Mintnight
Mintnight need to talk to Vervainfrost about the deputy position,because if she would lead them,then they needed a deputy that would help and provied all the warrior skills Vervainfrost hadn't learned. And Mintnight knew the right cat for this job.
When they were walking,Mintnight was looking for the perfect place to not only trip but also to have Sunstreak go get feathers while Vervainfrost was helping her. And when they were passing a spot Mintnight knew had a bird nest near by,there was a root that was sticking above the ground to trip on.At this point Mintnight was leading the way,so it was easy to trip.
Mintnight glaced one last time at the root befor going back to talking and hoping her plan worked,"So,who do you think will give you your nine lives,Vervainfrost,I mean..."Her plan went perfectly,with one paw getting stuck under the root,and ending with her head slaming on the ground.It did hurt some,but Mintnight knew it was needed."...Owwww!!Gosh that hurt,"Mintnight looked up and saw Vervainfrost standing right infront of her in suprised,"And right in front of the new clan leader too."And the deputy also if I can get this to go right,She thougt as she stoud up in pain."Are you ok?"Vervainfrost said as she helped Mintnight up."Should...Should we head back to camp?"Sunstreak asked,but befor Vervainfrost could answer, Mintnight cut in"I'm fine,just need a bit to rest here.But while I rest you two can go get the feathers,you can hear the birds for here."And that was right,but Vervainfrost shock They head."Even if you are feeling better,I think it's for the best if I stay with you."
Sunstreak looked worried about this but went toward the bird once they all agreed apon this,and as soon as she was out of sight,Mintnight cut to the chase."Make Sunstreak your deputy,"She said in a blunt voice."No,I didn't get a vison,or omen,or any thing from the Other Side to tell me this, but what I do have is a brain that is not full of mice and voles.And what it says is that Sunstreak is the only option for deputyship you have a close frendship with,or close enogh any way."

Vervainfrost had insisted on staying besides Mintnight when she had tripped, leaving Sunstreak to go ahead and gather feathers. It caught them off guard when Mintnight's commanding voice began to talk about Sunstreak.
Vervainfrost listened to what she had to say. She had no doubt in her mind that Sunstreak would be a great deputy and would help her lead the clan in the ways she couldn't. She wasn't sure if the clan would've agreed with her choice, but Mintnight's input reassured them. "I actually agree with you... I hadn't been 100% sure on my choice yet, but like you mentioned, Sunstreak would be a good deputy. To be honest, I'm shocked The Other Side didn't pick him instead." She took a second to pick a burr out from her pelt. "The only reason I didn't say anything yet was because I was worried about if the clan would think the same way."

Morning had wanted to go with the others on their little outing, (even though she did not know what they were doing) but they left without her! It's not like she asked to go with them or anything, but she thought that sitting behind them during the meeting was enough. She had nothing better to do anyway, no mentor to take her out... yet. She had not yet been re-assigned a mentor after... the incident. So she thought she might as well practice her tracking skills. She followed the cats scent until it stopped, and she hid in a bush. Mintnight had fallen on a root, but Morningpaw knew enough about tricks and pranks to know that Mintnight had done it on purpose. Mintnight told the others to go ahead, that she would be fine, but Vervainfrost stayed behind to help her up. This was the interesting part of the interaction. Mintnight got real close to Vervainfrost and told her to make Sunstreak deputy. Vervainfrost looked surprised for a moment, but then agreed with her. Morningpaw gasped, then face planted into the dirt to try and hide it. This probably only made more noise for the others to hear. Sunstreak was going to become deputy?! That was great! And Morningpaw knew before the ceremony even happened. Morningpaw LOVED secrects, even if this one would not be kept for long....

Mintnight didn't know why Vervainfrost would think of themself so low,she was a amazing healer and helped out everone in the clan.But ever cat would selfdout them self,but that only showed that they where willing to say when they were wrong,which would be good to have in a leader."Look at me Vervainfrost," Mintnight said in a much softer voice,"You are strong,brave,and honest.And from what I've seen from you during the walk is that you are kind,ok to say your insecurities,and that you are willing to lead even if you aren't sure your the right choice.This last one I could never do,but your brave enough to try and take on the role of leadership."Mintnight lowered her head to touch nose with Vervainfrost,and whispered it to there ear,"Vervainfrost,your exactly what this clan needs."

The Jack looked at the other, listening intently on what she had to say. She felt a warmness and appreciation in her chest for the other cat, feeling slightly emotional at the words. "Thank you, Mintnight... It means so much to me." She purred quietly. "I believe if you really put your heart to it, you could do anything you wanted to. You're a headstrong cat, and I don't think even the Other Side could keep you from your goals, even if they wanted to." They quietly chuckled. "And I do mean that, too." They gave the other a friendly boop on the shoulder as a thank you.
Their ear twitched slightly and could've sworn she had heard something. "Is someone there?" Vervainfrost called into the darkness quietly. She was concerned that maybe a wanderer was stalking them, or worse, another animal like a raccoon had found the group. There was nothing to really worry about because unknowing to her, it was just Morningpaw.

.-Sunstreak | Hunting feathers | Mintnight, Vervainfrost-.
Sunstreak had been out patrolling with Vervainfrost and Mintnight, but before long, Mintnight had tripped themself over a large root. Sunstreak was surprised that such an experienced warrior would miss the root, but he simply nodded at the request to continue his mission to find feathers.
While he padded deeper into the territory, he noticed two birds' nests up in a tree. This would hopefully mean plenty of feathers nearby. He circled the tree, picking up two blackbird feathers along the way.
He was about to inspect a different tree when a flash of blue caught his eye. A jay! Those birds were particularly rare to see. Immediately, he thought about hunting it. Thankfully, the jay was clueless about the predator. He made a leap, and while the jay tried to flap away, he managed to give it a killing bite before it could fly away. He gave a silent thanks to his ancestors for helping him catch such a rare piece of fresh-kill.
He trotted back to where Mintnight had fallen and presented her with the feathers and the fresh-kill. "Here, eat this," Sunstreak meowed, using his paw to push forward the jay. "For strength to get back to camp." |

Morningpaw|Spying on Vervainfrost, Sunstreak, Mintnight|
Morningpaw looked back up at the cats on the other side of her hiding spot. Vervainfrost seemed to have heard her, but the two cats didn't come to investigate. Strange. Then, Morningpaw heard pawsteps approaching. Sunstreak camp up the rise from the other side, a jay in his jaw. He gave it to Mintnight, say that Mintnight needed strength to get back to camp. Maybe Sunstreak will become my mentor. Then a scent hit Morningpaw. A mouse! Morningpaw turned and followed the scent. The scent twisted and turned, and she felt like she was going i circles. Then she saw it. It was skinny, but it would feed the clan if she caught it. She slid into a hunting crouch, remembering to keep her tail still. She krpt up and it... and then she leaped! Morningpaw missed the mouse by a second, skidding through the bush and into the clearing beyond. Three cats turned to face her. She had stumbled into the clearing that Vervainfrost, Sunstreak, Mintnight were in. Morning paw gulped down her embarrassment. "Um... hello! Fancy seeing you here, Vervainfrost, Sunstreak and Mintnight."

Sunstreak was giving the jay to Mintnight, when a new wave of cat scent flooded him. He spun around, prepared to attack, when Morningpaws awkward mew, made his pelt lay flat. "Morningpaw! Why are you here?" Sunstreak was surprised to see them. He gave a sigh, before flicking his tail dismissively. "Alright, then. You can help us."

Vervainfrost spun around to face the 'intruder', finding it to be just Morningpaw. "How long have you been here? You do understand it's not polite to sneak up on others like that? I thought you were a hostile wanderer..." She said half-jokingly. The fur on their pelt flattened at ease. "As Sunstreak said, you can assist us." She flicked her tail a bit. "One of the first things I'll do if I get my lives, maybe sooner, is assign you to a suitable mentor, since Ryestar passed..." Her eyes darkened slightly, still feeling the grief of her father's passing still fresh in her mind.
Their mind wandered several different directions, from who would be Morningpaw's next best mentor, to hoping that Ryestar was resting easily on The Other Side... She missed him and her mother both, but they were finally together again. She remembered the grief and dismay she felt at Creekfeather's passing, but it hit Ryestar so much harder. He really did care for his mate and tried to stay with her to the very end. Afterwards, she remembered Mistcloud and her both having to step in to help with leadership duties until he was able to get back up on his paws again.
For the first time, she really thought about how Mistcloud had handled everything. He handled things fine, but maybe not as smoothly as he could've. Sometimes, cats would come to her talking about if she could suggest patrols and such to him, instead of him just making them up without regard to where and what they had done for the day. Maybe it was just the stars not thinking he was ready for leadership. Maybe that was the reason why the branch broke beneath him tonight.

"See you then!" He said to Silverbranch before getting up. Cats were going along their merry ways. He was lost in thought for a bit, pacing around camp before accidentally running into a cat. "Whoos! Sorry..." he replied to the other cat.

While they were all walking back,Mintnight noticed that Vervainfrost had a somber look on there,the one that meant they were thinking of a better life,but knew they had to settle with the one she had.This same expretion was the one Mintnight had every time she visited the nursey to see Hazelkit.Mintnight loved Hazelkit,but wished her father would come in with fresh kill they could all share,or Tawnyfur would tell a story about the founding of Wheatclan,and right next to Hazelkit would be two other small kits to take care of.This was the life that could never happen,but would always be what Mintnight wanted,not just for her,but for Hazelkit too.
"Vervainfrost,I can tell that you are are thinking about the past."Mintnight knew that Vervainfrost must be dealing with alot of greife right now too.There father just died in the same flood that killed Tawnyfur,and becomeing leader probaly didn't help."You can tell about, I....I know what it feels like to lose almost everone you love..in...in one night."

Morningpaw bounced around excitedly at the prospect of actually doing something, mixed with grief for her former leader. But, she was finally going to get a mentor soon! Morningpaw padded alongside Sunstreak, trying to engage in the conversation. As they neared camp, Verianfrost was pulled aside by Mintnight again, so Morningpaw turned to Sunstreak. "Who do you think my mentor is going to be? Who do you think the next deputy will be?" Morningpaw was so excited that she didn't realize that she was overwhelming Sunstreak. "What do you think my warrior name will be?"

Sunstreak looked at the apprentice blinking. The words came out of her mouth almost like a dim buzz to him. He was never one to be highly intrigued by conversation, and an overexcitable apprentice talking to him didn't seem exactly popular in his mind.
He looked back, seeing Mintnight and Vervainfrost speaking, and as much as Sunstreak wished that they were there to cut the apprentice off, they seemed busy, and he didn't want to intrude.
Sunstreak turned back to the apprentice. His eyes shining with uncertainty, still feeling overwhelmed by Morningpaw's high-pitched meowing. "I don't know. Who do you want your mentor to be?" He replied boldly, hoping to not press any further on who the next deputy would be. He didn't like the topic, as it brought up bad memories. Memories that made him remember Mistcloud's unfortunate attempt at becoming leader, and the thought that made him imagine what had happened. The panicked feeling, the disappointment, perhaps even betrayal. |

Morningpaw|Stressing out Sunstreak| NettleMorningpaw thought for a second about Sunstreaks question. That made her think of her last mentor, and that made her think about how old she was. She was nine moons, not to old, she still had four more moons before she became a warrior, but not very young either. Maybes she should start acting like it. And I still have to do my moon of healer training.... "That's a good question. I think you would be a good mentor, maybe Lilacstream, but she may be to soft for me. Mintnight is fun too, but she will do anything to get attention. Cypressheart is nice too, but I don't know him that well. Oh! Oh! Mistcloud would be a good mentor as well, and he might want the challenge. Might make him feel better."

Mintnight was trying to get Vervainfrost to talk when sudenly she realized that they where about to be in camp."Fine,don't want to talk,it's ok.Just be ready to see alot of familar faces when you have your nine live and...and"she choked up and this last word because she didn't want to think about it but Mintnight had to know."And if you see any of my kin up there,tell me what they say.Also put me on guard dutie right befor you go so I can be the first one to tell you this is real."And with that they walked quietly the rest of the way.

Mintnight looked at her sister,littel Hazelkit.She was so cute,small,and sweet,but she always had a way of getting her way.Even with her tricks thoug,Hazelkit would never not be one of her first priorites.
"Hazelkit,look what I got you,"and Mintnight showed her one blue jay fether and another red feather that didn't come from any bird the clan had seen.This second one they found close to a silver snake so it most likely droped by a silver snake.
As soon as Mintnight droped the two feathers to the ground Hazelkit bolted to them and started playing with them and ran off to the nursery. With that Mintnight looked up at Vervianfrost who was now putting the two new black feathers Hazelkit got them."Go anounce your deputy,then rest till night,when you and Mudskip,or whoever you want to stand at the bottom of the trunk and wait for,will go."

She spoke "Thank you sister!" and she blew the feathers in the air prancing around while they fell on her she caught them in her mouth and set them down beside her and snuggled then slept

It was getting late and she yawned. The sun was setting and wonderful colour filled the sky. She leaped up from the rocks and made her way to the warrior den as she wasn't hungry. She flopped in her nest and fell asleep.
