(Group reply!!) Hollyleaf)>> Valleyfern watched Tigersong go after her suggestion. That one, he seemed to respond with a slightly conflicted look. He eyed Vixenfrost. “With how high tensions have been lately, I hate to say that some cats probably don’t want joined patrols. I don’t agree with it, but many of the other Moor-Runners are expressing… discomfort, with Tunneling.” He fretted. Frozen)>> Cobblepaw looked up quickly as his mother approached. While he still had his apprentice name, he was already full grown. Beside her, he was likely even a bit larger than her by now. Even so, he butted his head gently against her side as if he were a kit. “Ah, it’s alright. I’m having a blast learning all these new things. All the things you know, I finally get to know them to… but… hm.” He paused, looking conflicted. “I noticed something weird across the moors. Near Highstones, I think.” He finally admitted. Dew & Willow)>> Violetpaw quickly got into her fighting stance as she offered. “Falconpaw! If you like, I can be the opponent. You can do the leap onto me. If you can catch me of course!” She humored, laughing sweetly before she grew serious again. Slushfur smiled when Cobblepaw shared his excitement of learning, but it soon turned into a frown as he continued. "Something weird near Highstones? That doesn't sound promising. Can you describe it?" she asked, licking his ear in comfort. She trusted that he knew when something was different or wrong. “Hm. It looked like a shadow. Something moving for sure. But the issue is that it was so far away. How did I see it then? It must have been much bigger than a cat.” Cobblepaw admitted with a frown. “But the Clan’s already cross with me. I doubt they’ll believe me. I probably imagined it anyway.” He sighed, though he quickly brightened. “Maybe it was a patrol going to the Moonstone. Who knows!”

"I was just thinking about that myself," he admitted, anxiety washing over him. "What if one comes to camp when patrols are out, when there's hardly anyone left here to defend it?" he wasn't truly asking, it was only fear. His biggest fear was a prey-mauler attacking Tigersong when he wasn't around to protect her. He knew that she didn't really need his protection, but the idea of losing her so horribly when she was all he had left of a family was scary and he wouldn't be able to stand it. “We’ll have to pray that our training kicks in.” Valleyfern mewed somberly. “Run and burrow, or start fighting back. Either way, we need to be unafraid. Starclan is always with us.” He decided. Vixenfrost nodded. He settled in more at his spot, waiting for their relief. He wished he had more time to go hunting today. Though he was fine guarding the camp, he wanted to stretch his legs.

Tigersong leaned back and glanced back around camp, wondering if maybe Swiftstar wasn’t in the den. Not seeing him, she stuck her head back into the den and called out. “Swiftstar?” Her tail flicked. ( Willow)

He'll believe me, and if he doesn't at first, I know Blacktail could convince him." she said. "A threat to Highstones is especially dangerous. Our connection to StarClan is too important to be at risk. So, if it's bigger than a cat... could it have been a Prey Mauler?" she asked, hoping it wasn't true.

((*Yoinks all my cats* Hello everyone, it's good to be back!))
Swiftstar sat inside the leader's den feeling torn. The excitement over Fallowmeadow's kits felt overshadowed by a sense of....anxiety? dread? He let out a low cough as his chest tightened. What if he wasn't around to see them become warriors, or even apprentices? His ears pricked as Tigersong called out to him. "Come in" he called, flicking his tail.
Silverspirit padded into camp, a rabbit hanging from her jaws. She dropped it into the prey heap and padded over to a sunny area and began to give herself a quick wash.
Fireblaze yawned as she stepped out of her nest. It was a late morning for her, but she had spent the night in the Dark Forest and didn't feel rested. She shook the stiffness out of her legs, quickly licking her fur over a new scratch on her shoulder.

She shook the stiffness out of her legs, quickly licking her fur over a new scratch on her shoulder. Tigersong started at the call from inside the den. She was starting to think he just wasn't in there so his voice startled her. She drew in a deep breath and walked inside. She gazed around the den. This was the first time she had been in here, her whole life, which seemed a bit strange but had she ever had a reason to speak with Swiftstar personally? Not that she could ever remember. Tigersong tentatively took a seat in front of the leader, trying to keep her nerves at bay. What if he hated everything that she had discussed with her brother and Valleyfern? Shaking her head, Tigersong dipped her head in greeting to him. "Swiftstar," she said, her tone even. "I was just speaking with Vixenfrost and Valleyfern, and we were discussing different ideas for how to handle the prey-maulers." she explained. "well, how to defend ourselves and hide if we need to, anyways."

If the prey-maulers showed up near Highstones, then they would have had to cross into Windclan at least once? How could we have not noticed it by now?” He did bristle a bit, ears falling. “What if I wad imagining it and nothing shows up?”

Swiftstar watched Tigersong enter the den, and listened to her words carefully. The knot in his chest tightened slightly at the mention of the prey-maulers, but he was careful not to let it show. He paused for a moment before speaking.
"I'm interested to hear what the three of you came up with." He said earnestly. "Though we haven't seen much of them on our territory it can't hurt to be prepared." He nodded in encouragement, gesturing her to continue.

Tigersong shifted, hoping she didn't forget anything they had talked about. She decided to bring up Valleyfern's idea first, seeing as it made the most sense as far as prevention. "Valleyfern thinks it would be a good idea to set paw traps along the ShadowClan border, since we know they are already being seen there. That way, it will make it difficult for them to cross into our territory." Tigersong said, her tail swished nervously behind her. The undivided attention of their leader was making her nervous. She suddenly wished one of the other two had come with her. "And Vixenfrost said we could also make heavy scent trails that are marked frequently throughout the day, every day, that lead away from camp. So the trails that lead to camp aren't as tempting to follow."

Swiftstar nodded as the she-cat spoke, listening to her carefully. "Neither are bad ideas." he said, his whiskers twitching as he thought through each plan. "In addition to the paw traps, and once we have a better idea of where the prey-maulers are coming from, it may make sense to strategically destabilize some tunnels near the ShadowClan border. If a prey-mauler, or a pack of them, runs over one of the destabilized tunnels they could create an intentional cave-in." His gaze had wandered upwards as he spoke, thinking through his plan, but now they rested back on Tigersong. "I don't have as much experience in the tunnels as you do Tigersong, do you think that would be possible?"

His gaze had wandered upwards as he spoke, thinking through his plan, but now they rested back on Tigersong. "I don't have as much experience in the tunnels as you do Tigersong, do you think that would be possible?" Tigersong perked her ears up at the leader's suggestions. Of course that would work. Some of the tunnels were quite delicate in the first place, making them weaker on the surface wouldn't take much. She nodded. "I think that would work. There are certain tunnels that are already weak." she agreed, then shifted again, nervous about her next words. This was something she had only discussed with Vixenfrost at this point, but she wanted to say it anyways. "I think it would be beneficial if we had mixed patrols as well." she said, nervous at his reaction. "I also have been scouting certain tunnels that could fit more cats in them at once for a possible escape, the prey-maulers wouldn't fit. I'm sure other tunnelers have thought of this as well. They are an advantage to have, not just for us who prefer closed spaces," she explained. "And having mixed patrols would help in many ways. To plan escape routes - start off on the moors and end in the tunnels. Of course, no one has to go into a tunnel if they don't want to while we aren't in danger. It's just for planning." she took a deep breath before she went on. "I think it would also help to have tunnelers and moor-runners patrol together just in case a patrol is attacked while out. A moor-runner would know better ways to evade aboveground than a tunneler - and a tunneler would be able to guide moor-runners through tunnels if that is the safest way to go. Imagine a patrol of moor-runners having to escape through a tunnel by themselves. They'd get lost, or stuck, or worse. Or a tunneler trying to evade above ground, not knowing where there are paw traps already set for prey, holes, hiding places. The tunneler might very well lead the prey-mauler to camp because it is all they know - or worse, get turned around and end up a meal to the mauler." Tigersong stopped finally, feeling like she had already spoken for too long. Her whiskers twitched as she wanted to keep going and explain her idea further, but that would just be too much. She was trying to compensate so that Swiftstar would take her seriously. In reality, she knew how unlikely it would be to have mixed patrols - not only that, but the possible conflicts that could come from it. But she couldn't shake the feeling that it was important.

Swiftstar's whiskers twitched in amusement. Her suggestion was good, great even. There were certainly benefits to the moor runners becoming more familiar with tunnels in the event of an emergency, and while most tunnelers had a working knowledge of their territory above ground that might not hold up in the bind panic and adrenaline rush of potentially being chased by a prey-mauler. Despite this, he knew that even if he did agree with the she-cat's plan, there would be no easy way to sell it to the rest of their clanmates.
"You've thought this through," he remarked, looking for the best response. "I appreciate the concern for your aboveground clanmates, though, as I'm sure you know, not everyone in the clan would be as sympathetic. You mentioned that no one would be forced to go above or below ground, but I wonder how many would be willing to trade roles - even for one patrol - if not mandated."
He let out a small sigh, thinking back to the days of his predecessor, Scarstar. Things had felt so different then. The clan had felt united - or maybe it had just seemed that way because he had been so young. He thought back over his own leadership and the splinters that had since grown into cracks, and maybe would soon grow into chasms.
"You may be too young to remember this Tigersong, but there was once a time where I required all moor runners to train with tunnelers - only for a couple of moons - to learn the basics of eachother's craft. I had hoped that it would help our clan gain an appreciation for all of our members but...." he cleared his throat as a cough threatened to overtake him "...but I'm not sure that lesson has stuck. If I were to mix up patrols, would you and your friends be willing to set an example to the clan?"

If I were to mix up patrols, would you and your friends be willing to set an example to the clan?" Tigersong felt a twitch of annoyance when she saw her leader's brief amusement, but she bit it back. She was eager, that must have been something he wasn't prepared for when she walked in. It was hard to contain it, though, when she felt so strongly about this. She had always hated the divide between the two types of warriors, it was the topic of many conversations with her brother seeing as they represented both sides. The scathing looks and double-sided comments made her skin crawl and her fur bristle. If she didn't care so much, she'd have started clawing ears off ages ago. She leaned forward slightly as he began to speak, though disappointment started to creep in at his words. He didn't think it would work. His question landed on her shoulders and she twitched her tail with frustration. It wasn't a matter of if she could set the example - which she definitely would, and gladly - but there was something else important. "I only remember the fuss that was made," she commented, trying to keep her tone level. "I would be glad to set the example, and I know Vixenfrost would be behind me every step. Valleyfern seemed open to the idea, I told him we could organize one of the first patrols." she said and then hesitated, unsure if this was something she should be doing. It was not in her character to hold anything back, but this was the leader of her clan. If he didn't like what she said, she could be forced back to apprentice duties for a moon as punishment. With a flick of her ear, she decided it was worth it. "the better question is you, Swiftstar. Would you be willing to uphold it, even if there was pushback?" she asked. She had tried to phrase it in the most respectful way possible, and she hoped that was clear.

Swiftstar's ear twitched at her harsh reply, but his face remained unchanged. He took a long pause, looking the she-cat up and down. She's got guts, I'll give her that.He thought to himself.
"I appreciate your concern Tigersong, and I know that you're speaking out of a concern not for yourself, but for your clanmates and your clan as a whole. Your heart is in the right place. That being said, you must understand that there is more at play here than one tunneler's opinion. Those with pushback have a right to express that opinion, and as their leader I have the responsibility of hearing them out. There are things about the tunnels that I, as a moor-runner, will never understand. It's part of the reason I chose Sagefoot to be my deputy. Her experience underground balances out my own." He paused for a long moment before continuing.
"If I do decide to mix patrols, and that is not a decision I am willing to commit to without speaking to my deputy, then you have my word I will uphold it. The divide between moor runners and tunnelers hurts us all, especially in times of crisis, but a moor-runner forcing tunnelers out onto the surface will do little to quell their feelings of resentment. This cannot be a decision I make alone."

Fallowmeadow herded her kits out of the den, shooing them off gently to go play as she settled near the entrance of the nursery.
Milkkit giggled as she hurtled through a few scattered leaves, shrieking with delight as they crunched beneath her paws.
Goldheart awoke not far from Fireblaze, not making eye contact with his sister as they made their way from their nests, similar wounds also adorning his pelt. He fluffed out his golden fur, hoping it would hide his injuries well enough.
Eclipsesky exited the tunnels with a yawn, shaking the dirt out of his pelt. He was becoming more and more comfortable in the dark cool of the tunnels, finding peace down there despite all the recent trauma related to the tunnels.

Rabbitkit's tail wagged in the air as he crouched down to pounce on Milkkit. Bunching his muscles, he sprang at his sister with his best attempt at a battle cry.
Fireblaze's eyes drifted to Goldheart as she made her way out of the den. She scoffed lightly as she pushed her way into the camp If the Dark Forest was so smart they wouldn't pull both of us at once.she grumped internally. Eventually someone is going to notice.

Violetpaw grinned, finally making her leap as she tried to aim for Falconpaw’s shoulders. Falconpaw dodged out of the way just in time, scrambling out of the way and skidding to a stop to face Violetpaw again. “Gah!” Violetpaw gently hissed with disappointment as she missed, though she was quick to right herself and try again. She gave a small grin, before she darted forwards. This time, she leaped from the side, trying to startle Falconpaw to stay still.

While Swiftstar did appreciate her honesty, he couldn't have warriors showing up and telling him off in his own den.

Her instinct was telling her to snap back defensively, but the same sense she had mustered before stayed with her and she nodded again. “I apologize if I offended you, Swiftstar. I can sometimes get carried away with my feelings, but I will show restraint next time. Whatever you decide, I will follow.” She assured him. With another dip of her head on farewell, she padded away, her paws prickling with annoyance. All she wanted to do now was disappear from camp and go scouting to get her mind off of it, but she knew that would only cause more trouble than good, to go off alone twice in one day. She was lucky Swiftstar hadn’t seemed aware of her outing. So, instead, she found a tucked away spot in camp where she was reasonably covered but still visible and flopped down with a huff. She sneezed as the dirt kicked up around her and filled her nostrils. (woof, even I feel like I’m in trouble lmao)

"You good, Tigersong?" Larkbounce asked, poking his head into her tucked away alcove. He had seen her leave Swiftstar's den, and while he was mildly curious, the expression on her face stopped him from engaging any more. His blue gaze noted the dirt kicked up from her flop, now making her fur slightly less... white. Larkbounce and Tigersong didn't usually cross paths, the she-cat headstrong, outspoken and a tunneler, while Larkbouce was a people-pleaser at heart and a moor-runner.

Swiftstar watched Tigersong leave his den, then scanned the camp for Sagefoot. As much as he longed to spend the time with his mate his duty came first.
Rabbitkit looked at Milkkit and tilted his head. "Milkkit there's leafs everywhere!" to prove his point he swatted at a leaf falling in front of him, batting it to the ground.

Tigersong jumped at the voice, not expecting anyone to approach her. She lifted her gaze to see Larkbounce. She sat up and shook her head to try and get some of the dust out of her fur and shrugged. “I’m okay. I just spoke with Swiftstar and it…could have gone better.” She said, choosing her words carefully.

Larkbounce gave her a small smile. "Do you want some help getting the dust out of your fur?" He asked, taking a step toward the she-cat.

Larkbounce gave her a small smile. "Do you want some help getting the dust out of your fur?" He asked, taking a step toward the she-cat. Tigersong nodded. “Oh, that’d be nice, thank you,” she answered, shifting over to make room for him next to her. “I hate having white fur, it’s so hard to keep clean.” She grumbled, twisting to try and lick at her shoulder.
