The two toms moved through the undergrowth, eyes wide as they would look at everything. Oliver couldn't help but to feel a tad bit nervous. He's heard of stories from loners, talking of animals bigger than the dogs that some of housefolk have. But, the cream-colored tom felt a little bit better with Mars with him. While the black tom was extremely lazy, Oliver was always surprised to see Mats put up a fight with strays that come by to steal their food. "Say, have you ever tried a mouse?" Mars questioned, Oliver turning his head in surprise. "No," He meowed, "Don't tell me you had one." Mars's green eyes gave an almost offended look, "Rude! But, yes, I have tried a mouse. Not as good as a rabbit." "What?" Oliver rolled his eyes. "You have never tried any of those!" "Yes I have!" Mars insisted, "Look, I'll catch one." Snorting, Oliver watched as the black tom slipped off in another direction. Knowing Mars, the tom was most likely lying to charm his way out of embarrassment. The cream tom then slipped after him, wanting to know if he was truly lying.

Having taken the first couple of bites from the pigeon Whisp happily pushed it over to Adder when he had joined them, apparently starving. "Here have some, there is no way I can eat this alone" she meowed with a chuckle. The tom was dramatic at times but she enjoyed it. It always seemed like the grey tabbys humor was able to tickle her funny bone. Waiting for him to pass it back Whisp looked over to Winter and Chervil. He had offered her some of the vole, and she was starting to seem desperate enough to try it. In truth Whisp worried a great deal about the blue mollys state, refusing fresh meat until now had taken a great toll on her health. While the rest of them were plumping up a bit, Winter doing the opposite and the dullness in her pelt was showing. Silent the felines honey colored eyes waited to see if today was the day. Finally to her surprise Winter took a bite of the vole and the flavor seemed to rock her world. Smiling she finally looked back over to Adder, tail curling happily. Winter would survive in the wild after all. "So we have all been so focused on the camp and now that it's coming together, maybe we should start looking to secure the territory around it. It would be wise to set claim to some territory that is big enough to sustain us all, especially when leafbare comes have a set territory could get us through easier than fighting for every scrap of prey with those that live close to us." Whisp had looked to all of the cats when she spoke and then finally looked to Chervil. So far the black tom had become an unspoken leader of the group, something Whisp was more than okay with. He seemed to be fair minded and capable handle the responsibility of it all. ใ renaissance I take it you were wanting Chervil to become leader of the group right?ใ โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Still bossy as ever, even after he was almost healed, Lichen narrowed his eyes playfully at her. Quick to his paws the tabby and white tom padded out of the den and after Fern. Once at her side he too began to scent for prey. It took him a moment and a step forward to catch the breeze and on it the scent of mouse. "Oooh mice! This way", he meowed turning into the wind and leading the way deeper into the forest. Silently he moved through the forest, limp mild enough to not hinder his pawsteps. As they moved he stayed close to Fern, his pelt occasionally brushing up again hers. ใ ~Skyblaze~ Are you wanting Lichen and Fern to come across the kit now?ใ

Hey just waiting on a reply from Ren with Fern and Chervil. I'm hoping that the idea of setting claim to territory will cause the group cats to run into ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ charries so they can finally join in with the group, or if anything interact with someone.

ใ Its as if you were reading my mind lol did you have a specific pairing in mind? We still have yet to have any elders... I was thinking about making a old healer tomcat to help mentor Winter. Will definitely be a temporary character. But other than that I'm open to creating anything ใ

Okay ima just go ahead and make him, he will probably die come leafbare but that's still a ways away. Boulder || Very old black tuxedo tomcat with a dingy pelt and one blind eye and the other is yellow. Has scars littered across his body and one shredded ear. Was once a very handsome tom, but sadly the days of his prime are far behind him. I'm open to him having descendants in the area

(I love that idea! ^w^ Winter definitely needs a mentor! I'm hyped to write them!
another idea is that we make some sibling apprentinces? I know Sky had an idea of making some younger cats and I think we agreed to make a pair and make them litter mates, you can make one too! I already had a character picked out.)

๐๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ thought maybe grumpy old Boulder could run into your pair of kittypets, might be a fun quick interaction โขโBoulderโโข "Hsssssssss" Frustration radiated off of the wiry old tom. Having just dug up a nice burdock root, his claws were now thick with sticky mud. A bout of hateful mumbling escaped his scarred muzzle as Boulder began to clean off the largest clumps. "Ugghhhh!" The growl was fierce as he tried to flick off the remaining clumps but the black tuxedos attempts were useless. What he needed was to go find a puddle or body of water to wash off in. Tail lashing the tom began to look around, and stiffly bounded off in the direction of the twoleg place. He knew of a big dip in the land close to it that usually collected a fair amount of water that would be perfect to clean off in. In his haste to rid himself of mud Boulder had left his burdock root, and had yet to realize it.

( here is the starter for our kittypets Sky. ) Rosey's paws dragged as she followed the white queen through the streets, glancing over her shoulder every few moments. She walked as slowly as she could manage, reluctant to She heaved an overly-exaggerated sigh, blue eyes burning into the back of her companion's head. "Snowy, why do we have to leave again?" She asked, tail swishing with irritation. When her housemate announced she would be leaving and moving to the forest she obviously had to go with her. Who was going to help take care of the kits? She was looking forward to meeting them so much, she wasn't going to let Snowy disappear before they were born. The young she-cat froze as they reached the end of the two-leg place and the forest loomed in front of her, only a rocky path separating them from the tree line. The trees were looking much bigger than she remembered and the forest was full of dark shadows. Pouting, she shot Snowy a desperate look.
Chervil purred, bumping happily into Winter's shoulder. "Yes! She likes it!" He meowed, grinning around at the others in the group. He was incredibly happy that she had eaten the prey because now she would be getting back her health that had dwindled over the past few days. He nudged the prey towards her, offering her the rest as he knew she was far hungrier than him. He settled back down, subconsciously pressing his side up against the blue she-cat beside him as his paws tucked under his chest. He turned his attention towards Whisp at her ideas for the day. "I agree, it would be wise to set solid borders." He agreed with the plans with a thoughtful glance around their camp. It had come together nicely as they'd worked on it and now they had to get the surroundings sorted out. "I think it might be a good idea to set a border along the twoleg place, to make kittypets aware of our territory so they won't wander into the forest." As he said this he glanced at Winter, remembering she was a kittypet not too long ago.
Fern scented the mice only moments after Lichen announced their presence and was fine letting him take the lead as they sought out their prey. She stepped lightly, ears twitching and jaws parted to concentrate on the prey, but she found it hard to focus. She kept noticing how his fur brushed up against her's as they walked. It felt nice and brought her comfort. Maybe she felt connected to him because she cured his infection when he was injured. She just felt comfortable around him and it felt so natural being in his presence, like he was missing from her everyday routine before. She tried to stifle the purr that was rising in her chest but it came bubbling out as her shoulder brushed against the tom's once again.
(( also I believe i added everyone's cats to the list of characters on the first page? If i missed anyone let me know and if you want a little description added I can do that ))

ใIn addition to Boulder, I also added Stag ^^^ post #224 ใ Whisp was happy to hear Chervil agree with her border idea. With the possibility of their numbers growing having a clear border would keep them well fed in the colder moons to come. "We should all go together, it would be nice to get out of camp with everyone. Plus there would be no confusion when it comes to where the borders lie after we set them. Sometimes visuals help better than scent markers, especially after a strong rainstorm." Whisp was hopeful that everyone would want to go together, she loved the idea of patrolling through the woods with them. Looking to Adder first with her big round honey colored eyes she hoped that atleast he wanted to join in. โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ The purr that bubbled from Fern as they walked together caused Lichen to cast his gaze upon her. How in the world did she expect them to hunt, if she kept distracting him like this?! Focus gone, the scent of mouse holding no importance, the tabby and white tom just kept his pace and carried onwards basking in the simple pleasure of the shecats company. Fern made it so easy to just forget the world around them, ahe had become quite the escape. Just then Lichen decided that he wanted to ask her to stay. It was only a matter of time before the hunt ended with him having proved himself healed and she would see that she services were no longer needed. But that was just it wasn't it. She wasn't needed. She was wanted. "Hey Fern..." he started shyly as they continued through the wood. "Wha.. Hmm.. Would... Uhh what would you say if.. If I asked you to stay?" For the first time the tom stumbled to find the right words. "Not that I need you to hunt for me anymore, it's just that I have come to really enjoy your company." He rambled on as a small fear that she would say no began to rise from within.

Winter gave Chervil a warm smile as he offered the rest of the prey to her, she didn't say it out loud, but her body language expressed her gratitude. She instead focused on the discussion of borders, a bit confused as to what the point of those were, but she knew better then to question these wizened forest cats. At the mention of the old two-leg place though her tufted ears perked up. Going back there would be bitter sweet... Especially if they were to go towards her old home, but that was deeper into the town, so she hoped not. There was just a lot of familiar faces she could see there, and there was a lot of explaining she would have to do if she saw them.
"That sounds good." Winter chirped, still trying to keep a level of enthusiasm in her voice. "I'd love to get out of camp, I've been dying to explore more!" Her tail swished happily, bumping up against Chervil's flank as it did so.

"Yes, we need to make sure no foxes or badgers have been holing up around us." Adder agreed, swallowing another bite of pigeon. The four cats had spent the past couple days working to get the clearing into an inhabitable shape, hunting only in the immediate area surrounding it. They would have to look beyond that now. He also had a wiggling suspicion that other cats lived in the forest, and he didn't want any unfriendly guests intruding on them. The gray tabby turned, his gaze meeting Whisp's, and he blinked warmly. "Of course I'll come with you."
Snowy let out a musical purr of amusement, swiping her feathery tail playfully along Rosy's ears. "You know, you didn't have to leave our housefolk to tag along." She meowed in response, though she knew the younger cat was just as worried for her as she was for herself. Snowy herself had a few misgivings. She had visited the woods a couple times before, but only the edges, and never for too long. However, this was something she had to do. She remembered how she had reacted with horror at the knowledge that her kits would be taken from her soon after they were born. Snowy couldn't imagine parting with her kits; even the very thought made her shudder, with a glance to her swollen belly. The forest was dangerous, but it also promised that she would never have to leave her kits. She felt a pang of gratitude towards Rosy for her determination. She had been surprised when the sheltered little calico, who had rarely dared to venture beyond the walls of the house, had insisted on coming with her. "Don't fret, we'll be fine." Snowy meowed confidently, taking the first pawstep from concrete onto soft grass. She paused for a second, allowing the ferns to curl around her paw, before taking another step, until she was fully in the forest. She took a few pawsteps forward experimentally, before turning back to look at Rosy.

Whisp could help but let out a small purr when Adder looked at her and confirmed that he would join the patrol. Pulling the pigeon back over to her playfully, the cream and white molly took a couple more bites before passing it back to Adder. Giving her face a quick wash she then moved to a tangle in her plumed tail. "Well I'm ready to head out whenever y'all are" she meowed eager to get out of camp and explore the surrounding areas. As she groomed her tail, waiting on the others, it was scary to think that a fox or badger lived close by. But Adder couldn't be wiser in saying it, they definitely needed to make sure their soon to be claimed territory was at the least predator free. Asking for it to be cat free would be a whole nother thing. If they were to lay claim to the area it would leave the cat who currently live here no choice but to join them or leave. Whisp hated to think of chasing someone from their home and creating an enemy, but it would be the best thing for the group especially if they were to survive leafbare.

Swallowing his last bite of pigeon and swiping his tongue around his lips, he rose to his paws and padded over to join Whisp, blinking reassuringly at Winter as she dug into the vole. The tom was a pragmatist, and cruel reality had shown him that cats who defended their prey would last out the harsh leaf-bare. Allowing strangers to hunt on lands they had claimed their own would only serve to have others view them as weak. As much as the others wanted to expand the group, Adder was more reserved in sharing his excitement at the prospect. Not all cats had the same intentions.
