Sunshade stood and shook herself off, then sat back down with her tail around her front paws. She purred and responded that she'd see him later as she watched Eaglenose make his way to the warrior's den. After a quick groom of her front paws, chest, and face, she made her way to a sunnier patch of grass. Circling a couple times, she settled down with her head on her front paws, and drifted off into sleep.

( Moonblazer if ledgepaw’s available, I’m gonna make a new post for eagle in a bit looking for him - but I wasn’t sure if ledge was caught up somewhere else atm) (He’s free at the moment! He just finished talking with Hollypaw.) Ledgepaw slipped from the elder’s den with a heavy sigh, mind weighing on how downtrodden his sister seemed. Hollypaw used to seem so much more optimistic. Now, she weighed heavier than a stone when she spoke. The young apprentice looked around, hoping to take his mind off of everything scary going on in camp. He looked sadly towards the Medicine Den, where the Shadowclan cats were still waiting for Cliffheart.

How about a training session?” He suggested, eyes bright.

It’s probably best to focus on that right now instead of… everything else right now.” He mumbled.

He wanted to take a bit of a break from hunting but he wasn’t particular about what to do other than that. Plus, he wanted to let Ledgepaw decide what skills he was looking to enhance now. (How far is ledge in his training? Anything particular I should know now as the mentor?)

He and his sisters are the most recent apprentices!) “Climbing.” Ledgepaw blurted out quickly, before he coughed with embarrassment. “Ah. Climbing, please. I still need to work on it more, I’m pretty confident with my battle training. My climbing… not so much.” He admitted with a hint of sheepishness, knowing it was embarrassing for a Skyclan cat to be less than ideal at Climbing.

(Okay thanks! Moonblazer) Eaglenose chuckled at his eagerness. “Sounds great. You’re lucky, I’m an excellent climber, you know,” he said as he led the way out of camp. “Lets find one of the smaller oaks to practice on.” He suggested, heading away from camp. He knew of a cluster of trees nearby where there were some smaller, less daunting trees to climb. It wouldn’t be as much of a challenge for Ledgepaw, but it would still help with learning.

He walked with a polite silence before he mewed. “These trees look nice. I was nervous to try the huge oaks near Sky Oak… do we really climb all the way up to get our Warrior names?” He gulped.

Eaglenose surveyed the trees and pinpointed one with thicker branches that had lost many of its leaves already. Less interference and easier balance. He nodded to the tree and led the younger cat to it. "Alright, so, what do we know about climbing trees?" he asked.

"Find the proper paw holds on the tree, and make sure to climb trees that don't have too hard bark, or too soft bark." He offered, before he looked closely at the tree that Eaglenose chose. "Uhm... this one has less leaves, I think. So, that's easier to climb, right?" He asked, a little bit unsure if he was right or not.

That way, I can pull you up if you have any trouble." he explained as he turned to the tree and rose up, digging his claws into the bark. "Watch me," he said and then clawed his way up the tree. Using his back legs as anchors to keep him steady as he reached for new claw holds with his front legs and then pulling himself up until finally, he was dangling off the lowest branch. He dug his claws in and leaned over, putting his front claws into the trunk and nodded for Ledgepaw to follow.

Sunshade blinked open her eyes, noticing the sun's angle was different than when she had closed them. How long was I alseep? She wondered. Yawning, she reached out with her front paws in a long, slow stretch.
Nightfern lay in a shadowy corner of camp, her dark pelt blending in with the shadows as she observed the activities going on. She blinked slowly and twitched an ear as a small insect buzzed near her head.
(Short starter post, anyone feel free to respond!)

Ledgepaw watched his mentor carefully, focusing deeply on how the tom was making his way up the tree. The apprentice stretched his claws in anticipation, before he padded towards the trunk of the tree. He eyed the pawholds carefully, trying to replicate the direction his mentor used. At first, he dug into the bark well, but he soon found himself slipping when he tried to get his hind paws in the right spot. His front claws strained as he hissed with effort.

"Reach as high as you can and pull the rest of your body to that point, then use your back legs to help steady you and push while your front half pulls," he instructed. He hoped those directions made sense. In his head, it was very clear, but he was already an established climber. For an apprentice who struggled, it might not be so clear.

He hung to the tree for a moment, before he took a deep breath and looked sharply up at his mentor, focusing intently. Sunnypaw made this look easy, and he refused to be beaten in anything by Sunnypaw! He reached up, finally managing to climb up the tree, slowly but surely.

"There you go!" Eaglenose called down, keeping his tone supportive. As Ledgepaw got further up the tree, Eaglenose slowly pushed himself back up onto the branch. He could still help if he needed to, but he didn't want to be in Ledgepaw's way. When Ledgepaw reached the branch, he hesitated and waited to see if the apprentice would need help, but then nodded at him. "Good job! That was a very good start. Luckily from here, it's a bit simpler." he said.

He whispered the instructions he remembered to himself, before he reached up with his paws. This time, he got a pawhold much faster, placing his hind paws in the correct spot to give himself a decent boost upwards. He slid a couple of times, but he finally seemed to get a rhythm as he began to scale the tree.

He made sure to stay a branch below Ledgepaw at all times until they finally reached the midway point. Ledgepaw assured, scrambling to balance himself on the branch beside his mentor. He looked down with a light huff, suddenly seeing the daunting task of having to eventually climb back down. For now, he pushed the thought away, assuming he would get it when he got there. He looked at Eaglenose. "What next?"
