Vixenfrost cast Valleyfern another grateful look. He was glad to have the help and Tigersong seemed receptive of his words. He flicked his ear and looked back at his sister. “Promise you won’t go out alone again?” He asked. Tigersong purred at the idea of approaching the deputy with her idea. Her spirit dampened only slightly when she realized she probably wasn’t the only one to have thought of this. For all she knew, another cat had already gone to Sagefoot. She shook her head roughly. This wasn’t about getting credit. This was about taking care of her clan. “You’re pretty wise for a cat with wind in his brains,” she joked to Valleyfern. It was a joke she said to her brother a lot, to tease him about being a moor runner. Of course it was purely a joke. She wasn’t one to discriminate. Moor runners were as important to the clan as Tunnelers. Tigersong knew for a fact she’d have trouble chasing down a rabbit over the open moors. She was quicker underground, where the terrain was less forgiving and cramped. “I’d say that wind just fills my brain up more. Makes me smarter.” Valleyfern humored, his deep voice etched with a sense of joking as he rolled his eyes at Tigersong’s teasing. He glanced at Larkbounce and Vixenfrost as he added. “This also means we need to also have a plan for Moor-Runners if we can’t reach a tunnel.” Tigersong laughed at his response and glanced at the other two, swishing her tail across her paws. She didn’t respond, this was out of her knowledge, but she was interested to hear what they had in mind. Vixenfrost nodded his agreement with Valleyfern. “Agreed. If they were to attack our camp, we can’t predict the direction they’ll come from. We have to plan for all possibilities.” He meowed.

When Daisyglow referred to Larkpaw, she glanced over periodically. Feeling slightly less accomplished at her early rising. Bumblepaw's eyes light up at the idea, "That sounds great." She says to her mentor, nodding.

"You say we can't predict the direction they'll come from, but... maybe there's a way we can." He mused, glancing out across the moors again as he narrowed his eyes in deep thought. "We haven't seen them yet, but we know that Shadowclan has. So, if they're going there first, then there's a great chance we'll see them coming from that border, if we do see them. Might be a wise idea to start setting up paw traps to lead them into if they try and chase us, right?" He offered.

Tigersong perked her ears up and looked between them. “Maybe we could also make some parts of camp harder to get to as well. We can plan escape routes and fortify them so the prey-maulers can’t fit after us. It wouldn’t fix everything, but it could provide a few extra seconds in the event we have to leave quickly.” She shrugged. After saying the idea out loud it sounded ridiculous. They wanted to keep the maulers away completely, to avoid the camp altogether.

Sometimes the senior Moor-Runners use them to guide rabbits into them, to slow them down when they're chasing them on the moors. The Moor-Runners keep tabs on them so we don't fall into them ourselves." Valleyfern explained. "Like a clump of sharp stones, or a circle of thorns." He then grinned at Tigersong. "Not a bad idea with that either. Really, we've got to get these ideas to Sagefoot and Swiftstar as soon as possible. I can't leave post, but maybe you can do it?" He asked the she-cat.

Bumbleclaw proudly, walked into the tunnel. Leading the way for Daisyglow as she nosed her way through the dark. She honestly wasn't 100% sure how to tell she was in the center of the tunnel. Her eyes adjusted to the dark as she kept walking through the tunnel cautiously.

He shuffled his paws, trying to ignore the embarrassment seeping down to his skin. “Yes, good idea. Perhaps we could also create scent trails that lead away from camp. Mark them regularly so they’re stronger than any of the other trails that lead to camp.” He shrugged, hoping this idea redeemed his ignorance about the paw traps. Tigersong lifted her head higher as the other cat praised her idea. She had been certain it was stupid. Then he suggested she go tell their ideas and she squared her shoulders and blinked at Valleyfern blankly. She should bring them to the deputy or leader herself? That felt like a job for a much more important cat. She considered denying it and offering to take his place on watch, but the idea of being praised by the clan leaders was enticing enough to change her mind. “Um, sure Valleyfern,” she said. “Do you know where I could find them?”

(Hello! Posting some starters here!)
Gustrunner seemed distracted as he groomed his fur in camp. His mind was starting to wander to his friend Arcticflower in RiverClan more and more often, especially as tensions between moor runners and tunnelers seemed to be growing. It was nice to talk to a cat that saw no distinction between roles - only who he was as a WindClan cat. I wish we could all see that we're all in the same Clan.
Silverglade and Hickoryfrost were talking about the current state of the tunnels. Silverglade found Hickoryfrost to be an admirable older tunneler, and had many questions for him.
Slushfur was looking for Blacktail or Cobblepaw, wanting to know how they were doing. She felt nothing but pride for her son following in his father's footsteps, and she wanted to ensure he could handle the criticism he faced earlier.

Even though his training session with Cricketpaw and Doebush had been really great, he was still caught up on the odd shadow he swore he saw alllll the way over towards the mountains. It could have been a big bird flying about, but it didn’t seem to be flying. He bit his lip, not sure how to tell anyone that he was suddenly seeing things. He’d sound crazy, and the Clan was already tense with his bold choice to train in both roles.

Relief flooded the moor runner at the praise and he nodded his head, confidence returning to him. He was sure Valleyfern would be disappointed in him after his slip up, but now it seemed he was fine. Vixenfrost touched his nose to Tigersong’s shoulder as she stood up to leave. Tigersong nodded her thanks to Valleyfern and stood to go, flicking her tail over her brother’s ear as a farewell. She started to head into camp and then paused, glancing back at Valleyfern. “It might be a good idea if tunnelers and moor-runners made a mixed patrol, it would be wise to have both skills and intellect from the two groups. Valleyfern, perhaps we can organize a patrol together after I’ve spoken to Sagefoot and Swiftstar.” She said and then padded away without waiting for a response. Tigersong crossed the clearing, making a straight path to Swiftstar’s den. Once she reached it, she paused at the opening and leaned forward, angling her ears forward. “Swiftstar?” She called. Perhaps you two would like to start with a review of the leap and hold against each other and then I can demonstrate something new?" "Um, sure!" Falconpaw mewed, turning to look at Violetpaw. She was slender, which made her quick. Well, they were Windclan, they were all quick. She met Violetpaw's eyes, feeling a little nervous. "Do you want to try it first?"

(Group reply!!)
Hollyleaf)>>
Valleyfern watched Tigersong go after her suggestion. That one, he seemed to respond with a slightly conflicted look. He eyed Vixenfrost. “With how high tensions have been lately, I hate to say that some cats probably don’t want joined patrols. I don’t agree with it, but many of the other Moor-Runners are expressing… discomfort, with Tunneling.” He fretted.
Frozen)>>
Cobblepaw looked up quickly as his mother approached. While he still had his apprentice name, he was already full grown. Beside her, he was likely even a bit larger than her by now. Even so, he butted his head gently against her side as if he were a kit. “Ah, it’s alright. I’m having a blast learning all these new things. All the things you know, I finally get to know them to… but… hm.” He paused, looking conflicted. “I noticed something weird across the moors. Near Highstones, I think.” He finally admitted.
Dew & Willow)>>
Violetpaw quickly got into her fighting stance as she offered. “Falconpaw! If you like, I can be the opponent. You can do the leap onto me. If you can catch me of course!” She humored, laughing sweetly before she grew serious again.

Vixenfrost gazed after his sister for a moment, unsurprised about her suggestion and also slightly injured she wouldn’t want to do a patrol with him. He shook his head and turned back to Valleyfern, nodding in understanding at his concern. “I don’t know if she means that moor runners should be tunnelers or vice versa,” he responded thoughtfully. He only knew this because he and his sister had discussed it at length not long ago when the prey maulers had really become an issue. “We’ve talked before. She thinks it’d be beneficial to have tunnelers and moor runners patrol together for more specific planning - ways to connect what the moor runners can provide as a solution and what a tunneler can. She’d never be okay with putting a clanmate into a situation where they arent comfortable.” He explained. And though he knew what his sister meant and why she said it, he also understood the uneasiness around the suggestion. “She never looks past the benefits. It can be good or bad,” Vixenfrost laughed. “If she’s confident about it, she doesn’t tend to weigh the negative consequences.”

Violetpaw made sure to put some effort into making the hold more difficult, as if they were in a real battle. She ducked the first leap, darting to the side. “She has a dutiful heart. A good one. One that I wish was more common in the Clan, but death and loss have soiled many of our hearts.” Valleyfern sighed, offering Vixenfrost a heavy look. He mewed. “I personally think we should do more mixed patrols as well. Cobblepaw may be the only official joined Tunneler and Moor-Runner Trainee in Windclan’s history, but that doesn’t mean anyone has to train in a role they don’t want to. So, we can use our individual strengths together, while still being separate.” He agreed.

We think it’s good enough that we all fight for WindClan, but it isn’t. We must all fight for and beside each other for the true benefit of the clan.” He said. He stood and arched his back and stretched his sore muscles - sore from sitting bunched up for so long. “If I know Tigersong, she’ll mention it to Swiftstar. I suppose it’ll be decided then.”

She tried two more times to leap onto Violetoaw’s back, unsuccessful, before she got another idea. She was being too obvious about where she was going and where she was, letting Violetpaw know when she was going to go. Instead she tried feigning to the side, instead jumping and landing squarely on the back of Violetpaw. She gripped the other apprentice with her paws.

And how many of his clanmates would die before it happened? He had never seen one himself yet, but from the sound of it - they were vicious and had no problem overpowering a full grown warrior. Perhaps a patrol of five or six cats could take one down - but there were more than one. “How long do you imagine we have until we have to face them?” He wondered out loud.

We've got a border with Shadowclan, but so does Thunderclan and Skyclan. The prey-maulers could prefer trees and slopes to our moorlands. Who knows, but the chance is always high so long as we're right next to Shadowclan." Valleyfern sighed. "I'm just waiting to see one. My heart keeps racing at the thought of seeing one running across the moors, right to us... I don't want to think about how vulnerable it can be out here, with nothing to hide us besides tunnels." He admitted.

"I was just thinking about that myself," he admitted, anxiety washing over him. "What if one comes to camp when patrols are out, when there's hardly anyone left here to defend it?" he wasn't truly asking, it was only fear. His biggest fear was a prey-mauler attacking Tigersong when he wasn't around to protect her. He knew that she didn't really need his protection, but the idea of losing her so horribly when she was all he had left of a family was scary and he wouldn't be able to stand it.

“We’ll have to pray that our training kicks in.” Valleyfern mewed somberly. “Run and burrow, or start fighting back. Either way, we need to be unafraid. Starclan is always with us.” He decided.

Holly)>> “Mm. We shall see then.” Valleyfern agreed, before he gave a light yawn and grunted. “It’s going to be a long day. I can tell. Though I guess no news is better than bad news.” The tom chuckled. Dew)>> Violetpaw tried her best to shake Falconpaw off of her back, though her pawholds were surprisingly strong. Violetpaw huffed a breath of air, grunting out. “Wow! You’re good at this.” She tried next to buck Falconpaw off. Falconpaw was sent tumbling to the ground when a sudden buck from Violetpaw knocked her off balance, landing with an oof! and the wind knocked out of her. "...wow. Nice move." She hadn't been expecting that, instead tensing her hind legs for the drop-and-roll move, ready to leap off. "Do.. you want to try it on me now?" Shaking her fur, Violetpaw breathed out. “Yeah, I’ll give it a shot. Don’t make it easy for me, got it?” She smiled softly, before getting into her stance. She hoped to impress Jasmineheart, starting by lunging towards Falconpaw and bunching into a leap.

(Group reply!!) Hollyleaf)>> Valleyfern watched Tigersong go after her suggestion. Frozen)>> Cobblepaw looked up quickly as his mother approached. Dew & Willow)>> Violetpaw quickly got into her fighting stance as she offered. “Falconpaw! If you like, I can be the opponent. You can do the leap onto me. If you can catch me of course!” She humored, laughing sweetly before she grew serious again. Slushfur smiled when Cobblepaw shared his excitement of learning, but it soon turned into a frown as he continued. "Something weird near Highstones? That doesn't sound promising. Can you describe it?" she asked, licking his ear in comfort. She trusted that he knew when something was different or wrong.
