RUNNING AWAY FROM WAR ⋆ a small group atla rp [ 1/5 spots open ] Henlo! I don't know how long it's been since I've actually made a roleplay or something in the off topic roleplay section. I've been really invested in the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, and recently (more like a month ago) finished watching The Legend of Korra. I wanted to do a plot based on about,,, 2 avatars after her?? (so the fire and earth ones) and cycle back to the airbending avatar and such. some characters from the atla and lok series will be mentioned, however pretty much none of them are still alive. BUT you are more than welcome to create characters from their bloodlines. (even if the show never had a bloodline for them: for example, sokka and suki didnt have kids).
NOTE: before i forget, this is a more modern setting, so think closer to our own current time!
RULES ⋆⋆ This will be a small group roleplay. I will be allowing no more than about 4 or 5 others to join. that being because the avatar (Reign) will be needing other benders to guide her, and a team avatar.
⋆ Relationships will develop, whether it be with randoms/side characters, or within the group itself. Please do not throw a fit if a ship doesn't work out, please let everything play out like it would in real life, unless you guys really want a relationship. If you really truly want to plan relationships, then feel free to do so, but romance should be something that escalates in the roleplay.⋆ Do not rush anyone for replies. Think of this as a side roleplay, where you reply when you grow bored. Don't constantly like someones post just because you want them to reply to you. This doesnt mean to reply once and then never again. While it will be a side rp, i want it to be active and long lasting.⋆ Absolutely no character is perfect, so avoid making yours as such. I trust that no one will, but still worth saying anyways.⋆ Please be semi-advanced and literate. A majority of us aren't in middle school, no reason to write like we are. There is autocorrect for a reason. Please also try to write 3+ sentences per post at the very minimum. If you are low on muse, just tell us.⋆ Most importantly do not post a claim, and then never roleplay. Because thats just annoying in general. You will be removed and you spot will be opened back up if you post, and two weeks go by without a single rolplay starter from you.⋆ I, -` gumi ´- .✫ 🐾 , will decide how long and where the characters will be going. I am more than open to suggestions of places, and if more than one person suggests a specific place, the group will most likely stay longer. However, the group will most likely not stay in places longer than a month. Eventually/every now and then, the group will stop randomly to give whomever breaks and to give them a bunch of fun shit to do. that stuff. What happens with this will be decided in rp. reference. calm, collected, caring, energetic, extremely stubborn and optimistic, as well as introverted. has a flying bison named sable. she also has a ring tailed winged lemur named kiki, as well as a few hermit crabs and cats at home- she loves animals. subtypes learned will be unknown atm. born in the western air temple, and a distant relative to Aang and Katara, moved to republic city after being named the avatar to work on her airbending, and gather the other benders to master the teachings of the other elements. Patient, steadfast, and loyal. Daiyu is generally bright-natured and eager to help. He bends over backwards to please even strangers and always swallows any bitterness or darker emotions with a beatfific smile that hardly looks strained now. He is the youngest son of overbearing Earth kingdom nobility and the result of cheating to boot, which has resulted in his always feeling the need to justify his existence. He had mastered airbending to the best of his ability despite heavy disapproval from his mostly earthbender family and has been essentially ex-communicated since leaving to train under masters at the Southern Air Temple at 16. He desperately clings to Team Avatar in a bid to find his purpose, as he believes airbending to be the only skill or trait he has to offer. He has mastered levitation and spiritual projection(?) through sheer hard work and tireless dedication but still despairs that he isn't skilled or knowledgable enough to train the avatar. Oz's almost preternatural intuition and perceptiveness results in his being incredibly smug. Almost insufferably so, as he's just smug in a palpable way that doesn't require his verbally communicating that he knows something (everything) you don't. Knowledge of the future, or at least how much or how little fortune will favor it, also makes for a naturally cool mien. He likes to appear levelheaded and unflappable, taking charge when others are panicking to calmly steer the situation in whichever way he sees fit. Even so, he tries to avoid the spotlight, though he can certainly work it if necessary. Oz is commanding and controlling, delighting in the power that divination gives him over others and always acting in his best interests. Or so he'd like you to believe- He seems adept at coming up with selfish reasons to do good. Auspice is flirtatious but only for the sake of control or trickery. He's a member of the Red Monsoon Triad but has a 'legitimate' business as a diviner, consultant, and informant. Auspice joins Team Avatar purely for his own reasons but pretends to be sympathetic to her cause. He excels in healing and bloodbending, but keeps the latter a secret. [ endingfairy ]

reference. A dorky nerd girl, Lanfen deals a lot with anxiety and tends to hide away most of the time. She’s incredibly smart though and a gifted metal bender. She typically prefers bending crystals over rocks and hates getting dirty. I feel like she’s an inventor type of character and very creative. She grew up on Kiyoshi Island with her Airbender dad and Earthbender mom. However she later moved to Republic City. She has a pet crococat named Bao, he’s her emotional support animal and she takes him everywhere with her.

Inou was considered unteachable at first, due to her notoriously short temper and sharp tongue, though these qualities mellowed out with training. Unbeknownst to most, Inou discovered she was an earthbender a little before being taken in, but due to a morbid accident occurring within discovery, she refused, and still refuses, to acknowledge this side of herself "for good" and hides her abilities away. Kenji is not part of the main cast, but will likely show up. He’s Zei’s younger brother and a nonbender. He’s currently living in the Fire Nation, taking over the role of “heir” even though he’s a nonbender and both his older siblings ran away. He’s a silly guy and is currently pretending to be a firebender using tricks. It was the current Fire Lord’s idea to save face after Zei and Sorin ran away. He has a pet dragon moose (male) he rides named Katashi and a messenger hawk (female) named Airi.

reference. very stoic and awkward in social situations. has been told he is his great-great grandfather made over. has a hard time expressing emotions and humor, but is always willing to lend an ear and provide support where needed. has a male wolfdog named shado and a male fire ferret named tenga. uses dual broadswords like his great-great grandfather, firelord zuko, but also uses throwing knives and excels in hand-to-hand combat. brother to zei and kenji. was born to be crown prince of the fire nation, but was passed over for his sister for being a non-bender. since they ran away, kenji was left to take the role of heir.

( Daiyu actually tries very hard to appear huggable lol- because friends! He will accept Lanfen tearfully and hover anxiously around Zei because he isn't sure how to convey hug-ability with someone so averse to it. Probably would just serve her tea kkk

Lanfen is allll about the hugs, and i feel like Kenji would like hugs too. Zei says she doesn’t and she definitley doesn’t act huggable, but she probably gives some of the best hugs.

Republic city was huge. Gorgeous, but huge. It took more than a day to even see all the sights possible, that was, unless you had a flying bison. Luckily for Reign, thats exactly what she had. Sable was her best friend- her ride or die. She was always there whenever the young avatar needed her. She was currently sat atop the beasts head, whistling a soft tune that she had heard playing in the tea shop where she had picked up Mika. It was a cheery tune, evening resulting in the boy sat in the saddle behind her to hum along. Kiki, her silly little lemur that sprawled on her shoulders, even chirped along happily. The sun was shining, high in the sky, illuminating the building that she was leading the flying animal to. The young girl couldn't help but grin, moving the reigns to guide the bison towards the glowing air temple that sat on the out skirts of Republic City.
As soon as Sable landed, Reign slipped off and stretched her arms above her head, yawning widely. She hadn't slept in what felt like forever, especially since she wasn't exactly where she was, well, supposed to be. See, Reign was supposed to be helping. Helping the earth kingdom fight off their tyrannical leader. It was what she was created to do. But it wasn't easy. Not when she was on her lonesome. Well, not completely, she had Kiki, Sable and Mika. Mika wasn't much help though- he was just as unsure as Reign was herself. It was a never ending job, being the avatar. It wasn't something she particularly enjoyed. Hell, she preferred if she had just been born a regular old air bender. Of course the world had to work against her, though.
Reign shook the thoughts away from her mind and made her way up towards the air temple entrance, surely they'd have some scrolls or books about the other elements here, right? After all, one of her old lives had built this place. She just needed the information to help her learn the other styles of bending. She had barely even managed to perfect the element she had been born with. Part of her felt that the elders had made a mistake when they arrived at the Western Air Temple. They had picked her out of many other air bending children, claiming she was special and had a gift.
But Reign disagreed. She had heard stories of her past lives, how they had all mastered their own elements at a young age before moving on to master the other three. She doubted her own abilities, regardless of how she outwardly portrayed herself. Not many knew of her thoughts that fought her constant optimism though. Reign, however, was not going to let that start today.
Looking towards Mika, she smiled. "Will you watch Sable for a moment? I won't be long." She didn't even wait for a reply, before she rushed inside the temple. She would be in and out before anyone noticed- and she would be able to get back to that tea shop to read any books or scrolls she finds.

Mika was never one to complain, especially not to a new friend that offered an adventure he couldn't refuse. When Reign, who he understood to be the avatar, asked him to join her to teach her styles of non-bending fighting, the young man happily obliged. They met a few days ago, in a lovely little tea shop that some man named Iroh had founded when republic city was first born. It had his pictures all over the walls, as well as images of the past avatar, Aang and his gang. The gang in which included his great-great-great Grandfather and Grandmother, Sokka and Suki, as well as the late fire lord Zuko. It was a lovely historical landmark that Reign had to physically drag Mika out of to get their trip going.
However, the two always ended back up at the tea shop. And without a doubt, they would tonight as well. When Reign slipped off of Sable, the flying bison that the two were riding, he barely caught the words the avatar uttered. Mika was so lost in his thoughts, daydreaming about history and how it was slowly repeating itself by the ancestors of the main group. It excited him, actually. He sat up slowly, watching as the young girl bounded into the air temple. He fixed his dark blue cloak and leaned back again. She didn't need him to answer- he obviously wasn't going anywhere. Though, he wasn't expecting her to take too long.
Eventually, Mika listened to Reign return, juggling a few things in hand. The black haired, southern water tribe non-bender raised his eyebrows in surprise. He wasn't expecting nearly as many books and scrolls to be found, and especially not as fast. Reign must have used her air bending skills to sweep through whatever library was in the Republic City Air Temple to find them faster. Leaning forward on his knees, resting his elbows on them and his chin in his hands, he gestured towards her hands as she climbed back onto the flying bison.
"It looks like your adventure was successful. Shall we go think more at the tea shop? Maybe we'll find a new bender or two willing to teach you something more than I can." Mika's words were teasing, but they got the response he wanted.

With a roll of her eyes, Reign took the reigns once more, before calling for the bison to begin flying again. "Sable, yip yip!"
Mika sure wouldn't complain, though. He was going to that historical landmark of a tea shop, and he couldn't wait to get his hands on a new cup of tea. |

You can just have an earth bender if you prefer hmm actually i think i'd like to have the non-bender too,, i've grown too accustomed to bender ocs, might as well spice things up a little for myself (and use some old concepts i had in mind) !! i'll get around to posting these kiddos tomorrow, tysm ! edit : if i remember correctly, in LoK the kyoshi warriors weren't really mentioned (?? so sorry,, i need to rewatch this lol) so i was wondering if there's any chance of incorporating the former into the plot ? (only a question, i know a lot of people theorize differently!) |
