The rogues take over a quarter of Fernclan's territory, causing Fernclan to become afraid that they are going to be chased out entirely. Cloudpaw happened to be hunting in the territory they took over, and was killed.

Pikestar starts showing signs of greencough. With her current situation it could be deadly. Moonflower confines Pikestar to her den for the time being.
Wolfstride and Lilyheart are panicking. With their current situation quite noticeable now. Wolfstride calls a clan meeting of every cat. He explains what is happening and gets the clan riled up for battle.

Coincidentally, just as Wolfstrid's giving their speech, the rogues attacked camp. Fennelcloud was killed, and the clan lost, but now they are eager to battle, their adrenaline and rage powering them. They make a plan to attack the next day, even though they are starving.

Moonflower announces sadly that Pikestar has lost a life. However she has gotten over her grief and, filled with rage, is ready to lead the Clan into battle.
The clan sits vigil for Fennelcloud. The next sunset they set out for battle. Sneaking up on the rogue's camp they are able to surprise them and gain the upper hand.

A group of 4 of the rogues who attacked come to Fernclan begging for a home, pleading for forgiveness and saying that they were forced to do what they did. Pikestar forces them out without mercy, yowling at them that "Their deaths were your faut", "You don't deserve a home", and "Murderers shouldn't live", and, after they left, sent a patrol after them, not to chase them out, but to attack and, if possible, kill them. This shows the clan just how different Pikestar is acting.

After the interaction with the rogues, Pikestar changed her mind and decided that she had a duty and would continue being a leader, which caused Moonflower to become very stressed.

They overheard Pikestar saying she was going to demote Houndclaw from deputy for being disloyal and untrustworthy. When they sneak back, they tell the other apprentices, and they all agree to help keep Houndclaw as Deputy.

The apprentices tell Houndclaw what they heard from Pikestar. However they don't tell them what they're plotting. Houndclaw goes to and tells Moonflower what the apprentices heard.
This however stresses Moonflower out more, she urges Houndclaw to not ask Pikestar about this. Houndclaw, despite Moonflower's warnings, goes to Pikestar and asks her about this saying, "Would Wolfstride, Cloudpaw, and Streampaw be proud of this? Pikestar?" This angers Pikestar, and she threatens to exile Houndclaw.

Pikestar decides to right then and there announce to the clan that Houndclaw is demoted, but not to warrior, all the way down to kit, and says that he is now Houndkit and shall be considered and treated like a newborn, and will be taken care of by Rootspark. Houndkit has 6 moons until they become an apprentice, and must sleep in the nursery, with Rootspark treating him like he's her newborn kit. He makes Wolfstride deputy, despite them being dead. They clan now is calling him crazy behind his back, and Moonflower is very, very stressed. The apprentices are upset, having realized that they failed.
