(So happy to be posting again, idk why cx )
Falconpaw lit up when his brother successfully wrapped and tied the leaf, “great job!” He mewed enthusiastically. Soon he felt silly with his enthusiasm and quickly composed himself, “I mean yea, good job.” He then mewed bluntly and glanced over to Morningstream.
Morningstream smiled at Mudpaw, “that’s great Mudpaw, I wasn’t able to tie mine the first time.” She mewed and glanced over to Falconpaw who quickly shut down. “Since I have what I need, would you two like to show me your hunting skills?”
——
Redclaw nudged his close friend with his shoulder, “it’s fine, there’s plenty of prey in the forest… maybe,” he mewed as he sniffed the air and glanced around. Things seemed to have gotten a bit eerily quiet. “Let’s walk around,” he suggested to the tom.
——
Mara felt her legs stiffen when Frost questioned her about the pier cats. Growing up in the city where there is so much gossip and lies has secretly made her an advocate for always knowing the truth. She let out a small sigh, “I guess I did. But that was moons ago that I clarified that, before I met you and Dusk the first time.” Mara began to explain as they kept trotting down the sidewalk, “I was snooping around one day, I wanted to know the truth after all of the lies from Brick and Henry. A couple cats from their group caught me and they weren’t hostile. They let me go without a scratch, but today… I think I’d leave with more than a scratch. So yes, they used to be. I don’t know about anymore, with the way Henry has treated them.”

Mudpaw jumped up to his paws, “yeah!” He purred eagerly, but he soon felt his paws grow hot with embarrassment as he looked to his brother sheepishly before once again glancing at the medicine cat, “if that’s okay.” He added shyly, shrinking down his body nervously as he felt the two cats look at him.
—
Aspenheart nodded, “sure, maybe we will find something soon.” He mewed, his eyes drifting as he tried to look for any signs of prey. Even with all the talking, he expected some sort of noise, but it was completely silent. He looked up above, no hawks from what he could see, small birds were still fluttering about without a care. “We should keep an eye out.” He added, his tone was serious for once. Though he doubted there was any danger nearby, he couldn’t help but feel anxious. ForestClan had been pressing their luck, and the upcoming cold meant predators were starting to get desperate to fatten up. He sighed, maybe he was just on edge, still, with his sister and the apprentices so close, he felt the need to be vigilant.
—
Frost thought for a moment before nodding, “Dusk would never attack a non-aggressive cat.” She mewed, mostly just to state that her brother wasn’t the cause; even if the cats were peaceful before, by the time of the accident, they must have been on edge. She made note to ask him about it later, she had tried not to pry but it seemed that she would need to now. She looked to Mara for a moment and studied her, she hardly knew the she-cat; despite how much time they spent together. She looked back ahead, her ears pinning for a moment as she thought. “You seemed surprised about the kitty pet attacks; Brick has never mentioned anything to me about them…not that he would.” She added. The longer she had been here, the better she was understanding how determined Henry was to keep her and Dusk away from each other- Brick was seeing to that. Still, she found that it was getting harder and harder to hear about rumours, she couldn’t help but worry that Brick was catching onto her.

Morningstream smiled at Mudpaw, “of course it’s okay,” she mewed.
Falconpaw jumped up and nudges his brother, “of course it’s okay, let’s get ourselves a good catch!” He said enthusiastically so his brother would feel better. He glanced around him as he tasted the air for any prey nearby, but all he could scent was the stale scent of a finch. “Can we walk a bit?” He turned back to Morningstream to question her.
Morningstream nodded and pushed herself off her haunches, “sure,” she mewed and followed the two apprentices.
——
Redclaw nodded as they slowly padded along the forest floor, “yes,” he replied to Aspenheart. Although he felt like he was always on edge, taking a little too much time looking behind his back. “When do you think this will all be over anyway? When ForestClan owns the whole entire forest?” Redclaw scoffed, feeling a flash of irritation hit him. Not only did ForestClan have a fortune of prey along the forest, they also had more territory to begin with.
——
Mara slightly nodded, “I know Dusk wouldn’t either, but that was after the fight with the pier cats. I think since then they’ve gotten more aggressive, but I wouldn’t blame them.” She explained and listened to Frost as she spoke. She took a moment to think before replying, “well no one’s ever attacked kittypets, it’s just not what we do. Or ever have for that matter.” Mara began to explain. She motioned to Frost to take a turn, so that they wouldn’t end up at the alleyway as quickly as they were. “It has to be Brick, or those other cats he hangs with. I can’t think of anyone else who would attack kittypets,” Mara finished and glanced around the city.

Mudpaw mew happily and trotted behind his brother eagerly. Occasionally, he glanced around, looking out for signs of danger. They were with Morningstream after all, it was their job to protect the medicine cat. Of course he was aware that he and his brother would not be much help, but the idea of escorting a medicine cat did make him feel more like a warrior. His tail twitched slightly in embarrassment, aware that he was daydreaming like a kit. "Do you smell anything?" he asked Falconpaw, trying to locate the scent of prey.
--
Aspenheart scoffed and shook his head, "yeah right, those cats would probably want the island too." He joked with a grin, "then they would probably ask us to teach them how to swim." The dark tabby laughed slightly at his own joke. The pelts of ForestClan cats looked so scruffy and wild when compared to the sleek, flowing coats of IsletClan. Even Silvermist and Duskpaw, with their fluffy coats, looked elegant in comparison. Aspenheart felt his eyes drift to his paws for a moment as he walked. It had been a long time since he thought about his brother so much. He looked back up with a determined expression, glancing to Redclaw, "anyways, we should try to find some prey before they hoard it all."
--
Frost huffed slightly but said nothing, a cold, thoughtful expression on her face as she took in what Mara had said. She was a bit surprised that Brick wasn't bragging; maybe even he had standards. Kitty pets were weak after all, no cat would take pride in attacking them. "Toby would probably slip up if we ask, he's...timid... after all." She eventually said with a rather quiet, hushed voice, glancing to the black and white she-cat, "it's just that Haven will cause some problems if she is around." She added, looking back ahead as she spoke.

Falconpaw stopped in his tracks and stood tall to take a deep breath of the air, “every scent is stale,” he grumbled. He glanced around, screwing his eyes up to see if any prey were lying in the shadows. “Let’s keep going,” he suggested as he began to quietly walk, he was afraid to scare away the bit of prey there was.
Morningstream stayed silent but kept close behind the apprentices. Hunting was not her expertise but even she couldn’t find a fresh scent of prey. It made her worry for Redclaw and Aspenheart, and more importantly the whole clan.
——
Redclaw kept quiet as Aspenheart spoke of ForestClan, he knew it all was true but he had no more to say. “We better,” he replied as he glanced around for prey. As they kept walking he let out a sigh, “if we keep walking we’ll make it back to Morningstream and the apprentices,” he pointed out. He stopped for a moment to smell the air, he scented a faint scent of some sort of squirrel. “There must be squirrels in the trees.”
——
Mara scoffed a bit, “good luck with that, they are always together.” As they came closer to the alleyway again she let out a sigh, “whenever I get the chance I’ll try to see what Brick’s up to when he’s not around,” she mewed to the she-cat next to her.

Mudpaw nodded, following close. His eyes darting as he kept an eye for any signs of prey or danger. He sighed, feeling a little disappointed; he couldn't help but worry that they would end up with nothing but herbs. They hadn't had any trouble with prey before. He looked to Morningstream, "um, usually we have caught something by now." He mewed nervously in an attempt to reassure himself. He shyly looked to his paws before looking back ahead with a determined but still nervous expression on his face.
--
Aspenheart looked up and glanced around, "none that I can see." He mewed with a bit of a sigh before he paused slightly, looking to his friend, "should I climb up and see if I can chase any out?" He asked. The dark tabby's tail swished slight as he glanced to the nearest tree, ears perked. "Or we could find some berries and nuts; might be able to lure some out?"
--
Frost nodded, "yeah, like rats to crowfood." She said with a sigh, a dry expression on her face as she looked ahead, trying to see if she can make out Toby and Haven from the crowd of cats. "Maybe I can get Shadow to distract him?" She added, mostly talking to herself, "Starclan knows I can't, he acts like I'm worse than a tick. Honestly, I can't believe anyone still believes what Henry said."

Falconpaw sighed at Mudpaw’s words, “there’s nothing out here,” he grumbled in response. If they kept walking they’d eventually make it the two-leg place, at least that’s what he thought. He kept his pace but lowered his head, he felt worried from the site of no prey.
Morningstream put her ears back as Mudpaw turned to her, “it’s about that time prey gets scarce, maybe we should go back and wait for Redclaw and Aspenheart.” The she-cat suggested to the two apprentices. She could tell they were getting discouraged, and they had no point to keep searching.
——
Redclaw shrugged, “I think your going to have to chase them out,” he mewed before lifting his head again to look in the trees. If Aspenheart chased one out then Redclaw would be able to grab it. “I’ll stay down here ready to catch it,” he mewed with a smirk. There was no way he was going up the tree himself, he would be a great asset down on the ground.
——
Mara let out a small laugh, “if you think that’d be a good idea then let’s do it,” she mewed. Shadow seemed to be the distracting type, but yet the one to get distracted. Mara stopped in her tracks as they were almost entering the alleyway, “talk to Shadow and I’m going to see what I can find,” she mewed in a whisper to Frost.

The vid is still kicking my butt but here is the response finally XD)
Mubpaw pawed at the dirt in front of him for a moment, clearly flustered at the thought of returning to their mentors without a single piece of prey, but he eventually sighed and nodded. He looked to his brother and the medicine cat before glancing back to where they came, "maybe we will find something on our way back?" He mewed hopefully, his voice cracking as he tried to sound serious.
--
A grin was clear on Aspenheart's face as his partner agreed with his suggestion. He stretched dramatically to try to get a laugh from the tom, acting as though he was a cat far beyond his years, "watch and learn, Redclaw, watch and learn." He purred, his tail swishing from side to side as he walked up to the nearest tree with perked ears. The trees were all close enough that he was sure he could jump from one to the other with ease. With a surprising burst of speed, he made his way up the tree, steadying himself on one of the branches before glancing around. He looked up to see a a red squirrel the next tree over, only a branch or two above him. He signaled with his tail before nodding towards the creature, giving Redclaw time to determine the best position. When he was sure that the warrior was ready, the dark tabby leapt with unsheathed claws to the tree, gripping onto a branch a bit lower than his previous position. He scrambled to get higher than the squirrel, trying to prevent it from leaping to another tree, "here it comes!" He yowled to his friend as he swiped at the cfreature to scare it down the tree trunk.
--
Frost nodded, "once he gets Brick away, we can try to separate Haven and Toby. I'm sure with Brick out of the picture, Haven will be more easily distracted. We can meet back here before though, I don't want Brick to catch on." She mumbled, hoping that the plan would go well. Haven was clever, she wouldn't be surprised if she had already figured out her act. She wouldn't be surprised if the she-cat refused to leave Toby's side. The pale cat glanced around, eventually spotting her brother amongst the crowd of cats. She moved her way through, the smell of crowfood and stale twoleg heavy in the air. Many of these cats were recently abandoned with nowhere else to go, she couldn't help but feel pity for them, "shadow." She mewed as she found herself closer to her sibling.

(Thanks for being so patient, I’m glad to be back!)
Morningstream felt a bit of sorrow for Mudpaw as his small tone sounded defeated and gave him a slight smile, “I’m sure we will.” She mewed hopefully and focused on the path in front of her. Thoughts quickly began to run through her mind as she trotted alongside the apprentices, why couldn’t she understand more of clans struggles? The only prophecies she’d receive were about her siblings, which was becoming more of a concern rather than a good thing. A small scuffling noise quickly caught Morningstreams attention, “hear that?” She whispered as she stopped in her tracks, hopeful for prey.
Falconpaw stopped quickly and lifted his nose and he smelt for the small animal that they heard. The scent was clear to him, which meant it was close. “Mudpaw, I think it’s behind that tree,” the tom whispered to Mudpaw and pointed with his nose to the large tree near them. As much as Falconpaw was discouraged to not catch anything, he still felt a bit of guilt for his brother.
——
Redclaw watched Aspenheart closely as he pulled himself up the tree, he could feel his stomach twist as he watched the tom step foot on a branch. Once Aspenheart signaled to him, he got in position, quickly following the tom in the trees from the ground. Once he heard the tom yell above him he broke into a run, he kept his eyes steady on the squirrel as it scrambled quickly down the tree. As the squirrel met the ground it noticed Redclaw as he ran towards it, but luckily for the red tom he was in perfect pouncing distance to catch the squirrel by the tail. After he tumbled in the grass he quickly made the killing bite before the small creature could get away from his grip. “Got it!” Redclaw shouted before taking a moment to catch his breath.
——
Shadow turned his head quickly to Frost as she said his name, “Frost,” he mewed with a smile. It wasn’t often they got the chance to talk, or even exchange glances. He didn’t mind if any cat saw them together, he only ever got stares from Henry and the cats close to him anyways. “How are you? Is everything okay?” He asked her concerned, there was most likely something wrong if she was approaching him in the middle of the alleyway.
