Did Frostpaw just get spayed??? And is Curlfeather not in Starclan?

For the love of... we're skipping to trying again? What was the point of Chapter 5? Seriously?

I broke the RiverClan to save the RiverClan. Also, nice for Moth Flight to get involved, despite being a WindClan med cat.

Okay, now it's time for Riverstar! Finally! Also, I really hope this isn't implying that Curlfeather is in the Dark Forest. I know Frostpaw saw her spirit before (or at least thought she had), but I also wouldn't be surprised if she was rejected assuming she was involved in Reedwhisker's murder, but for Frostpaw's sake, this poor cat has been through too much already, including probably getting spayed just now. I feel bad for Whistlepaw, too!

Well so goes those plans of having kits with Splashtail and naming one after her mother! I guess Smoky didn't think they would actually spay her? Either way, poor Frostpaw just keeps getting beaten down and yet another traumatic event occuring. She's this arc's Shadowsight. 

Might just be me, but I am kind of frustrated with StarClan, namely Misty and Reed here, just refusing to give Frostpaw answers or clarity. Riverstar also dodging the question of whether or not Curlfeather is in StarClan is suspicious, though it was already unclear if that spirit Frostpaw saw was actually here. I'm assuming the companion Riverstar is referring to will be Nightheart.

Also, I'd like to point out that seeing the cutter is correlated with being more lazy, so Frostpaw's got a lot to learn

Nightheart is still waiting for his Clanmates, who are now crouching at the water’s edge, to begin the sacred ritual. He wonders how Sunbeam was doing, certain she had passed her trial as the kits already caught two voles when he left and hopes that Ivypool passed on his message. He feels guilty she would be spending her second night alone in ThunderClan. The cold having reached his bones, he gets up and stretches and as he is walking around the hollow edge notices RiverClan scent and quietly jumps down the boulders to investigate. He remembers that Curlfeather had died at this place and remembering what Sparkpelt told him, wonders if it’s Frostpaw’s scent. He eventually finds Frostpaw with her eyes closed and wounded. To wake her up, he pokes her. She gets up, terrified and asks who he is. Nightheart introduces himself and promises not to hurt her. She eyes him warily and tells him some cat tried to kill her when Nightheart points out she is injured. When offering to bring her a medicine cat, she refuses and he promises to tell no other cat about her. He sees threads covering her wounds and asks if she has already seen a medicine cat and notes that if she did, they did a good job. Frostpaw admits a Twoleg helped her, which makes sense to Nightheart as the threads didn’t look like anything a medicine cat could do. When he offers he an escort home she tells him no cat in her Clan can know she is alive as one of them tried to kill her. Nightheart wonders if she was in her right mind as she had lost lots of blood, but Frostpaw asserts there is something wrong in RiverClan and the recent three deaths wasn’t bad luck. She asks if she can trust him and tells him about her vision and that StarClan sent him to help her. Nightheart initially refuses to join her, thinking about Sunbeam and his already leaving ThunderClan before. Frostpaw’s gaze doesn’t waver and she tries to goad him into joining her by making him jealous as StarClan said that they would be sending an amazing cat and not him and he would be missing his chance to save all the Clans and become famous. She tells him that this journey would help avoid a battle between all the Clans, which gets Nightheart’s attention, as it brings up his old fear of what Sunbeam would do in that situation. He inquires more about the journey and her vision. He thinks that by going on this journey, no one would think of him as just Firestar’s kin – he’d be Nightheart and they’d respect him for who he was, not who he was related to. Frostpaw admits she doesn’t know how far this journey is but Nightheart agrees to come, mostly because to protect this cat in need. Much to Nightheart’s shock, Frostpaw says they have to leave now. NIghtheart goes to tell the other ThunderClan cats there, but their noses are now touching the water and he doesn’t want to disturb them. He silently apologizes to Sunbeam/his Clan and they head into the bracken. He asks her which way to go, and as the dawn sunshine lights her face, she responds, “This way”.

Exactly! Why bother keeping secrets when in the last book, Mistystar and Reedwhisker are clearly uneasy about ShadowClan's takeover of RiverClan and that RiverClan's been effectively leaderless for...what? Almost a full season now? It's not helping anyone. It would save everyone a lot of trouble, but then we wouldn't have much of a story I guess?

Bruh, they just up and dipping! Also, big lol at Frostpaw appealing to Nightheart's quest for self-identity. Feels bad to be Sunbeam, though.

Of course Nightheart doesn't insist on telling anybody before leaving. It makes sense that Sparkpelt, Finchlight and Sunbeam are going to go after him now. Nightheart continues to be my favorite dumb, impulsive teenager. It's also cute that one of the things that convinces him to join Frostpaw is helping Sunbeam and preventing her from fighting.

I like that this is showing that Nightheart still hasn't completely matured yet. He developed in Shadow, but he hasn't learned enough and is still making hasty decisions. It's clear that he cares so much about Sunbeam, but I worry this will be a tipping point in a potential breakup on Sunbeam's part, cuz this is a super ridiculous move. Still rooting for them, I hope Nightheart doesn't ruin everything!

Also, sassy Frostpaw back at it, with some hilarious gentle manipulation attempts! I love her so much.
