Yoko // ☾—ivy。˚⊹♪:¨ ·Yoko sighed a breath of relief as he saw Cassia get rid of the spider that was laying on his back, but he had chills all over his body knowing that Cassia let that dreaded arachnid crawl onto her paw. Yoko got up and turned his head back to see the mess he made from his panicking. All the dust, wood dust, and dirt on the ground was now on his fur. " No!!!", Yoko cried as his eyes looked at his paws, his stomach, and back revealing such dirty fur. His fur went from a striking white to a light fawn like color. " I hate having such disgusting fur.", snarled the angered tom to himself. Yoko then turned his attention to Cassia. "Spiders are gross and disgusting Cassia. They're horrid creatures with such creepy beady eyes! Plus their tiny fangs, oh how horrible they are. Such ugly abominations.", Yoko groaned as he softly rolled his eyes. " You act like you're not afraid of anything yourself! You're probably afraid of asking handsome toms, such as myself, for help. But I know, I'm the exception because when saw how cute I was, you had to ask for my help or else you'd never see another handsome tom like me again!", he purred with delight as he started cleaning his dirty fur.

( rob lucci's wife I don't wanna interrupt your Yoko x Cassia scene so we can have just Parrotcall and Batpaw run into Sunshine and Ebony. Or if that's too complicated they can just go back to camp and we can end it there ^^ )

PARROTCALL leaving gecko ravine / with batpaw
Parrotcall again chuckled at the younger cat's enthusiasm. He followed at a slower pace, both to keep from losing his grip on the flowers and to not overtake the apprentice in speed. He was content to let Batpaw lead and keep an eye out for danger from the rear. He surveyed the ravine in its many shades of green as they walked.
"Right," He meowed in response to Batpaw's warning as they breached the natural wind tunnel at the end of the ravine. It was breezy between those slopes on a good day. Today the gust of wind that ruffled Batpaw's dark fur was at the perfect height to catch Parrotcall right in the face. He carefully clamped his jaw shut, trying not to puncture the delicate petals or get them too soggy. A few flowers still came loose and twirled away behind him.
Parrotcall ducked his head against the wind. "Where to next?" He called, raising his voice to be heard over the distant thunder.
JACARANDABLOOM camp / with coconutfall He believes in me.
But is it true, what he said? Will the others follow? Jacarandabloom was among the youngest of the scouts. She'd worked hard to earn her reputation for being bold and decisive when others hesitated, but depending on who you asked, it wasn't always a good reputation to have. She seemed to draw as much ire as she did respect. I just won't choose to bring anyone with me who would question me, then.
"Of course. I will." The pale torbie said with conviction. Thunder rumbled overhead, echoed by the deep roar of the distant surf; both the ocean and the storm filled her chest and vibrated in her bones. It sent a thrill of adrenaline through her. It made the mission she was about to undertake feel even more momentous.
Jacarandabloom eyed Coconutfall suspiciously. "Are you sure you don't have any advice? There's nobody you'd recommend to take with me? This patrol could help you, as well, you know." Not that she cared. Obviously.

SUNCHASER returning to camp / with silentwave A small ember of triumph glowed in Sunchaser's chest at the tom's tiny, reluctant smile. Her whiskers twitched with delight. "I can do that!" She observed him stride forward with his jaws parted to taste the rain-soaked air. Each footfall was easy and confident; he prowled the jungle like a natural predator without even having to think or try hard.
Mimicking him, Sunchaser stalked off in the other direction, ears, eyes, and nose alert. She wasn't bad at hunting, but there was a reason she was a scout instead. It didn't come to her naturally they way it did for cats like Silentwave. The bad weather made it even harder, but she relished a challenge.
A tiny heartbeat thudded in Sunchaser's ears. The golden molly swiveled her head to the left, ears pricked. She crouched and slinked towards the warm, musky scent of a mouse. The little brown rodent was within sight when she accidentally brushed against a big-leafed plant whose branches were weighed down with rainwater. The rustling sound made the mouse bolt upright, its beady eyes bright with alarm. Cold raindrops trickled off of the leaves, sprinkling Sunchaser's shorthaired coat and sending a chill along her spine. She shivered involuntarily, alerting the mouse to her presence.
"Oops," she said in a loud whisper when her prey vanished into the undergrowth. She looked around to see if Silentwave had watched her mess up.

(btw i added that it smells burnt rn, not cause theres a fire happening, but because where ive noticed that before a thunderstorm happens, it smells really really bad as if rubber or wood has been burning, at least to me!) Batpaw // Tealraven" This storm seems to be progressing super quickly.". Batpaw lifted his snout in the air and took a whiff of the cold air " It smells like burnt trees. I dislike how it always smells like a fire right before a thunderstorm.", he mewed as he scrunched his nose up from the foul smell. " We're going to a take a short cut back to camp Parrotcall. I don't want to stay here any longer, especially since we have a chance of getting struck by lightning.", Batpaw said turning his fuzzy small head to face Parrotcall. Batpaw started to pick up his pace and started headed towards a direction that had a lot of cover from trees, as he didn't want to risk getting soaked if they ran out in the open. " I'm sure this is a quick way to get back camp! ", he yelped back to the healer as he started walking quickly towards the giant trees that swayed from the harsh howling wind.

CLIFFSTORM With - Skinkstripe, Horizonkit Location - Nursery Tag - Feathertalon Cliffstorm smiled as Horizonkit gambolled towards him, ending with an impressive leap to Cliffstorm's shoulder, then burrowing into his deep fur. Cliffstorm squirmed as the little figure tickled him, twitching his tiny whiskers. After resisting an urge to laugh for a few seconds, Cliffstorm found his efforts useless as he burst into a bout of laughter. "Get... off me... you cheeky... little kit!" Cliffstorm said between bouts of laughter.
His face pleading, he turned to Skinkstripe, who was currently peacefully devouring her fruit dove. "Please... get him off!" he said helplessly, collapsing on the floor with laughter. Who knew kits were so great at attcking cats? They should be on the battlefield!

with yoko rob lucci's wife Cassia tilted her head, a weird sense of sadness washing over her. "Are your looks really all you're confident about? I'm sure you could do much more if you let yourself try," she mewed. She found it depressing that Yoko seemed to only take pride in his fur; although Cassia would never admit it, it was very pretty and clean, but it shouldn't be the only thing he cared about. "I was also joking when I said the damsel in distress thing. Sorry," she muttered, laying down on her nest. She laid her head down on her paws, anticipating Yoko's answer. Maybe he'll agree and maybe I could teach him, or maybe he'll get defensive. You never know, she thought.

Yoko // ☾—ivy。˚⊹♪:¨ ·Yoko's eyes looked at Cassia with confusion at what the loner meant. Do..more..? Yoko blinked before swiping his paw over his ear. " My looks are the reason why I've only gotten this far.", Yoko said with a noticeable tone of irritation at himself for admitting such a truth like that. Yoko shook his pelt before following Cassia to the small nest she laid in earlier. He sat next to her and he gently pawed the loner's dark ear. " I know, I hoped you'd know I was joking earlier too." Yoko said with a faint smile. " You didn't admit I wasn't handsome though!", the tom teased as he stuck his tongue out. He sighed and laid down next to a sad looking Cassia. Yoko quickly took note of this and he started taking guilt in what he said earlier. He turned his head and his eyes were filled with guilt. " I hope I didn't hurt you Cassia.". " You're right though.", he mewed. " Maybe if I did try, I'd probably be more useful to both myself and you.", Yoko said quietly. " What I said earlier was also true, I'm only alive for my looks. I've noticed that and I simply took advantage of it and look where it got me now? I can barely fend for myself or feed myself without using the only thing I have worth going for me." Yoko shifted his gaze back to Cassia's sad green eyes before asking the molly, " Am I undesirable to you? Is that why my looks aren't working on you?" Yoko knew this was a question guaranteed to get a smack from Cassia, considering how mature she was compared to him.

with yoko rob lucci's wife Cassia looked away as Yoko mentioned his looks being the reason he got so far in life. "Cats are materialistic creatures," she concluded.
A tiny smile painted itself on the molly's face. "I guess neither of us take a joke very easily," she chuckled. "As for you being handsome, I'll keep that to myself," she purred. She'd never tell him but she did find him quite handsome. Not handsome enough to fill in other qualities, though; he needed to work on his hunting and fighting.
"You didn't hurt me, don't worry. I was worried I hurt you." Relief clouded her eyes, and she looked back at the loner. Her fur bristled as Yoko asked his last question.
"Undesirable?! I take everything back," she hissed, standing up. "Do you think every molly's only interest is how a tom looks?! If you didn't realize by now, mollies like myself are also interested in a tom's skills and smarts, as well as how nice he is and how he treats me, not just how well groomed his fur is or which colour his eyes are!" She slithered to the pile of items on top of the wooden contraption, hiding away in a corner beneath it. The darkness hid her furious glowing eyes and bristling fur badly; she was sure the tom could see how angry she was, and she liked that. "Until you get back to your senses, I'm not talking to you!"

Silentwave
with sunchaser Tealraven Silentwave's face held a sympathetic look. "Hey, it's aalright. We're not going to starve to death. If it makes you feel any better, I got angry and scared off all the fish near the shore."
His nose scrunched as he smelled something. "That's a lorikeet. I'll go follow it," he mewed, turning around to follow it. He closed his eyes, using his nose to "see". He was a natural born hunter, and with the training he received every day and during his apprenticeship, he was an expert when it came to catching prey. However, his fighting skills needed work.
He dropped into a hunter's crouch, stalking the lorikeet from behind. His paws seemed to be floating above the ground; he watched his every step. He nearly stepped on a twig, but he easily avoided it. He leaned back, leaping on the small creature and grasping it with his jaws. It wiggled for a bit in his firm grasp, but it eventually stopped and assumed a stiff position.

SEABREEZE With - Rookfall, Seabreeze Location - Healer Den Tag - Feathertalon Seabreeze reached the healer den with difficulty, the other two cats having gone at a pace she was uncomfortable with. The fierce wind was certainly making it harder; she had almost lost Lilypool and Rookfall in a whirlwind of dried brown leaves. It seemed like it had a long time since they had made the decision to head back to camp. She had a limp in her paw from a loose piece of bark that had shot by, hitting her paw. Trying not to place any weight on her drooping left paw, she replied Lilypool, "Thanks, Lilypool, but I'd prefer sorting them out with you, if you're fine with that. I just need to find something to heal my paw. Should I use lime? There's a bloody cut," She limped into the den, trying to search for something that would heal her paw. She didn't want to be patients like Turtlestream and Swiftsplash. She glanced at the two sleeping scouts. They had been so unlucky...

Sunshine ; 'Sunny'
With - [ Ebony ]
Location - [ Lost In HibiscusClan Territory]
It was rather disappointing to learn that the molly opposite him was a kittypet, in all honesty. The orange and white tom had been hoping to find himself in the company of a being who may be more... experienced in the ways of the forest. A moment later, he smirked with a sense of amusement; anyone he met in this forest was more experienced than he, even if they were a ktitypet.
Her offer of leading him back to her twolegs was tempting indeed. The rambunctious tom flicked his tail as he contemplated the idea of returning to twolegplace. After all, it had only been moments ago that he had wished he could retrace his pawsteps back... he turned his massive head back to glance over his shoulder, imagining his own trail. In his vivid imagination he envisioned the trees parting and the trail leading directly to twolegplace, to the scraggly form of his old friend, Bula. The scene was lit by a ray of light - the memory of the time he enjoyed in the past - and it was quite persuading. The image of Bula clawing his way into a dumpster and returning with rotten scraps immediately caused the scene of delight to crumble, falling in on itself, and leaving the past to be nothing but nostalgic rubble.
"You're very kind to offer," he looked back to Ebony with a warm, charming smile. "I think... I'll keep on trying to find my way in the forest here." From an outsiders perspective, it would be rather perplexing to understand the sudden shift in the tomcats demeanor. One moment he had been frigid and uncertain, now he appeared to straighten his posture and speak with a newfound confidence. Unbeknownst to the molly before him, Sunshine performed his ultimate character trait; the ability to use his imagination and storytelling to sway opinion. In this case, in his mind, he swayed his own opinion: he would rather stay in the forest as opposed to returning to twolegplace.
"In any case, it is lovely to meet you Ebony. My name is Sunshine - everyone calls me Sunny." He puffed his chest, which usually would be full and plump, but after being rather starved was now flat and hollow. "It seems like a storm is brewing... what's a little lovey like you doing out here alone?" He tilted his head quizzically.
Rookfall
With - [ Lilypool ; Seabreeze ]
Location - [ Healers Den ]
Perhaps it was the intoxicating scent of lime leaves that wafted endlessly into his nostrils or the simple trill of his heart, but Rookfall found himself struggling to turn golden gaze from the tabico molly as she passed him, pushing her way into the healers den. Before he followed, he let out a long, quivering breath through his nose. How long had he been holding it? Throughout the whole patrol? The familiar giddy feeling made his paws tingle as he recalled in his mind with flashing images the way Lilypool had been impressed and surprised by his knowledge, how she'd smile and laughed and looked at him with such warm green eyes. Pretty entering the healers den, he looked across camp towards the nursery, sure that Vanilliabloom would be inside to avoid the weather. Next time I see her I'll be sure to thank her again. He straightened, a smile now a permanent fixture upon his countenance, and shuffled his way inside the healers den.
His ears swiveled as Lilypool gave directions. Delicately, he bent his head down and placed the leaves atop the pile she had set down. Leaning back, he scuffled at the ground with a front paw, knowing that he soon alight from the den; his duty as a scout was over. He didn't want to get in the way of Lilypool or Seabreeze... yet he didn't particularly want to leave. Her voice sounded once more and Rookfall lifted his head to caftch her gaze, finding himself entranced by the light that gleamed from them. In conjunction with her sweet words, the raven-coloured tom was sure he may simply melt into the earth. For a moment there was a silence between them as he regained his composure, staring at her with warm eyes, content to admire her for a short time. Yet, he didn't want to be weird. Quickly, he grinned at her, broad with jovial energy, "I'm glad." It was the plain and honest truth.
In his experience, he would leave now. His paws shuffled again, knowing they should take him away from the den, but they were filled with uncertainty and the stubborn desire to stay put. "I-if you need to go on a patrol again, I'll be more than happy to go!" He blurted. "Tomorrow... or the day after... whenever you need a scout..." His words trailed somewhat, faltering with shyness. "Or if you need help in here? I'm sure you have plenty of capable help here but if you ever need someone else... I'll always be there." He could hardly bring himself to look at her eyes, feeling much too embarrassed. The last thing he wanted to do was be pushy or overbearing.
[ i know this reply came after swallowtails but i'm too sleepy to rewrite it; lets just imagine that rookfall said this and then seabreeze says her part. that way it's like a lil' moment they have and then they kind of get pulled apart by responsibilities i suppose Cx ]
Featherfoot
With - [ Wavecrest, Shellsong, Archwhisker ]
Location - [ Beach ]
Satisfaction curled over and crashed like a wave within her chest as Featherfoot lifted her head, a wriggling silver and black angelfish clamped in her maw. She turned tail and bounded a few paces out of the cold ocean water until her paws hit dense wet sand. It was then that she laid down the fish and swiftly killed it, stepping back, she admired the prey. That's makes two! Featherfoot had always preferred fishing over the traditional forest hunting, which may be surprising to some. Fishing required precision and patience; neither of which appeared to come naturally to the grey tabby molly. However, she simply loved the water whether it was the falls or the ocean. To hunt in a forest one often needed expert tracking and stalking skills whereas fishing required a hunter to wait for the prey to come to them. In her mind, it seemed provided much for satisfaction when she was able to sink her teeth into a fish rather than her claws into a bird.
Glancing to her left, she watched as Shellsong waited - still as a rock - in the shallows of the water. Not far from the tortoiseshell molly was Archwhisker, their designated scout, who clearly took pride in his job as he took this time to nap, curled up in the sand.
Turning to her right, Featherfoot managed to pick the perfect moment to turn her attention towards Wavecrest. She stifled a laugh as she watched the tom flail after his run-in with a wave and she bounded towards him, covering the distance between them in mere heartbeats. "Who would have thought that Wavecrest would be beaten by his own namesake?" She laughed light-heartedly as she came to front. Unfortunately for the tom, she would always certainly make a joke in any situation that she found even slightly amusing. Despite the teasing words, she pressed forward and leaned her side against the sopping flank of Wavecrest in an attempt to steady him. With a nudge of her shoulder, she moved towards more stable sands. "You okay, though?" She meowed, her tone no longer teasing, instead it took a swift turn into genuine kindness.
sorry swallowtail, i know i gotta do drizzlefur still but i gotta go to bed and this was all i could get done Cx

Ebonywith sunny aether "Well, it is nice to meet you, Sunny," she chirped happily, blinking briefly. "I'm actually looking for some cats... It's a long story."
Her stomach churned as she remembered the horrid cries of her children as she walked away from them. She wanted to be there for them more than anything, so here she was, looking for them. Something in her told her they wouldn't want to see her, but she convinced herself otherwise. She was afraid, afraid they truly wouldn't want to see her. Maybe I'll see them one day, she pondered sadly, them and their father. Hope settled into her mind; nothing was impossible. She knew how to find the forest- she'd just have to watch out for any Clan cats, except one, of course. Fondness made its way to her mind. If only I could see him one more time...
She tried to remember the path back home in her head. It was hard; a bit too hard for her. She hoped she'd be able to find the way back.

PARROTCALL hibiscusclan territory / with batpaw
The air did indeed seem to sizzle around them. In the brief moments of calm between gusts of wind, Parrotcall could feel his fur prickling and standing on end, only to be blown flat against his body each time the breeze picked up. He drew his ears back against his head. "Steady now," he murmured to himself.
The healer had not expected the storm to progress so quickly, either. At first he had thought it was just a passing squall. But the longer they stayed out here, the greater the odds grew that they could veer off-course into dangerous territory. The rain and wind made it hard to smell much of anything. He shot Batpaw a worried look when the apprentice's back was turned. "I can lead us back any time you wish," he offered, though his words were mostly lost in the absolute racket the trees above them were making.
Branches bent and creaked and crashed together in the wind. Parrotcall strained his ears, struggling to identify any other noises above the sounds of the storm. Anything could easily sneak up on the two cats while they were so distracted. I hope that any predators lurking out there have enough sense to hunker down and stay in their dens until the worst of the storm has passed.
SUNCHASER returning to camp / with silentwave "Yeah, yeah." Sunchaser rose out of her hunting crouch and flicked her ears and shoulders back, giving herself a vigorous shake as though brushing off her failure. She faced Silentwave with another brilliant grin plastered upon her muzzle, but this one didn't quite reach her eyes. "Aw, I'm fine. I've never been very good at hunting. Or anything, really, except for combat," she admitted with a cheerful shrug.
She fell silent and watched intently as the hunter turned away from her. Her own muscles grew tense with anticipation. The tom easily skirted a branch that she probably would've stepped on, his paws moving smoothly and soundlessly over the jungle floor. In a swift, fluid motion, he leaped forward and took out his prey with as much ease as Sunchaser could land a right hook on an opponent.
"Ooh, good one!" Sunchaser congratulated him. "You hunters are so awesome! You make it look so easy." There was a wistful note in her meow.

WAVECREST palm coast beach / with featherfoot, shellsong, & archwhisker
A cheerful voice hailed him from behind as one of the other cats on patrol joined him. He recognized her teasing tone without having to look up. Featherfoot. With a sigh, he shook his head and blinked several times to disperse the stinging water that blurred his vision. Droplets of seawater glittered on his whiskers. The brisk onshore breeze chilled his soaked fur and caused him to shiver even as his face grew hotter and hotter.
"Yes, yes, teehee," grumbled Wavecrest. "So clever of you. Such rapier wit." He lurched forward and felt the molly's warm flank press against his to support his weight on the treacherous sand. What am I, a newborn kit just wobbling out of the nursery for the first time? He scowled. "I can walk on my own, thanks." If there was anything worse than messing up on the job in front of other cats, it was needing help while doing his job in front of other cats. Beyond that, he'd distracted a Clanmate from doing her duty, as well. He tried not to lean on Featherfoot too much as they returned to the dry upper part of the beach.
As soon as his paws were on more solid ground he pulled away from her. "I'm fine, you needn't trouble yourself over me," Wavecrest insisted. He felt a touch shamed by the genuine concern in her mew. He cast a gloomy look back toward the ocean. In his line of sight were Shellsong, who herself was so focused on her quarry she hadn't noticed his tumble, thank the Ocean, and Archwhisker, helpfully curled up on the sand with his chin resting on his paws and snoozing away.
Wavecrest rolled his eyes. "Grand. At least one of us is trying to do their job." He flicked his light blue gaze back to the grey tabby. "I don't suppose you've managed to catch anything, Featherfoot?"

SilentwaveSilentwave blinked; that was as close as he was getting to smiling with prey in his mouth. "Thank you."
His ears twitched briefly. "Scouts make fighting look so easy as well," he mumbled, his words slightly blurred due to the prey he was carrying. "I'm a very poor fighter. Hunting is my specialty, but when it comes to fighting, I'm like a mouse plotting against a cat," he chuckled, the mental image his remark made appearing excpetionally funny to him.

Yoko // ☾—ivy。˚⊹♪:¨ ·Yoko smiled after getting the reassurance from Cassia herself that she wasn't mad at all. A sigh of relief soon followed after. That was until he heard Cassia's last comment. At that moment, his heart snapped in halves. Yoko certainly knew he was back at square one with Cassia from a simple dumb comment. " Cassia, I'm-.Look I-.", Yoko choked on his words thinking of what to say, but he soon groaned knowing that there was no point since she wished not to speak to him anyways. Yoko's eyes reflected sadness and guilt. Yoko then walked to the darkest part of the room to hide in from the shame he earned. Although he wanted to disappear, he felt like being here at this moment was enough to push him to leave even more. He now knew that he wasn't smart or quick or strong enough to be useful to any other cat. Oh, how the loner wished the storm passed quickly, so that he could leave Cassia and just continue what he used to do before he ran into the patrol and Cassia.

Batpaw // TealravenBatpaw couldn't hear what Parrotcall was meowing about because of the howling wind and the leaves threshing against each other. Batpaw's big dark eyes squinted, " What did you say Parrotcall?!", he yelped as loud as he can, although he knew that his words would be lost from the extreme weather happening around them. Batpaw continued walking straight and the apprentice stopped his movements to figure out where to go next. A loud snapping noise came from the sky and a dark tree branch fell a few feet away from the two cats. Batpaw's eyes opened with his shocked and his heart rate raised quickly. His fur bristled with the thought of how it could have landed on top of them if they continued walking. " Parrotcall! I think we need to get out of here quickly!", Batpaw meowed as loud as his voice would let him , so that Parrotcall could hear him through the harsh wind.

Coconutfall »
This was something he didn’t want pushed onto him, but there was no way he could avoid it. Jacarandabloom was scrutinizing him, forcing him to give an answer. His tail twitched uncomfortably as he glanced away from his daughter, face scrunching in thought. What if he made the wrong suggestion? What if he picked a cat that wouldn’t work well with Jacarandabloom? What if he picked a cat that would undermine her authority or not be responsible enough to be part of such an important patrol? An unconscious huff slipped from him as he sat there, pondering.
Again his thoughts drifted toward Sandheart. The ginger molly was more than capable and could handle this patrol easily, but how would Jacarandabloom feel about the scout tagging along? And how would Sandheart feel about it in turn? He supposed he could always flip gears and suggest bringing Sandheart’s littermate Mintsong. That might work… She was good friends with Vanillabloom, and as far as Coconutfall knew she had no ill feelings toward their kits, unless his image had recently ruined that. The possibility of Mintsong no longer respecting his first litter didn’t set right with him. That was something he would keep an eye on now that he had thought about it, and should she show any signs of bitterness toward his kits then he would say something. But all that was a task for another day.
With a shake of his head Coconutfall snapped back to what was happening now. ”I’d abstain from taking young apprentices. If you take any, I’d suggest Creekpaw or Gulfpaw, even both if you’d like. If they do well we might have naming ceremonies to look forward to.” The two tomcats were at the very end of their training and were turning into fine cats. The Clan would surely rejoice in welcoming them as full fledged members. ”Bring a few experienced scouts and hunters with you, but this is also a chance for the younger ones to show their skills. They will be the Clan’s future after all.” This was all information that Jacarandabloom was sure to have already thought of, but it was all the oracle could give. He dare not speak any other names than the two he had brought up, not wanting to create unneeded hostility in a patrol that needed to be in sync with one another.
Skinkstripe »
Between bites Skinkstripe would look up to see the “battle” between Cliffstorm and Horizonkit. She was curious to see who would win, and from the looks of it so far her son was in the lead. Her tail twitched with amusement. Perhaps the white furred kit had gained her fighting prowess. He would need moons of training to get to her skill and level, but if he kept it up then one day he’d make a great scout. If he wanted to be a scout, that was. Skinkstripe would never force any of her kits into a role they didn’t want or wasn’t happy with. She had noticed Horizonkit expressing interest in healing, especially when Whalespirit had time to come visit her and their kits. If Horizonkit ever decided that scouting was in his future, though, she’d be just as supportive. Whatever her kits wanted with their life she would be happy with.
Her thoughts were cut short when Cliffstorm called out to her. Swallowing her most recent bite of dove, the ruddy molly gave no motion of moving from her spot. Instead she let out a snort. ”Can you not defend yourself from a kit? I see no reason to help you with your battle.” Skinkstripe would rouse herself and help if something were to go wrong, but for now she was content where she was, pleased to see her son enjoying himself even while a storm went on just outside camp.
As she leaned down to take another bite of the dove, a small weight pressed itself up against her flank. She turned her head sharply, fur beginning to bristle, but calmed herself when she noticed it was only Dovekit. Eyes watery from sleep and fur a mess, it was clear to the queen that the little tom had just woken from his nap and gave it all he had to stumble his way to her. Skinkstripe purred as she whisked him closer with her tail, not missing a beat as she started smoothing out his pelt.

Lilypool »
There was a part of Lilypool that wanted nothing more than to just stay there and soak in Rookfall’s company for as long as she could. Something in her didn’t want the black tomcat to leave, but she knew that he had to, knew that they needed to part ways. She had chores that still needed tending, and the healer knew that Rookfall had his own tasks to see to as well. Surely he would want to check in on his littermate and younger sister as well. It was selfish of her, she decided, to want him to stick around. There were so many things that needed to be done, so many things that had gone wrong lately that needed her attention, but the largest part of her longed to spend more time with him.
A soft, shaky breath slipped off her tongue. It was followed by a faint mrrrrow of laughter, her tail curling into the air as the scout spoke. He was so endearing, charming even. Lilypool couldn’t help but find his faltering heartwarming. ”Thank you, Rookfall. I’ll be sure to seek you out when I need a scout with me, especially since we’ve been needing more healer patrols than usual lately.” Between the bugs and the boa attacks, the healers had been rather busy. It wasn’t easy trying to find a cure for something that the cats had never seen before. This wasn’t their usual batch of sprained ankles or broken claws, this was an actual medical emergency that needed to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Herbs were needed more than ever, and they could only store so much into the den at one given time.
There was more she could have said, and more that she wanted to say, but Seabreeze caught her attention at the mention of a cut; healer instinct immediately kicked in, and before she could even speak, she had padded over toward the other healer, trying to get a good look at the molly’s injury. ”Garlic and gavilana,” she suggested quickly. ”Using lime would work, but since we need it for flea prevention right now, it’s best to look into other herbs with the same uses. Why don’t I make a poultice for you. It’s best you sit down and give the cut a quick clean. Get any grit or grass out of it before it’s covered.” A look over her shoulder had her gaze back on Rookfall. Again her heart fluttered at the sight of the black tomcat, but now she needed to be there for an injured cat. Her focus needed to be Seabreeze. ”I’ll see you…tomorrow maybe?” Sheepishly her voice wavered, yet there was an undertone of hope there, wishful that he would have time to see her again by the next day.

CLIFFSTORM & HORIZONKIT With - Skinkstripe Location - nursery Tag - Feathertalon Cliffstorm was still laughing uncontrollably as he glared at the stationary Skinkstripe. She was clearly not going to move a whisker. He straightened his face with difficulty, and looking innocent, replied, "My mentor never taught me to fight kits." He gazed at Skinkstripe, his eyes staring into hers, trying his best to keep a straight face. Then, giving in to Horizonkit's relentless tickling, burst into giggles, despite his best efforts. He reached a paw to swat Horizonkit away Horizonkit popped his head out at his mother's praise. "I'm winning?" he asked, wide-eyed, looking proud, but then his face clouded, turning into a frown. "But I don't want to be a scout. I want to be a healer." He crossed his arms defiantly, as if Skinkstripe was forcing him to become a scout. Cliffstorm gazed fondly at the furious kit, then, before Horizonkit could turn to see his expression, quickly changed his expression to look fairly surprised, then said, "You don't want to be a scout? I've been beaten by a healer?" he asked, as if shocked for words and couldn't bear the thought. He bugged his eyes out playfully, wondering if Horizonkit knew he was playing with him.

By the time Yoko had reached the corner he was now settled in, Cassia's anger had already subsided. Her ears straightened, assuming their usual position, and her fur flattened against her skin. She still felt that the tom's remark was rude, but if what he had said earlier was true then it made perfect sense why he thought his looks were enough to woo her. If he only took pride in his looks as he had suggested earlier, then Cassia even felt a bit bad for him. It was clear no cat had ever praised his hunting or fighting skills, nor helped him with them, and that this was probably his way of covering up his deteriorating self esteem. With a pang of guilt and regret she realized all she had done so far was put him down.
After some time, the calico decided to speak. "So? Have you anything to say for yourself?"
She wasn't going to let him know she felt sort of bad, but she didn't want to seem eternally angry either.

Yoko // ☾—ivy。˚⊹♪:¨ ·Yoko's fur felt hot from the embarrassment he had laid on himself earlier. Yoko's mind was invaded by intrusive thoughts, which resurfaced after years of efforts to push them deep down inside his head so that he'd forget how little he knew about the world or survival. I...I need to just relax. The white tom's long ears twitched hearing Cassia's voice. His heart rate began to eventually slow down after Cassia broke the long cold silence that sat between them for a while. His eyes avoided looking towards the direction where Cassia spoke. It was silent for another minute as the sad loner hesitated to speak. " I don't know what to say besides I'm sorry. ", he softly said to the calico. " My question was distasteful, however. I won't ask anything like that again. ", Yoko continued with a tone that showed that he was still sad. " Mollies only liked me for my looks, so I figured that's the only thing I should take pride in." Yoko looked down at his paws " It may not seem like it, but it's a bit frustrating, but it's the only thing that has brought me here alive and well. ", the white tom said as he dipped his narrow white head. His narrow eyes continued to focus on his white paws, refusing to still look at Cassia. Shame still flooded his head as he awaited the she-cat's answer.

in healer's den
"Oh, they're definitely contagious," Algaewing said nonchalantly, not noticing Kiwipaw's caution. "Mostly by touch, but I've noticed regular cleaning of moss nests tend to reduce risk of bugs."
She pulled together all five herbs, selecting a leaf or collection of needles from each. "You're certainly correct in that, Kiwipaw. For a proper experiment, we'll need a good sample size. Age, medical history, fitness - any physical attribute may affect a cat's response to medication. Not to mention possible allergies..."
For a moment she pondered the logistics of gathering said size. Plus she would need a control group to boot. She could consider... sigh... asking her father to make some announcement and help her gather some clan cats, but Algaewing hasn't really been on speaking terms with Coconutfall lately.
"That can be in the future, however," she continued, "For now, let's specify the parameters of the experiment. What are all the possible combinations...?"
(thinking of ways for neem... maybe a cat comes in with a cold? or they help out butterflypaw and whitepaw?)
butterflypaw at gecko ravine
Butterflypaw's face scrunched up, both from lingering guilt and from the rain sliding down her face. "I was the one who pushed you to fight that snake! I was the one who distracted you! I -" She lowered her head. "I got myself stuck in the thorns for no good reason."
She pressed cobweb after cobweb, watching the blood drench the swath of spider silk. It seemed to be slowing, at least. Imagine what would have happened if you weren't here. She blinked hard. "I suppose... we're lucky I'm a healer's apprentice," she choked out, helping Whitepaw back on her feet once more.
Butterflypaw felt her pelt warm at Whitepaw's quiet admission. "I'd go anywhere with you," she returned in more of a squeak than a mew, face carefully turned towards camp. "Come on, we'll need to get to camp fast. It's raining and infection's the worst."
duskflight with redwave in camp
Ah, is this pride? Duskflight smiled warmly as he walked side by side with Redwave, pleased beyond words. At the very least, he's gotten Redwave to interact with the clan again...
mintsong in camp
As Mintsong watched her sister desperately apologize, desperately appeal to her, shoulders slumped in the oncoming onslaught of rain, a turbulent brew of emotion stewed in her chest. They felt like they were choking her, burning her from the inside out, so painful she didn't want to peel it apart and deal with it properly, deal with the contradictory feelings of wanting to reconcile and wanting to cut ties right then and there. Mintsong scrounged for a feeling she knew to cling to, and there it was.
Bitter anger. She knew what to do with that.
"You never wanted to, but you did anyway," Mintsong mewed, quiet and hard. "You ruined... everything." Her chest heaved, rain slithering down her cheeks. How she'd looked up to her sister, how she'd trusted her, how Sandheart seemed to shine and glow. But how Sandheart was just that - a cat, paws muddied with mistakes. Mintsong felt like a fool.
"How could you? And hurt Vanillabloom, of all cats? She's the last cat who deserved to be betrayed like that!" Mintsong stomped the earth. "And it wasn't a fly of the moment thing either! Not some accident you can wave away! This kind of thing... is a bundle of things, happening over and over, an active choice each time! Even now you're purring away at that - that birdbrain's side!"
Her heart roared in her ears. "You're not sorry! You're only sorry you got caught!"

Skinkstripe »
It was clear to Skinkstripe that all of this was just one big show that Cliffstorm was putting on and that he wasn’t actually serious about it, but the queen couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the tomcat. ”That’s because there shouldn’t be a need to fight kits, let alone lose to one.” Her tone was dry yet the expression on her face conveyed the amusement she was truly feeling.
That amusement faded to confused concern when her son’s demeanor changed. Skinkstripe shook her head, calling out to Horizonkit, ”No cat is making you become a scout. Just because you’re winning doesn’t mean you can’t be a healer.” The last thing Skinkstripe wanted was for her son to believe he was being forced into a role he didn’t want. Even if for some reason she didn’t want him to follow the path of a healer it was ultimately his choice to make the decision. In five more moons Horizonkit and his siblings would stand before the Clan and make the decision of what they want to be. Her kits could all pick different paths and Skinkstripe would still be proud, and she was certain Whalespirit would be as well. ”It’s your choice to make, and if you want to be a healer still when you’re six moons old, then you’ll start training as one.” All this talk about Horizonkit wanting to be a healer did make her wonder about her other kits. They still had five moons to figure it out, but she was curious, just as she had been when Creekpaw and Gulfpaw had been kits. Now they were almost ready to receive their full names, and Skinkstripe couldn’t be happier.
”Can I play too?” Dovekit’s little voice chirped beside Skinkstripe. She looked over at the kit, his eyes still full of sleep and fur a mess, but he was up on his paws and staring toward his brother and Cliffstorm longingly.
Shifting a bit to give Dovekit a better view, Skinkstripe motioned for the two’s attention. ”Dovekit wants to play,” she told the two, gesturing toward her ruddy furred son. Whitepaw »
As Butterflypaw worked on the injury and got the bleeding under control, Whitepaw watched her through narrowed mix-matched eyes. The pain was subsiding, still throbbing, but it was much easier for the tabby and white molly to handle it, a lot easier to ignore. It wouldn’t stop hurting until numbing herbs were used, but Whitepaw could handle the sting. She was a brave and resilient scout after all, and a scout’s duty was to look danger right in the face and accept the pain that would come.
The one thing she couldn’t stand by and just accept was Butterflypaw putting the blame on herself. Whitepaw shook her head, looking the other molly in the eyes. ”I wanted to kill the boa even before you brought it up. You’re not to blame here.” While there was a hint of softness in her voice, it was also stern. Whitepaw wasn’t going to sit around and let the calico place the fault on herself.
With her wound now wrapped in cobweb the molly was able to stagger back onto her paws. She pressed against Butterflypaw, conscious of how much more muscle she had compared to the healer apprentice. She needed help keeping her balance, but she also didn’t want to ruin her companion’s chances of getting them back to camp. The proximity of Butterflypaw right against her was enough to set fire to the inside of her chest. Fortunately she was too busy focusing on getting back to camp rather than paying mind to the heat.
Rain splashed onto Whitepaw as thunder rolled across the sky. Her ears twitched. ”Most everybody’s bound to be in camp by now.” Between that and her new injury, the two apprentices had no chance of sneaking back into camp.

Redwave »
Thoughts were swarming inside Redwave’s mind. They were bees and his head was the hive. What Duskflight had spoken sparked something inside him, ignited a fire that needed to burn. It was just like how it had been with Archwhisker. Redwave just needed a second opinion, another cat to agree with his words and help guide him down the path he was already taking.
The tom flexed his claws into the ground as he walked. Rain was beginning to fall, trees swaying roughly in the wind, darkness shrouding the land. No words were exchanged between him and Duskflight as the two returned to camp, but no words were needed. Redwave knew what he needed to do now, just as Duskflight knew what needed to be done.
