The Territories
The territories are set in a forest with flat ridges and a river cutting through. The territory is somewhat based on the Midwestern United States, more notably Missouri and the Mississippi river. The area is covered with many herbs and trees. The main prey is small animals like birds, squirrels, rabbits and mice, but a fish or two may not be out of the question, though rather rare. Deer roam in the area, though are almost impossible for even a group of cats to catch. The main enemies are coyotes, bobcats and foxes, though a black bear or two cannot be ruled out. Other native animals are raccoons, skunks and possums.
Territory map below: (Spoilers to keep it condensed)
Silver Snake: The Silver Snake is an active railroad track that cuts through the Northwest of the territories. Cats are heavily discouraged to hanging around these tracks as the trains tend to pass through here rather fast and unexpectedly.
Leader/Deputy den: Den for the Leader and Deputy. The den is situated above the rest of the camp to keep a watchful eye on everyone. The top of the camp doubles as a meeting rock for leaders and deputies to make clanwide announcements.
Warrior/Elder/Nursery dens: The nursery, elder den and warriors den are all located in a cavern that branches into three separate rooms. The Warriors den is an open entrance, while the elder den entrance is covered in vines and plants to keep the bitter cold Snow-season weather out and the Flood-season rains out. The nursery den entrance is also covered in plants, but also fortified with thorns and brambles to keep any potential intruders or kit-thieves out. Permanent kitsitters and soon-to-be mothers reside in here. In the middle of all the dens is a small clearing with a large rock in the middle. The cats go here to rest, share tongues, and talk about their day, as well as whenever a leader calls for votes on important matters or calls for patrols for important reasons. (The map is spoilered below to keep things condensed)
Healer den: The clan healer and their apprentice reside here and treat ill and injured clanmates. The den is located conveniently next to the warriors', elders', and nursery dens so they can quickly reach ailing elders and queens.
Apprentice den: The apprentices reside here. The den has areas for them to practice climbing, jumping, and an area to practice battle moves.
The Falls: A waterfall that drains the river down to the river's secondary lower tier. Cats are advised to be careful in these areas, especially during snow-season, especially since the water becomes icy cold and choppy.
Eternal Den: This is the final resting place of fallen and deceased clanmates. It is considered disrespectful to speak loudly in this area, so as to not disturb the spirits who rest here. Legend says that you may see the ghosts of cats walking around in the middle of the night...
The Ridge: This is where the cats generally hunt and practice skills such as climbing and escaping dangerous situations. The Ridge has a steep drop down to the Eternal Dens
Star Tree: A half dead tree on a small island. Leaders go here to receive their nine lives. The leader must successfully climb the tree at moonhigh to be accepted as the new leader. If they fail, they will not receive their nine lives. If the leader is unable to physically climb the tree for any reason, they must travel to Starfall Place instead to see if they will be accepted as the leader instead.
Starfall Place: The Starfall Place is a giant prater surrounded by many tall rocks that make it hard to pass without using the tunnel. Legend has it there was a star that fell long ago that left in it's place an opal. The gem is surrounded by a small pool of water. Cats are welcome to come here to seek help or guidance from The Other Side.
Weather:
In flood-season, it tends to rain quite a bit and sometimes flood the rivers. Some storms may become severe and cause hailstones and high winds. The camps are designed to withstand potential twisters that touch down on the ground and protect cats from potential harm. The temperature is usually mild. Many plants sprout up during this time.
In sun-season, the heat can become unbearable during the day. The humidity tends not to change much and severe storms may still be a problem. Many times the cats won't begin hunting until closer to dusk.
In the leaf-season, the temperature and weather are both very mild and pleasant.
In the snow-season, snowstorms and blizzards are very infrequent. Prey may retreat into the caves for warmth, but besides that, prey is typically scarce. The cold may become bitter and usually several cats die to the cold temperatures. They may huddle much closer together, and warriors and apprentices may huddle with elders and queens and kitsitters to keep them warm during these cold periods.

Standard apprentices must have at least one FULL moon of healer training before they may receive their warrior name. This may be from their mentors or the clan healer. Healer apprentices, likewise, must have one full moon of warrior training before they receive their full names as well.
New warriors must have their ceremony before sunset. The warrior will then travel to the Eternal Den and will stay on guard. They may talk, but very quietly so as to not disturb the resting.
New full healers must go to the Starfall Place to receive their full name before the cats of the Other Side.

[Vervainfrost || entering camp/camp || Mistcloud, open]
The stars sparkled above, and a gentle early flood-season wind ruffled the furry figure of two cats walking through the forest. They walked side by side, the fluffier gray tom rather sulking behind. The cat besides him, Vervainfrost, looked concerned. The two suddenly stopped, and she halted beside him.
"What am I gonna do? What will I tell the clan, and who do I even send to the Star Tree next?" Mistcloud paced around uneasily. "The clan needs a leader to stay together..."
Vervainfrost felt a tinge of sadness as she faced her kithood friend. He was supposed to become leader tonight. Ryestar had lost his last life just after sunhigh earlier, and Mistcloud had yet to choose a deputy, since it was after sunhigh. He was planning to gain his lives, then go announce his choice.Tonight had been perfect to gain his lives- it was starting to get warmer, and the sky was mostly clear besides several stray clouds. Yet, Vervainfrost watched Mistcloud get halfway up the tree before the branch snapped beneath him and he plummeted down to the earth with a rather hard 'thud'... He and Vervainfrost both knew what it meant, to his dismay.
"You have to tell them, Mistcloud. Like you said, this clan needs a leader." She touched his shoulder comfortingly with her tail.
He looked over at them. They could tell he wasn't very comforted, but he appreciated the effort. "Yeah... I can't dodge this. Maybe we could send a senior warrior or something..." he mumbled as they continued their way back to the camp.
The cats were all chattering away when they came through the entrance, which caused a shift of energy. Whatever they were talking about seemed much less important than the two returning. "Miststar!, Miststar!" they echoed through the camp, though the name just went through one ear and out the other. Cats immediately ran over to begin to congratulate him, but he disregarded them all, and simply walked past without saying a word, heading into the deputy and leader's den. He flopped onto his pile of moss, turning his back to the entrance and prying eyes of his clanmates.
Vervainfrost watched him, rather helpless to do anything about the scenario. Some cats looked at her confusedly, seeming to expect an explanation from her. She debated on what she would say, or if Mistcloud would be the one to say it to his clanmates...
[Mistcloud || leader and deputy den || open]
Mistcloud flopped down on the moss, then turned away from the clan with his back to the entrance. He heard the chants die down, but some were still cheering him.
"Miststar! Miststar!" He heard them, and his face twisted into an expression of irritation almost. 'Quit! I'm Mistcloud, not Miststar!' he thought bitterly. He felt his gut aching with disappointment and frustration for everything going on.

When her brother, Mistcloud padded into camp, his head low, Lilacstream knew something was wrong. He never had looked so upset. Mistcloud had basically stomped through the crowd to this leader/deputy den. Lilacstream slid through the crowd and settled down beside him. "You failed didn't you." Lilacstream's tone was not harsh of gloating. It was soft, and gentle. She knew this would be hard for him. "Mistcloud, you can pout all you want, but it's not going to change it. This clan needs a leader, and you get the joy of picking that cat." She knew that she sounded harsh, but Mistcloud needed to know that life must go on.

He heard a cat creep into the den.
"You failed, didn't you?"
The question stabbed at him, but still, he turned around to face his sister, expression turning into one of worry and sadness again. "...yes." He almost hesitated to answer. He listened to her again before sitting back up. "I know I can't change this. This isn't my choice to make. It's just really hard when you work towards something for so long only for it to be ripped from under your paws at the last minute,you know?" He didnt sound angry or furious, just quiet.
"I don't even know where to go from here... The cats need a leader, and a good, strong one at that. Who would I even send next?" He looked at her for an answer. Out of the corner of his eye, though, he saw something in the leader nest he hadn't seen before. Mistcloud's tone changed to one of confusion as he walked over to see what it was.
In the nest was a couple of small brilliant flowers clumped together on a plant that looked like a cat's tail. "A vervain? When did this get here?" He picked it up in his jaws.
[Vervainfrost || healer den || open]
Vervainfrost watched as not very long after he went in, Lilacstream followed suit. 'She'll be able to give him some comfort. She's good at that.' She only smiled slightly, before cats began to bombard her with questions.
"Whats going on?"
"Is Miststar okay?"
"What happened there?"
They didn't feel like it was really their place to talk about it. She raised her tail to silence the cats. "Mistcloud will answer your questions when he's ready. This isn't something for me to say on his behalf."
The cats quietly talked amongst themselves as she went into her den. She began to sort through her stash of herbs and her mind wandered. She could count on her paws how many times a potential leader had been rejected from starclan, and the last one wo was rejected was Wolfthorn, who, unbeknownst to the clan, had been a spy of the Blood Paws, and was fiercely loyal to them. He conspired with a group of wanderers to completely rip apart the clan and everything it was to change it so he and his gang would never lift a paw to do the work, and still be treated like royalty. When he fell, he was almost up the tree when the branch snapped and he landed harder than Mistcloud had. The difference was he didn't land on his paws, and the fall actually killed him. Vervainfrost had only been a kit when this happened, but their previous mentor Owltail told her all of this. Mistcloud was neither greedy, nor loyal to the Blood Paws, so why did he get rejected?
She had no answers as she continued to sort and stash herbs, tossing aside old and unusable ones.

.-Sunstreak - Leader/deputy den | Miststar-. Sunstreak was in the crowd of cats cheering for their new leader, Miststar, when he spotted the tom walking away. He noted that they hardly even stayed to appreciate the cheering. Quickly, he followed the leader into the den. He tip-toed in, trying to be as quiet as possible. "Miststar? Are you okay?" He whispered softly, trying to compete with the noise outside. |

He turned his head, hardly hearing the tom come in initially. He set the flower he found down, a dull look in his eyes. He hesitated before answering. "I was rejected... The branch I was on broke, and The Other Side spoke... I don't know what to do or who to send next now." He stared at the flower that laid at his paws, feeling shame talking about it. It wasn't like he necessarily did anything wrong, or at least he thought so. Maybe there was just someone they wanted a bit more. Or maybe he did something wrong. The other side never really voiced disdain for him at all in the past? "This clan can't just be leaderless, though."

Mintnight whished for a sign that there new clan leader was still alive in his den,but with the new clan Miststar still not coming out to eat,Mintnight made up her mind that she would pay him a vist."Hey, sleepy head,I know you have nine lives and all,but you wouldn't want to wast your first life on something mousebrained like starvation when there is enough food to go around,"and tossed a vole in his direction. Mintnight had never been close with Miststar,and treated him the same way as she did with all her other clanmates(besides her younger sister Hazelkit of coures)but she wanted to make sure all her clanmates where happy and healthy."And yes,I did organize a hunting patrol because you haven't chosen a deputy yet,but what eles am I spose to do,wait untill you come out of your den,severl moons later.I don't think so."

.-Sunstreak - The leader/deputy's den | Vervainfrost-. Sunstreak realized it was far too crowded in the den, so he quickly made his way out. Suddenly, he found himself in front of Vervainfrost. "Sorry, Vervainfrost." Sunstreak apologized to them quickly after bumping into them. "Quickly, I was wondering, would you like to go hunting sometime? I might invite some other cats, but I feel as though the fresh-kill pile could use some re-stocking." He added quickly. |

[Mistcloud || Leader den || Sunstreak, Mintnight, Lilacstream, Silverbranch]
Mintnight and Silverbranch arrived, and his pelt began to bristle mildly out of stress with the amount of clanmates who began crowding him for answers. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything...
"Thank you, Mintnight... I probably should eat. And thank you for running the hunting patrols. Tonight has just been a bit... hectic." He stated.
[Vervainfrost || Leader den ]
Vervainfrost watched as others began to enter the den. She was finished sorting out her herb stash, so they decided to go see why they were all crowding him. This stress couldn't be good for him on top of the disappointment of tonight.
They narrowed their eyes and climbed up towards the den. "Hey, there's no need to cause more stress on him right now with you guys crowding him... Give him a bit of space. He's going to make the announcement about what's going on as soon as he finishes his food, isn't that right, Mistcloud?" She turned to the cat and spotted the flower, but said nothing. Mistcloud quietly nodded.
"Good... I would like everyone to leave his den so he could have a moment of peace, if I could..." She turned to Sunstreak who accidentally bumped into her. "No troubles at all- we can discuss that in a minute, but could I talk to you in my den?" She asked, sending the other cats off

.-Sunstreak | Camp clearing | Open-. Sunstreak nodded eagerly. "See you in a bit!" He called, excited he finally ( possibly) get a chance to bond with another cat. He was far to excited to acknowledge that Vervainfrost had asked him to discuss it. He quickly settled down in the clearing, grabbing a mouse on his way over. Aww. I feel like Sunstreak is kind of lonesome, so I hope he and Vervainfrost can have a good friendship  ]] |
