I do hope you get to move out and do whartever you want and are able look however you want while doing it.

Honestly I'm thankful our landlord is pretty decent about stuff and hasn't raised our rent but everywhere else is going so high up it also makes me feel like even if I did want to move I couldnt and we're gonna be stuck here which isn't ideal. The plan was to only live here for 3-5 years and find either a duplex or move back to my hometown bc houses there are much cheaper since more people move out than in and those who do move in are just there for college.

The housing crisis is insane right now. From what I understand, the main problem was that COVID stopped a lot of people moving for a couple of years, and construction slowed down at the same time. So now there's two years worth of people looking to move/buy property and way too little inventory, causing a crazy demand/supply issue.

We were hoping to buy a house over here. A couple of years ago, the average home price in my city was like $250k for 3-4 bedrooms, and saving for a 20% downpayment over a few years was an achievable goal with our current jobs. But the average price has literally doubled in two years*. Half a million dollars to buy tiny 2-bedroom homes 30-40 min outside the city. Our house dream was crushed. Even if we had the money, it's not worth it because the current market is unsustainable, and the property values will crash back down eventually... so we're forced to wait until that happens.

*In large part because all the big tech corporations are fleeing California in droves. Facebook, Google, Tesla, and Samsung have all recently moved major offices to my city, bringing all their employees. Our real estate market has been FLOODED. And nobody local can compete with Californians buying houses in cash, bc they sold their crappy old homes for millions. My parents' neighborhood is almost entirely Californians now. (I wish Californians realized they were economic refugees but they seem to think they're missionaries).

Meanwhile, our house savings are rapidly depreciating due to inflation. Yay. -_- Now we gotta figure out what to do with that money so it retains its value.

really sick and tired of my politics-obsessed aunt. i just wish she would go away and stop trying to start a 'political discussion' with me because it always ends in her insulting me, calling me a 'demo-rat' and just arguing which i don't have time for. i absolutely love politics but i'd rather have a civil discussion/debate than an argument

So my partner admitted that they don't find me very physically attractive, and to make matters worse they added in the fact that they find their sister's boyfriend to be super attractive, and he looks like the exact opposite of me I don't even know what to think. I get it, but yeahhhh... And even worse than that, is my favourite song that I always listened to in order to lift my spirits was removed from yt. On a more positive note, I did get some fantastic sleep yesterday.

I can't see the dr and get any anxiety, sleep, ADHD, or pain meds until I pay $770 I LOVE AMERICA !!!!!! woo !!!! Suffering 24/7 working to pay medical bills so I can work without pain and actually function just so I can pay more medical bills!! Livin the American dream right here !!

My mom just got sucked into another conspiracy theory wormhole and now I sit here mentally preparing myself to hear about the new world order once again for the 100th time. Love that for me.

Hey I just looked into this, and it looks like it only applies to groups of at least four unrelated adults? I can't find the original ordinance wording anywhere, but saw that part repeated across several different articles. So if I'm understanding right, I think you and Dakota would be okay to keep rooming together.

I got the news from word of mouth and havent been home and had the time to really look into things while im running errands today.

but oh my god why is my city so stupid. we've already been getting a worse homeless problem since 2020 and now this is just going to make it worse. people cant afford to live alone anymore.

The only argument i've seen so far at this point that is pro-this dumb law is from landlords who think they're not getting "their" pay equally from everyone living in the same building and want people to pay rent by head rather than a flat price by living/building space. But they can't accomplish this without breaking the law, so now they just want a law that forces people to rent different apartments. But. That's definitely not how this is gonna play out. It's just gonna evict people who would have otherwise made rent on time and throw them to the wolves.

So like: if rent for a 3 bedroom apartment is say, $2000, with 4 "unrelated" people living in it, instead of every person paying $500 they want every individual to be paying the whole rent because they think it's "unfair" to them. 🙃

Though my friend just made the joke that suddenly everyone is gonna have a lot of "cousins".
