Creekpaw flinched at the tension, upset that his ceremony had caused such strife between the two".. I'm sorry"he said softly, looking up at Whiteshark.
Vinepool tried to ignore the arguing between the two cats, knowing better than to get involved. He gave Redwave a sympathetic look before approaching Dovepaw"i will train you to be as good a healer as i can"he said, touching his nose to the young tom's forehead

Warmth ran through Batfall's body hearing Whiteshark yelp, asking to be Creekpaw's mentor. All this to prove a point! This cat... I can't let her embarrass me by doing this. He bit his lip, angered by how Coconutfall proved him right. How can an Oracle do this to their clan by letting some inexperienced scout take on a huge responsibility?
Then he heard Redwave's voice. As much as he disliked the harsh cat, he did have a point. Why did Whiteshark take on an apprentice when she's hardly a scout herself? He watched the dispute quietly, mind racing. He felt guilty pushing knowing he pushed Whiteshark to this point of trying to prove him wrong. Damn this!
He turned to Whiteshark and quietly whispered,"Looks like you got something to prove now." He got up and watched Redwave closely. I want to say something, but I don't think Redwave likes me much from being with Tigerpaw way too much. "Good luck Whiteshark." He blinked, wondering what was happening to the clan with Coconutfall being so willingly to let any cat take any role they'd like, regardless of experience.

————- ❀ -———— Gingerbreeze with Vanillabloom camp @ Feathertalon Gingerbreeze's faith in the Ocean had dwindled over the moons starting with her friendship with Coconutfall. She had seen the way being named neophyte had changed him, had caused him to be so unsure of himself. It wasn't fair. In her eyes only she knew his true desires and wishes, and being oracle was just a duty he was forced to uphold. Still, her belief kept with her up until another molly had been named Coconutfall's mate. Wrecked and completely devastated, Gingerbreeze didn't know who to blame. How could any of them have known the outcome? In the end, all of her resentment would be wasted on the waters that held no remorse for how betrayed she felt. A more logical cat to blame would be the previous oracle, but even Gingerbreeze was smart enough to not let a broken heart be the reason why she should act hostile towards the clan's leader. From then, hurt washed over her like a wave, receding for a time before crashing into her and consuming her entire being. She was drowning. Perhaps it was a punishment from the ancestors because her credence of the Ocean wasn't strong enough, and never would be. Most cats would've grieved and moved on, but the red tabby knew there was no one else for her but Coconutfall. So when they came back to each other, chose each other all over again, how could she deny him?
When their infidelity had been announced and the true father of her kits was revealed, Gingerbreeze expected Vanillabloom to be just as hurt, feel just as betrayed as she had. In this situation there would be no one else for the fluffy queen to blame but the guilt-ridden hunter. Yet, in a surprising turn of events, Coconutfall's ex-mate not only forgave her, but still extended her paw in friendship. Gingerbreeze would've been a fool not to accept. The rest of the clan was free to blame her, to give her dirty looks, and avoid her family, but it didn't matter to the tabby because there was no better feline to have by her side than Vanillabloom.
The longing sigh was not missed and Gingerbreeze turned her head to fully look at her friend beside her, carefully studying her face as those bi-colored eyes searched for someone else in the crowd. A small, knowing smile brightened her own expression and the instinct to tease sat right on the tip of her tongue. Yet, the hunter showed great restraint as she only nodded and gave Vanillabloom a reassuring lick on the cheek. "You will, I just know it." The molly made a mental note to pry for more information later. There was still a whole ceremony they had to get through.
Gingerbreeze watched as her nephew stood so nervously beside her mate, another rush of pride surged through her as she waited to hear who would be mentoring the young apprentice. Before a name could leave Coconutfall's mouth, another familiar voice rang out. The warmth of excitement was quickly replaced with a cold panic as she watched her confident, and impulsive daughter call out that she would be mentoring Creekpaw. Her green eyes darted between Whiteshark and Coconutfall, her red and white fur bristling with a silent and brewing irritation. She had always made sure to celebrate her daughters boldness, but that seemed to backfire when she had snuck out to fight the boa, and again as she disrupted the ceremony and seasons of tradition. While Gingerbreeze didn't care much for tradition herself, she hoped her kits would be respectful of them while their whole family was still being held under scrutiny.
What followed next sent the red ticked molly on edge, tensing beside Vanillabloom in a panic as Redwave stepped forward to voice his distrust in both his father and especially towards his half-sister. Her paws itched to step forward, to defend her own daughter, but she was glued to her spot with a throat dry. Relief washed over her as her sister, Skinkstripe, finally de-escalated the situation. Gingerbreeze leaned on the molly beside her, giving Vanillabloom an apologetic look for a reason she wasn't sure of herself. Then her gaze focused on Whiteshark, her eyes piercing with a face that read, We need to talk. An expression no kit would like to see from their mother. Wadekit stared in disbelief when Whiteshark came forward to announce herself as Creekpaw's mentor. Then everything that happened after was like a blur. He cowered beside his mother as the ceremony was further disrupted by an angry Redwave, confronting Whiteshark and questioning the oracle. He watched as Skinkstripe stood before him and Dovekit, and declared her acceptance of his brothers mentor then encouraged that the ceremony continue. Still feeling confused and uncomfortable, Wadekit pressed into his mother's fur and gave Dovekit a sheepish look as the red ticked tom stepped forward to receive his apprentice name and mentor. He was eased by the fact that no one else stepped forward to declare themselves as mentor.
When his own name was called, Wadekit looked up once more at Skinkstripe and took a hesitant pawstep forward, peeling himself away from her side and instead sat beside Coconutfall. His blue eyes scanned the sea of pelts, heart racing and thudding against his chest. He nervously shifted his paws, kneading into the ground before he lifted his head and locked eyes with the oracle. A small smile started to appear as he felt that nervous excitement once again. Even if their moment in front of the clan had been disrupted, nothing could take away his enthusiasm. Sitting up a bit taller and puffing his chest out, Wadekit tried to look bigger than he was as he waited with bated breath. "I'm ready."

Whiteshark »
Anger continued to boil deep inside of Whiteshark, the molly unable to stifle the annoyance that ruffled her pelt. What did Redwave think he was doing, arguing to her about Creekpaw being her apprentice? She had been right to demand as such - she was one of the best scouts the Clan had ever seen, and as such she needed to train as many apprentices as she could so that her skill and prowess could be passed down to future generations. Why did her youth matter? Why, that should only help her in her argument! She was young, meaning she had an incredible amount of energy and life to give, she had the passion and the drive to create something amazing out of Creekpaw. Redwave was merely throwing a fit because he had yet to receive an apprentice and that he had never thought of telling Coconutfall that he needed to train a ‘paw.
The molly snorted in contempt with one last darting glance at the red tom she disdainfully shared blood with. Not only did she have something to prove to Batfall but she now had to prove herself a worthy mentor to Redwave as well. No matter, she’d show the entire Clan just how incredible of a teacher she could be.
Her first duty as a new mentor was now to give her attention to Creekpaw. Looking at the young tom it was clear to Whiteshark that the altercation had startled him, and rightfully so, as he had intentionally been placed into the middle. Whiteshark leaned down to nuzzle her cousin, a molten rush of protectiveness washing over her. ”Don’t apologize. None of this is your fault,” she told him levelly.
Batfall’s voice then caught her attention. She turned to the other tom, stepping away from Creekpaw while gesturing for the apprentice to take a seat beside her and allow the ceremony to finish. A chuff of amusement slipped from the molly, accompanied by a smirk at the corners of her lips. ”And I’ll prove to you and the rest of the Clan that I’m the best mentor.” Her chest puffed out as the anger morphed into pride. She had her apprentice now. That was something no cat could dispute. Ambition was strong in Whiteshark, driving her to succeed and to succeed exceptionally. ”I don’t need luck,” she mused. ”I’ve got skill.” As she boasted to her fellow scout a scorching itch overcame her, a hot sun barreling into her from the near distance. Whiteshark sat up straighter, alert, ears swiveling back and forth, expecting a voice. Eyes darted this way and that, and it wasn’t until she turned her head that she made contact with the source of the heat.
The green eyes of her mother boring into her instantly caused the brazen molly to shrink inside her own fur. Not much could shake Whiteshark, but falling prey to the sharp gaze of her mother was something that did. The scout offered a sheepish green with a bat of her eyes, a silent plea toward Gingerbreeze to diminish whatever punishment would soon be coming her way. There would be no escaping the words of a mother, but Whiteshark could certainly try to lessen the tongue lashing she was sure to receive. Dovepaw »
A tremble remained in little Dovepaw’s legs as he stood in front of Vinepool. Eyes wide, he stared up at the tortoiseshell healer, a mess of emotions. Did Vinepool want to be his mentor? Would he be a good apprentice? What if he couldn’t memorize all the herbs and their uses in an appropriate amount of time? Dovepaw had yet to hear anything negative about Vinepool, and surely he would have heard something from Kiwiheart if his new mentor was a questionable cat. He knew he was fortunate, though, that his mentor had been chosen specifically for him and there would be no debate to the legitimacy of the bond unlike there would be with Creekpaw and Whiteshark.
Vinepool’s voice broke Dovepaw out of his reverie. His rust colored fur ruffled ever so much as he stretched his little body forward in an attempt to meet Vinepool half way as the healer placed his nose against the middle of his ears. ”Th-thank you,” he stammered. ”I’ll do my best to…to be a good apprentice.” Dovepaw would do his absolute best. He wanted to make not only Vinepool proud, but Kiwiheart and Skinkstripe as well. He swore to the Ocean itself that he would give his training all he got.

Vanillabloom »
with gingerbreeze - 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢
This wasn’t the first time Vanillabloom had pondered about her romantic life. She had been chosen as Coconutfall’s mate at an early age, the both of them young and still exploring the world around them. She had been a dutiful healer, excelling in her work when Palmshade had announced to the Clan that her son was to be paired with Vanillabloom. It had been a surprise to the white molly, a shock to the entire Clan as most had believed the leader’s son would have been paired with Gingerbreeze. They had always been sweet on one another, yet the Ocean had different plans and had instead spoken Vanillabloom’s name into Palmshade’s ear all those seasons ago.
Romance had always been a part of Vanillabloom’s dreams. There had always been a yearn for a family of her own, a longing for kits that she could raise alongside a cat that loved her as much as she loved them. The dream of living the perfect fairytale had carried her paws day after day, and when she had been chosen as Coconutfall’s mate, a part of that dream had been achieved. It had been awkward at first, for while the two had been acquaintances, there had never been any romantic connection. Vanillabloom had even felt guilty knowing that, in a way, she had gotten between Coconutfall and Gingerbreeze. Over time the white molly had gotten over the guilt, and with a little bit more time it felt as if her and Coconutfall had found a spark of love for one another. Vanillabloom had grown to find the brown tom’s awkwardness endearing, and she had offered him support more often than not. He had been kind to her, sweet and gentle, and there were days when it felt like they had come together naturally rather than forced to be together. And when their kits had been born, Vanillabloom couldn’t think of anything more perfect than that. Having those little bundles of kittens nursing at her side had been everything she had ever wanted. Again she longed for that, to experience the overwhelming bliss of looking down at a newborn litter for the first time. To nurture was simply her nature, and Vanillabloom wanted so desperately to mother once more with a cat that she chose herself and they chose her themselves.
Again she thought of Cannadrop. There was something about the tomcat… They shared a similar story, losing a mate, albeit in completely different ways. He was pleasant to converse with, a rather soft spoken tom despite his appearance. Maybe Vanillabloom would bring up her newfound feelings to Gingerbreeze sometime soon. She was sure her red furred friend would help push her into inquiring Cannadrop of how he felt about her.
A smile made its way onto her muzzle. Despite everything they had been through Gingerbreeze was still supportive of Vanillabloom, and for that she was grateful. The queen nuzzled into her friend, purring ever so gently. It was a blissful moment of camaraderie, yet soon broken by a demand that hung heavy in the air.
It started with Whiteshark demanding that she be the mentor of Creekpaw. Vanillabloom watched in tense silence as Coconutfall conceded, giving the young scout the responsibility. This was of no surprise to Vanillabloom as Coconutfall had always been eager to please rather than stand his ground, a flaw that she had known about him for seasons. This outburst was soon met with opposition, Vanillabloom’s own son Redwave interjecting with bitterness in his tone. Vanillabloom glanced toward her kit, willing him to not take it too far - she even found her eyes landing on Jacarandabloom who sat next to Redwave. Her expression was a mixture of empathy and sternness; she understood why her kits would be upset with this, but as their mother she was not going to allow such an outburst during a ceremony. Perhaps she would go over and speak with the two once all of Skinkstripe’s kits had been promoted to ‘paws.
But for now she stayed in her place, shifting on her paws as tension continued to crackle in the air. The ceremony once again continued, even Coconutfall still rattled by it all, but the meeting was to soon be over. Wadekit was the last of Skinkstripe’s litter to be called forth, and once he was named an apprentice and given a mentor, the Clan would disperse and go on about their normal days as per usual.
Coconutfall »
Nerves rattled deep inside Coconutfall still. He was well aware of the narrowed eyes that tore into his pelt as sharp as fangs. He should have rejected Whiteshark’s claim on Creekpaw’s training, but how would he have navigated such a conversation without taking a lashing from his very own daughter in front of the entire Clan? Whiteshark was a stubborn cat. Coconutfall was no fool in that he knew he’d never be able to win an argument against her. It was true he had had another mentor in mind for Creekpaw, but what was said was now done. He supposed he could relax somewhat knowing that Skinkstripe verbally have her support of Whiteshark mentoring her son.
Swallowing down nerves and doing all he could to steady himself, Coconutfall focused his attention onto Wadekit. The blue point tom was the last of Skinkstripe’s litter to be named, and once Coconutfall had finished with him then he could call the ceremony. Perhaps then he could find comfort in Gingerbreeze; he had taken notice of his mate’s presence in the crowd some time ago. Knowing she was there eased him to an extent, but the tabby was self aware enough to know that he wouldn’t be truly calmed until he could stand at his mate’s side.
Praying to the Ocean for no more outbursts, he called forth Wadekit’s ceremony. ”Wadekit, I now name you Wadepaw. You have chosen the path of a hunter. With the spirits of the Ocean watching over us, I name Flickerdawn as your mentor.” A brief pause, a moment to let his words settle. When no interruption immediately broke out, he continued, ”Flickerdawn, I trust you will train young Wadepaw well with your bright outlooks and your energy, both traits beneficial to pass down.” He dipped his head in appreciation toward the calico molly. He had had doubts when he had first thought of pairing Flickerdawn with Wadepaw, as the molly was littermates with Vanillabloom, but as he had thought about it - just as he had done with pairing Sunsetpaw with Abaloneskip - he realized he could not just avoid his former mate’s family. They were all very good cats, and ignoring what they could offer to younger generations would be a terrible move on his part.
With no more to say upon hearing no objections, Coconutfall waved his tail high in the air, sharp and decisive. The meeting now dismissed, he descended from his perch to land on the ground below where the rest of his Clan stood.

Creekpaw nodded a bit, sticking close to his cousin. His eyes flickered over to Batfall, a bit nervous around the older cat"When can we start?"he asked softly"i wanna be a good scout like my mother"
Vinepool nodded to the young apprentice"i know you will, you seem like a bright one"he said with a chuckle"we can begin after the ceremony and go over basics"

W A V E C R E S T Chuckling at Troutwhisker's comment, Wavecrest was about to reply when the calm, cheerful atmosphere of the ceremony was shattered yet again by Coconutfall's personal family drama. It was uncomfortably reminiscent of a previous apprentice ceremony when the Oracle had revealed the litter he'd had in secret and named Tigerpaw his successor. Judging by the murmurs eddying around him, he wasn't the only cat having the same thought.
Wavecrest observed the scene silently through narrowed eyes. Here was yet more proof that Coconutfall's ill-begotten kits were nothing but trouble. That he bent so easily to his daughter's will confirmed Wavecrest's suspicion that the Ocean's wisdom had had little to do with Coconutfall's decision to choose Tigerpaw as his Neophyte. Though quieter than his sister, perhaps Tigerpaw harbored the same ambitious streak.
The ceremony quickly and awkwardly came to a close with Wadepaw, the only hunter apprentice, being assigned to Flickerdawn. A soft, short exhale escaped Wavecrest's maw. His grey-and-white patched fur crawled with frustration. Had he not proven himself time and time again? Had the extra patrols he'd volunteered for amounted to nothing? All his hard work, unnoticed, because he did not shine as brightly as bold, effervescent Flickerdawn? I used to be more like her, he reflected grumpily. Maybe I need to start putting myself out there again. The hunter quietly bid goodbye to Mosslight and Troutwhisker and made his way over to Flickerdawn and her new apprentice to offer his congratulations.
J A C A R A N D A B L O O M Once, Jacarandabloom had been confident and headstrong, sure of her place in the Clan and in her family's hearts, content with the path her paws were on. She knew -- she thought everyone knew -- that one day either she or Redwave (for Lilypool seemed thoroughly uninterested) would become Neophyte and then Oracle. But until that day, she was content with her lot in life, eager to be the best scout in the Clan. And it had all been a lie. Her family, her future, even her identity had been ripped from her. She didn't know who she was or exactly what she wanted anymore, but she knew that this was not fair, and she knew that she was angry. As the scout stepped to her brother's side she found herself staring into the impudent gaze of who, in her mind, was her replacement. She raised her chin in defiance, mottled fur bristling, ready to add her voice to Redwave's or back him up should a scuffle break out.
She needn't have bothered. It was over before she could speak. Disappointed, she retreated, though she kept her pale eyes on Whiteshark while Coconutfall scrambled to recover. She may not have said a word, but the malevolent gaze she aimed at the younger scout made it clear she stood with Redwave on the matter. The red tom joined her moments later. "Well said," she growled. Redwave was more eloquent than her, his speech more refined; she had to admit that alone probably made him the better candidate. "I hate to say it, but maybe this little spectacle was necessary. Maybe those who were unconvinced will now see Coconutfall for what he truly is." Whiteshark didn't know it, but she may have just tipped the scales in favor of Redwave. Or me. Jacarandabloom had felt just as many eyes on her as on Redwave during the confrontation. But she set the thought aside for now, not ready to examine it too closely just yet.
K I W I H E A R T In the moons since earning his warrior name for the role he'd played in discovering the cure for snake mites, Kiwiheart had shot up in height, finally growing into his long legs and wiry brown body. He crossed the clearing in graceful strides, face warm with pride and excitement, wanting to be the first to congratulate the new apprentices. He hesitated as he approached the group. He didn't love the idea of Whiteshark mentoring his little brother, and he especially didn't love how she'd stolen the spotlight from him on his special day, derailing the ceremony to make it all about her and her family drama. He knew he ought to extend his congratulations to Creekpaw, too, but he didn't feel ready to talk to Whiteshark just yet. Instead he shot her a sugary yet vaguely threatening smile before padding up to Sunsetpaw, Dovepaw, and Wadepaw.
"Hey, guys!" Kiwiheart purred, leaning down to bump noses with his younger siblings. "You did great up there. Well done." Very well done, all things considered. If it had been him up there during that little spat he probably would've fallen apart on the spot. The healer still disliked being the center of attention and was sensitive to confrontation. "And you two!" He beamed at Sunsetpaw and Dovepaw. "Looks like we'll be working together pretty soon! You guys excited?"

Sunsetpaw Sunsetpaw looked away from Abaloneskip, her ears flickering in the direction of Kiwiheart's voice.
"Oh," she squeaked, surprised a cat had decided to greet her so early. "Yes, I'm very excited! I've been trying to learn stuff about herbs before the ceremony!" She paused, narrowing her eyes. "But, I don't think a lot of cats took me seriously when I asked about healing..."

Cassia Cassia seemed pleased with the tom's agreement. "I will," she meowed, a rush of excitement coursing through her fur as she thought of swatting a fish or two. It had been an exhausting couple of moons, as Yoko needed a bit more help to walk lately. But she deemed his illness temporary. She'll give him the same bad-tasting leaves her mother used to force feed her when she had an infection as a kit, and it'll subside eventually...
"Well, I better go now. I don't have all day." She walked towards the crack in the wall, turning around one last time to flash Yoko a threatening yet strangely loving glance. "Remember what I said. You shouldn't be leaving the shack," she mewed sternly, vanishing into the outside world.

Ripplemist Ripplemist's ears perked up as she watched the newly-named apprentices beam with excitement, a grin plastered on her face. She'd been smiling more recently, and her demeanor was shifting for the better. She wasn't as quiet as she used to be: and the best part was, she actually felt proud of herself for once. All was going well for her..
..except for one detail. She laughed to herself; it was quite funny how, every time she felt happy, there was something that kept pulling her down. This time, it wasn't something. Rather someone.
She felt horrible, even thinking about it. She'd never felt like this before; pouring her heart out to herself late at night. Yet it felt good in the strangest way imaginable. There was no doubt she'd started to grow close to the tabby.
She rose to her paws, her gaze filled with a tangy, bitter sadness. It was for the better, she told herself, it's for the better not to tell anyone. But it felt wrong. She needed to find a cat to confide in. And right as she stepped forward, she bumped into someone. "I'm really sorry, are you alright? I didn't see you there," she muttered, flustered. "Uh, hello, by the way!"

Batfall
Batfall carefully watched Whiteshark. How did one become so angry, prideful, and become frightened within a short span of time? He didn't understand what would have caused the molly to be frightened, but whatever, it was better for him as he assumed this was the end of their little dispute. He noticed Creekpaw's gaze staring at him and turned to the tom, simply giving him a small frown. Batfall suddenly felt an uneasy presence, as if someone was watching him. How creepy. I suppose this is my cue to go now.
"Mhm Whiteshark, you have me and Redwave's support if you need anything." he let out a small purr before getting up and figure out where that loud-mouthed Redwave went. Although he believed he and Redwave were practically opposites, he had to admit he admired how the cat was able to speak his mind out, even if he knows it'll cause arguments among others. He felt the strong urge to talk to the hunter, even if he didn't know how the outcome would go as the two never spoke before.
The small fuzzy cat soon spotted Redwave with his sister, Jacarandabloom, the she-cat with a sharp tongue. He hesitated for a moment before he forcefully moved his body toward their direction. He caught the molly name-dropping Coconutfall and now the cat was curious. Batfall sat down next to Jacarandabloom as if nothing had happened a few minutes prior. "Jacarandabloom," he dipped his head quickly to show respect and to get on their good side as they were both clearly agitated,"Redwave." The small scout dipped his head again.
"You know, I'm very surprised that most of the clan are fine with Whiteshark getting her own apprentice," he mewed as he watched Coconutfall disappear after calling off the meeting,"I mean we're both the same age and clearly inexperienced. I wonder if Coconutfall is going senile." He let out a small purr. Batfall knew that mentioning Coconutfall was the way to gain Redwave's and hopefully, Jacarandabloom's liking.

Whiteshark »
Slithering out of the worry that her mother had instilled in her with just a single glance, Whiteshark focused her attention back toward Creekpaw. The tom looked so small right now, no doubt still frazzled by everything that had just transpired only some minutes ago. Whiteshark shifted. I'm part of why he's so meek right now, she thought to herself, almost bitterly if she had to add that. As a mentor it was her duty to make sure her apprentice was comfortable with her and his surroundings, yet she had already failed that from the start. I need to do better. If she was going to be the best mentor this entire Clan had ever seen, she needed to rectify the mistake she had already committed. It was time to crack down and get serious with this.
But not before she acknowledged Batfall and his leaving statement. The molly's jaws opened, wanting to say something as the fuzzy tomcat took his leave, yet her tongue tangled in her mouth, words unable to be produced. Had she heard him correctly? Of course she had, there was no doubt about it. Batfall offered his support, which in and of itself was not a negative offer, yet then he had added Redwave into the mixture. Whiteshark narrowed her eyes, unable to disguise the suspicion that glinted deep within. So Batfall was in league with Redwave now. Odd considering she thought her fellow scout was friends with her littermate, Tigerpaw. The molly would have perhaps given his statement a minute or two of more thought, but she was once again reminded that she needed to take her mentoring skills seriously. Perhaps later, once curled up in her nest for the night, she could ponder on Batfall's words a bit more.
Turning back to Creekpaw, she asked, "Have you eaten this morning?" Whiteshark assumed he had, or that Skinkstripe had at least attempted to get her kits to eat before the ceremony, but the scout would not be surprised if her apprentice informed her that he had been too nervous to eat. If she thought he could handle a meal now she would allow him a quick breakfast before taking him out of camp. Today was already a big day for the tom, but he still had a lot in store, after all, the first official day of training for any HibiscusClan apprentice was dedicated to the tradition of the Ocean Wade. It would be Creekpaw's first time seeing the vast ocean for himself, and experiencing that on an empty stomach would lessen the awe.
Dovepaw »
Nerves still jittered underneath the young tom’s pelt. Out of instinct he longed to be near the familiarity of his mother, but he knew he needed to put up a brave front. Skinkstripe would even tell him that and then would budge him back to Vinepool. Dovepaw shuffled his stance, squaring his shoulders in an attempt to make himself look as if he were feeling sturdier in his emotions than he truly was. His pale green eyes slowly panned upward to meet Vinepool’s own eyes. There was only kindness in the dappled tom’s gaze, calming Dovepaw ever so slightly. He was lucky to have gotten such a gentle mentor, he thought to himself, flashing a look to where he had last noticed Sunsetpaw and Abaloneskip. His sister was fortunate in that she had an experienced, well respected healer as her mentor, but Dovepaw had heard it was hard to impress the old white tom. Praise would be rare for Sunsetpaw. And here he was, already being complimented by his new mentor.
His nerves began to calm, the beating of his heart slowing, his breathing going calmer. Dovepaw hadn’t realized that he had stiffened himself in his limbs, yet now they softened and relaxed. The young tom exhaled in a relief he hadn’t even known he had needed. ”I li…like the sound of that,” he murmured, words still tumbling off his tongue ungracefully. He had relaxed, but nerves remained, just now they were more excited under the soft gaze of Vinepool. He was finally going to start his training soon! He was going to be the best apprentice he could be, on that he swore to the Ocean itself.
The surging confidence that was inside him faltered, halting in its swelling as a voice caught him off guard. It took a moment before Dovepaw realized it was only the familiar voice of his older brother, and within seconds did the ruddy tomcat sprout back up, tail waving high into the air in a happy greeting. It was Kiwiheart that had allowed him to make the decision of taking the path of healing. He had always thought highly of his brother, and following in Kiwiheart's pawsteps made Dovepaw feel giddy, like he was doing something good for the Clan. His mother inspired him, yes, but the idea of fighting churned his stomach like the waves in a storm, while the prospect of healing made him feel light on his paws. "Yeah!" The young tom squeaked, a quiver of excitement running through his tiny body. "I want-" But then he paused when he realized just exactly what he had been about to say. He had wanted to tell Kiwiheart that he had hoped his brother would be his mentor, but saying that in front of Vinepool probably would not bode well. Dovepaw was not disappointed with the mentor he had been given, but he would be lying if he said there was not even a dash of disappointment lingering in the depths of every other emotion. Rather, he asked, "Would you be able to help train me and Sunsetpaw?" He nudged his sister lightly, eyes sparkling as he looked up at Kiwiheart.

Redwave »
Jacarandabloom had a point. It ruffled his fur to think that this whole debacle was perhaps necessary, but it satisfied him ever so slightly to realize that Whiteshark's antics would more than likely put the Clan in his and Jacarandabloom's favor. The tom smirked, a chuff escaping his maw in a quiet manner. "They'll see him as a cowardly pushover," he mused, going off on his sister's comment. "Even if that spoiled kit doesn't deserve an apprentice, perhaps she did do us some good." There was no denying that he was still angered by Whiteshark's brazen behavior. Had he or Jacarandabloom acted in the same way then surely they would have been reprimanded rather than rewarded. He shifted on his paws. Jacarandabloom should have been the young tom's mentor if any scout was truly worthy of such an honor. She would have done a fine job, and surely her leading the boa patrol some moons ago had highlighted her abilities.
Redwave was about to say more to his sister, wanting to inquire of her if she thought they should go somewhere more private than the camp, and even ask her if he could find Stormsurf to bring the other tom along, but he was stopped before he could even speak when another voice, one he did not hear often, caught his attention.
Ears pricking in guarded curiosity, Redwave's eyes narrowed as Batfall padded toward the pair. He was carrying himself respectfully, a sign that he was not here to cause any drama, yet Redwave remained guarded. Wasn't this tom one of Tigerpaw's friends? Redwave had seen the two together on occasion, so what had him coming up to both him and Jacarandabloom now? His bobbed tail twitched, a silent signal that gave his suspicions away. What was Batfall playing at? He wondered what his sister was thinking about this. "Coconutfall's mind left him the moment he went against the Ocean," the red tom muttered. There was more he could say - he could feel the words dancing upon his tongue - but he held himself. He glanced toward his dilute-pelted sister. Did she have anything she wanted to say? If so, he was giving her the chance. Tigerpaw »
For as much as Tigerpaw wanted to be excited for the newly named apprentices, his nerves were too shaken to feel the immense rush of joy that one would feel after an apprentice ceremony. Especially when said apprentices were his own kin.
While it seemed to him that none of the attention was on him, the brown tabby still couldn't shake the feeling that his Clanmates were whispering about him, talking about him behind his back. It was a feeling he was getting more and more of lately, especially now that it seemed like Redwave's anger was being heard in the words of more and more of his Clanmates. This change in tone among the Clan had plagued Tigerpaw's thoughts in the last moon or two. It had worried him from the start, but now it clung to him just as close as his own pelt did. He wondered - and this wasn't the first time the thought had crossed his mind - if it would be easier if he just denounced himself as the Clan's neophyte and hand the position over to one of Coconutfall's kits in his first litter. But he had enough forethought to realize that doing that would stir the Clan up into a frenzy just as much as blood in the water would stir up sharks.
He sighed. Why couldn't he just have an easier life? Why couldn't Coconutfall and Gingerbreeze been allowed to be together from the start? Why did Whiteshark have to go and demand an apprentice? It was all just too much, he realized. He just needed a break from camp. His blue gaze turned to look at the camp's exit. Did he dare leave camp without a scout at his side? Most of the time he would ask Whiteshark or Lionfang if they would want to go outside with him, but right now he didn't want to speak with Whiteshark, plus, she would be too busy with Creekpaw right now. And he had yet to see any signs of Lionfang.
Debating on whether or not he would slip out of camp just to get a breather, Tigerpaw was unaware of where he was putting his paws. On accident he bumped into the flank of another feline. With a start, Tigerpaw jumped back, fur fluffing out in shame. "S-sorry!" He gasped out before realizing soon after that it was only Ripplemist. Even still, his ears burned in embarrassment and he looked downward, apologetically. Ripplemist was his friend, sure, but that didn't negate the fact that he had ran into her.

Creekpaw nodded, relaxing somewhat at her tone"Yes, I ate a little with the others"he said, glancing at his littermates. He felt a bit left out, seeing them gathered away without him. A soft sigh fell from his muzzle before looking back up at Whiteshark"...is the ocean as big as I hear it is?"he asked, trying to distract himself and the nervousness that wanted to overtake him.
Vinepool purred softly as he watched over his Apprentice. He wouldn't say it aloud, but the young tom was beyond nervous. Dovepaw was his first apprentice, and he knew he had to do his very best, as this might be his only chance to pass on his own skills. He frowned at hearing Dovepaw's words though, glancing down at his paws when he heard him asking the other healer to help in teaching.

Yoko
Yoko felt his body turn hot as he heard Cassia's last words. It was as if she was able to read his mind and knew about his plan to follow her. Despite her warning, he still decided to follow through with his plan. His leg throbbed simply thinking about following Cassia's paw steps.
He watched Cassia disappear into the woods swiftly and he let out a sigh of relief. Were his intentions so obvious to the tactical she-cat? The white tom's body twitched with anticipation as he waited for the perfect moment to leave the place they called the shelter to watch over the dark calico's moves.
One minute passed. Two minutes passed. Was Cassia far from their nest now? Was it safe to now trail the molly? Yoko blinked, unsure if he should wait longer or simply leave now. What to do..What to do... He dipped his head and lifted himself up, eyeing the wide crack that he saw Cassia leave earlier. "I can't hesitate! " he yowled to himself as he forced himself to move forward. Yoko bit down on his lip to distract himself from his leg tensing up, holding up his weight as he tried moving quickly towards the exit.
Cassia, I know I promised to stay, but after that fight with Basiltail and what happened to me, I don't think I feel safe leaving you out there alone especially with those wild cats still out there. Yoko exited their small nest and was met by the warm sun, oh how he missed the fresh air. His mind snapped back to his mission, to follow and simply watch the molly. Yoko lifted his muzzle in the air to pick up Cassia's scent. It took a while, but he finally picked up on it. It was a sweet and familiar scent that still lingered in the air. The tom figured she was long gone by now and reminded himself not to go too fast or else he'd accidentally reveal himself.
The white cat started following the scent that lead from the field to the woods, hoping he would successfully follow Cassia with the skills he shortly taught him moons ago.

Cassia Cassia trotted towards the leafy, green forest, anxiety growing in the shape of a harsh lump in her chest. She felt as if she was being watched. Her head filled with uneasy thoughts, yet she decided to wade into the woods anyway. She could not survive off of fear.
She thought she had caught the scent of Yoko's warm pelt for a moment; she paused, her gaze scanning the undergworth before she turned around and left. No. He couldn't have left. He was too weak for that. Besides, he'd have listened to her. Definitely.
But before she could continue wading through her anxiety-filled thoughts, she heard the small, soft steps of a rodent; it was most definitely a mouse, and a fine one at that.
She dropped into a hunters' crouch, stalking the mouse while moving paw by paw. with yoko rob lucci's wife

Ripplemist"It's all right," she mewed. She was lying. It was not all right at all. She wished so badly that she had left camp earlier, right after the ceremony, just so she didn't have to speak to Tigerpaw. She did not hate him; quite far from that, yet she still felt bothered by her own feelings.
Despite this, she smiled reassuringly. "I hope you're okay, I didn't mean to bump into you."

Sunchaser's outburst even startled the little black and white healer herself, tail fluffing up before her fur quickly settled. Turning to look at Nutmegblossom to acknowledge her presence, Liittlefoam found her amber eyes meeting green as she watched Sunchaser look between the two. She almost thought to back out of the patrol entirely, let the hunter and scout have some time alone, but she really did need to go herb picking. The stock was looking a little sparse and she didn't feel like asking any other scout to accompany her.
The back and forth between Whiteshark and Redwave immediately cut off any room for her answer, and Littlefoam grew tense from the confrontation. She knew things were brewing behind the scenes with Coconutfall's litter with Vanillabloom, but she thought hoped things would die down. This felt like just the beginning. Afraid to speak up anymore during the ceremony, the anxious molly kept quiet until the clan was dismissed. Finally addressing her clanmates beside her, Littlefoam offered a small smile. "Of course it's okay with me. I was thinking we could go to gecko ravine?" She looked to the other two mollies, hoping they would like her suggestion. Most of the herbs she needed could be found in that lush part of the rainforest.
The silent plea was heard, but Gingerbreeze's scowl did not soften. The only time her green eyes left her daughters was when Wadekit was finally called forward. She watched as the short pointed tom made his way towards Coconutfall and sat up straight while he was given his mentor. Flickerdawn was a good choice, she thought. That meant another one of Vanillabloom's kin would be named mentors of Skinkstripe's litter. Even Gingerbreeze wasn't sure if this was some kind of gesture. She briefly wondered if the white molly beside her missed out on having an apprentice of her own, but she figured raising kits outweighed teaching a 'paw. Just as she was about to get lost in her own thoughts, Coconutfall ended the ceremony and leapt down from hiss perch. Her paws itched to join his side, but there was something she needed to take care of first.
"I'll be back." She whispered in Vanillabloom's ear, not clarifying if she would return right away. Knowing the red tabby, she would most likely seek the queen out back at the nursery. Moving with a purpose, Gingerbreeze approached her daughter, catching the tail end of her conversation with Creekpaw. "I'm sorry, dear, but I must borrow your mentor and my daughter for a moment." She spoke sweetly to her nephew, leaning down to press her nose to his ear. "You did wonderful up there, looked so brave, too. I'm proud of you." After that she would wrap her tail around her Whiteshark and usher her towards the edge of camp.
Once she knew they were out of earshot from anyone else, Gingerbreeze turned to face the young white and tabby molly with an exasperated expression. "I can't believe you pulled a stunt like that out there. What could have possibly prompted you to embarrass our family like that? To disrespect your father in front of the entire clan?" A mix of emotions made up her tone, but anger won over the rest. While she had managed to keep her voice steady, Gingerbreeze had never spoken so sharply to any of her kits before. "Just because you managed to survive that boa does not mean you are invincible and can take what you want, little miss. You would be smart to learn that before you actually get hurt. Before you burn yourself, and this family, with the consequences of your reckless actions." Flickerdawn.
That's who would be his mentor? The young tom couldn't believe his ears. He had hoped she would be the one to train him, but he didn't think it would actually happen. His heart pounded so heavily against his chest that he was sure his body vibrated with every beat, and he smiled so wide that his cheeks immediately began to ache. Wadepaw dipped his head low towards his new mentor, biting his tongue to keep from asking a thousand questions before the ceremony was concluded. Never had the quiet tom looked so excited about anything. Once Coconutfall had finally dismissed the clan, he turned his head towards Flickerdawn and before he could let loose every thought running through his mind, the wet sensation of his older brother's nose touching his startled the new apprentice.
It was a blessing in disguise, really. Something silly certainly would've left his mouth before he had the means to stop it. A sheepish smile is thrown Flickerdawn's way before Wadepaw has turned to face Kiwiheart. He's beaming at the praise from his brother, but thinks it's not very well deserved. All he did was sit up there and do nothing. Maybe there was something he was missing? Maybe other newly named apprentices of the past had done something extremely embarrassing that no one ever let go of. If that's the case then he's glad he didn't show any shameful behavior. That would have been out of character for the young tom anyways.
"Thanks, Kiwiheart!" Wadepaw mewed excitedly, watching as the older brown tom went to face his other two siblings, bringing up their future as healers. Something about that made his hammering heart finally slow and fall in his chest. That's right, the majority of his siblings would be healers, and he the only hunter while Creekpaw the only scout. After spending six moons spending every sunrise to sunset with his littermates, they would now be split up to learn their new duties for the clan. The thought saddened the cinnamon pointed tom, hoping they'll still maintain their closeness. He almost tried to convince Dovepaw to become a hunter with him, but his red tabby brother had more of an affinity for hunting down herbs than he did prey.
Oh well, he had Flickerdawn to look after him now. That realization alone was enough to get his spirits back up. Without much of a goodbye, Wadepaw turned his back on his brothers and sister and looked back up at his calico mentor. "So, what do we do first?" He asked with a sharp flick of his tail, paws once again kneading the ground. Then some movement caught his eye. Peeking over Flickerdawn's shoulder, he noticed Wavecrest headed their way.

Batfall
"You'd think the Ocean and our ancestors would have done something to remove him by now don't ya think?" Batfall knew this was not a joking matter, especially joking around two of the most serious cats he's ever seen. The small cat let out a quiet cough to relieve the obvious tension between the two,"Anyways, I can't believe Coconutfall would just let that happen?! Just speaking a couple words to Whiteshark will let you know how much of a mouse-brain she is! I don't even thinking she has one in the first place." He let out a small growl at the end of his sentence. Had he felt this way towards Whiteshark for a while now and he hadn't realized it until he finally interacted with the molly? Sure, it was true that Whiteshark had gained much attention when she was an apprentice for her impressive battles and skills at a young age, but did she really need to have a difficult personality? He truly didn't remember Whiteshark being this unbearable a few moons back, or was she always like this and he hadn't noticed until he truly spoke to her.
"I will be honest, I don't know if our future is safe if he's still in charge..." the tom spoke in a hushed voice as there were still cats lingering from the apprentice ceremony and he certainly didn't want to grab negative attention when the fire was finally dying down. "If I ever have kits and he's still kicking around, I don't know what I would do knowing he'd appoint one of his kin once more!" Batfall knew it wasn't wise to dramatize his words so deeply, but he had to to get his point across to Redwave. "The Ocean will punish us soon if we keep continue letting Coconutfall straying from our traditions." He looked at the sky, how beautiful it was, but he wondered if it would it soon come crumbling down.

Whiteshark »
Whiteshark nodded approvingly when Creekpaw answered. She had wondered if he had had the right stomach to eat something before his ceremony, and knowing that he had at least a little bit of fresh-kill to keep him going for a little bit put her at ease. They could dive straight into training rather than taking the time to eat a meal before heading out.
She gestured with her tail for the tom to follow as she turned to head out of camp. In a matter of moments did she go from serious to amused, eyes gleaming when she took notice of his question. ”The Ocean is huge,” she told him as her paws took her outside the camp. Whiteshark stood and waited for Creekpaw to slip out of the camp as well. ”Take what you’ve heard and imagine it to be even bigger. The water never ends, and it’s so big that at night it swallows the entire sun! It coughs it back up in the morning.” Whiteshark remembered her days before ever seeing the Ocean. She had always been told stories of how vast the waters were, but what she had imagined had never come close to just how large it truly was. It was practically impossible to guess just how far out the Ocean stretched, an endless expanse of deep water that held all sorts of mysteries. It was no surprise to her that the Ocean was sacred to the cats who called this island home. When she had first taken in the sight of the Ocean she had been speechless, and there weren’t many things that froze Whiteshark into silence. The Ocean was so much bigger than she had ever imagined, and even now the sight of it all left her awestruck.
”That’s where I’m taking you now,” she informed him with a meow over her shoulder. ”An apprentice’s first day is always dedicated to the Ocean Wade.”
Before the two could get any further, a familiar voice ruffled the fur around Whiteshark’s ears. She paused, said ears flattening ever so slightly against her cranium. She had been fish-brained to think that she could successfully leave camp without Gingerbreeze catching up to her. The look her mother had given her earlier had said it all - a scolding as hot as the sun itself was coming for her.
Shame welled up inside the scout’s chest. Her skin flared with heat, the blood rushing in her ears as her heart pounded. Not much scared the molly - she would even say that nothing scared her, and while her mother’s words were level, there was a sharpness in them that Whiteshark had never heard before. It did make her wonder as to why Gingerbreeze was so upset, but she swallowed the question down. What Whiteshark did had been bold, but why should she be scolded for it? Surely the whole Clan realized how important it was for her skills to be passed down. Her tail lashed as a new wave washed over her, a rising storm of indignation from deep within her. Gingerbreeze was important to Whiteshark, a cat that the scout never wanted to cross, but right now she couldn’t stop it as she asked, ”Aren’t you the cat that told me to always follow my dreams? That’s what I’m doing.” It wasn’t fair for her to be getting into trouble for doing what her mother had always taught her to do. And then, somewhat bitterly, she muttered, ”It’s not like our family isn’t already scorned.” If this was some high and mighty discussion about their family’s reputation then Whiteshark already knew what her stance was on the matter - their family was already riddled with stains that could never be cleaned. What Whiteshark was doing paled in comparison. At least the stains she was adding could be washed away.
Tigerpaw »
Stiff shoulders sagged as a breath he had been holding in released itself. Tigerpaw shook himself free of the embarrassment that had washed over him moments before, replacing it with a lopsided smile as he looked at Ripplemist. She was a familiar face to him, and a comforting one at that. Among all the chaos there were only a few cats that the brown tabby would turn to, and he would admit that Ripplemist was on that list. It was true that they had not been able to interact all that much in the last few moons, what with Ripplemist a full hunter now and Tigerpaw’s oracle training taking up more and more of his time. He hoped that meant that he would be given his full name in the near future, after all, every cat he had begun his training with now had their warrior names, and while he could be patient, he was eager to to no longer bear the ‘paw title.
A good natured purr vibrates in the tom’s throat. ”It’s all good, Ripplemist! I wasn’t looking where I was putting my paws either.” The words were followed by a chuff. There was no ill intent toward the molly whatsoever, it was clear by the tabby’s words and demeanor. He was merely glad that the cat he ran into was a friend and not one of the many foes he had. ”It’s exciting to have new apprentices,” Tigerpaw mused, eyes trailing around the various groups that had gathered around the newly named apprentices. He’d have to make time to see the apprentices later and congratulate them. They were kin after all, and even if some of his kin had made his life way harder than he had ever thought, kin was still important to him, and it always would be.

Redwave »
This was...odd. While Redwave was all for more members of his little group, there was something strange about Batfall that the hunter couldn't quite put his paw on. Was it perhaps the fact that Batfall seemed to be rubbing all of this on a little too thick? Perhaps Redwave was just too distrustful, but something about all this... Yet, he wouldn't admit outwardly that a warrior younger than he was causing him such unease. He would allow himself to remain guarded, but the mistrust, the unease, that was welling inside him like a brackish pool would remain to himself. It could be that Batfall's frustrations about the Clan's current leader had always been there, festering as an untended infection would, and Whiteshark had been the instrument in which the abscess was cut open, the pressure coming out strongly. That was very much a possibility, and one that Redwave was inclined to entertain. Whiteshark was a rather large nuisance to the Clan at the moment.
As the fuzzy brown scout continued his little rant, Redwave couldn't help but find himself wondering how Stormsurf would react to this. Would the handsome healer feel just as uneasy about this as Redwave was? How would he respond to Batfall's little tirade of disrespect for the Clan leader and his unruly daughter? The hunter's eyes flickered around camp. Was Stormsurf even nearby? Surely he had been in camp for the ceremonies, yet Redwavde caught not a glimpse of the familiar blue pelt. No matter, he tried telling himself, I have Jacarandabloom here. Her opinion matters just as much.
Thoughts turning toward his littermate, Redwave signaled a silent gesture toward her to show that he was keen to know her opinions on this. Not remaining completely, silent, though, he turned a guarded glance toward Batfall as he inquired, "Are you not a friend of Tigerpaw's?" Perhaps Batfall had separated Coconutfall and Whiteshark from Tigerpaw, but that mattered little to Redwave. The hunter's goal was to dethrone Coconutfall and keep Tigerpaw from succeeding the oracle. If Batfall had any positivity toward Tigerpaw then that could cloud his judgement here. Cats who wanted to be part of Redwave's group needed to wish for a new oracle, a rightful oracle, a cat like Redwave or Jacarandabloom - Lilypool as well, though Redwave doubted his healer sister would want such a position. He wondered what Batfall's thoughts on this would be, so he remained quiet, only asking the one question as he awaited responses from both Batfall and Jacarandabloom.

RipplemistRipplemist nodded. "I know. It was only yesterday when I had become an apprentice," she mewed, her eyes glazing over with nostalgia. She remembered the anxiety she'd felt during her own ceremony. Perhaps speaking to Tigerpaw didn't have to be so frightening.
Shaking off the nostalgic memory, she focused on Tigerpaw, followed by a friendly grin. "So, how have you been holding up? I hope your training's going well." She paused, a dazedl look crossing her blue gaze. "Honestly, I wish I was still an apprentice. This is quite boring, without you," she meowed, seeming deep in thought as she gazed somewhere behind Tigerpaw, but before she could begin to try and see what kind of expression Lemonleap was making, her heart dropped. "I mean, um, I didn't quite mean it like that... that, um, sorry... never mind..."

Batfall
Batfall took a deep breath, trying to calm the churning emotions inside him. He could sense the distrust emanating from Redwave, and he couldn't blame the hunter for feeling that way. After all, Batfall had just met him and was already spouting off about the shortcomings of the Clan's leadership.
But Batfall knew he had to tread carefully. He didn't want to alienate himself from this group before he even had a chance to join them. "Yes, Tigerpaw and I are friends," he answered cautiously. "But my frustrations with the current leadership go beyond just my friendship with him. I believe that Coconutfall is holding the Clan back and that a change in leadership is necessary for us to truly thrive."
He paused, taking another deep breath before continuing. "But I understand that my opinions may not align with you two. I am willing to listen to your thoughts and concerns, and work towards a common goal." He looked towards Jacarandabloom, wondering what her thoughts on the matter were.
Batfall knew that he had to be careful with his words and actions if he wanted to earn the trust of Redwave and Jacarandabloom. He didn't want to come across as too aggressive or disrespectful, but at the same time, he needed to make his stance clear. It was a delicate balance, and Batfall hoped that he could navigate it successfully. (didnt want to tag teal a lot since im sure theyll see we have a little interaction going on rn ^^')

Yoko
Yoko watched from behind a tree, his heart pounding in his chest as Cassia came dangerously close to discovering him. He couldn't help but wonder why he felt so strongly about keeping her safe. Was it just his protective nature as a tomcat, or was it something more?
As he observed Cassia, Yoko felt a growing sense of respect and admiration for her. I wish I can do that as perfectly like Cassia. He let out a smile as he continued thinking about the cat. She was a skilled cat, able to navigate the dangers of the forest with ease. He couldn't help but still feel a sense of protectiveness towards her, wanting to keep her safe from harm, despite being significantly weaker in every area compared to the molly.
But as he watched her, Yoko also felt a strange mix of emotions that he couldn't quite place. He had been with many she-cats in his life, but he had never felt a connection like this before. Was it romantic love? Or was it simply a platonic desire to keep her safe? The tom couldn't quite figure it out, but he knew that he didn't want to lose the chance to find out.
His injured leg began to throb with pain. Not now! Please not now! , he hissed in his mind. He impulsivly bit his lip once more to prevent Cassia from hearing his discomfort, exposing his location, and the fact he was trailing her. He felt weak and tired, but he was still determined to watch over her. However, the infection in his leg was beginning to take its toll on him, and he wondered if he could keep up with her for much longer. (tag: ☾—ivy。˚⊹♪:¨ ·)

Cassia The calico took a step forward: now was the perfect moment to pounce. Wait, what was that, she thought, turning around once more. Meh, probably a bird.
But it was too late, for the mouse had slipped away, having noticing her sudden change of stance. "Dang it," she mewed, exasperated. Suddenly she gritted her teeth, kicking a random twig forward, sending it shooting through the air. Her pelt bristled as she tipped her head down to try and drink in any other prey scents, but to no avail. She'd managed to scare off all of the forest's small critters.
Defeated, she sighed. She'd just have to try and fish.with yoko rob lucci's wife

Yoko Yoko's guilt and worry about being discovered by Cassia continued to build, but he knew he couldn't keep hiding forever. Ashamed knowing he was the reason why she failed to catch the mouse she stalked a few moments ago. The white cat took a deep breath, bracing himself for the awkward conversation that was about to come.
"Um, Cassia?" he called out, trying to keep his voice steady. But as he took a step forward, his injured leg gave out beneath him, causing him to lose his balance and reveal himself. "Ah!" he cried out in surprise, feeling embarrassed and vulnerable.
He tried to regain his composure, but the pain in his leg was too much to bear. "I'm sorry, Cassia," he muttered, his voice tinged with shame. "I hope I didn't startle you." He took a deep breath, trying to push aside his fear and uncertainty. "I've been following you," he admitted, feeling guilty for his actions. "But it's not what you think. I just wanted to make sure you were safe."
He winced as another wave of pain shot through his leg. "I know I shouldn't have hidden like this and stayed back at that two-leg nest, but I just couldn't...," he explained , hoping that Cassia would understand. "I didn't want to be..I just couldn't leave you alone here!"
