Morningpaw nodded as Owling spoke, realizing how lucky they were to live on the island. They didn’t have to worry about starving, which was a good thing, but sometimes they take things for granted. “Okay,” she mewed to the brown tom. She smiled once the river was in her view, something about the forest and river made her smile. Morningpaw looked around her and Owlwing every so often, making sure nothing was in the shadows watching them as if they were prey.
Mara weaved her body under Frostpaw’s at Henry’s signal, and waited for the black tom to take the lead. They followed the tom closely, and she could tell he was worn out by the way he was walking. There was a part of her that was thankful Henry decided to help them, they wouldn’t have made it out of that yard alive.
Duskpaw felt his legs get weak as he looked at his sister, questioning himself how he had let this happen. Once again he put trust in Azreal and this is how she repays him, by trying to kill her own daughter. He ignored the anger, his sister needed him more than anything else right now. He helplessly watched the silver cat and the black cat pick her up, and took the lead without saying a word. The only thing he could think of was to take her to Isletclan, if she wasn’t going to make it she deserves to be with their family. And if there was a chance of her making it, their best bet would be to get Owlwing and Morningpaw. Duskpaw led the way towards the forest, he didn’t want to be in plain view. He kept his head down as they reached the forest and river rather quickly, but when he looked up he saw two faint bodies walking towards them. He squinted his eyes, relief pumping through his body as he recognized who it was. Duskpaw looked back to check on the cats carrying Frostpaw and broke into a run toward the Isletclan cats. “Owlwing! Morningpaw! Help please!” He desperately cried as he ran towards them.

Owlwing was glad that she understood wht he said. Many young cats would just shrug it off without a thought. When he caught the scent of unknown cats, he was quick to get into a defensive pose, hiding Morningpaw behind him as he stared down the three cats before he blinked in realization. Taking in everything before him, he looked to Morningpaw. Go get cobwebs and start trying to stop the bleeding. I'll go get herbs." He ordered, he then looked to Duskpaw. "Lay her down somewhere safe, no moving her once she is laid so make sure it's a safe place." Without another word, Owlwing raced into the woods in search of the required herbs. He would easily be able to find the cats later. He's mind raced as he ran, trying to think of what happened. He couldn't help but wonder if the omen Morningpaw had recieved was regarding this. He quickly search for herbs that he knew would likely grow in the area, marigold for bleeding, willow bark and poppy seeds for pain, stinging nettle for the broken bone and to stop infection. He gathered what he needed into a large laurel leaf and raced after the scent of the cats, hoping he wasn't too late. "How's the bleeding?" He asked Morningpaw as he placed everything down. He looked to the three other cats. "All of you, out, including Duskpaw, we need room." He barked harshly, turning his attention back to Frostpaw. "Duskpaw, get us a sturdy stick." He called.

Duskpaw looked at Morningpaw and gave her a hopeful smile after Owlwing had made his orders, he turned around and directed Henry and Mara to follow him. Thankfully the fox set wasn’t too far, it was the only safe place he could think of. He signaled them to put her in the den, and he began pacing in front of the den. Worry and guilt finding its way into Duskpaws thoughts, this wouldn’t be happening if he had never left the clan. Everything that happens reminds him of that day, that day he ran after the one cat who cared about him the least. The sight of Morningpaw distracted him from his thoughts, letting out a happy purr as she rubbed her pelt against his. He let out a sigh when Owlwing approached not long after, the two medicine cats could surely save Frostpaw. When Henry and Mara left the den he looked to them, “thank you for your help, but I think it’s best you go.” He mewed and turned around without another word, he needed to find a sturdy stick for Owlwing. Which he began to frantically search for, testing each one he found. Once he found a perfect stick he ran back to the den, dropping the stick next to Owling. He paced in front of the den again, hoping that Frostpaw would be okay, he knew he could never forgive himself if she didn’t survive.
Morningpaw felt her heart skip a beat when she saw Duskpaw, the tom was obviously injured and disoriented. Realization hit quickly once Owlwing started to panic, asking for cobwebs and ordering them to put Frostpaw in a safe place.. She pushed the panic away, she couldn’t remember how many times Owlwing had told her to put aside the feelings when there is a cat injured. She quickly began running searching for cobwebs, looking high and low for holes in the ground or the trees. Once she found a good size bundle of cobwebs she began smelling their scent, following it as it slowly got stronger. Morningpaw could see Duskpaw pacing in front of a den, she walked over to him and pushed her pelt against his. “It’s going to be okay,” she mewed to the tom through the cobwebs in her mouth. Once she seen Owlwing she entered the small den, sitting next to him waiting for him to lay out the herbs.

Henry nodded. "Very well. I hop that we will be able to meet again. You will always be welcomed within our group." He told the black tom before leaving, a swish of his tail instructing Mara to Follow. He now knew that the mysterious cat was staying outside of the twoleg place and acquainted with the clan cats. Henry narrowed his eyes, wondering what would cause a clan cat to enter such a place. Especially where there were aggressive dogs. "Mara, I want you to search around and get as much information as you can regarding those cats."
Owlwing gave the poppy seeds to Frostpaw and then instructed her to bite down on the stick as he worked on her wounds. He kept his gaze on the pale cat as he worked away, seeming to be completely unaware of his surroundings and only focused on treatment. Occasionally, he would request a certain herbs from Morningpaw, providing her with instructions when needed. He did not however, allow the she-cat to actively take part. It was in an unknown environment and a life of death situation, he could not allow the risk of a mistake, everything have to be done perfectly. He found a great aid however in her preparing materials for him, surprised by how responsive she was being despite the patient being her sister. After a while, Owlwing was finished. He stepped away from Frostpaw and took the stick that now laid in front of her. "I will go gather some chamomile for when she wakes up. Some ragwort as well..." Owlwing told her, standing up and exiting the den. He looked up to the sky. It was far to late to continue their journey. "Clean yourself off in the river. We will be staying there for tonight. Duskpaw, when Morningpaw gets back, go out and catch some prey. I will return shortly." He instructed before once again disappearing into the forest.

Mara nodded at Henry, “seems easy enough,” she mewed in response to his orders. She was quick to assume that Duskpaw would be easy to manipulate which would make the investigation go smoother.
Duskpaw dipped his head, but avoided eye contact, at Henry and Mara as they said goodbye. He couldn’t help being surprised at tom for inviting him into his group, what was the reasoning for that? In the middle of his thoughts Owlwing and Morningpaw emerged from the den, and Owlwing was making orders as usual. He could see relief in Morningpaws gaze, which told him Frostpaw was okay for now. When Owlwing left, Duskpaw rubbed his pelt against Morningpaw, “I’m so happy to see you, I don’t know what I would’ve done without you or Owlwing.” He let out a purr, despite the circumstances he was with his sister, which made him feel more at home.
Morningpaw assisted Owlwing attentively, not wanting one thing to go wrong. Frostpaw had lost a lot of blood, and there would be no room for mistakes. Relief washed over her as Owlwing finished up and began making new orders as he left the den, she took a moment and looked at Frostpaw. “I love you,” she whispered before following Owlwing out of the den. She dipped her head at his orders and focused her attention on Duskpaw. Purring once he rubbed his pelt against hers, “I am so happy to see you too,” she replied to him. She began to lick the dog bite on Duskpaw’s muzzle, “I’ll take care of that after a few, and then you’re going to tell me what in the Starclan got you two to this point,” she mewed seriously as she looked him in the eye. She walked away towards the river to clean herself off as Owlwing instructed her, but she couldn’t help but wonder what had gotten Duskpaw and Frostpaw in this position. She had a strong feeling it had to do with Azreal, it always has to do with Azreal. Morningpaw returned shortly with a wet, clean pelt. She looked to Duskpaw, “you better go catch us some good prey,” she mewed before laying in front of the den to clean herself and watched the tom disappear from her sight.

Owlwing returned as Duskpaw left, giving the younger cat a nod of acknowledgement as he returned to the fox den. "Take this." He instructed her, providing her with some thyme he had found. He walked around the den, unbothered by the blood that still stained his coat, taking note of the surrounding area. "Frostpaw will have to stay here." He eventually said, breaking the silence. While many would welcome her and Duskpaw back, there were many that saw them as traitors. Have Frostpaw come back due to injury would not be something many would accept. Once a cat leaves the clan, it was often difficult for them to returned, especially when considering that her training had been left unfinished. "I'll return here at night to tend to her wounds. We will not speak to Moonstar of this for now." He added. While Moonstar was usually kind and generous, he knew she may not feel comfortable with Owlwing using his time and resources to tend to a cat that left the clan, especially when considering that Morningpaw was still young, and not ready to take over his duties if something were to happen. He signed and glanced to the den, he wondered how they had gotten into that situation.

Morningpaw nodded at Owlwing, she knew it would be best for that clan. “I suppose I shouldn’t say anything to Silvermist and Aspenpaw?” She asked the tom, as much as she wish she could run back to the clan to grab them so they could see the rest of their family she knew she couldn’t. If they went back to the clan and she told them, she knew Silvermist would insist to find them again. But it still felt selfish to her to keep it to herself, Silvermist and Aspenpaw deserved to know they were sort of okay.
After some time Duskpaw returned with prey hanging from his mouth, he dropped it all near the den signaling to the Owlwing. He didn’t want to take the first pick, nor did he want to disturb Frostpaw by shoving prey in her face. He looked at both of the cats, seeing curiosity in both of their gazes. “I know you both want to know what happened..” he said shamefully and put his head down, he knew he would have to explain what happened. Which meant he practically had to live it over again. He could still picture the fear in Frostpaws eyes as the dogs attacked her, the thought made him shudder. He couldn’t be more thankful they ran into the medicine cats, she wouldn’t have made it if they hadn’t.

"Not a word to anyone." He affirmed. The less that they discussed the two siblings, the better. Silvermist would be hard set on saving them, it would cause a rift in the clan. As much as Owlwing would love to have everything back how it was, what was done is done. Owlwing was the first to pick his portion. He grabbed the largest mouse, deciding it would be best to split his prey with Frostpaw whenever she was ready to eat. The other two still needed to grow, they needed to eat their fill. The tom sat down in front of the den and began to eat without hesistation, though when Duskpaw mentioned telling them what happened, Owlwing shook his head. "it's best that we don't know." He told Duskpaw. He stopped eating and crossed his paws, glancing between the two cats before speaking again. "You aren't of Isletclan anymore. What you do and what happens to you is none of our concern." He told Duskpaw, though his tone was more gentle than expected. He looked to Morningpaw. "You are a medicine cat, you can't let your feelings and emotions get involved when treating someone. Especially when it's your friends and family." The tom told her, knowing that she may not like what he was saying. "Duskpaw, assuming that there is no danger to the clan, you keep what happened to yourself. There is nothing we can do besides treat your wounds, whatever happened will not change that. You cannot have one paw within the clan and another out here. Until Frostpaw is healed, I will continue to help you. However, once she is healed, you are to never request the aid of Isletclan again." The tom then continued to eat. He was sure that the two siblings found what he said to be offensive, but he could not allow Duskpaw to convince Morningpaw to leave the clan as well.

Duskpaw put his head down again but this time at Owlwings words, “okay,” he mumbled. Normally he would’ve gotten irritated and rolled his eyes at the Owlwing but this time Duskpaw knew the medicine cat was right. There was nothing he or his sister could do to go back to the clan, and maybe it was foolish to even run for their help once Frostpaw got injured. But he didn’t see any other option to help her, and as much as the clan may see them as traitors he knew deep down they would help her. Not to mention the anger he did have he was saving for Azreal, that flea-bag had more than blood coming after her. He shook his thoughts away and grabbed a shrew he had caught from the small pile and laid next to Morningpaw. Pushing it towards her indicating he wanted to share, it was probably the last meal they could share together. “You’re so big,” Duskpaw teased Morningpaw, she was almost his size, and as for him he was at least as big as Silvermist now. “Is Aspenpaw that big too?”
Morningpaw nodded respectfully at Owlwing after he was done speaking, “understood.” She quietly mewed and looked to her brother, who she had missed so dearly. He looked defeated and rugged, she wished she could make it all better. But at least they were there to help Frostpaw, otherwise she wouldn’t have made it. Maybe she owed it to Owlwing to thank him for helping them, since he knew he didn’t have to. Morningpaw let out a purr when Duskpaw laid next to her with a shrew, she immediately took a bite once he pushed it over to her. Giggling at his comment she replied, “he’s almost as big as you,” she mewed with a smile, admiring his long fur that was as long as their fathers. It was so good to see them, even though she couldn’t speak of this again, she had missed them so much.

Owlwing watched the two in silence, feeling a tinge of guilt, but he was glad the two cats seemed to understand his reasoning. As much as it seemed to be cruel, at the end of the day, it was to make everything much easier on them. He suspected it was foul play, but knowing for sure would only cause Morningpaw to try to protect them. He shook his head to remove the thoughts, now wasn't the time to worry about such things. "I'll be sure to teach you and Frostpaw somethings that will be useful." He told Duskpaw, finishing his portion of the mouse before standing. His ear twitched as he heard Frostpaw shift in the den. He picked up what remained and disappeared into the darkness. After a while, he returned, glancing to Morningpaw and Duskpaw. "You two should probably go talk in the den. I'm sure it will comfort Frostpaw to hear your voices. I'll go clean off and gather more moss." He told them, glancing back to the den as he spoke. Frostpaw was still not fully aware due to the poppy seeds, but she needed emotional comfort right now. The worse of it was over.

Morningpaw woke up to the comfort of Frostpaws and Duskpaws pelt touching hers, it had been far too many moons since they all slept in a den together. She appreciated the comfort for a few moments but couldn’t ignore the grumbling of her belly. She stood up and stretched her legs. “Good morning,” she mewed loudly as she hovered over her siblings. She knew her and Owlwing would have to leave at some point soon and she didn’t want to waste a minute with her siblings. “Let’s eat,” she mewed loudly again as she left the den, breathing in the fresh air of the forest. She looked over to the prey Duskpaw caught the night before, the smart black tom had made sure to get enough for the morning. Morningpaw grabbed a mouse and waited for the other two to come out of the den before eating.
Duskpaw grumbled as Morningpaw woke him up, “shh,” he mumbled trying to still sleep. But the urge to see his sister before she left was enough to get him up quickly. He nudged Frostpaw, “good morning, let’s see Morningpaw before she goes.” He mewed to her and gave her a single lick on the forehead. He was beyond grateful for the circumstances, even with everything that happened yesterday he was more than happy that Frostpaw made it. He would never let anything like that happen to her again, or in other words he will never put any trust in Azreal again. He exited the den and smiled as soon as he seen Morningpaw, “good morning.” He mewed and dipped his head at Owlwing.

Owlwing was already outside the den, several herbs neatly bundled in front of him. He glanced up when he saw Morningpaw and Duskpaw. "I'll help frostpaw." He said, slipping past the two to go help the smaller cat. He emerged again, supporting a drousy Frostpaw out to a sunny spot in the grass. He placed a small mouse in front of her, along with some herbs to eat as he began to inspect her wouds. As much as he would perfer to have her stay put, he knew that she would regret it if she couldn't see Morningpaw off. The tom placed a mixture of chewed herbs on her wound. "Duskpaw, come here, look at what I'm doing." He ordered. "Dock leaves to go in her nest. Marigold gets chewed and applied to the wound, it helps prevent infection. I just gave her one poppy seed, she's too small for two to be given regularly, and stinging nettle for her to chew on." He pointed to each herb that he had laid out. "Do this every morning, I'll come at night and take care of her then." He glanced from Duskpaw and back to Frostpaw, who, despite her worn out state, had been paying key attention to what the medicine cat was saying. "After we eat we will be leaving. I'll place these in the den for you." He told the three siblings, figuring that they would want time for themselves.
Frostpaw watched Owlwing closes, and turned her head to watch him disappear into the den before looking to her siblings. "Owlwing said that it's not that bad." She told her siblings, her voice seeming far away as she poked at the prey that had been placed in front of her. She recalled what she had been told so far. The bite on her flank was what she had been referring to, it was deep, but Owlwing was confident in her recovery. Her tail however had been left as a stump, the length of that of a rabbit's. She swallowed hard, still numb from both the shock and medication. Her brain felt fuzzy and her body seemed as if it wasn't her own. A tail though was better than a foot or leg, she could adapt without it. She glanced to her sibling again before she started to eat in silence.

Morningpaw observed Frostpaws frail body next to her, relieved that the she-cat made It. Slightly tipping her head as she observed the bite on her flank, it resembling what Morningpaw believed was a dog bite. She then observed Duskpaw, the wound on his face made him look a lot more fierce than she wanted to believe he was, but she could tell they got into something that had to do with dogs. Besides those facts she missed them, it wasn’t time to play detective. “I have missed you both so much, I have so much I wish I had the time to tell you.” She didn’t want to burden them with her clan life problems anyway, life seems fairly peaceful out in the forest. Beside whatever the two had gotten themselves into the day before.
Duskpaw listened closely to what Owlwing was saying, he didn’t want to mess anything else up. He had done enough to him and his siblings, just like they wouldn’t be where they were if it weren’t for him. He laid down in front of Morningpaw and Frostpaw, making somewhat of a circle. He didn’t want to waste a second with Morningpaw and decided he would eat after she left. “We have missed you so much too. How’s father? I have to know..” he trailed off, feeling guilt jab at his chest once again. It was so hard to think about him, he was probably still crushed.

Frostpaw glanced up at the mention of their father, she too was curious as to how he and Aspenpaw have been. She glanced at the ground in front of her, recalling that day with guilt panging at her heart. She had promised to protect Duskpaw when they left, yet it was her decision to follow Azreal that got them in this situation. She looked up to Morningpaw, resting her head on her paws, wanting to hear what she had to say. "And Aspenpaw too." She added, not wanting to miss a single detail. She was curious if Aspenpaw was a warrior yet. She could imagine him, sitting in front of everyone, his chest puffed out and goofy grin on his face. She had to prevent herself from laughing at the image. Her ears twisted back as she heard Owlwing exit the den, however, the tom stopped and said nothing. She felt relief fill her body, glad that the medicine cat wasn't rushing Morningpaw to leave. She could vaguely sense him staring at them, but based on her siblings, she assumed it was a look of boredom, not irritation. She placed all of her attention back to Morningpaw, not wanting to miss a single word.

Morningpaw let out a sigh as they asked how father was, the truth was he wasn’t great. But she couldn’t put that burden on them, they already had enough on their plates. “They both are okay.” She mewed honestly, no one was bad but no one was good, they were all just okay. “But Aspenpaw has gotten big, almost as big as Duskpaw!” She exclaimed to them, “he’s not a warrior yet but we both are close to getting our names. I’m excited..” she trailed off and looked at Frostpaw, “and how have you guys been? Besides yesterday…” Morningpaw asked them curiously, she honestly wanted to ask them what happened to Azreal but had a feeling it was a touchy subject.
Duskpaw looked down again as Morningpaw said they were okay, of course they weren’t doing good. Their family was ripped apart in less than a day, how could anyone recover from that? He sideyed Frostpaw as their sister asked them how they have been, he took a deep breath and spoke, “well, we were doing better for a few days.. The forest is great, but this life that I let Azreal drag us into is ugly.” He mewed honestly to her, he hadn’t been able to talk about his feelings truly without feeling guilty about saying the wrong thing in front of Frostpaw. “Everything is my fault..”

Frostpaw was quiet for a while after what Duskpaw said, but she soon spoke up. "I perfer living as a loner." She admitted to her siblings, ignoring the narrowed gaze of Owlwing from behind her. Perhaps it was due to the poppy seeds, but she felt inclined to admit her feelings. She liked living out in the forest without the clan. She missed her family dearly, but part of her felt like this was right, like it was how she was suppose to be. "I miss you, Aspenpaw and father...and you as well Owlwing." She paused, trying to think of what to say, but the fuzziness of her brain made it difficult to find the right words. "But I feel like this is how I was meant to live. I don't feel like I have to act a certain way, and I have time to just sit and think." She glanced up to Morningpaw, worried that her sister would feel betrayed or hurt by her words. Of course, if Duskpaw wanted to rejoin the clan, she would want to go with him, but if this was how the rest of her life was going to be, she would be content. She still prayed to starclan, and thanked them for every piece or prey and slip of water, but she was beginning to think clan life was not the life for her.
"Just make sure you stay out of trouble then." Owlwing responded, his expression was neutral, seeming to be unsurprised by Frostpaw's words. He waited until Frostpaw nodded in response before he spoke again. "Morningpaw, we best be leaving soon, or the clan will grow concerned. We have to clean our pelts before we can enter Isletclan territory." He told his apprentice, standing up. He nodded his head in farewell to the two outsiders. "I'll be at the river." He added before trotting away, intent to thoroughly clean his pelt.

Duskpaw nodded in agreement at Frostpaws words, “I feel that way too,” he mewed and gave his sister a smile. The thought of the rogue Henry inviting him to his group lingered in his mind. Trying to decide if he should tell Frostpaw or leave it alone like he was never asked a word. He glanced at Morningpaw once Owlwing said it was almost time for them to go, he gave her a sorrowful gaze. “Thank you, for everything.” He mewed at her, trying to fight back tears. He wished he would’ve been able to give his siblings and father a proper goodbye, but one day he would make things right with them.
Morningpaw listened closely to Frostpaw and Duskpaw, feeling a pang of sadness when they said they preferred being loners. But she knew it was a good thing, there was a very small chance they’d ever be accepted back into the clan and they deserved to be happy somewhere. “Well, that’s good. I miss you both and I worry about you so much, so hearing that you like it is good enough for me.” She mewed and gave them both a smile. She nodded Owlwing as he left to go to the river, she stood up and looked down at her siblings. “If Frostpaw is well enough by the gathering I better see you both there,” she mewed hopefully at them before turning around towards where Owlwing had gone. She looked back before walking away, “I love you both,” she mewed and continued on her way,

Frostpaw nodded in agreement. "We will. It's not far from here anyways, if Owlwing finds us, we can jsut say that we were trying to find him." She told her sister. The she-cat glanced to Duskpaw, "I promise I will try to recover quickly." She told him, a spark of determination in her eyes despite her dazed expression. She loved her siblings dearly, and did not want to miss out on the chance to see them again. She felt guilty that Aspenpaw was not with the right now. The tom would have a fit if he knew. "I hope I get to call you and Aspenpaw different names by then." She added with a tired purr, resting her head down on the cool ground as she walked her sister leave. She closed her eyes completely, enjoying the sound of the bugs and birds, and the feeling of the cool greenleaf breeze on her pelt. Despite her pain and worry for her future, she was glad to have seen her sister again.
Owlwing sat by the river, his pelt dripping with water as he dried himself off. He glanced up Morningpaw but said nothing, deciding that they could talk while they walked. He waited patiently by the water's edge, watching out for any dangers while Morningpaw rid herself of any scents that would be noticed by their clanmates. "We will grab herbs on our way back." He told her, knowing that would help hide the scent even more.

(Adorable xD )
Duskpaw looked to the ground as Morningpaw left, not saying a word. He knew he would have to face everything that happened now, like Frostpaws injury. His guilt made him want to apologize, but he didn’t want to remind her of what happened. He sighed and grabbed the last mouse by the den and began to eat, with his mind running with ways he could make it up to Frostpaw.
Morningpaw dipped in the water and emerged, cleaning off her pelt quickly since she knew Owlwing was watching her waiting. She caught up beside him and nodded at his suggestion, “okay,” she mewed. She still couldn’t believe that she had seen her siblings, a few moons felt like an eternity to her. They smelt different, looked different, but she could never forget them. She periodically looked around her as Owlwing had warned her to, especially since whatever happened with Frostpaw and Duskpaw.

(oops, meant to pm that lol. I'll delete it haha)
Frostpaw found herself beginning to fall asleep, basking in the warm sunlight, listening to the sound of Duskpaw beside her. She felt so tired, something Owlwing had warned her about. She couldn't help but allow herself to relax, trusting that Duskpaw would protect her. He was the one that saved her after all, somehow. She thought back to his heroism, it made her so proud, he acted like a true warrior. As she drowsily recalled the event, images of what happened flashed through her mind. White teeth, red blood, the dark figure of her brother racing towards her. Her eyes shot opened and she released a shocked gasp, finding herself coughing as she struggled to breath in air. "Duskpaw!" She shouted, desperately looking around. When her gaze landed on the black cat, she stared for a moment, regaining herself and realizing what she had just done. "I'm sorry." She mewed, nearly a whisper. She looked down at her paws with a guilty expression. "C-Could I go back in the den now?" She requested, now feeling exposed as she laid in the grass.
Owlwing walked with urgency, much faster than when they had first departed. "I'll tell you what you will tell anyone that asks." He barked, his amber eyes looking fierce. The tenderness that they had held previously was now gone, instead it was replaced with harsh determination. Lying to Moonstar could be easily seen as a crime. However, he had to withhold his tongue until Frostpaw was in the clear. Though if she ever did find out, trading goods would become more difficult. "We went to moonstone, stayed there for the night, you saw the same vision as before, but the pale fish was tail-less. We wanted to gather herbs on our way back so we crossed the river. I was able to catch us prey while we were gathering." He told her strictly, taking the time to glance back at her. "You got that?" He added, waiting for her response before shifting his gaze back to the path ahead. "We can start gathering herbs as soon as we cross the border. Anything you can find, but we keep moving." They had to make it clear that there was a good reason for their late arrival, he was sure Moonstar wouldn't question anything, but Silvermist was his main concern.

Duskpaw jumped when Frostpaw yelled his name, he was already in thoughts about what happened and it almost felt real again. “Don’t be sorry.” He mewed as he looked at her, sorrow filling his chest. This shouldn’t be happening to her and he couldn’t fight the guilt any longer, “of course,” he said as he stood and helped his sister up and into the den. He made sure she was comfortable and stood for a moment before speaking, “I’m so sorry Frostpaw, I’ll never let anything like this happen to you again..” he trailed off and exited the den, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. Everything felt so heavy on him, except for the forest, it was like an escape. He decided to lay in front of the den but stay awake while she slept. He could tell she was already thinking about what happened and she didn’t deserve to worry about it happening again.
Morningpaw hurried to keep up with Owlwings pace, trying to nod as he spoke. She liked it better that they didn’t know, no matter what it had to be against some sort of code to treat outsiders. Plus Aspenpaw would never let go that she saw their siblings without him. “Got it,” she mewed as she was out of breath. Once they neared the border she began to grab herbs as they walked, just enough to hold in her mouth. She kept walking alongside him, not saying a word since she had no words to speak. The walk had been long but her fur was still yet, making the breeze cold on her pelt.

Frostpaw laid down, quietly thanking her brother as he placed in her the nest. She glanced around the den, pulling moss closer to her body with her fore paw before laying her head down once again. She glanced to the light that flooded from the entrance, feeling some comfort when she could make out part of Duskpaw's figure. She released a heavy sigh, forcing herself to close her eyes. She pushed away the thoughts that tried to invade her mind, instead focusing on memories of hunting for fish in the river. She soon felt herself fall asleep, vivid images of silver fish darting around her in crystal clear water flooding her dreams.
Owlwing was glad that the younger cat was being so receptive. They were able to gather a wide range of herbs, many of them ones that he wanted more of anyways. As they came closer to camp, the cat turned to look at Morningpaw once again. "Don't forget what I said." He told her, starting to make his way towards the entrance of the dam.
When the two entered, Aspenpaw was near the entrance, bundles of prey in his mouth from his hunt. He glanced back to look at Morningpaw, and quickly placed down his prey at the fresh-kill pile. The tom rushed over to Morningpaw, purring in greeting. "Morningpaw! You're back!" He mewed, side stepping to get out of Owlwing's way, the brown tom not slowing down his stride to the medicine cat den. "Yikes, he's in a nasty mood." Aspenpaw whispered. Despite his apparent distaste for the medicine cat, his blue eyes were filled with concern. "What happened? Oh, I guess I can't really ask you." He signed, remembering when he and Redpaw asked Owlwing a few moons ago, getting the scolding of a life time. "Medicine cat stuff...I can at least carry those herbs for you, you look exhausted."

Morningpaw dipped her head at Owlwing, of course she wouldn’t forget. She turned to see Aspenpaw running towards her, happiness rushing over her, “I got it, thank you.. I missed you,” she mewed through the herbs and rubbed her pelt against his. She would forever be thankful he stayed here with her. She was able to face the fact that Duskpaw and Frostpaw were happy for the most part in the forest, which now made her more at ease. She put the herbs away quickly in the den, in need of relief off of her feet. She then went to lay in the grass where they usually eat their meals, feeling so much relief from being off her feet.
Redpaw noticed Morningpaw laying down and nudged Silvermist as they entered the clan, “their back,” he mewed to the tom, who was always worried about all of his kits. At least he now knew that she-cat made the long trip safely. He trotted over to the fresh-kill pile and dropped his prey in the pile. He wanted to say hi to Morningpaw but he knew Silvermist and Aspenpaw had missed her, so he made his way over to the apprentice den for a nap.

Aspenpaw nodded and watched her go, his tail dropping with a thud. He glanced around the clearing, looking to see if Redpaw was near. He sighed and picked up a mouse, remembering that Redpaw was still out hunting. He began to eat in silence, but he felt excitement again when Morningpaw came back out. He quickly grabbed the half eaten mouse and trotted over, sitting down beside her to continue his meal.
Silvermist's eyes lit up at the sight of his kits. The tom turned and looked to Redpaw. "Why don't you go join them?" He suggested with a smile. "I'll be back in a moment." He explained. The silver cat gave Morningpaw and Aspenpaw a smile as he passed them, making his way to Moonstar's den. He paused when he saw Owlwing by the Willow tree, seeming to be waiting for their leader. At first he felt worry, but soon it was changed to pride. "Is it about Morningpaw?" He asked quickly, getting a snort in response.
"Quit being nosey." Owlwing responded, his earing flattening as the silver cat laughed. He was quiet for a moment. "It could be." He added teasingly, giving his friend a small grin.
Silvermist smiled even more. He felt some sadness. The three apprentices all seemed like kits to him still, but it seemed as though they had all grown up so quickly. "Did she get her name last night?" He asked.
Owlwing shook his head. "No, we were there for a different reason." He lied, looking up at the willow tree. "I will try to take her there tomorrow. She will have to fast, so we will not be able to go tonight." He explained, getting a nod from the tom as he spoke. "But I do have a name already picked...It suits her." He added.

Morningpaw glanced up at Aspenpaw, “so how was everything while we were gone?” She asked him, she didn’t know what to talk about and she definitely couldn’t talk about what her and Owlwing just went through. She rolled onto her back, hoping to get the fur on her belly to dry, plus the sunshine felt nice.
Redpaw trotted over Morningpaw and Aspenpaw excitedly, “glad to see you back Morningpaw!” He said happily and laid near them, he was glad to see the she-cat made it back safely.
Moonstar padded towards the willow tree as she came from the half two-leg bridge. Noticing Owlwing and Silvermist she dipped her head, “hello, glad to see you back Owlwing, I hope everything went well.” She mewed happily, the journey to the moonstone was long and tiring. The she-cat had no intentions of asking him a bunch of questions, whatever happened could stay between the medicine cats.

Aspenpaw released a loud sigh. "Nothing, it was so boring." He complained, looking to Redpaw for his agreement. "Briarshine had let us into the nursery though. The kits are super cute but so small." He told his sister, using hid paws to indicate the size of the kittens. "I can't believe that they will be as big as us one day." He added, taking another bite from his mouse. It was nice that they didn't have to worry much about prey or Forestclan, especially right now, but it was starting to get boring. He purred slightly, thinking of when the kits are older. He would for sure seek over and play with them whenever he got the chance. "Do you think we would get to mentor them?" He asked out loud, trying to count in his head the age difference.
Owlwing gave the grey cat a polite nod. "Glad to be back." He responded, silently thanking Starclan that he was not asked anything regarding their journey. "I would like to to..." He paused and glanced behind him, seeing Silvermist listening intently with his fluffy tail high in the air. Owlwing rolled his eyes, the warrior was acting like a kit. He looked back to their leader, ignoring the tom and allowing him to listen to his words, sensing the excitement radiating from Silvermist as he spoke. It made him smile slightly, but he forced himself to revert to a more proper expression. "I know that it is very soon, but I would like to take her again tomorrow. I feel that I have taught her all that I can. She is young, but she is wise beyond her age. I am proud to have been her mentor." Owlwing told the she-cat, giving Silvermist another small glance, more warm than before. He was glad that despite what had happened, he could provide his pseudo-brother some happiness.

Redpaw looked at Morningpaw but nodded at Aspenpaw in agreement, “it’s so boring, at least the kits will be big in a no time,” he mewed excitedly to them. “And I don’t know, maybe?” He slightly shrugged but didn’t attempt to do the calculations to see. Not much was ever going on in the clan anymore, but at least soon Aspenpaw would be getting his warrior name which means Redpaw would soon follow. “When do you think you’ll get your name Morningpaw?” He asked the she-cat, curious to know. He knew medicine cat apprentices were usually apprentices longer than normal, but he didn’t know if it always worked like that,
Morningpaw shrugged at Redpaw, “honestly I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure Owlwing is happy with my work.” She mewed happily, reflecting on her apprenticeship with Owlwing. He had taught her so well, he had taught her beyond herbs. She knew no one would’ve mentored her as well, they worked great together. She focused her attention back on the apprentices in front of her, “I know Aspenpaws naming ceremony will probably be before mine,” she mewed sweetly and admired her brother, he had grown to be a wonderful apprentice, and soon warrior.
Moonstar dipped her head at Owlwing, “if you believe she’s ready I do too, she sure has shown herself.” She mewed and gave the tom a smile, she was glad to have amazing cats in her clan as she did. She thought for a moment before speaking again, “I also talked to Quietstorm not long ago, she said Aspenpaw is beyond ready for his ceremony.” She mewed to Owlwing, thinking about when she would call the ceremony. The both of them were deserving of their names and more than ready just like Quietstorm had said. She silently decided she would hold his ceremony tonight, so that Morningpaw could be apart of it.

Aspenpaw nodded proudly at his sister's words. "I will be the best warrior this forest has every seen." He boasted, hopping up and getting into a playful, fighting stance, challenging Redpaw to attack him. "Just the other day, I won against father!" He told his sister. He found it odd how small his father seemed now, it was like he was all fluff. Aspenpaw was already decently larger. "Do you think I'm bigger than Duskpaw? Since he has fur like father, maybe he's just all fur too?" The dark tabby suggested, seeming to like the idea of being the largest in the family. When he becomes leader, he would want to be a fierce protector that everyone respected, and surely being a huge cat would help with that.
"Ah Moonstar," Silvermist interrupted, stepping in front of Owlwing, earning a playful grumble from the brown tabby. "I wanted to also recommend Redpaw. I know he is a year younger than Morningpaw and Aspenpaw, but you wouldn't know it when you see them together." The silver tabby paused as he thought for a moment, a look of guilt on his face. "Even when I was being neglectful, he strived to continue his training and was able to keep up with Aspenpaw. I think that despite me failing to act as his mentor throughout his apprenticeship, he has shown dedication to both himself and the clan. I think that the moon difference would not be noticed by anyone." He further explained.

Redpaw rolled his eyes at Aspenpaw, “I’ll take you,” he teased and crouched down into a fighting position. He pounced at him playfully and let out a laugh, it felt good to play like a kit again.
Morningpaw giggled at Aspenpaw, we was always such a dork. “Maybe he is,” she joked, knowing Duskpaw was definitely not all fur. Which reminded her of him and Frostpaw, she hoped the she-cat was doing as good as she could be. Maybe Owlwing would let go along with him to check on Frostpaw, and she can see her siblings again. Either way they all seemed certain about the gathering, and hopefully they were since Aspenpaw deserved to see them too. Morningpaw let out another laugh as Aspenpaw and Redpaw played like kits.
Moonstar smiled at Silvermist, “very well then.” She mewed and dipped her head at the two cats and disappeared into her den. She agreed and respected both of the toms opinions about the apprentices, they each were deserving of their names in different way. She slowly paced her den, thinking of the names she would be giving the two warriors. At least she had a sense of relief that she didn’t have to decide Morningpaw’s name, Owlwing seems to be confident about they name he’ll be giving her.

Owlwing and Silvermist exchanged pleasantries for a while, it had been a long time since they last got to just sit and chat. Silvermist missed his dear friend and partner in crime. The two however, eventually went their seperate ways, Owlwing disappearing into the nursery to check on Briarshine.
SIlvermist trotted over to the three younger cats, smoothly grabbing a fish from the fresh-kill pile was he walk, not breaking his stride. "What are you two up to?" He asked in a teasing manner to the two toms, watching them wrestle in the clearing. He looked down to Morningpaw, noting how tired she seemed. He tried his best to not make his concern obvious. He knew how difficult it was to travel to the moonstone, he had done it many times, but on a full stomach and with herbs to give you strength. Morningpaw and Owlwing did not get such luxuries. "Did you eat?" He asked the silver she-cat, sitting down beside her and out of the way of Aspenpaw and Redpaw.
