Flower quietly followed behind her mentor, aid Wind in collecting anything they'd left along the way before diving back into the water behind her. Although eager to return back to camp, the she-cat did her best to remain calm and stay at Wind's side along the way, knowing well enough the Medicine cat struggled as it was in keeping up with her longer tailed tribesmates. Impatient as the apprentice was, she could only image how Wind felt to be away and slowed when cats needed them.

Dark  sorry for the delay. i wanted to RP once i accepted the cats, but had a lot of stuff irl thrown at me in the past couple days. still kinda dealing with it, but not much i can do until Monday. SO, i offer thee a starter :3]

Whisper shuffled back away from the patrol. She had to admit, she'd been eavesdropping a bit. But if it involved a shark encounter, surely it was important she hear it too? At least the cats looked alright, but only the medicine cat could give them a clean bill of help. Green eyes tracked the small she-cat that served as their healer as she scrambled into the common space. If Dusk was going to return to the reefs to ensure the shark had truly fled, she wanted to be part of the patrol. It seemed like good experience.

Whisper had moved to the entrance to the cave system. The water was still and she couldn't see into it well with the low light. It wasn't as if she were expecting the shark to fling itself up through the hole, but she still couldn't help but worry. Glancing up as her littermate came into view, she purred. "Has Wind said anything about how the patrol is doing?"

"When I first became a warrior, I couldn't wait to have an apprentice of my own. But, if I'm being honest, I'm glad I wasn't there with them. I'm not sure I would've been able to keep them safe.." Whisper sighed. The current generation of kits had only recently left the nursery. With no other expecting queens, it would be a while before there would be another need for mentors. "I liked helping land cats who passed the judgement of the sea, so I thought I'd be okay with having one. Now I'm not so sure."

Whisper purred. "Thanks. And what about you? Think you'll ever take an apprentice?" Of course, it also depended on whether Dusk gave either of them cats to mentor. "It sounds so daunting, doesn't it? I mean, pairing a kit fresh out of the nursery with another who will be responsible for not only protecting them, but also teaching them? I wonder how the leaders do it."

Whisper let out a long sigh as the tension slowly faded. "You're right. And I know he speaks with mentors before assigning them, so it's not like we'd be blindsided." Purring she glanced back at the common area. But it didn't look as if the meeting of senior warriors was done just yet. "I don't think they'll be coming back any time soon. Should we see if any of the cave pools have fish?" Attracted to the bioluminescence of the cave walls, sometimes there was prey lingering away from camp. Obviously they couldn't go out to hunt, but maybe there were some places cats hadn't gotten to earlier? Was worth a try anyways.
