soot After bidding the officer farewell, Jack made his way back to where he stored that history book and headed over to check out. He spotted a few more books that may give him answers, one on local legends and another on the flora and fauna of the area. Checking out the books took longer than expected, since he had to sign up for a library card and all that, but once done, he hurried off out of the library, not wanting to stay any longer in case yet another were-creature decided to get nosy. He internally scolded himself for that. They were trying to help him, even if they were… overwhelming at times. A dull ache began to spread across his body, the kind that felt like he had been up for days or was sick with the flu. Maybe a cup of coffee was what he needed before he texted Roger to come pick him up. He scanned around, trying to remember where that diner was when he spotted it and limped over.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline tapped swiped away the ad that popped up, again, and once again tried to find that link she'd seen earlier.. it was just there? If she can't find it- oh, wait, never mind her problem finding the link, search history exists for a reason. Navigating towards aforementioned search history, she scrolled just once, and tapped on her oh so longed for page. There we go. This is the literal perfect fabric, just what she'd been looking for, and... she ignores how much the price will be when bought in bulk. The blonde haired woman paused, and shut her phone off with a small click as she looked up, Bernie's diner right in front of her. She headed straight for the door, feet kicking a stray rock out of the way as she did. Pushing the door open, she glanced behind her to check if she needed to hold it.. and indeed she does. Adeline, with the many, many years of manners taught to her my her parents, held the door open with a polite look, heart a tad too fast for such a miniscule interaction, and tried to give a small smile towards the other young adult she's holding the door for. Adeline ignores the tinge of worry at the limp.

Jack, who had his tired eyes fixed to the ground, looked up in surprise to see a young woman hold the door open for him. “Oh, thank you,” he said in an equally polite tone to match the small smile she had on.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson-~ '. Adeline gave a nod, and a quiet 'You're welcome.', and waited for him to get in fully, checked for anyone else coming in, saw it was clear, and let the door shut with a little 'ding!' of the bell above it. She let her shoulders droop a tad, and sent a curious glance over the young man before focusing on where to sit. There.. were not many clear spaces at all. It is the lunch time rush, Adeline thinks with a tinge of a cringe. Yeah, maybe not the best time to come here, but she was hungry, and she has some work to do.. Welp. She'll find a seat somewhere- hopefully.

As soon as he stepped inside, he was disheartened to see the diner was somewhat packed. Jack had hoped that it would have been quiet. There were a few seats opened at the counter, to his relief. He sat himself in the corner of the counter, leaving a few seats open to his left. It was farther away from the rest of the patrons of the restaurant. Just as well too, he could smell a feline and a canine scent somewhere at one of the tables. The young man placed his books on his right so he can block them from sight from anyone who may have found a connection with the titles he had chosen.
Since it was somewhat busy, Jack opened one of his books, the one on Griffindale’s history, since it would attract the least amount of questions about his research and he could come up with a better excuse, as he waited for someone to take his order.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline glanced around, and felt a tad awkward, hands fidgeting as she looked for a seat. No.. tables were free, no surprise there, so she opted to just try to make it the least amount like she was following him, and went to sit down at the counter. She slipped onto the stool, shoes on one of it's bars, one knee going up and down. Adeline glanced up, and gave a small smile to a passing waitress, going by to head for the man she'd opened the door for. Adeline recited her order in her head about twelve times in the wait, glancing over a with a tinge of curiosity when she noticed.. he was reading a book. An older looking once too, and.. from what she can get off of the cover she saw for a split second, it's about the towns history. That's a good choice- local history is always interesting to read. In the wait, Adeline also took her phone back out of her satchel, and sat it on the counter directly in front of her. She just has a few extra things to send in for work.. then she'll be good, and free to order more fabric and accessories to add to the piece she's trying to make. And she promptly tries to ignore the cringe at her soon to be slightly depleted, and thirsty bank account. No body ever said she was perfect with her financial decisions, thankfully.

Jack at some point wasn’t really reading his book anymore, his eyes lazily reading over the same paragraph over and over again before he realized. He also had failed to realize that a waitress was trying to take his order. Embarrassed to no end, he quickly placed his order for a coffee and a muffin before apologizing. Christ he really needed something to perk him up. He felt eyes staring at him and glanced to his right to see that the woman who opened the door for him was also now sitting at the counter.
He was relieved to see that the look in her eyes were one of curiosity and perhaps a bit timid, not scrutinizing and analytical, like that she was trying to figure out if he was one of the shifters or not. He gave her a small smile and a nod, grateful to interact with someone seemingly human for a change.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline fiddles with her phone, glancing up when the waitress comes up to her a few moments later. Adeline gives a small, shy smile, slightly tilted at the corner, and orders a coffee, and a BLT. She glances down to her phone, before back up, and over towards the book, and up to a pair of eyes. Oh, he nodded.. and smiled- Oh. Adeline gives a small, very shy smile, and a nod, head ducking down a moment before glancing back up. Adeline is horrific at small talk, but she thinks.. anyone interested in local history, is someone she could make a bit of conversation with. She fidgets for a moment, knee still going up and down quietly before she dares to speak. "You're.. reading about Grinffindale's history, right?" She asks quietly in her tad of an accented voice, head tilted curiously, trying to be as polite as she could. Why.. does she always put herself into potentially awkward situations? She's eating here, which means they'll both be sitting here until they both finish their coffee. So when the small talk trails off.. it'll be stark silence. Welp, she's.. dealt with worse..(?)

Jack looked from his book to the girl, still with a small smile on his face. “Yeah, I am,” he said, “Just started reading it, actually. I moved here about two weeks ago, so I thought… You know… Why not learn about the town so I can blend in better?”
Normally, Jack was very much an introvert, the type that gets exhausted around large groups of people and need to retreat to recharge. However when it comes to fellow introverts, like the woman clearly was, or was in a situation where he was comfortable enough, he was really good at pretending he’s more out going than he really was. As awkward as he was probably coming across, that is.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline was very relived, and a tad cheery to hear his response, a lot less clipped than she'd expected. Shifting in her seat a tad, facing more towards him with a slightly easier smile on her face now. "I did.. a pretty similar thing- when I first moved here to, actually." She responds, voice a tad quiet still, but slightly less shy. "I- ah, came here nearly six months ago now? I'm still getting used to the smaller town." Adeline adds, her Boston, and New Yorker accent a tad more obvious in some of her words than others. Glancing towards the book, she tilts her head. "Uh..There's a ton of interesting facts and stories from this town." Adeline says, fingers tapping against the counter. And she's not lying either, she read a few articles on line, and a few passing pages at the library (she's planning on reading more, she just go busy with work), and Adeline is pretty sure this is one of those places with so-called 'supernatural' history attached to it.

Jack felt a cold wave of dread wash over him, though thankful for once today, he was able to mask it this time. “Oh yeah? Anything interesting?” he asked encouragingly. Perhaps it was something completely unrelated to his research that she knew of, or she had an outsider perspective on the whole thing. Either way, he was willing to hear her out.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline's smile widened just a tad, but she shifted more towards excited, and curious. "Tons of interesting things. Apparently this is one of those places that has a lot of that.." The blonde pauses, finger going in a circular motion. "Ah.. 'supernatural' historical stuff, I guess you could say?" She says, thinking back a moment. There's plenty of places that believed in vampires, or witches, but this place was more of like- the werewolf believing place? "They- well, there's tons of old drawings at the library in this one book. It's a journal, reprinted- It's got these drawings of bidpedal... wolf-human looking things. Sorta- have you ever seen Harry Potter? Remus- the werewolf guy? They sorta look like that." Adeline explains, glancing over when the waitress sets a cup of coffee in front of both of them. Adeline gives a smile, and a quiet 'Thank you-' before the server turns right around to get back to work. Glancing back up, she pauses, hoping she didn't say too much, she'd rather not scare anyone off..

That feeling of cold dread was stronger this time. Okay… Seems like the were-creature thing really is a local legend. Jack took note of her mention of an old journal reprint, it may come in handy. Though, the drawings of werewolves might freak him out a bit… He could only pray that if he turned he wasn’t some feral bipedal monstrosity.
Jack cleared his throat before speaking so he sounded calmer, “So that explains all of the wolf souvenirs I saw when I first came here. This seems like the type of places to lean into folklore,” he laughed into his cup of coffee, hoping it didn’t sound too nervous. His leg must have sensed his anxious energy because it started to ache a tad more. It seemed to enjoy reminding him of his possible fate.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline moved to take a sip of her coffee, nodding in response, and nearly chocked on the bitterness. Oh, she nearly- well, she did forget sugar. She sets the mug down, swallowing the bitter liquid before scooping up a few sugar packets from the little condiment stand. Adeline looks back up, making a split second of eye contact she breaks quickly, "Oh, definitely." She replies, tearing the packet open and pouring it in to her coffee. "It's pretty interesting- specifically with the whole full moon stuff. Supposedly, there was this thing locals did during a full moon, hiding in their basements from the 'horrific howling' they heard." She explains, pausing, shoving the empty sugar packet into her bag to throw away later (if she remembers), and pulls her phone out. "I... think I have a.. yeah, the journal looks like this, if you ever wanted to read it." She says, pulling up a picture she took of it. Adeline originally took it to show her mom a photo, but a picture can have many uses she supposes.

Jack took a look at the picture, pulling out his own phone so he could take write down the title of it. Maybe somewhere in that journal there was a cure before it was too late, or at least point him in the right direction. “Thanks, that’s really helpful,” he murmured as he typed out the name of the title. The way she talked about the “rumors” all but confirmed she was human, which was so refreshing given how his day had been going.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline gave a shy smile in return, waiting for him to get the name of the journal before clicking her phone off. "Ah- yeah, of course." She says, voice a tad more quiet as she puts her phone in front of her on the counter. Adeline takes another sip of coffee, foot tapping against her stool. She sits there a tad awkwardly for a moment before turning her phone back on. "So.. you moved here recently- right? Ah, where'd you live before?" Adeline asks, tone with a lilt of awkward, but she's trying to actually.. have a conversation, which is more than she can say for herself usually. So. Yay?

“From Portland, here in Oregon. The city’s too big and well… strange… for my taste, so I moved here where it’s quieter,” Jack explained as he took another sip of his coffee, “I came here looking for work, but that um… got a bit delayed…”

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline perked up at that, head tilting. "It is quieter here- I ah, moved for almost the exact same reason. I'm- well.. I came from New York state, near the big cities." She said, hands wrapped around her mug. She perks up at his next sentence, "Delayed?" She asks, feet crossing over each other. Delayed? There's about twenty reasons someone could have gotten delayed. Plane tickets, money expanses, job offers, random life hiccups. And the lost can go on, and on. One time Adeline got delayed because she dropped her keys down a drain, and couldn't get them out for hours.

“Uh yeah I uh…” Jack stammered a bit, “I was… in the hospital for a few days. Just got out this morning, actually…” His fingers tapped erratically on his cup. The woman next to him didn’t seem like the overly invasive kind of person, but he knew the curious, yet polite question of why was coming, meaning he had to come up with an honest answer with revealing too much. Then again, what was there to expose? He was after all, a victim of an animal attack and he was sure the local news had already reported on it while he was in the hospital. If she didn’t remember right away, she was bound to soon enough.

.' ~- Adeline Nicholson -~ '. Adeline paused at that, glancing for just a moment at the leg she'd seen with a limp earlier. How did..? Looking back up to him, curiosity, and a tinge of worry on her face- then, realization. Everyone in town knew about the animal attacks, especially her, since she, well, works in the hospital. She'd been expecting to end up helping, or seeing the man who'd survived this attack.. But he just got discharged, so she figured his injuries weren't too bad, but that limp? Shaking her thoughts away, she hesitates before speaking, "You.." Adeline pauses, fiddling with her mug. "The animal attack, right? How're you doing?" She asks, brows furrowed a tad. "I- ah, work as a Physical therapy assistant at the hospital.. if you need help- or advice I mean, for your leg?" She offers with a timid shrug. She's just now realizing how much taller he is compared to her. And that she doesn't even know his name. She opened the door with polite manners.. and completely forgot to introduce herself.

Bruno knew what he wanted, but he still opened the menu to browse. He shakes his head at his dad's comment. "Sure, I'll get right on that." He was going to tell the waiter or waitress to make it as greasy as possible. Who comes to a diner to eat healthy? He eyes the dessert menu wondering what kind of milkshake he should get.
Bruno leans back in his seat and takes a moment to take a big whiff of the diecious smells all around him. He was practically drooling at this point.

Delvin walks through the town mostly to think and to see what the townsfolk were up too. He would take walks through the town mostly to get away from his family and to think. Seemed like only a month or two ago, everything was semi peaceful. As a Blackwood, everyone would expect him to fix it somehow.
Delvin lets out a small sigh as he moves his hands into his pockets. Sometimes, he hated being the alpha but if he weren't, his family would have stuck him somewhere else just as important.

Jack took her offer into consideration, he didn’t even know her name and she was offering him help. At this point he was used to it. Everyone wanted to help in some way or another. And besides, at some point he was going to need physical therapy for his leg so he could walk better, even if it’ll most likely never heal properly. ”That’s very kind of you, ma’am. I could definitely use some help,” he said with an awkward laughter in his voice.

She was honestly a tad surprised that he was let out so early. From what she saw on the reports passing by.. it wasn't all that good looking, especially his leg. If he has healthcare, he could probably get a decent amount of sessions per week at the clinic.. or Adeline could just give him some advice and exercises now, no health care hassle involved. Adeline gives a small, shy smile in return of the compliment, and a nod along side that. "Yeah- I- ah, I'd be happy to help." She pauses a moment later, eyes a tad wide, "Oh- uh, nearly forgot. Uhm, I'm Adeline Nicholson, it's nice to meet you." Adeline says, hand hesitantly up in an offer of a handshake.
