The witch smiled in return and seemed as though she was about to say something else when a groaning came from the shifter stretched out on the couch. Peridot leaped to her feet and leaned over he friend with a worried expression, "are you okay? Of course you're not okay, you were just unconscious! What hurts? Is anything bothering you?" The lithe female began wringing her small hands as she waited for a response that Clove was taking painstakingly long to voice. The shifter attempted to sit up but Maleficent protested with a gravelly meow. A hand automatically lowered to scratch behind the feline's ear while the other propped her up slightly. "I'm fine but your incessant questioning is not only making my head pound more but annoying me to no end." Clove scanned the room, leaning to peer past the worry-wrought witch to see a stranger. Her eyes skimmed over him as she took in details about him and, oddly enough, her lips were parted to take in his scent. Her nose wrinkled, "I can't smell anything past the smoke," she grumbled in disappointment. Her attention was then grabbed by the fiery-haired girl handing her a glass of water which she dismissed. Peridot huffed in disapproval then gestured to the male seated across from them, "this is Shiloh. He's the only reason you're still alive, ya know?" Her tone was stern but her lower lip visibly quivered. Clove's eyes went wide, "I didn't mean to worry you so much. I-" she looked to Shiloh and respectfully nodded, "thank you."

Shiloh turned his attention away from the witch and to the shifter on the couch as she started to move. He perked up slightly, watching to see if she was okay from what happened earlier. She did take in a lot of smoke from going into that building. He relaxed a bit and was relieved to hear that Clove was doing okay, it was good to know that his rescue had made it so the other nightworlder was fine. He made eye-contact with the other shifter as she peered over at him, he could understand her wandering looks he was still a stranger to her. She could smell pasts the smoke? He glanced down at himself, I guess he hadn't really realized it but he probably did reek of smoke. He looked back up to the two as they started to speak again. "You're welcome, anything for another shifter." he said with a slight smile then took another sip of the water that was given to him.

"Another shifter?" Clove appeared a bit skeptical and looked to Peridot for confirmation. The shifter snorted in response when her friend nodded, "honestly, I thought you were a warlock with that dainty frame of yours." She smirked but gasped when the witch smacked her arm, "owww. Just came back to consciousness and I'd prefer not to be hit." Peridot scoffed, "then be polite," she chastised her friend. She turned an apologetic look to Shiloh before changing the topic, "so, um, you must care about humans if you went in a burning building. Ya know, maybe. I'm just guessing here." She waved her hands defensively with wide eyes, "not that we care about them or anything! I was just wondering..." The girl was clearly struggling so Clove interrupted before the witch could make a bigger fool of herself. The 'shifter looked directly at Shiloh, her gaze steely, "are you Circle Daybreak or do you want all humans to die?" She raised an eyebrow at the male seated across from her as Peridot's cheeks flushed. It was difficult to talk to others about such matters if they hadn't already attended meetings so it was a risk to ask any Night Worlder stranger such a question: it could get them killed if he decided to report them.

Shiloh frowned slightly at the other shifter's comment as he lowered the glass of water from his lips. Sure, he didn't look like tbe strongest guy, but that didn't mean that he wasn't a shifter. And he did have a little bit of muscle to him. I was the one that carried you all the way here after all. he thought to himself, but he kept his mouth shut as he listened to the witch as she attempted at changing the subject. He tilted his head slightly to the side at her words. She seemed like she wanted to ask a question, but couldn't exactly voice it. He looked back to the shifter when she asked the question for the witch. He was part of it, but if he said yes it could possibly be a problem for him. Looking back on the events of today though, he didn't think that would be the case. "Yes, yes I am." he answered with a nod as he glanced between the two of them. "Is it safe to assume that the both of you are part of Circle Daybreak as well?" he questioned. "I wasn't exactly the only one to go into that building and try to save that boy." he added as he looked to Clove.

Clove narrowed her eyes at Shiloh before looking away, busying herself with scratching under Maleficent's chin. The cat began purring loudly which seemed to put Clove at ease, the tension leaving her shoulders. Peridot beamed at Shiloh and clasped her hands together happily, "oh, what fantastic news! I was real worried there for a minute. You know how some of those other Night Worlder's can be -- so uptight about those dang rules that were made so long ago." Her eyes became wider than they already were -- if that's even possible -- and she leaned forward, "are you with any others, then? We'd love to accept more Circle Daybreakers into our small operation. The Council isn't around these parts all too much but there are still some that'll have our head for our beliefs." She smiled sheepishly at the male shifter. "I'm not a big fan of those individuals; especially that witch that fools around with all of the human boys and makes them go insane," she frowned, "last one actually got sent to an institution."

Shiloh turned his attention away from the other shifter to look to Peridot as she clasped her hands together and started to speak. He nodded along with her words. He could understand her relief in finding someone with the same beliefs as her. He knew some other nightworlders that still took those old rules very seriously, his parents being one of them, but you could never tell who they were at just a glance. He waited until she was done speaking before he answered her question with a small shake of his head. "No, I am not with any others, it is just me." he said to her. It would be nice to know more nightworlders like them, but sadly he didn't know of anyone else. He keeps to himself most days, and doesn't really talk openly about these kinds of things since he could possibly be killed for his opinions. Her comment about the other witch that messes with the minds of men caught his attention though. Could that have possibly been the witch that he met in the woods not too long ago? There was no way of knowing for sure, so he just pushed the thought aside.

Peridot beamed at Shiloh, "oh, fantastic! Please join our circle. We need all the support we can get." Her light green eyes widened to plead with the other Night Worlder. She had an inkling that she didn't need to do such a thing but it felt reasonable for inviting a stranger into the circle. "You can come by and see how we run things and connect with the other Circle Daybreakers. It's safe and hasn't been detected-" "Yet. She means we haven't been detected yet," Clove interrupted. A stern look -- one that might be given from one sister to another -- was given to the female shifter from the petite witch. The fiery haired girl sighed, "yeah, we haven't been detected yet," she lifted her gaze back to Shiloh's, "have you heard anything about the trials? A lot of Circle Daybreakers are being exiled and killed for revealing themselves to mortals and even... Falling in love with them." Her cheeks colored at the thought as she could personally never see herself falling for anyone; nothing against mortals in the slightest -- it was just how she was.

Shiloh blinked as the witch pleaded with him to join their circle. “Well, thank you for the offer, but this is all very sudden. I'll certainly think about joining your group though.” He answered her with a smile. He didn’t feel like he was ready to make such a decision right this very moment. Sure, he went into a burning building to save a human child today but to join a group of nightworlders that share his ideals was a bit different. It was a little out of his comfort zone with him being on his own a lot. And by the sounds of things, it was potentially dangerous if the group that these two girls were in had the potential of being detected. Although, running into a burning building was dangerous too. He had the feeling that he was going to say yes to their offer after he has had his time to think.
Shiloh nodded to answer her question.“I've heard a few rumors here and there from some people that I know.” Mostly his family who very much disliked the act of revealing oneself to a mortal and telling him many times not to do such a thing. “I didn't really know if they were entirely true, but they must be if you've been hearing the same things,” Shiloh confirmed with a nod. To fall in love with a mortal… He never really thought about something like that. He didn’t find it all that impossible for him though, considering how he viewed things between humans and nightworlders. His whole family would probably disown him though if he did something like that. Well, maybe not his brother...

Peridot popped up suddenly and hurried to the kitchen, "oh, where are my manners?" The young which fretted and ignored a crass mumbling from Clove; she turned to Shiloh, "would you like some tea? It'll help relax your muscles so you're not as sore later." She hopped from one foot to the other as the fiddled with her hands as she met the male shifter's gaze. It wasn't that she was nervous but more that she was filled with ever-flowing energy that kept her twitching, fidgeting, and babblin: it's what makes Peridot an acquired taste. Clove lazily lifted a hand but didn't turn to look at her friend out of respect for Maleficent whom had drifted to sleep on her chest, "I'll steal a mug," her tone sounding more casual rather than the razor-sharp effect it took on when first interacting with Shiloh. The female shifter peeked at the male, ushering him to answer quickly, before returning to scratching behind the snoozing cat's ear. Clove began addressing Shiloh without looking at him, "we have others that are just as wary as you are about our world's current circumstance. Be careful and you won't be swallowed whole like those pore people on trial." A wistful expression touched her features but it was gone as soon as it came, leaving only her default blank, stern facade.

(That's actually what I've been wanting to do since we started xD I thought it's be an interesting match.)
It was nearly midnight, according to the watch clasped around his wrist, and the impatience Rey normally felt during a stakeout was only growing and begging to burn with an accompanying emotion: frustration. The intel for the small hunter group had alerted him of an on-going human trade - something that was illegal even in the Night World. He bit the inside of his cheek and tsked at his own insufferable behavior, maybe I should look into a therapist... Naaa, he thought. Seeking any help would just uncover his work and the secrets of the Night World- like they'd even understand. Reynaldo's fuse was shortening right as movement caught his attention: a sleek onyx-colored car with blacked-out windows, headlights off. The hunter flattened himself to the branch he had previously been crouching on, now wrapping his limbs around it and watching carefully as the front doors to the car swung open and two figures stepped out: a tall and burly figure, the other somewhat smaller and lean. The larger of the two opened the back and slung something over his shoulder as though it weighed nothing, the smaller figure seeming to be acting as a lookout. Once they stepped into the run-down apartment building, he made his way down the tree and landed softly in the overgrown grass; I'll have to check for ticks once I'm done here, he noted but there was no time to dwell on that matter - he had larger bloodsuckers to squash.
(I was thinking maybe, during this mission, he becomes compromised and left to bleed out then Shiloh can find him or maybe help out in the fight - up to you, though ^^ )

(Oh hey! Sounds good to me c:
I feel it would be more interesting if he found him and decided to help him out, wouldn't want him to show off that he's a shifter just yet with some fighting, plus he isn't much of a fighter lol
Can you give me a bit more information on where he's at right now before I start a response?
Maybe as an idea on how he finds him is that Rey slips into the woods to get away and ends up at Shiloh's home or just near it?)

(Hmm lets say he's near where the fire was in our last thread of posts. Sort of the run-down side of town where it's easier to get away with some sketchy business. I guess to be more specific, he's on top an abandoned store, hiding behind the broken sign on top, and looking out from there. Fairly close to the woods Shiloh lives in.
Yeah, him running off into the woods and Shiloh finding him later or maybe following Rey after witnessing the action/fighting - whatever you think fits best for the rp and your character)

Shiloh stifled a yawn with his hand as he stepped inside his home. "I'm home." He greeted softly to the inside of the home as he toed off his shoes near the entryway. He didn't live with anyone else at the moment but it always felt right to say in the cozy cabin in the woods. He tucked his keys into his jacket pocket before shrugging the garment off of his shoulders and hanging it on the hook nearby. He took out his phone as he walked further into the home and quickly checked the time. It was well past midnight at this point. He didn't mean to stay out so late but he had the night shift and was a stickler for getting things done before he leaves. His boss won't be too happy about the overtime he is getting but he'll be happy that he was getting stuff done. He went and flopped down on the couch and let out a small sigh as he leaned his head back. As tired as he was he wasn't ready to sleep yet, and he had a feeling he wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight. He could sense something stirring tonight, whether it was good or bad he couldn't tell, but he sure hoped that it wasn't going to affect him. Needing to warm up a bit he picked up his head and glanced at the fireplace. "No firewood huh." He observed before running a hand through his hair. He could go without the fire and just curl up in a blanket but having it going after a day like this was always so nice. Guess he would just have to get some from outside. Standing back up and slipping his phone into his pocket he made his way to the door and put his shoes on real quick before going outside to the side of the house where the firewood was kept.

Sticking to the shadows was key, but it wasn't too difficult on an abandoned street next to the densely-packed woods, the perfect location for their illegal activity. The drone of a motor was his first tip-off before a set of headlights rounded the corner. The hunter dove for cover behind a dumpster, peering around the corner to catch sight of any nightly parasites coming his way or entering the hideout but it was too dark. Rey's ears began ringing from straining when they picked up movement within the building he was sheltered against. A barred window, far too small to even imagine squeezing through, was a head taller than Reynaldo; an old crate allowed the male to stare through and his eyes widened at the sight of bunkbeds with masses laying in each one. That's quite a lot of evidence, he thought as he reached for his phone to call in backup but something made him pause: a shift in the air behind him. Rey barely had the time to turn and block the lead pipe aimed at his head. Air hissed through his teeth and he clasped his forearm momentarily as it sang with pain from the assailants weapon, "I thought all vampires were above using weapons against humans. Are you scared, perhaps?" The taunt worked to his advantage as the bloodsucker charged blindly and didn't see the wooden stake until it was nestled between his ribs. The young man grimaced at the horrified, pale face that stared back at him and yanked the pointed weapon free, "parasite," he grumbled and began walking away. Screams chilled down Rey's spine and froze him to the spot briefly; the dying Night Worlder was warning his buddies and calling them right to their location. The hunter broke into a mad sprint for the woods but he was knocked to the side and felt something hard and cold connect with his jaw. Stars danced in front of his eyes but he saw the animalistic gleam coming from the eyes of his attacker before another fist connected with his temple. Rey was beginning to fade from consciousness as the weight on top of him lifted and there were voices - close but distant to his ears - and he knew this was his only chance. The young man flipped to his stomach and crawled his way into the woods with hope that they would leave him to die rather than coming after him.

Shiloh went to the side of his home where large bundles of chopped firewood sat, protected from the elements by a little overhang. He started picking out a few good pieces to take back inside with him, he would pick one up, inspect it for a moment and if it was good he would tuck it under his arm to take with but if not he just put it back on the pile. He was almost finished when he heard a scream tear through the night and he stiffened, almost dropping the wood in his arms. It was far off, near the edge of the woods maybe, but his trained ears still heard it. And he knew enough about the wildlife around here to know it was no animal he knew of that made that sound. But it also wasn't human either. He glanced towards the direction of the woods where it came from. He didn't see any movement for now, but he also didn't want to press his luck and wait to see who or what made that noise. If he could, he would much rather avoid whatever that situation was and not meddle in a Night Worlder's business tonight and any confrontation that would be tagged along with it. He had a long day, he just wanted to enjoy his fire, maybe have a hot drink and get some sleep. Was that too much to ask for? With that he headed back inside, making sure to lock the door behind him as he went back inside the cabin.
(Hey I know it's been forever but would you still want to continue this? I still find the characters and ideas super interesting :3)

Reynaldo's arms began to ache as he dragged his weakened self across the dew-covered blades of grass. Even though he believed his attempt to escape had placed some distance between him and his attackers, he knew it would be a piece of cake for them to pick up his scent and hone-in on his location. Rest... a lulling voice whispered in his head, and he couldn't discern whether it was his subconscious or a vampiric trick. His head pounded wildly where his attacker had connected his fist and he didn't need to feel with his fingers to know it was swelling; his skin felt taut and hot enough for him to recognize a decently-sized welt. Even through the fatigue and pain, Rey used a nearby sapling to raise himself from the ground. Once he felt that his footing was steady, he released the slim trunk and took two confident steps forward before his hands and knees met the ground once more. He growled in frustration, though it was more of a wheeze, and gradually forced himself back to his feet and zig-zagged from tree to tree for support. At this point, he was unsure of which direction he was heading due to his disoriented state, and the stillness around him did not ease his anxieties of being watched or possibly stumbling to a lonely demise.
His brooding and melancholy thoughts came to a halt when he spotted a cabin between the breaks in foliage ahead of him. A part of his mind screamed to rush forward in hopes that the occupant was friendly, but the realistic and trained half reminded him to be wary as he approached. As he pushed aside a low-hanging branch, Rey could see the whole of the cabin quite clearly: it was humble yet charming and a warmth radiated from inside, smoke rose from the chimney and lingered in the air amongst the familiar scent of night, but there was no one outside. I don't like this scene... There was something about the wholesomeness of a solitary, well lived-in structure in the middle of the woods that screamed "witch from Hansel & Gretel," but there was not much else Rey could do. Since the cabin was staked in a small clearing, there were no supports for Rey to cling to, and he fell once again just a few feet from the front door. This collapse sapped the remainder of his strength, and left the hunter defenseless to whomever opened the door.
(Sorry this took so long! Life has been a whirlwind of crazy )

Shiloh managed to get a decent sized fire started within the fireplace with the wood he gathered, causing the living room to warm up a bit. And with that he settled down on the couch, pulling the covers over himself and getting himself all cozy. He scrolled through his phone for a bit and when he started to get sleepy he laid down and resorted to watching the flames of the fire as he started to doze off. He was almost asleep when he heard the loud thump of something falling to the ground outside. He picked up his head quickly and looked towards the door. What could it possibly be at this hour? Probably nothing good.
He cautiously stood up and made his way toward the door, trying to take a glance out a window as he passed but he couldn’t see much from that vantage point. The front door unlocked with a soft click and Shiloh peaked his head out to see who was there. When he spotted the collapsed body at his doorstep he let out a sigh. “Oh geez…” He muttered to himself as he opened the door wider. So much for a peaceful night in front of the fire. And surprisingly not the first time someone has stumbled onto his doorstep. He stepped a bit closer to get a better look, they looked and smelled human albeit a little bit bruised and then muddy from a trek through the woods. If he didn’t have such a soft spot for humans he might have had the thought to leave him but his kind nature would never allow for something like that. He made his way up beside them and knelt down placing a knee on the ground. He reached out and gently shook Rey’s shoulder. “Hey, are you alright?” He asked his voice soft, shaking his shoulder again and looking for any sort of response from the human.
(No worries! I can understand that!) (Also did we want to do a, and they were soulmates kind of thing with these two?)
