Skinkstripe »
Pride was burning brightly inside the red colored molly as she sat tall in the middle of camp. All morning she had worked diligently on grooming out her kits’ fur, making sure they all looked as clean as possible. It had been a hassle, but this wasn’t Skinkstripe’s first apprentice ceremony as a mother of kits awaiting their apprenticeship to begin; she had a few tricks up her pelt, and before any of the kits could complain too much the queen had them all washed up and ready to go. Of course she had warned the litter to remain unruffled just long enough for the ceremony and to greet their mentors under the excited gazes of the Clan. After that there was no way they’d be able to keep clean, especially if any of their new mentors decided to take them out of camp for the first time.
As Coconutfall called for the Clan to gather, Skinkstripe gazed down at her kits with eyes full of proud affection. They were going to make the Clan proud, she just knew it, and she was honored to be the mother of such a fine, strong, and healthy litter. She had felt the same when her first litter had been promoted to apprentice, and as the memories flooded her Skinkstripe looked out toward the gathering crowd, eyes searching for any sign of Kiwiheart. It had only been a few moons since her son’s own naming ceremony, yet his had been to name him as a full healer of HibiscusClan. Skinkstripe purred loudly. Her eldest son was going to be one of the best healers the Clan had ever known. All of her kits were going to be the best warriors for the Clan.
Of course, she had to remind herself, that the current situation of the Clan wasn’t the greatest. Even though she couldn’t be any happier in this moment, she had to admit that she wasn’t fond of who was running the ceremony. Coconutfall was no leader of Skinkstripe’s. Having broken the code and betrayed Vanillabloom had caused the queen to lose all respect she had for the oracle; she only hoped that by the time her litter was promoted to full members of the Clan that a worthy cat would be naming them rather than a coward.
Skinkstripe pushed those thoughts away to the back of her mind. Right now was the time to celebrate. Her kits were entering a new world today, and nothing was going to disrupt their big day. Lilypool »
with - open
Shuffling from the healers’ den signaled the appearance of Lilypool as she heard her father’s voice ring out. Ears perked and eyes bright with curiosity, the young tabico couldn’t help but notice Skinkstripe and her current brood bubbling with excitement. She had heard that an apprentice ceremony was on the horizon, but no cat had told her it would be happening today. Fortunately the healers’ den was no longer packed and busy now that the boa and the mites had been taken care of. In the last few moons Lilypool had been able to take it easy, which had given her a lot of extra time to sit and ponder on things she had once shoved to the side.
Her first thought was that of an apprentice. Would her father be giving her her first apprentice today? Rumor had it that a few of Skinkstripe’s kits would be going down the healer’s path. Green eyes scanned the three, questioning. Which of the three would be following in the pawsteps of their older brother? Kiwiheart was an exceptional healer despite his youth, and Lilypool could only imagine that any sibling of his would be the same. But would she be given the honor of training one of Kiwiheart’s siblings? The idea of being a mentor warmed the small molly’s heart, yet at the same time it filled her with a nervousness she had never felt before. Would she be an okay teacher? Would she be able to pass down her knowledge in a way that an apprentice could understand? What would happen if she messed up?
Myriad thoughts of “what ifs” circulated through her mind, sure to overtake her conscience if not for catching sight of an all too familiar flash of ginger nearby.
Aniselight.
That was something else the tabico molly had been pondering more as of recently. This wasn’t the first time the sight of Aniselight managed to get her heart racing and fur burning. In fact, this was something that had been happening for quite some moons. She had been a newer healer when this had started up, and while there had been a time she had ignored all feelings for the sake of advancing her career, everything with her family had drawn Lilypool back to Aniselight. More often than not she had thought of the ginger scout, daydreaming of how easy it would be to melt into the larger molly’s frame. Lilypool had been seeking Aniselight out for patrols as well, itching to spend more and more time with the ginger scout. Perhaps, she wondered, she could persuade Aniselight into accompanying her outside of camp after the ceremony. It was clear that the scout had plans on training Hyacinthpaw after this, and while Lilypool would love to spend alone time with the scout, she’d take what she could get and accept Hyacinthpaw’s presence as well.
Redwave »
with - open
Amber eyes burned bitterly from the shadows. Redwave cared not to show himself outwardly as the Clan gathered for the apprentice ceremony, so he stayed back, keeping to the darkness that lay across the back of the camp. He was curious enough to know who would become mentors today, but he was angrier yet that it was still Coconutfall who was heading the ceremony. Over the last few moons Redwave had been practicing a new found skill - patience. Thanks to Stormsurf’s help, the red tabby had found himself getting into less and less impulsive decisions. He wasn’t perfect at exercising patience, he wasn’t anywhere as proficient at it as Stormsurf was, but he was getting better at it, and that was something. Even still, he yearned for the day where he could finally challenge Coconutfall. A few times he had spoken out against his father, but in all those instances they had only been minor. One day, though. One day…[ this is all i have in me right now. all my other cats are open if anybody is interested! ]

————- ❀ ————- Hyacinthpaw with Aniselight camp @ Tealraven Hyacinthpaw was finishing up her morning routine when she spotted her mentor's head poking in to the den, ears perked as her name was called. She quickly swiped her tongue over her shoulder, hastily trying to finish grooming her pelt before popping up and exiting the den. A ceremony and training? This had to be her lucky day. "Hello, Aniselight!" The older apprentice greeted the scout cheerfully. Would they be sitting together for the ceremony? She hoped so. Her tail flickered about excitedly while she began to trot after the crowd, keeping to the outskirts of all the cats. Hyacinthpaw would hate to get stuck in the crowd once the announcements were over. ————- ❀ ————- Littlefoam with Sunchaser camp @ Tealraven Litttlefoam's heart nearly leapt out of her chest as the burly mass of her best friend burst into the healer's den, her voice filling up the entire space. A little smile brightened up her expression and she could hardly keep from laughing as Sunchaser bounded over, the small healer no longer flinching or leaning away with the sunny scout ended up getting too close. "A Clan meeting? How exciting!" She said with a soft purr, her amber eyes flicking over to Parrotcall who was not far off. He seemed busy, and her view was immediately obscured as Sunchaser began to circle her. Another laugh is drawn out of the black and white healer as she shook her head. "I'm not sure if Coconutfall would be so generous to offer me another apprentice when Windsong just received his name." Littlefoam spoke as she followed her friend out of the den, wanting to take one more look back just to see if Parrotcall would be following after them, but kept her focus forward and on Sunchaser instead. "Though, I appreciate your enthusiasm." Wadekit sat stiffly beside his mother and siblings, his fur lying flatter then it ever had before. He wasn't sure where to keep his gaze, on the ground? On his mother? On Coconutfall? Blue-gray eyes awkwardly shifted around before they settled on his paws. He had never felt so nervous before, but then again he never had to stand in front of the entire clan before. Wadekit shifted from side-to-side and brushed his pelt against Skinkstripe's while stealing glances towards his brother, Dovekit, trying to gauge how he was doing.
"Mama," his head finally lifted, finding that he didn't have to tilt back so much to look at his mother, "what happens after the ceremony? What do we do?" That had to have been the fifth or sixth time that Wadekit had asked that. He knew the answer, of course, but he just had to be sure. There couldn't be anything worse than messing up in front of all of his clanmates. Even the thought of it had him squirming from discomfort.

Skinkstripe »
Amber-green eyes slid downward as the voice of her son, Wadekit, caught her attention. Ears swiveling in his direction, the ruddy feline placed most of her attention onto the young tom. In this moment she suddenly realized just how big Wadekit and his siblings had gotten. She no longer had to crane her neck all the way down to look at her kits; a low sigh bubbled in the molly’s chest. Had it really been six moons since she had given birth to her last batch of kits? It seemed like only yesterday she had moved into the nursery expecting them, and now here they were, about to receive their apprentice names.
There was a part of her that longed for even more days tucked away with them inside the nursery. Tonight was going to be hard for her, she knew. Skinkstripe was antsy to get back into her scouting routine, but it would be a hard adjustment to not lay in her nest in the nursery, cuddled against the small bodies of her children as they slept through the night.
For the briefest of moments she wondered about the possibility of a third litter in the near future, but she immediately tossed the idea away. She had been cooped up inside the nursery for far too long. Soon she’d get over her maternal longings. And besides, she was getting older. While she’d still be able to bear kits for some seasons yet, she enjoyed the idea of doing her duty as a scout until she retired. If she ever did.
”Yeah, what - what are we supposed to do after?” Dovekit asked nervously, echoing his brother’s question.
On a regular day Skinkstripe would have scolded her sons for asking the same question over and over, but today was different. They were nervous, she could tell by their fidgets and the way their eyes darted to and fro. She’d let it slide this time.
With a purr she leaned downward and nudged both Dovekit and Wadekit. ”You’ll go sit with your new mentors and they’ll tell you what to do once the ceremony is over. All you have to do is listen to them, okay?”

Wadekit had been expecting a scolding after repeating a question he'd already asked. He was a smart kit and it usually took him the first time of something explaining something for him to get it, but he nerves felt like they were going to boil over. It was hard keeping anything in that little brain of his. Hearing Dovekit sound just as nervous as he was feeling was more reassuring that he thought. It was nice to know that someone else could relate to him in that moment. With his gaze turned up towards their mother, he wondered how she felt before her own apprentice ceremony. He knew Skinkstripe to be fierce and brave, she was always pretty scary when they played badger attack, so she probably didn't feel the least bit anxious when she was their age.
A smile began to form on his wary expression and he felt his shoulders sag as he finally relaxed. Wadekit shifted to bury his side into his mother's fur, already missing her warm and milky scent. This was going to be the last time they'd be together like this, starting today Skinkstrip was going back to the scouts and he and his siblings would be staying in the apprentices den. He hadn't spent too much time with them, he hoped the older apprentices were nice.
"Sit with our new mentors and listen to them, got it." He repeated her answer, and again a few more times in his head. Excitement slowly began to bubble up and overpower his dread when he noticed the others gathering around them. With a hushed tone, Wadekit turned toward Dovekit and whispered, "who do you think your mentor is going to be?"

S U N C H A S E R with littlefoam | mentions parrotcall | camp @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 The tall golden molly paused just outside the healers' den, her powerful frame almost blocking the entrance. "Maybe you were such a good mentor he'll give you another one!" she said with a teasing purr. "Or maybe Parrotcall will get an apprentice! You coming?" She threw a glance back over her shoulder at the red-point tom sorting out limp, withered herbs from fresh ones. He waved his tail in her direction, not looking up from his work. "I need to finish up here first. You two go on without me, I'll catch up later."
Sunchaser glanced at Littlefoam and gave a cheerful shrug. "Guess you're stuck with me!" She trotted over to join the others. "Hey, if you're not busy after, we could go herb-picking! Well, you would be picking the herbs, I would just be scouting, of course."
A N I S E L I G H T with hyacinthpaw | camp @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 Intense blue eyes flicked from the crowd to the apprentice and back again. Her whiskers twitched and her mouth turned up ever so slightly at the corner, which was about as much enthusiasm as could be expected from the scout. "Hello." She led Hyacinthpaw through the gathered cats, shortening her strides so the smaller cat could keep up. She found them a spot not far from the front and sat with her tail curled loosely around her paws. "Excited to meet the new apprentices? Or do you already know them?" The four little cats seated in front of Coconutfall looked so young; a few of them still had kitten fluff. The sight warmed Aniselight's heart and brought back memories of when she had stood there just four moons earlier with Hyacinthpaw. She never would have guessed becoming a mentor would be the best thing to happen to her.
J A C A R A N D A B L O O M A pair of pale blue eyes soon joined the amber ones glinting from the shadows. "Hey." Jacarandabloom's meow was gruff as she settled beside her brother to watch the proceedings. They'd been so busy planning his coup these last few moons that she hadn't actually spent any time with him outside of the secret meetings. Often, when he wasn't busy, he seemed stuck to Stormsurf's side, or Stormsurf was stuck to him, which made it hard for her to talk to him one-on-one. Though, to be fair, she and Pearlwave were together nearly as often. Before she could stop herself, Jacarandabloom scanned the crowd for her friend, as she knew Redwave must be scanning for Stormsurf.
Instead of riding the high of her victory with the boa patrol, the tabico scout had been assigned to bedrest while her injuries healed for nearly two moons. That had decidedly sucked most of the enthusiasm out of her. By the time she was back on her paws again, everyone else had moved on, the boa no longer constantly on their minds, and Jacarandabloom once again found herself without a guiding purpose. Until Redwave had let her in on his little secret, that is. Now she could focus all of her restless, furious energy on a single goal: forcing Coconutfall to step down. With luck, that day would be soon.
"Don't worry; we'll make sure this ceremony is Coconutfall's last. The next kits to receive their mentors will be apprenticed under HibiscusClan's rightful ruler." Jacarandabloom deliberately left out the name of that ruler. It could be either of them, after all. It was Redwave's coup, but she had just as much right to be Oracle as him, and the others knew it. So far, she hadn't done or said anything to indicate her interest in leading, but there had been whispers when she'd first joined. But how could I jeopardize Redwave's trust after our own father already betrayed us? Do I even want to be Oracle? Would I be any good? She wasn't sure, but there were times when a secret part of her wondered how many members of the coup would choose to follow her instead.

Batfall's daydreaming was interrupted by Coconutfall's booming voice. "It must be for the Skinkstripe's kits." the tom muttered under his breath quietly. He instantly thought of the day he was apprenticed and how it was such a joyful moment at the time. Looking back at it now, Batfall realized he still didn't feel confident about his scouting abilities, having a neglectful mentor didn't help either. All the cat could remember was younger him being a delinquent towards the older cats, but even then those memories still made up for the bad ones.
Batfall gently shook his head and forced his body towards The Fallen Snake, curious as to who the controversial Oracle would pick for the new apprentices.

————- ❀ ————- Hyacinthpaw with Aniselight camp @ Tealraven That hint of a smile was all Hyacinthpaw needed and could keep her going for days. Any kind of positive reaction from her mentor, which there weren't a lot, was a win in her book. Not to mention that it made her feel like Aniselight actually liked having her around. Hyacinthpaw worked hard not only for her clan, but so that her mentor could be proud to have her as an apprentice. No matter what role anyone else was, she was determined to be the best 'paw' there ever was in HibiscusClan history. So, beat that Tsunamipaw, go trip on a fish.
Coming back to reality just in time to hear Aniselight's question, her dark blue eyes lifted to see the four little bundles of fur sitting so awkwardly. Was she excited to meet them? Hyacinthpaw's whiskers twitched. "I've met them once, but they didn't really stand out to me. They all seem like a quiet bunch." Which is surprising considering they were raised by Skinkstripe. That last part she kept to herself, knowing it was a childish remark. Despite having volunteered to clean the nursery many times, she hardly heard a peep coming from those kits. "I mean I'll take quiet over having to share the den when Kiwiheart and Whiteshark were still in it." It was hard being the youngest and having to nag at older apprentices to keep it down at night. ————- ❀ ————- Littlefoam with Sunchaser camp @ Tealraven For once it was Littlefoam who nearly crashed into Sunchaser when she stopped and blocked the den's entrance, catching herself before she got a face full of golden fur. Another look back over her shoulder at Parrotcall and her expression turned a bit crestfallen when he didn't even turn his head in their direction. She was right, though, he was busy. But that was the thing, he was always busy. She'd noticed that the fellow healer had been acting differently around her these past few moons. He'd stopped flirting with her like he did everyone else, and while he wasn't going out of his way to avoid her, they hardly spent any time together unless their job required it. Had she done something to upset him? Littlefoam eventually chalked it up to Parrotcall trying to prove that he was finally ready for an apprentice, no distractions allowed. She had been silently cheering him on ever since.
"Stuck with you? I could never be stuck with you." She said with a purr of her own and happily followed after Sunchaser, having to quicken her gait to keep up. "I'm not busy, there hasn't been much to do since the boa was killed and nearly everyone has been cured of those awful bugs. I'd love to go herb picking with you!" Littlefoam smiled and sat when they'd found a good spot. "Well, I'd love to pick herbs while you do your scouting thing." There were a few times where the healer had tried to teach her friend about herbs, but the information only went through one ear and out the other. That didn't stop her from quizzing the molly every now and again.

She had been standing there, next to them, for a while now but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. Although this happened rarely to the confident molly, for once she was nervous. The only other time she remembered feeling so out of place was when she and her littermates tried to sneak out of camp which, of course, didn't work.
"Mom? I'm... Do you- do you think I'll get a good mentor? What if I don't? What will I do," she squeaked, her voice not even close to quiet, although it sounded quite distant.

Troutwhisker looked up, hearing Coconutfall's call. He had just returned from a short time out to hunt, or rather, fish. He set the fish into the fresh-kill pile before making his way over.
Mosslight had been standing guard at the camp entrance. When she heard the Leader's call, her ears perked, knowing she should stay on guard unless specifically called.
Creekkit had been asleep, jumping awake at the sound of the call to gather. He slowly made his way over, sticking close to Skinkstripe. He shifted his wait between his paws, getting a bit antsy.

Ripplemist I remember when I was made an apprentice, pondered the black molly. I was so proud of myself, but mom and dad were even prouder.
She stepped forward, sitting herself at a spot that she could easily see the oracle from. About five moons ago she would've said she missed being a kit, but now she couldn't be happier to be a full hunter.
But before she could continue pondering, she perked up at the sound of her name being called. "Hm? What is it?"

Yoko
Yoko was laying on his side right next to the window, welcoming the beams of warm sunshine. He let out a loud purr, letting Cassia, the loner he met nearly 6 moons ago, know he was a happy cat. "Cassia," the lazy cat mewed with a slothful tone,"You should join me and just enjoy this beautiful weather."
He had hoped the dark molly joined him as he also secretly wanted to just gain her warm touch as well, not just the sunlight alone. "Besides, you're always an intense little molly, so perhaps this can help you. It works wonders for me." The loner let out a quiet purr after his sentence to solidify his point and hoped it would persuade Cassia.
The last few moons had driven Yoko into grave conflict. He still didn't fully understand why he was staying with this cat, this molly who didn't even pay attention to his advances or flirty nature. Perhaps it was the thrill of hoping he will eventually gain her affection and feel victorious or that he was finally accepting her as a friend, not just some random molly to woo, well a friend who he is trying to still to court.

Skinkstripe »
Once again that heaviness weighed Skinkstripe down. It didn’t help when Wadekit nuzzled into her fur. For the second time she realized just how big her kits had gotten, but they were still her kits, and no matter what they would always be her babies. She was honored to have raised them, but it was time for her to take a step back and allow somebody new to take over. It had been hard letting Kiwiheart go when he had become an apprentice, but he had grown into a fine tom, and Skinkstripe knew Wadekit, Dovekit, Sunsetkit, and Creekkit would be the same. Letting them go wouldn’t be easy, but she had survived when letting Kiwiheart go, she could do it again. At least she wasn’t a kittypet. The molly had heard horror stories about humans taking the litters of their kittypets and getting rid of them forever. She thought back to when Abaloneskip had been talking about his experience back before he and his deceased mate had joined the Clan. They had left before their kits had been born, but a large factor for why they had left had been due to wanting to be in the lives of their kits for as long as they could. Growing up in the Clan meant she would always be there with her kits even as they grew up and became adults themselves. For that she would always be grateful.
A purr rumbled loud from the queen as Wadekit seconded her words. She nodded before leaning slightly downward to lick him between the ears. ”That’s right. You don’t have to worry about doing anything but listening,” she told him. Which, for a kit, that was easier said than done, but Skinkstripe felt like the nerves her four all had right now would prevent them from causing any trouble.
Her ears swiveled in the direction of Sunsetkit as her only daughter spoke up. Skinkstripe shifted her gaze to look at the little molly. It took a lot to make her confident daughter nervous, the queen was well aware of this. It was a big day for the kits, and while she was sure they were excited deep down, standing in front of the Clan wasn’t easy. ”Don’t worry, Sunsetkit. If you get a mentor you don’t end up liking, I’ll make sure it’s changed.” All the healers in the Clan were capable cats, but if Sunsetkit ended up not clicking with her assigned mentor Skinkstripe had no qualms in getting it changed. Coconutfall wasn’t a cat she wanted to talk with, but for the sake of her kits she would strike up an entire conversation with the tomcat. Dovekit »
Dovekit’s nerves were all over the place. He both couldn’t sit still while also stuck in one place. This was a moment he had dreamed about since he had learned what apprentices were, but with every cat staring at him and his siblings, he couldn’t help but shy away, wishing he could run back into the nursery and hide under the moss of his nest.
Or, well, the moss of what was once his nest. It wouldn’t be his nest anymore. Last night had been the last time he would ever sleep in the nursery; so many times had he thought he’d be stuck inside the nursery forever, and while becoming an apprentice was still exciting for him, he felt more nervous about it than ever. What Skinkstripe had told them to do was simple enough, but what if he messed up or what if he got stuck with a mentor that didn’t like him? He prayed to the Ocean and back that Kiwiheart would be chosen as his mentor, though the one time he had mentioned that to Skinkstripe she had told him that was incredibly unlikely due to their familial relationship and also because Kiwiheart was still so young. It saddened the young tom, but he still held out a little bit of hope.
As if Wadekit had read his mind, Dovekit looked over at his brother, eyes wide. ”I really want it to be Kiwiheart, but Mama said that probably won’t happen…” The young tom shuffled his paws nervously against the ground. For what it was worth he knew he wanted to be a healer, but the only healer he really knew was Kiwiheart. If asked about a second choice for mentor Dovekit would sadly have no idea who he’d pick.
In a louder voice directed to all three of his littermates, he asked, ”What about all of you? Who do you want your mentors to be?”
Redwave »
Movement from his peripheral caught Redwave’s attention. He had sat where he was in the hopes of being alone, but it seemed as if another cat had been able to find him and then decided to actively seek him out. For a second his mind flashed to Stormsurf. Had the handsome healer come to pay him a visit? If so, Redwave had no qualms. He was finding himself rather enjoying the other tomcat’s presence as of late. The healer was quite the valuable feline to have around, and in the last few moons the hunter had lowered his guard around Stormsurf, trusting in the other tomcat, delving deeper into the thoughts that played over and over in his head.
There was disappointment when it was a different voice calling out to him, followed by a familiar diluted pelt, but the disappointment lasted for only a split second and was soon replaced with a sense of relief. When was the last time Redwave had been able to spend time with his sister outside of meetings that involved a wide variety of other Clanmates? They weren’t exactly in private here, either, but this was the best they had gotten in some time.
Redwave nodded in agreement. His eyes narrowed as he turned a sharp look toward Coconutfall, the brown tabby perched atop the Fallen Snake. ”He shouldn’t even be leading this Clan gathering,” he huffed, flexing his claws out of their sheathes. ”It should already be the Clan’s rightful leader doing this.” Just as Jacarandabloom had done, he did not put a name to who he believed was the rightful oracle. Of course he thought of himself as one of the rightful options to take over as Clan oracle, but with a look toward his sister Redwave noted that he would have no arguments if she were the one to step forward and lead. Jacarandabloom was a strong, capable warrior who had a good head on her shoulders. If she were to take the lead then the Clan would be in good paws.
Though it would be a lie to say that Redwave didn’t have visions of the future with him as the Clan’s oracle. His ambition wasn’t so great that he would tear down either of his littermates for the spot, but if he were offered the position he wouldn’t turn it down. Perhaps this was something he needed to discuss with Jacarandabloom in the very near future. He supposed he would offer Lilypool a spot in this conversation as well since she had a claim as well, but the hunter doubted his soft spoken sister would be pining after the oracle spot.

Whiteshark »
Apprentice ceremonies had become even more exciting now that Whiteshark was a full scout. Once dreaming about the day she would get her full name had now turned into dreaming about receiving an apprentice of her own; she was well aware of how young she still was, just barely out of her apprentice stage, but the molly was full of ambitious hope, and as her mix-matched gaze landed on the four kits at Skinkstripe's side, Whiteshark couldn't stop the tremors of anticipation that trembled through her. Surely one of the four would want to be train as a scout, and while Whiteshark didn't have much faith in Coconutfall, surely her father would see just how capable she was. She had practically killed a boa back when she had been a 'paw! That had to equate to something special, right?
Though, as she thought about it for a moment longer, she wasn't exactly sure how smart a move it would be to give one of Skinkstripe's kits to her or even Lionfang to train. Would Coconutfall, a cat that Skinkstripe had come to grow harsh toward, allow one of his kits to mentor the older scout's kits? It seemed unlikely, but again, Whiteshark was brimming with optimistic hope.
As she stepped toward the crowd of gathered cats, the young scout took a spot near one of her fellow scouts who had also received a full name not that long ago, either. "Hoping you get an apprentice?" She asked Batfall in a quiet voice, gaze still on the cats ahead of her though her ears were angled toward Batfall, eager to hear his answer. Coconutfall »
After waiting a few minutes for the Clan to gather, Coconutfall noticed a wide arrangement of Clanmates in the middle of camp. His gaze scanned the crowd for any sign of Gingerbreeze’s pelt, but when not noticing the molly right away he looked back to where her older sister sat surrounded by her four kits. It was no secret that Skinkstripe had a low opinion on him, and he was sure she wasn’t incredibly happy that he was the one standing here today naming her kits as apprentices.
He took a deep breath. Steeling his nerves, he waved his tail high in the air, signaling to his Clan that it was time to begin. ”Thank you all for gathering. As you may have already noticed, we are here to welcome four new apprentices to our ranks today.” Coconutfall once again scanned the crowd, falling silent to let his words be taken in before continuing, ”Sunsetkit, would you please step forward,” he called down to the small ruddy molly as he decided to start with her.

————- ❀ ————- Gingerbreeze with open camp @ Tag
Gingerbreeze had snuck out of Coconutfall's den earlier that morning, having woken up just as the sun was rising. She thought a walk around the territory might do her nicely, and there wasn't a huge threat now that the boa had been dealt with, not that it would've stopped the red tabby anyways. After giving her sleeping mate an affectionate lick on the cheek, she slipped away from his side and made her way out to calm falls to be alone with her thoughts. Better to stay close to camp than wander too far, she knew Coconutfall would worry.
Her green eyes fixated on the small waterfall, the roar of the water not too much to drown out her thoughts. She started to reminisce on the past few moons, starting to when Coconutfall so courageously announced himself the father of her kits. The memory of it still made her stomach flip and her chest flutter, smiling to herself. The clan obviously had their opinions and it caused another rift with Skinkstripe, but Vanillabloom had been surprisingly calm about the whole thing. Gingerbreeze had been the most worried for the queen to find out, expecting her to be enraged upon the reveal of infidelity, especially when she'd been the most supportive during and after her pregnancy. But that's not what Vanillabloom was like, and the two had recently begun to resume their friendship, something that Gingerbreeze would be eternally grateful for. They spent most afternoons together, as the white she-cat was one of the few felines that accepted her company without judgment. Other than that, Gingerbreeze often found herself with her kits, the awkwardness slowly starting to fade since the reveal of their father, or trying to patch up her relationship with her sister.
Her sister. The red tabby tensed and looked up to the sky, finally realizing how late it had gotten. She remembered it being mentioned that her little nephews and niece were becoming apprentices today. There was no way she could miss out on their ceremony, Skinkstripe would never let her hear the end of it. Gingerbreeze stood and raced back to camp, slipping through the entrance just as Coconutfall had called Sunsetkit forward, the first one of the four. Relief flooded her system and she stayed towards the outskirts of the crowd, knowing better than to shove her way towards the front now that they ceremony had officially started. Still panting and trying to catch her breath, she leaned back on her hind legs slightly, raising her head to try and get the attention of her mate to let him know that she was there. ————- ❀ ————- Mantafur with open camp @ Tag
Still asleep when there was the call of an announcement, Mantafur snored loudly in his nest, rolling over onto his side. Another roll and the large tom found himself out of his nest and landing right on a sharp pricker. "Ow!" He yowled, doing a couple of turns until he was finally able to reach and pull out the thorn. Not a great way to wake up, but a good reminder to grab some new moss. His hazel eyes flicked up as he noticed the den clearing out. "Hey, where's everyone going?" He asked to no one in particular, following behind someone and sitting himself within the gathered cats. Using context clues he could figure out that it was a clan gathering, but for what? Good thing Mantafur didn't have to wait long as Coconutfall called Sunsetkit forward, essentially cluing him into the fact that this was an apprentice ceremony. He suddenly got very excited, hoping one of Skinkstripe's kits was planning on being a scout. Then at least he had a chance to become their mentor, then he and Finrunner could finally train together.
————- ❀ ————- Pearlwave with open camp @ Tag
Pearlwave was one of the first cats to gather when Coconutfall had called for them, figuring Lilypool or Jacarandabloom would make their way over soon enough. Her yellow eyes stayed peeled for either of the tabico's pelts, but the crowd had come in quicker than she thought and neither of the mollies could be seen. She found herself stuck in the middle right as the first kit of Skinkstripe's litter was called. A frown was firmly set on her face, feeling a bit foolish for not grabbing her friends first and expecting them to come to her. Still, the idea of new apprentices was always enough to lift her spirits. Maybe she would receive one of her own, but she doubted it, still feeling too young to handle that kind of responsibility. She hoped Jacarandabloom would be named as mentor to one of the kits, but then selfishly took it back, knowing it would only take up more of her time. The tabico was already busy enough with planning Redwave's coup as well as her normal scout duties. Pearlwave was really starting to worry about the molly, hoping the coup wouldn't consume her. She understood its reasoning, but it honestly felt more like revenge than justice at this point. She let out a quiet sigh, trying to think if there was anything she could do to lift Jacarandabloom's spirits.

With the reassurance from his mother, Wadekit was feeling a little more confident. He could do this, it couldn't be that hard. All he would have to do is go up in front of the entire clan, repeat some words, and then meet his mentor for the very first time. That was still pretty nerve-wracking, but knowing he had his siblings by his side made him feel better. It was just a shame that he wouldn't be able to share his apprenticeship with any of his siblings. Dovekit and Sunsetkit would at least have each other to rely on, while he and Creekkit were going into completely different professions. Still, his heart had been set on being a hunter since he was only two moons old, plus Skinkstripe said he showed promise to being a great hunter.
His thin tail tail-tip flickered with a hint of excitement as they got into talking about their mentors, Wadekit trying not to giggle when Dovekit mentioned again how he'd like their older brother to be his mentor. In turn he wondered if either of their cousins would end up mentoring Creekkit, but that seemed even more unlikely. "I hope Flickerdawn is my mentor." He finally spoke after Creekkit revealed his choice. Wadekit honestly didn't know too many warriors, but he remembered the pretty calico when she would come to visit her sister from time-to-time. She had always been really nice to them and he admired how outgoing she was. One could say that the young tom had quite the kithood crush on her. "Wavecrest would also be nice." He added as a throwaway, not wanting to be teased by his brothers. Though he did respect Wavecrest's quiet and hardworking attitude.
Wadekit's ears perked when their sister, Sunsetkit was suddenly called forward. Oh by the Tides it was starting, this was it. The last time any of them would have to bear the 'kit' title, now graduating to a 'paw'. Even if he didn't receive either mentors he hoped for, he just hoped that whoever Coconutfall chose would be nice.

Batfall
As the fuzzy tom finally made his way to the Fallen Snakes and found a place he felt comfortable in. He patiently waited for the Oracle to continue the ceremony as more of his clanmates swarmed across the old snakewood tree. He let out a sigh, hoping this meeting was over quickly as he wanted to go straight to his nest to snooze.
A familiar voice soon startled him. The cat felt his heart skip a few beats before he reluctantly looked next to him to meet Whiteshark, the apprentice that took out the boa a couple of moons ago bravely.Whiteshark sitting next to me? Interesting.. Batfall didn't understand why the molly sat next to him as they truly never spoke, but it's never too late to make friends with any cat, especially since the dark cat never really befriended anyone here but Tigerpaw.
"An apprentice?" Batfall finally spoke, including his signature snarky tone,"Coconutfall would be an idiot if he gave me one of Skinkstripe's." The tom let out a small chuckle. "You look excited however, do you expect an apprentice today?"
Batfall's eyes shined as he teased the cat next to him. Oh, how he missed being a nuisance to other cats.

Cassia Cassia chuckled. "I suppose you're right. It's a bit hard to be grumpy in this fine weather," she finished, stepping forward and curling herself into a ball of calico fur, close enough to Yoko that their pelts touched.
Although she denied it as much as she could, it was no doubt that Yoko was starting to grow on the calico loner. He used to appear self-centered and naive to Cassia, but after they had sustained grave injuries from a fight with a Clan cat, she'd come to realize just how much the tom was willing to protect himself and others. He proved himself to be a capable cat, with just a little bit of commitment issues...
"This is nice. I could do this for moons-" she mewed, pausing to stretch her paws out in front of herself- "how's your leg doing?"with yoko rob lucci's wife(note: hope you don't mind my input, riso! was going for a bit of drama regarding the wound yoko got from the fight. i was thinking it was showing signs of infection but i can delete it :3)

Yoko
The white tom let out a faint smile upon hearing Cassia agree to his idea. He was actually quite surprised that the molly agreed to such an idea that would have made her claw his ears off a few moons ago, but in the end, Yoko was glad she did agree.
He opened his narrow amber eyes and was met with Cassia already curled next to him, barely touching his fur. His whole body turned hot just by feeling the slight touch of her dark fur. Yoko quickly darted his eyes away, face flushed, hoping that this confusing feeling went away.
"I'm glad you realized that too." The loner couldn't help but let out another small purr, only proving that he truly was at peace at the moment. He had only realized that it's been a few moons since Cassia and he faced the vicious clan cat, causing grave injuries to both of them. Deep down Yoko was finally appreciative just simply relaxing, contrary to his old lifestyle filled with instability. That was until Cassia brought up his leg.
"Oh, my leg? " his ears dropped as soon as he remembered how he foolishly injured himself during the fight, trying to distract the clan cat from hurting Cassia even more. However, ever since that day, his leg and his body had felt weird. He had a throbbing pain in his leg and itchiness that made him want to tear his skin apart with his claws. Yoko wasn't sure what was going on, but he didn't want to ruin the peace he and Cassia had, after all this tranquility wouldn't surely last forever.
"It's been...fine I suppose." he murmured quietly, unsure how to respond without giving away the obvious. "I'm finally able to walk again without needing your help again," he said in a gleeful tone, trying to change his tone to prevent Cassia from being suspicious, "I just want to say thank you though, for of course helping me. I felt like a kit again when you were getting me food and water, and also lending me a shoulder to walk around."
"I don't think any other cat would do this for me besides you and I'm-" he looked to the side again, body feeling hot from both embarrassment and the obvious affection he was giving the molly,"grateful... for you."
I can't believe I said that let alone to a molly. What's happening to me? Showing vulnerability, she probably thinks I'm some coward now. (AND ITS OKAY!!!! I like that idea so i'll go along with it!! also sorry for the long post , i think its pretty obvious i wanted to rp yoko for a long time lol)

Flickerdawn sat quietly as she watched Sunsetkit get called forward, her eyes flashing back and forth between the litter. A part of her couldn't resist looking around for Wavecrest, wondering if he was thinking the same thing she was, if he was as hopeful to get an apprentice as her. They'd had a sort of rivalry over the past few moons, and while she did want to 'win', so to speak, she also couldn't help but admit that Wavecrest would likely make a great mentor. Quietness aside - Wavecrest was a dependable and trustworthy cat, truly a prime example of what a warrior should be.
Whispering caught her attention, and she turned her head to the two apprentices next to her,
"I can't wait to be a warrior and get my own apprentice - I'm gonna be the best hunter this clan has ever seen," murmured Morningpaw. Hurricanepaw sat next to her in amused silence. "Maybe by then you'll have gotten bigger, Hurricanepaw. You have to admit, it'd be kind of hard to have an apprentice bigger than you." Flickerdawn quickly flicked Morningpaw on the shoulder in admonishment.
"Don't be rude, Morningpaw," she whispered, watching as Morningpaw hung her head. "I know you didn't mean anything by it, but poking fun at Hurricanepaw's size is mean. For all you know, he may be the best scout this clan has ever seen. Everyone has potential, if you give them a chance. Now, hush, and watch the ceremony."

Finrunner smiled with pride as he watched the ceremony, reminiscing on the day he'd been assigned as Aloepaw's mentor. He'd quickly grown fond of the young molly. Try as he might to be a level-headed, sensible mentor, Finrunner was Finrunner - and Aloepaw was his twin in every way but blood. It only took about two walks of shame to the healers' den for him to realize that he couldn't be the kind of mentor that was rational and logical. He had to be himself, even if that meant attempting to figure out how to efficiently hunt in the trees, without having to climb down one tree before moving to the next. Aloepaw might have inspired that last thought.
Speaking of the young molly, Finrunner shifted his head just enough to cast his eyes around, wondering where his apprentice had run off to. He was tempted to challenge her to a competition of balance to see how well she could move among the branches. That was probably a bad idea, though, considering the last branch he'd climbed onto broke under the sheer size of him. Pro tip - when the branch starts creaking, it might be time to go back to the trunk.
He could still remember the exasperation in Minkesong's voice when he'd had to explain that simple fact to Finrunner.

Dovekit »
Dovekit had heard about Crocodilefang a few times. Skinkstripe had mentioned the tomcat here and there when telling her litter stories about scouting patrols. From what he knew of the older tomcat he was a serious hard worker and a cat of few words. He sounded a bit scary to Dovekit in all honesty, and the tom’s name didn’t help with that image either. Crocodiles were scary and the suffix “fang” wasn’t all that inviting either. Dovekit wasn’t sure how easily he could see his soft-spoken brother and Crocodilefang getting along, but nothing was impossible.
Curious on who Wadekit wanted as a mentor, Dovekit centered his attention toward his other brother. Despite his nerves squirming around like worms in his belly, the young tom managed a humorous smirk when Wadekit brought up Flickerdawn. Dovekit was young, but he noticed how his brother got when the calico hunter visited the nursery to spend time with Vanillabloom. He looked at her the way Skinkstripe looked at their father - which was icky if Dovekit ever got a say about that. He could never imagine getting all mushy over some other cat. It just sounded gross to him.
Right before he opened his jaws to speak, Sunsetkit was being called forward by Coconutfall. Dovekit looked toward his sister and then up at the oracle, eyes growing wide as his paws trembled. This was it. This was really happening. In just a few minutes the four would no longer be kits, and instead, they’d all be apprentices headed down their own paths.
Whiteshark »
As a scout Whiteshark had learned to be perceptive. Her mentor had taught her how to make out the subtle cues another cat’s body could tell her. Mastering such a skill would give her the upper paw in a battle, figuring out what her enemy’s next move would be. It was an important skill to learn, yet Whiteshark had a while to go before she ever mastered it. The muscular molly had always been more of a physical fighter rather than a tactical one, but even she had noticed the startle in Batfall when she called out to him.
It was true that the two didn’t talk all that much. They had trained as scouts together, crossing paths more often than not, but Whiteshark had been too preoccupied with her own training and - this wasn’t something she would admit to any other cat outright - mooning after another certain molly to really spend time outside of patrols with Batfall. She had noticed Tigerpaw hanging out with the fuzzy tom from time to time, which was of no surprise to her; she was certain her brother could make friends with a crocodile if he ever tried.
Despite her and Batfall never really being close, he was a fellow scout around her age, and now that Whiteshark was a full scout she had grown and matured from her apprentice days. She was such an adult that she knew being friends, or at least on friendly terms, with her fellow denmates was the right thing to do.
The mostly white molly let out a huff, more amused than anything else. ”Coconutfall’s done some stupid things, but if you got an apprentice that would be one of the less stupid things.” That was a topic that Whiteshark had a lot of opinions on, but she kept the words to herself. Now wasn’t the time to go on about her father. ”I’ve heard one or two of the kits are interested in becoming a scout, and if you haven’t realized, I’m one of the best scouts this Clan has ever seen.” The molly visibly swelled with pride, a cocky smirk pulling at her lips. ”There’s no better option than me to mentor one of the kits.” Plus they were her cousins, the kits of her mother’s sister. Getting one of them as an apprentice would also give Whiteshark a chance to bond with her younger cousins and perhaps have a relationship with them like she had with Kiwiheart.

Cassia Cassia smiled, her gaze warm and affectionate, appearing to be green tinted with gold. "I'm grateful for you, too. You earned that wound protecting me, and, although I wish you hadn't hurt yourself, it feels kinda nice, y'know?" She closed her eyes, resting her head on her paws. "If you begin to feel a fever, you should tell me. I don't know much about herbs but I do remember the scent of the herb my mother gave to me when I was a kit.. Ya know, fur getting hot and itchy, nausea, all that.. feel free to ask for help."

Sunsetkit "Oh no.. It's my turn!" She turned around, gazing up at her mother one last time before she stepped forward. Soon enough she was standing before the Oracle. Wow, this guy's kinda scary.. no wonder some cats don't like him, she pondered, narrowing her eyes and puffing her chest out to seem more confident when, in reality, she was about to start trembling under the eyes of HibiscusClan's cats. She flicked her ears impatiently, waiting for something to happen. with coconutfall Feathertalon

Batfall
This cat... Batfall looked at Whiteshark with irritation after hearing what the scout said. She's even more delusional than me! The small cat let out a laugh under his breath that grew into a burst of laughter.
"You? The best here? " the cat couldn't stop laughing, how can such a cat be so egotistical and prideful from a single thing they did as an apprentice? "Are you so sure of that Whiteshark? I think Coconutfall would be even more of an idiot if he handed you an apprentice." His mind soon imagined Whiteshark having her own apprentice and how she would probably mold that apprentice to be a mini her. He shuddered from the thought of having two self-centered scouts, beside him, among the clan.
While it was true that Whiteshark was better than the average cat here, Batfall still couldn't believe that the white molly was better than the veterans here. As soon as Batfall's hounding finally died down, he shot a look at his clanmate before mewing,"Besides your previous statement," Batfall then moved his gaze at Sunsetkit, who was walking up, ready to gain their apprentice rank, "I do think you're not the worst cat to get an apprentice. Better than me. I don't think I can handle waking up extra early to train someone who probably won't be listening. "
Batfall was relieved knowing that perhaps Coconutfall saw that there were better options for future scout apprentices, he knew deep down that Whiteshark was a better fit than him and most cats, he just wanted a rile up the cat after hearing how prideful she was.

Yoko
He dully side-eyed the calico, noticing her gaze filled with genuine affection. His eye opened a bit more from shock hearing Cassia also sharing the same feelings of gratitude. He dipped his head as he felt his face get hot once again. A molly, especially this one, making me blush? How great.
That warm feeling was soon interrupted by Cassia mentioning the symptoms he had been dealing with since that day. I have to tell her eventually. If I don't tell her now, she'll eventually find out and give me an earful. The tom suddenly got up and departed Cassia's side to get closer to the molly.
"Don't get at me, okay? " his tone visibly changed to a much softer tone. Yoko started licking her ear, hoping to put Cassia into a much more relaxed mood to avoid the feeling of guilt if she gave him a harsh response. "I..I haven't been in a good state. I have the exact symptoms you mentioned and it's been...it's been eating me up inside since that day," the white tom stopped licking her ear and looked straight at her,"I didn't tell you because I didn't want to put you through even more stress."
Yoko pressed his muzzle against her coat, hoping the loner didn't feel upset at him for being dishonest for her own sake. "I just wanted our peace to last longer."

Cassia Cassia's ears twitched, her eyes narrowing with concern. She raised to her paws. "Just.. don't hide anything like that again. You could really hurt yourself," she mewed, acting like she was a professional healer, when really, she could only guess what she was meant to do.
She looked up at Yoko, briefly brushing against him as she paced around him in an attempt to see his wound. She felt how hot and heavy his pelt felt, and how it seemed to bristle with every step she took. But she was no fool; it was quite obvious he was not experiencing any nausea.
"Do I really make you that anxious, pretty boy? Your fur's hotter then the sand on sunny days," she teased, a light echo of a purr in her voice.
