Princess Helene of Ladon Kingdom claimed -- intransigent
Princess Helene of Ladon Kingdom Prefers to go by El or Ellie; Helene, meaning "torch or corposant"
[ 17 | august 15 | leo ♌ | face claim | uncertain ] powers and weapons: can commune with nature, is immune to fire
physical: Helene is fairly tall, coming to stand at a regal heigh of 5'8", though this doesn't stop her from wearing heels at the fancy balls she's forced to attend. Helene is a bit more muscular than what most would expect from a princess, with long, toned limbs. She weighs about 128 pounds, and has a pretty smooth shape. She has slight curves and somewhat fair skin. Her face is angular with dark, sharp brows that smooth into a cute button nose. She has straight teeth behind full lips, and slightly almond shaped eyes. She has a few freckles dotting her face, and deep brown eyes framed by long, dark eyelashes. Her hair is a wild mass of curls that tangle and twirl down towards her hips, stopping just below her waist. She has slightly pointed ears, and a quarter-sized birthmark on the nape of her neck; the mark of a dragon.
personality: Helene is an interesting gal. From a young age, she found herself called to the outdoors and found herself often in sorts of trouble for wandering off a bit too far for her father's taste due to her independent nature. She is an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed learning of her kingdom's history as a small child. She is adventurous in nature, and just as curious to match. She is unafraid of most things, and finds herself most connected to nature than anything else. Often a little absentminded, it can be hard to keep Helene focused for too long on any task at hand inside (such as hosting nobleman's gatherings and important war meetings), and has a bit of a short temper. She cannot stand being interrupted, and is quick to shoot off at the mouth. She is stubborn, to a fault, but courageous and willing to bend if necessary. She is extremely compassionate, and cares very deeply for the wellbeing of not just her kingdom but all five of the kingdoms. She is determined and strong, but able to be gentle and kind. Helene is one to keep as a friend, and one that is not quick to forget her enemies.
backstory: Helene had a pretty lonely childhood, as the only heir to her father's throne. Though she lived in the lap of luxury and had a rather boring upbringing, Helene yearned for adventure and exploration. She devoted herself to games she invented, full of intricate little worlds and backstories that the intelligent girl wove together. She was raised from birth to take the crown, and has found herself under immense pressure to fill her father's shoes one day. She is nearing her 18th birthday, meaning she must soon find a suitor (much to her distaste). She has also been tasked with figuring out a way to bring peace to the kingdoms and end the suffering and fighting.
Helene found out she could commune with nature at a very young age. Her handmaid, Janine, found her outside talking earnestly to the cat when she was only four years old. Since then, Helene has always had a great number of pets and friends around the castle, and it is hard pressed to find her without some sort of animal companion at her feet. She also seems to have entirely green hands, beyond her thumbs, as any plant she comes into contact with seems to flourish.
About the same time she found she could speak with animals, Helene had her first brush with fire when she bumped into a handmaid carrying a candle. Though the hot wax and flame fell directly onto the girl's chest, and her dress was singed, the young girl remained unscathed, though her birthmark seemed to darken into a more red than pink color. Since then, she has found that fire cannot touch her, and finds it amusing to play with, much to her parents' concern.
Prince Alistair of Velves Kingdom
claimed -- ghost
Prince Alistair of Velves Kingdom
[ 19 | January 26th | aquarius ♒ | face claim | heterosexual ] powers and weapons: electrokinetic, telekinetic; favors a sword and shield or pike
physical: Alistair isn’t particularly tall, considering his gender; he stands somewhere between 5’8” and 5’10”. With blond hair that’s styled to near perfection, dark amber eyes and an athletic build, some would say he’s quite the catch; his face is smooth and yet rugged, with angular lines, a straight nose, and a strong jawline that’s dusted in a bit of stubble. More often than not, there’s a half-smirk fixed on Alistair’s face, giving a bit of insight into his personality. As stated before, Alistair’s build is on the athletic side, although not obnoxiously strong. He can hold himself quite well in a fight and is a bit swifter and more flexible than one would guess. There’s a hint of a scar on his cheek, as though he’d been clawed by something fierce (and it was a particularly upset cat, which, in Alistair’s opinion, is far scarier than a bear). Alistair’s got a set of nice, straight teeth that he often flashes in a grin, thanks to his joking nature. His wardrobe leans towards darker colors like gold, red and black, but he isn’t necessarily opposed to other colors. It’s more that he feels darker colors match well with his blond hair, and though he isn’t superficial, he does take some care in his appearance.
personality: Alistair’s personality is best defined by his rather jovial nature; he often jokes and pokes fun at nearly any situation, especially questions. Still, he isn’t opposed to talking about himself (and even his feelings!) and if prodded further, he’ll relent. He’s best at handling uncomfortable situations with his characteristic easy-going, lighthearted joking. Despite that, Alistair is loyal and has a deep sense of convictions; he believes in honor and duty, and keeping oaths. He’s a bit of an idealist and tends to lean towards seeing the best in people, and that means it isn't unusual for people to walk all over him or use Alistair for their own ends. He is of the belief that family should support and love you, no matter what, which can be a dangerous notion. Alistair often prefers to take on the role of a follower, rather than a leader, but he can be authoritative and a strong leader if necessary – to that end, he’s good at taking orders, but isn’t afraid to speak his opinion if he feels the situation warrants it. Thanks to his personality, most of the court think Alistair is a bit simple, but there’s a wily intelligence behind his eyes. Still, he’s got a talent for standing about and looking the fool, and he’ll use it to his advantage (and that of his friends and family) if needed.
backstory: Alistair was born as the bastard son of Velves’ king and was only elevated to the role of prince when his father’s natural-born son (who was a year or so younger than Alistair) died at a young age from some strange illness. Alistair was young at the time – around ten years old – and prior to that had been raised by the queen’s brother, who was the head of another noble family. Despite his adoptive father’s high status, Alistair was not afforded many luxuries. More often than not, he slept in the stables and worked as a stable-boy, caring for the horses. He still was given a quality education and taught the art of battle and proved to be quite the warrior even at a young age. He’s quite gifted with a sword and shield or pike. When his half-brother passed, the queen was devastated, and seemed to wither and deteriorate. The king and queen had been unable to have other children, and when the kingdom’s heir passed the queen unfortunately died a few months later – many believe it was from a broken heart. With few other options, the king took in Alistair and naturalized him, although few would cease to see Alistair as little more than the bastard prince. Thanks to the circumstances of his birth, Alistair was raised to never believe that he would be recognized as royalty, let along the prince, and has little interest in ruling. He’s fairly terrified of being king, but willing to do what is necessary to ensure the prosperity and security of his kingdom. He’s a quick study and has picked up on politics rather quickly. In his youth, when he was studying combat with the other boys of his village, he discovered the nature of his gifts – the telekinesis came first, followed a few years later by his electro-kinesis, which seems to be the stronger gift. For the former, he isn’t great at moving objects about, but he is able to deflect things away from himself with fair accuracy. He’s able to generate electricity of varying voltages, but cannot sustain high voltages for very long.
Princess Eris of Knucker Kingdom claimed -- starchaser
Princess Eris of Knucker Kingdom
[ 18 | january 25 | aquarius | face claim | bisexual ] powers and weapons: divination (ability to gain insight into situations) and mediumship (communication with spirits); her weapon of choice is a dagger, but she's not bad with a bow either
physical: Eris is short, about 5'1", but more than makes up for it in attitude. She has a lean and elegant build fit for a traditional princess, but that's where the "royal" side of her ends. She has long legs, because the gods knew she'd be doing a lot of running, or so she always says. Her build is light and not very toned, which belies a surprising amount of strength. Though she is not the most adept in physical combat, Eris is agile and quick, primarily gaining the upper hand in fights through her wit. She has a somewhat paler complexion, with a smattering of freckles across her cheeks. Most of her facial features are soft and round, giving her an almost wide-eyed, innocent appearance. With long, untamed midnight black hair and stormy gray-blue eyes, Eris has a sort of wild beauty to her, though it's not her looks she is known for. She has a few scars from her tendency to throw caution to the wind, most notably one just above her left eyebrow. She favors dark and neutral colors, choosing outfits more for practicality than glamour, though she does like to flaunt her status sometimes.
personality: In a word... chaotic. Despite her royal bloodline and noble upbringing, Eris is something of a hellion. "Affectionately" known as the "Princess of Disaster," she has earned herself a bit of a reputation as the problem child of the royal family. Eris has a devil-may-care attitude and impulsive streak to her that has been known to get her into quite a bit of trouble at times. Eris is a reckless sort, always desperate to prove herself or show someone else up, despite seeming to have little care for others' perceptions of her. Fiercely independent with a stubborn streak, she doesn't like to follow others and values freedom above all else. She gets restless when forced to sit still for too long, needing to constantly be occupied in some way. She is curious and longs to see what lies beyond the kingdom she's grown up in. Brave, often carelessly so, Eris will take on anything and anyone.
Her fun-loving and passionate side does draw some in, but she can be rather spiteful, often lashing out at others or even being downright hostile. Thus, she doesn't typically have many friends or even any on her good side. Moreover, she may take her thrill-seeking a little too far, inadvertently hurting others and creating problems that aren't always fixed with a quick apology. Mischievous and unafraid to cause a little trouble, Eris has had her fair share of problems and danger, but she tends to think herself invincible until these things come back to bite her. She is fiercely determined, as Eris would rather face a spectacular failure than give up, although she does run away from the more serious problems of her life. Rather than bury her messy side, Eris chooses to embrace it.
Deep down, Eris is more than a little insecure and desperate to prove herself. At her worst, she may shut down for periods of time, being withdrawn and melancholy. She tends to keep this side of herself buried more deeply, underneath a penchant for adventure and boundless energy, but may resort back to it once when she finds herself backed in a corner. For all her flaws, Eris truly does mean well, but struggles with self-esteem and her emotions. Underneath her tumultuous outer layer, she is fearful and uncertain, but trying to find her way.
backstory: Eris is the fourth-born child of King Tychon and Queen Arete of Knucker Kingdom. Having grown up without the burden of someday taking the crown, Eris is not quite as well-groomed as one might expect a royal child to be. Regardless, her personality doesn't seem inclined towards sophistication even when she's forced. Eris grew up in the usual luxury of a royal child, but without all of the responsibility, with a fierce craving for adventure. Unlike her siblings, she was unable to find her niche in the kingdom, which left her feeling somewhat purposeless. As a result, she goes out of her way to find satisfaction and attention elsewhere, often absconding on impromptu trips around the kingdom. She grew up on fantasy stories and myths, leaving her far more inclined towards imagination than reality, which is in part why she is always seeking adventure.
Being the child of royal parents, with several other siblings to compete with for attention, Eris grew up feeling lonely and often unappreciated. Her parents were busy running a kingdom and preparing her brother for his ascension someday, while her other siblings seemed to discover their callings early on. As a result, Eris turned to the outside world for the affection and fulfillment she craved. She is often more frequently seen outside the palace walls and is far more open to interacting with average citizens than her parents would like.
Perhaps the most notable part of her history, however, is a long-rumored family curse that has allegedly been around for generations. So the story goes, an ancient Knucker king struck up a deal with a witch and refused to hold up his end of the bargain, leading to a curse being placed on the family. Every generation since then, one child of the royal family has been struck by misfortune, fated to die young. The only way to break the curse is to fulfill the original favor the witch had requested in return for her help. Problem is, nobody remembers what it is. For the most part, the royal family has forgotten and no longer believes in this, though the curse has seemed to hang over them. Eris, for her part, was convinced she is the chosen cursed of her generation. That is, until her brother's death. Now she is determined to be the one to someday break it. However, due to the way bad luck seems to follow wherever she goes, Eris isn't so certain she isn't suffering from it.
Eris discovered her powers at a relatively young age. She was often caught her talking to seemingly no one and often rattling of facts she should know nothing about. Eris doesn't seem to have a very good handle on her powers though, as they happen more spontaneously than through any sort of effort or planning.
Relationships ○ King Tychon Spyros (50 years): A decent ruler, if somewhat hands-off. Tychon handles more of the social aspect involved in leadership, while his wife tends to be the true power behind the crown. He is the more nurturing of the parents, with a particular attention towards his oldest children. He doesn't pay Eris much mind, finding her antics mostly harmless.
○ Queen Arete Spyros (46 years): An imposing, regal woman. She is serious-minded and sometimes cold, but none could argue that she doesn't lead with a certain tenacity and wisdom that has served the kingdom well. She is very much the type to put work first, often neglecting her relationships and treating her children more as just proteges than her family. However, she raised each of them to someday make fine leaders, fostering their individual strengths and directing them to where they would best suit the kingdom. Queen Arete passed on her fierce, stormy eyes to Eris, but not much else. She often tries to rein her most impetuous daughter in, to no avail.
○ Prince Alexios Spyros (20 at death/would be 24): Previous heir to the Knucker throne. Alexios was favored heavily by his parents and the entire Knucker Kingdom. He was good-natured and kind, with a penchant for lightening spirits. Alexios possessed a charm and level head not afforded to many. Disappeared and died under mysterious circumstances. He was close to all of his siblings, and one of the few that didn't seem to mind Eris. His passing greatly affected her, though she tries not to show it. Despite her best efforts, Eris has not been able to commune with her brother.
○ Princess Corinna Spyros (22): The new Crown Princess of Knucker after her elder brother's untimely death. Corinna is sharp, disciplined, and put-together. She stepped into the crown easily after her brother's passing, with an air of confidence and determination that made her immediately suited to the role. She and Eris do not get along very well, being that they're nearly polar opposites. Corinna finds Eris irresponsible and far too casual in her habits. Eris just thinks Corinna needs to chill.
○ Prince Atlas Spyros (18): Twin brother of Eris. A bit of the strong and silent type, Atlas is an excellent strategist and works closely with his parents in military affairs. Although they don't seem like it, he and Eris are quite close, albeit easily irritated with each other. They don't often see eye to eye, but will still defend each other to their last breath. Though Atlas often finds fault with Eris's recklessness and poor decisions, he doesn't hesitate to help her clean up the mess. Eris is secretly jealous of her brother's success and the respect he's earned from both their parents and the kingdom.
○ Princess Isidora Spyros (14): The sweetheart of Knucker Kingdom. Isidora is the gentle, soft-spoken youngest princess. She is spoiled rotten by both her parents and servants alike, unable to do any wrong in the eyes of others. Despite her seemingly innocent exterior, Isidora is a bit conniving and bratty deep down. She is, however, excellent at concealing this fact. Isidora is very in tune with others' emotions and hopes to one day find a position of power, even if she can't be queen. She and Eris don't get along very well.
○ Perseus Iordanou (16 at death/would be 19): Eris's best friend and closest confidant from childhood. Percy was a quiet, but polite enough individual, who mostly floated under the radar. The only son of a noble family, it was expected that he would someday follow in his father's footsteps in joining military. Perseus, however, never had much interest in combat, much to his family's chagrin. He greatly enjoyed tinkering with and building things. He and Eris met when they were children, after Eris briefly tried to run away from home. Despite his cool exterior, he has a secret rebellious streak himself. Percy was always happy to accompany Eris on any sort of misadventure, and always remained her biggest defender. However, he was also one of the few people who could call her out for mistakes and bring her back down when she got a little too unhinged. Eris is one of the few people he had a soft spot for. Eris is partially at fault for his death, for which she feels immense guilt. Even in death, the pair remain inseparable, though Eris has definitely closed herself off more since then.

Princess Cynder of Tanit Kingdom claimed -- glow
Princess Cynder of Tanit Kingdom answers to "cyn," named for her late mother
[ 19 | march 27th | aries ♈ | face claim | bisexual ] powers and weapons: her power is "granulation"--she can make things turn to sand, her weapon of choice is the crossbow
physical: Cynder is taller than most women--she stands at a statuesque 5'9. Her body is lean and long-limbed. There are indications of muscle on her arms, legs, and abdomen. In fact, she is stronger than many men. This is something that she is incredibly proud of, given she was a scrawny little thing until about 15. Even still, Cynder is a naturally thin person. She eats as much as full grown men, but she never seems to put on fat. Her skin is naturally quite pale. It burns easily and is cool in tone. This comes in stark contrast to her dark hair, which is nearly black. She has fine features with a narrow nose and almond-shaped eyes. Her lips are neither full nor thin. She also has a spattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose, the only souvenirs she can ever get from time in the sun. They sit below her icy blue eyes, which often come across as brooding and judgmental. Her eyebrows are thin and straight in shape, cutting sharply across her face under the parallel line of her fringe. Her hair is her defining feature. It, like much of Cynder, is not particularly ladylike. It is chopped short just below her jawline, much to the horror and chagrin of all of the women in the court. Her dad thinks it's "snappy," though, so she doesn't pay any mind. Cynder is not a person for frills and lace. Her wardrobe is comprised of mostly solid colors, particularly white, black, and neutrals. She would like to wear trousers more often, but she can only get away with it when riding. She also has several tattoos from her time in training with the men over the summer of her seventeen year. She still goes to great lengths to hide them from her family.
personality: It's no secret that Cynder is a...difficult person sometimes. According to her father, she came out of the womb saying "no" and she hasn't stopped since. In other words, she's a woman who knows what she wants, and it never fails to come as a shock to her when others' interests conflict with her own. Cynder is as stubborn as an ox. To spin this in a more positive way, however, she never relents on the things that are important to her. This same stubbornness is the reason why she is excellent at horseback riding, archery, and policy. All of those things she learned because she was told it was inappropriate for her to do so. She hated that her brothers (of which there are four) were considered better suited for certain tasks than herself. Cynder is also loyal to a fault. Once a person is endeared to her, they can do no wrong in her eyes. She tends to see the world as rather black and white. There are good people and there are bad people. The good people she can forgive for their faults, the bad not so much. One of her redeeming qualities is her sense of humor. She has a way of finding the humor in every situation, even if she's unhappy about said situation.
backstory: Cynder was born the last of five siblings. Her mother died in childbirth after a tumultuous, ill-advised (she had existing health problems) pregnancy. Growing up, Cynder never felt the absence of that female energy as she was raised by a gaggle of nurses. Some of her first memories are of watching her brothers learn to sword fight and ride while she was restricted to the ladies' quarters. But she was always her father's favorite child. He spent much of his time away from home. Tanit is the poorest of the kingdoms, and there was a never ending flood of problems for him to deal with. But when he did spent time at the castle, he allowed his daughter to do whatever she wished, which included tagging along with her brothers. It wasn't until she went through puberty that she became deeply distressed over the loss of her mother. She has always had a difficult relationship with her own femininity, and this was compounded by the fact that she had little guidance and reassurance. She became envious of other women who were capable of being so fragile and refined. This duality between the desire to be a good woman and the desire to rebel are at the center of Cynder's existence.
At the age of seventeen she was permitted to join the military for training. This is a rite of passage normally reserved for men in the royal family, but Ransom (who was serving as interim king at the time) allowed her to do it. She often considers it the best time of her life. She lived among the men, trained with them, drank with them, and found her independence. They traveled around the kingdom and carried out the king's orders. Some of her adventures included patrolling a ransacked village and investigating murders near the forest. The summer was cut short when her father returned. He ordered Cyn returned home and placed her on house arrest, threatening to marry her off to some prince in order to restore her reputation, but by then the damage was already done. Cynder had endeared herself to the men of the army. She also got three new tattoos and a lengthy scar on her thigh. She wouldn't trade the experience for the world.
(Her powers became clear when she was nine years old. It was actually a rather traumatic moment, as one might expect with the nature of her gift, but she has since learned to use it to her benefit. She must be touching something in order to granulate it, and she can't do it effectively on objects larger than a loaf of bread.)
Cynder's family is as follows:
[li] Father: Heks Elmheart, King of Tanit. He is Cyn's closest friend and ally. He has a lot on his plate having inherited the poorest and most turbulent of the five kingdoms. He is a good man, and a loyal one. He has a soft spot for his only daughter, but he can be rather tough on his sons. He is 46 years old, exceptionally tall. He shares Cyn's icy eyes. [/li]
[li] Eldest Brother: Ransom Elmheart (27), Crowned Prince of Tanit. Ransom is an absentee heir. Like his sister, he has a strong rebellious streak. He is more likely to be found in the taverns and brothels than in court. His father considers him a disappointment. The bad-boy of the kingdom.[/li]
[li] Second Eldest Brother: Kenzin Elmheart (26). The most responsible of the princes. He serves as his father's right hand man, and he is well-liked among the men. He is rather stern and brooding. He and Cyn rarely get along.[/li]
[li] Third Brother: Dax Elmheart (24). The warrior of the bunch. He is currently training in the military, as all of the king's children have done. He, however, plans to remain within the army. He has a strong, confrontational personality and is one of Cyn's closest allies. They often get each other into trouble.[/li]
[li] Fourth Brother: Tallis Redfowle (21), bastard son of the late queen. Tallis was the great scandal of the family. Born two years before Cynder, he was the product of a long affair between the queen and a nobleman named Fenrik Birch. The affair is not something the family talks about much. Tallis is shorter than his half brothers and has dark eyes. Cynder was the product of the supposed reconciliation between the king and the queen, one which was woefully short.[/li] [/ul] [/font][/div] [/font][/div][/div][/div][/div] [/font][/div] Great-Great-Grandson/Granddaughter of the Witch claimed -- amber

backstory: Cynder was born the last of five siblings.
- Father: Heks Elmheart, King of Tanit.
- Eldest Brother: Ransom Elmheart (27), Crowned Prince of Tanit. Ransom is an absentee heir. Like his sister, he has a strong rebellious streak. He is more likely to be found in the taverns and brothels than in court. His father considers him a disappointment. The bad-boy of the kingdom.
- Second Eldest Brother: Kenzin Elmheart (26). The most responsible of the princes. He serves as his father's right hand man, and he is well-liked among the men. He is rather stern and brooding. He and Cyn rarely get along.
- Third Brother: Dax Elmheart (24). The warrior of the bunch. He is currently training in the military, as all of the king's children have done. He, however, plans to remain within the army. He has a strong, confrontational personality and is one of Cyn's closest allies. They often get each other into trouble.
- Fourth Brother: Tallis Redfowle (21), bastard son of the late queen. Tallis was the great scandal of the family. Born two years before Cynder, he was the product of a long affair between the queen and a nobleman named Fenrik Birch. The affair is not something the family talks about much. Tallis is shorter than his half brothers and has dark eyes. Cynder was the product of the supposed reconciliation between the king and the queen, one which was woefully short.
