Troutwhisker being able to climb well made sense to Brightclaw even if it wasn’t something she herself would have thought about. Hunters did catch birds and other tree dwelling animals all the time, so the fact that they’d easily be able to climb clicked for the scout. Even still, she found herself worrying over the tom. This must be how Troutwhisker felt about me earlier, she thought silently to herself before nodding in acknowledgement. ”Be careful,” she called over to him. ”I’ll move somewhere so that if you fall I can catch you.”

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw watched with bated breath as Troutwhisker climbed in an attempt to get the flower. Anticipation made it hard for her to stay put, her nerves wanting her to pace back and forth, yet she had promised her friend that she would stay right here just in case something happened. The fall wouldn’t be a long one if Troutwhisker fell, but she still wanted to catch his fall. It was always the short falls that did the most damage. Luckily he didn’t have to stay up there long. Through the moonlit shadows of night, Brightclaw watched as the hunter grabbed the flower in his jaws and then gracefully made his way down. It wasn’t until his paws were firmly planted on solid ground that Brightclaw jolted on her paws and bounced with pure mirth.
”You got it, Troutwhisker! You go-“ Words no longer worked for her when Troutwhisker gently placed the flower atop Brightclaw’s head. The scout went silent, at a loss for words. Her eyes blinked once, then twice. She then looked directly at the cream tabby in front of her tail, sure that she looked like a fish out of water.
Ever slowly did a smile trace across her features. ”Do…do I look pretty with it?” Brightclaw asked sheepishly, feeling as if she shouldn’t have inquired that yet she did anyway. Heart racing and adrenaline pumping, she waited for his response.

W A V E C R E S T Startled by her frankness, Wavecrest bit down on his tongue to keep from blurting a retort. Part of playing the game was not immediately firing back. If he responded too quickly then he lost. Her comment had hit its mark, though. He didn't try to be invisible; he didn't even want to be invisible. Though, he didn't really try to stand out, either, did he? Not like he once had. "I assure you, I am perfectly capable of being abundantly delightful if I wish. Alas, desiring to be more intelligent does not make it so." He narrowed his eyes at her. "I suppose both you and your hypothetical apprentice are better off if you're content with your duties as they are. Being a mentor would require no small amount of responsibility and maturity, after all." A small half-smile crept across his muzzle as he turned his gaze back to the newly-minted warrior. He did not add his voice to the cries and shouts around him; the warm glow in his soft blue eyes was testament enough to his pride for Lemonleap.
Wavecrest considered what it would be like if it were his apprentice up there, how it would feel to know that he had played a part in shaping a talented new warrior. "Me with my very own 'paw?" A thoughtful chuckle. It wasn't a bad thought at all. "I think I'd enjoy the challenge. I bet Coconutfall would sooner assign me an apprentice than you." He stood and arched his back in a stretch, releasing the tension from his cramped muscles after sitting for so long. Now was usually when he took off to find Crocodilefang. Yet his eyes found Flickerdawn's instead of searching the surrounding area for his brother. "Unless you managed to prove to Coconutfall otherwise."
P A R R O T C A L L with littlefoam | calm falls @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 "Yes, I know, shame on me." He sighed and rubbed at his side where Littlefoam had poked him with her tail. For just a fraction of a heartbeat, the disappointment in his clear blue eyes was not faked. Again, he had been serious, and again, she'd thought he was teasing. But he swiftly recovered, pulling a theatrical mask back over his fine features. He pressed a paw to his forehead in a dramatic gesture. "You're a saint for putting up with me all these years. And Sunchaser." He chuckled. Patience, thy name is Littlefoam. Ocean bless her. "Speaking of whom--"
At that moment, the Clan erupted into cheers, and Parrotcall lifted his voice along with them. After the clamor subsided, he cleared his throat and turned back to Littlefoam. "Er, speaking of whom, didn't you come here with Sunchaser?" He craned his neck, searching the dispersing cats for his sister's golden fur. She would be harder to spot at night, when the moon painted the landscape in silver and shadow, were it not for the disproportionately large presence she had wherever she went. He'd done his part, and Littlefoam was probably eager to rejoin her friend. Shame they hadn't had much chance to talk during the ceremony, though. "I can take you back to her, if you'd like." Parrotcall spoke at exactly the same time Littlefoam did. He blinked in surprise at the little black-and-white healer. "Sorry, come again?" He must have misheard her; it sounded like she'd asked him to stay.
S T O R M S U R F Stormsurf tried not to look too relieved. Grateful that Redwave had accepted his recommendation without further comment, he strolled after him, his gait loose and unhurried. "Evening, Reedshark." He gave the other warrior a friendly nod as he trotted over to join them. "It is a nice night for a new warrior ceremony, isn't it?" Before either of them could begin to butter him up, Reedshark pointed out their proximity to one another, and just like that, Stormsurf forgot every clever thing he was going to say. He eyed the rather short distance between himself and Redwave and cursed himself for letting the awkward silence hang just a moment too long.
"Oh, didn't you know? Redwave secretly adores me! He even got here early so he could find a hibiscus to give me!" The blue-grey healer laughed heartily and slung his tail over the hunter's shoulders as if they were old friends rather than recent acquaintances. He felt Redwave tense beside him and silently willed him to play along. "He's such a romantic." Stormsurf fluttered his eyelashes at Redwave, fully aware the other tom was going to skin him alive for this later. He dropped his tail from his shoulders and shot Reedshark a matching cheeky grin. "Anyway, we couldn't help but notice you've been a bit -- unsatisfied with current leadership as of late. An opinion shared by many, no doubt. Including us." He glanced sideways at Redwave, wondering how far he should take this. He felt Redwave should be the one to extend the invitation; then there would be no doubt who was in charge here. "In fact, my friend here may have a proposition for you," he hedged, giving the hunter an opening to step in if he wished.

J A C A R A N D A B L O O M with pearlwave | calm falls @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 The pale torbie's eyes glittered with satisfaction at Batpaw's hasty retreat. Picking fights with apprentices was below her, and maybe she should feel ashamed for letting a cat of lower rank get under her fur so easily, but by the Tides, did it feel good to win. In her current state, verbal combat was all she had left, slinging insults her only means of defense. It was all she could do to regain some semblance of control over her life.
Now she stood alone with Pearlwave. A cat who, until recently, had been her sworn rival. Though it had apparently been one-sided all this time and Jacarandabloom had been none the wiser. She still couldn't really understand why Pearlwave was being nicer to her all of a sudden. She should -- she should offer to let Pearlwave go, right? Wouldn't that be the polite thing to do? "Thanks, but you don't have to stay here with me. You're not stuck. You should go have some fun, find a hibiscus or whatever." She scratched at her ear, feeling a little guilty for feigning disinterest.
When she chanced another look at her companion, at the crestfallen look that had replaced her broad, hopeful grin, Pearlwave's attention was elsewhere. "What is it?" A pause. "Um. Hello?" Jacarandabloom flicked her tail in front of the hunter's glazed eyes. "Pearlwave? Did you hear anything I just said?"
K I W I P A W Whitepaw quickly overtook him, shouldering her way through the crowd without a backward glance, and within moments Kiwipaw had lost sight of her. He ducked and weaved around the tangle of bodies, the cats around him much taller than he, murmuring hasty apologies whenever he bumped into someone. At least his friend's tabby-and-white pelt made her easy to find. He followed the sound of her cheerful voice and joined her and Lemonleap beside the water.
"Hey, Lemonleap!" Kiwipaw had to tilt his head back to meet the new warrior's shining gaze. He couldn't tell if Lemonleap had actually grown taller since last week or if he was just pretending. "Don't listen to her; Lemonleap is a fine name. Much better than Lemonboa." He rolled his eyes at Whitepaw's suggestion. "But Saltwhisker's right, though," Kiwipaw went on, feeling a little offended on behalf of his fellow healer. "Those 'weird leaves' may have kept that scar from turning into an amputation! If infection had set in and begun to spread..." He sighed and twitched his ears. Lemonleap probably wasn't looking for a lecture - Saltwhisker had already given him an earful from the sound of it - and Kiwipaw doubted either of the two scouts would understand anyway.
"Er, nevermind." He turned back to Whitepaw. "Well, I still think Whiteflower is pretty hard to beat--" he ducked in anticipation of another incoming swat -- "but Whiteclaw would sound pretty cool on you, too." He cocked his head quizzically. "What do you guys think about me?"

Flickerdawn's gaze followed Wavecrest's, her bright green eyes falling onto the newly named Lemonleap as the clan chanted his name. Her eyes glowed with pride for the young tom. He might not have been her apprentice, but she and everyone else had been there as he trained and grew into himself. And, perhaps selfishly, a part of her wished she had had an apprentice to earn their name. Despite her bravado and her jokes, she had often imagined herself having an apprentice, having the kind of relationship that she had had with her own mentor. It would be nice, she supposed.
"Well, then, I guess it's a race to see who gets an apprentice first, isn't it? Perhaps we should start trying to influence Skinkstripe's litter now," she mewed teasingly, eyes gleaming. "Maybe we can convince them all to be hunters."
She was joking, of course, but a small piece of Flickerdawn's heart warmed at the thought of one of those kits becoming her apprentice.

Cannadrop flushed lightly at her comment about not being scared of him, dropping his eyes to the ground. Her intense blue and green eyes roved over him and he felt almost nervous, tail tip twitching.
"To be honest, I'm not sure I'd have had much fun there anyways. Nutmegblossom is usually the main cat to speak to me, though she often drags Clovestrike along with her. I appreciate your honesty, though. It's quite nice to know at least someone doesn't think I'm scary," he meowed sincerely. It wasn't that he minded being considered intimidating - that certainly had its pros and its cons. He never really cared much that others found him hard to talk to. He did, however, care that they though him unapproachable entirely. He might not talk much, but Cannadrop enjoyed hearing from his clanmates, and learning about their lives. He didn't have to speak to be involved.
"Certainly. I'm sure they're either getting hungry or bored, so I imagine they'll want something at the very least. And, well, we're not exactly alone, are we? I mean, we have each other to talk to. Better than empty air, I suppose," he grinned.

Fear was not something Finrunner was acquainted with. Perhaps it was because he was a bit on the slow side - though, really, how much of that was true and how much was an act was anyone's guess. For all that he wasn't quite sure why he could clime up a tree but not climb back down it, Finrunner was surprisingly thoughtful when it came time for anything to do with battle and, on occasion, hunting.
Shock, though? Shock was as close a friend to Finrunner as Flickerdawn was - perhaps closer, given that many things shocked the massive tomcat (or, at least, seemed to shock him). So, really, the shock that came with Mantafur suddenly appearing from a bush and flying towards him wasn't all that unexpected, though anyone would certainly have been taken aback to be suddenly leapt upon by a cat coming out of foliage. The residual falling, and tumbling to and fro, however, was quite foreign indeed. Not many cats could knock Finrunner off of his paws - literally speaking.
When he finally stopped rolling, Finrunner lay on his back, eyes to the stars above. He could hear Mantafur's voice next to him, teasing him.
"Well, now, that's just rude," Finrunner huffed, though he couldn't fight the grin crawling its way onto his face. "If you ask me, the only scary thing out here is you, rummaging about in the leaves and leaping onto unsuspecting clanmates. What if I'd twisted a paw? Hm? I bet you wouldn't be laughing at me then?" Try as he might to sound chastising and mature, Finrunner couldn't hush away the laugh creeping up from his chest. He turned his head away from Mantafur, hiding his chuckle under a cough to keep up his act.

Whitepaw »
Whitepaw fluffed her chest out, stretching up on her legs, eyes sparkling proudly. ”That’s what I was telling Kiwipaw earlier,” she mewed as she motioned toward the brown healer apprentice. ”Whiteboa would be such an awesome name. Maybe since you thought of it too then it’s an actual possibility.” It made perfect sense to the molly that her name would one day be Whiteboa. Not only was a strong sounding name for a strong cat like herself, but it had personal meaning behind it; that boa never stood a chance once she and Butterflypaw had hunted it down. The snake had gotten away, living only a few days longer, but Whitepaw had wounded it greatly, she was sure of that. It had wounded her as well, but that was now something she wore with pride.
Curiously she eyed Lemonleap’s own scar. The fur around it was still visibly torn and parts of the flesh still somewhat inflamed. It was an impressive scar. ”Whoah…” She breathed, taken aback by how long the wound was - it was longer than her own battle scar. The molly fluffed her pelt out as she then showed off her own scar, not wanting to be outdone by the new warrior’s possession. ”Look at the one I have! Pretty cool, yeah?” Lemonleap’s scar was way more than just a bite mark whereas Whitepaw’s was mostly just where fangs had entered deep into her muscle with a bit of tear from where she had pulled away.
The bi-colored apprentice snorted hearing Lemonleap’s retelling of his time in the healers’ den. It made her glad how well hers had healed up with the worst part of the process being the fact that she had to deal with some of those itchy bugs. ”Algaewing took care of my wound for me. She didn’t seem too weird, even around Saltwhisker.” Whitepaw shrugged, not too terribly interested in Saltwhisker’s possible ailment. She never did pay much kind to the gray and white tom - her attention had mostly been on Algaewing and how it was still an odd feeling that they were siblings, and she had a lot of her mind occupied on Butterflypaw as well. What could she say? The healer apprentice was always on her mind, and getting to stay in the healers’ den near her had been quite the distraction.
But, if she was being completely fair, the healers’ den just wasn’t for her. She had never understood all the talk they did of herbs and injuries, which is why she was grateful when Kiwipaw brought the conversation back to warrior names. Whitepaw wanted to let it be known that she was glad her healer friend had a passion and was smart in his field of work, but healing stuff just never made much sense to her and wasn’t the most invigorating of topics.
The molly scrunched her face in thought. ”I’m gonna say Kiwibug,” she mewed, half teasing, half serious. Kiwibug wasn’t that bad of a name. She wouldn’t put it off the table just yet. ”Or maybe something like Kiwileaf. That suits you. Another option is that you’re the one who’s gonna get ‘flower’ - Kiwiflower doesn’t sound all that bad, either.”
Redwave »
In an instant Redwave went from bold to mentally shrinking under Reedshark’s ever watchful gaze. Warmth prickled underneath his pelt, itching his skin. This only irritated the tom - more at himself than at Reedshark or even Stormsurf. His bobbed tail twitched ever so slightly, paws shuffling against the ground as he stood there listening to the two toms talk about him and Stormsurf as if the two were an item.
Romance had never been something Redwave focused his thoughts on. There had been fleeting thoughts here and there, especially when he had been an apprentice and was stepping into the world of attraction. He could remember a few times in which Lilypool - Lilypaw back then - had spoken with him, her mind clearly on some to or molly she had found to be cute and would then get nervous around if they ever interacted. Most of Lilypaw’s crushes had only lasted a few days, a moon at most, and Redwave had never understood those feelings until he had been an older apprentice. He didn’t let all of that get in his way, though, and he sure wasn’t going to let it get in his way now. Not even if Stormsurf’s fur was as soft as flower petals and he was as handsome as ever in the watery light of the full moon. There was no way Redwave was going to let himself fall under the healer’s spell. He had too much on the line to let potential love distract him.
Heat still radiated off his pelt as he eyed Stormsurf and then Reedshark. The hunter almost said something about the hibiscus but then stopped himself short. Was this truly something to argue about? Rational thought took ahold of him for once and he decided that this was a battle not worth unsheathing his claws for. Redwave stood down, but not without shooting Stormsurf a rather sharp look at the healer’s act.
It wasn’t until Stormsurf handed the spotlight over to Redwave that the tabby tom pulled himself out of his stupor. He dipped his head toward his companion and turned to Reedshark. This was going to be a delicate conversation despite knowing that the brown tabby was more on their side than not. One wrong word and that support could crumble. ”As Stormsurf mentioned, there are cats who no longer see Coconutfall fit for leadership, and that’s something we ourselves believe.” Redwave gestured toward Stormsurf and added, ”We’re hoping to gather enough cats that support us to appoint the Clan’s new rightful oracle. Tradition states that an oracle only be mates with the cat chosen for them and pick one of the resulting kits as their heir, which clearly didn’t happen, and I’d say it’s not a coincidence that Coconutfall broke tradition and then immediately the Clan gets an odd infestation and a deadly boa. Wouldn’t you say those are some odd happenings?” Redwave’s amber eyes narrowed in question, falling silent as he awaited a response from Reedshark, ever eager to know if the older tom agreed with what he just said.

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw had never been a vain cat. What she looked like never mattered to her. She knew she didn’t have to be pretty or good looking to protect her Clan from the dangers the jungle was hiding, so when the question had slipped off her tongue the scout stood there, eyes wide with the breath stuck in her lungs. Why had she said that? And why was her heart racing in anticipation of what Troutwhisker was going to say? Every inch of her burned with a newfound emotion that she didn’t have a name for, and with each passing second the feeling grew heavier and heavier on her shoulders. Brightclaw shivered despite the warmth. Never had she felt so self conscious than right now.
After what felt like seasons to Brightclaw, the hunter finally answered. Brightclaw grew even warmer as he spoke, fur prickling with a newfound heat that flushed her skin. Eyes glanced downward as her paws shuffled along the ground. ”Hibiscus flowers are very pretty,” she mewed, voice sounding far away as if she were in a daze. Did Troutwhisker really mean what he had just said? There was no way she was prettier than the flower, but no deception was in his voice. He sounded as honest as ever.
Vanillabloom »
Perhaps Cannadrop wore a frown on his face more often than not, and maybe he wasn’t the best in social situations, but Vanillabloom had never once thought of the silver tabby as scary. She could vaguely see as to why other cats would think that, but she wouldn’t have guessed that this was a problem for him so often that it was now eating at him; the queen could only assume it was a bothersome thought that kept him up at night. He didn’t deserve being treated as such, and if Vanillabloom ever heard a Clanmate saying something of the manner about Cannadrop she was sure to shut it down now.
This was unlikely to happen tonight as the camp was rather bare, most cats enjoying themselves down at Calm Falls. A few remained in camp, most stuck in the healers’ den. This gave Vanillabloom a chance to not worry about defending Cannadrop, not yet at least, and instead she thought back to the kits. Before slipping out into camp the trio had been fast asleep, but kits were strange and unpredictable creatures. It wouldn’t be a surprise to the white molly if one, or all, had decided to wake up.
Before heading toward the nursery Vanillabloom glanced toward the fresh-kill pile. ”Do you mind grabbing something to eat? I know Skinkstripe has been working on weaning her litter, and if they’re awake and hungry it would do them good to try prey. And if not,” she paused her words with a shrug and an amused smile, ”we can just have a meal to ourselves.”

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw’s skin continued to heat up, a fire burning underneath her pelt under Troutwhisker’s soft gaze. Why it was suddenly getting so hot, she had no idea, but if she started melting it wouldn’t be of any surprise to the molly. Did he really mean what he had just said? Did he think she was pretty than even a hibiscus flower? Brightclaw had never thought much of her looks, but right now she felt self conscious about her physical features. For a molly she was bulky, muscular, tom-like in structure. Scars riddled her pelt from scuffles she had been a part of, and while usually scars were a sign of bravery and something to be proud of, the ginger tabby was for once super aware of them and how easy they could make her pelt look patchy and dull. Maybe there was something she could do to make some of her fur grow back around the scars, or she could puff her pelt out to hide the old injuries. There had to be something out there that could do the trick. Perhaps she’d ask Coppershore about that some point soon - he would know if any herbs could accomplish that.
The molly snapped out of her thoughts when Troutwhisker spoke up again. She blinked at him, still somewhat mentally distant from everything else but aware enough to catch what he had asked. ”Y-yeah, we probably…should,” she stammered lightly. ”Don’t wanna miss too much.” And she didn’t want to worry any cat that may be looking for her or Troutwhisker.

————- ❀ ————- Mantafur with Finrunner calm falls @ ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » Finrunner had a right to chastise Mantafur, but he would be foolish in thinking the tom would actually listen. If it had been anyone else, Mantafur would've tucked his tail and apologized. But with Finrunner? The black-furred scout knew he had to be teasing him, maybe even trying to hide the fact that he also found humor in the situation. He knew his clanmate too well, there was no fooling Mantafur (in reality it was quite easy to fool Mantafur).
"Rummaging around in the leaves?" He asked with a scoff, reaching out with a paw to press it into Finrunner's shoulder as he turned his head away. Mantafur wasn't very bright, but he was sharp enough to hear the strained laughter under the poorly disguised cough. It made him smirk. "I'll have you know that I was looking for a hibiscus flower, thank you very much. Don't think that I was hiding in the bushes just to scare somebody." Mantafur rolled onto his belly now, shaking his head to try and get some of the dust off of his pelt. "And if you had twisted a paw I think you'd be the one laughing, because I would have to carry your sorry behind all the way back to camp. So, honestly, you should feel bad for me."
Once he was done with his teasing, Mantafur finally stood and shook out the rest of his fur. He leaned over Finrunner, quickly and subtly trying to check if he had, in fact, injured his friend. Feeling confident that the tom was fine, and was just being dramatic, he nosed into the black-and-gray scout's side, trying to roll him over. "Now get up. You have to help me find a flower now that you're here." Reedshark didn't try to pretend like he didn't know the affect he had on others. So perceptive and quite intuitive, it was hard to hide things from the tom. He could feel Redwave's irritation, almost see it radiating off of his pelt, and noticed the way Stormsurf was left hanging in the awkward air. The two were pretty entertaining to watch and Reedshark thought to himself that he might want to keep an eye on them more. Especially as they bounced off one another, setting up their proposition.
The scout himself was trying not to look surprised when Stormsurf confessed that it was Redwave who had been the one to give the hibiscus flower, instead of receive. He had been secretly curious ever since witnessing the exchange at the beginning of the night, but was too far away to see clearly. Little bits of information like that were satisfying to him. Reedshark remained quiet as he listened to the healer go off, but his green eyes remained on Redwave. He thought his reaction was strange at first, but chalked it up to the young tom being flustered for being exposed by his companion.
Once Redwave took over the conversation, Reedshark struggled to keep hold of his poker face. He couldn't believe what he was hearing right now, but relished in the fact that he was being included. Such risky ideals to be said out loud, veiled in a cleverly worded concern. In all honesty, Reedshark didn't care much for tradition. Not that he would ever try to make it known, considering how faithful the majority of the clan was. But this was interesting, and it was hardly surprising that the son of Coconutfall would vouch for his right as oracle. At least he assumed the hunter was talking abut himself when he brought up rightful oracle. He just didn't think it would happen so soon. For his own safety he would have to pick sides carefully. Despite his agnostic views and indifference to the clan's hierarchy, he knew that if things turned violent then he would rather be in the know than in the dark.
"You're right, Redwave, it's odd indeed. Surely it can't be a coincidence that such tragedy would strike right after Coconutfall named Tigerpaw as his oracle. The Ocean's Reclaimed must be upset with him. Why else would they send those bugs and that boa?" Reedshark sounded very convincing as he spoke, concern etched into his expression. "I think it's brave of you to say what most of the clan is obviously thinking. If it's support you need then I'll gladly give it, just let me know how I can help." He looked to Stormsurf now and smiled, "honest."
————- ❀ ————- Littlefoam with Parrotcall calm falls @ Tealraven "Unless you'd like to stay?" "I can take you back to her, if you'd like."
Littlefoam was equally surprised as they talked over one another, and she snapped her head up to finally meet his blue eyes that she'd been avoiding. She stammered for a moment, not really giving a coherent sentence as he asked her to repeat herself. He had offered to take her back so she should take it, right? Sunchaser had to be looking for her by now, there was no way the scout didn't notice her absence. But it wasn't like she was completely lost somewhere. They were all at calm falls, if her friend really was that concerned then she was probably already looking for her.
In all honestly, Littlefoam really did want Parrotcall to stay. From what she could remember, the last time they had spent a flower night together was back when they were apprentices. When they had spent the whole time going over the list of herbs of their usage instead of hunting for a hibiscus like the rest of their denmates. Once again Littlefoam felt the chilling grip of anxiety, making it hard for her to speak. It would be easier to deflect what she said and take up Parrotcall's offer, but for once she desperately wanted to be brave. The small molly took a deep breath and made up her mind. Just for tonight she would be brave. At least until flower night was over, then things would just go back to normal anyways
"I said th-that," Littlefoam cringed, she hoped she wouldn't stutter. "I want to stay with you." She finally confessed after taking a moment to compose herself. While she still couldn't look him in the eye when she said it, the soft-spoken healer was still proud of herself. "Sunchaser should be able find us on her own. It might just be easier for her anyways."
————- ❀ ————- Pearlwave with Jacarandabloom calm falls @ Tealraven Was she just making a big deal out of this whole thing? No. Yes? Maybe. Whatever, it shouldn't matter what others thought about her. Pearlwave didn't care. Okay, she cared a little. But she and Jacarandabloom could be best friends if they wanted and it was no one else's business. So there, Redwave and Stormsurf could go-
"-hear anything I just said?" Huh?
"Huh?" Pearlwave squinted as Jacarandabloom's tail flitted back and forth across her vision, effectively pulling her out of her spiral. A wave of embarrassment started to wash over her. Had she really been that unresponsive that Jacarandabloom felt the need to get her attention like that? The signs seemed to point to yes. Flashing an apologetic smile, Pearlwave adjusted herself by flicking her front paws and rolling her shoulders, forcing her joints to relax. "I'm really, really sorry, Jacaranda. I honestly didn't hear a word you said. Was it super important? Oh gosh, I bet it was." The silver-blue hunter hung her head and mentally cursed at herself. The last thing she needed was the pale-furred molly thinking that she was being ignored.
"What did you say? I promise I'll listen this time," Pearlwave lifted her gaze. That hopeful grin of hers returned, but only at a fraction of what it was before.

Brightclaw »
Awe intermingled with nervousness, the molly still rather flustered from the whole ‘pretty’ conversation. On one paw she couldn’t believe Troutwhisker had found a hibiscus and it was now perched delicately against her ear, and on the other paw she was dumbfounded by the fact that the cream tabby thought of her as beautiful, even more so than the rare flower that now graced her cranium.
Brightclaw wasn’t even aware of her distant mind until Troutwhisker’s voice just grazed the edge of her consciousness. Her ear twitched as she thought, wondering what she was going to answer with. His question had been simple, yet the molly wasn’t sure if she was fine. A lot of emotions were running through her, an odd mix of all sorts of things jumbled up inside. Yet, at the same time, she was as fine as she ever was. The ginger scout shook her head. ”I’m just…surprised that there was a hibiscus, ya know? That’s…that’s not easy to do,” she mewed, voice hushed even as the sound of their Clanmates grew louder and louder with each step. By the tone of her voice it was clear she was still a little flustered, and the heat that seared underneath her fur was enough of a reminder for Brightclaw that the tom’s compliments had frazzled her.
Redwave »
Subtly had never been Redwave’s strong suit. In fact, he was brash, bold, brave even in his speech and dedication to not hold much, if anything, back. Vanillabloom had always told him to speak his mind and to never let some other cat take the words out of his mouth, and he stood true to that. Maybe he would hold back the entire truth to things here and there - as he was doing now - but he was rather open about things for the most part. This was no exception. Maybe it would be wise to ease his Clanmates into all of this, but sometimes coming right out and saying it was the better option. Redwave felt that with Reedshark this was the option to pick.
Satisfaction etched across the tom’s face as Reedshark replied, clearly stating his support to the cause. Redwave pleasantly chuffed. A fine scout such as Reedshark would do the cause well.
Briefly he looked over at Stormsurf, sure that there was a smugness to the expression on his visage. It had been Stormsurf that stressed the importance of scouts being on their side, and here one was, offering his support. ”Your help is beyond appreciated. In the coming moons we’ll have righted the wrongs that Coconutfall has plagued the Clan with.” He then turned his attention toward Stormsurf once more, curious as to what the healer would add.

Brightclaw »
The thought of finding her family and being with them sparked excitement in the molly, yet at the same time a twinge of reluctance kept her down rather than her springing forward in a charge to look for any of her family members. She liked the time she had spent with Troutwhisker and leaving him so soon after he had found a hibiscus for her felt off. She rolled her broad shoulders back, indecision flashing in her soft green eyes. ”He’s probably with Coralstep and I’d hate to barge in. Though….Aniselight might be with them too.” Her tail twitched back and forth, unsure as to what her decision was going to be. Showing her littermate and parents the hibiscus would surely delight them all, yet again, she enjoyed being here with Troutwhisker, and she had no idea when the next time she’d get to hang out with him would be.

A purr vibrated Brightclaw's throat gently at Troutwhisker's suggestion. She smiled, nodding her agreement. "That sounds good, And that way, if any of my family are around, they can find me and hang out!" It would probably be easier to do that than look for any of them anyway. No telling where Coppershore and Coralstep were, and Brightclaw could only imagine where Aniselight had gotten to. She wondered if Ripplepaw would be around as well, though her foster sister was more than likely hanging out with the other apprentices. Either way, Brightclaw would be more than happy to see any of them and to show off the flower that Troutwhisker had found for her.

He slowly laid down by the water, tail curling around himself as he looked up at the molly. He felt even smaller from this position"come relax"he said, motioning her to the empty space beside him

"Woah! That really looks like it'd be quite painful," he commented as he lowered his head to take a better look at Whitepaw's scar. Sure, his was very long, but her's looked very painful.
He shifted his gaze to Kiwipaw. "In my honest opinion, Kiwipaw, Kiwibug sounds really... neat. Short and simple. But I think you could also end up with Kiwileaf, or maybe even Kiwibird. I dunno, just some ideas."

Batpaw // with Jacarandabloom & Pearlwave ( Tealraven , 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 ) - Batpaw was visibly upset that these two boring cats didn't want to do something fun for once. He frowned hearing Jacarandabloom's dull tone. " Luckily I don't have a tail." the tom said under his breath quietly as he looked as his stub, a substitute for his tail. Noticing the scout's face he once again frowned, displaying his disappointment. " Why? Because it's fun, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that." Batpaw shot a glare at the molly before turning to Pearlwave. He remembered how eager she seemed earlier talking about hibiscus flowers and found it also slightly disappointing that she changed her mind so drastically. The small cat shrugged and sighed," Ripplepaw is only mooning after Tigerpaw, I'll be lucky if she pays me any attention." There was a hint of sadness in his voice from Batpaw feeling like he was being pushed out of the the two cat's conversation, but he didn't mind, adult cats would rather be with older cats rather than apprentices. Especially during Flower Night. " I guess I'll go find her," finally conceding and ready to leave, the fluffy cat got up," Have fun you two.". The cat let out a soft purr before leaving the older cats and off to find Ripplepaw or whatever cat was nearby to entertain himself for the night. ?? still open to ripple not paying bat any attention apparently since she is alone lmao

Brightclaw »
Brightclaw’s whiskers twitched with amusement at the sight of Troutwhisker laying down, amused at just how little he looked from where she stood. Much like her mother Coralstep the orange tabby was a rather large and bulky feline, easily towering over a good portion of her Clanmates. Aniselight and Coralstep were about the only cats that matched Brightclaw in height and bulk. ”You look so small,” she mewed, laughter in her words exposing that this wasn’t something to hurt the tom’s feelings.
Gently she lay down beside Troutwhisker, careful as to not take up too much space. She allowed her tail to drape down into the nearby water, letting the gentle ripples lap at her fur. Brightclaw breathed out, relaxing herself as she settled into a comfortable position, glad to have Troutwhisker’s companionship for the night.

with clan - open
Dread was a heavy stone lodged in his chest. Apprentice ceremonies had once been one of Coconutfall’s favorite parts of being the Clan’s oracle, but as of recently even the joy in that had been sapped from him. In the last few moons he had promoted a good deal of apprentices to a full position in their chosen profession, two of those cats being his youngest daughters - Lionpaw, who was now Lionfang, named after her fierce passion, and Whitepaw, who was now Whiteshark, named for her stubborn tenacity. Coconutfall had been proud of his daughters, offering them praise and affection, but neither had been receptive beyond the typical excitement and happiness any new warrior would have. And it hadn’t helped that the whole time Redwave had been staring him down, eyes sharper than fangs. There had been a darkness there that frightened Coconutfall. He thought back to the vision he had experienced of being taken under the water by a blood red wave, and as his son stared him down, the only thing that the brown tabby could think was that the Ocean was warning him of his very own flesh and blood. That had been enough to take all the excitement out of him.
Never in his life had he dreamed that something like this would happen - being afraid of his own kit. Whispers had been going around as of late, mere rumors - or that’s what Coconutfall kept telling himself - that a vast amount of his very own Clanmates were coming together under the leadership of Redwave. It was of no surprise to the tom that cats wanted him to step down, but to know this was something his very own son was doing… that hurt in a way Coconutfall had never felt before.
Truth be told, the oracle had contemplated stepping down on his own, but even he could see how foolish of a move that would be. Tigerpaw had yet to complete his training, so stepping down would only make way for even more chaos. Tigerpaw was eager with a hunger for knowledge, but learning how to be an oracle, learning how to decipher what the Ocean had to say, was no easy task. Tigerpaw had moons yet before earning his name, and Coconutfall was determined to continue leading the Clan until he knew he’d be leaving the Clan in secure paws.
With this in mind he pushed down all the doubts and insecurities fogging his mind. The brown tabby shook out his pelt as he pushed himself to his paws, and after a moment he stood outside of his den. With a deep breath to gather himself, he called out, ”Cats of HibiscusClan, please gather for a Clan meeting!”

A N I S E L I G H T with hyacinthpaw; mentions lilypool | camp @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 Aniselight's paws were tracing the now familiar path to the healers' den, her thoughts already on a certain calico tabby, when Coconutfall's summons stopped her in her tracks. Her ears twitched in irritation. She was going to pick up Hyacinthpaw for training, and the healers' den was on the way to the apprentices' den, so really, it's not like she would be going out of her way to pop in on Lilypool. There wasn't enough time to visit before the ceremony, though, so, with some reluctance, she headed straight for the apprentices' den instead. "Hyacinthpaw." Aniselight poked her head into the shadowed den. "Ceremony, then training. Let's get to it." She withdrew her head just as quickly and fixed her icy blue stare on the gathering crowd around Coconutfall, wondering what all the fuss was about.
W A V E C R E S T with hibiscusclan; mentions flickerdawn | camp @ open Wavecrest was sitting nearby when Coconutfall summoned the Clan, and so was among the first cats to gather around the Oracle. Skinkstripe was at the front, practically glowing with pride as her three kits lined up before Coconutfall, each impeccably groomed for the occasion. Murmurs of excitement eddied through the crowd. So it was to be an apprentice ceremony, then. Maybe this was it. Maybe today was the day Wavecrest would get an apprentice of his own! He couldn't resist glancing around for Flickerdawn, wondering if she was thinking the same. They'd both spent the last five moons trying to prove they were capable candidates for mentoring, and now it was time to see if their efforts had paid off.
S U N C H A S E R with littlefoam; mentions parrotcall | camp @ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 "Apprentice ceremony!" Sunchaser burst into the healers' den, eyes bright. She spotted a familiar black-and-white coat and bounded over to greet her, stopping just shy of crashing into her. "Littlefoam, Coconutfall just called a Clan meeting -- oh hey Parrotcall -- and I think it's for Skinkstripe's litter!" She stepped back in an attempt to give her friend space, but continued speaking at full volume, tail lashing. "I heard a rumor that two of them might be put on the healer track! Isn't that exciting? You could get an apprentice today! C'mon, let's go and see!" She paced a circle around the other molly and made for the den exit. She was pretty sure none of the kits were going to be scouts, but she could still be excited for the possibility of one of her friends or her brother getting a cute little 'paw.
