"I tried it once and I almost died." Emendr admitted. It wasn't one of his finer moments... Not many people submerged in four inches of water and took a deep breath. At least, he imagined no one of average intelligence would make such a stupid mistake. "So I'm pretty sure the answer is no." He added with a slight grin on his long face. He only hoped she found it as amusing as he did.
--
Julian gave a small nod. "I'll be back in a few minutes." He said, turning and starting to walk down the beach.
Aarow pushed the thin layer of snow out from where he wanted to sit and he tucked his legs under himself. He looked over at the girl a moment before realizing she was only wearing the clothes she'd borrowed. She didn't seem to have a coat or jacket. "Aren't you cold?" He asked quietly. "Do you want a jacket?" He offered. He had two on in layers, so it wouldn't be too bad to give her one.

Miranda wasn't sure what to make of the male. She didn't shame him for trying, she might have, but it was still a bit unnerving. Well, he was alive. She decided to keep her mouth shut about his potential death. Miranda found herself at a loss for words. She didn't know how to continue the conversation. She felt proud and happy though. This was the longest conversation she has ever had.
(Do you want something to happen?)
---
Eve looked at the boy and blinked. It was cold. Her foggy mind started to register the snow around her starting to melt and soak her pants. She had to suppress a shiver. Of course, she was use to the cold. The sea water wasn't heated. However, she hadn't been in the cold in this form. Without her normal fat and fur, she was colder than normal She hated how odd and lanky this form was. She felt weaker without her fur and not really knowing how to control her limbs. She shook her head, not wanted to admit to either of them that she was cold. She tucked her knees against her chest and hugged them. Longing and sadness lingered in the back on her eyes as she looked out onto the sea.

(X3 I mean, at some point they'll be interrupted or become tired and sleep. Otherwise, we can set something up if you have anything in mind.)
--
Aarow hesitated when she refused, but he removed his first jacket anyways. "You don't want to get sick out here." He said, holding up the jacket so it was in her field of view. He wasn't sure what else to do. She was clearly upset about something, but he wasn't sure if it was the animal hide she'd lost or about what had happened, or about something else. He really couldn't guess. But he didn't like the idea of being unable to go home. It was something that sort of intimidated him. She couldn't be feeling any better about it, so the least he could do was to be nice.

"Double, huh?" the woman murmured as she gingerly adjusted the bandages on his back and abdomen."Well, what did the thief steal? Was it very valuable? I'm happy to keep you safe here for a little while, but-" she hesitated, unsure if she should elaborate or not; she didn't want to chase him away again. As much as she wanted to keep herself safe from others who might want the stolen object, Double needed the help she could offer him. "Sorry if this stings a little," she apologized, as she pulled the bandages taunt across his body to prevent them from loosening over night. "I think you'll be alright now. But tell me more, please - I need to understand what you're protecting if I want to keep you safe from the thief."

Sorry, they can continue if you want. I was just thinking it could be interesting I they had a test together. The scientists could know about their talk and wonder how they would interact. I dunno if this is realistic. )
---
Eve stared at the jacket before slowly taking it. Silently, she put on the piece. Warmth spread though the female and she slowly smiled. She didn't expected such a strong effect and for the jacket to be so comfortable. This type of warmth, not body heat from her or family, was foreign but she did like it. "Thank you." She said, slowly looking at the male. She stared at him for a second before speaking again, "Your name is Aarow, right?" She was pretty sure names were something to causally ask someone.

(its all good. I figured no matter what they said, they'd be recorded or monitored in some way, so yeah, it makes sense they might try to test their interactions, or at least compete their test results.)
--
Aarow nodded. "And you said your name was Eve?" He double checked. He'd been wrong before... still, at least she took the jacket. He was sure Julian would have given her one if he'd known they weren't actually going to her place. "Can I ask you... what's the significance of this animal skin? Why can't you go home without it.?" He asked quietly.

So you want to start where they are throw into a test? Do you test have in mind? I was thinking some sort of odd obstacle course. )
---
Eve nodded. His question troubled her. She really did want to trust the humans. They were the ones who took care of her. They hadn't shown any aggression. She certainly didn't want to be abandoned without her skin. She didn't know anything. She was be lost and alone. The idea made her hug her legs closer. "I just can't. It's..." She hesitated, wondering just how much she could say. "Special." She finished lamely.

(Sure. What do you think about to similar courses, but one's heavily water based and one's heavily platform based. They'll run what they're stronger at, and then be asked to switch.)
--
Aarow listened quietly, watching as she seemed to withdraw even further. "Even if it is special, I don't think your family would leave you out in the snow for not having it." He replied. "And if they did, that's really wrong." He added. He looked up, trying to see Julian from here, but the lowlight left him unable to see very far, and wherever Juilan was, he was pretty far out of sight.
(If you want that hunter to reappear, we can probably use them to progress things)

What if they run them together? In an attempt to see which one is faster or something of the sort? )
---
Eve tried not to let the words get to her. The boy didn't understand she needed this to be with her family. They wouldn't recognize her without the skin. Really, she didn't recognize herself in this leggy form. She noticed the male looking into the distance. She found herself scanning the beach with him. The seklie's eyes widened as she noticed a small group approaching. At first, she assumed it was Julian, but as they approached, she recognized the leading man. She couldn't forget those sharp eyes or the small bruise she had created with a kick to his cheek. Her eyes shifted downwards to find him holding her skin.
She let go of her legs, but didn't move anymore. She wanted to jump at the man and snatch away her skin. However, the man's sneer and the men behind him had her frozen. She finally shifted backwards towards the woods. If she wanted her skin, she would have to be smart about it. She remembered the human at the last minute and grabbed him. "Back! Back!" She whispered urgently.

(The idea is to compare their times. They'll still see who's faster, though they'll likely be slower to put them in a room together until they have more information.)
--
Aarow watched her back up, trying to follow her gaze. He realized there were people fast approaching. Then she grabbed him and he grew nervous. She was really afraid of something. "We need to go back to the car." He told her quietly, following her lead toward the trees. He had to assume this was the person who'd attacked her, and that he'd probably attack again. He wanted to find Julian, but there was no telling how far he'd gone by now. The car was probably the best bet.

Sounds good. When do you want to start, like when they are beginning the test or being taken out of their rooms? )
---
Eve shook her head. "We have to get the skin back." She whispered before turning and crouching down. She wobbled and almost fell on her face, but she managed to hold herself with a hand. She peered through the woods at the strangers. Her eyes narrowed as she clenched her hands. "We have to get it back." She repeated for herself. The selkie watched the men as they advanced. Despite walking past them, they hadn't noticed the two young people. She tensed, ready to go out and snatch the skin from the man's hand.
(Sorry for the sketchy activity.)

(Sure, I can start it on my next post if you want, or you can start ) --- Aarow shook his head quickly, catching her shoulder. "Please, just lay low. We can tail them for a bit, but if it looks bad, we're going back to the car." He told her. "It might be a little bit, but we'll get it back." He promised quietly. He looked back toward the group, trying think of the best way to get close without being seen. It looked like they were coming up on a rock formation. They could climb over the rocks and ambush them... but he wanted to try to gauge whether or not they were carrying weapons. He was a terrible fighter and he didn't want to panic... He'd kept calm around Julian so far, but he couldn't take any major risks. (It's all good, I was busy last week and i've started feeling kinda sick)

Miranda was sure this was another one of the tests. There was no other reason for them to fetch her out of her room. The real question was if this was a test of her intelligence or movement. She was not hoping for the latter, even if it was one of the scientists' favorites. Her shoulders slumped down at the thought. It was fitting. Just another addition to what was turning into a bad day. This morning she had waited for the male next door to make his splashing noises or speak, but she didn't hear anything. She had really wanted to talk more. She didn't know what they would talk about honestly. Just the idea of speaking to another subject made her feel a flicker of joy. Lost in her thoughts, she was shoved into another room. She felt her metal leg and arm spark to life again. Due to safety measures, they would turn her arm and leg on a setting that made them feel like dead weight. Miranda didn't really understand why they took such precautions. She didn't have any desires to run away. She didn't know where she would run to. Outside, the traitorous part of her mind whispered to her. She shook her head as if shaking off the thoughts. She focused her eyes on the obstacle course. Everything was a slate grey and Miranda knew from experience the course was covered in some kind of soft, slippery material. She had overheard that it was some kind of plastic. The plastic was molded into all different kinds of shapes. They were all mended together to creature a mountain-like structure. On top of the structure was a blue flag. She didn't need the scientists to instruct her. She slowly started to make her way up. ---
Eve opened her mouth to protest, but then snapped it shut. He was right. Even if he wasn't injured, she couldn't take on the men, not even with the help of the other human male. She also didn't like the idea of Julian coming back and seeing Aarow hurt. Something told her, Julian wouldn't be the least bit happy. She would have to be happy with tailing. For now. Maybe she could find the human's den and then ambush them another night. "Let's go." Eve said before creeping down the bank but making sure to stay in the forest. Every heavy footfall made her wince. She was too weak and tired in this body to walk quietly. Not like her other form was any quieter, but she didn't need it to be quiet.

Emendr remained sitting quietly at the side of the pool. He'd heard the echoes of footsteps in the hall all morning, and he didn't dare talk to the stranger in the next cell in case they didn't already know of their conversations. Sooner or later they'd only fix the acoustics in the vent and they wouldn't be able to talk anymore. Finally, the door opened and he heard their orders. To stand and walk over. He hesitated, looking at the water and then at the door. He didn't want to jump right back into the tests or the medicines. He wanted to at least have today to relax and play with the new water. But the order came again, quicker and more strict. He couldn't afford to test their patience. He stood up slowly, feigning soreness for the reason behind his hesitation, and he walked to the door cautiously, watching them for any sign they might lash out. They moved into the same formation they had before where they could watch him from any angle, and he followed them to a room with what looked like some sort of obstacle course, but with a lot of water... Maybe this would be interesting at least.
--
Aarow heard the ground under her feet stress and he shook his head. "Go slower if you have to. Take your time. We'll get it back." He promised quietly before he faced forward again and he continued sneaking ahead. He moved carefully, watching the men as they grew closer to the rocks. If he was quick, maybe he could get up on top of the rocks and surprise them from able? It would be harder to get away... but he might be able to do it. Considering Eve's injuries, he couldn't ask her to make the jump. He sped up a little, still picking his steps with caution. He looked back again, trying to signal her to keep going slower. If he moved ahead and went for the pelt, they'd have to retreat. If he ran back to the woods, she'd have to run too, and that would go better if she was further back. If he ran to the water... he could try to swim it, but the ocean at night sounded terrifying. He wouldn't be able to go far from the shore.

The plastic was amazingly hard to grasp. She couldn't walk up the mountain-like structure. The edge was too steep and she was forced to crawl. The best traction came from her human limbs and that was only by digging her nails into the soft covering. By the time she had made it half way, her limbs where trembling. When she came to a larger ledge, she stopped. The plastic felt cool against her face. Her eyelids grew heavy and her uneven breathing evened. She resisted the urge to stop and just sleep. A light buzz and chirped order got her moving. The consequence for stopping was not something she wanted to undergo. By the time she had reached the stop, she was burry eyed and sweating. A grin split her face when she grasped onto the flag at the top. Finally, she could rest. She slid down and handed the flag to the scientist who was waiting. They started to lead her again.
---
The fatigue made her mind slow but mouth loose. She almost snapped at the boy. His life did not hang in the balance if they didn't get the skin. He did not loose his life or family if they didn't the skin back. The selkie needed to hurry. She needed her skin. However, she managed to hold back these words from spilled out of her. Surely, he knew what was at stake and was helping her. She didn't want to loose the only allies she had. She followed the male's lead. "What are you planning?" She whispered. He was slight and still for too long. Eve was hoping the human was planning something and not letting them get away.
