[[ ??? || hopscotch chasm || Lark ]] “It is odd,” the shade agreed. Though there really wasn’t anything about the place that wasn’t odd. He thought back to who all had been there when he’d first appeared. He’d been mostly focused on getting out but he’d still been observant of his surroundings. “I believe there were… three others who disappeared shortly after I was brought here. I never heard their names…” He trailed off, trying to remember more details. He didn’t want to linger on the topic of names when he’d so far managed to avoid giving his own. “Two men and a boy. None of them seemed to be ra’Seirri.” If there was a pattern he really wasn’t seeing it yet. He nodded as Viktor continued, looking ahead into the darkness. “That seems most likely. Perhaps we should try to see where it leads? Or- Oh.“ he turned to look back at the door he’d stepped through the last time but found only darkness. “Going back to the previous room to see if the others would return… no longer seems to be an option.” Bottomless pits, now vanishing doors?

[[ Viktor || hopscotch chasm || --cato phoenix ]]Viktor stood still, watching as Evina blinked out as fast as she had arrived. The small device in her hand had gone with her as well. He internally groans, no longer having a chance to check if that could have helped them in some capacity. Perhaps it would have hindered them, relying on mere guesses out of utter desperation.
"Yes, yes, the flame haired boy and two men in suits! I saw them inside the first room." The memory of his intial blink was still fresh in his mind. Recounting their stoic nature, one he knew of well enough in his life. Well suited for those who hands were sullied by dirty jobs. He didn't believe the boy to be a threat but if he were, he was good at hiding it! "Now if we could simply-" Viktor frowned when the shade stood there. He shakes his head in disbelief, gripping his crutch handle. "That musn't be, surely there should be a trick to get back in. It would be poorly designed if it was meant to..." He stopped, realizng something from their earlier discussion. "Eeeh, well, with our current knowledge, this area is difficult to navigate. No landmarks, no maps, and neither does it follow much sense." As he spoke of his idea, he focuses on his good leg and makes a jump for it the next step ahead. Fear washes over him when his feet land on the solid surface. At first he wobles over the edge before regaining his balance.
The scientist gathered his wits before speaking again. "Maybe this is an experiment or trial of sorts gone wrong and we are its subjects? It could have been anyone else to have reappeared but its the same persons nearly every time." Viktor faces the other blinker calmly as much as his own heart says the opposite, beating fast. No matter how much it tore at him, he was undeniably worried he would be yet another means to end if he was correct. If he was correct, they must survive. "Those ruins you spoke of, do you know if they are abnormal in any manner?"

[[ ??? || hopscotch chasm || Lark ]] The shade frowned slightly behind his mask when he noticed that the white-haired ra’Seirri girl had vanished already. It seemed purposeless to send her there for such a short amount of time, could it have been a mistake? There wasn’t really any way to find out more about the girl unless she reappeared again so he instead looked to the missing door, slowly waving his hand through where it should have been in case that it’s disappearance was some type of illusion. “Unless we were moved from our original location when we were brought back…” It would make more sense than the door disappearing- well, maybe not since they themselves kept disappearing and reappearing- but as the scientist had said, there were no landmarks or maps here, if they had been relocated would they even be able to tell? His eyes widened as he turned back to the strange path ahead of them and saw Viktor’s unsteady landing. Instinctively the shade darted after him, his form seeming to blur and blend with the surrounding shadows as he landed lightly on the next stone and started to reach toward the other blinker, pausing and then relaxing slightly when he was able to regain his balance. The shade glanced over the edge of the stone into the darkness. Adora had apparently fallen and then reappeared in the first room, but it was impossible to tell whether the two events were actually connected or just a coincidence without testing it again- which he was sure neither of them wanted to do. “I suppose that could be a possibility…” he trailed off as he looked up again, then briefly to his gloved hand. If that were the case… was it also possible that this wasn’t the first time he’d been used as a test subject? What could that mean? He knew he should probably mention it but the topic could be dangerous for him. Thankfully Vikor asked another question that was easier to answer. “Hmm, not… that I’m aware of. I was… maybe half mile or so from the palace in Old Kirro?” He paused, thinking about it a bit more. “It is the first city shades were found in on the continent but that was a long time ago and there’s so many theories as to how they ended up there…” It didn’t necessarily seem at first glance like there would be a connection but the more he considered it… was it so hard to believe that this place, with it’s strange energy, the dim lighting even in the first room and this shadowy chasm, could have some type of connection to shades? His golden gaze flicked to the path ahead of them, disappearing into the distance, the darkness that had appreciated at first starting to feel less comfortable.

Percival | Hopscotch Chasm | Chillin'
The way Percival blinked in was just ... sudden. And he didn't seem prepared for it at all. He just ... appeared and nearly fell over. When he regained his balance, he bristled, waiting for someone to comment. Where ... The ... Where was he? "What's going on?" he growled to the only other person in the room.

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm Varian blinked in, tossing a small, black rock from one gloved hand to the other. walking steadily backwards and speaking quickly. “So that would change the melting point oooaa aaaaoh man where’s the floor?!” He teetered on the edge of the stone, windmilling his arms to keep his balance, the rock slipping from his fingers and tumbling soundlessly into the chasm as he managed to get his balance back. He crouched and snatched for it, leaning forward almost far enough to fall in after it, but it was too late and he sat back slowly, pushing his goggles up into his hair. He was too preoccupied with the loss to immediately notice the change to his surroundings. But it did sink in after a long moment, and he looked up, eyes widening at the sight of… “Woah…what…where am I?”

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | Loki blinked into the House again, only this time they appeared in the room they'd seen ahead of them while they were at the door in the living room. Their arms flew up to keep their balance, as one foot had a tiny floating stone underneath, and the other foot had nothing, just empty darkness. They pitched forward, stepping on a slightly larger rock. As soon as they regained their balance they scanned the room, blinking as their eyes adjusted to the lower light than the desert they'd found themself in as soon as they'd blinked back last time. The man from last time... and a pair of strangers- a man with a goatee and a kid with a rock and goggles- er... just the goggles.

Vincent - Hopscotch Vincent appeared with his hands folded behind his back, reacting minimally when his surroundings changed. He did raise an eyebrow at the harrowing chasm beneath him - identical to the one he'd blinked away from last time he was in the House. His eyes narrowed as he looked over the others, surprised to see more new faces besides Percival and Loki, who he was standing closest to. The House was giving him newbies to work with again it seemed… How odd. He said nothing as he glanced around at the rocks, resuming the same naïve expression as before.

Percival | Hopscotch Chasm Percival scowled at the lack of response. He tried again, with more pauses and larger words, "What ... the hell ... is going here?" He wasn't at all sure if this would result in any results, but he would rather like someone to explain why he was standing over a pit. "Hey you," he said indicating Vincent. "What's going on?" He figured the calmest person here was the best to grill.

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm Varian slowly pushed himself to his feet, taking in the black chasm under him, and then the people dotting the other stones surrounding his own. He glanced at the man looking at him, blinking at the answer - did it count as an answer when it didn’t answer anything? He didn’t feel like it did, but then, he didn’t have any answers either - but before he could think of something to say to that, someone else appeared, and he started, whipping around to look. “Woah…” he said again, staring at Vincent, who seemed…less than panicked to have appeared out of nowhere. He looked almost…calm? Bored? He closed his mouth quickly, attempting to mirror his indifferent expression, though he felt anything but indifferent. He’d just actually teleported. Finally.

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | Loki took a step towards the group, one arm out as they balanced delicately on the balls of their feet. Frankly, they wanted to hear what was going on too. They'd been dragged back to this place again, so instantaneously that they couldn't counteract with their own magic. Their own magic. They wondered if it worked here. They conjured up a green flame in their hand experimentally. It flared up as usual; it was a comfort to have their magic with them. They tossed it down, watching as the green streak crackled down the deep chasm. It illuminated nothing- no walls, no floor, and eventually it fizzled out. But they had been correct in their assumption; it was very, very deep. They swallowed nervously. They hated falling. Ever since they'd fallen into the vacuum of space from the Bifrost, the idea of tumbling through nothingness with no end made them feel sick to their stomach.

[[ Viktor || hopscotch chasm ]] "This is certainly not a dream if you were already thinking that, but a scientific anomaly." Viktor scoffed, baffled by Percival's brutish pursuit of asking around blindly. Even if it was a dream, he still wouldn't like to be talked to this way, degrading as it were to be talked to slowly. The mouthy blinker was certainly up front, he'd give him that, but that was not in the interest of a scientist like himself. "Do either of you have names we could call you by?" An answer is met by a question. Thrilling, that would give him an earful out of the whole lot. It was a useless pursuit but it made some difference when the whole lot of them were going to walk this road for some time. He was struck with immediate concern when the crackle of flames propped up nearby. Viktor watched on curiously to see the flame flutter down from Loki's mere hand and straight into the unnerving chasm. The spark did indeed last but it flickered to a stop where Viktor could no longer watch. "How... how did you even make that fire?" A slight loss of words was performed by one of the more mysterious people in the room. There was an immense intrigue in the task committed, a glint of wonder in Viktor's golden eyes. "It is not possible to do such things from thin air."

Vincent - Hopscotch Vincent turned as he noticed someone gesturing in his direction, tilting his head when he saw it was one of the strangers. He looked around him for a moment, as if to see if he was addressing someone behind him.“Why would I know?” he asked calmly, though there was a twinge of defensiveness in his tone. He lifted his gaze to Viktor on the stone when he spoke, listening attentively. They were grappling with the basics it seemed. He glanced towards Loki next to him, who was another blinker who would recognize him from his previous blink. “Have either of you figured anything out?” He asked, looking over the side of the first rock as he spoke.

Percival | Hopscotch Chasm Clearly Vincent was no help. So Percival directed his attention at Viktor. "None of you know," he said simply. There was a light growl of annoyance in his voice. No one knew anything here. Fine. "Percival Winfred Regimald the Third," he said, which was stated with almost enough pompousness to warrant the name. And he looked down into the chasm again. "Where are we going then? There isn't a way back?" He'd noticed the rocks at least. Clearly they could be crossed. He jumped to the next one, looking a bit unsteady for a second before adjusting.

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | "I assure you, it is." Loki replied haughtily, flaming another green spark in their hand and holding it up for Viktor to see. They regarded the man curiously. His golden gaze reminded Loki of Heimdall. They wondered if he had similar powers of prophecy or sight. But it was also likely that there was no connection. Perhaps the golden eyes meant something different, wherever Viktor was from. Loki curled their fingers, letting the flame weave back and forth around their hand. Loki looked at Vincent curiously at his defensive remark. Why? It seemed that most of them truly knew nothing of what was going on. Surely the blond was the same... unless. Loki narrowed their eyes at him for a moment, contemplating. "Other than the fact that this seems to be reoccurring, no." Loki answered. "And it seems powerful- whatever's teleporting us here is doing so with extremely powerful and untraceable magic. Loki raised an eyebrow at Percival's long name. At his next question, Loki looked back to where the door to the living room should have been. Instead, there was just a thin trail of rocks, looking similar to the path ahead of them. "Looks like there isn't. So forwards is our only chance."

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm Varian had only barely gotten over from his shock at someone appearing out of thin air when someone else - who had also appeared out of thin air, though Varian hadn’t see that - was suddenly holding a bright green flame on their hand. His eyes, already wide, grew even wider, and he stared, transfixed even after they’d dropped it. And then he hopped on another stone, waving his arms to catch his balance as he began to make his way directly towards Loki. “How did you do that? Where did you get the copper sulfate, how did you avoid it burning your hands, are you wearing gloves, can I see?” He scrambled to another stone, nearly tipping in, but using his momentum to immediately leap to the one next to Loki’s. He looked up, eager. “I’ve been looking everywhere for a place to get it, but it’s so hard to find.” There were other interesting people in the room. But Varian only had eyes for Loki now.

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | Loki shifted into a stance ready to move as Varian barreled towards them, unsure if the kid would have the coordination to avoid hurtling both of them into the abyss. When he stopped at the stone next to Loki, the god straightened back up, running a hand through their shoulder length hair. It was fine. They hadn't been nervous at all. Of course not. "Copper sulfate?" Loki repeated, then scoffed. "I don't need such things to make an imitation of true magic. I have it. But... copper sulfate. That would be a clever workaround." They conceded, raising an eyebrow at the kid as he asked a barrage of questions. "It's mine- my fire, my magic- me, basically. Of course it couldn't hurt me." Loki answered. They let the flames sink back into their hand, melting away like fog on a sunny morning. Then they asked, "What's your name?"

Vincent - Hopscotch Vincent said nothing as the other’s moved their eyes away from them, though he subtly quirked his brow in annoyance that he was already getting grief for his unresponsiveness. As if that wasn’t his natural disposition anyways. While the others discussed magic, Vincent folded his hands behind his back and looked down the rock path stretched in front of them. He made note of all the names that were being thrown around, though said nothing to reinsert himself in the conversation.

[[ ??? || Hopscotch chasm || everyone ]] Once again the shade reappeared, dangerously close to stepping right off the edge of a stepping stone. Luckily he recognized the change in his surroundings quickly enough to stop nd take a step back from the edge. It was odd, he thought to himself as he looked into the abyss below, but he felt sort of glad to be there again. Hearing the others’ voices he glanced up and realized that the room was a bit more crowded this time. Not particularly something he was comfortable with but so far it hadn’t been going so bad and the poor lighting made him feel he blended in a bit better. He said nothing for the moment, just observed the other blinkers. Judging by their energy there now seemed to be an even amount of ra’Seirri and humans, more like his last visit than his first, where there had been several humans and only two ra’Seirri.

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm Varian likely didn’t have the coordination to avoid hurtling them both into the abyss, but that was only a minor setback. He didn’t want to fall in, of course, and his heart was beating faster than normal, another thing he wasn’t paying any attention to. He was probably afraid. But who had time for things like fear when there was someone who could create magic fire, and he’d just teleported? His eyes widened, and he looked up, blinking at them instead as the flames faded away. “Oh…I see! That…that makes sense. So it’s innate? Wow…were you born with it? I know someone with magic hair. Is your hair magic?” He blinked again, and rubbed the back of his neck, a slightly sheepish look coming into his eyes. “Oh…I’m Varian. I’m an alchemist! What’s your name?”

[[ Viktor || hopscotch chasm ] ] “And I am Viktor. A way back to Piltover, that is where you are from, correct?” Viktor spoke with uncertainty towards Percival. He felt it in his bones that this might have been yet another noble from one of the merchant houses from the manner in which he carried himself. “I am afraid this force is an odd one, there has been little time for comprehensive research.” Viktor longed for the day that resources would not be so scarce, that technology developed with such ease and accessibility. A moth drawn to a flame, if the moth isn’t careful it would be stunned and fall to its hubris. The potential of such an amazing power was sitting there right in front of his eyes and he couldn’t but to reach for it before stumbling back like a fool, nearly forgetting there was a void to begin with. In his place did another leap to the chance of discussing this “magic” technique. Viktor gambled on what to call the overly eager blinker rushing right past him to speak with Loki. He had no name to call the man in dark clothing, the one who had blended into the shadow so he called him ‘One’ for now mentally. If he ever wrote down his discoveries about this repeated incident, he may have all his credentials removed by Heimerdinger himself. He settled on calling Varian ‘Two’ and Vincent that of ‘Three’. Worth thrice the trouble than he is worth, Viktor subsided to be as brief as possible and did not bask in the attention as easily as Loki did. In the light of the bright fire, it would reveal Viktor to be a willowy man in a pristine but well worn university outfit, merely modest and the crutch that had served him for years well enough. He was merely a man. “Magic.” Viktor mouthed the strange word. “Some kind of energy? It doesn’t seem to require oil or coal. Interesting.” Fascinated, Viktor attempted to tilt his head, examining from a distance just how this worked. For all he knew besides his starstruck wonder, this could be a trick but it was frankly too good to be true. “I do not believe this, eh, room as some have called it, could have been built by a single person. Perhaps this magic has some warping ability imbued into it.”

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | "Innate, yes. But I had to learn it. It's not without sacrifice. And, magic... hair? Uh, no, I don't have magic hair." They reached up and brushed a raven lock away from their face, almost subconsciously. They were unable to contain their curiosity and asked, "Who do you know that has magic hair? What does it do?" "I'm Loki. And I'm-" a king? a god? They had just been defeated by a ramshackle group of humans. Superpowered humans, but whatever. They'd escaped with the tesseract due to a fluke. And now they were directionless. Who were they? Right now Loki wasn't sure. "-a trickster." They grinned, but it wasn't a nice grin. Loki saw another person appear- it was the shadowy figure they'd seen during their previous time here. So it seemed that the pattern of people reappearing here was continuing. They also took note of the names that were being exchanged. Percival, Viktor. They nodded at Viktor's suggestion- this room seemed to be on far too grand of a scale to be merely built by hands. The deepness of the chasm and the floating stones suggested the use of magic. "I'd guess that there's magic involved too. But whose?"

Percival | Hopscotch Chasm "Why would I be from there?" Percival asked, slightly puzzled by Viktor's question. "Where is 'Piltover?'" He didn't even know where here was, so how was he supposed to judge any of this mess. At least he seemed to speak sense. "Come on then," he said to Viktor. "Leave them to this magic then. Better to work out what's going on around here." He indicated the interspersed stones straight ahead. "Just have to ... walk over that." He was half watching Loki and Varian. And now the strange figure as well. He made no effort to great the new arrival. Too much was going on already. He was ... strangely disturbed by the magic though. He just tried not to show it. None of those sorts of things happened where he was from. So maybe here wasn't where he was from. He turned away and started to jump to the next rock. Better to get moving than make small-talk in a dangerous area.

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm Varian nodded, a more serious expression coming into his eyes as Loki explained. That made sense, in theory, though what it meant in practice, he had no idea. Innate, but learned. “Who do you trick?” He asked, curiosity winning out over caution. “Oh, uh…the princess. But not…I mean, she has magic hair with healing abilities, but…” It occurred to him in a very sudden way that this might have been meant to be a secret. Everyone in the kingdom knew, but… Was he even in the kingdom anymore? “So, anyway,” he continued hurriedly, leaving that behind and turning to glance at the others. Viktor, in particular. He pointed at him. “Yes! Energy. That’s usually what magic is, as far as I can tell. I wish I had something to test this material with.” He looked down at it. Then he went down on one knee, and touched the smooth surface. “It feels like…stone.” The other man was leaving, which seemed like a bad idea, but Varian was too preoccupied to tell him not to.

The shade tilted his head, frowning slightly as he listened in on the conversations around him. Piltover? Was that a country? He didn’t recognize the name. And the way they were discussing magic made it seem as if it was a unknown concept to some of them… Interesting. He considered attempting to talk to them and see if he could learn anything useful but wasn’t sure just yet, so he instead turned to the path he and Viktor had been trying to follow the last time and jumped to the next stone. He could see no end to the path but surely it lead to something.

| Loki | Hopscotch Chasm | "Whoever I want." Loki replied arrogantly. It was probably not the best course of action to announce that one was a trickster, but it would be known soon enough. It was in their nature, and back home- or, back in Asgard, which wasn't home; it never had been, it had all been a lie- everyone knew they were a trickster. And they still got away with schemes. "A princess with magic hair. Sounds like it's straight out of a fairy tale. What's your kingdom, then?" Loki asked. Varian seemed to be from somewhere with a monarchy, a place run more similarly to Asgard than Earth was nowadays. But then he was hurrying on with the conversation and Loki sensed a hesitancy to speak from him. "Wow, great observation. What are you going to tell us next? We're breathing air?" Loki rolled their eyes at Varian's comment. Percival and the shadowy figure were moving. Loki looked down the path, trying to see where it led. But the dim light didn't allow them to see all the way to wherever it was going. Well, the only thing to do was follow it. They took a breath, then jumped to the next stone. It was larger than the one they had been standing on, and they landed on it squarely with both feet.

Varian | Hopscotch Chasm “Aren’t you worried about telling people that?” Varian asked, his expression genuine. “Isn’t that like telling people you’re going to lie to them before you do it? Or…are you tricking me right now, by telling me you’re a trickster, when you don’t actually plan to trick me?” He frowned a little, thinking that over for a long moment. But there were more interesting things to pay attention to, so he didn’t let himself get too lost in it. “Corona! Have you ever heard of it? It’s a pretty big place.” The stone felt cool under his hand. He frowned a little, narrowing his eyes at it, and then pulling out a tiny jar and attempting to scrape a little dust into it for later analysis. “Loki,” he replied seriously, looking up at the trickster as he managed to get a little dust into the container and closed the lid. “As a scientist, it’s important for me to not make any assumptions. Otherwise, I could miss something important when I conduct my experiments.” He straightened up, tucking the jar away. “I mean, we might not even be br - where are you going?!”

It was interesting to see the House so… consistent. Something about this room was attracting a strange group, he’d have to tread carefully. Continuing to move with the majority, he trailed behind with careful, graceful steps. He glanced down behind him after each leap, frowning down at the deep pit.

[[ Viktor || hopscotch chasm ]] Viktor raised a thin brown eyebrow at Percival's puzzeled reply. "The City of Progress? Apologies, must have mistaken you for a local." A tad emberassimg but he could survive from this. He nodded however at the notion of magic as Loki just ommitted their unique alignment. A trickster, Viktor hadn't ran into one he'd like for he had been on the end of their tactics as a child. He'd rarely been at the hearth of the undercity yet a few hawkers and peddlers would stray towards the Entresol level. However, would it hurt to give them a chance at changing such a perception? "Just a moment." He excused himself, his interests splintering from both conversations running at once. He gave a little hand wave to the shadow, still unsure what else to call dark clothed figure. Just blinking in, it was oddly perfect timing. Interesting. "That energy though has properties I have never seen." Viktor eyed Varian unsure just how much he knew and who else was capable. He gave them both a hopeful smile, one that did not occur too often. "It seems to do the impossible but we assume someone controls it however how do we know if it runs by itself instead? An autonomous structure running on a wild magic, so to speak?" "The max amount of those inside the room have been six so far. Three other people have not been present since they were last seen." Viktor turned his back on Percival now if he hadn't already. The scientist relied on his crutch after continiously standing up. Thinking of that, how long had it been since he'd been standing? "Though I have my doubts this is the limit. Perhaps more will come along through this way but it look untouched since we first came upon this room."
