"A kit?!" Lichen meowed in surprise. "Noooo, but I do like enjoy the little things. Life would be quite dull if one didn't enjoy the little things", he added casting her a criticizing look. Maybe it was a good thing Fern was in his life, she was the perfect kinda cat to show how to enjoy the little things. Not that she seemed stuck up.. but she was definitely more of the serious type. Right then Lichen decided that it was his mission to help liven up Ferns life. Flicking the walnut up into the air the tom intentionally tossed it her way in am accidental fashion. "Oops... you uh .. mind passing that back to mem" he meowed flicking his tail playfully.

Adder rose soon after, licking his lips in turn. "I agree." He meowed. "We should take our time with the name. Find something that really fits." Of course, he didn't mention his own discomfort with the idea of a name. Finished with the meal, he padded over to the rocky overhang to examine it more closely. It was large enough to accommodate 2 or 3 cats, but could easily be restructured to fit much more. The rocky tendril spired out like a claw, providing the perfect skeleton to drape moss and lichen over, further extending it. He gave a purr of satisfaction. This would work. Yet, he didn't go under the outcropping. He was used to sleeping alone for a long time, and wasn't quite sure if he felt comfortable sleeping around other cats just yet. His fur prickled awkwardly as he hovered just outside the overhang.

( Falconwing I was gonna make a kit who escaped an abusive twoleg home who gets lost in the forest. I was thinking he could end up bonding with Lichen, maybe look up to him as a big brother figure. Thoughts? ^^)

ใOH MY GOSH! YASSS!! Lichen might be awkward at first but he would definitely be one to bring in some stray. Especially if it makes Fern like him more for it "Nothin sexier than a man who's good with kids" kinda vibe.ใ

I'm throwing him in then, feel free to have Lichen discover him at your leisure! ^^)
The kit pressed himself tightly against the tree root he was gripping, fur bushed out in fear. He was an older kit, about 4 or 5 moons, with a spotted black and white pelt. He had no idea where he was. He had finally escaped that horrible nest, only to find himself in a terrifying and quickly darkening forest. His fur was shabby and littered with bruises, his paws hurt from walking, and he was starving. The tight twoleg tendril around his neck, shiny and hard, and of the same material as the fence, made things worse. He had tried to remove it, without avail. It was far too hard to bite through. Slowly, he let out a plaintive new, too scared and miserable to go on.

ใBefore I respond to cute little kit, should we time skip and start the next morning? Ending the night tends to drag out sometimes. Or maybe time skip a couple of days ahead or a week? If we do this then all the cats can have atleast a minor relationship established with each other. New characters could be introduced in smoothly and we can bring the dogs back into the picture without it seeming too forced.ใ renaissance ๐๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๊ค ~Skyblaze~ ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐๐

(Iโd be good for skipping the night! But I was thinkinโ that it might be fun to RP a bit of the fluff of everyone getting to know each other a little more? Maybe they can bond over building some of the dens and going on a hunting trip? :0 But they can be skipped if all of you guys would rather skip, I donโt mind!)

Fern awoke and stood up in the nest she'd made in Lichen's den, arching her back to stretch as claws curled into the soft forest floor. It'd been a few days now since she patched up the tom's wound. He was healing just fine, all signs of infection gone. She'd originally only planned to stay with him until he healed so she could make sure he was okay and didn't do something stupid to bring the infection back but after spending time with him she found herself thoroughly enjoying his company. He was a nice cat to have around, easy-going and fun, and she found herself being able to relax more in his presence. She'd pretty much made the unconscious decision to stay for as long as she could, until he asked her to leave. She hoped he never did. Blinking lazily, she looked towards where he lay.
Chervil woke up with a start, blinking away images of the dark forest in his dream. The past several days he'd slept better than he had for a while - his dreams were gone. No more starry cats with ominous warnings. He thought that it meant them forming a group was the right thing to do, but last night he had another one. It's not over. The cat had told him. Shaking his head to try to clear the echoing voice out of his mind, the black tom stood up and padded from the rocky outcrop where they'd made their nests. "Good morning!" He meowed, curling his tail and forcing his worried expression away to replace it with a grin.

Lichen sleapt heavily the past few days and the snoring sound that he emitted at the moment just further proved his current state. The infection on his wound had been absent since Fern had first tended to it, and by being under her care one might even say he finally filled out. Still tall, but the tom no longer had the lanky body he had been strutting around with. There was no possible way that the tom could deny that he had taken a liking to the tortoiseshell molly.
Soon his snoring came to an abrupt halt, probably cause he began to choke on his own drool that had formed from chasing mice in his dreams, and he blinked his green eyes open. "Ahhhhhh", the sound escaped as a huge yawn took over followed by him luxuriously stretching his front paws out. "Mmm", licking his chops to quickly clean away any excess drool the tom smiled and looked to Fern. "Good morning. My dreams had be chasing mice all over the forest, what do you say about going on a morning hunt with me? My claws are itching to make a kill, beside you cant hunt for me for forever and I think that my wound had healed up enough."

Having awakened early and gone hunting Whisp was now already back in camp with a plump pigeon and a vole to show for her exploits. The sound of Chervils voice caused her to turn her head to gaze in his direction. "Good morning", she mewed in a cheery fashion. "Prey is running good in the forest this morning. Care for a vole, or maybe some of this pigeon? There is no way I can eat this whole thing myself" the cream and while shecat added as she began to pluck the soft grey feathers from the birds plump chest.

The last couple days and nights had passed by for Winter at a snailโs crawl pace. The normally cheery and energetic molly had grown more sluggish and somewhat despondent as the days trickled by. Though she still carried herself with a degree of warmth, she lost her chirper charm. The blue molly had spent those couple days doing her best to become accustomed to the wild. The late summer nights were beginning to grow more cold with the approach of autumn. Her body not used to the dipping temperatures - or the endless sounds of the night. Winter found it hard to get any sleep when the threat of real danger was around at any angle. And though the barrier wall made her feel a bit more protected, her fear riddled mind couldnโt keep the thought of wild animals breaking through at the smell of flesh within.
She had learned how to make a proper nest, and while far from the comfort of her plush beds at home, she found that they were more comfortable than sleeping on the cold ground. Winter has decorated her nest with a variety of different feathers to try to recapture the splendor of her old home. Her appetite for prey still hadnโt pushed her to the point where she could eat. She had found that eating certain berries and plants was enough to fill her, so sheโd been eating those instead. But not having any proper food had taken a serious toll on her energy.
During those few days, the team of cats had succeeded in making their new home a little more home-ier. They had widened the gape in the bramble wall so that it wouldnโt prick at the pelt of even the largest cat, that of course being Adder - though it was still small enough for any larger predator to feasibly squeeze through. They had made the rocky outcropping that housed them a little warmer by lining it with a curtain of moss and lichen. And yet, still that spirit that had guided her before had no reappeared to Winter, not even in her feverish dreams.
The blue molly pulled herself out of her nest that morning at around the time Chervil had rouse. She shuffled past the curtain of moss shortly after the lanky tom, giving him and Whisp a meek smile. โMorninโ.โ She purred, sitting beside the lanky black tom. She rubbed one of her sleepy eyes with the back of one soft paw.

heck, lemme reply. idk if this makes much sense, but Oliver and Mars are now open//
Sitting on the fence, a creamy colored tom stared out at the land beyond his yard. Amber eyes scanned the territory, before he lets in a deep breath. Curious on what life was like out there, Oliver really wanted to leave the den that kept him from exploring like he did when he was little, but he couldn't leave Mars, the other tom that lived with him. Sighing, Oliver turned to see Mars coming towards him. The black tom's green eyes acknowledged him before he leapt up beside the other tom. "What are you waiting for?" Mars questioned, crouching on the fence before jumping down. "What?" Oliver questioned, eyes blinking. "You wanted to explore, right? Let's go." Oliver blinked again, before he moved to follow. "I thought you didn't want to go?" "I'm no traveling cat, like you were, but I like to explore every once and awhile," Mars meowed. "I like to lay around and sleep away my day. Maybe you should do that every now and then? You might like it." Oliver rolled his eyes, but followed the black tom into the forest, wondering what they could find.

(Yep everything's fine now! ^^ renaissance Sure you can start us off!) At the sound of movement in the camp, Adder poked his head out of the bramble barrier. "Do I smell fresh-kill?" He called before carefully extracting himself from the brambles. He made sure to sweep any loose thorns under the wall before padding up to meet the other cats. Having lived in the wild and providing himself for so long, Adder had thrived in the past few days. With two other cats to help with the hunting, all of the group remained well-fed, and Adder's pelt was sleek, showing the effects of it. He had focused his energy on reinforcing the small glade from predators. In the days since the initial discovery, he had made a tireless effort to gather stones and tendrils to patch holes in the outer wall to ensure that predators wouldn't be able to slip in. He had also continued expanding the outcropping, which now covered with moss and lichen, looked like an actual den. As the tom saw the vole and pigeon, his eyes lit up. "Those look great!" He meowed, padding towards Whisp with eyes filled with warmth. He had thoroughly enjoyed the cream she-cat's company in the past few days, and was repeatedly impressed by her empathy, perceptiveness, and the gentle way in which she helped others, especially Winter, who had looked a bit worse for the wear.

(I was thinking that a good way for us to introduce a lot of our kitty pet/loner/street cat characters would be if the main 4 had to go into the town for something? Like an idea is that the dogs come back, and they realize that the only way they can fight them is to group together with even more people, so they might go into the town to try to seek help from anyone who would give it? Just a thought! Trying to come up with reasons how new characters are introduced can be so hard lol.)

(( that's a pretty good idea! We can tie in Lord's cats as well as sky's queen and my girl ))
Fern's ear twitched, listening to Lichen waking up and getting out of his nest. A smile spread across her jaw, turning to look at him with a twitch of her whiskers. "I think a hunt would be fine," She agreed, using her tail to flick a stray piece of moos from his shoulder. "But if it starts to open up you need to stop." It was unlikely with how much he'd healed already, but she would hate for his wound to start dripping blood again. Besides, she wouldn't really mind hunting for him forever. She padded out of the den and immediately scented the air for some prey.
Chervil eyes lit up as he saw the pigeon and vole that Whisp offered him a share of. With the four of them all working together and looking out for each other, everyone had been well fed for the last several days. That is, everyone except Winter, who it seemed wasn't taking the adjustment to fresh-kill too well. It was clearly taking a toll on her - her once cheery expression now had a hint of exhaustion hidden behind it. "Thank you, Whisp!" He purred, picking up the vole as Winter settled behind him. He gently brushed against her shoulder and gave her a gentle smile. "Would you like to share this with me?" He offered, hoping she would accept. She couldn't go on without eating.

Winter felt her fur go warm when Chervil brushed against her. She knew the gesture was meant to be friendly - and certainly, the two were friends. But, she couldn't help but just feel all... Wiggly around Chervil. She didn't really know how to describe it, but over the past few days she had just noticed how nice he was. She really enjoyed spending time with him, with everyone, but she just wanted to get to know him more. She turned her sapphire eyes to him, then to the vole. Come on... It's already passed away... You need to eat, think of it as... As... You're giving him a burial. It's the circle of life, I'm sure he went fast and easy. For a while she just stared at it, leaving Chervil in an awkward silence in which she looked completely zoned out.
Finally, the blue molly gulped, and looked back up to the long limbed black tom. "S-Sure." Her voice was wobbly. "Thank you..." She gave him a little smile, resting her tail affectionately atop his for a moment, before shyly sliding it away. The former kitty pet lowered down and gave the vole a sniff. It smelled so warm, so mouthwatering in a way that she had never experienced with the kibble at home. She shut her eyes tight, heart pounding with a swell of emotions, fear? Excitement? Remorse? The whole package.
She sunk her fangs into the small rodent, and tore off just a nibble. It. Tasted... Wonderful! She lifted her head up as she swallowed, opening her eyes again and gazing at Chervil. "That... That wasn't so bad!" She chirped, a surge of her former energy back into her voice. She looked to Whisp, astonished at herself, then back to Chervil, still a bit star struck. "That wasn't so bad!" She repeated, her tail lashing. "It was kind of good!"
