What was the point of choosing Nightheart to go to the moonpool if he was just gonna get sent back lol? What’s up with this Erins??
I’m excited to see Sunbeam’s trials though! Literally that's what I've been saying. What was the point of Nightheart being there if nothing was going to happen?
They just needed him to be a camera again so we can be reminded of Bramblestar and Squirrelflight's super healthy relationship... oh wait... Like what was the point of that chapter?? At least we got reminded of Tree. |

Very disappointed but not surprised I genuinely think this doesn’t confirm rejection for Squilf but instead ups the chances of it happening I don’t even like Bramblestar but StarClan needs to let the poor guy step down |

Very disappointed but not surprised I genuinely think this doesn’t confirm rejection for Squilf but instead ups the chances of it happening Could be that Squirrelflight seemingly gettting "rejected" by Starclan starts placing doubts in the minds of other cats if she's meant to be leader. |

I am not a huge fan of Bramblestar, but I think that he deserves to step down and retire if that's what he really wants. The poor guy needs rest and to live the rest of his life in peace without having to make all these leadership decisions. |

But honestly, I would be really happy if we didn't get another peep about Bramblestar and Squirrelflight for the rest of the book. This is the problem. I should be focusing on our three protags; will Sunbeam pass her trials? What will happen to Frostpaw?
Instead the spotlight is once again shoved onto Bramblestar and Squirrelflight. I shouldn't care about these two. Yet everything so far about Thunder has been me speculating about these two.
I love Bramblestar, but please... just kill them off already. They've both overstayed their welcome at this point. Let them rest. |

Both Rowanclaw and Tigerstar 11 have been leaders for two years. I counted. So has Harestar, actually. Bramblestar has been leader for 5 years. It took 4 years for him to even lose his first life.
Leafstar has been leader for 10 years. Yeah... I don't want her to die because I really like her, but I'm convinced someone on the team forgot about the SkC timeline because they didn't live at the lake but instead the gorge. SkC was too far away at the time... probably.

Isn't there a several year gap between when Cherrytail was pregnant with her kits in the SkyClan trilogy (I think it was that?) and when we actually see Hawkpaw, Blossompaw, Cloudpaw, and Duskpaw in Ravenpaw's Farewell? I think this is the likely case, honestly. It's not the first time they've messed up the timeline. |

Chapter 6
Ivypool allows for Nightheart, Sparkpelt and Finchlight to spectate Sunbeam during her first trial, much to Sunbeam’s happiness. As they approach the opening surrounded by birch trees, she feels more appreciation for Nightheart performing his trials and feels more love for him. All three of Spotfur’s kits approach her, followed by Spotfur. Ivypool tells her that she needs to catch prey for all the elders but as Sunbeam is rejoicing at this seemingly easy task, Ivypool tells her that she cant catch anything – the kits have to catch all the prey. Sunbeam understands that this is a mentoring trial, not a hunting one. She has until the kits get tired to catch the prey.
She decides to bond with the kits first and is successful in doing so, growing to really like them. They scout for prey and Bristlekit is the first to scent an unfamiliar scent. She has Graykit look for voles in the burrow Bristlekit scented, having him wave his tail when he spots a vole’s tail out of the hole. Sunbeam builds a prey barrier and has Bristlekit chase the vole to Stemkit, the latter who is tasked to kill the prey. They fail the first time but after some tips by Sunbeam catch one. Bristlekit is next to catch the prey and continuing that process, the kits catch 4 voles, Bristlekit catching two. Ivypool and the others come out and congratulate her and the kits, who want to stay and catch more prey. Sunbeam realizes Nightheart is missing and is told that he had to join Squirrelflight and Bramblestar at the Moonpool. She is at first disappointed that he didn’t stay for her full trial when she watched all his trials and feels lonely without him but realizes she shouldn’t feel disappointed when she had Finchlight and Sparkpelt with her, who call her to join them at the fresh-kill pile.

Mentoring trial eh? Maybe Ivypool is trying to give Sunbeam one of Spotfur's kits to mentor as a show of trust, like what Bramblestar did with Twigbranch and Finleap in AVoS. I'm also enjoying her bonding with Sparkpelt and Finchlight! It's such an amusingly stark contrast to how Berryheart treated Fringewhisker and Nightheart. |

Did I miss something or is Sunbeam's trial supposed to be at the same time as when everything in Chapter 5 is happening?

This chapter reminded me of something. Sunbeam stated that she wanted to be a mentor back in River. Now we know that she'll be good at the job because she was able to help the kits learn to hunt so easily. |

Chapter 7
Frostpaw wakes up in StarClan, her wound gone. A StarClan warrior greets her. Her heart seems to recognize him and asks if he is Riverstar, who confirms this. She asks if this a vision, not a dream and asks is she is dead. Riverstar tells her she isn’t but notes that she has suffered and is sorry she had to. Riverstar says that the waters in RiverClan are troubled and the current may wash away the whole Clan. She asks if he could tell her who RiverClan’s new leader should be but he tells her they first need to calm the waters as the trouble has gone too far for a new leader to solve. He tells her to be stronger and not to worry as he will teach her everything she needs to know. He tells her she will need help from the living and dead.
She wakes up in the horseplace, her wound no longer throbbing and closed. Coriander and Smoky show up and ask her how she is feeling. She replies with “better” but glares at Smoky, resenting him for betraying her to a Twoleg. Smoky apologizes but says he had no choice. Frostpaw then notices another wound that wasn’t there previously and Smoky says that Twoleg treatment does that to a lot of she-cats and that it is nothing to worry about and will go away soon. Smoky gives her a mouse and his kindness makes Frostpaw regret being angry at him. She ponders over what Riverstar had told her, irritated how even though StarClan’s visions were more vivid than her vague dreams, they didn’t seem any more helpful.
Whistlepaw visits her and asks what/where the new wound came from. Frostpaw tells her to leave some of her fur to where her blood was when she was attacked when Whistlepaw tells her how Owlnose and Splashtail visited their camp, very worried. Frostpaw feels guilty of making her siblings more miserable but is determined to carry out her plan. She asks Whistlepaw to take her to the Moonpool but Whistlepaw cant as Kestrelflight will get very suspicious by her full-day disappearance. She decides and convinces everyone that she will make the journey to the Moonpool alone. She tells Whistlepaw to let the Clans believe her dead if she never returns.
She reaches the Moonpool by night and smells ThunderClan scent, seeing Bramblestar, Squirrelflight and Alderheart at the Moonpool. She settles behind the shelter of rocks and waits for them to leave, but exhausted, she falls asleep, waking up in StarClan surrounded by Mistystar, Reedwhsiker, Moth Flight and Riverstar. Moth Flight tells her that now that they made contact, they can reach her wherever. Reedwhisker compliments her for what she has been through and her courage and Mistystar tells her they need her. Frostpaw tries to tell them there are better cats to save the Clan like Icewing and Harelight but Riverstar assures her she is capable. He tells her that StarClan wants her to choose RiverClan’s new leader and this time, StarClan will help her. He tells her she needs to make a journey. She must learn and grow and will discover how to put her Clan back together – but first, she must learn how to break her Clan. Frostpaw at this point accepts that she is StarClan’s chosen cat but wants to see Curlfeather first. When she asks Riverstar if she can see her mother, Riverstar says, “Little one…I wish I could do that for you.” When Frostpaw tries to pry, asking if she is safe in StarClan and okay, Riverstar tells her they must focus on the future. Frostpaw wonders if there is some reason as to why they wont let her speak to her mother and why her mother isn’t with them.
Mistsytar tells her they aren’t asking her to do this by herself but Frostpaw tells them that Curlfeather told her to trust no cat. Riverstar tells her she will have a companion and to trust them. She then spots Reedwhisker again and asks if he can tell her who killed her, but Reedwhisker shakes his head sadly. Riverstar tells her she will learn everything when she is ready but now must only think of the future and must trust her companion, whom she will know when she finds them. He tells her that she must leave for her journey by dawn, and no later, as time is running out. He tells her to follow the sunrise.
She wakes up, the moon still hadn’t cleared yet and the ThunderClan cats are still at the Moonpool waiting. She leaves the Moonpool, follows a different path and rests, telling herself she’d figure everything out when she woke as she knew she would do everything it took to save her Clan.
