Brightclaw »
Brightclaw was about to call out to Mosslight and tell the other molly that she could stick around, but she was stopped when Troutwhisker spoke up. She swiveled her ears toward the tom, fur going hot when she then turned her gaze upon him. Not even moments ago had she told Mosslight that she would confess to Troutwhisker the next time she saw him... Brightclaw hadn't expected the tom to appear so suddenly after that admission to her fellow scout.
Even still, when Brightclaw said she was going to do something, she was going to do it. The ginger molly swallowed dryly, heart beating in her chest. "I'm...I'm good," she stammered nervously, tail twitching in a somewhat uncomfortable manner. "How are you?" She asked in return, thoughts running through her head as harsh as a storm over the ocean.

"Tired"he said, letting out another yawn"I went on an early morning hunt before the ceremony. Wanted to be sure they had something to eat before all that happened. Good thing too with what happened"

"That was really sweet of you," Brightclaw mewed warmly, eyes wide as she looked at the tom. How many cats would have thought about hunting before an apprentice ceremony to make sure that all the cats would have enough to eat afterward? That was honorable, Brightclaw thought. Her chest swelled with affection toward the hunter, and again, she leaned forward to nuzzle her nose against his cheek. "Do you need to get more rest?" She questioned softly, now worried that the tom would push himself too far and end up too tired for anything else, or worse, end up sick. The last thing Brightclaw wanted was for Troutwhisker to end up in the healers' den.

Brightclaw purred, glad to hear that Troutwhisker was fine. When asked how she was, though, the molly fell silent, her purrs ending. Pale eyes glanced downward, paws shuffling across the ground. Overall she was fine, but... Her thoughts flashed back to what she had spoken with Mosslight about earlier. 'Next time I see him, I'm going to confess'. Her tail twitched, thoughts racing a million miles an hour inside her head.
The ginger scout shuffled, still not able to meet Troutwhisker's gaze. His question had been so innocent, so caring, and yet... She shook her head. Heart thudding so harshly against her chest that she was sure Troutwhisker could hear, she brought her eyes back up to the tom. "Troutwhisker, there's...there's something I...I wanted to bring up, actually..." Brightclaw shivered underneath her thin pelt. She felt so cold yet so hot all at the same time. "It's nothing bad! I don't think," she added nervously, shuffling on her paws once more. "I know the apprentice ceremony is important and we should be celebrating them and telling them good luck and we should probably be on patrols or something or...or we should be training our apprentices or..." Brightclaw shut her jaws, eyes going wide when she realized she had started to ramble. "I'm sorry!" The scout squeaked. Dear Ocean, I sound like a kit! She scolded herself, embarrassed enough to remain silent now, fur ruffling and ears flattening. Hopefully Troutwhisker wouldn't think of her as some fish-brained kit.

Shelldance - Camp - With Skinkstripe, Feathertalon
Shelldance purred at Skinkstripes words. Of course the apprentices would always be kits to her. She warmed at the motherly love that was so obvious with Skinkstripe, thinking fondly back to her own kit days with her brother, Driftingcloud. The kits would certainly be a valuable asset, having been divided into different roles as they were, they seemed to ensure that the clan would continue growing and prospering. She shook her head at the newly resigned queen's words. "Ah, I suppose that's the cost of rearing kits, huh?" He eyes glittered. "I don't envy you in the slightest for that. I think I'd go absolutely mad if someone kept me in a small den with little ones for days on end! I know it has to be a very difficult job, and not one that gets enough credit!" She gave Skinkstripe a friendly bump with her shoulder. "But your hard work seems to have paid off. And whenever you're ready for that first wind-in-your-fur journey outside of camp, let me know! I'd be pleased to accompany you!" Though Shelldance didn't know Skinkstripe all that well, she had the personality of a cat that knew no stranger, and she relished the idea of getting to know her clanmate better.

Brightclaw »
Awkwardness was a fire running through her pelt, causing her to shuffle on her paws. She didn’t want to worry Troutwhisker, the tomcat clearly concerned for Brightclaw. The molly let out a sigh, giving her head a shake before looking at the tabby. There was no sense in hiding her emotions from him now - not that she was very good at masking how she felt to begin with.
The scout nodded. ”A walk sounds nice,” she murmured. ”Maybe to Calm Falls or just down by the beach?” She asked, wondering where Troutwhisker would prefer.
Skinkstripe »
Skinkstripe’s whiskers twitched in amusement at Shelldance’s words. The now former queen had been tense earlier, storming with anger that her kits’ apprentice ceremony had been pushed out of line due to Whiteshark’s little display of arrogance, but all that anger had now dissipated. Perhaps she was still somewhat annoyed, but she had noticed Gingerbreeze go after Whiteshark after the young scout had left camp with Creekpaw. Regardless of what Skinkstripe thought about her sister she knew that Gingerbreeze would give Whiteshark some sharp words. That was solace enough for Skinkstripe. And, admittedly, despite Whiteshark’s rashness, Skinkstripe’s niece would make for a good mentor.
A friendly purr thrummed in the molly’s throat as her companion continued to speak, ending her words with a friendly bump to the shoulder. ”There’s a lot that goes into being a queen,” Skinkstripe agreed. ”A cat needs more patience than even I have, not that I’d be described as a patient cat.” Laughter bounced in her words as she spoke. Skinkstripe had always been a headstrong and sometimes rash feline. Patience had never been her strong suit, and while she had certainly done her best when tearing her two litters, she would be lying if she said she had never lost her patience with her offspring before. ”I’ve been a queen twice, but I still don’t see how Vanillabloom does it, being a permanent queen.” Skinkstripe shook her head as she thought about the white molly. Vanillabloom had always been a compassionate cat, and when she had made her move to become a permanent resident in the nursery it had been no surprise to any cat. The queen had a knack for handling kits that Skinkstripe just did not have.
A flash of excitement sparked in the scout’s gaze at Shelldance’s comment about leaving camp. ”Would you be up for leaving camp now? We have enough cats in camp so it’s not like we have to be cooped up inside.” The prospect of leaving camp sent a thrill down Skinkstripe’s spine. Even if she didn’t know Shelldance all that well, Skinkstripe felt like the mostly white molly would be pleasant company to have around, and any chance to get her paws moving was a chance Skinkstripe did not want to miss.

"Calm falls sounds good"He said as he got up. His tail brushed against her side as he led her out of camp. His own thoughts ate him up inside. Did she know? If she did, did she no longer want to talk to him? He tried to push those feelings down as they arrived"ok, what's wrong?"

For a moment, Shelldance was caught up in her own imagination. Skinkstripe's words about having patience, and comparing herself to Vanillabloom had Shelldance wondering about her own future, and whether she would ever be a queen. She highly doubted it. Though she saw the appeal of some of the toms, she couldn't see herself letting anything go far enough as to have kits. She certainly disliked the thought of having to rear and protect young ones, much less the idea of setting her own ideals and ambitions aside to do so. Her attention was brought back at Skinkstripes offer. "Absolutely!" Shelldance mewed excitedly. Though the drama from the apprenticeship had been slightly amusing to Shelldance, who rarely took such things seriously, she much preferred free-spirited adventure over stuffy clan politics. She didn't waste a moment, hopping up and racing towards the clan entrance. "Would you like to head to the ravine? Perhaps we could catch your namesake in honor of you leaving the nursery!"

Brightclaw »
Silence probably wasn’t the best course of action to take as they headed toward Calm Falls, but Brightclaw had no idea what to say or how to even begin saying it. Just moments before with Mosslight she had felt so confident, so sure in herself that she could spill her feelings out to Troutwhisker, but now with that reality crashing over her like an ocean’s wave the molly wasn’t sure she was sturdy enough to stay on her paws after the crash. She shivered under her pelt despite the warmth of the dry season day. Perhaps she should have figured out what she was going to say before spitting it out to Mosslight that she was going to confess to Troutwhisker… What a fish-brain I am, Brightclaw scolded herself inwardly. She wondered if either of her parents felt this way before they had confessed their feelings to one another, but that thought didn’t last long. Having only known Coppershore and Coralstep as two cats madly in love, Brightclaw couldn’t imagine the two being flustered around one another. Their romance was so smooth and natural that Brightclaw couldn’t imagine it as anything else.
Brightclaw glanced toward Troutwhisker as they walked through the small stretch of forest that seperated the camp from Calm Falls. Would a relationship between her and Troutwhisker be as smooth and natural as her parents’ relationship? Would they have kits that, seasons from now, look to them in the same way Brightclaw looked to Coppershore and Coralstep? These questions and more plagued Brightclaw’s mind, forcing her jaws shut until they had finally reached the falls and Troutwhisker broke the verbal silence.
The scout had assumed that opening up to the tom would have taken a lot of coaxing, but the moment she heard him ask what was wrong the floodgates opened, and Brightclaw babbled on like a lorikeet. ”It’s not bad, like I said earlier, I promise!” She started, looking at Troutwhisker, wide-eyed, heart thudding, fur prickling. ”I was talking to Mosslight earlier and I told her…I told her some stuff and mentioned some things that I was going to tell you the next time I saw you. I didn’t expect to see you so soon, not that I didn’t want to see you!” She quickly added, hoping she didn’t make it sound as if she didn’t want the hunter’s company. ”I love seeing you and spending time with you. You’re my friend, one of my best friends, and…” Brightclaw’s tongue felt tangled inside her mouth as she stared at Troutwhisker. How was she going to say this? How could she say this? Mosslight mentioned Troutwhisker having feelings for Brightclaw in return, but what if he actually didn’t? What if he just saw Brightclaw as a good friend? The molly shuffled on her paws. There was only one way to find out.
A deep breath rattled through her chest. She was sure her heart was going to burst out from her body, but her words were surprisingly steady as she mewed, ”I really like you, Troutwhisker. More as a friend.”
Skinkstripe »
Despite the fact that energy was bustling through her like a crackle of lightning, Skinkstripe took her time catching up to Shelldance. As exciting as it was to get out of camp after being in the nursery for seven or so moons Skinkstripe knew the benefits of reserving her energy for later; Shelldance was a much younger cat that Skinkstripe. She didn’t have the spry energy she once did as a youth.
Even still, amusement shone in her pale eyes as she padded up to Shelldance, nodding toward the other molly. ”The ravine sounds like a good place to me, and I’m sure prey is beyond bountiful there since we’ve only just started hunting there again,” Skinkstripe pointed out with a flick of her tail. The boa problem had been some time ago, back when Skinkstripe’s litter had only been a moon old. Jacarandabloom had bravely lead a patrol to go after the snake, yet even after her valiant victory Coconutfall had been cautious to allow the Clan to venture near Gecko Ravine. It was one of the few decisions of his that Skinkstripe had found herself agreeing with - HibiscusClan cats were trained to handle such problems, but there was no need to mindlessly throw cats into harm if it could be avoided. Sending out small yet thoughtfully organized patrols to the area to scout it out before allowing the Clan free access had been a good idea. Since the area had not been hunted in for some time prey was sure to be flourishing. Skinkstripe wondered if the prey would even remember what a cat looked like.
The fresh air of the jungle rolled over Skinkstripe. Momentarily she closed her eyes and relished in the breeze. ”A tasty skink and the breeze in my fur will make today one of the best,” she mused more to herself than to Shelldance.

"More...more as a friend huh"he murmured, looking hurt for a moment"I uh..I liked you more then a friend Brightclaw, but if you only like me as a friend, then I will not push the issues issue"he said softly, trying to wipe the look off his face, not wanting to upset the molly.

Shelldance pressed onwards, pushing off from the ground in happy bounds. The mountainous rocky ground underpaw swiftly changed into forest ground as they descended into the ravine. Shelldance was itching not only to serve her clan through hunting, which was perhaps one of her favorite activities, but to rechristen the ravine that Coconutfall had kept them away from for all these moons. "I'm sure the tree frogs have missed us." She mewed, hearing them croaking as they drew closer. "Listen, they're calling for us!" Shelldance laughed at her own jest, then began to slow and quieted a bit. They had entered the ravine officially now, and she didn't want to scare any potential prey. She sat and curled her white tail around her paws, looking a bit smug as she gestured with a paw towards the foilage around them. "The newly reinstated scout can go first." She mewed playfully, referencing Skinkstripe. "I'll give you a ten heartbeat headstart, then I'm going. The molly that catches the most... wins!"

Brightclaw »
As soon as Troutwhisker spoke up Brightclaw realized she had messed up.
Eyes wide and fur bristling she violently shook her head. Fear ran cold through her blood. Had she just messed everything up? Her rambling had never done her any good, but she had hoped that this time she would have given her thoughts verbal form without messing it up, yet she had. ”No, no, no,” she breathed, desperate to fix this. Could she even fix this? ”What I meant to say was that I like you more than a friend. More than a friend,” the ginger tabby repeated her words, hoping to the Ocean and back that she could right her wrong. If she could just fix her mistake then perhaps her and Troutwhisker could be mates.
That’s when Troutwhisker’s own confession hit her. Brightclaw stumbled backward on her paws, chest tight, heart racing. She was unsteady as she stood there, a shivering mess underneath her thick pelt. ”You like me too?” Words no more than a whisper she added, ”You see me as more than just a friend too?” Did this mean…did it really mean what she thought it did? But until she had confirmation she simply stood there looking as if she had been caught off guard by an enemy.
Skinkstripe »
Birdsong flitted through the air alongside the ruffle of leaves as a dry wind passed through. Skinkstripe purred happily, giving herself a long, languid stretch as she soaked in the feeling of leaving camp. There had been a few times when she had left the confines of camp to stretch her legs throughout her time in the nursery, leaving her kits with Vanillabloom or her mate to watch, but those times had never felt as freeing as this did right now. The other times had been temporary, an escape that would only last but a few minutes. This time she could stay out as long as she desired and go as far as she pleased. The whole territory was waiting for her, and Skinkstripe had the energy to explore it all.
Ears swiveled excitedly as the familiar croaking of frogs echoed from the trees. Skinkstripe’s tail raised high in the air. ”It sounds like they’re everywhere,” she mewed with a purr to her words. ”I don’t think I’ve ever heard this many.” Not allowing cats to patrol a certain area of the territory seemed to do wonders for the prey population. The dry season usually made it harder to catch land prey, the Clan relying more on seafood in these times, but the Gecko Ravine was teeming with prey just asking to be caught. The scout turned to her companion only to find a smug look plastered on Shelldance’s visage.
Skinkstripe returned the look with one of her own. She puffed her chest forward, eyes narrowing with a challenging glint. ”Oh, I can’t wait to see the look on your face when a scout beats a hunter!” As a scout Skinkstripe didn’t have a proficiency in hunting, but she had been the scout for enough hunting patrols that she knew the basis; scout apprentices had a few hunting lessons, but nothing like what hunters received. Even still, Skinkstripe was confident enough in herself to believe that she could best the younger molly.
A smirk still pulling at her lips, the ruddy feline leaped forward and into the thick foliage, not daring to waste a single second of her head start.

Lilypool's nerves were nearly infectious as the little yellow molly noticed the way her pelt prickled, it almost made the apprentice feel sorry for her. Just then it dawned upon Hyacinthpaw why the healer might want to go out with the two scouts. Not through curiosity of their profession, but to escape the family drama that always seemed to be ensuing. Her ears perked up at Aniselight's challenge, a purr threatening to vibrate her whole body. While Hyacinthpaw wouldn't think to deny Lilypool from joining them, she appreciated the fact that her mentor wouldn't soon forget about her. Her tail lashed from side to side in excitement, her blue eyes shining brightly as she looked between both mollies. "I would like that very much!" She chirped, now focusing solely on the tabico healer. "Get ready to see what a true scout in the making looks like, Lilypool!" There was no way Hyacinthpaw could resist the urge to take up her mentors challenge, she would always be one to rise up to the occasion. With that said, the apprentice was ever eager to get out of camp now more than ever, starting to leap and bound towards the camp entrance. "Cmon!" ————- ❀ -———— Gingerbreeze with Whiteshark, then Coconutfall camp @ Feathertalon A wave of relief washed over the ginger molly when she felt her daughter step into her touch. Gingerbreeze melted that much more and swept Whiteshark in closer, letting her head fall to nuzzle her nose into the white furred shoulder of the scout. The young molly that she remembered to be so small and frail as a kit had grown into a capable and muscular feline, her frame larger than Gingerbreeze's slim hunters figure. She relaxed more at Whiteshark's altered promise, content that the brash molly would at least think through her actions a little more. Warm, green eyes settled on her daughter when she stepped back, and the ruddy hunter offered a loving smile. "You will be a fine mentor, little guppy. At the least your cousin may learn from your mistakes." Gingerbreeze teased back, taking a moment to admire her daughter. She leaned in one last time to run her tongue across her cheek. "Who allowed you to become so grown." She spoke softly with a sigh following her words. It was then that she finally let the young scout go, watching her join young Creekpaw once again.
Gingerbreeze lingered in the same spot, letting the moment, her emotions, and thoughts settle for a few passing seconds. With her heart still heavy, but mind mostly cleared, the molly glanced around the clearing. She thought to join Vanillabloom once again like she promised, but she yearned for the comfort of her mate. It didn't take long for her to spot the tabby tom still sitting below where he'd just been perched as the rest of the clan finished dispersing. A smile pulled at her lips and she moved towards him, greeting her mate by bumping the top of her head below his chin while rubbing her side along his chest. She ended with tapping her tail-tip to his nose as she settled on his other side, looking up at the tom with admiration on her emerald gaze.
"You did great up there, my love, and you looked so handsome too." Gingerbreeze gave a short giggle, always taking the chance to try and fluster the poor oracle. Leaning against his shoulder, she watched as Skinkstripe left with Shelldance, and Tigerpaw conversed with Ripplemist. A clear look of interest sparked in the molly's gaze as she lingered on the two, wondering if she should ask her son about it later. If she remembered later then she might. "Should we retire to your den? Or relax by the falls?"

Though Skinkstripe would hardly know if she cheated, Shelldance waited the full ten heartbeats, feeling very unconcerned about the headstart she was giving Skinkstripe. She was younger, and hunter by role and nature, and felt confident that she would win easily. However, Shelldance cared less about the competition, and more about the fun. Once she had counted to ten, she instantly dropped into a hunter's crouch, heading towards a fallen log. The smell of frog was overpowering, taunting her as she had been waiting her ten heartbeats, and she intended on making it her first kill. She came to the log at an angle, repositioning herself until she was downwind from the log. Then her eyes spotted it- bright green and slimy, clinging to the moss that grew over the log and croaking happily, not a care in the world. Her hunting instincts kicking in, Shelldance crept closer rapidly, tailtip twitching in anticipation, before swiftly and deftly dispatching the frog with a single bound. I want to see Skinkstripe try to beat that! She thought. She wondered how the molly was fairing as she buried her kill under the ground next to the log, knowing she would need the landmark to help her find her prey later in the dense undergrowth. Satisfied, she lifted her head and drew air in through her mouth, scenting for her next prey.

Internet is down so I’m using mobile, no fancy posts this timeeee —- BRIGHTCLAW — with Troutwhisker - moonclaw400 Brightclaw’s purr was thunder as it rolled through her body. She pressed deeply into Troutwhisker, allowing his warm, familiar scent to wreathe around her as if it were a second pelt. ”Oh, I’m so glad you feel the same. I was so worried that you wouldn’t and that I’d ruin any chance of having anything with you,” she admitted through all the purring that was rumbling against her body. The scout could stay there forever, pressed against the tom that she could now call her mate as the gentle sounds of the Calm Falls echoed throughout the air. WHITESHARK — with Gingerbreeze - 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 & Creekpaw - moonclaw400 Angering a cat had never been something that Whiteshark was afraid of. If another cat did something she didn’t like then she would call them out on it and speak her mind, regardless of if the other cat in question reacted defensively or not. It was no different when that cat was her own mother, but only after a few harsh words Whiteshark had realized that she could never truly upset her mother. For all the wrongs that Gingerbreeze had done, the red tabby had never faltered in her affection toward her kits. Gingerbreeze had always been a loving, wonderful mother despite it all. How could Whiteshark fault the hunter for that? How could Whiteshark stay mad at the cat that had helped her grow into the cat that she was today? A sigh escaped her, deflating any negative feelings that she may have had toward her mother moments ago. Whiteshark’s two toned eyes shone with happiness, yet a smirk pulling at her lips gave way to a playfully indignant expression. ”I’ll be the best mentor in all of Clan history,” she boasted with a puff of her chest, only to add, ”You helped me the most to become the cat I am now.” And that was true. It had been Gingerbreeze to raise her litter mostly by herself, Coconutfall not being around due to no cat knowing he had fathered another litter. A few times he had come into the nursery under the guise of checking in on Vanillabloom, but now that Whiteshark thought back to it the brown tabby had also made sure to give some of his time to Gingerbreeze and her litter. Whiteshark supposed she could thank the oracle for trying, but she didn’t want him to think she forgave him for everything he had done. Rather than stand there and fall deeper into such thoughts, Whiteshark watched as her mother padded back toward camp. She stood there a moment longer, a purr still rumbling deep in her throat. Whiteshark then turned and made her way back to Creekpaw, tail and head high as she called, ”Creekpaw! You ready to head down to the Ocean?”

COCONUTFALL — with Gingerbreeze - 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 Not many cats remained in camp now that the ceremony was over. Groups had been formed to go hunting or scouting or even herb gathering while the cats that did remain in camp were either hidden near the edges or were busying themselves with cleaning and repairing dens. Reinforcing dens was always a good idea during the dry season - it would keep them strong and durable, ready for whenever the intense storms of the wet season would hit again. Perhaps Coconutfall himself should be doing something. He knew he should be doing something, and as a flash of familiar brown tabby fur came into his view he realized he had already been too late. Tigerpaw was off with Ripplemist, the two headed toward the nursery with a bounce in their steps. Coconutfall had noticed the two enjoying one another’s company before, and he wondered if perhaps something more was going on. At the same time he had also noticed his youngest son spending time with Hyacinthpaw, the two seemingly close as well. The oracle could wonder if something was going on there as well; the thought made him shift uncomfortable on his paws. It was true that there could be nothing romantic going on between his son and either of the two mollies, friendships were just as important and valid as well, but romance was complicated for a future oracle, and Coconutfall could only hope that his misfortunes wouldn’t fall upon his son as well. Perhaps this was something he needed to bring up to Tigerpaw soon. Maybe it was something both he and Gingerbreeze together could talk to their son about. Speaking of Gingerbreeze… The ginger tabby’s familiar sweet scent wrapped around him before he saw her, and the moment he spotted his mate the worries that had plagued him since the ceremony vanished. Coconutfall melted into her touch, a purr so loud thundering through his body. He was still purring as a flame of embarrassment ran through him, pelt prickling at his mate’s words. Even now Gingerbreeze’s affirmations of love and attraction toward him created a sense of fluster inside his chest. ”You tease me,” he murmured gently as he leaned forward to lick his mate’s cheek. ”I’m sure I looked as panicked as a sea turtle hatchling looking for the ocean. That…wasn’t the easiest ceremony I’ve headed.” A sigh escaped him. He didn’t fault Whiteshark for what she had done, but it had been unexpected, and Coconutfall knew his Clan thought of him as weak for giving in to his brash daughter’s demands. ”Let’s leave camp for a bit. I’ve been in my den more than I’ve been out of it,” he told Gingerbreeze, looking at her gently with love in his eyes. SKINKSTRIPE — with Shelldance - bluewonder Once some crocodile-lengths out into the forest from where she had started, Skinkstripe slowed her pace and parted open her jaws. She drew in a deep breath in hopes of scenting anything; the molly was greeted by the aroma of the deep jungle, a mixture of the foliage and prey animals that had traversed the area in the last few days. There were two scent trails in particular that caught Skinkstripe’s attention - that of a crested iguana and then a crake. The scout’s pupils narrowed in thought. The crake would be a smaller catch, easier to bring back to camp and easier to stash somewhere, but birds could be tricky even for experienced hunters, and Skinkstripe was well aware that her hunting skills were lackluster. The iguana would be a larger catch and perhaps easier to hunt as it couldn’t fly away if Skinkstripe did something to alert it. Going for the iguana would be the better choice. With her mind made up, Skinkstripe followed the reptile’s trail. She made sure to stay light on her paws, determined to catch the iguana and all the more eager to beat Shelldance at this competition. It didn’t take the molly long to find the iguana. The white striped green lizard was lounging lazily on a nearby fallen log, seemingly unaware that a predator was not that far away. Skinkstripe unsheathed her claws and lowered herself closer to the ground as she stalked forward. Once she determined that she was close enough to make a pounce, she bunched her muscles and launched herself off the ground. She managed to land atop the iguana’s tail, and after a slight struggle that was sure to echo throughout the nearby area, Skinkstripe bit the creature’s neck and finished it off. Triumphantly she lifted her head with the limp reptile in her jaws. Not the cleanest kill, but a kill nonetheless. She’d find a place to hide it for now and continue her hunt, determined to come out on top.

Troutwhisker nuzzled her gently, keeping his side pressed against her's"This is the happiest day of my life"He whispered to her"Who should we tell first? I'm a bit scared to tell your parents"he said with a nervous laugh
Creekpaw jumped in surprise, fur poofing up a bit"O-oh! Yes Whiteshark! I'm ready!"he said, trying his best to calm down. He was going to be a scout! He had no reason to be scared since he had to be strong!

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw could no longer control her purrs as they thundered through her entire body. She shook with pure joy as she stood there pressed against Troutwhisker, maneuvering her tail so that she could twine it around the tom’s. With the gentle sounds of the waterfall nearby and the soft breeze that brought forth the deep scents of the forest, the scene couldn’t be any more perfect. If this is how Coralstep and Coppershore make each other feel, it’s no wonder that they always want to be with one another, Brightclaw thought giddily, understanding now how her parents felt about one another.
It was as if Troutwhisker had read her mind about her parents. The ginger molly craned her head to look at the smaller feline, amusement glinting in her eyes. ”Why?” She asked with twitching whiskers. ”They’re gonna be so happy, Troutwhisker! Oh, we should tell them soon! And Aniselight too!” Brightclaw wanted to run back to camp and tell her family now, but she kept her paws still, wanting to stay here beside her new mate for as long as she possibly could. Whiteshark »
Whiteshark couldn’t hold back a mrrrow of laughter at seeing her apprentice jump at her return. Her eyes gleamed as she mewed, ”In just a few moons there will be nothing that scares you. Nothing that will be able to sneak up on you.” Creekpaw wasn’t at that stage of his training just yet, and Whiteshark realized that. Her young cousin was fresh out of the nursery, where the scariest thing that could happen in there is waiting one minute too long for a meal. Out here was different. Out here there were crocodiles and snakes and all sorts of creatures that would send a chill down even the toughest of Clan cats’ spines. The territory of HibiscusClan was a far cry from what the nursery was.
With a hardy yet playful nudge, Whiteshark urged Creekpaw onward. It wasn’t a terribly long walk to the beach shore, but Creekpaw had never been down these trails before, and he had never traipsed through the jungle like this before, either. Whiteshark wanted to have enough time to make it and then back to camp before day turned into night.

"Can we visit the ocean first? I would like my mother to know and I can't exactly tell her"he said softly"If you don't want to, that's ok though"he said, purring along with her. He wished he had known his mother and that she could have been with them to celebrate.
Creekpaw stumbled a bit as he followed his cousin closely, trying to stay close. He had trouble climbing over rocks and vines. Eventually his eyes landed on the ocean, excited"its so blue..so pretty.."he murmured

Brightclaw »
Truth be told, Brightclaw hadn't thought about Troutwhisker's family. All that he had was Mosslight, and the molly was well aware of what had just transpired between her brother and fellow scout. Troutwhisker's father had never been in the picture, a kittypet that had mated with a Clan cat to bring forth a new bloodline to keep the Clan fresh. And while his mother had been a Clan cat, she had unfortunately passed away after giving life to her two kits. Perhaps she should have thought about her mate's mother, but she hadn't, and a trickle of guilt spread through her, but she shook it away as she pressed her nose against Troutwhisker's cheek.
With a purr she nodded, smiling softly. "I think that's a great idea," she purred. "Let's go tell Swanflower." Whiteshark »
Every now and then Whiteshark would pause to check on Creekpaw. He was six moons old, a little over half grown, but where Whiteshark had trained for endurance and hard muscle, Creekpaw had never pushed himself and still had kit fluff dappling his pelt here and there. He'd soon grow out of it, especially once he hit another growth spurt, but right now Whiteshark knew she had to go a little easy on him and give him some time. He wasn't a fully trained scout like she was.
Eventually the mountainous jungle undergrowth turned to sand underpaw. The sharp tang of salt was strong as a warm, tropical breeze parted its way through the sparse trees. Sunlight beamed strong on Whiteshark's pelt as she slipped out of the jungle's shade and onto the open beach. She stood at the treeline for a moment, drawing in a sharp breath of air; all she could smell was the Ocean and hear the waves lapping at the shore. She smiled delightfully as she looked over at Creekpaw. "Bigger than you imagined, isn't it?" She asked, knowing how shocked she had been the first time her eyes landed on the large body of water. Even now it still surprised her just how large it was, never ending and stretching on for as far as the eye could see.

Troutwhisker was happy the molly wanted to tell his mother, nuzzling her again as he walked towards the ocean. He sat down by the water, quiet"I would think she would have liked you, but I only know bits that Vanillabloom would tell me"he murmured
"And we go to it when we pass?"he asked softly"...I think I'd like to go there when I'm all grown up. It's nice, calm"he said, scared to raise his voice and disturb the peace

Brightclaw »
The walk from Calm Falls to the Ocean did not take long. The path was more familiar to Brightclaw than anything else, as it was a trail that her paws followed almost every day. As a HibiscusClan cat through and through she cherished any moment she got to be beside the Ocean and hear its waves against the shore, to smell the tangy salt that was carried in the breeze. It was peaceful to Brightclaw. It was home to her. She couldn't imagine a life without it.
The muscular molly took a seat beside her mate, pressing her ginger fur against his cream pelt. She looked down at the nearby water, watching as it rolled back and forth onto the beach, taking sand with it every time it rolled back, only for it to return the sand when it came back. "I remember her a little bit," Brightclaw mewed softly. "I was only an apprentice when she joined the Ocean, though." Odd that she had known her mate's mother far longer than he ever did. Brightclaw had lived about ten moons or so before Swanflower had passed, knowing her briefly, but still knowing her. Whiteshark »
Whiteshark glanced down at her apprentice, curious to know why he was already asking about joining the Ocean. She shrugged it off, deciding that it was just the morbid inquisitiveness of youth. She'd be lying if she said she had never asked questions that lived in a similar vein to what Creekpaw was asking.
The molly nodded in answer. "We do. All of our ancestors go back to the Ocean when their time is up, and I'm sure you'll be welcomed when it's your time. Though," she purred, giving the little tom a friendly nudge, "you have many, many seasons before that ever happens."

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw's tail twitched as her eyes narrowed in thought. It had been seasons since she had had any interaction with Swanflower, and the memory of the pale coated healer was faint. She didn't remember much of her, something that had never been a problem to the orange tabby until now. She wished she could remember every little detail about the mother of her mate now.
A sigh escaped her as she forlornly shook her head. "Hey, don't be sorry," she murmured, leaning over to nuzzle reassuringly against Troutwhisker. "I don't...remember much about her. She was nice, from what I can remember. She was a good, kind healer, but Vanillabloom would remember more about her. She was a healer before she was a queen, and I know she wouldn't mind you asking about Swanflower." Brightclaw had never seen the white queen upset or annoyed, not even when Coconutfall's secret came out. There was no way she'd be upset at Troutwhisker if he asked about his mother. Whiteshark »
A purr vibrated in the young molly's throat as her apprentice continued on. She curled her tail high over her back, trotting toward the Ocean's edge and allowing the salt water to lap at her paws. "It is a little cold today, isn't it? Sometimes the water is warm though." Whiteshark looked out across the water, watching as wave after wave rolled forward. "Sometimes if it's warm out but the Ocean is cold then there's a storm on the way," she told Creekpaw, wondering if somewhere out there rain was gathering. It was the dry season, so a storm would be unlikely, but rain during the dry season wasn't entirely unheard of.
