i n t r o d u c t i o n
The Day of Empyreal Darkness will forever taint the reputation of my family.
My great-great-grandfather, King Fraener was a strong and noble leader. An intelligent man, King Fraener was advantageous and cunning. Always quick to jump at an opportunity to grow our large and prosperous kingdom further, and to bring about a better life for our people. He was beloved by nearly all under his rule, and wanted what was best for them and for his future children and grandchildren.
I cannot say that I blame him. Our kingdom was the strongest of the four neighboring ones, and the only true threat lay in the sky above us; dragons. You see, the dragons have been here long before my family was even a blip in this world. The dragons were the guardians of the eternal flame, the life force and light responsible for formation of the planet from the very beginning. Their duty was to protect the flame at all costs, regardless of what posed the threat.
And to the dragons, the progress of our kingdom was a threat. And so began the fight between beast and man.
Towards the end of his life, King Fraener learned of a great but terrible prophecy from the local witch and oracle. She foresaw great strife and pain for our five kingdoms, and 100 years of suffering and fighting ahead of us at the claws of the great and might guardians of the sky and amongst ourselves. King Fraener implored her to search for an alternate vision, but she could not produce any.
So, he condemned the witch to death.
He locked her deep in the dungeons of the castle where no light shines and no warmth reaches, and he left her to rot. King Fraener told no one of what the witch had promised, save for five of his most trusted men. They traveled to the edges of the five kingdoms, searching in vain for an answer to this dilemma. Only one returned. The young man bore an ancient scroll foretelling of a great day of darkness. One where the sun would forbid to shine, and the dragons would enter an immense and unbreakable slumber until the sun returned in full.
They called it the Day of Empyreal Darkness.
King Fraener gathered his strongest troops, and for five long months they trained the most rigorous courses they had ever experienced in their lives. His warlords sent reconnaissance troops to locate the strongest dragons' caves, and they mapped out where the dragons laid to rest. And so, when the day came, King Fraener, in his old age, mounted his trusted steed and led his troops into battle. And for the first time in history, a dragon was slain. And, he was murdered at the hands of a king, no less.
Thus began the start of the end of mankind. As the dragons slumbered in the dark, King Fraener's troops were relentless and used the shadow of the moon to murder each and every last dragon.
Well, at least, they thought they did. But, in the furtherest corner of the smallest of the five kingdoms, a small egg lay hidden. Overlooked and overturned; a forgotten dragon. The last dragon lay in wait, to be born into a world of darkness.
The eternal flame dimmed with each drop of dragon's blood that pooled into the earth and doused it, until it was nothing more than a hidden ember, barely fueling the land. And though the sun rose after a long and bloody 24 hours, the world plunged into chaos and darkness. That morning, King Fraener breathed his last, satisfied that he had secured a safe future for his beloved kingdom, and my grandfather King Ormarr took to the throne.
The small egg lay in wait, as 100 years of strife and turmoil came to pass, just as the witch predicted. There was infighting between the five kingdoms, and unrest grew between the classes of people and imbalance of power and wealth between the five. But I know now, nearing the approach of my eighteenth birthday and the return of the Day of Empyreal Darkness, as well as the coming of the hundredth anniversary of King Fraener's passing, that the last dragon has risen and is out there, waiting.

Welcome!
Thank you for clicking on my humble little page! I have desperately been craving a good multi-layered role-play. This is going to be a pretty small threwithout too many characters, and as such I'm going to ask that this be a pretty advanced role-play.
As far as characters go, I'm going to play the main princess that hears the dragon calling to her. She's going to need a body guard, as well as help from the neighboring kingdoms. I figured having the princes and princesses of the neighboring kingdoms joining together to be the future generation undoing their parents' mistakes to bring about peace can be fun.
All you really need to know about the plot is that it will involve drama, hardships, a far travel, and romance of course. It's not a necessity, and if you want your character to remain out of that, that is totally fine! I'm also down to discuss plot points and such as we go, as well as devise side quests to delay and distract our characters : )

current season -- Summer date -- June 10 days until Empyreal Darkness -- [ unknown ]
The Five Kingdoms -- These are the five kingdoms in which this story takes place. The kingdoms are arranged in rings, with Ladon being the innermost kingdom and the Tanit is the furtherst kingdom out, with wealth going from richest to poorest in the same manner. Many people aspire to have enough money to move in closer to Ladon, the most coveted of the five kingdoms.
- Ladon Kingdom -- This is the kingdom of the late King Fraener and the main kingdom of the story. This is where Princess [ name ] resides, and it is the largest and most prosperous of the Five. This kingdom is filled with happy, healthy people. Poverty rates are low, and the land is very fertile. Residents are satisfied and it is mainly comprised of wealthier, upperclass families. Most items and necessities are imported from the other kingdoms.
- Velves Kingdom -- This is the second largest kingdom, and thus the second wealthiest. This kingdom is fairly secure, with a considerate amount of sick members. it is a fairly good mix of wealthy and upper class, though it favors the wealthy. People are content, though there is more crime on the outer edges of the kingdom's land. Some farming is found in the lower parts of the kingdom, but generally most items are imported. There is some unrest and class strife, but mainly a peaceful kingdom.
- Knucker Kingdom -- This kingdom is the middle Kingdom and favors the middle class. It has some upper members, but is generally comprised of the working class of the five kingdoms. This is a land full of workers and specialists. The land has the largest source of water in the kingdom, and favors healers and artisans as well as a huge agriculture industry over the others. There isn't much class strife, and most live an average but comfortable life. Crime is pretty standard, and people are a good mix of healthy and sick. Mostly peaceful.
- Amelinda Kingdom -- This is one of the lower class kingdoms. Mainly hard, brute workers, this is the kingdom full of lower class miners. They produce most of the armor and metal for the kingdoms, as well as the main goods. Crime is fairly high, and there is the most pollution from the factories. Thus, many of the residents in the kingdom are sickly with respiratory diseases. Many here do not live as long as the other kingdoms, and they are some of the hardest working people out of the five kingdoms.
- Tanit Kingdom -- This is the lowest of the five kingdoms, and the furthest away from Ladon. This kingdom is barely scraping by with lots of hungry, poor residents and sick and elderly members. Many from the upper kingdoms remark that people go here to die. Crime is extremely high, and as the furthest out this kingdom is most suspect to immigration as nomads and vagabonds pass through. Many are unhappy and sickly, and the land is very difficult to farm or manage. There is much chaos and very few buildings. The most wooded and wild areas are in this kingdom. It is also, coincidentally, home of the eternal flame (buried deep in the Enchanted Forest) and the last dragon. This kingdom is comprised of dark magic and old secrets, and home to huge practices of witch craft as well as organized crime rings. This kingdom struggles the most and feels the most strife of the five.

I'm not going to have too many of these, but there does have to be some structure. : )
i. activity -- This one is pretty important to me as lately, almost all of the threads I have seen or been apart of have been dying out. I'd say that I've worked pretty hard and that this will need to continue to be pushed forward to move along. All that being said, I understand that everyone has a life outside of the forums and other things going on. I'd just ask that you try to post about twice a week. If that's an issue, we can talk about something else. But most of the characters are going to be pretty involved the whole time and thus the group will be dependent on you to respond in time so the next person can. Let us know if you're going to be absent ahead of time. I will message you after a week of no response, and then after three days from that I will delete your characters and reopen your spot.
ii. literacy -- As I mentioned previously, I do want to keep this to a more advanced role-play with more literate players. I will expect good spelling and grammar, as well as proper capitalization. I ask that you please try to have your responses be no less that 3-4 solid paragraphs. I generally tend to get very extravagant with mine and can easily write upwards of 6. However, I know that is unrealistic to expect all the time. So please try your best. I'm also not going to request that you make your posts "pretty". I know that not everyone is into coding, and I don't want anyone to be intimidated or feel like their posts aren't as good just because theirs aren't as ~pretty~. That is not the case; Quality of writing is far more important to me than aesthetic. Just do your best, and I'm sure it will be great : )
iii. content -- like I mentioned before, this role-play will have lots of drama , romance, and acton. That being said, please try to keep things about PG13. You never know who is reading this thread and watching, although this is an advanced role-play so lurk at your own risk. There will be some gore and violence, just don't go overboard. No god-modding, Mary/Gary Sues, and no controlling other people's characters. Obviously there will probably be some deaths of main characters, but we will decide that as a group. This role-play is also welcome to LGBTQ+ characters, as well as diverse backgrounds. Be kind and respectful of others, and welcoming to all.
iv. have fun! -- this is supposed to be a creative outlet and a stress reliever from everything going on. have fun, and be kind to others <3 we're all here to be friends and save some dragons (and the world), and we can only do that by cooperating and getting along. please be respectful of others, but don't be afraid to really get to know each other and dig in depth to your characters : ) |

I made the banner myself; all images in the banner were pulled from Google Images for free.
Coding goes to me, but is inspired by other beautiful threads I have seen throughout the forums, especially most recently this thread [ link ]. I made my own forms and such on the joining page as well.
The plot idea goes to me, but I'm sure there have been other ideas like this out there before.

(Fantasy RPs are great and I'm really interested in this one. The backstory of events is a fun setup for everything and I'm excited to see where this goes, especially because a couple of fantasy group type RPs I've joined before have ended up dying.
I joined one a few weeks ago, but it quickly went down that path unfortunately. Now I'm debating whether to just create a new character altogether, or to use the one I didn't have a chance to flesh out much...)
