vent thread 4 all

from what i saw when i looked into it, the major motivator wasn't landlords but rather neighbors. sounds like there was an increasing number of single family homes in wealthy neighborhoods being turned into large co-living situations (ex: a 3 or 4 bedroom house turned into a 7 bedroom for 7 different renters). the neighbors didn't like that because of the perception that it brought down their property values, caused parking congestion issues, and made the neighborhood less "exclusive" (both for anti-poor prejudiced reasons and because it increased access for unsavory/unsafe folks). the ordinance actually hurts a lot of real estate companies that made a lot of money by buying and converting those houses into co-living rentals, so i dont think it was primarily driven by "greedy capitalist pigs". from what i could find the "horrible landlords propelled this ordinance" theory comes from reddit and isn't based on anything besides people's individual anecdotes.

so basically the issue is classicism, perhaps mixed with a few legitimate concerns that could have been handled in other less legally-invasive ways.

I hate when people think that when they say someone is a bully/meanie/jerk they think that they are just saying the truth but they fail to realize that whether that statement is the truth or not it hurts the person being mentioned as a bully/meanie/jerk. Especially when the person is me because I have a phobia of being called a bully/meanie/jerk.

This is the second time my ""friend"" has stealthed peppers in my food despite my allergy, but this time it was a spicy one. When I confronted her she acted indignant about it and told me she wanted to see if I was lying since i saw the pepper pieces the last time. I left and told her I'm not eating anything she gives me ever again. Frankly I'm considering not even speaking to her again at all.

My mouth really hurts and my tongue is all red and a few of my taste buds have turned white on the tip my tongue and popped up just within the last hour or so.

People talking like singing is shameful. They fail to realize why people sing in showers and in dark closets and other places where no one can hear or see: because of them. Because they love singing but they can't bear the thought of being ridiculed because of it. Look, you guys, I'll admit it. I love singing. I downright don't care what my voice sounds like or what you think, because I like it. So stop shaming me and get on to whatever you're doing.

tiring myself out overthinking whether everyone I ever interact with finds me weird and off putting for any greater-than-passing interactions and feel like they do think that based on the reception I occasionally get, kind of just want to crawl into a hole and existn't

Why does this shit always happen all at once in quick succession for me because lol.

So every night I let my kitten upstairs from between 9:30 PM to 12:00 AM to run around. My mom confronted me the moment I went upstairs today telling me that I had failed to take her down to my room at the proper time last night. I was like, "It was 12:05", but she just gave me a sharp, smug look and said, "be on time next time then", and then she went on about how I'm always on the defensive and all that. Gee mom, I wonder why I don't like spending my time around you a lot of the time.

Note: As for the comment above, it's not because I think she's a bad person, and it wasn't entirely related to this post in general. We just have completely incompatible personalities.

I came on here from mostly a "I'm a 26 year old teacher with a kid" hiatus. Aka busy and I talk to my forum friends on other media.
Anyways. I'm here specifically to vent because I couldn't find anyone to vent to and I just need to write it out.

Anyways. My book club and I were meeting and we chat about things that isn't our book. Anyways its a diverse group of different people. Somehow the new PJO show on Disney + came up and before I could rant about how proud I am of the kiddo casted as Percy; another person began slandering on the casting.

Now I know I had the image of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover from reading and art etc. But I'm so proud of all the kids casted and I know with Rick on the team it'll be good. But my one fellow bookclubber began saying how she didn't like the casting and compared if to the Harry Potter situation with the blue and green eyes thing.

I didn't get time to flip my ships. So I just am gonna do this here. I don't know Leah or Aryan personally. But the kiddo who is Percy? He's from my very block. And I want that women to know next time I am going to make her feel guilty for implying that because the kid doesn't "Look like Percy" means he can't play him. Because you try and live next door to a kid SO EXCITED to begin his acting career and bragging about meeting Ryan Reynolds for the Adam Project. Or talking to his parents and them saying how proud they are and me mentioning I'm a big PJO fan and he is SO GOING TO ROCK Percy Jackson after the casting. Like ma'am I can assure you that it doesn't matter what he looks like and will curbstomp this Karen.

insanely sick and tired of my ex friend sending me word docs saying things like 'youre gay but i still love you' and 'it was just lyrics to a song i made abt you dang youre overreacting' like OF COURSE IM REACTING??? she keeps sending me hateful and invalidating word docs swearing and throwing slurs at me and blaming me for what happened...

I'm struggling. My parents suck and I don't want to talk to anyone about these problems personally, because I hate worrying people. That's a thing about me that I hate. I bottle everything inside me and I never tell anyone what's going on. The only way to get anything serious out of me is to literally yell at me until I have a mental breakdown, and it sucks. I have a really great person in my life right now that makes me really happy, but I don't get to talk to him as much as I would like, and when I do I don't wanna frickin worry him or make him upset because of my stupid problems. My parents make me feel so insecure about myself and everything I do. If I do anything wrong they always have to say something and correct me. I'm glad this space is here. I'm sure I'll be fine! My parents just basically accused me of being Trans. They said I "dress like a guy" too much and I need to start wearing more "feminine" clothes, or else people are gonna think I'm a guy. Then they were acting like that's what I wanted.

When people trace other people's work one for one and sell it for profit, the original artists complain, and the copycat goes on a huge rant about how ridiculous it is and that because they drew it "it's original".

The world never ceases to entertain me sometimes.

It's so awkward passing by my mother when she asks me for her opinion on "her" art (which she traced one for one, color palette and all). I just have to grin and give her the thumb's up.  She's an avid believer that you should be able to copy anyone else's art and sell it because your passion and "God's heavenly will" will protect you.
