“Right behind you.” Poppyclaw nodded firmly, focused once more back on the hunt. If he had noticed Eaglenose’s slight shortness, he didn’t seem to show it. Rather, he moved to bury the robin before he nodded. “I’d offer we try near Jagged Drop, though I know I’ll want to just investigate Spiritstar and Warblerwind’s deaths, more than hunt…” He sighed heavily. Eaglenose glanced back at him. “Hm, if you think we’ll have good luck there it’s worth a shot.” He said, then dropped his pace to walk beside Poppyclaw, flicking his tail over his ear sympathetically. “I understand the impulse to try and figure it out. But it won’t feed the clan.” He said, trying for a gentler tone. “I know.” Poppyclaw sighed, before he padded onwards, looking out across the rocky forests. “The fact that Warblerwind apparently pushed her off? To kill one’s own mother and then fall to his death? Surely he must have been brewing hatred.” Poppyclaw’s eyes narrowed darkly. “He had to have been aligned with the Dark Forest. What a waste.”

He couldn’t quite fathom why an otherwise decent and loyal warrior would suddenly turn evil and kill his mother. There had to be something else there - or maybe there wasn’t. Maybe Warblerwind was truly evil.

Lavendersky gave a small snort, "I did not... get an easy apprentice... either... Always so biting..." She snorted softly, remembering why she gave him the name Spiderbite.
Sandspirit gave a soft purr, "Darkjay and Ambergaze hated doing this too, but I never minded. I guess Whitesand was the same way, always helping wherever he was needed, or not needed." She said happily, glad to live up to her namesake. "Honestly, you would think I'd know the herbs by now, with how often I end up here."

Our Spiritstar, attacking her own son?” He asked, disbelief in his voice. Deep down, he did recognize she had acted strangely her last few days of life, yet his deep loyalty to her made it impossible for him to even fathom that.

He rested his head on his paws. “Wingpaw gets distracted too easily to do these jobs well. Specklepaw has no choice, seeing that Poppyclaw’s her mentor. But me… Well, I always loved doing tasks like these. Getting to hear stories, spend time seeing new things. The mundane, it’s nice to feel helpful.” He looked up warmly at Sandspirit. “Your father sounds like a great cat. I never met him, but I’m sure he meant a whole lot.”

Not in any way that would genuinely change anything plot wise. It’d just be a character choice for me)

That's because when Warblerwind does return to Skyclan, the Clan will be split on if they believe he was lying, or if he was innocent. Eaglenose can absolutely be one of the cats who believes he's innocent. Basilpaw is going to try and convince the Clan he's innocent as well, so Eaglenose could totally agree with him. That's totally okay to do! :3 )

He sighed. “I knew Warblerwind well…and I can’t imagine him ever doing something like that. He was a good, honest warrior-“ he cut himself off, grief he had forced down since he had heard of what happened threatening to resurface.

It can be daunting to new joiners with all the past history, but it's also really great to get new blood running in the stories. Would you believe I'm actually one of the newer joiners of the RP out of the main leaders/deputies? That being said, if you ever want some really old lore of the RP, Moonpower and the rest of the leaders can answer anything that may catch your eye! Me as well, of course, I'll do my best too!) Poppyclaw's tail swished, an unreadable expression across his face as he grumbled lightly, as though speaking to himself. "Quickwing isn't the kind of cat that would make that up, though. She said she saw him push Spiritstar off Jagged Drop. I thought Warblerwind was a good and honest Warrior too... but how can I deny Quickwing her account too?" The tom shook his head, before he sighed heavily. "I suppose we'll never truly know. There's no way Warblerwind survived that fall if Spiritstar didn't. The truth may be lost with him." He rumbled.

I joined right when the original Adderclan plot ended nearly... 13 years ago i would say? Around then? Man, really long time thinking about it, but I've loved every second! I'm glad you're liking it so far!) Poppyclaw seemed to think about the younger tom's words carefully, though his steely eyes betrayed little on if it affected his thoughts on Warblerwind or not. Instead, the logical tom seemed perplexed as he mumbled. "What reason would there be to send her off the Jagged Drop unless it was to kill her? I just... can't see the logic in anything else." He rubbed his paw on his muzzle with a hint of strain, sighing again. "It's just all so odd. I don't like it when things don't make sense."

(I am! I just hope I can be apart of it long enough to integrate into it as deeply as others have!)
Eaglenose felt a sympathetic pang at the frustration teeming from his companion. “Perhaps Spiritstar herself will visit Spiderbite and explain.” He said, more to try and ease the tension with a hopeful note. “Or Warblerwind will.” He added.

Warbler himself only recently was made a warrior, so he's pretty young still, prob like... a little over a year to a year-and-a-half :3 ))

Firescorch stood and joined his grandfather, dipping his head respectfully to the elder, “I’ll help you.” He murmured quietly. Frostlight watched from a distance with sad eyes, but stood up as well to offer her help in burying Spiritstar and Silvercloud. “Good tom.” Lichengaze murmured softly as his tail brushed Firescorch’s side. He nodded to Frostlight as well, appreciating her willingness to do such a hard duty. He moved to gently lift Spiritstar’s scruff as she motioned for Firescorch and Frostlight to carry Silvercloud. Firescorch and Frostlight moved over to Silvercloud’s body and lifted her together, following Lichengaze out of camp. Here are some other starters *throws characters everywhere*) Rainpaw pressed against her mother’s side, looking up at Tricklefrost with wide, scared eyes, “What do we do now? What if Quickwing and the others can’t find Whitesun?” She mewed, shivering from the damp and cold air. “Will SkyClan not have a new leader?” Ebonywillow lashed her tail as Lichengaze and the others took Spiritstar and Silvercloud away to be buried, turning away to look among her clanmates, “We should at least try and keep up with our patrols. How about we send out some border patrols?” She suggested, looking for any volunteers. Shadowmask slipped back into the nursery as the vigil ended, settling back into her nest with a small sigh and wrapping her tail protectively over her swollen belly. She didn’t like the idea of bringing her kits into this world when times were so uncertain, but there wasn’t much that she could do about that now.

Warblerwind was his friend, someone he felt a brotherly connection to, and he felt protective of. Now he was gone and Eaglenose had no idea what had happened. All he knew is the clan for the most part spoke bitterly about the young Tom now he was gone. He sighed and looked back to Poppyclaw. “Alright, let’s do that. I’ll let you climb this time,” he said, a note of humor in his tone. “If your old paws can handle it.”

Clovertail finished her chest, meeting Dreamlily's gaze as she spoke. "Like where? Out in the territory? I don't think the queens or elders would appreciate it if I napped napped in the nursery or the elders den." It was a joke, even if it didn't end up sounding like it when it left Clovertail's mouth. She winced internally, hoping Dreamlily didn't take it the wrong way. “Maybe a better ledge.” Dreamlily winced a bit, but realized that the she-cat was joking, even if it sounded serious. She lifted her ears. “Sleeping out of camp might not give you the best result. "Maybe..." Clovertail trailed off, thinking. "Maybe it's just all that has happened." She sighed. It all seemed a bit... surreal. No cat was expecting Spirtstar to die the way she had, at the paws of her own son. No cat had expected Whitesun to go missing, for Silvercloud to die. Maybe it was taking a toll on her, and admitting that to herself didn't make it any easier.

Hollypaw bristled at Ledgepaw's words. Mr Goody-Two-Paws knew so much better than her, did he? "And YOU could have just kept your mouth shut about it!" she retorted, recalling he was actually the one who told Darkjay about her scheme. "It's not my fault that I need time to myself sometimes...But I guess I can't have that." She snorted, wincing as she grabbed the bundle again and began to drag. “With prey-maulers, and our dead leader? No, probably not the best time to sneak out.” Ledgepaw snapped firmly, tail lashing as he huffed. “And anytime you and Sunnypaw do these kinds of things, I get associated with it even if I never do anything!” He rolled his eyes, before his ears fell. “Skyclan’s a mess right now. We need to be our best.” "Don't you ever get tired of always having to be perfect?" the young she-cat huffed, continuing to hall the pungent mass across camp. The immense daily pressure to be on your toes and not fall out of line was not lost on Hollypaw--yet it arguably made her squirm and fight against it more. Not to mention the anxiety of Skyclan's general disarray was definitely adding to everyone's stress. "Sometimes I feel...I feel like I can't breathe in here...Y'know?" Hollypaw glanced at her brother, a tinge of vulnerability in her eyes and voice.

She suddenly grew terse with anger and misery. "I wish Echowing had never revealed everything at the Gathering. I wish I didn't have to share my blood with a cat as cruel as her." She whispered, a rare flash of anger in her eyes even still for the cat she once called her sister.

I just... it's terrifying." She whispered. Eaglenose laughed. “We’ll see about that.” He said, taking off after the warrior. He felt better, having seemingly lightened the mood now. The heavy subject before had made his paws drag over the hard surface of the ground. "Hmph." Poppyclaw snorted gruffly, though his tail was lifted with a newfound sense of contentment and drive, now that he had a possible task at paw. His complicated thoughts were put on hold as they padded further through the territory. Far above, the Sky Oak towered impossibly tall, even amongst the other massive oaks in the heart of Skyclan territory.

"Sometimes I feel...I feel like I can't breathe in here...Y'know?" Hollypaw glanced at her brother, a tinge of vulnerability in her eyes and voice.Ledgepaw was silent for a moment, before the tom seemed to shuffle his paws and sigh. "I'm not perfect. Far from it, really. Earlier today, I slipped on a stone during my climbing practice. That's not-... I'm not trying to say all that." He trailed after his sister, quietly picking up any pieces of moss she dropped. "I'm just saying that I really don't want us to get in trouble all the time, and have to be held back from becoming Warriors when Skyclan really needs us, you know?"

He scanned the sky for any signs of birds coming in to land. As he watched, a bird he couldn’t recognize from this distance flitted into the branches. He flicked his tail over Poppyclaw’s ear and jerked his head to point where it had landed. “Let’s see what you got,” he said, and paced around to find a good spot to catch the bird once it came down.

Hollypaw ruminated on Ledgepaw's words. She remembered when her and her littermates were still young kits, playing pretend around the nursery, bragging to each other about the strong warriors they'd become. She had felt...excited about the future. Eager to enter this big crazy world. But now that she was actually in it, and seeing it for the mess it really was, it was like she was trying to turn back time and run away from it. The spark she held for her future was fading, and it made Hollypaw anxious. It was all so unfair. The grey she-cat bit the moss hard as she gritted her teeth, growling frustratedly. She pinned her ears back dejectedly, quickening her stride. "Whatever..."

"Hmph. At least give me a challenge." Poppyclaw drawled, before he bunched his legs and nimbly leaped up into the first branch. From there, he followed the worn pawholds up the Sky Oak with quiet precision. Flarestorm may have been stronger in bulk, but Poppyclaw far excelled in climbing and dexterity. He tracked the branches, taking the more discreet route up towards the bird. He narrowed his eyes, signaling down for Eaglenose to spot him if the bird tried to fly down to the ground below.

She used to be as energetic and optimistic as Sunnypaw, yet now Ledgepaw felt that Hollypaw was anything but. The tom sighed again, shaking his head lightly. "I'll let you finish this then."
