Drizzlefur
With - [ Hootpaw, Tutlestream, Risingbrook ]
Location - [ Gecko Ravine ]
Without a word, Drizzlefur acknowledged Risingbrook's appearance with a flick of her ears and a appreciative blink. Having the two of them made it much easier to pull Turtlestream to safety.
Hootpaw sunk her fangs into the rigid muscles of the scaly creatures sides. She felt it whip and many times she had almost been thrown off balance but its violent thrashing. Ospreyfeather's adamant offense at the boas front kept it distracted enough that Hootpaw was able to remain unscathed. The black molly felt her nose curl as the scent of blood assaulted her sense and she leaned back, watching with a disgusted sense of curiosity as the large reptile writhed in what she imagined was pain. Hootpaw leapt away from the creature, ducking to avoid being whipped by its strong tail, and she panted as it began it's retreat. "We did it!" She uttered, breathless.
"Hootpaw!" The long-haired molly did not get long to revel in the joy of success. She dashed over to Drizzlefur, who had called her name.
Drizzlefur rose from Turtlestream long enough to instruct her sister: "Run to camp and find any healer you can. Risingbrook and I will start taking Turtlestream back to camp, but a healer needs to be ready to treat her. Go - run!"
Without further instruction, Hootpaw nodded and vaulted into the undergrowth like a shadow.
"Are you okay, Ospreyfeather?" Drizzlefur called to the tom before looking to Risingbrook with concern, "And you? Are you okay?" She understood it was their mother who had been attacked; there was no doubt they would be frightened for her safety.Sandheart
With - [ Coconutfall, Mintsong]
Location - [ Camp ]
The muscles along Sandheart's spine twitched with a surge of uncharacteristic anger. To be rude and snarky towards herself or Coconutfall she could handle... to do that towards Coconutfall's first litter? To do that to her kits? They had nothing to do with all that had happened! It wasn't their fault! Sandheart spent a moment taking a deep breath to steady her emotions, which had started flying about like fireworks inside her mind. She understood Mintsong's newfound antipathy towards her; Sandheart truly understood. There were days that even she considered her actions immoral and deceitful. However, she had come to accept many moons ago that her heart yearned and she - like Coconutfall - deserved that happiness.
Don't let her get to you. Sandheart raised her chin, matching the green eyes of her littermate; their green colour almost identical to her own. "I am proud of my son," she fought to keep her voice steady, "but that's not because he is the neophyte. We all know that the ocean can be unpredictable - there is no reason why Tigerpaw was chosen over Redwave, Algaewing, or Lilypool. Even Whitepaw and Lionpaw, too." Now her head drooped somewhat, sadness flickering in the green depths of her stare, "No matter how the ocean has determined their path, I'm proud of them all. I would hope you would be too." She verily regretted the loss of relationship she suffered with her sister, that became apparent in that moment. She cleared her throat to aid in regaining her composure.
"I think there are more pressing issues to be concerned with right now. Coconutfall, shall we go speak to the Ocean now?" She turned her head to her tabby mate, willing him to comply with her attempt at escaping the tense conversation.

Vanillabloom »
Over the last few days Vanillabloom felt like she had kept her composure rather well. She had been visibly shocked when Coconutfall had announced to the Clan that he had had kits with Sandheart, but she had stayed put during that meeting, listening to everything her former mate had to say. She had then been civil when she spoke to the oracle after the meeting. The interaction had been short, but she had ended their relationship at that time, and that had been no easy task. Though it had been hard, she had remained calm and level. Her conversation with Sandheart earlier had been friendly even. Through it all, the white molly had kept herself together, but it was the rejection from her own son that finally made the queen crumble.
Vanillabloom had witnessed Redwave’s temper many times before. It had never been directed toward her, but she could recall many times in which her son snapped at another cat or anything that he deemed as annoying. She could even fondly recall the day when her son, only three moons old, had tripped over a rock and had completely lost it. It had taken Vanillabloom some time to get him to calm down after that. So while she was no stranger to his temper, she had never felt it towards herself, and that hadn’t even been near as bad as his snappish attitude could get. But it had hurt. It still hurt. Even now, moments later, Vanillabloom couldn’t get herself to perk back up.
Was she losing her son? Coconutfall’s announcement had awoken something in Redwave that Vanillabloom was genuinely worried about, and everytime she had tried to talk to her son about it he had been out of camp or busy with hunter duties. This had been the first time she had been able to actually speak to him, yet it hadn’t gone the way she had wanted. She had hoped to ease some of his fury, yet that clearly had not been the case.
The white molly let out a sigh. So many things were going wrong, not just with her family, but with every cat in the Clan, and she felt powerless.
Her ears twitched when the sound of pawsteps coming her way caught her attention. Her name was called as she turned to see who was headed her way. Quickly she pulled herself out of her slump, getting rid of her slouch as her worried look turned into a friendly smile. ”Hello, Rookfall. It’s nice to see you, and the swallow,” she commented with a nod toward the dead bird. What he said was true - so much was happening to the Clan right now, but they couldn’t forget to eat. A rumble echoed in her stomach, agreeing. ”I’d love to share an evening meal with you.” Coconutfall »
Anger was not an emotion that Coconutfall felt often. He wasn’t so dumb to not realize that Mintsong was purposefully prodding at his and Sandheart’s nerves, egging them on in hopes that they’d snap. It was working. The oracle could feel angry heat rushing up into his chest. His face twisted with distaste as he eyed the molly, a cat he once considered a friend. Now she was spewing lies about his kits and harming Sandheart with her words. At least she had the gall to say such things directly to them, but that made Coconutfall wonder what sort of words she spoke about them when they weren’t around.
Sandheart spoke next, and Coconutfall allowed himself to fall silent as his mate spoke up. Out of instinct he moved back, inching closer to the ginger molly. It was still foriegn to him to be so close to her out in the public eye, but he was sure he’d eventually get used to it. She was his public mate now, the cat that every Clanmate knew he was with. They loved each other unconditionally, and had loved one another from the start, there should not be any shame in that. Yet…as he looked at Sandheart, he couldn’t help but feel a twist of regret. He was the reason why she was in this predicament. He was the reason for the sisters falling out. Sandheart played a part in it too, their relationship was very much so based on a consensual and mutual foundation, but if Coconutfall had just listened to the Ocean, if he had kept to the Ocean’s wishes and had never allowed himself to get close to Sandheart again…
No. That could have never happened. There was no way that Coconutfall could have avoided Sandheart his entire life. And had the Ocean wanted him to stay away from her and continue on this path with Vanillabloom instead, then why had it picked Tigerpaw over the three kits he had prior? To him that was enough. The Ocean had a connection with Tigerpaw. Algaewing, Redwave, and Lilypool’s existences were meant to be just as much as Lionpaw’s, Tigerpaw’s, and Whitepaw’s, but it had still picked Tigerpaw. That alone had to mean more than enough to him and to the Clan.
Coconutfall cast a sharp gaze toward Mintsong. ”Think about me as you will, but my kits have done nothing wrong. Do not fault them just because I’m their father. My actions are not theirs.” He hoped that even Mintsong could see the reason in his words, but he would give her no more of his time. Instead he turned back to Sandheart with a nod. ”It’s getting late. If we go now, we’ll still have just enough time.” Coconutfall didn’t need much time with the Ocean. If it was going to speak to him then it would, but he would like to have the last hour of daylight on their side.

Tigerpaw »
You got this, Tigerpaw, you can win this, he told himself over and over again as he pushed himself more and more in hopes of catching up to Ripplepaw, yet every time he thought he was closing the distance, the black molly seemed to pick up speed. Not one to lose hope Tigerpaw continued running. He dug his now unsheathed claws into the ground, hoping to propel himself forward faster in a last ditch effort to catch up, but before he knew it the forest thinned out and turned to peaceful beach land. Ripplepaw was still in the lead, and Tigerpaw knew now he was going to be the loser.
That didn’t stop him from sprinting the rest of the way. Once there he skidded to a halt, paws sliding through the coarse sand as an out-of-breath laugh escaped his open jaws. ”Ripplepaw!” He gasped. ”You won!” Catching his balance he fell silent, gasping for air to refill his lungs. Blue eyes were bright and looking right at Ripplepaw, amusement dancing in their depths. He was happy that she had won. He wouldn’t deny that he was a little bummed out by being the loser, but he had enjoyed himself, and that’s what truly mattered.
The neophyte stood there in silence for a while longer. His eyes drifted away from Ripplepaw and off toward the ocean. His tail twitched in thought. That body of water was the reason for him being in the position he was now. It was the Ocean that had whispered in his father’s ear, telling him to pick Tigerpaw as his successor. It felt unreal as he stared out at the vast expanse of water. Something so serene and beautiful that could also be deadly didn’t seem like it could exist, and yet, he was staring right at it.
Tigerpaw gingerly took a step forward. ”Hey, Ripplepaw…” He trailed off, voice quiet as he looked further out beyond the ocean, where sea and sky met. ”Could you show me how to fish?” Something was drawing him to the water. A connection was being drawn. He still wanted to hunt, but perhaps instead of going after land animals, Ripplepaw would be willing to get her paws wet and show him how to go after fish instead. Lilypool »
Water droplets spraying on her caught Lilypool by surprise. She jumped, wet fur attempting to bristle in a startled manner. A shocked squeak soon turned into bubbling laughter when she realized what had happened, and with a dramatic huff she shoved into her sister, manner just as playful as it had been in the water. ”That was evil,” she teased.
Lilypool stepped away from Algaewing to shake out her pelt. Water fell from her soaked figure like rain. The shake left her fur spiking outward, turning her into a tabico pufferfish. She was still soaked to the bone, but that didn’t matter to her right now. Fun was to be had, and now flowers were to be found.
Keeping her littermate’s knowledge in mind, Lilypool headed toward a path in the rocks that leaned more left. Thick foliage decorated the area around the water, but all the healer saw was green. ”Nothing so far,” she called out, stepping away from the rocky ground and more into the brush. Even when she tried to scent anything out all she got was a nose and mouthful of various other flora along with a hint of lorikeet. It was somewhat disheartening to be reminded that their Clan was named after a flower that was actually quite rare. Calm Falls was one of the few places the sacred hibiscus flower could be found, and even sometimes they were hidden away, not allowing any feline to lay eyes upon them.

Rookfall
With - [ Vanillabloom ]
Location - [ Camp ]
There was such sadness to the depths of Vanillablooms mismatched green-blue gaze. Even as she perked and turned her attention towards him, Rookfall could sense an ever-growing distance from the queen. Rookfall could not experience what Vanillabloom currently felt, nor could he imagine the turmoil that her kits must feel right now, but he knew one thing: they were still his clanmates and deserved to be treated as such. I wonder how many times someone has asked her about the events... she must be tired of such gossiping by now. Rookfall decided that instead of discussing current events, he would focus on other topics; ones that had been on his mind.
Smiling warmly, Rookfall sat down beside the molly, "Thank you for keeping me company!" He chirped. He began plucking at the feathered creature between his paws, preparing it for the perfect bite. As he did so, spoke between each mouthful of feathers. "You were a healer, right?" One of his earliest memories as a kit - only two or three moons old - was being treated for a stomach illness by Vanillabloom. He didn't exactly recall the events of the time, but he did remember feeling exhausted from retching, and Vanillabloom's soothing words and healing medicines. "I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about that time..." He almost seemed embarrassed as he edged into asking the question. "I've just wondered what it must be like... to be a healer... it seems to be something that requires a lot of skill and dedication..."
His yellow eyes focused on the prey. As he let his words trail out, he grasped a final mouthful of feathers and placed them by his side for use later in the counselors nests. "You have the first bite," he nudged the bird to Vanillabloom and looked at her finally after speaking his shy question. Truthfully, he had no interest in being a healer himself. However, due to recent events, he wanted to understand what it meant to be a healer. He wanted to understand the dedication to the craft, to be familiar with what may draw a cat to walk that path.

Vanillabloom »
For a second there Vanillabloom couldn't stop herself from wondering what exact questions Rookfall would be asking. The Clan was in turmoil what with everything happening, and Vanillabloom could only guess as to what her company would bring up. Would he want to talk about Coconutfall? Would he bring up Swiftsplash and his injuries? Or would he be asking the molly her opinions about the Ocean and why it had picked Tigerpaw over her own three kits? The options there seemed limitless, stretching as far and wide as the Ocean itself. Mentally she prepared herself for whatever the black tomcat threw her way, steeling her nerves and swallowing down the pain she still felt inside her chest. She was ready for whatever Rookfall had to say.
Or so she thought she was.
Visible surprise crossed her visage when he brought up healing. That was something she had not guessed she'd be talking about, but as the surprise dwindled, Vanillabloom relaxed. Muscles eased back into a relaxed state, a soothing feeling washing over her as she allowed herself to unwind. This was something she could talk about without holding anything back.
The queen couldn't stop herself from laughing ever so slightly, whiskers twitching. Rookfall's demeanor had changed. He seemed bashful. This piqued the molly's curiosity. Not only was she curious as to why he was asking such questions, but now she was curious as to why he was acting embarrassed to do as much. "I'd love to tell you about it," she replied smoothly. This brought up a memory she had with Rookfall, back when he had been Rookkit. The poor kit had fallen ill with a stomach ailment. Rookkit had been rather sickly, but Vanillabloom had been determined to help the poor tom. Fortunately her time and effort had been worth it or Rookfall would not be sitting down beside her today. Thinking even more on it, he had been one of her last patients before she had found out she was carrying Coconutfall's first litter. Not too long after that she had moved to the nursery, finding a newfound love of caring for kits and other queens making the change to motherhood. Vanillabloom still loved healing, but there was just something about being the one to help other queens that called to Vanillabloom.
Him asking these questions had the molly wondering if maybe he was figuring out where his true path lie in life. It was not unheard of for cats to train in one profession and then, seasons later, realize they aren't truly happy with where they are and change paths. It was extremely uncommon, but Vanillabloom had heard stories of it happening. If Rookfall was going through this then she would be more than happy to help him out. "You need a very well developed memory and a compassion to help others. Healers also need to be strong emotionally and mentally. They are the ones who can bring a cat back from the brink of death, and that isn't something every cat can handle when it comes down to it." There had been a few times when Vanillabloom witnessed a young apprentice, eager to become a healer, back out of that duty once the job got too intense and switch to becoming a scout or hunter. Not every cat who had an interest in herbs could handle everything a healer's job detailed. "It has its rough moments, but I'm sure scouting isn't always so easy, either," she brought up simply. It was there that she went quiet. This was to allow Rookfall his own interjections, and it gave Vanillabloom the time to take the first bite of their shared meal.

Rookfall
With - [ Vanillabloom ]
Location - [ Camp ]
Rookfall tilted his head thoughtfully. His ears were perked, listening intently to each word that Vanillabloom spoke while his yellow eyes rounded with wonder. It seemed there was much he hadn't considered about healing. From his perspective, he knew that healers were important. They provided herbs to the ill and aid to the injured, that was a simple fact, however he hadn't thought about how healers were the last link between a cat and the ocean. For a healer to ever fail would result in intense heartbreak - perhaps it would be something that a healer themselves could never emotionally recover from. In all his time he had seen various cats grow, live, and die. Yet, he'd never been directly responsible for them. So long as he scouted with a patrol, he'd maintained his duties. It seemed that the responsibilities of a healer never rested.
He smiled sheepishly at her mention of scouting, "Sometimes I think scouting is too easy in comparison." His bushy tail flicked behind his body as he mused, "I don't even hunt for the clan; I just watch the hunters do their work. And I know that scouting is important too! Without scouts, others wouldn't have protection when they leave camp." His whiskers twitched as he considered his own role. Being a scout had always been his purpose. His own father had been a scout, from the moment that Rookfall could understand, he knew that he wanted to be a scout. He felt fulfilled when he was able to protect his clanmates and bring them peace of mind - he liked that others could rely on him.
"Out of curiosity," he caught her gaze again, "where are the best places for collecting herbs? Like, er, if I was a healer, where would I want to go for the best herbs?" Again, there was a nagging feeling of bashfulness as he inquired. "And what would those herbs be? Or - uh - I suppose, what herbs do you want to make sure you always have? The most important herbs?" He knew why he was asking and it made it feel like a foolish kit. He wanted to be impress someone with his knowledge. As he thought about a situation where he would offer to scout for a healer and suggest the best location for the most important herb in an attempt to appear knowledgeable and dazzling, he felt his coat burn with embarrassment. Oh... I could never do that... didn't it seem like he would be trying too hard? Regardless, his question had been asked, and he waited patiently for the response.
rookfall: on a quest to understand healing in order to better relate to his love interest everyone around him: "aww that cute, rookfall wants to change profession" also, i'm off to bed now! got a big work day tomorrow so won't be on much :c

Vanillabloom »
"I could never be a scout," admitted Vanillabloom once she had swallowed her bite of bird. She gently pushed the meal toward Rookfall so that he could take a portion. "Then again, I've never been interested in battle." More often than not a scout's job was just that, scouting, but they were the cats the Clan turned to when danger encroached. They were the cats that would be called upon to chase out the boa that had attacked Swiftsplash. They protected their Clanmates when healers or hunters needed to provide for their Clan outside the safety of camp. They protected their Clan, and that was a huge job. It was something Vanillabloom could never do herself. She much preferred the life of a healer, or now, the life of a queen. She was forever grateful to those who took the path of scout, but Vanillabloom knew she could never do that.
Once more she wondered if this was about Rookfall potentially changing his career. Her bobbed tail twiched in thought. Rookfall as a healer would be an odd sight, but if this was what the Ocean was calling him to do, then she'd support him. While she wouldn't be the cat called upon to mentor him in the ways of healing, the Clan had a wide variety of choices. Perhaps one of her own daughters would be his mentor. She entertained that thought, amused at imagining the sight of Algaewing or Lilypool taking on the role of mentor to a cat some moons older than they were.
"A healer always wants to look deep in the forest or near the coast for herbs. Gecko Ravine is a fine spot for herbs. I would always keep an eye out for basil if you're in the forest." It also provided the Clan with a rich hunting ground, though Vanillabloom doubted there would be much of anything in that particular stretch of land what with an aggressive boa out there. "Palm Coast is another area to search. Aloe is common there, but mint or lemongrass is a must to gather if there's enough." All herbs were important, but in Vanillabloom's training she had been taught that there always needed to be a supply of basil, mint, and lemongrass. Those three herbs had multiple uses for injuries and ailments that were rather common, so always having those around in the healers' den was a must.

Geckotail Geckotail flattened her ears, hiding her anger away into the back of her head. Whalespirit hadn't done anything wrong, and she shouldn't be one to yell at him because she had her own problems. "Swiftsplash was bitten by a boa," she explained grimly, "and Saltwhisker and Seabreeze are apparently all by themselves."
The elderly molly frowned upon the sight of a much younger cat then herself so gravely injured. Her rage seemed to have subsided for now, but she knew it won't be surpressed for long. Licking her chest fur in embarrassment, she stared back at Whalespirit, her tail tip twitching lightly, only one thing on her mind. Her claws were sharp, but not as sharp as her tongue; she knew she'd have to either confront her fellow counselors and persuade them, or she'd have to help Coconutfall by herself.

Swiftsplash and Saltwhisker
The young healer's eyes widened. Algaewing, Lilypool and Seabreeze had never told him about any sort of bugs living on boas. Maybe they didn't know about them either?
"N-no, I don't think I've seen them on myself," he stammered, frantically checking his limbs for any sign of the small black speckles. "I'll check, though. Thank you, Basiltail," muttered Saltwhisker, his eyes suddenly clouded with curiousity. "Do you have any info on these bugs? Any sort of behaviour to report? Anything special, in general?"
Whilst he spoke his stomache twisted. Another problem for the Clan, he realized with a pang of anger. But, he corrected quickly, it's better I learn about these bugs from Basiltail then from a sick, half-dead cat. His mind whirled with questions; he's bound to find these critters on Swiftsplash's body, and he's going to investigate them with the other healers. He has learned how to remove ticks, but he wasn't sure if he could use the same method on the black creatures.

Ripplepaw
The black she-cat smiled, her ocean-like eyes glimmering with excitement. She chuckled, eyes locked onto the water beneath them. "Ofcourse I could teach you," she purred, briefly planning out what she was going to say. "From what Specklepool has told me, there are two ways to hunt fish. The first one, and the easier one, is to crouch near shallow water, and keep your reflection away from it," she explained, demonstrating, her black figure expertly hunched over the crystal clear water. "You should then scan the water thouroughly; keep your eyes on it, and don't let anything distract you. Once you've found yourself a target, you'll follow it, quietly, stalking it from side to side. When you feel the timing is right, scoop the fish out of the water," she said, sharp fangs showing as she grinned widely. Hanging out with Tigerpaw felt great, and she hoped she wouldn't be too much of a burden if she asked him to hunt together more often.
"Here, I'll demonstrate," she mumbled, eyes suddenly locked onto the golden-and-white body of a plump butterflyfish. Her target swept through the water, its colourful shape leaning towards the left side of the water. She hastily followed it, making sure she was on her tiptoes, and that her reflection wasn't seen in the water before her. After this cycle repeated an uncertain amount of times, the blue-eyed molly striked at the butterflyfish, scooping its body into her delicate paws and quickly transferring it into her jaws. The fish squirmed in her mouth, but her jaws remained firmly gripped around its scaly form. After a few heartbeats, it stopped squirming, and its stiff build lay stiff in her mouth.
"And that's how you catch a fish," she stated proudly, dropping her catch on the sand behind her. "The second way is a bit complicated, but we could try if the sun spares us an hour or so. You'd have to dive into the water and grip the fish with your teeth; I've heard apprentices rarely manage to master that technique before their warrior ceremony," she rambled, subsequently looking at Tigerpaw with shining encouragement in her eyes. She suddenly wished every night was like this; just her and Tigerpaw, having fun. Her ears twitched impatiently; she couldn't wait to see what the tabby tom had in store for her.

Tigerpaw »
A sense of relief washed over him when Ripplepaw agreed to take him down to the ocean. His eyes returned back to the body of water, and as his companion explained to him what she knew from her mentor, he started heading down the beach. Never once did his eyes leave the sea, something drawing him in to come closer and closer. He stopped once at the edge, the water's tide rising and falling, lapping at his paws until they were soaked. It wasn't long until Ripplepaw was there nearby. A moment longer did he stare out into the ocean. It was hard to look away, but he managed it, glancing over to where his fellow apprentice was as she demonstrated to him how to fish.
Awe opened his eyes wide. "Whoah..." He breathed, not having expected Ripplepaw to catch anything, or at least not catch anything so soon and so smoothly. She made fishing look incredibly easy. Tigerpaw looked down at his paws. He flexed his claws in and out of the sand, watching the ocean take the particles with it out into the deeper water. Could he do something like that so easily with his own paws? Before becoming the Clan's neophyte he had wanted to follow the path of a hunter, so surely that meant he had what it took, but he had no skill, little training. All he had was a curious mind and a flame to learn. Hopefully that would be all it took.
Determined now to learn everything he could and then even catch a fish before heading back to camp, Tigerpaw stood higher on his paws. Chest puffed and eyes ablaze, he nodded sharply. "I want to try that," he told Ripplepaw confidently. Even if most cats never even mastered that technique, he wanted to attempt it. Maybe he'd be a natural, or maybe he'd be a complete failure, but either way, he wanted to be as close to the Ocean as possible, and diving into its depths sounded about as close as he could ever get to it.

Risingbrookwith Drizzlefur and Hootpaw - aether, Turtlestream and Ospreyfeather - me
Risingbrook pulled at Turtlestream. Why did she have to be so heavy? Panting, he continued to grapple with the sheer weight of Turtlestream. He was on the verge of giving up, but seeing his mother needing urgent medical help kept him fired up and pushing on. I wish Cliffstorm or Seabreeze was here. Risingbrook thought of the burly tom and the lithe she-cat. They would be so much help. He sighed. He and Ospreyfeather were almost useless in this situation. It would be so much easier if his other two litter mates were around. Suddenly, he noticed Hootpaw preparing to bite down on the boa. He held his breath in great excitement, just seconds before Hootpaw's sharp teeth slammed down on the boa's muscular figure. His expression was one of pure joy as he saw the snake start retreating. Pumping a paw in the air, he felt like whooping for joy. The boa was gone! He glared at the boa with deep hatred. That boa would better watch out the next time Risingbrook saw it. He was surprised as Drizzlefur asked if he was okay. He hadn't done any fighting, after all. He nodded. "I'm fine. I' more worried about Ospreyfeather and Hootpaw." He glanced at his apprentice carefully. If Hootpaw was hurt, it would be all his fault. He should have helped her! Risingbrook heaved a sigh of relief as he saw Hootpaw mostly unscathed. He turned his gaze to his brother. He, too seemed fine. It looked like it was the boa who had sustained the most injuries. "Hootpaw, could you run back and get a healer. I need Ospreyfeather to help pull Turtlestream back to camp." He hoped his apprentice would listen to him.

Ospreyfeatherwith Drizzlefur and Hootpaw - aether, Risingbrook and Turtlestream - me
Ospreyfeather came out of his angry trance as the boa shrank back at Hootpaw's bite, grinning with satisfaction. Giving the retreating bow one last paw swipe, he straightened up, triumphant. He looked at Hootpaw gratefully. "Thanks for the help. I couldn't have done it myself," he said. He looked a little worried. "You're okay, aren't you?" He was relieved as he saw no injuries on the young she-cat. He turned to Risingbrook and Drizzlefur, saying, "I'm fine. We should really get Turtlestream back to camp." He was relieved as Risingbrook took charge, asking him to help pull Turtlestream back to camp. He carefully helped to move Turtlestream from the pool of snake blood, making sure not to hurt her.

Whalespiritwith Geckotail - ivyeyess
Whalespirit looked shocked. "On their own? I knew I should have come back earlier. I thought Algaewing or Lilypool would be here!" Whalespirit was filled with regret. He had thought the older healers were there! Seabreeze and Saltwhisker had barely received much mentoring, considering that he and Vanillabloom had to mentor two apprentices each after Coastdawn became a counsellor. "Excuse me, but I think I should go and help out." After saying this, the old healer bounded off to help the two younger healers.

Rookfall
With - [ Vanillabloom ]
Location - [ Camp ]
Engaged and interested, Rookfall nodded faintly to express that he was listening as Vanillabloom spoke. At the very least, it was useful for him to be aware of these herbs and locations; perhaps one day he would be needed to fetch them in an emergency. The chances seemed faint when he considered how many medicine cats the clan had. It seemed that between them all, their herb supply and management of the ill would likely not become so drastic as to rely on Rookfall to gather herbs.
Shifting forward, Rookfall bent to take a thoughtful bite from the prey, enjoying the flavours as Vanillabloom finished her explanation. He swallowed the mouthful and nudged the prey back to Vanillabloom, speaking as he did so. "Do you think sometime you could show me these herbs?" His tone was tentatively hopeful, "So that if I ever saw them, I would be able to recognise them?" He smiled sheepishly, tipping his head, "I understand if you are busy though! I've just been... curious lately, I guess."
Having this knowledge would not make Rookfall more appealing; that was something he easily concluded. However, the young tom had no other idea on how he could approach Lilypool naturally without first relating to what she did. It wasn't like he could just go and... well... talk to her! That was much too nerve-wrecking, even for the friendly tom! He wanted to approach this differently - to show that he was smart and capable, someone that could be worthy of her time.
Drizzlefur
With - [ Hootpaw, Tutlestream, Risingbrook ]
Location - [ Gecko Ravine ]
After Hootpaw had fled towards camp in a frazzled tumbleweed of black fur, Drizzlefur stepped back to allow Ospreyfeather and Risingbrook move their injured mother. "You'll be okay, Turtlestream," Drizzlefur mumbled; aware that the older molly was unconscious. Yet, she figured that somewhere in her sleeping mind she would be able to listen.
Moving as fast as her legs would take her, Hootpaw gasped for each breath, speeding through the undergrowth at a pace she'd never achieved before in her short life. It was interesting how swiftly a day could day. One moment, she had been stalking a mouse in the depths of a frilly fern. The next, she'd been battling with a boa. No one is going to believe how cool I was! She thought, grinning to herself despite the burning muscles that ached in her legs.
It took her some time before reaching camp due to the distance between Gecko Ravine and camp, and when she made it she could hardly articulate through all her panting. One sluggish foot after the other, she stepped foot in the camp.
"Turtlestream! ... Snake! ... Hurt!... Gecko Ravine!" She utter between breathless gasps, hoping someone near would be able to translate and take action.

Whalespirit with Hootpaw- aether [/i]
Whalespirit jumped up as Hootpaw’s mew rang across camp. Whalespirit’s face turned to an expression of pure panic. Turtlestream, hurt? He changes course mid-run, heading straight for the den entrance. Seabreeze and Saltwhisker were going to have to manage on their own. His heart was beating hard as horrible thoughts raced through his mind. Quickly dropping by the healers den to pick up a mouthful of anise and cobwebs, he leapt of to the camp entrance, quickly asking Hootpaw to take him to Turtlestream.

Ripplepaw Ripplepaw's blue eyes widened in surprise; she didn't expect the young tom to be so confident in himself so quickly- and she was glad she managed to let the best of his abilities pour into the clear water. She giggled, a warm joy spreading across her body. The black molly was suddenly struck with an idea; she'd give Tigerpaw a challenge.
"You won't try it- we will," she mrrowed, satisfaction clear in her gaze as she spoke, "and afterwards we'll have a fishing competition!"
The sleek-furred apprentice hoped she hadn't discouraged him too much; she was aware of how fast she was and how quickly she could catch prey, but, although she'd never admit it, she was a bit scared of Tigerpaw's fighting capability; she admired it. She was an extremely poor fighter, and if she was attacked by a boa, there was no doubt she'd be down in a few heartbeats. She reckoned she'd have to ask Specklepool to show her a few moves- or, anything that could benefit her, as both of the cats were hunters, afterall.
"Alright then," she purred, "how about you try first?" teased the apprentice, challenge glittering in her ocean-like eyes. In all honesty, all she wanted was to see Tigerpaw swimming. She'd always wondered how good he was in water, because to her, his build seemed fit for wading into it. Eyes firmly locked onto the tabby tom before her, her eyes narrowed in amusement. Tigerpaw was an intense cat, it seemed, and he was willing to prove it.

Vanillabloom »
A warm, knowing smile crossed Vanillabloom's visage. Right now Rookfall was giving no other indications as to why he was so curious about herbs and their locations, so the white molly was left to believe that he was starting to question his life as a scout. He must have found something appealing as a healer, so rather than take his skills and hone them into the path of a hunter, he had decided to try out herbs and healing. He would have a lot to learn, but Vanillabloom could tell that he was already on the right path. Rookfall would make a fine healer in time.
The molly nodded in response between her bite of the woodswallow. Once finished she again pushed the bird back to Rookfall, swiping a tongue over her jaws. "I have all the time I could possibly have right now. There are no kits to look after, so I've been finding things around camp to busy myself with. Teaching you about herbs will help keep me from getting bored." Her whiskers twitched in excited amusement. It would be fun to be an unofficial mentor to the tom. "How about this - anytime you aren't called to patrol I'll request for you to be my scout to go out of camp. Then I can show you where to look for herbs and where they grow. Does that work with you?" She would understand if it didn't, and she was more than willing to change her idea around so that it fit the tomcat's schedule better. If Rookfall was genuinely curious on learning, then Vanillabloom was serious about training him, and she'd be willing to go along with whatever worked the best for him.
It was then that a blur of black exploded into camp. Vanillabloom felt her fur rise, bristling out in surprise. Now what was going on, she wondered. Jaw tight and mismatched eyes locked on the frazzled form of Hootpaw, Vanillabloom listened, flattening her ears when it was announced, albeit broken and breathless by Rookfall's youngest sister, that another boa attack had occurred. Fortunately Whalespirit was nearby and jumped into action, but should it come down to it Vanillabloom would step forward and help as well.

Tigerpaw »
Tigerpaw's ears perked forward at the mention of a fishing competition. He looked out toward the ocean and then back to Ripplepaw, eyes wide, body quivering. He doubted he'd be able to win considering he had never really fished before and Ripplepaw had already proven a capable fisher, but this wasn't something to back down from. He was determined to at least try.
The tabby tom stepped out a bit further into the water. He glanced down at its crystal clear surface, watching as it lapped at his paws and up his legs. It felt so nice against his fur, looked so serene. It was where he belonged. It was where his ancestors had come from. Without the Ocean he wouldn't be here right now. He had never gone swimming in the Ocean before, his only experiences with swimming had been in the Calm Falls on days where Sandheart had been able to corral her three kits up and take them to the shallow freshwater. Swimming in the Ocean was sure to be different, but Tigerpaw was ready. He was meant for this.
A deep breath. And then, with a simple nod of acknowledgement toward Ripplepaw, he bounded forward through the water until he was just deep enough that he could submerge his entire body. He gave one final leap and then let himself go, falling through the air until a splash! echoed in his ears. Before he knew it his entire view changed. The world around him went oddly muffled, the sounds of water rushing over him. Tigerpaw fell limp for a second, letting the current gently sweep him around. Eventually he took back control, striking out with his back legs to kick himself forward and back toward the surface. Tigerpaw felt light, like he weighed nothing, and the sensation was magical, but for as much as he wanted to stay underneath the waves, he could already feel his lungs aching for air. He propelled himself forward until his head emerged through the surface; instantly he was met with the loud roar of the world, and a loud gasp came from him as he drew in a deep breath of air.
Rather than head straight back to the shore, he stayed where he was, just able to put his feet on the bottom. "That...that was...amazing!" He called out to Ripplepaw in short bouts of breath. He was beaming, his smile as bright as the sun itself. Tigerpaw hadn't been under long, and he hadn't even thought to look for fish, but he would next time. Next time was all about a fishing competition, after all.

Ripplepaw
Ripplepaw grinned, her smile nearly as bright as Tigerpaw's. She was glad he shared her enthusiasm when it comes to swimming and diving. She stepped into the clear water, splashes echoing around her lithe body. The black molly slid through the water to stand next to the neophyte, tiptoing as she did so. Without a warning, she lowered her head and dived into the crystal clear water.
The muffled noises of nearby creatures swimming away followed her into the depths of the Ocean. Her paws clawed through the water expertly, and she slowly but surely opened her blue eyes to see the beauty that is the rock bottom of the water that lifted her ancestors to these very beaches so many moons ago. She spotted a pretty transparent rock; it seemed polished and it was a beautiful shade of green. It seemed like something Twolegs would leave behind, and it reminded her of a smooth version of the material used on the see-through holes in Twoleg dens.
She picked up the seaweed green stone, her jaws gripping around it. She wasn't quite sure what it was or what to do with it, but she knew she liked shiny and bright things; she decided she'd hide it somewhere until she found a use for it. For now, she wanted to focus on the fishing competition, but not just yet- she wanted to swim a little while longer.
A teasing glimmer spread throughout her eyes. I'll win this, she thought.

Tigerpaw »
The smile stayed on his face for a while longer. He watched as Ripplepaw stepped deeper into the water before she gracefully slid in. Tigerpaw stayed above even after she had dived in, catching his breath still from his first dive. "This is amazing," he whispered to himself just before he followed suit and dove right back in.
Immediately he was surrounded by the sounds of the ocean, muffled and soft as it was. Water rushed over him as he pulled himself through the current. Luckily he already knew how to swim, learning from his days as a kit in Calm Falls. The Ocean was somewhat different, but he was able to catch on rather quickly. Again he was astounded by the serenity of it all, how quiet and peaceful it all seemed down here. He looked around, trying to focus on finding fish to hunt. At first there wasn't anything of interest, but soon enough he spotted what looked to be a fish darting around some nearby coral. Intrigued he started that way, but not having any actual swimming training left him needing breath more often. He stopped halfway through to emerge from the water, taking in a few breaths. As he recuperated, he looked around the waves, wondering if Ripplepaw was still under or if she had already caught anything.

Ripplepaw The blue-eyed apprentice pushed her soaked body out of the depths of the Ocean, for she could no longer hold her breath. Even though she desperately needed some air, she didn't gasp since there was a shiny rock in settled firmly in her jaws.
"Look what I found," she mewed, eyes shining like the stone in her firm grip. She carefully nestled it into her paws, turning it lightly so she could see it reflect the sun from different angles. Its color amazed her; it reminded her of someone's eyes, but she couldn't quite remember who's. "I don't know what it is, but it's very pretty," she murmured, gaze fixed on the small rock. Perhaps Specklepool knew what it was, or Tigerpaw could give her an answer? Whatever it may be, she loved it. She reckoned it'd be a great memory from this event- her first time sneaking out.
"It reminds me of someone," she whispered, head burning with the wish to remember. She closed her eyes, and a semi-vivid picture enveloped her mind.
A ginger tom leaned down to look at her. She felt tiny; perhpas this was a memory from her kithood?
The tom had striking green eyes, similar to that of the shiny stone. A smile spread across his face as he gazed at Ripplepaw, and he nuzzled a warm presence brushing against her fur. His mouth opened and closed as he gazed at the cat above her; maybe he was speaking to the cat? He leaned forward to lick the black bundle on the head, and walked a few steps away only to turn around and murmur something; a goodbye, perhaps. He left not long after.
Her eyes shot open. Was that her father?
Just wanted to clear up that I know powers aren't allowed This is a memory from when she was a few moons old and half-awake, so she doesn't remember it too vivdly. The color of the stone gave her nostalgia, so she remembered.

Tigerpaw »
He wanted to dive back in and try his paw at fishing, but before he had the chance he noticed Ripplepaw wading his way. He looked over toward her, a smile on his face. Excitement still coursed through his veins, and he wanted to thank the apprentice for talking him into coming out here, but his words fell silent upon his tongue when his companion had something to show him.
A small green rock, sea-green it was. Tigerpaw looked down at it curiously. "That's beautiful," he murmured, tail twitching in thought as he looked it over longer. "I wonder if there's anymore out there." He looked toward the deeper area of the water. The rock Ripplepaw had looked so unique and so special, but surely it had a family out there in the depths, a place to call its own. Why it had washed all the way up here, Tigerpaw had no idea, but now Ripplepaw had it. The Ocean had to have given it to her for a reason. "It reminds you of somebody?" He asked softly. Maybe that was why. The Ocean was trying to tell her something about some other cat that was important to Ripplepaw.
With this thought in mind he stepped out a bit further into the Ocean. Again it was calling to him, wanting him to get as close to it as he could. He took a breath, about to dive in once more to try his luck at catching a fish, but just as he was about to dive in he was stopped when he noticed the water rippling around him, tremoring. At first all he felt was confusion. He hadn't moved to make such a commotion in the water. He couldn't question it anymore before he was tossed aside, stumbling to catch his footing. He slid on some nearby pebbles, unable to keep himself from falling into the water. He tried to call out to Ripplepaw, but all he got was a mouthful of tangy salt water as he was thrown in. He was fortunate enough to scramble back up before it was too late, gasping as he pulled himself back up.
Fear froze him to the core when he was finally able to blink the water out of his eyes.
Raging right toward the beach was a massive wave.
Tigerpaw turned to run, once again attempting to call out to Ripplepaw, but again, it was no use. Before he could even do or say anything he was plummeted by the water. Tons of water crashed over him, forcing him back down with no way of getting back up. He was stuck; he could tell he was weighted down. Panic arose in his chest, burning, scorching. He wasn't going to be able to get back to the surface in time. The Ocean roared above him, no longer peaceful. Had he done something wrong? Was this punishment for sneaking out of camp? Oh, he shouldn't have snuck out, he should have forced him and Ripplepaw to stay in camp. There was no way she had made it away from the wave in time to escape; somewhere out there she was being tossed and pulled by the erupting currents just as he was. The only solace he got was that at least they'd be going back to the Ocean together.
Before closing his eyes and giving up to the Ocean, he glanced upward. No longer did the water run in blues and grays, but rather it was a bright red, scarlet almost. Tigerpaw was too battered to care, though instinct coursed fear through his veins at the sight of the blood red water.
Painted in a hue of red, Tigerpaw closed his eyes, waiting for the Ocean to take him. If this was it, then there wasn't much he could do about it.
...
Just like that, his eyes opened, and there he was, standing where he had been moments before beside Ripplepaw.
Tigerpaw gasped, the fur bristling along his spine, his tail three times it size. He spun around in the water, blue eyes wide in disbelief and confusion. "...What? ...How...?" He turned to Ripplepaw, jaw agape. She looked completely fine. Soaked from swimming, but otherwise unscathed and simply looking at her pebble with nostalgia in her eyes. Tigerpaw shook his head. "What...?" He shook his head, unable to say anything more than that. Heart racing against his chest he stood there, shocked, his brain scrambling to get a grip on what had just happened - or, what just hadn't happened.
