As he bent down toward her so they could speak, as privately as they could, she found a smile spreading across her face at the bold compliment. Once again he knew exactly how to make her heart beat almost out of her chest. He thought she looked better in green than him? Anaris didn't agree with that one bit, he looked like he'd been set down by the gods themselves to grace her with his presence. Her face flushed again, "I'm afraid I have to disagree with you, I happen to think green is a lovely color on you." Her voice was soft, just loud enough for him to hear, "Though I imagine any color would compliment you."
For a moment, ever so briefly, her eyes left his and she reached out to touch a fold on his suit. It was soft and perfectly placed so there was no real need for her to touch the fabric but the princess just couldn't help herself . Pulling her hand away her face flushed again, eyes were on them staring strong enough that she could feel like burning into her skin. Looking up at him as he pulled her toward him a bit more she smiled. "I'd love to dance, I'm sure your footwork, in and out of a ring surpasses mine by miles." Anaris let her hands rest against his chest, she could feel his strength hidden within and his warmth that seemed to radiate from him both inside and out.
The two were in the center of the room where people danced, of course that wasn't by mistake in fact people had made sure that both royals were the center of attention in the room. It seemed that was going to be how it was all night, all eyes on them watching for every wrong move and every right move. Her eyes glanced toward her mother who was standing with Orson's mother still, her father had gone somewhere, probably to talk with some of his friends who had retired. Her mother surprisingly didn't look bothered by how close they were. Shocking. Focus you dimwit, this might be one of the few chances you get tonight to get to know him more. "Are gatherings like this as common in your kingdom as they are here?" She asked, trying to make conversation, not that her question had been the best one to get to know him, but if she knew more about where he was from it would give her some insight. She'd done some research but of course there was so much going on with war plans and he spying on meetings she wasn't invited to that she'd had no time. Between that and princess behavior lessons, caring for the horses, training, learning how to run the country, visiting with the poor, helping the poor, and more sparring she'd sort of run out of time. Well that and they didn't have too much on his smaller kingdom, other than just basic information on it.
Anaris wanted to hear it from him, and how he felt about things. Making things comfortable for him was now a priority for her, she wanted him to feel at home here as much as he could at least. Visits to his kingdom eventually would be a must, she wouldn't have it any other way. If it were her being sent to his kingdom she'd demand it be that way. Though she didn't think that would been needed, she got the feeling Prince Orson felt just as strongly about family as she did. No matter how annoying it was to be nitpicked at by her mother constantly, she loved her and would do almost anything... well.. sort of. Maybe not anything, but the point was she loved her mother and family and couldn't imagine not getting to see them because of a marriage to a stranger.
»Silas Payne
His head whipped toward her, confusion and shock painted on his face now. Nearly her whole life? She'd gathered all these books here? Amazing. "You? You gathered all these books?" He asked just totally dumb founded by this girl now. Silas just kind of stared at her, now this was the type of girl he''d always wanted. Even the book she was reading wasn't something he'd pictured her reading.
As she grabbed the book from him he held his hands up in surrender, he hadn't met to mess anything up, she so far was proving to make him a bit nervous. His eyes moved toward the rather large pile of books she had. How was she so perfect?
She was what? Stop that idiot.
His mother knew exactly what she'd been doing when she picked this one out. The little ditsy princess hid so much more within, hell he'd found her in a tree earlier and now here they were in the biggest library he'd ever seen and she was a big factor in the reason there were so many books. He'd have no problem being her for tears and years. And now. He could just see her now, curled up in the chair legs up to her chest and the cat beside her reading the book
The prince listened closely to her rules, they all made sense. If he'd had this many books he'd be the same way. Everything needed to be left better than before he left. He could do that. Wait diary? Planting by the cat? For a moment confusion set across his face once again. Then pure surprise as she threatened to cut off his pinky toe. As soon as she'd said he he snorted out a laugh and quickly covered his mouth holding back the rest of any laughter. Funny, shocking but funny. Scary, but still funny. he wasn't sure if she was joking one hundred percent.
Silas nodded at all of her rules, especially the one about no one being allowed in here. That was fine he didn't have any friends here. Well, he guessed she would have to be his only one right? They were supposed to be right?
She was going to be his only friend for quiet some time huh? "You have more word, Princess. And you don't have to worry about any friends." He shrugged his shoulder a bit, "All my friends are in my kingdom. You so far are my only friend here." Silas said quietly before clearing his throat awkwardly. "Uh. Anyway. This space and your garden are both beautiful, if I may be honest for a moment. You are more than I expected."

Orson
Orson couldn’t help but smile back as Anaris grinned up at him. His heart swelled slightly, warmth bubbling all over him like a lovely blanket of warm fire slowly consuming his limbs. He didn’t mind though, if it meant she’d keep that sunbeam of a grin on him and keep looking at him with those eyes of skies, clear and blue and deep enough to drown in. Really, he was drowning now. Have you even come up for air since you arrived?
He blinked as she spoke, focusing hard on her words rather than just staring at the way her lips formed the words. And boy, was he glad he did. At her quick and witty comeback, the heat in his chest spread to his cheeks as he flushed under her praise. His smile suddenly became shy as he turned his gaze away bashfully, dipping his head slightly for a moment as he shook his head gently in disagreement with a tiny, soft giggle.
”I guess this will be our only disagreement, then,” He managed, pulling his gaze back to hers quickly. At her comment, surprise flitted across his face before a slight smirk edged at his dimples. He quirked an eyebrow up, tilting his head slightly as the smirk furthered. ”Oh, so now you’re imagining me in things? Is that all you’re imagining me doing?” His tone was cheeky, though the faint blush at his own words betrayed his cocky exterior. He pulled her forward to him slightly, ever closer, fingers tightening around hers minutely. He stared as her hand came to his chest, holding his breath slightly as she smoothed over him. He cleared his throat slightly with a soft “hmm” deep from within in his chest, barely audible to anyone but her. He was certain she could feel it in her fingers as she lingered, causing his heart rate to accelerate rapidly. He cleared his throat slightly, blinking and looking away to regain his composure.
They were, after all, being watched by hundreds of strangers.
When she spoke, he turned his gaze back to her with a soft, shy smile and an even softer chuckle at her statement. He shook his head slightly, spinning her lightly away from him before guiding her close, one hand falling respectfully at her waist while the other remained secure around her hand. He grinned down at her, eyes glinting lightly with a spark of mischief at his graceful movements, waiting for her to adjust her hold. Then, he began to lead her in a gentle, standard waltz to the soft music of the live band, finding it easier to ignore everyone around them as they began to spin to the music.
”You flatter me too much, your highness. I’d imagine our footwork is about even, or perhaps yours is as advanced as your wit,” He soothed, spinning her gracefully once more before pulling her back to him as they started again. He was practically glowing, eyes gazing adoringly at only her as her dress fanned out in a flare around them. He followed her gaze to their parents for only a moment, giving a soft smile to his mother who was watching ecstatically. She gave a slight wave, and he grinned wider before he turned his attention back to Anaris, sobering slightly as he focused, carrying them to the tune.
”In my Kingdom, we are less fortunate than you are. A great sickness has taken a lot from many of my people, and gatherings aren’t really a safe option for anyone, anymore,” He answered softly, face hardening slightly as his eyes became darker, more distant. The air fell heavy between them as he took a deep breath, gazing down past her at the floor as he spun her yet again, coming to a halt as the music slowed. He held her for a moment, gaze finally returning to hers. There was a deep sadness, but it was evident that he was trying hard to quell it.
”But, thanks to your family, my kingdom will have more security from bandits and rogues, so we can spend more time helping the sickly. I remember the lively festivals from my early childhood, and now it seems that maybe in my lifetime we’ll actually be able to have them again. You’re kind of a miracle, Princess,” He grinned at her, pulling her hand to his chest, pressing it over his heart and gazing at her with adoration yet again.
”Enough about me, for now. Things will turn out! Let’s meet some strangers shall we?” He smiled, the sadness buried once more as he tilted his head towards the crowd, waiting expectantly for her answer.
Talulla
Talulla was a sucker for a good listener. The princess had spent the majority of her life unattended and unbothered, so it was refreshing to have someone listen to her with such intent focus as the prince was currently. It caught her a bit off guard, stomach erupting into a volcano of butterflies exploding up and through her limbs with an electric current. She had never felt anything like this before, and it was unnerving to say the least. She held his gaze, doing her best to avoid smiling as he nodded very seriously in response to her demands.
So, he listens, and he understands? This changes everything…
Talulla blinked, finally breaking their staring contest when he finally gave her his word. She gratefully glanced down with a small smile and faint nod, brown gaze on the carpet for a moment. However, as Silas continued, her gaze flickered rapidly back up to his, wide and focused. She was anything but rude, having been brought up with manners and, quite frankly, holding herself to a higher standard. So, she dropped her shoulders, arms relaxing into their crossed position to be more of a security to herself rather than a defense to him. She frowned slight as he explained that it would just be them. She knew what it was like to have no one; that was partially the reason she had Dario around so much. The little kitten was probably one of her few friends she had in this expansive kingdom. She glanced down, the frown deepening as she felt a small flicker of compassion in her chest where her heart was thundering along, a little more rapidly than usual.
Stupid butterflies…
As he continued, her expression smoothed back into the pleasant, though slightly dazed expression the princess usually wore. She shifted, arms dropping forward as she clasped her hands together, making herself appear more open and invested in the conversation. She blinked in surprise at his praise before a soft, involuntary flush of pink made its presence known in her bespeckled cheeks. She gave a small smile and looked away as the man continued speaking ,the pink deepening into maroon as she cleared her throat, feeling the heat spread from her cheeks down her neck.
”Well, uh, thank you,” She mumbled, heart fluttering as she stared at the ground. The silence that followed was deafening and heavy, weighing on her shoulders yet again. She stole a shy glance at him before looking away, wishing Dario would come back so she could have him help her process everything. She cleared her throat, nervously shifting her weight from one foot to the other before stealing another glance at him. She gave a shy, apologetic smile, hands coming up to her hair as she began to detangle some of the twigs and leaves from her hair to busy her hands and soothe herself.
”Sorry, I’m not very good at this. Most of my friends are animals, so they don’t speak like you,” She offered with a faint, shy smile to break the tense silence hanging like a suspended anvil above them. She stared at him once more, fingers gentle and sure as they worked through her blonde locks. ”But, I suppose in the spirit of being honest, I guess it’s my turn to admit that you were not what I expected; Though, I didn’t really have many expectations,” She continued. Her expression smoothed into a fairly neutral one, voice even with the sincerity of someone being honest and truthful. She frowned slightly as she found a knot, eyes crossing slightly as she dragged the twig to her eye level, breaking their gaze once more. She was tense and silent, focused for another long moment.
"You know, I think we can be good friends, if you promise to stop trying so hard,” She murmured off handedly, gaze only flickering to his for a moment. She gave a faint smirk, teasing and brief, but enough that he would get the message. Then, she set her focus on her hair and untangling the various twigs and leaves that had made a home in her nest of curls.

Only disagreement huh? A bold statement to make considering how stubborn the princess was. But for some reason, it didn't feel like he was wrong. And Gods his giggle, his literal giggle, made her the swarm of butterflies in her stomach completely loose their minds. He was just so precious, even if he looked the part of a solider and very much felt like one, the soft man behind the suit was anything but, she'd figured that out very quickly.
As the smirk on his face grew so did the warmth on her cheeks. Well, more like it erupted at his comment. Anaris laughed almost snorting as she quickly bit her lip and covered her mouth. A huge grin still very evident on her face as she held back the fit of giggles that threatened to take over. "Well now my dear prince a lady would never." She feigned offense though a smile still remained giving away her serious tone meant literally nothing. As he spun her, her eyes remained locked on him the playful, teasing smile remained on her lips. It was hard not to stare at the prince and she was glad he didn't seem to mind her fixated gaze on him. As his hands moved so did hers placing them accordingly. She followed his steps with ease, she'd been dancing since she was very young so it came without any thought really. A good thing too considering the only thing on her mind was the prince holding her close to him.
As his face hardened and he spoke of the state his kingdom was in the princess frowned a bit. She couldn't imagine gatherings being dangerous because of sickness. Concern spread across her face, that wouldn't do. He was marrying into her kingdom and would be apart of this kingdom now but his people, were still his people. Anaris took note to mention to her father the maybe their own doctors could work on helping heal the depleting kingdom. Still her eyes never left his as his had, she watched the distance creep into the deep brown gaze and watched it light back up as he called her a miracle. She laughed a bit, as he held her hand against his heart. "I will make sure your people get more than just our protection. Our doctors or some of the best, I'll speak to my father about sending someone to help on a more direct level." She promised, her face as serious as she could be, she'd make sure of it. A kingdom with no festivals or gatherings of any kind was a sad place and she refused for it to stay that way as long as she had any say in the matter.
With a small and slightly nervous laugh she turned to look at all the people around then who were also bringing their dances to and end as the music softened. Taking a deep breath she prepared herself for what was to come. Her icy gaze returned to him and a soft smile graced her lips once more. "Lead the way my prince."
»Silas Payne
The prince's eyes remained focused on the girl in front of him. He couldn't help but be totally focused on her, she was full of surprises and he honestly felt like if he looked away he would miss something. Honestly she was, so far, the most fascinating thing in the kingdom. In all his life(not that he is that old) he'd never met a woman so captivating, what was it about this beautiful, intelligent, unique girl that he liked so much? He didn't understand it.
Watching as her cheeks flushed with color he found himself smiling a bit, and getting nervous himself. He hadn't meant to fluster the poor thing. Silas just meant to compliment her, but then that had been his intention, compliments always made someone nervous. He rubbed the back of his neck a little bit feeling bad for making things awkward. His own cheeks dawned a pink hue, embarrassed by his sudden forwardness. Usually he didn't care, but he did for some reason now. What in the god's name was this girl doing to him? "Yeah." He laughed a bit, nervously not really looking at her now for a moment. When he did look at her he noticed she'd taken to cleaning the stuff out of her hair.
The look kind of suited her, it was cute how messy she was. Most girls in his kingdom didn't want dust to come anywhere near them. Which made walking anywhere a huge deal for them.He smiled as she mentioned animals being her only friends, "Honestly animals are better than most people anyway." He shrugged her shoulders a bit, his hand still resting on the back of his neck. His eyes once more fixed on her listening as she commented on not expecting him either. What had she expected? Silas laughed, "Really? You didn't imagine what I could be before today?" The prince was surprised yet again, he had try to picture her a few times, but he'd had nothing to base it off of. His mother wouldn't give him any hints.
As her eyes crossed he found himself focusing on the twig as well, she was cute when she focused. Cross eyed and all. He shook his head as she teased him and he rubbed the back of his neck again and chuckled. "I'll try to try less." The tall man grinned, if his mother heard him say he would try less the woman would have a heart attack, from either the shock of him have even tried at all or the fact that he was going to be even less interested. Her fingers moving with ease through her hair and all the little obstacles in her way it was clear this wasn't the first and he was sure not the last, time she had to get things out of her golden locks. "As much as I want to stay here, I think we have a ball to get ready for." He said finally after watching her pick through her hair for a little bit.

Orson
Orson felt his heart thump erratically as the rose blossomed in the lady’s cheeks. Never had he had such an effect on anyone, especially not on someone as gorgeous as she. Her small snort of laughter only furthered the feeling in his chest and stomach as the grin spread wider on his face, dimples deeply etched into his smooth cheeks. She was so beautiful, he felt as if he were suffocating, never quite able to catch his breath.
Not that he minded; he would rather never breathe another breath than be separated from her glorious smile. How lucky am I?
As they spun, Orson wasn’t sure if it was the spinning or her dazzling smile that had him feeling so dizzy and light headed. Perhaps a strange combination of the two? The feeling was like what he imagined flying to be, his stomach in his shoes and heart in his throat and limbs in a million different directions. And yet, he was acutely aware of every centimeter where the two met; every millimeter of fabric between them brushing against each other with electricity so tangible he could feel the static. He blinked, surprised at the genuine concern that flooded her face when he explained the state of his kingdom. Sure, he hoped she would care, but he didn’t anticipate her to be so worried for his kingdom.
It definitely warmed his heart, and touched him deeper.
His eyes widened slightly at her statement when they came to a stop, shocked at her immediate decision to help. If he wasn’t already so smitten with the girl, this would have surely won him over in a heartbeat. As it were, it only sent him tumbling further head over heels. Orson loved his kingdom—and his people—more than anything in the world. It was why he had come here now, and he would cross the ends of the earth if he believed there was a cure waiting at the other side. Yet, here was this lovely bride to be of his, already determined to help him with a problem they’d been struggling with for at least half a century.
What a miracle indeed.
He reached a free hand up to smooth a stray hair that had worked itself free back behind her ear, hand coming to hesitantly cup against her cheek. His thumb smoothed over the planes of her cheeks as he very so carefully allowed his warm hand to make direct contact with her pink skin. He held her gaze for a moment, his dark and intense once more as he struggled with a number of emotions, searching for the proper response to what he was feeling. When he found none, he merely gave her another smile and then pulled his hand back. He straightened, releasing her and then dipping into a polite bow before straightening, offering his arm to her with a warm smile, composure settling once more into his handsome features.
”Alright my Princess, let’s go meet my favorite duke—and cousin—first: Lord Damek* and Lady Eleanor**,” He beamed, excitement itching at his polite smile despite himself. Lord was really and truly his favorite of his cousins, and he very much wanted to show Anaris off, if even for just a moment.
Damek* meaning “earth” **Eleanor meaning “bright, shining one”
Talulla
Talulla did her best to ignore the flush that was spreading adorably across the prince’s nose in response to her own. It didn’t matter how surprising it was to her to see a man flush, much less the shock that it was caused by yours truly. She had no idea how to process this experience, and so she did what she always did with new information that she didn’t know how to process: she pretended it wasn’t happening. Instead, she refused to meet his gaze and kept hers secured on her blonde locks as she freed her hair from its braid and the twigs from her curls.
She did, however, permit herself to look at him whenever he spoke, and was glad she had. At his statement about animals, she paused, giving an earnest, fervent nod, sincerity etched into her features. She quickly released his gaze, afraid to stare too long for she was certain that the butterflies would start up again, and she was determined to avoid that happening at all costs. At his next statement, she paused, dropping her hands from her hair as she bit her lip slightly, trying to think of how to phrase her answer.
”To be quite frank, Silas, I tried my hardest to pretend you didn’t exist at all. I don’t mean any offense,” She smoothed, hands coming palm up to him in an apologetic stance as she tried to avoid offending the prince. ”It wasn’t personal, of course, as you’re much kinder than I could have hoped, but I don’t know if I’m ready to be married. I’m not exactly ‘marriage material’,” She sighed, making air quotations around the words as her nose scrunched up slightly in distaste. She rolled her eyes with a soft, exasperated shy before her attention returned to the particularly stubborn twig in her hair.
She gave a soft giggle at his statement, eyes uncrossing to focus on him for a moment, warmth emanating from her features before she returned to her grooming. She was quiet for a long moment, silent before she triumphantly pulled the twig free. She let it drop to the floor as she shook her head gently, dispelling the waves and running her hand through it with a sigh. She held his gaze as he spoke, her own warm and curious. As he spoke, her expression morphed to one of horror as she realized that servants were probably searching for them frantically, and their parents were likely to assume the worst.
”Oh my god, the ball!” She gasped, instantly crouching to the ground. She scooped up the small pile of twigs and leaves and deposited them into a wastebasket tucked under a nearby table, already a little full of similar items. She turned to him and grabbed his hand thoughtlessly, pulling him behind her as she led him out a side door that was hidden slightly behind a large tapestry. The hallway she pulled him into was dim and cool, and a small shudder passed over the small girl as she waited for their eyes to adjust, her hand still secure around his. Then, she moved forward, leading him along as the practically ran down the hallway. She didn’t seem to notice that she was holding his hand still as she pulled him through the empty corridor; a secret passage!
Soon, they came to the end of the long hallway. She released his hand, cheeks slightly flushing as she realized how long she had held onto him. She chose not to dwell on it as she held a finger to her lips. Then, she turned back to the door and opened it a crack, peering out. The other hallway was, thankfully empty, so she slipped out, shutting the door behind him. She led him down the hall before coming to a stop in front of another large, ornate door.
”This is where you will be staying until the wedding. My bedroom is down the hall to the right. Uhm, it was nice to meet you! I guess I’ll see you tonight?” She tilted her head slightly, uncertainty flitting across her features. She gave him an awkward, small wave and nervous smile before turning and darting down the hall. A small, familiar kitten appeared from the shadows and fell into step beside her as the two disappeared around the corner.
She burst into her room, untying her dress frantically as she made her way to the bathroom where Constance was waiting with a warm bath. ”It’s about time Talulla! The ball is only a few hours away! We have been looking for you all afternoon,” She scolded and Talulla looked away in guilt, swallowing hard. ”Sorry, Silas and I were just busy touring the castle, and I lost track of time,” She apologized and Constance sighed, shaking her head. ”Well, get in. You’re lucky if it’s still warm!”
And so, the two set to work getting the princess ball ready. They scrubbed her hair with warm rosewater, Talulla closing her eyes as Constance began a deep, conditioned combing of her hair. Her mind wandered back to Silas, mulling over their afternoon and the strange feelings he made her feel. She was nearly asleep, daydreaming of the garden and Silas wandering the maze with her when Constance gave her a gentle shake, ushering her out and to the closet. They wrapped her hair to dry it as they rubbed oil into her skin, lavender scented, to help her keep calm through the evening of strangers.
Yeah, Talulla was a little "shy" at times.
They pulled her hair free, combing it through again to keep it detangled while it finished air drying. Then, they got her into her ballgown. It was a floor length gown, with a tulle skirt. It was light pink in color, and was off the shoulder with sheer sleeves of tulle fabric, revealing her arms and being secured at her wrist. The dress had flower detailing along the bodice and shoulders, with small petal details interlaced throughout the skirt of the gown to carry the theme. She slipped into her simple heels, silvery and metallic in hue, and then they set to work styling her hair. They kept the slightly curled locks down, save for small pieces at the front of her face pulled back and pinned with a flower shaped hair piece that matched the flowers on her gown. She looked radiant and gentle and completely terrified.
”Don’t worry, dear, the ball won’t be too terrible. Besides, it’s another chance to meet Silas and get to talk with him better. You’ll get to dance with him and meet dignitaries from his kingdom,” Constance tried to soothe Talulla, who was gently stroking Dario’s head to try to calm herself. ”That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. What if I embarrass myself or fall or, I don’t know, step on his foot or something?” She stumbled slightly over her words, heart pounding in her chest as Dario mewled, pushing his head into her hand.
”Well, it’ll make for an interesting story for your children someday!” Constance chirped, pulling the girl to her feet, who paled at that comment. ”Constance please! I’m not even married!” “Not yet, you aren’t!” “Oh, god!” Constance giggled, squeezing the young princess’ shoulders before pushing her to the door as Dario darted ahead of them, becoming scarce. She led the girl down to the ballroom, leaving her at the door. From outside, Talulla could hear the music and chatter and see the light from inside. It looked lively and exciting and her absolute worst nightmare.

AWWW ok but Silas reading all of Talulla's favorite stories and her doing the same for him and they just gush over their favorite parts and slowly as she becomes more comfortable with him she just casually is more affectionate and just straight up is always touching him. Like they'll be reading and she won't look up from her book or make any to do about it but she'll gradually get closer to him through periodic movements until she just finally crawls in his lap and lays her head against his chest and just keeps reading and pretends it isn't happening omgggg so cute DARIO becoming more kind to Silas but still remaining loyal to his girl
horseback rides that turn into competitions bc she knows how to ride very well and knows all the secret trails and cheats constantly but he doesn't mind because she gets so excited and he's like "only for you" and wow I'm so SOFT AHHHH ]

»Anaris Vass
She had without a doubt completely forgotten about the fact that it wasn't just them in the ball room. He was so easy to get lost in and forget the world with and that was dangerous for the princess. Anaris was a busy woman and he was going to prove to be a huge distraction for her. Not that she needed any help she kept herself so busy she bound to forget something every now and then. Though, his ability to retain his composure might help her remember things easier. They would just have to find out wouldn't they?
Of course, when she had something lined up, especially something as serious as his kingdom and the sickness that plagued them, she wouldn't forget. In fact it would be a constant focus in the front of her mind at all times. At least till she had figured out a way to start making it better and that meant that she'd be pestering her father as soon as the ball was over and wouldn't stop till he saw fit to listen to her. That was how she got what she wanted him with. Relentless convincing till he got mad and gave in just to shut her up.
The same feelings Orson felt as the danced bubbled within the princess, she found that she almost needed his strong guidance to keep her from feeling like her legs were going to give out from under her. Even after they stopped dancing and were just looking at each other after her promise she felt like she every part of her body was being controlled by the frenzied butterflies in her stomach. As his hand moved to tuck the disobedient strand of her the red flush to her cheeks came back in less than seconds. Her eyes were locked with his and she found that she was frozen where she was, for a moment everything even the butterflies in her stomach stopped. The only feeling was the warm in her chest, cheeks and the warmth that his hand provided. Without any thought her eyes drifted to his lips and lingered and her mind wandered.
As he pulled his hand and shortly after the rest of himself away from the woman her eyes snapped back to his eyes. She returned the politeness curtsying for a moment, really it was more of a moment for her to calm her racing heart and take a deep breath. Clearing her throat softly she took his arm and offered a soft smile. Good idea, smart easy, family was easy right? And his favorite cousin shouldn't be too overwhelming. At least she hoped not. As they made there way off the dance floor she followed his steps with ease even though his legs were longer than hers. She'd learned to keep up with those taller then herself and there were many.
There were all kinds of people, and there was actually what seemed like a small clumped line waiting to speak with the two that had started to form after the song. That wasn't nerve wracking at all or anything. It would be fine, they could do this. The first test of how well they'd rule and just exist together was this. After all the people would always have questions and requests of their royals as well as high expectations. If they could do this they would be fine. "Favorite cousin?" She asked softly. "It would be an honor to meet a person who has earned that title."
»Silas Payne
Silas, she'd used his name and it sent a shiver down his spine. He'd heard his name thousands of times. Why was the way she said it any different. Her words took him a bit by surprise, not offense but surprise, pretending things didn't exist was his thing. She had tried to pretend he didn't exist. Well that wasn't going to do. He wasn't used to that at all. Nor did he like it all that much. Of course he understood it, a stranger coming into her home and she was just expected to marry him with only a week to learn if they would even be compatible and even if it didn't work they were stuck with each other at least for the sake of his people. He brought his hand to his lip, rubbing her with his thumb as he listened to her as she explained herself and he laughed a bit. "Honestly Princess Talulla, I don't think I'm exactly marriage material either. I guess we will just figure it out together." The silence between them was comfortable, at least more so than it had been before this castle exploration.
Her sudden touch made his eyes widen, though he didn't have much time to react as she with some decent amount of strength pulled him along with her. A Secret passage? Sure his castle had some of those but it made him wonder how many this one had. And how often the freckled beauty used them. It took a minute for his eyes to adjust to the dark, but he found himself wrapping his fingers around her hand not wanting to loose her and in turn get lost himself. Though it wouldn't have been hard to keep up with her at all, but the whole hand holding thing had whipped any logic from his mind in the moment. Once at the end of the hall his felt her pull her hand away and could faintly see her hold her finger up to her lips. Silas leaned in trying to see out of the small crack himself. It was empty, and he was easily peaking over the shorter flower before him.
Looking at the door now before them he felt, disappointment? Not because the door exactly, but sort of. It meant their time, at least for now was over. And they'd been unsupervised so it had been easier to open up with out the watchful eyes of their parents glued to them. Though he had a feeling with this particular woman, more often than not they'd be alone considering she was prone to wandering. As she dismissed herself he smiled, following her directions to her room with his eyes for a moment. "Uh, Yeah, I'll see you tonight princess." He said bowing a bit and then waving just as awkwardly accompanied by an awkward chuckle.
Once the girl was gone he went into his room and was greeted by unfamiliar servants. The prince didn't say much and let them take him to the bath were he was going to make himself more presentable. It had been a bit since he'd had a proper shower considering they had just arrived. Thinking about it, he was slightly embarrassed, though the princess had been as much of a mess if not more so he calmed down a bit. How was it so easy for her to make him feel like this? No woman before her had made him so, focused on her and her alone. Was this going to last though was the real question or would she bore him soon? He doubted that, she was too, for lack of a better word, odd. Letting himself relax the prince let his mind wander the imagine of the messy golden hair filling his mind. the faint scent of herbs and wood filled his noise pulling him from the fascinating princess in the tree. Oils were being rubbed into his skin gently, when had he gotten out of the bath? Never mind when it was time to pick his suit.
There were a few picked out, the was a gold detailed one that he wasn't going anywhere near, it was way too fancy and looked like it was going to be uncomfortable. So it was between maroon and the pale blue and black one. What would the princess like? His eyes narrowed for what felt like forever. Blue. The blue one, it made him think of the sky or a pretty blue flower and that made him think of her.
He got dressed and followed the man outside his door to the ballroom. Socializing, great. He'd have to care a little, that was going to be hard, but at least he'd have Talulla near him so he'd have something to keep his attention on what was going on. Well, sort of. He was sure she'd be all over the place that had proved to be her thing. Getting to the doors his he could hear It was crowded, too crowded. He didn't like it, how boring. His eyes found the princess and as soon as they landed on her his breath cough in his chest as it had earlier when he'd choking on his own air. Though this time he was able to stop that from happening but his intense green gaze was locked on her as he stood their silent for a moment. He cleared his throat to let her know he was there since she seemed a bit caught up in her own world.
Silas stood up straight, the suit fit him like a glove, the inner sections were black silk and the main color was the pale cloudy blue color he'd thought she'd like, everything was in place minus the first few buttons. He'd refused to have them buttoned. In fact he'd unbuttoned them several times in his room and once more going down the hall after he gave into the servants who'd insisted on it being proper. He didn't do proper. His hair was pulled back, combed and tied with a ribbon that match the suit keeping the shoulder length hair out of his face and neat. "Forgive this next rather blunt statement but. You look beautiful." He said not really looking at her, he couldn't honestly. She put every flower in her garden to shame in that dress. Even from where he stood, the scent of roses and lavender washed over him like a calming ocean that was very quickly drowning the dark haired prince. Once again he cleared his throat a little, "I mean, your dress, very suiting for you.." He paused to laugh very nervous, " Though I think if it was tied like the one from earlier it would be even better." Silas tried to defuse the nervous energy that had consumed him as soon as he'd seen her. "Shall we go in and pretend like we know what we are doing?" The prince said offering her his hand stepping closer to her as he did.
It would be like in the stories, smile, wave, nod. Boring things but he could do it. Not that'd be be showing much interest, but that was expected of the prince. Not much interested him ever. Not till the intoxicating blossom that was to be his wife that was.

Orson
Orson grinned down at the lovely princess as she curtseyed, unable to keep himself entirely in check as he soaked in her beautiful appearance yet again. He couldn’t get over how graceful and delicate and gentle she looked in this moment, nor how kind or compassionate she genuinely was. Her heart was probably his favorite part of her thus far, followed closely by her mind. He was completely engulfed into puppy love, and was so eager to get to know her better.
But for now, that would all have to wait, as she linked her arm through his. He gave a warm chuckle, the sound rumbling deep in his chest and tugged her ever so slightly closer with a friendly, though forward, wink. He pressed a hand over hers, then started moving forward, footsteps slowing subconsciously to make it easier for her to keep up. Not that she needed help; but he was a gentleman, and would do anything to make her life easier if he could.
As they walked, he tilted his head to her slightly to listen better, giving another precious giggle despite himself as he shook his head gently, eyes bright as he glanced down at her.
”Oh, sure, but don’t tell my other cousins, okay? Damek and I just happened to grow up a lot closer than most of my other cousins. He’s honestly closer to another brother,” He admitted, gaze fond and gentle as he looked over at the couple, Damek waving energetically.
It was clear to see that Damek and Eleanor were practically designed for their names which they totally were. Damek was tall and dark, with chocolatey skin darker than Orson’s and bright green eyes framed by long, dark lashes. He was a barrel chested man, and there was no mistaking the resemblance between him and his smaller cousin. Beside him was a beautiful woman, tall and stately, nearly reaching his height without heels. Eleanor was slender and elegant, and her fair skin was radiant and glowed slightly. Her eyes were a piercing amber, rich and warm, like little golden rays of sun peering down at you from equally dark and long lashes. Everything about her was elongated, though delicate, whereas Damek was sturdy like a tree trunk. The two made an interesting, though fitting pair.
”Orson! I thought you would keep us waiting forever! Come here little man,” Lord Damek greeted, pulling Orson from Anaris’ grasp and into a tight hug. Orson grasped him back firmly and the two grunted, squeezing each other as tight as they could before simultaneously tapping out with a burst of loud laughter from Damek and a softer, melodious chuckle in harmony from Orson. The younger prince was beaming up at his older cousin with an expression that mirrored that of a small child staring up at their idol. It was clear to see that the two were best friends, and very, very important to the other.
”Sorry about that dear, they’re always like this. It took a little getting used to for me,” Lady Eleanor chimed into the fray, bending her head down slightly to speak to Anaris and laying a comforting hand on the shorter girl’s shoulder. She gave a gentle squeeze accompanied with a bright, radiant smile, eyes glittering warmly. Lord Damek turned then to Anaris, bowing deeply at the waist in greeting.
”My apologies, miss. Orson and I haven’t seen each other in many a moon,” He apologized, and Orson snorted, rolling his eyes and playfully pushing the man’s shoulder, causing Damek to stagger a bit. Damek playfully narrowed his eyes, straightening and grabbing Orson in a chokehold. The two scrambled for a moment before Lady Eleanor politely cleared her throat, eyes narrowing ever so slightly. The boys instantly separated, both looking properly ashamed of their overly rowdy and friendly behavior.
”My apologies, Lady Eleanor. You are looking lovely as ever,” Orson flattered, bending politely to the elegant woman. Eleanor laughed warmly, releasing Anaris to take Orson’s hand between hers and squeezing as well. ”All is forgiven if you introduce us properly to this lovely woman!” Orson beamed as Eleanor released him, turning to smile adoringly at Anaris.
”Damek, Eleanor, this is my beautiful, radiant, gorgeous, funny, intelligent, daring bride to be, Princess Anaris,” He introduced. Both Lord Damek and Lady Eleanor bowed/curtseyed in response. Orson straightened slightly as he introduced her, chest swelling faintly with pride, eyes bright and glowing as he grinned from ear to ear. Damek and Eleanor straightened, smiling as Orson gracefully loped arms once more with Anaris.
”She is everything you have described and more,” Lady Eleanor agreed, and Lord Damek nodded in support. ”So, lovebirds, are you nervous for the big day?” Damek asked, eyes focused on Anaris. Orson turned his gaze down to her, waiting to hear her response, curious himself.
Talulla
Talulla was left alone to wait for her prince, leaving her with nothing but her thoughts and her pounding heart. Wow, thank you sooo very much Cosntance. She took a shaky breath, feeling sweat start to cling to her hands, clammy and gross. She nervously rubbed them along her skirt, ignoring Constance yelling at her in her head. Maybe if you hadn’t left me alone with only my thoughts before visiting the entire kingdom, I wouldn’t be so sweaty and nervous! She blinked, focusing in on said thoughts. Her mind, of course, was still thinking of Silas. She had played over their entire afternoon together at least four times now, if not more. She blinked staring off as she let herself fall over it yet again, trying desperately to understand everything.
What did he mean he wasn’t marriage material either? She had pondered over this statement for a while now, ever since he had said it. For her, it was very blatantly clear that she wasn’t marriage material; rugged, too muscular, impolite, brash, too honest, too unfocused, too plain, etc. The list went on and on, clear as day. But Silas? He was tall, strong, handsome, well read, polite, clever, well mannered, and a perfect prince and king to be. Not to mention, his communication skills! He never seemed to stumble over a thought or feeling around her; it was unnerving to see someone so perfect when she herself was not. What could he mean by his statement? What was he hiding beneath the surface that made him so certain he wasn’t enough? You’re thinking too hard about this, move on!
She blinked then, flushing slightly as she recalled holding his hand. You absolute moron!! God, could she have been more impolite?! Snatching his hand without his consent, and then continuing to hold it? But wait, he’d held it back! And it had felt extremely… nice. His fingers had been warm, his hand sturdy and secure, and it left her rooted and focused as she had led him along. He had held it willingly, and seemed almost reluctant to let go. She had never felt such electricity or security all at once, and even now the heat in her cheeks betrayed how much she couldn’t stop thinking of it, or wishing he would hold her hand again. Maybe the rest of you too… NO. You must be a proper lady tonight! It’s very important that—
She was interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat. She blinked once more, focusing as she turned to face the familiar noise. And then, she froze. Nothing could have prepared her for this moment; Silas was, somehow, even more perfect than before. The suit hugged every inch of his body just so, the silk material soft and inviting. He had unbuttoned a few buttons, cheekily teasing her with his clavicles. He was freshly groomed, his luscious locks tied up with a bow in a way that was somehow more beautiful than she could ever hope to be. There was no way she could handle being beside him all night while he looked so perfectly the part, and she stuck out like a sore thumb!
And yet, they had to do exactly that.
She swallowed hard, cheeks flushing tomato red as he complimented her, dropping her gaze as the color rushed down her neck and exposed upper chest and shoulders, painting the girl into a lovely tomato. Oh god, you’re going to be like this all night at this rate! She swallowed hard, nervously tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear as it escaped once more. She gave a soft, nervous giggle, betraying how anxious and uncomfortable she felt inside the dolled up exterior. She quirked an eyebrow up at his ungraceful stammering, a hint of humor ghosting across her features.
”Surely you’re not nervous, your highness?” She teased, voice warm and bubbly despite herself as she relaxed, the color dulling into a much more acceptable rosy hue. ”You, with your perfect manners and silver tongue in a stately suit like that cannot possibly be nervous, right?” She furthered, feeling the heat grow in her cheeks, but did not stop her bold statements and teasing grin.
”Because if you’re nervous, then I’m…I’m…well, terrified,” She admitted, looking away in embarrassment, swallowing hard and crossing her arms nervously across her body once more: a familiar soothing gesture for the girl. She blinked at his joke, eyes widening in surprise and discomfort melting as a laugh bubbled free despite herself. She grinned at his comment, shaking her head and giggling slightly, trying to reign it in, but imagining herself entering the ball dressed as she had been this afternoon had definitely tickled her pink. It helped to soothe her nerves, and made her relax slightly, shoulders dropping a bit.
”Yeah, I’m pretty good at pretending. Although, my dancing is hard to fake. Sorry, in advance,” She warned, mischief glinting in her gaze as she stepped forward, hesitating slightly. She took a deep, stuttering breath, reaching a still slightly shaking hand out to take his, fingers curling around his politely, uncertainty riddled in her features. ”Ok brave prince, lead the way into battle,” She muttered, slightly under her breath, almost as if she weren’t talking directly to him. Yeah, she was definitely still very much so terrified, but having Silas here surprisingly made her less afraid. Funny how that works out, isn’t it?

I love cali so much like it was absolutely gorgeous and you just get a slice of everything like BAM mountains BAM trees BAM city BAM forest BAM beach!! all there wow hehehehe
constance is so ready for little ones it's unREAL and like she is so for it but they can barely hold hands consciously without one of them completely becoming a bumbling M E S S hehehe and also Talulla using constance's distraction to jump up and latch onto his arm, jerking down and knocking the book free and she catches it and scampers off, scrambling up the shelving without the ladders (much to Constance's worry and dismay) as she scrabbles up to a higher platform and Silas is like !! excuse me IMMEDIATELY and is darting after her up the ladders and they're laughing and constance's heart is full again bc Talulla hasn't laughed like that in years oh my god
I don't like rides much! I prefer to people watch so I just hold everything while everyone rides, mainly; so while I'm waiting I was writing hehe C:< is universal CLOSED ?? I thought everything reopened, so long as you wear a mask and there are plenty of hand sanitizer/handwashing stations around ?????
you're amazing and I love them so much omg anyway there's Talulla bc orson is going to take a while since I am introducing two new characters which means I have to figure out how to describe what I am picturing in my brain lol ]

»Anaris Vass
As they made there way to his cousin she felt herself getting a bit nervous, was she going to embarrass herself? Oh gods she hoped not. "I'll keep your secret I promise." Anaris laughed a little as they got closer to their goal. Her eyes landed on the couple they were headed straight toward, wow, they were perfect. Both of the pair was the epitome of regal strength. Though the excited wave from the duke brought a small smile to her lips, excitability seemed to be a family trait. Seeing the other reach for the prince on her arm she made sure she let go so she wasn't going to get dragged with him. Seeing the two hug made her heart fuzzy, how sweet their little display of love was. Almost like they were each trying to squeeze the life out of the other.
Blue eyes turned resting on the taller woman and a small nervous laugh escaping her as she was informed this was going to be the usual way the both of them greeted each other. "Its sweet. I'm sure it won't be too hard to get used to as long as i can manage to not get caught between." Anaris joked, though with the way they were grasping on to each other she would have popped. Between the man's bow the sudden headlock and the almost instant shame that crossed their faces Anaris barely had time to process anything that had just happened.
Her smile had yet to leave her lips as she watched them, it warmed her heart to watch Orson light up the way he did around his cousin. It was clear to see he admired him and felt very at home beside the other. Even in a huge room with all eyes on them they still acted like children. She loved it. Anaris curtsied returning the politeness, "No need to apologize, in fact I'd love to see the ball room turned wrestling arena." The woman waved her hand, she'd never have it any other way. If that was how they showed they missed each other she supported it wholeheartedly.
Her face flushed as he gave her a new, longer, and far more flattering title as he introduced her to them finally. Anaris couldn't help but laugh nervously and gently touch the necklace around her neck for comfort. She again curtsied as they did, and straightened looking at the prince. " An honor to meet both of you." She said looking at the duke and duchess before them. "I don't think I've had an introduction that elaborate ever." The princess teased as she took his arm once more.
The big day? That was right, it was only days away at this point. She'd almost forgotten they were getting married so soon. She looked up at Orson for a moment before answering, again a soft smile spreading across her face as she looked at him. "Honestly, nervous doesn't even begin to describe it. But," She paused her eyes meeting Damek's green orbs that had focused in on her. "After finally getting to meet Orson, I don't feel nervous anymore." Anaris laughed a little now that she thought about it, "Actually, I think I'm excited for it." She admitted, honestly she just hoped he felt the same way. Before meeting him she'd dreaded the thought of an arranged marriage but, as long as it was to him, she would be happy.
»Silas Payne
Watching the princess turn to face him forced the prince's head further under the ocean that was officially drowning him. He almost couldn't breath as he watched the red color wash over her, she almost matched her dress. Lovely. As soon as she spoke, teasing him as he stumbled around his compliment his face turned red his ears that were no longer covered by his hair quickly joining his cheeks. He laughed and looked away from her as he rubbed his shoulder a bit. Nervous just began to explain what he was feeling right now. "Me? Nervous?" Silas shifted a little bit. "I guess that is what you could call it." He said finally looking at her again.
Her admitting her own feelings about going in there, made him feel a little better at least he wasn't alone in how nerve wracking this was going to be. It wasn't like he was new to being center of attention. The eldest and last married, oh attention was always on him, that wasn't what he was worried about. It was her. The prince wanted nothing more than to keep her attention and have her hold his hand again. Even if it was a little sweaty. He didn't mind the least. The laughter the filled the hall made him smile once he couldn't hold back. It was the cutest most infectious little giggle he had ever heard. He'd give anything for that sound to be etched into his mind forever. Her smile was already a permanent resident in his memory, right next to the twig filled hair. Pure perfection.
He smiled as she agreed to pretend with him, "Good, at least one of us is." Silas took a deep breath she she took his hand. "I've got strong feet so step on them all you like princess." The man teased. Lead the way into battle. He could do that. Though Silas was by far more an intellectual this was going to be just that kind of battle. "M'lady with you by my side, this battle will be a walk in the garden." He nodded, facing forward, his hand holding her's and the doors opened before them as they were announced.
"Announcing Princess Talulla of Dewei and Prince Silas of Elizazar." The mans voice rang out and all face turned to them. Silas found himself squeezing her hand a bit, to let her know he was just as nervous. He forced a smile, pretend like you want to be here, and lead them forward and into the large, full room which had basically become silent as everyone turned to look at him and the pretty princess beside him. His eyes landed on his mother who offered him a big grin, he'd gotten that from her. It took everything he had to not run over to her and hide like small child. He had to be good at pretending for the girl beside him. The dampness of her palms gave way to the fear she was hiding.
"We can do this." He whispered through his teeth to her, trying to soothe both himself and Talulla

Orson
Orson beamed, practically glowing with pride and excitement as Eleanor and Damek praised Anaris. His eyes glowed with warmth and awe as he gaze down at his princess, smiling more as she took his arm. He looked very much the part of a proud husband, strong and certain in his affections to her. He was honored and happy to show her off, though it was clear that he wasn’t like this all the time. Perhaps it was just to his cousin, hoping to make the older man proud of him.
And it worked; both Damek and Eleanor were very proud of the pair. Eleanor pushed her long, curled golden hair back from her eyes, it draping down like her elegant gown, long and flowy as she gave a subtle laugh at them. Orson was always humble and polite, so to see him so proud of someone was refreshing to the two. They exchanged a look, Eleanor loping her arm through Damek’s and tugging him close, leaning her head against his shoulder fondly as they turned their focus to Anaris.
Orson was intently studying her face as she spoke, trying to gauge her emotions. Nervous didn’t even begin to cover it? Yeah, he definitely felt that. He was beyond terrified, afraid she was going to be disappoint in him or the way he carried himself. But, then, she looked up at him, and his worry melted as she continued her sentence, turning her gaze back to Damek. Orson gave a slight, earnest nod, turning his gaze up from her finally.
”I think she summed it up perfectly; I was anxious to meet her, and I can’t believe how lucky I am. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life getting to know her,” He answered, eyes softening with joy, his expression hard to read for once as he stared down at her. He tugged her slightly closer, free hand coming to cover hers with a gentle squeeze, a soft smile forming as he stared at her like she was the sun. For him, she was his sun, radiant and life giving and joyful. She represented the hopes and dreams of his people and their future, and he was certain she would bear that weight with grace and strength.
How lucky am I, indeed.
Damek gave a light chuckle, free hand coming up to clasp Orson’s firmly, drawing the boy’s gaze back to him. ”Well, you two seem to be on the same wavelength. We wish you all the best, and cannot wait to see how gorgeous the wedding will be.” Orson laughed, smiling up at the taller man. Eleanor reached out to Anaris, taking her free hand with a polite, tender squeeze.
”I hope you two live a long and prosperous life of peace. We cannot wait to see how you two will shape your kingdoms, and we’re only a carrier pigeon away,” She assured the younger princess before the pair released them. The each bowed/curtseyed before the pair before linking back up and moving away to join Queen Devika near the other parents, leaving the pair free to interact with another dignitary.
Orson sighed as he watched them go before turning back to Anaris with joy and excitement. ”They really like you, and I’m so glad. Who’s next?” He asked, turning his gaze to peer around, taking in the room and where everyone else was, waiting to hear her thoughts before moving forward.
Talulla
Talulla found herself slightly smitten with the flustered, blushing prince. She had never been the one to dole out compliments before, but with Silas she couldn’t help herself. He was just too perfect to not compliment, and Talulla had never been one to hold back before. So, why stop now? She found no issue in complimenting Constance or Jeremy or any of the help; why should her future husband— oh god —be any different. She merely tilted her head, fully soaking in his expression with warmth and a slightly bemused expression.
Talulla was grateful when his hand enveloped hers once more. Already, though she wouldn’t admit it, she felt lightyears better. More secure and confident, she knew he would have her back throughout the night. It was refreshing, knowing she wouldn’t have to be alone, and for the first time, Talulla didn’t want to hurl at the sight of the ballroom doors. Overall, it was just nice.
At his comment about his feet, she gave a very unladylike snort, turning her head away with a soft shake, trying to compose herself. ”Don’t challenge me, highness,” She warned with a mischievous glint in her eye, a smirk itching at her full lips as she straightened slightly, sobering as they began to move forward. She gave a faint smile at his comment, knowing he had chosen his words deliberately, and her heart thumped, stumbling slightly in its rapid pace as they moved through the doors. She blinked, tensing up as they waited to be announced.
As their names rang out in the room, Talulla stiffened, humor gone. All eyes turned to her, and the girl became stone. She was rigid and stiff, face paling considerably, grip now an iron clamp on Silas’s hand as she shifted as close to him as she could manage. She was hardly breathing, fighting hard to contain the small trembles radiating from her and disrupting Silas. She swallowed hard, heart thundering in her chest as Silas began to move forward. She stumbled slightly, forced forward with shaking legs as she tried to smile. However, it came off as more of a grimace, so she dipped her head forward, willing her hair to surround her and swallow them whole. But then, Silas was speaking to her.
“We can do this.” She stole a glance up at the prince who was smiling around the room, waving with his free hand. His shoulders were back, head held high, and he looked the part of a regal, confident king. He smiled down at her, catching her gaze for a moment, and she blinked, head lifting slightly as she took a deep breath, finally starting to regulate her breathing once more. She swallowed hard, forcing her shoulders back, raising her head slightly as she followed him to the floor. She gave a gentle curtsy in response to his bow before the two straightened. Now came the hardest part: the dance.
She moved forward as he reached his hand out, hers fitting back into his like it was a glove. She moved closer to him, arm coming up to rest on his shoulder as his came to rest at her waist. Her heart thundered along violently, cheeks starting to warm under his gaze as she allowed him to begin pulling her into a dance. And just like that, the party cranked to life around them.
She was still rather pale, but her color was beginning to warm. She, herself, found her internal turmoil catching up to her. He was so strong and handsome and sure of himself, and she was a shameful mess. He didn’t deserve her. But, in this moment, that didn’t matter as he spun her around. He was the only person in the world to her right then, and she followed willingly. She suddenly understood all the fairytales, where they became the only two in the room. With him this close, the smell of herbs and wood surrounding her with comfort, his body warm beneath her hands, she understood.
In that moment, it was just them.
She relaxed slightly, stepping on his toes for the third time that night. She winced, grimacing slightly as they slowed before he regained their tempo, pulling her along. ”I’m sorry,” She murmured, dropping her gaze uncertainly, trying to completely tune out the onlookers once more. She heard soft chatter in the background, and her ears began to burn as she tried her best to pretend they weren't talking about her.
But, of course they were. The whole kingdom was here to laugh at the mess of a princess that had no idea what she was doing and was completely out of her element. There was nothing to hide behind now. She stumbled, stepping onto Silas's toes yet again, and she pulled them to a halt, clearing her throat and looking like she was trying hard not to cry. She swallowed the lump forming in her throat, blinking hard as she focused on the ground, heart thundering in her ears.
"Silas, I don't know if I can do this," She whispered finally, swallowing hard once more, hands trembling violently against him now. She couldn't ignore the eyes on them anymore, and she felt like she was going to throw up. She hadn't thrown up at a party in years, but that was because there hadn't been any celebrations in her honor in years. If you puke on this poor boy Talulla, I swear.
