Hopefully you like a thread. I just hate pm because you can't edit posts. For the characters, I'll take the person who has been there for a while, relative to plot 1, and the unwelcomed visitor, for plot two. )

(I was just going to write one, but then I decided to type up the other one. Hopefully, this is okay. )
Miranda had a pretty normal life, despite looking less than normal. Well, her life seemed normal to her. The whole looking different part was more obvious. She knew she stood out from the humans with her metallic parts. She was pretty sure most humans didn't have a glowing, yellow eye, metal limbs, or metallic plates on their skin. Of course, Miranda still considered herself human. After all, if you ignored the metallic parts, she looked human. She had a normal, hazel eye; bushy, red hair; and squishy skin covering most of her body. From what she had gathered, the color of her hair was pretty rare, which she was proud of. She was fine with being a little different. No one really treated her badly for it. She was not fine with being lonely. She had the other people who came along to give her food or walk her to a test, but they never really held a long enough conversation and they never really bonded. They kept her life comfortable, that she liked, but she wanted to talk to someone. The girl longed to have a conversation to someone other than herself or a passerby. She rolled over on her bed and huffed. That was when she heard a door slowly opened. She scrambled to her feet and peeked out of the window. It wasn't meal time, so was it a test? For once, she was looking forward to stressful tests. A grin slowly formed on the girl's face as she waited.
---
The human, the cabin stank of their scent, was gone and thank the waves for that. She didn't want to see another human for the rest of her life. Of course, she was aware of the chance that the human would come back; this was their home. However, she would be gone by then. All she had to do was try to patch up her arm and steal some food. Then, she would be out and could look for her pelt. The selkie sniffled when she remembered her lost part. Without her skin, she could never return to the ocean. She could never return home. She already missed the soothing, gentle current and her small but loving family. A tiny cry escaped the young selkie. She quickly wiped away the tears and snot while silently scolding herself for getting emotional. Now was not the time. She sniffled again and nodded. Thinking about home helped the her focus and sloppily wrap a bandage around her arm. To her dismay, the blood soaked through the bandage almost instantly. Was she going to bleed to death? She let out a tiny yelp before quickly wrapping more cloth around the wound. In the end, she had a small cloth cocoon around her arm. She smiled at the lack of blood and stood up. She swayed on her first couple of steps, but forged on. She had made it a couple steps before she heard a click. The door. A burst of fear filled the girl. She quickly stumbled into the nearest room and hide under the nearest piece of furniture. Now tucked under the bed, she held her breath and shut her eyes. Her mother had always told her wishing wasn't going to get her anywhere, but the scared girl needed to wish. So, she wished the human wouldn't noticed her presence, despite the broken lamp and open cabinets she had left in her wake, and that it would go away.
(If you want your character not to be human, you can just say my character's nose was clogged up with human scent. )

(I'll set the home owner as human X3 all the better for the surprise.)
Emendr followed the scientists silently through the hallway. After sitting for hours in the cramped little crate, his legs and back ached from having to remain so curled up. Well, maybe to them the crate wasn't as small. He was almost a foot taller than any of the scientists that he'd seen so far. His skin was still wet from the damp clothes they'd left him to keep himself from drying out, but considering the cold outside, it had left him feeling slow and groggy so it had probably been to keep him from fussing during the transfer. He quietly remembered the strange things he'd seen through the narrow gaps in the crate. The big piece of ice, the branchy things growing out of the white ground. He wanted to see it again, but he was pretty sure that this was the only transfer he'd see.
The scientists led the amphibious beast around a corner, turning at the next hall, then again at the next one. They stopped in front of a doorway and started to unlock the door. He could see into the room inside through several windows lining the wall. Observation ports. He still didn't like the idea of them always watching, but he supposed it was better than the last lab room he'd been kept in. He couldn't properly swim in the little kiddie pool they'd tossed in his room, but here he could see what looked to be an in-ground hollow filled with water. Underneath it, he could see more glass. They'd be able to watch him swim if he dove down. Well, at least he had enough water to actually splash around and not empty the pool.
The door came open and they gestured for him to enter. He hesitated, looking back down the hall they'd come from. He still wanted to see those strange things again. He'd gotten to smell the cold on the air outside, and even if it was warmer in here, the air was just fresher. Real. The artificial air systems pumping heat and cold through the labs just smelt fake and maybe a little musty. The scientist behind him tapped him on the back, reminding him he couldn't stay here. He flinched slightly, not expecting it, the moved forward. The door was closed behind him as soon as his tail was all the way inside with him. From this side, he realized the ports in the wall were reflective. He couldn't' see through them very well, he could only see the slight silhouettes of the scientists as they passed through the hall. With a disappointed sigh, he headed over to the pool and dropped himself in. He found the water was heated to contrast the cold air outside and he ended up warming very quickly. He lashed his tail back and forth, splashing water around and dunking his face in the water a few times. Unknown to him, the splashing sounds carried through the overhead air ducts, sounding in the cell next to his.
--
Julian opened the door to the cabin and stopped in the doorway when he saw the mess that awaited him. Someone had been in the house. He looked back toward the car briefly, where Aarow was getting his bag out of the car and starting to head over to join him. "Wait by the car!" He ordered seriously. He saw Aarow look over, his expression concerned about his tone. Julian never took that tone with him, even when he made mistakes or got poor marks in school. He stayed in place, waiting for any sign that it was alright to head over to the house.
Julian continued inside, closing the door behind him. He needed to check what had been taken, and what had been damaged. He spotted the lamp that had come off the shelf, bits of the lightbulb scattered across the wood floor. He'd have to keep his shoes on for now. Unfortunate, he was significantly quieter without them. If someone was still in the house, he didn't want them to know he was walking around. He made his way into the kitchen first. Well, someone had been through the cabinets. That much was certain. No point in taking inventory of what was lost here, all of the food was easily replaced. It only mean he had to go shopping a little sooner than he'd expected. Nothing seemed broken in the kitchen. There hadn't really been anything valuable here, so he moved on. He realized the bathroom door had been opened, and the medicine cabinet had been raided too. The first aid kit sat emptied by the sink with its contents spilled everywhere. Bandages and bloodied fingerprints made his brow crease in concern. What had happened here? He looked around, but the only marks on the floor he saw seemed to lead between the door, to the kitchen, to the bathroom. So they'd covered the wound. He had no trail to where they went next. He began to move through the living room. Everything was here... tv, dvd player, the decorative figurines on the tv stand. Nothing seemed to have been taken. He'd check the other rooms, then let Aarow know he could come in.
Julian opened the door to Aarow's room. He opened the closet doors, checked the corner behind the bookshelf and under the bed. Nothing here. He walked out, closing the door behind him. He opened the next door over, his room. Again, he checked the closet and any other hiding spots before walking over to the side of the bed. He started to bend down to check beneath it, stopping in place half crouched when he realized he saw a lock of hair where it didn't belong. He took a quick step back before speaking. "Who's there?"

Nothing. Miranda couldn't see a thing. It didn't matter from which angle she looked or how much she craned her head. She groaned as she laid her face on the cold glass. The footsteps came and then left. Had they decided not to bring her? Hopefully, they weren't bringing lunch. She didn't like the thought of missing a meal, not like it had ever happened. Still, just to set her mind at ease, she looked over at her clock. Nope, not lunch time yet. The girl flopped down on her bed with a soft 'ofph' and then a sigh. Another day with books and the toy humans for company. At least, they were pretty reliable. She had them from the start and her books were always refreshed soon after she finished them. She had always wondered why they made the tiny men green, but she didn't ask questions. She was just happy to have them. She started to reach under her bed for the items when she heard several splashes.
She froze, waiting for another splash. Did they put something next door? Was it a fish? Then again, she could just be going crazy. Miranda really hoped she wasn't hallucinating. She sat up and listened for more noises. Unexpectantly, they continued. A small smile broke out on her face. Good news, she wasn't crazy. Bad news, it might just be a fish. A fish could be interesting, but Miranda didn't think they could talk and she couldn't exactly see it. Whatever it was sounded large, so maybe it was a shark or dolphin. She was ruling out whale. Her books always said they were the giants of the sea. The splashes didn't sound that loud. The girl couldn't stand not knowing what or even who was living next to her.
She stood up on her bed, as her vent was on her ceiling. She gave a couple of experimental bounces on the bed before standing on her tippy toes. "Hello?" She called as loudly as she could. She stood normally after sending her message off. While her mechanical right leg could stand up for hours, her human right leg quickly tired.
---
Eve held her breath as she heard the human stomping through the house. She had already shuffled back to lay against the wall and now had one hand clasped over her mouth. Every fiber in her being told her to run, yet she remained motionless. Her body was frozen in fear as she listened with dread as the sounds slowly approached. She forced down a whimper and pushed herself against the wall as if she could disappear into it. Her eyes remained locked on the pair of shoes as it entered the room. What would they do to her once they found her? Luckily, the girl didn't look like anything special. She had brown eyes, though slightly larger than most, and her body was normal looking, perhaps she was a bit on the broad side. That was pretty normal from the glances she had snuck. Her hair was an odd brown-grey color with a glossy sheen, but everything else looked normal. She could claim to just be another human, but what would a human be doing in another human's home? There wasn't a way to explain that. The human could hit her again. Panic gripped her and she unknowingly curled up and skewed her eyes shut.
Then, the human spoke. She waited a second in foolish hope that he was speaking to someone else. She abandoned the hope quickly. The hurt selkie didn't want to speak, but she had a feeling if she didn't, things would get a lot worse. She didn't want to be dragged out of the hiding place. The girl was trapped. She sniffled, feeling both fear and helplessness grasp her. She tried to shove away these feelings and speak in a clear tone. "I'm Eve." She was proud when her voice only held a wobble. She waited for what the human would do next.

As Emendr lifted his head out of the water, the could have sworn he heard a voice. Not even distantly, he was pretty sure he heard someone talking. They - she - sounded close. There was clearly no one in his cell. He lifted himself part way out of the water quietly, turning his head a few times to try to hear it again. Was it a trick? Were one of the scientists trying to get him to socialize? No, she'd sounded too young to be working here. All of the scientists he'd seen had to be in their forties or older.
Unable to curb his curiosity, Emender pulled himself up out of the water. Where had the voice come from exactly? "Hello?" He echoed, though he didn't shout. He was concerned about drawing attention. The last thing he wanted was to start testing early. He'd learned that if a scientist thought a creature was more intelligent than it looked, it tended to get taken for more tests.
--
Julian frowned quietly at her response. He could hear a hint of fear in her voice. She didn't seem like the type to confidently break into someone's home. She clearly hadn't taken anything, but she was still in his house. She'd still broken in and risked being arrested for something. "Why are you here, Eve?" He asked slowly. "Care to explain the blood and bandages in the bathroom?"
He stayed standing, not yet bending down to look at her. Besides her being in his house, something felt way off. He couldn't rule out that she wasn't alone. He had to consider Aarow's safety and make sure that she didn't pose a threat to the boy.

He listened to her as best he could, but at some points, her words became harder to follow. Names... okay... He started to open his mouth, but when she moved forward with her gaze on his pelt, his hand gripped the animal hide tighter and snapped it in the opposite direction of her reach. "Stay away from it!" He barked, showing his teeth again. He didn't mean to raise his voice when she had yet to, but he was terribly afraid of her taking it. That was how this whole mess had started. "If you truly mean to help me and you're not trying to trick me into anything, you'll leave it alone! I'm not too weak to fight a human threat just yet." (sorry for not replying sooner! i've been crazy busy lately with exams) Kendall jumped back, her eyes wide with fright, when the creature barked - literally - at her. She took a shaky breath before meeting his gaze again. "I'm sorry; I really do want to help, truly," she told him, her brows furrowing. "I didn't know it was so important to you. And I know you're not weak -" she glanced at the bloody trail leading into the bedroom - "you dragged yourself all the way in here, if nothing else. She bit back her angry, frightened thoughts as bent down to meet it again. "I'm just trying to help, okay?" she sighed. "Let me help you with your bandages and then I'll leave you be." The woman moved to touch its back once again, her heart pounding as she slowly moved to adjust the first bandage on the creature's back. (and tbh, I'm having trouble imaging this guy - do you have a reference or could you give me a clearer description of his features/size so I can get a better idea of what he looks like?)

Miranda smiled and did a tiny, victory bounce. She was not living next to a fish, but next to someone who could talk. Of course, it could just be an intelligent fish, but the important part was the talking. She didn't really mind what or who this voice came from. In her excitement, she forgot to be quiet. "Hello! My name is Miranda. What is your name?" The words came out a little robotic sounding just because she had never introduced herself before. She had read about it in books, but she hadn't asked another human for their name. All the scientists knew her name and she hadn't met anyone else. Needless to say, she had tons to ask the other person, or fish. In a rare act of self restraint, she held her tongue and waited for a name.
---
Eve bit her lip and looked away. She didn't want to explain what had happened. The human did sound nice, but who knows how he would react to her and her nature. She had heard tales of human's enslaving her people by keeping them away from their skins. The man before certainly had that idea. She tucked her legs against herself as the memory surfaced. Tears threatened to form when she remembered the grabbing hands and a knife. It had been a moment of weakness when she was caught in the man's net. She shifted to escape her confinements, but was pulled up before she could struggle out. The rope burns and burses pulsed in a harsh reminder whenever she shifted.
The young girl wasn't foolish enough to tell the whole truth, but she could leave out some parts. "I was attacked, so I hid in here." She explained carefully. It was all true. All she could hope for was that the human would take pity on her.

Emendr listened, tilting his head in surprise that there'd been an answer, and from above his head, no less. He looked up and saw the ventilation system. It must carry to another cell. Still, he was now unbearably curious. Who was this other person? He had her name, sure, but that didn't tell him much. He'd never actually seen other test subjects, and now he wanted to know what had been changed. Was she like him, with an animal-like appearance? Or was she more human looking?
"They named me Emendr." He replied. He fidgeted in place, trying to think of a question to ask back. That's what conversations were, right? Answers and questions? If the questions or answers stopped, the conversation ended. He wasn't sure he wanted this exchange to end so quickly. "How much time do you remember?" He asked, uncertain the exact wording of 'how old are you.'
---
Julian stopped again at her answer. The situation was far more delicate than he'd realized. He had to approach this carefully. But if she'd been attacked in the area, he didn't want to leave Aarow waiting outside. "I'll be right back. You can come out from under there if you want. I know I'm probably not the person you'd want to see right now, but you're alright to wait here a bit. When I get back, we'll figure out how to proceed, okay?" He offered before he turned and walked out of the room. He went out to the front porch and beckoned for Aarow to come in. He quickly explained to him the situation, and asked him to wait on the couch for him to figure out what to do about this.

(Thorn - I don't have any recent art of him, but I'm working on some now. He looks human like this, though. As for description, he's about 5'8", long black hair, blue eyes, dark skin, dressed in simple clothing that is probably covered in sand, and with a seal hide that he carries)
He watched cautiously, his expression still a little aggressive. He was tired, and still sore, so if he didn't need to create trouble where there was none, he would take the peace. He didn't quite trust her, but she'd proved patient if anything. He'd just have to stay cautious. The wound along his back wasn't going to get any better if he didn't take proper care of it and he couldn't even see it without a mirror. He wouldn't' be able to doctor it himself, and if he kept raising hell, she might give up and call a human authority to deal with him. He'd prefer that option be avoided.

Miranda hummed at the odd question. She remembered how to tell time. She knew how to read a clock. The unknown person could not have a clock in his room. It was an odd way to ask for the time though. She looked over at the bright, red numbers on the clock as if they would reveal the answer. her brows furrowed and her mouth was set in a frown. Nothing came to her not matter how long she stared and mulled over the information. She didn't want to offend whoever was on the other side, but she really didn't know what he was asking for and she would hate to disappoint.
Admittedly, it took a while for the girl to answer. She had to sit down because her human leg had started to weaken and she didn't want to have another accident. "What do you mean?" She asked, deciding she just couldn't answer the question. She had considered memories as the subject, but she still didn't know how to answer that. She barely had a concept of time down. Her age and years were far out of her grasp. Though, it wouldn't be much help. As much as she tried, her memories only went back to when she woke up here and that was only two years ago. She was defiantly not two years old.
---
The young selkie wasn't a real risk taker, yet fear made her act out. Normally, she would have remained in place and waited for the man to come back. However, the man didn't give a reason why he was leaving. He could easily be getting a net or more men. Eve didn't like it. She slowly crawled out of her hiding spot. There was a window in the room and it was big enough to walk though. She hesitated. As much as she would love to escape, she didn't know what laid out there for her. In the selkie's mind, there were men hiding in every shadow to snatch her. At least this human seemed nice. Then she shook her head. Eve scolded herself. She should leave and find her skin. Once she had it, she could return to the safe ocean and to her family. If she waited here, there was no skin, so no ocean or family. She stepped up to the window and found herself perplexed.
Needless to say, there were no windows in the ocean. She had no experience with these. A small frown formed on the girl's face as she looked over the pane of glass. She was reaching for the levers when she heard footfalls approaching. Her eyes glanced towards the bed, but there was no time. She would be lucky to reach the bed, much less get under. She turned to face the door. She could only hear one set of footsteps, so at least the male didn't bring back up. The girl clutched her ratty towel around her. She had found it one the beach once she realized she didn't have her skin. It was large so it covered most of her except for her bare feet. She was glad for the comfort of something like her skin.

"How long have you been here?" He asked, assuming she'd been here since birth as he had been. He thought he heard her voice grow a little further away and he began to fidget again. Was he unable to keep the conversation going? Would there be more conversations if it ended? Even if it turns out she wasn't a test subject, and she was one of the scientists just trying to get information out of him, it wasn't often he got to use his voice. It was a nice change, and he could only hope that more questions would come at a later time.
--
Julian returned to the room, opening the door slowly. "Alright, I'm back." He said, once again pausing when he saw she'd come out from hiding. He wasn't sure about the towel, or what was or wasn't under it. "I guess first off, do you want a change of clothes?" He offered. His clothes would probably be too big, but some of Aarow's should fit her comfortably. He took a step over to the bed and pulled the blanket off, offering it to her for now. He would have moved closer, but she still seemed nervous. He couldn't blame her considering what she'd been through. He just didn't want to make her more afraid than she already was.

Miranda hummed again. The question before made a lot more sense and she almost felt stupid for not piking up on the voice's meaning. The answer was tricky. She didn't know any exact dates and the days did tend to mesh together. However, she could recall fuzzy memories of distantly non-white walls and maybe even some nature. At some point, she wasn't here. "Not my whole life, but lots of days. I lost track of the days." She said. For some time, she did have a small journal but she forgot for a couple of days and her recording started to become spotty. Really, she stopped caring. It didn't really matter anymore. This was her place and days didn't really matter here. The question did spark her interest about him. If it matter to him, then was his answer to the question interesting? She looked up at the vent. "How long have you been here?" She parroted back.
---
Eve eyed the blanket then the male. Her mouth was set in a slight frown. The blanket did look better than her towel. While she was hesitant to step any closer, she didn't see how this could be a trap. She took a couple steps forward before reaching out and gently taking the blanket from him. She was almost worried this was going to be a cruel trick and he was going to snack it away. To her relief, she was able to retrieve the blanket and shuffle back against the wall. When she managed to sling the blanket over her shoulders, a smile threatened to show. The warm weight on her shoulders reminded her of her skin and she was grateful for the act of kindness the man displayed. She nodded at the offer of clothing. She wasn't fond of having to hold the blanket shut.

"I got here today." Emendr replied. "I was brought here from another lab. I remember being there when I was very small." He replied. "I remember learning to walk and swim. The scientists tried to teach me to read but..." He gave a weak chuckle at that. "I just couldn't see the letters clearly. I couldn't my eyes." Admittedly, it was easier to see underwater than it was on dry land. He could only assume that meant his eyes were best in the water.
--
"Alright. I'll get some of my son's clothes. They'll fit you better than mine would." Julian said, walking out of the room again. He left the door slightly ajar behind him, not wanting her to feel trapped in the room. Still, if she wanted to close the door, she could without being seen from the outside. He went into Aarow's room and pulled a shirt and pair of pants from the closet. He walked back to his room again, catching a curious look from Aarow. He'd have liked to explain the situation further, but he understood that Eve's situation required promptness. They needed to figure all of this out quickly. He only entered his room partway, placing the clothes on the dresser. "Here you go, Eve. Just let me know when you're done changing."

Miranda felt guilty about being excited now. The days may mesh together and the tests were sometimes stressful, but this was the only home she had. She could only imagine how it would feel to leave. Not that Emendr actually sounded broken up about leaving. Anyways, the reading part caught her attention. He may have a pool, but that wouldn't keep anyone entertained for days. She shouldn't assumed, especially if he was a fish, but he was going to need some more activities. Reading had basically kept her sane when her interest in her other toys ran out. "Maybe the doctors could get you some glasses or contacts." She suggested with all seriousness.
--
Eve couldn't help but tense at the idea of another human. However, once the words processed, she relaxed. This human was nice, so she didn't think the son would be much different, right? Yeah. She nodded as she tried to calm herself down. She could accept these people's help, and then go to the water and search. It would be much easier to search if she didn't have to keep one hand clasping the blanket shut. She already felt a bit guilty for hiding in this family's home and stealing their things, but she told herself that one day, she might repay them. Humans liked shells and fish if she could remember correctly. She could return the clothes with some shells and fish to repay them. No harm in using them for now. With these thoughts, her heart felt lighter than it had since coming to shore. She nodded to the male as he placed the clothes down. She waited until he had left before putting on the clothes. They smelled a bit weird, but were one of the less complicated things she had encountered. The bandage was showing now, but she didn't think about this as she opened the door. "Done." She said.

"No... no..." Emendr hesitated. "I have two sets of eyes. It's kinda hard to focus them on such small letters, especially so close to my face." He admitted. "Why, is reading important?" He asked. He hadn't actually gotten an answer on that one. He wasn't entirely sure the scientists who'd dealt with him in the other lab completely cared if he could read or not. Just once he said it was too blurry, the lessons stopped and they started teaching him something else. "I learned simple math with objects instead of writing."
--
Julian reopened the door slowly. "Alright. So, I understand if you don't want to talk about what happened, but we need to discuss how you want to proceed from here." He said. His eyes went to the bandages on her arm. "Would you like for me to look at that?" He offered. "I'm a doctor. I work at the hospital in the city." He didn't want to get too sidetracked from planing how she waned to handle this, but he couldn't ignore the injury.

Miranda blinked. Her mouth opened then closed. Four sets of eyes? How did they look? Miranda would guess they were more like her yellow eye, since that wasn't normal. Then again, she had never seen anyone or thing with more an two eyes. She couldn't assume how they would look. She opened her mouth to ask about the eyes when he asked his question. She was astonished he would ask such a question. "Well, books help pass the time and they are really interesting. They also contain all the topics you could ever want to read. Maybe they could give you something to listen to. It might get a bit boring just being in a pool all the time."
---
Eve looked at her arm then at the man. The words 'doctor' and 'hospital' were foreign to the selkie, but his eyes were locked on her arm. She could guess what he wanted to do. Yet, she didn't want the man to touch her arm. The feeling of the man's fingers wrapped around her leg came back to her and she looked away. She didn't want to have anyone touch her arm, especially another human. With her uninjured hand on the bandage, she shook her head. "No." She said firmly.

Emendr slapped the water around with his tail, creating quite a bit of noise. "Well, I didn't have a real pool before. And I didn't really have any real means of entertainment. Just talking to you is good on its own. Swimming never gets old." He said, a smile forming on his face. "Are there any other subjects here?" He asked.
--
Julian gave a small nod at that. "Okay, okay. But what do you want to do? I can call the police and they can open a search for the person who attacked you. Do you live near here? We can drive you home so you don't have to walk by yourself." He offered. He didn't want her to feel like she had to deal with this by herself, or that she wouldn't be safe to leave the house.

The brunette let out a sigh as the creature allowed her to clean up its wounds and fixed the tattered, misplaced bandages, wishing he'd just let her do it for him in the first place. But then, she supposed, I'd know where he'd come from and what on Earth he was talking about. Then maybe I wouldn't have let him stay here in the first place. But, as the sand-covered stranger let her tend to his wounds, she realized he probably just need a safe place to stay; she could give him that, at least.
"So, where were we?" she murmured as her hands finished pressing the new bandages to its back. "Oh, that's right - what they call me. I'm Kendall Ducoff. What's your name and how did you find this place, just out of curiosity?"

( Hopefully this is okay )
Michael usually never swore. But on a day when he’d almost dived head-first into the window of a library and his veins felt as if they were coursing with fire and he couldn’t quite get a grasp around whether if up was up or down was down, he couldn’t help but at least think of the vile words. He would’ve liked to say that he’d gracefully perched himself on the ground, but unfortunately, full-on-crashed was a better term for how he’d landed. Rolling and attempting to keep his wings tucked so that the collision with the ground wouldn’t further damage them, the slender and small young man drew in a sharp breath as he finally felt himself stop.
Where on Earth was this, anyway? His memories were a little fuzzy, and he felt the corners of his vision blur. Perhaps it was because he was, despite not truly wanting to admit it, in shock from all of the events that had happened, particularly the rough landing. The landing…? His green eyes widened when he realised that the large, inky feathered wings protruding from his back were still most likely splayed out for the world to see, plainly out in the open. Maybe I should just stay here, like this, he thought to himself (his thought surprisingly held no sarcasm) with a brief moment of jaded fatigue settling in his bones. His usual sharp-tongued vigor had been seeped away. Wait for a truck to pick me up and get shipped off to some government oriented lab.
Despite his (almost lazy) thoughts, the youthful-featured man forcefully pushed himself up from the floor and tentatively pulled himself to his feet. Then, he glanced around his surroundings with the most observation he could muster. It didn’t matter where he ended up. He just needed somewhere to sit and to breathe. Taking a few ginger albeit shaky steps towards what seemed like a hidden corner of an alleyway, Michael finally rested his elbow against the wall and let himself slide down, this time partially leaning against the wall to support his weight. At least, here, there wouldn’t be any prying eyes. Now then… he glanced down at his crooked wings and winced. What to do?

(I'll be back in about an hour. It's only a demo we're playing but we've gotta make the storage work.)

Thornshade- (Sorry if it's wonky, it's really hard to focus on typing right now.)
"I was called Double." He answered quietly. "I was chasing a thief. They got an edge on me and I couldn't get far after." His grip on the pelt tightened a bit. "I came here to get out of the snow." He still watched the woman quietly after he was done speaking. He didn't care to elaborate much more. He was still cautious about saying too much and giving too much away.

Wolf -
Chance usually counted himself lucky to have an apartment next to the library. It was usually open late, and since he wasn't much for healthy sleep schedules, he could visit until closing and take books home to finish them. He was on his way for yet another visit, the book he intended to return tucked under one arm as he walked. He'd left a little later than usual, which mean he didn't have as much time to sit around and relax. He'd have to find a few books and take his leave quickly.
He thought he caught movement in the corner of his eye in the gap between the library and his apartment building. A cat, maybe? He'd seen a few strays around in the last few days, and he quite liked to engage with them, even if petting a stray cat was less than safe or hygienic. He turned his head to realize the movement was far too big to be a cat. Or even a dog. A person, maybe? No one ever seemed to go back there. Really, it was wasted space. They didn't even store dumpsters back there. His curiosity quickly overwhelmed his good sense and his feet changed course before his head fully caught up.
He took a few more steps forward, calling softly. "Hello?"

This was bad. This was very, very bad. No matter how much Michael urged his muscles to move, his body would not obey, and he felt himself closing his eyes while leaning the back of his head against the wall. If someone was calling for him, that most likely meant that they’d seen him with the inky black wings still awkwardly hanging behind himself. Or perhaps he’d been lucky enough so that only his silhouette had been spotted. He wanted to tell whoever had spoken (the voice had sounded young, perhaps around his own age) to go away, though he was afraid that if he did speak, they would undoubtedly come closer.
Then again, there didn’t seem to be a point in staying silent either (not when his condition was like this and he most likely would not be able to move too far). Besides, he’d already found himself speaking before he could reconsider his thoughts again. “Leave me alone,” he croaked. I’m done for was his thought, though, oddly enough, he didn’t feel all that threatened. In fact, he felt much calmer than he had before when he was panicking about knocking himself into the windows of various buildings.

Chance paused at the stranger's words. They clearly didn't want company, but they didn't sound... awake? He remained where he was for a moment, then he took another step forward. "Is everything alright?" He asked slowly. He wasn't sure what to make of the stranger's unusual tone. He stepped around the rubbish crate that the stranger was hidden behind and stopped in place, looking him over. He hadn't seen a winged being in quite a long time. Really, he hadn't seen another one since he could remember. But the wings didn't look quite right... Or maybe something else was off? Really, the alley didn't have the best lighting.

There weren't any bewildered yelps or anything, which came as a surprise. Usually, anyone who would have seen him would have... Well, they wouldn't be this calm. If he had been in the opposite situation and he'd come across an individual with wings, he was certain he would have doubted himself and his eyes. "You're... not going to call the cops?" Michael slowly asked, raising his head from his folded arms, which rested on his knees. He could ge somewhat a better view of the speaker now that he was actually looking at the individual, though the lighting wasn't the best, so his features did not appear to be entirely clear.

(Sorry, i had to do a thing)
Chance shook his head. "Nah, it's all good." He offered a small smile to the stranger, only able to hope they would stay friendly. "Do you need help getting up? I don't imagine you want to stay out here too long." He asked, holding his hand forward. It was sort of on impulse, but he didn't really care to have their kind discovered and hunted down. It would be best to hide the stranger at least until he could take off again.

Sorry for not being here. Yesterday was just busy. )
For a split second, she thought he had left because of the splash. Her shoulder's sagged, but her mood quickly changed when she heard his voice. Miranda's ears grew a light pink at Emendr's words. She had never thought of herself at someone good to talk to. The scientists basically ignore her talk, except for short praises or harsh corrections. It was nice to hear that she wasn't annoying. The girl hummed again at the question of others. She wasn't sure he was going to like the answer. "No. I haven't met or see any others." She said, shaking her head despite the fact that he couldn't see her. She flopped down on her bed. "You're the first one I've talked to. That doesn't meant there isn't others."
---
Eve shook her head quickly while not making any more eye contact with the man. She didn't know who or what was this police, but she knew she didn't want to go searching for the man. Maybe it was time to leave. This human asked too many questions about too many things she didn't know. She didn't like not understanding anything and she knew he would figure out something was off about her sooner if she stayed. She could have them drop her off by the beach, she had lost her way while running to the cabin, and then search for her skin. "I want to go home." She voiced.

Emendr nodded in agreement, though he realized she couldn't' see him. "I haven't really gotten to talk to anyone else either. The scientists don't really try to hold conversations if they think they know everything already." He shifted his weight side to side for a moment as he tried to think of what else to say. Oh... he did have a question. "How... are the scientists here?" He asked quietly, almost too much so to be heard.
--
Julian gave another small nod. "Alright. I'll drive you home. Come on." He said with a small wave. He started to head out of the room. Aarow gave him an expecting look and stood up from where he sat on the couch.
"I'm taking her home. Do you want to come with?" Julian asked.
Aarow looked past Julian into the room, though the girl wasn't visible from where he stood. He nodded a bit, starting to walk toward the door. Julian looked back at Eve. "You don't mind, do you? He doesn't like being by himself."
