{ @shootforthestars Welp, all aboard the angst train. It is very late and I'm tired, so have fun with this incomprehensible mess. I'm sorry I do not keep my promises about shorter posts.
I don't think we ever discussed how big the gangs are, but I think ˈR͡wioz͡ʻr̀e is probably a bit on the smaller side. Not sure how many would have died here, so that's still up in the air. You got lucky this time because I axed the dream sequence for length purposes, but it's still coming, so don't get too comfy.
Also, I love the word "dolt." It's just very fun. }

(So yeah, I fell off the face of the Earth there for a mintue. Part was because of school/finals, part sorting out some personal stuff, and part was reading a book that destroyed my heart. But anyway, I finally get to reply with Cris and Lys soon hopefully! I had a root canal today and my jaw is still numb and I'm a little tired and hungry because I haven't had a chance to eat, but I have a little bit of something written, which should be up soon as mentioned. Sorry for the wait. Anyway, language stuff was really cool to read through. I like how well thoughtout it us and I'm eager to see how else it's involved in the RP. It just adds another layer to everything. Speaking of, not only am I really liking Al, Harley, and Madoox, but I really like their reply thingies. They're really cool and look nice. Out of all the characters(which is a lot now) I'm still pretty sure Avani and Lu are the only ones who have a relatively good family life. Alex is actually unknown. Lilah is the dark family secret and kept hidden. Clarisse doesn't have a great relationship with her family. I think it was mentioned that Caspian isn't close with his parents. Zane has that mess going on. Lysandra's mother is dead, she doesn't know her father, and she left her grandparents at a fairly young age. Crispen has a complicated relationship with his family. Gabriel's family had forced great expectations on him. Al, Harley, and Madoox are all orphans. Also, none will tower over Avani. She shall remain a gaint out if everyone (with a possible expection of a few family memebers). I was also indeed describing Lys with a small build not in height. Anyway, I do agree that Avani's an EsomethingFsomething of some sort. I imagine her to be quite extroverted. I'm not sure about Lys and Cris, but I think Lys is introverted ans Cris is extroverted. Also, also I'm really sort. Five feet on the dot to be exact. So, I'm pretty sure you're all taller than me. Starchaser Don't worry about oversharing or anything. It's good to be able to let everything out from time to time, even if it's a typed-up rant/target thing. It's important to be able to have the ability to do that. @shootforthestars I hope the end of the semester didn't cause you too much stress or anxiety. On the bright side, it's over for now and you can rest. I also hope by now your sleep schedule is back on track. mossecho Sorry for the wait on Crispen, but thanks for another Alex post. It'll definitely help with my next reply. It's also cool that you based certian aspects of your characters off of people you know. I either used book characters or just try and connect a bunch of random things/ideas. Is there anything I missed and do I need to get up another Avani reply?)

{ Amber No need to apologize, but we're glad to have you back <3 I hope everything is relatively less hectic for you now. Take your time with the post, and feel better from your root canal. Dentist stuff is never fun.
I'm pretty happy with the languages so far, although I definitely could do better on a lot of them. Worldbuilding is fun though, and it brings it more to life for me. I've got most of the Families' languages somewhat planned out, save Shifters and Infernals. That's mostly just because I feel like all the subspecies are going to need their own offshoot languages, and that's a pretty daunting task for me who doesn't really get all the stuff. Shifters are especially hard because I don't quite know how to add all the sounds they would have. Also, I'm glad you like our little mage gang. I've been having way too much fun with it. Part of why I made so many characters is just because I liked customizing the coding a lot (and also because I have too many ideas, and want to experience all the Families).
Yeah, it seems like we have an affinity for angst and rough relationships. I think it's partially owed to us all being angst enthusiasts. I haven't explored Caspian's family dynamic much, mostly just because he hasn't been in RP yet, but it's definitely somewhat estranged. His parents aren't intentionally distant or anything, they're just very... ambivalent about raising children in the first place. They're government workers and both kinda wrapped up in their own stuff. Caspian was completely unplanned, hence why he's an only child and his parents are on the older side to be having their first kid, but he's not resented. Just kinda forgotten. His mother isn't really the affectionate type as it is, she sort of treats Caspian as more of a protégé. I imagine his father is more openly loving, but he's still absent-minded. Little Caspian spent more time with other relatives than his parents and everyone was just sort of accidentally neglectful, at least in terms of actually forming a bond. A lot of why Caspian struggles to make real connections with people is because he just doesn't have a lot of experience in that area. He's very much in denial of anything in his life being less than ideal though.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm starting to see a pattern of all my characters having poor family lives. Zane and Lilah are the most obvious examples of that. I can already imagine Avani starting to learn about everyone's families and just being shocked. Maybe at some point they all visit her family and her parents are like "Guess what, we're adopting all of you." I don't know how accurate that would be, but it came to mind.
I have the feeling the Lancasters are generally pretty terrible family members. They have a penchant for raising insecure, neurotic perfectionists, and a lot of that just has to do with their status and placing unrealistic expectations on people from an early age. There's a reason Luna turned out how she did. I haven't delved into it much yet, I was planning on sharing side character lore on the extras page (though I'm considering making a character section for ancestors/deceased at this point), but Luna and Lilah are sort of two sides of the same coin. They technically had similar upbringings, luxury and prestige from birth, but Luna wasn't a bastard child either. Yet, their issues more or less stem from the same problems, even if they had very different outcomes.
Luna was the youngest of eight (Mages used to have a lot more kids, being in the middle of a war and all, a kind of macabre truth, but they needed a lot of people to keep things running and replace the fallen), so always the overlooked one and became very desperate to prove herself. She was the rebel problem child, which got her into a bit of trouble, but mostly did nothing (they were in a war, bigger issues and all). At the time, the Lancasters were the most prominent of the Royal Houses. The way old Mage society worked is that there was one absolute monarch over the entire empire, which was in turn made up of smaller kingdoms and territories. Royal Houses were the ruling lines of various kingdoms, while smaller Houses were just nobility with parcels of land, and then there were those who just didn't really play any big roll. The monarch was always chosen by the previous one, usually from one of the Royal Houses, who would then get better resources and stuff. I don't want to get too into government stuff, but Luna's aunt was the Empress at the time and she really wanted to become her successor. We know how that ended though.
That's fair about Avani, it just works for her lol. I now imagine Alex as 6'3, but that still makes Avani the tallest. I think I'm slightly feeling ENFP for Avani, but I could see her as one of the S and/or J types too. I think ENFP overall encompasses her best though, but ESFJ might work too. I figured that might have been the case with Lys. I do find it lowkey hilarious that our group in real life is the opposite of prophecy crew. Our characters are a bunch of tols with one smol, while in-person we're most all on the short side. I don't know Shoot's exact height, but I'm think we established she's the tallest.
Also, thanks! Sorry I got off on a tangent about characters this time.
Also also, I don't think you missed much. The party has kind of been paused so we could play The Outsiders. I do think it's your turn for Avani in the interaction, but if it would help, I can add another Zane or Gabriel post. }

[[ Hi Amber! Great to see you again! (:
No hard feelings about your absence, it's okay. Real life gets in the way sometimes, I completely get that, and I'm sure no one here will ever blame you for it. Hope everything gets better soon. Out of curiosity, what book was it? (Also, all the best to you and your recovering jaw <3)
Honestly I'm still working out Alex's family life. Vampires have a very strong sense of family, but it's more for political and loyalty purposes than actual affection. Most of what I have so far is that he has decent, but not great, relationships with his parents and older brother.
Avani is the Group Giraffe™, no question about it xD
No need to apologize for the wait! I didn't want to overstep too much with the RP, so honestly idk what there is in that post to respond to, but I really look forward to reading your post! Also, don't think there's much else to say. Seems like you've read through everything, so... yeah! Great to have you back (: ]]

Starchaser OK, so sorry for the wait! My family has been busy catching feral cats for a TNR program and man, has it been eventful. We've got about half of them now so we're excited that we are going to make a difference for the babies. Three are them are kittens so we are hopeful that they can be adopted out and go to good homes! Anyways, enough about that.
I say that probably at least 10-15 were injured and possibly killed, but I dunno. XD Dolt is one of my favorite words along with dingus.
Also, I don't know if I missed it somewhere in the last few replies, but what do the twins look like?? XD
Also also, I figured that the gang would probably have search parties trying to find the babies so I went that route to assist them. Especially since Al was already pretty beat up and now Harley is and Madds isn't much better.)
I can confidently saw that this is my favorite clip right now. This is Al when Harley went back for those cores. XD I freaking love this quote.
Altalune "Al" Abernathy “And When I breathed, my breath was lightning." - Black Elk
♤ ⤐ ϟ The Bat Wielding Manic ϟ ⬷ ♤
Altalune didn't consider herself an emotional person. Yet, as Maddox opened his eyes, the mage's tears slipped forward, hitting the man's chest as she let out a ragged sigh of relief. Her voice cracked, "Yeah, I'm alive.."
She didn't bother to answer the the question as he seemed progressively aware at how idiotic is sounded when the world was burning around them. The adrenaline had all but worn off from the earlier scare and now, as her body stiffened with cold and the world spun around her, she remembered the day her mother died. No, the day she had stumbled upon her mother's miserable effort to depart from their Voraxa condemned life.
The sight of her mother's shattered skull and the smell of lingering Anima... so like the scene around them. But she had vomited and wailed and froze then. Everything had changed in the those after.
Al lifted a shaking hand to her eyes to smear away the tears, hissing at the pain associated with the motion. Everything burned. Her legs felt deadened. When she could see again, she pulled herself off Maddox and up against a large chuck of the destroyed ceiling. She examined him quickly and narrowed her eyes, "Don't. Looking will make it harder."
Especially if they were going to find Harley. She couldn't have him breaking down from the horrific sights and smells before they found him. If they could find him. Al watched as he struggled to his feet. When he announced the plan to find Harley, she nodded tensely, "Look, I agree, but I don't know if I walk, Mad - And there he goes."
Altalune bit her lip, struggling against the desire to lay there and limit the damage any further. Her left arm and shoulder were undoubtably completely shattered; there was no feeling it even in the pain. A twitch of her fingers was all she had managed when she had first come too. And the throbbing in her ankle would be problematic.
She watched him go with a disgruntled groan. Al squeezed her eyes together. I'll never forgive myself if I don't go with him. Broken ankle and bleeding wounds can heal, Al. It'll be over in a few minutes. In a few minutes. In a few minutes.
Her throat shredded with the force of her scream as she used the last of her arm strength to pull herself up to her feet. Al breathed heavily, gripping the large pieces of rubble and debris to keep herself on her feet. Slowly, she followed the healer. breaking her rule of looking, she scanned what little was left of the bodies and faces.
Nothing. Not here either. Harley, where are you...?
"Al, over here!"
The call startled her, but she was there as soon as she could. As her eyes burned again when she saw him crumbled on the ground, Al wondered if she had gone soft within the last few months, years. She had seen plenty of her friends and family be critically injured... die afterwords. She grit her teeth, "Harley, I swear if you don't get up, I'll - "
In a moment of overwhelming anger and shock, she lowered her head, bit back a sob, and exchanged it for a whimper . Yes, baby... I'll see you in a few minutes. Eyes wide, she watched her family plead for him to wake up, to move, to do anything. Just like she had pled for him to do so only moments earlier. But it wouldn't go them any good.
She had seen her mother only minutes later, but she wished she hadn't. And now she wished that they hadn't come just to see Harley's dead body. There was no closure there. Al whimpered again, "Madds... Madds, please."
She didn't know what she was begging for. Al buried her hands in her head as the grief started to set in, unaware of the movement of the "dead" man. It was the swear that made her eyes shoot to the scene. She stared for a moment and stared longer as the two men bantered back in forth.
Loud laughter sprung forth from deep within her chest and there was no bit to her rancid insults, "You ˈam͡mae̯ȟ͡l c͡fun͡g is͡cˈempeˌi mage from Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s..." Her hair fluttered around her face as he blasted the rock away from herself and she closed her eyes in sheer relief at the sound of her teasing. "Oh, your scar will be cooler than the other side of the pillow. All your lovers will swoon to see it, you insufferable, idiotic dingus."
The crushing reality that they had all lived the explosion wasn't lost on her. Sure, the building was still falling apart and they could still very well die any moment, but they were alive. They were alive. By the gods, they had lived. It brought a smile to her lips and helped her gather her strength for the return journey.
The smoke seemed to be thinning which was odd since the fires didn't seem to be waning. The familiar crackle of green Anima was her first hint that something was happening. Her second hint was a deep voice.
"They're back here! We found them!"
Al yelled out in joy, "Hyden! Madds, Harley, Hyden found us!"
The smoke was yanked forward like air into a vacuum. She gripped the rubble to maintain her footing, closing her eyes against the force of the wind. When she opened them, she was staring into the cocoa eyes of Hyden, the gang's best diviner. His scarred lips quirked up at the sight of all three of them and Al all but fell into the massive man.
"Hyden, you beautiful mage!"
He chuckled at the dramatic display despite the worry that swam in his eyes as he surveyed the trio. He looked over Al, but lingered on Harley, "We're going to get all of you out of here. We found most of the others hours ago... We had almost given up hope that we would find you alive. Come on."
Al let him shoulder most of her weight as he assisted Maddox with Harley as well. She sighed and allowed Hyden to guide them to safety.

(A few things real quick, where exactly are the two groups? I thought Lilah and co had gone to the same bar where Zane and Redis already were, but that doesn't seem to be the case? Also, if everyone's fine with it, I'm going to go ahead and try and bridge the two groups together.)

(Dentist stuff does suck, but I'm feeling great today and my jaw is only slightly sore, maybe? It's actually hard to tell, but it's less sore than yesterday and even then it wasn't bad. Things are also way less hectic other than still happily reeling from information about one my favorite books/series. Avani is definitely the Group Giraffe™. Though maybe Group Elephant™ is more of a fit considering she's also very buff. Also, it's even funnier I guess because she doesn't exactly realize just how big she is. She's been surrounded by people either around her size or unfazed/unintimidated by it all her life, so she doesn't realize other people are a bit off put by her. Anyway, maybe I'll do a personality test thing for her and post the results because now I'm curious to really pin it doen. Might also do the same for Cris and Lys too. Anyway, look at us, we're all short except for Shoot probably. It is funny that we're the opposite of the party. Actually, probably a mjaoirty of the characters are rather tall, right? I guess through RP things like getting a full night's sleep or being tall are things we can achieve with the characters in a way. I didn't intent to have so much. First, it was just going to be Avani and Cris, but then I wanted to get something up for Lysandea so all that happened. So yeah. Have fun with it. Starchaser Honestly, you really should be happy/proud with all the language stuff. I would be too lazy to do it because it's a lot of work and here you are (with some help from Moss and Shoot) churning them out. It's very cool and I can't wait to see what else you come up with. Worldbuilding in general is great and I really love getting sucked in and lost for hours just planning things or playing around with various concepts. The language stuff adds just an extra layer to it all. Also yes, the mage gang was a brilliant idea all around. I'm curious to see how they'll fit with the rest of the RP. That is very true. While happy stories are great and it's always nice letting the character having a good upbringing (case and point for me: Avani), it's also very fun to just pull them through the gutter. Anyway, unintentionally absent parents isn't great and Caspian's life just sounds kinda sad. That'll be an interesting thing to open up to when everyone focefully adopts him after getting over being annoyed by his arrogance. And yeah, Avani will feel sad for all their stories and won't be happy at the treatment they receive. And neither would her family. Her family would also totally adopt all of them. That's going to be great when we get there. Whereas Caspian's family isn't the best, there's at least some semblance of trying in a way. Meanwhile, Lilah's family just seems straight up dysfunctional. Lilah has the whole baggage of being perfectionist and a vastard child, Gabriel for all his arrogance is clearly dealing with some stuff about not being in the prophecy, and that's only scratching the surface I can imagine. I like the idea of Luna (We should totally have a section for the deceased/ancestors) kindasorta being a foil for Lilah. Their shared upbringings will be interesting when it comes into play. Luna's backstory is quite interesting. It makes sense for having a whole lot of kids at a time like that, but as mentioned there are morbid undertones to it. I don't mind (fantasy) government stuff, but I get your point. Anyway, being related to royalty sounds like it comes with a lot of pressure and yeah it didn't turn out great for any of them. Also, don't apologize for talking about your characters. I love hearing about them. Also, also sounds good. Thanks! Also, also, also do you think Lys and Cris would know of Al, Maddox, Harley, Beatrix, and Devland seeing as they're also criminals? I mean they're a different type of criminal and aren't involved with gang stuff, but still. Speaking of, I looked at the extras page earlier and noticed that elementals eyes correspond with their element in a way (there's also scent, but I'm focusing on eyes right now). So I said Lysandra has bright green eyes, but is a void elemental. Seeing as she doesn't like sharing that fact with people/making it obvious, I was thinking maybe she had some sort of charm to hide voidish features like the eyes. With that in mind, what do you think void elementals eyes would look like? I would imagine quite dark, maybe with a ring of color around it, but I'm curious to see if you had anything in mind. And you too, mossecho ! Rhythm of War, fourth book in Stormlight Archive. I cried or teared up a good few times, but that's to be expected because that happens at least once a book. And I'm still not over it and the author just confirmed a thing last might that'll be relevant in later books and keeps doing these things that literally take up half my thought for most of the day and... I just can't handle it, but it's all good. Sorry for the rambling, but like...I need to speak on it. Ah that's cool. With vampires not being very affectionate, it'll be interesting to see how he grows when he's shown affection by his friends after they forcfully adopt him. Don't worry you didn't. In fact, your post helped me get back on track, so that was great. It's also honestly nice to be back.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
Clarisse eagerly called out to her friends, smiling excitedly as she motioned for Avani and Gabriel to follow. Their attention turned to the three of them as they headed towards them. Avani quickly joined the other woman at the front of the group while the mage was a little slower in his approch. As soon as they arrived at the end of the bar, the werewolf reintroduced the three of them. Avani smiled at the pair and gave a small wave, still glad to know they were Clarisse's friends and not one of the people who would harm her. "Of course I remember zem! It's nice to meet you two again."
Clarisse unhooked her arm from Avani's and turned her attention to Zane, apologizing for her lateness who, of course, forgave her. After greetings were passed around, Avani quickly caught up Zane and Redis on their current information and plans. Her attention shifted to Gabriel as he spoke up, explaining that stealing the necklace was likely the best option. Clarisse voiced her agreement on the matter. The angel frowned.
"Are you sure zey vould be opposed to handing it over for the sake of our future? Surely zey vould understand its importance and give us ze necklace for ze betterment of ze vorld..." Avani trailed off and sighed. It really seemed like they thought it was the only way to get it, and she wasn't sure if she could argue aganist the idea. If they all strongly believed theft was their only option, she would go along with it. Before she said anything more, Zane asked how they would go about getting the necklace. Clarisse--who was fiddling with some of her jewlery--turned to Avani.
"But I think it should be Avani's choice. She was the one that saw it. That's got to mean something, right?" Avani's attention snapped towards the werewolf at her suggestion. The angel offered a friendly smile to Clarisse, greatful that she asked for her input. However, she was also uneasy. "I...If you zink it's the only vay, zen ve have to steal it from him. Ze fate of ze vorld is more important zan my feelings about theft. Zough, I don't zink it vould be great for me to be ze one to steal ze necklace. I'm...I'm not sure if I could do it. Not only do I feel uncomfortable vith ze idea, I'm not exactly built for sneaking around." The angel sighed again, unsure of what they'd do.
Clarisse suddenly pulled herself away from Avani and Gabriel and turned her attention to Zane, getting quite close to him. Redis turned away, focusing his attention back at the bar. He seemed...uncomfortable was the best way to describe it. Before Avani had a chance to ask if he was okay, something caught her eye. Turning to her left, a red-haired man with pointed ears was glaring at something--or perhaps someone--in a crowd of guests. Vhat's he doing? Avani would get no answers through her thoughts, so the angel asked him.

Lysandra Floros "The best liars are those who tell the truth most of the time."- Vin The Dancing Void
What did Crispen get me into this time? The woman wondered as the vampire--Alex--outstreched his hand and introduced himself. Lysandra took a moment to study him before taking his hand. His posture was stiff and ridged. Shoulders a little too flawlessly positioned, back almost unnaturally straight, and an outstretched arm perfectly unmoving as he waited for her. His dark clothing was immaculate and clearly marked him as being relatively wealthy. There was an almost nervous air about him--as though he threatened to faint or panic at any moment. There was nothing really wrong with him, but all those elements combined together created an odd sight. It all felt too...practiced and unnatural.
Despite waiting for her to return the handshake, Alex seemed to be studying something else. Not her, it seemed, but perhaps the room or the others around the bar. There was a slight twitching to his face and a too steady breathing as though he was keeping focused on something. After a few seconds had passed, the elemental finally took the vampire's hand and delicately shook it in greeting.
"Nice to meet you Alexander Rojas Lopez of the Antier Coven, by the Sinresol River in the Derramar Valley. I am Lysandra Floros and you already had the...pleasure of meeting my friend, Crispen." Vampires were quite formal and generally liked their full titles to be used. She didn't know much about them--or what exact titles would be appropriate for Alex--but their extreme formality was one thing she could count on. After greetings were exchanged, the elemental turned her attention to the rest of the party.
While the earlier buzz had died down, there were still plenty activity in the party. Lysandra's green eyes flickered towards a group of three as they joined the two men at the end of the bar. One of the newcomers--the man--looking somewhat familiar. She had probably seen him at previous parties before in passing. The other two were more interesting.
One was a heavenly, an angel to be exact. She was a giant and would've been more intimidating had it not been for a pleasant smile on her face. She wore the garments of the other entertainers over normal clothing. It was odd. The other was likely a shifter, mage, elemental, or well-disguised infernal. She too was tall, just without the bulk her companion had. She was also, obviously, quite wealthy. The short dress was made from some sort of expensive fabric while the various items of jewelry was probably worth a small fortune. If it weren't for the big group and Crispen's new friends, she would've been tempted to steal the bracelet from the woman.
As the studied the group, someone grabbed her wrist and lightly tugged on it as if eager to show her something. Lysandra turned sharply and found Cris looking a bit worried. The elemental frowned and tilted her head as he spoke.
"Lysandra, I think we have a small pest problem."

(Sorry for spamming with replies. Didn't really know how to seprate them in one post. Might edit it later. Also, I wasn't sure how observant Zane, Redis, Clarisse, and Gabreil are, so I'm not sure if they would've noticed Crispen or not.)
Crispen Valdmiri "Treat everyday with a smile so it doesn't know what you're planning on doing to it." - Wayne The Mischevious Grifter
It wasn't hard to miss Alex's careful touch and prodding with Lilah as he guided her to the bar. It was pleasant to see the mage had such a good friend to care for her in a time of need. Someone she actually knew and not a disguised serving staff memeber who was actually a thief trying to steal a fsncy necklace from her. After a few introductions were exchanged and Lys had been fully convinced to help the pair, Lilah had been guided to sit down as Alex and the elemental greeted each other. It seemed to be a welcome change for the mage at least. Once they got some food and water in her, it would all be good. Speaking of, she was accepting tea from another server just then. The short woman gave a quick nod before she was off again.
"Good thinking with the tea, Lilah. It should help you," Crispen hummed with a smile. "Lys and I will help you and Alex look for those folks need for the prophecy thing or your destiny or whatever it is. Everything will be okay." The half-fae glanced at Lysandra as she studied the group at the other end of the bar. The night hadn't turned out as either of them wanted, but that was okay. It was probably even better than he could've expected and he was fine with the occasional failure if it meant having a new adventure.
He turned his attention back to the main crowd, wondering what their next move should be. It was easy to say they'd help find, but could it actually be accomplished? Whoever they were looking for could be anywhere. The Sactum was a huge city with plenty of districts people could get lost in. Each one held thousands--or so it seemed--making it nearly impossible to find whoever they needed. That wasn't even accounting for the possiblity they weren't even in the Sactum in the first place. Crispen nearly shuddered at the thought. For now, he just pushed it out of his mind. They would find Lilah's and Alex's companions. It would all turn out-
The half-fae froze as he looked out into a crowd. An all too familiar half-shifter, half-infernal had grabbed his attention. Suppressing panic, Crispen stepped to Lys and grabbed her wrist. It was worth the glare he earned from her. "Lysandra, I think we have a small pest problem." The woman sighed and looked to where he pointed. She paused and nearly stumbled as she stepped back.
Hywel Iver.
The half-shifter was idely chatting up a group of two women and another man, likely spinning some story of a heroic deed he accomplished or grand adventure he expierenced. Whatever it was, his audience was captivated by his words. They laughed whenever he told a joke, "ooed" at the right times, and asked the correct questions for the man to continue his spectacle. Of course, Crispen couldn't hear any of it even with his fae senses, but it's what one could expect with Iver. Showoff.
Last thing they needed was for the arrogant peacock to notice them and strike up a conversation wherein he'd insult, annoy, and mock them the entire time. Even if Hywel did look rather dashing in his tradtional black-and-white suit, it was not worth the trouble he'd bring. Not only did Crispen want to leave with some of his pride tonight, he didn't like the thought of having Hywel around Lilah or her quiet friend.
As the half-mage glared at the man, Hywel Iver's gaze suddenly flickered to the bar. Luckily, another group of obviously druken party guests passed between them, obsecuring the half-shifter's view. Lys quickly spun around, turning her back from the man and obescuring her face. Without missing a beat, Crispen steadied his hand on the bar and leapt over the counter, landing in a crouch on the other side. The pair working the bar gasped in surprise before glaring at him.
The half-fae only gave an apologetic shrug in reply, remaining hidden. The two rolled their eyes, but said nothing as they continued their work. With a sigh of relief, Crispen began to make his way towards the bigger crowd on the other side of the bar--careful not to get higher than the counter. From there he could watch Hywel until he moved on and join back with the others. Once safely on the other side, Crispen popped his head up. He paid no mind to the small group at the bar as he looked in the crowd for his target. They seemed to be distracted anyway and he still looked like the serving staff, so he would probably go unnoticed. That's what often happened anyway.
One of the bartenders hurried past him and tended to the sad-looking red-headed fellow as Crispen focused on the small group from earlier. He found The Smug Bastard still chatting up a storm with them. Figures, the man thought as he narrowed his eyes at Hywel Iver. He deserved a good glaring, even if he didn't see it. Caught up in his intense stare at the other man, Crispen didn't see the angel had finally noticed him.
"Vhat are you looking at?" The half-mage nearly jumped in surprise at the large woman's presence. She was tall and quite musclar. Crispen probably looked pathetic in comparison. As she gave him a friendly smile, the half-fae relaxed some. She surely was no threat.
"Am I that obvious?" He finally mused, finding his voice.
"You're just staring off into ze crowd, so I zought somezing vas happening. Anyvay, I'm Avani." The strange woman--Avani--gave him a small wave and smiled. Crispen hesitated for a moment before returning the smile and wave. The angel had a thicker accent than what he was used to, but it seemed to fit her.
"Hello Avani, it's nice to meet you. I'm Crispen, but you can call me Cris or Crisp or Pen or whatever you want, really." The half-fae glanced back over towards Hywel Iver and his companions. They still hadn't moved. Great.
"Vhat vere you staring at? Anyzing interesting?"
"No, not really," he tried to lie. Of course, that rarely worked out for him. "Okay, that's not entierly true, but it wouldn't be something you're interested in. Just some guy who I don't really like."
"Oh. Vhy don't you like him? Is he rude?"
"Quite rude, actually." The man paused and checked for Hywel Iver. The half-infernal finally split off from the group and disappeared into the next room. Crispen smiled proudly, as though he had won a silent match if wits. Turning back to Avani, a part of him was almost sad to end the brief conversation with the angel. "It was nice talking to you Avani, but I need to get back to my friends. One of them's not feeling too well and I'm trying to help her find some people she needs to meet." The angel narrowed her eyes curiously and leaned forward slightly.
"Oh, vhat's vrong vith her? Maybe I can help seeing as I'm an angel vho can heal people. Also do you know vho she's looking for?" Crispen thought it over for a moment. Avani seemed nice enough, but was it really a good idea to bring her to Lilah? She trusted him and he didn't want to break that trust. Besides, it was probably best that only a few people really saw her in her tipsy state. As for the matter of her second question, he wouldn't answer that. It was simply unwise to tell a complete stranger the purpose of someone else's goals. Before Crispen could reply, something stopped him in his tracks. Avani, of course, hadn't been alone. Unfortunately among her little group of friends was Gabriel Lancaster. And he had made it clear that he didn't want the half-fae anywhere near his family.

{ @shootforthestars No worries! That sounds really cool, btw. I used to help with a program back before I moved, but there isn't one around here as far as I know. Sorry mine's a bit late too, I'm having a bit of an off day, and the research took a while. I wrote most of this super late yesterday and I'm aware it's a bit dull, but... more excuses about the Writer's Block. I'm also not checking it for issues, good luck. Also, Shoot stop giving me the feels challenge 2k21. Btw, I'm weirdly attached to Hyden already. I dunno, I like him, let's keep him.
I'm gonna go with the around 8 having been injured and four killed then, giving us a total of 12 directly affected by the explosion. The rest were outside already when it happened, and there were a few back at the headquarters or whatever for reasons. I don't know the technicalities of everything (I'll be honest and admit I'm very stupid about most real world/common sense things), but I'm imagining there were a few search parties that split up. Some would take anyone seriously injured back, while others would keep looking and yeah.
Oh, you didn't miss anything, I just haven't ever explained it. Mostly because I'm not really sure what I want them to look like yet. Uhm, I had some vague ideas. I wasn't sure whether I wanted them to be identical or fraternal, I'm ultimately going with identical I guess, but how anima manifests can slightly influence how Mages look, so genetics can be cancelled out at times. Also, identical twins can have small differences between them. I'm thinking they have dirty blond hair, but Harley dyes his a lot. Usually black, like his soul (he thinks), but he can be seen sporting just about any color. Harley is about 5'9.5" I'm thinking, while Madds is 5'8. Probably their eyes is mainly where you can tell the difference (despite the fact that twins normally have the same color eyes, I'm getting to that), and partially style (Harley embraced bad boy look, Maddox is a little more reserved).
So, I'm sort of going off the headcanon that magic affects appearance, namely eye color. Anima used to bring about a ton of differences, but it's not as potent as it was before the Cataclysm. For Mages, different aspects of anima are associated with different colors, and for elementals different elements seem to add qualities of sorts of to appearance. For some reason, these manifest most strongly in the eyes, totally not because I like giving characters bizarre eye colors that make sense within the world. Now, I realize Al's best magic is evocation and her magic is blue (which would indicate artifice as her strongest aspect), so this isn't entirely consistent. I'm chalking it up to anima being Like That. Their faces have literally no defining features I can put to them right now.
Harley has air and little anima magic; evocation, apportation, and transmutation are the only aspects he has any control over, and it's limited even then. Madds has earth, but his anima magic is stronger; his strongest aspects are probably abjuration and alchemy. So Maddox's eyes are going to be more "earthy" in color and vibrancy, and his are also probably going to seem "harder" than most people's. For his eye color then, I'm thinking yellow-orange, which isn't what I originally imagined but I didn't have much in mind. Harley's elemental side is stronger and therefore a lot more influential. I'm not too sure what qualities air will show, probably seeming more wild and changeable (stormy is probably a good word) if that can even be conveyed physically, which I think works well for his personality tbh. So Harley's eyes are light blue, but probably very dark right around the pupil, possibly with some hints of green. Or, if I wanted to take the hybrid thing to a metaphorical level, they both have heterochromia, with each eye displaying the characteristics of one species more heavily. I might do that if I'm feeling extra enough. For now, I don't really care how you choose to describe them. Honestly, I don't mind ideas if you had imagined anything in particular already.
Harley being an air elemental is also why takes more time to feel the effects of a certain injury. Don't worry, Harley, it's just a little traumatic pneumothorax/hemothorax combo deal with a side of shock. And, like, some other stuff. Don't be such a baby. And, yes, this is all medically sound. 100% Star never does anything unrealistic in roleplays. Also, he wont die... yet. How that comes to pass remains to be seen, though I have a bit of a headcanon/idea I might touch on later.
Yeah, that makes sense and definitely helps out. To make up for long explanations, this post is a little shorter. Me: this post will be short This post: 1962 words
I had them just arriving back home though because I figured it would be easiest. Also for the ~drama~ of everyone being all sad and injured and dying
I love that video so much xD I've watched it way too many times and I love the idea of Harley being a "fruit loop dingus bustafooligan." Poor Al, stuck with the most problematic members of her gang. Harley is a bit like Caspian in that he always struck me as a kind of a flirter and peacock, albeit in a different way than Caspian. Harley has expensive tastes, he loves stealing high-end stuff when he can, like his beautiful leather jacket. Mages in general are actually big on physical appearance, they like to customize and experiment, and pretty much any style is celebrated because they emphasize uniqueness. As I said though, Harley goes straight for bad boy styles, but he undeniably puts way more effort into his looks than the rest of the gang. Everyone's just kinda like ? lol okay. And he's a huge flirt, to pretty much anyone, even casually to those within the gang (I have the distinct urge to give him a Bonnie and Clyde style romance). No one is immune to Harley being a coquette (within reason, of course). Just don't flirt back, you'll fluster him like nothing else. He is the flusterer, you can't do that, ya criminal scum. He's also secretly a cuddler. Basically, he's a cat. He'll pretend he doesn't want anything to do with you, but then you'll be minding your business and he's like "pay attention pls? give pets?" }

{ @shootforthestars The moment of truth (: Sorry for the wait. I haven't been getting much sleep these past few days, but I crashed very hard today, so I should be able to spend as much time as it takes to get caught up on replies tonight. I'm also sorry for how short this is. It was originally a Zane-Gabriel combo post, but that got awfully lengthy so I split them. While that made this take a long time, at least the next post is almost done.
Amber Avani is referenced in here, but not interacted with much, I'm doing more with her in Gabriel's post coming up next. }

{ General Alright, I am trying to not make my posts so plot-progressing since we're bringing a lot of different characters together and I want everyone to have time to interact. That said, I did want to be able to join the groups finally, I'll keep it briefer next few posts once everyone is together.
Amber Well, I'm glad you're feeling better Being happily destroyed by books is always a good feeling too. I'll address Lys and the rest of Crispen's post in my Lilah response btw.
I love Avani being a gentle giant who doesn't realize she's a bit scary. I also find it kind of amusing how it seems the taller the characters are, the less prone to violence/fight-y-ness they are. Not everyone follows this pattern, but a lot do. Personality tests are super fun, if you get the time you should totally check them out for your charries. Yeah, I think the large majority of our characters are tall, or at least above-average. Lilah is my shortest character and she's roughly the same height as me. Ramiel, my valkyrie character I've neglected to give a form at the moment, will probably be my tallest given he's a Heavenly (and I headcanon valkyries are the tallest species, on average). Maddox is my next shortest character, and he's not all that short.
Honestly, the more the merrier! I loved all your posts too, so don't worry about it <3 I just have so many characters to contend with (okay, only like five but) that I'm cutting some down. Actually, I lied. Everyone's getting spammed by me next.
It has been really fun and interesting! I just wish I were a bit better at it, but I'm working on it. Hopefully the languages will all be more fleshed out soon. Worldbuilding is definitely one of my favorite things, and this RP has provided a lot of really good opportunities for it. I always love hearing what everyone comes up with and bouncing ideas around with you all. That in mind, I had a bit of an idea for Heavenlys, mainly angels, if you're all right with it. Basically, since they channel Lux and are sources of it, I was thinking angel blood and maybe feathers had healing properties? Sort of like unicorn horns in mythology. They could be put in medicines applied to wounds to create a sort of cure-all, though the potency would vary. In the past then, maybe some of the other Families would hunt Heavenlys for this purpose. Maybe in the present days there would be a sort of blood donor thing where Heavenlys could volunteer do it, with proper medical procedures in place though (it would basically be like transfusions, but not as direct), unlike before. It would only be used in very dire cases though. That all seems a bit morbid though, but thinking about the Great Wars had me in that kind of mood.
Also, yes, Mage gang has been super fun. I'm hoping to have them interact with the prophecy group later one (I have a vague idea about museum heist taking place in Mage Nation), so that should be interesting.
I can't help but incorporate angst in most of my character's lives. Now, I did give my two new Heavenly characters better backgrounds, but they're not perfect either. It is, as you said, just enjoyable somehow. I think because the payoff of giving them at least somewhat happy endings feels even better.
Caspian's life is definitely sad, but he doesn't really realize it, more so he ignores it. Part of that is because he actually doesn't know his life is sad though. He just kind of assumes nobody has close relations and that everyone is more focused on themselves. I tried to model him after Veive a bit (since they might end up being long lost twins), both in appearance and personality (he also doesn't "do" angst), but Caspian is obviously rather different. Avani being everyone's adopted sister and mom friend of the group is perfect and wholesome, I love it <3 The prophecy crew is going to be so shocked to see a functional family, they'll probably just think it's weird.
Yeah, Caspian's family isn't the best, but they aren't purposely bad. The Lancasters are, oh dear, where to even begin. Dysfunction, dysfunction everywhere. So many dark secrets and skeletons in the closet. I like my rich families with bad histories. At lot of their not having good relationships stems from being so disconnected with normal society, and as you've pointed out, unattainably high expectations. This makes all of them turn out somewhat problematic. That can manifest in a lot of variable ways across the family, but most all of them have trouble with relationships. Gabriel and Lilah both dealt with a lot of high expectations, it was just that Gabriel was generally believed to fulfill them, though there's still an essence of "never enough" in both of them.
A lot of Gabriel's problems stem from him being told how wonderful he is and all the great things he'll accomplish, despite him knowing that's not really true. He's more gifted/accomplished than most, sure, but it doesn't amount to much in the face of everything the rest of his family has done. And Lilah is clearly among the most magically powerful of the family. This all kind of makes Gabriel feel lied to and wondering if anything he's done is actually related to skill, or whether it's just his bloodline getting him places. So seeing as he doesn't have some grand destiny, he feels like he's letting everyone down, and now his life essentially has no purpose. Which suddenly makes it seem a lot angstier, especially when considering the outcome I have planned for him.
Anyways, yes, I've always loved the idea of Luna being a foil of sorts, despite actually being more similar to Lilah than she lets on. It will start to come up eventually. A lot of why Luna is so hostile towards Lilah is because of how much of herself she sees there, and she is a bit miffed that Lilah, in her mind, threw away all her chances for power. She was given all the tools she'd ever need to be a proper prophecy candidate... but she ran away from it. She sees it as a waste of potential when she never even had the option to show her ability (which partially led to her role in the Cataclysm as well). She's had plenty of time to see all the terrible things her bloodline has done now, but she's mostly responsible for instilling those "victory at all costs" and "because fate said so" principles that led to a lot of the family's dysfunctional attitude.
So, in a sense, she understands the aversion, but that's the problem. The more chosen ones who have come and gone, the less she's able to fool herself into thinking what she did was ultimately for the best. Part of the irritation is also because she knows Lilah's the last chance at beating the curse (well, for her Family), which she's extending to reflecting on her. If Lilah fails, so does Luna, which is why she's been the most pushy. She does not want that reflecting poorly back on her. All that to say, Luna doesn't hate Lilah. She's kind of annoyed by what she sees as her simultaneous self-defeating behavior and inability to recognize how much she could do if she only wouldn't be so "woe is me" about everything, but she does see good qualities there. She also favors the "tough love" approach, which makes sense since that's more or less how her parents were. Oh, we love emotional baggage that last millennia.
Okay, so got off another tangent there. Sorry, Amber! I know it happens way too frequently, but thank you for being so patient about it and indulging me thus far.
Funny you should mention that, I had the same thought myself. I see the gang as operating most in Mage territory, but maybe visiting Sanctum at times (it's a city rife with resources and wealth, how could they not try to get take advantage of that?). I'm not sure where Crispen and Lys really live, but if Cris is in Mage Nation at times, he may have had a few run-ins with them. Maybe just seeing them in passing, not really interacting. Or maybe he just knows of them. They also might have crossed paths in Sanctum. Shoot and I talked about how lots of the gang probably has family they don't know about and looking at the relations page, I realized I'm overlooking an obvious potential choice. Harley and Madds are half-elementals who never knew their father (the elemental), while Lys also never knew her father (who is obviously an elemental). Could be a case of unaware half-siblings? It's your choice, of course, but an idea.
Honestly, the thing about eyes was just an idea because I was trying to give each Family some defining characteristics. I've been trying to let everyone handle most of their respective Family's information, but since Spider is gone indefinitely, I've been trying to get some stuff up for Elementals so they're not underdeveloped. I imagine the thing with eyes isn't always that clear-cut, but it is usually present to some degree. I definitely don't want to undo any characterization people have already come up with. I hadn't had much in mind for void elementals, I imagine there scarcity makes it a bit harder to be certain of how their powers manifest. That said, I really like that idea. Void elemental eyes being dark makes a lot of sense, and a ring of color around the edges of their eyes sounds neat. It kind of makes me picture the first black hole picture we have, which I think is fitting. I think elemental magic influences eye quality more than color though, so void elementals would probably have a very deep, piercing gaze. That would allow you to keep Lys' eye color, but the charm thing works fine too and makes sense, whatever you prefer
I figure as far as observation goes, Shifters are probably one of the best at it. Now, since Clari and Zane are distracted, and Redis is kind of separating himself, they might not have noticed at first, but I can't really speak for anyone except my characters.
Also, I hope I'm not overstepping with Gabriel trying to be manipulative. I'm trying to explore his less pleasant side. His intention was to get Avani to agree with the stealing plan (he doesn't really trust people that aren't him to do things correctly), but I see what follows as his interpretation of her agreement rather than reflecting on how much influence he actually had (it's the whole arrogance thing deluding him). Just wanted clarify since I don't want to take away your character's autonomy here, especially since I backtracked with the conversation a bit to make Gabriel more active. I can edit anything to help fit better with how Avani would respond.
@shootforthestars Not much for you here, sorry. I hope Zane's post offsets it a bit. }

Starchaser Amber mossecho All right, all right, all right. This is short because I don't want to step over others in the replies, but I figured I would get something up to keep the ball rolling. BTW, because I forgot to mention it earlier, I'm 5'6" though I think my driver license says 5'5". Was never sure why they took that extra inch from me. XD So yes, if everyone is just barely over 5 foot than I have cemented myself was weather shield of the group. I've never been the tall one of the group because of my 7 foot friend. Guys, what would you do if you had to duck into most doorways?! I was stunned when I first met him; must be how everyone feels about Avani. XD Will post more to reply to other stuff tomorrow. AS you can see, I have yet to fix my poor, poor sleep schedule.)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
In the moments that Zane was silent, Clarisse looked into his deep amber eyes with ardent intrigue. Her hair had long fallen from the bun and now completely framed her face as she waited. The air staled with the smell of uncertainty and discomfort though the female wasn't quite sure why. Her head cocked to the side as if she was looking for more visual cues from him.
Conversations were harder out of Rafe's embrace. Ears and tails and gums expressed so much emotion and intent that when they weren't there, Clarisse felt completely lost at times. It became harder with the other families that weren't used to speaking through gestures and facial expressions. Though it hadn't been much of a problem due to her kind spending a majority of their time with Rafe, Clari wondered how she would manage with the other prophecy members.
She took a step closer to him, eyebrows scrunched in misunderstanding, but voice quiet and laughing, "You, what?"
By the time he finally confessed, she was basically against him, no sense of personal space to be had. I want to come with you. Clarisse didn't speak as he explained though she could feel the soft smile spreading over chocolate covered lips. When he was done, she lightly punched his shoulder and said, "Welcome to the team, Zane."
She settled in beside him at the bar, far too close due to the pounding music. Clarisse looked at him from the corner of her eye and then back to the crowd. Her voice was even as she spoke, "When I was having my dreams, I saw a lot of new faces. Avani's was clear as day to me because I saw... well, never mind on that tangent. The other's were there, but I remembered their names more than their faces. I'm beginning to think I saw you there too. I didn't want to say anything until you made your choice, but I'm sure this is more than just stupidity. At least, I sure hope it is."
She leaned her head back as she took a deep breath through her nose and released loudly. One less thing to worry about. So she turned her attention back to the other problem at hand
Clarisse's nose scrunched in mirth as Avani spoke about her thoughts on stealing the necklace. I'm not exactly built for sneaking around. No, she wasn't. Not even close. Even if you had taken away her height, the angel was bulky and muscular. Her back muscles were envy worthy, but when one flew with massive, heavy wings, she supposed that they had to support themselves somehow.
"No, it probably wouldn't be the best thing." She leaned up against the counter, eyes bright as she listened to Gabe formulate a plan so confidently. Patting her belly slightly as the hunger mounted, Clari hummed along in agreement. "I think I Lux display would be a good idea if I danced with him. Though it's a bit... odd that he's so excited to dance with me again, I can't necessarily blame him. I mean, look at me tonight. Stunning, gorgeous darling."
She laughed through her nose and rolled her eyes as if annoyed by her own comment, "But seriously, I don't think it will be hard for me to get very close if I can stand that smoke smell again. It won't take me long to wrap him around my finger again."
Her eyes narrowed with the wicked glean of a predator enjoying the hunt as she revealed sharp and elongated canines. Even the hunt from earlier had left her with the distant need for more which was odd. Shifter's didn't tend towards craving hunts; it was more of a necessity than it was a pleasure. Especially for those that barely survived in the outer packs. She had never hunted for sport, but Clari understood the draw of such a thing.
Avani's sudden interest in the server's made her lips curl back slightly. She echoed Gabriel's sentiment of being careful even reaching out for the Angel as she lifted her nose. Hints of the charged magic of Anima and the hard smell of flowers and wind assaulted her. What in Rafe's name is he? She ventured a step closer though stayed behind Avani until she was done sizing the male up. A mage? No, the flowers smelled of the tall and unnaturally still Infernal's she met years and years ago. What were they again? Oh Rafe, it doesn't matter.
Clarisse put her hands as she listened to the conversation, growing bored of the interaction. That was, until Gabriel stepped in and started to spice it up by insulting the server. Her wicked smile returned and she like a gossiping grandmother as she looked back and forth. Surely there are people here drunk enough that even you could manage. Clarisse couldn't help but snicker slightly.
But it was what happened next that really got her attention.
"Clarisse, Avani, there's another win for you tonight. It seems your Mage and Infernal are nearby."
She pushed off from the bar immediately to gaze in the direction indicated. Clarisse was moving after Avani quickly. Using her sharp vision, she picked up on the vaguely familiar faces. The Mage and Infernal... She was striding now to intercept them, face intense and forced like a wolf on its prey. They were different than she had expected, but also eerily familiar. By smell alone she could tell that the Infernal was very much a vampire; the scent of blood and books was enough to kill a newborn pup. He dwarfed the mage. Her cheeks were flushed slightly; her dark eyes shone in the strobe lights.
Clarisse smirked. "Thank Rafe's whole harem, I was beginning to think we would never find them."

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars Sorry for the wait. We finally got the whole team together :') (minus Caspian, but he's also my character, or a shared character if anyone else ever wants to have a turn with jerk boy) I have a feeling this post is gonna be so messy and bad, because I wont just accept defeat and go to freaking sleep I actually did, finally, go to sleep but a lot of this was written late (or early?) last night. The rest written after work. A little iffy, but I just wanted to provide a bit more muse... hopefully I did it. I don't like this, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Oh, my pre-prepared condolences.
Ah, I'm already removing Lilah from this interaction, but she'll be back soon. Part of it is because I don't want to figure out how to fit so many of my own characters in the same convo (I wont be able to do so near so artfully as Amber), and part of it is because I wanna see poor Alex deal with having to interact with a bunch of new people solo. Gabriel's also a bit of an attention hog, so away with him. Let prophecy crew deal with problems without his input.
I do also feel it makes sense in context. The Lancasters wanna claim Lilah now that she's a Super Special Chosen One (well, their pure Mage fabricated version of her)... but that's a doozy of a task now that they'd hidden her for so long. The reason it's not explained yet is because I don't know the solution myself, other than it's going to be extremely convoluted. I like the drama of very tangled lies. I'll probably have the truth slowly come to light as prophecy crew gets closer, especially seeing as a lot of Lilah's fake backstory is going to fall apart when her mother comes into the picture.
Also, poor Crispen, half of all his interactions are just people bullying him rip xD I kind of wasn't sure if he came back with the rest of the group immediately or what, so he kind of vanishes... You can feel free to throw him into the mix and I'll account for it later.
Also also, if anyone ever sees me using phrases I use a lot no you didn't. This applies to phrases from your posts too... When I like certain expressions I tend to unconsciously adopt them into my own writing. It's not purposeful, but I know it happens (because I re-read everything and then see myself use something Shoot or whoever said earlier on almost verbatim), so sorry about that.
mossecho nobody messes with Lilah because she has four rather intimidating, tol friends, without realizing it's her they should be afraid of. i also had to bring this fact to attention in-RP
Well, that's still pretty neat. I don't think any of my characters took inspiration from real people, just the Lilah's name came from someone I know. It's not even their name, they just inspired the idea. I totally relate to the too lazy to find good middle names. In reality, all the Lancasters probably have super long names... I just haven't come up with them yet. Lancaster is a bit funny though. Lilah's family mostly takes inspiration from Spanish names, since they are Latino, but their surname is obviously English. The only explanation I have for that conundrum is that it just randomly popped in my head way back when I first made Lilah. My brain said "Lancaster, get it? Because of the 'caster' part? Like casting spells? Because they're wizards?" So clever, I am.
Now, Lilah's name is English too, except it was originally based on the Arabic transcription (the slight idea behind it being that some of the countries that make up present-day Mesopotamia using Arabic as an official language, and some of the oldest references to supernatural magic being from Mesopotamia), but I don't remember why I changed it slightly (nvm it was for clearer pronunciation purposes). It does have an actual translation in current Mage language now too though, which is kinda cool.
I'll probably go back into hardcore research mode to pin down everyone's personalities.
Also, that's fine, I don't mind It was going to come up eventually, part of why I never really addressed it was because I was leaving it open too. Considering Gabriel's entering the mix, it will inevitably have to be addressed. I'm sure Alex's understanding of it wont be too solid yet, since he just doesn't know much about other Families, but it'll probably be revealed more as time goes on and prophecy crew gets to know each other. Honestly, Alex being hypersensitive makes sense, but I also figure Lilah wouldn't have been as in tune with it given her current state.
Also also, I don't really know how to have my characters behave that would be in complete accordance with vampire customs. Gabriel just doesn't strike me as the type to be humble enough to completely adhere to another species' standards. He'd want to make a good impression, but considering he' s already really arrogant and holds on of the highest positions in his entire nation (and part of the most important family), he'd probably feel above it.
Oh, btw, Lacastr is a name derived from actual words in my Mage language. It basically means "emperor," and it's the Old Mage version of the Lancasters surname. Decided to reference Lilah's legend from earlier too. Uhm, basically, one reason the Lancasters are so Important is because they're believed to be Morai's only living mortal descendants (through Caelestra), making all the Lancasters effectively demigods. Which is allegedly why they're so powerful. }

[[ Hey y'all! Just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying reading everyone's stuff. I'm going to have my posts up by Wednesday (for both Lu and Alex). I'm relatively busy tomorrow, but Wednesday is my self-imposed deadline. It might turn into Thursday morning, but I'll still count it if I haven't slept yet. So we'll see, lol ]]

( mossecho, Starchaser, @shootforthestars So I was going to wait until Thursday or Friday to post this, but I'm decidedly impatient (thanks ADD at least it's funny to blame that and not myself) and wanted to do it now. Happy holidays and merry Christmas, everyone. I think it turned out pretty well for the most part as well as one can expect after I stayed up until 2:30 am, not realizing the time working on most of it. I'm not completely loving the way everyone but Avani(mostly because I've drawn her before and she has a set look) turned out, but it's not bad. I'll be tweaking them all before I get their designs down anyway, but if anyone has any pointers or suggestions please tell me. woops, just realized I forgot to finish Caspian's arms. I'm lazy, may or may not go back and fix it Anyway, hope you guys like it. Also, as a bonus, here's some head shots I did of everyone for pratice while at work yesterday. Avani and Lilah turned out really great; Clarisse was hard to draw and I'm still not entierly satisfied with her, but it looks pretty good; Alex and Caspian look a little to similar, but not the same so that's a win itself.

{ Aaaaahh, that's so cool! The squee of pure joy that this elicited from me takes true skill. They're all so cute and wholesome, I love the crew looking like they've become real friends :') Even if you're not completely happy with how it turned out, it was really cool of you to do, and I think it looks great. I think you really captured, I don't know, the "essence" of everyone, if that makes sense.
I'm honestly terribly at physical descriptions for my characters (partially because I don't know how to describe them the way I see them, and partially because I don't know how I imagine them either), so the fact that you were able to make such a clear picture of them is really impressive. I think you pinned them down pretty well, actually. I doubt I'll be much help with design ideas, but I'll definitely share if I think of anything that might be helpful to you.
Anyways, like I said, you did an awesome job, and this was a really nice gift to receive. I love them all so much, thanks for sharing Amber <3 }

Bro, I love that so much! Amber, you did such a good job on everyone and I love seeing your art. It's always so good. I'm sorry Clarisse gave you some trouble with the design, but I'm super happy with how she turned out anyway! that should go somewhere on one of the pages so it can be forever seen. )

( Starchaser Ah thanks, I'm glad to hear you like it! I really wanted to do something with the group and I thought a friendly group picture or something would work for it. As I said, I want to work on their designs more, but this was a good first attempt. That's good to hear! I was trying to capture some of their character through their expressions and poses, so I'm glad that worked out. That's fair, I have diffculty describing characters from how I view them myself. If/When you have any ideas, feel free to shoot me a message or whatever works for you. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that I captured them well enough! Thanks again! I had a lot of fun drawing it out and it makes me happy to hear that you love it. @shootforthestars Ah thanks! I'm glad you like it!! No worries about that, it was fun expierementing with her until I got something I was mostly satisfied with. I'll be doing some tweeking on her look (and everyone else), but it was a good start. Aw that would be fun. Don't we have an art section somewhere on one of the discussion pages?)

[[ i'm not going to say much, but... yeah. honestly i lost track of who was where with who so... not every character is mentioned, but... eh. it's late, i'm tired ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Infernal ☾ ⤜ ✩ Alex shook Lysandra's hand once before letting go.
Still coming down from those precious moments of, ahem, hyperawareness, Alex did not want to maintain any contact. He had done enough in the ways of embarrassment already (goodness hope he was not too harshly observed, but all Alex could feel were lingering glances). What Alex would give to not constantly monitor everything around him. Smells of alcohol, sweat, adrenaline, dopamine. Hammering hearts, whooshing breaths. Still, Alex needed to catalogue all of them. Match each individual to their noise, their scent, their taste. Keep track of who moved away, who moved too close. It was exhausting. But you must. Keep yourself safe, Alexander. You may know no one, you may be alone, but that does not mean you are not surrounded.
He allowed himself a polite smile to Lysandra. Brief, just a slight movement in the mouth, no other changes in his expression. Alex would not go so far as to say he was comfortable around Lysandra in any capacity ("trust is slow, it takes time to grow"), but he was alright around her. That was more than he could say for most anyone else. She was certainly reasonable, especially in comparison to her half-witted associate.
Maintaining his caged smile, Alex retracted his hand. "It is my pleasure to meet you, Lysandra Floros," he tipped his head forward in quiet acknowledgement. Alex's smile vanished. The vowels felt foreign in his mouth, the slurred sounds difficult. It was nothing to do with her name in particular, for the entire language was foreign. That was no surprise. Yet it just hit Alex exactly how thick his accent was. It was not far from molasses: thick, sticky, and stubborn. Not slow, but painfully amateur. Distinctly foreign. Alex could never escape his explicit otherness, especially not in the Sanctum, but the inability to speak properly would certainly not help him in anyway. It marked only weakness. If he could not speak properly, then how could Alex hope to establish himself well in this foreign city? He may have never been a phenomenal silver tongue back home, but Alex was still plenty capable of discourse and discussion. There was no hope for such nuance here, not if his tongue tripped even over names.
Luckily, Lysandra did not seem privy to this painful panic of his. Alex's face remained stoic, and she moved on to someone else. Alex took the moment to check back on Lilah. Her hands were tight around the humble tea cup. Steam still curled from its surface, but the head was dying now. As for Lilah herself, Alex was still, ehm, unsure. He did not want to question his traveling companion too overtly, lest she discover his doubts, but something was wrong. It had to be. Lancaster, Lancaster, Lancaster...
Alex looked back towards Lysandra. The Elemental (she had to be Elemental, did not smell of any other species) was now conversing with her atrocious friend, the thief. The vampire averted his gaze, focusing again on Lilah's tea. He wanted so badly to disappear. How lucky Mages were, that they could teleport. The closest option Alex had to that blessing was, well, running. He could flee. He could be a coward, turn and run, never look back.
"Sir? Would you like a drink?"
Expectant eyes greeted Alex. The server, small, one-legged, and shrouded in telltale white, looked back at him, her gaze expectant and sweet. Too sweet. Alex held up his hand, looking at the server absently. "No thank you, although I appreciate the offer."
Alex decided to follow the thief. At this point, he was too tired to care about unseen politeness. He would still maintain basic decency (he was not an animal), but there was no point at trying not to hear anything now. Everyone spoke so loudly. The vampire did not mean to listen, but he could not stop his ears. You are so contradictory today, Alexander. Tsk tsk. The vampire, secretly ashamed but too wary to care, committed to tracking Crispen. Nothing serious, of course. He was not going to draw any more attention to himself by stepping away from the bar. Besides, Lilah might notice. Alex did not want her attention. She knew him more than anyone else. While they ultimately were not too familiar, her greater exposure to him meant that she was the human best at interpreting his actions. Do not give her a chance. She will likely prove good enough to notice your focus on Crispen. Give her no chances to see your doubts in her. You got her to the bar, stay with her. Do not arise suspicion without reason.
The vampire listened. He kept his eye wandering, looking around the room as if entirely unfocused. Occasionally Alex would look back to Lilah, checking her over, before resuming his visual scans of the room. Still, he listened to Crispen. The thief led Alex's attention to a particularly tall angel (are they all that tall, that cheery?), a werewolf (ugh, the stench), and a brown-haired mage. Alex could smell the magic pouring off of him. It was not as potent as that surrounding Lilah, but it was stronger than many of the other mages in the room.
In other words: more dangerous. A greater threat. Alex looked back to Lilah. Remember your exit points, the number of people between you and them. Remember the route from here to the lake. Boats, boats... why did you not check the harbor? Alex tugged on his left cuff and then his right. He needed to refocus himself. There was no use in reassessing an exit strategy if Alex did not know everything he could about those he would need to escape. For goodness sake, Alexander. Do not act in fear. Act with control, with power. Hold your station.
Unencouraged by that pathetic attempt to regain control over his fear, Alex resumed his unbelievably impolite and intrusive eavesdropping. Well, at the very least, this mage seemed more informed than the others. He was certainly more interesting. His language and general rudeness was not ideal. Alex was pleased to hear that someone else disapproved of Crispen's chaotic behavior, although the mage was less than tactful in addressing it. One should never be rude when pointing out rudeness. Beyond that, a lack of tact was always troubling. Back home, such blatancy would ruin someone (and rightfully so, it is unseemly).
Well, it was a decently defined group. Alex did not look at them directly, eyes only briefly flitting over them as if other parts of the crowd were more interesting. Humans were largely visual creatures. Vampires relied far more on smell and hearing. Luckily for Alex, neither his nose or ears displayed his focus. Take whatever advantage you have. At least this way, Alex could remember key features of each group member. The cadence of their voice, the rhythm of their breaths, the depths and overtones of their scent. If he had to run, he would need this information. He would need to know if he was being followed.
Again, you have a coward's mindset. Do not act out of fear. Act with power. Alex raised his chin, more a move of self assurance than anything else. As if right on cue, the werewolf began stalking over. She strode with brutish confidence. Alex disapproved of such blatant flaunting of one's wildness, but it was supposed to be the werewolves' trademark. How vampires shared any origin with those chaotic Shifters, Alex could not fathom.
The rest of the group approached too, and now-familiar electricity raced through Alex. The vampire did not move a muscle, save his eyes'. While before it was a disadvantage to clearly focus on the group, now it was the better play. Acknowledgement implied understanding, awareness. You must appear the stronger. Put yourself in a good position early on, it will help you later. First impressions are key. Alex resisted his urge to look towards Lilah. She had seemed so trustworthy. She was why Alex ended up here, and it was all down to that first impression.
Thankfully, the mage arrived before his werewolf friend. Alex stood up before the mage was too close, not wanting to appear to be standing up for the stranger. That would be embarrassing. Besides, Alex was the taller of the two. His superior height would give the illusion of, well, superiority.
The mage introduced himself first, hand outstretched. He smiled just a bit, although it did not reach his eyes. Alex maintained eye contact with the mage as he grasped the human's hand.
The human's introduction was not entirely unlike a declaration. Although, to be fair, vampiric customs were not entirely in disagreement with this either. "Gabriel, Lancaster of the House Lancaster, last descendants of Morai's blessed, the royal Lacstr bloodline."
How interesting. Alex's smile widened just a bit (although going from "minuscule" to "tiny" was not much) as he shook Gabriel's hand. Two shakes, then release. Alex tucked his hand into a pocket as he introduced himself, the greeting smooth but still tainted with his molasses accent. "Alexander Rojas Lopez of the Antier Coven, by the Sinresol River in the Derramar Valley. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance, Gabriel Lancaster."
Alex's defiance of Gabriel's request to only use his given name was clear. To what degree the mage would interpret it as an offense, Alex could not say. It was a risk, yes. Perhaps a foolish one. But we are certainly not on first name terms, and it is offensive to say so. Alex let go of Gabriel's hand. It was a tactful advisement of proper manners, he insisted.
The tactless mage did not seem to notice. Perhaps he did not care. He was far too brazen and, if Alex may go so far, reckless. As Gabriel continued speaking, Alex found himself forcing his face into neutrality. If their last names were any indication, Gabriel was Lilah's brother. Their magic smelled somewhat alike, although Alex supposed that it could just be that magic generally smelled similar. Although beyond that, Lilah and Gabriel were far too young to be married, weren't they? (Alex could only guess their ages based on appearance. Lilah had to be around Alex's age, Gabriel appeared a bit older, but both seemed young. But yet again, humans died so quickly. When did they stop being young?) Besides that, Alex did not entirely understand Gabriel's title, but it still merited some importance. Possibly more. If anything, two phrases stuck out to the vampire: "last descendants" and "royal bloodline." If that did not indicate high rank, what else did? And if Gabriel's title was as important as the mage seemed to imply, then what did that say about Lilah?
Liar.
She's a liar.
As her maybe-brother tugged Lilah away, Alex pondered his options. He had to keep this doubt hidden. Perhaps one could view that as a lie of itself, but at this rate, was it all that wrong to lie? Lilah knew this city; Alex did not. He had no safety net, no security. If it was in his best interest, then he would have to do it. He had been kind, but kindness was stronger than niceness. Niceness rolled over, allowed itself to be manipulated. Alex could not permit that to happen to him.
Lilah was so obviously uncomfortable. It did not take a genius to see that. Her uncertain eyes, her rushing heart. It was clear as day. As Alex's gaze met Lilah's uncertain and scared, the vampire wanted to reach out. "Let her stay." Those words danced on his lips, but Alex did not let them enter the air. He could not be insistent. If he showed too much care for Lilah, if he allowed himself to care too much for her, then she became a weakness. That could not be good for either one of them.
Yet horribly, so terribly, Alex knew that was not the real reason he was letting her go. It was not because it was her choice, it was not because Alex feared Gabriel (he did not, at least, no more than he did anyone else), it was not because he feared displaying weakness or neediness or anything else so frustratingly human. It was not unlike... a punishment.
Guilt flared in Alex's stomach. It burned, flames licking at his organs, setting even his bones alight. His mouth turned sour, his ears only heard a roar. Guilt. How brutally powerful. The vampire bit his tongue, sour blood flooding his mouth. He sucked the bitter redness back, the disgusting taste barely noticeable among the guilt at Alex's self realization.
Lilah had lied. Alex was not sure of everything quite yet, but she had. Somehow. Surely. And now here he was, a brutish fool, watching her walk away. There were valid reasons to let that happen, but they were not his main reason. As horrible as it was to admit, they were not.
Alex looked back to the group. Electricity ran through his spine. As it rocketed through him, the fire slowly coming to an end. By the time the lightning passed, so too did the flames.
The vampire smiled politely at the group, unsure of what else could be a decent response. Luckily he could look down at most of them (with the exception of the towering angel). Again, the illusion of power, superiority. Good impressions, Alexander, good impressions.
The vampire beamed. "Greetings, I am Alexander Rojas Lopez of the Antier Coven, by the Sinresol River in the Derramar Valley. I am afraid I have not had the pleasure of meeting any of you."
Alex allowed a beat in the conversation. He kept his hands in his pockets, unsure of what else to do. There was no easy way to converse with such a large group of individuals, especially not when they had the distinct advantage of being prior acquaintances. Yes, Alex may have known more about them than they would expect him to, but he was still at a disadvantage. There was no smooth way around that.
He pursed his lips just slightly and nodded. "Ehm, may I inquire as to why you who exactly you are and why you here?"
Admittedly, Alex was curious. What would they say? What would they not say? This was a dangerous moment for him, yes, but it could become very interesting indeed.
Lucrecia Zembrowska "I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams." - The Doctor (written by Matthew Graham)
✧ ↝ ○ Shifter, Eurasian Wren ○ ↜ ✧
"Sir? Would you like a drink?" Lucrecia inquired.
Honestly, Lu had no idea if vampires drank. Well, they drank, duh, but did they drink anything other than blood? That was something Lu didn't know at all. Honestly, she didn't know much about vampires in general. She had not learned much about them in school. Granted, Lu had never gotten much school (wasn't a big thing back in her tiny village, history was passed down through stories and basic life skills were learned through, well, life), only lessons in Sanctum during the long summers.
Yet again, she had never seen a vampire before! They almost never appeared in Sanctum. There were the government vampires and that was about it. They certainly never bothered to shlep over to her part of the city. Still, how exciting it was to meet one! How exciting it was to talk to one! She had to tell her uncle about it.
Oh, her uncle. Lu smiled to herself. She was so happy to be here. Finally, finally, she was back in the city. Now, Lu loved her little village, don't get her wrong, but Sanctum! It was truly special, truly, truly, truly. Honestly, how could anyone not love it here? It was perfect, truly–
"Oi, oi! I'd like some service sometime!"
"Yes sir, be right there, sir," Lu chimed. She was not supposed to speak directly to the guests first anyways, so she should not have been talking with the vampire. But oh well, it probably wouldn't be a big deal.
The shifter got to working on his order right away. Alcoholic iced tea. Won't the ice water down the alcohol? Lu was also not supposed to question the guests, but who was going to know? No one was a mindreader. All she had to do was smile, nod, and make a lot of tea.
Still, that did not stop Lu from seeing what was going on around her. The couple making out at the bar, the inpatient guest (who didn't look at her when she placed his stupid alcoholic iced tea in front of him) (which was fine with her, Lu did not want to ever acknowledge how offensive that man's taste was to the art of tea), the other server launching himself over the bar.
Hmph. That server complimented the mage over in the corner for her "good thinking." That had been Lu's brilliance, thank you. Still, the server was interesting at least. Lu kept an eye on him between orders, watching him talk with the green-eyed bartender from earlier. It was hard to keep track of him very well. Lots of guests at a party meant lots of tea to be served. But still, Lu was good at keeping track of people. Not as good as her werewolf cousins (not literal cousins, mind you, but Lu had always felt a sort of kinship with other Shifters), but all those summers in the tea shop had helped quite a bit.
Eventually, Lu saw a group going over to the end of the bar. To be more specific, the end of the bar with the vampire, the mage, and her fantastic, impromptu, definitely-her-idea-thank-you tea. And among them was a familiar, towering angel.
Lu beamed. Avani! The server nearly jumped into the air, her arms just about to reach out, primed to cry out to catch the angels attention and then—no. She could not do that. She could be fired for that. You're not supposed to speak to the guests without prompting. You're really not supposed to jump up and down, screaming at them.
She had to find another solution. Lu got on the ground and crawled beneath the bar, dragging her tea set with her. It wasn't a very elegant solution, but it would work. Besides, she was from the forest, she had been around worse. A few other bartenders noticed and looked at her oddly, but no one bothered to mention it. Thank you!
Lu got to the end of the bar and popped up, like some bizarre Jack-in-the-Box. She had seen one of those before, it was a creepy. Hopefully she was not being creepy doing this.
Lu stopped worrying about any unintended creepiness or surprise or whatever when she saw a familiar face. Finally, finally she had found Avani! The shifter came up to the bar, behind the now-standing vampire, and beamed at the angel.
Avani! Avani! Look here, look here, it's me, Lu! The server waived, wishing so badly she could just yell out for the angel. Avani!
[[ idk when i'll get alex drunk, but when the time comes it will happen.
also, someday, lu will get the long post that she's deserves, just rn i am tired and uninspired, my apologies
also also, sorry about how bad the writing got, i am just too tired. miiight edit this in the future, but let's face it, that will never happen

{ mossecho You absolute mad lad, what are you still doing up? Obviously I'm not going to respond right now (it's not my turn anyways), but oh, wow. I am actually blown away. That was Shakesperean. The drama. The emotions. The internal turmoil. Gabriel getting rightly called out for his blatant rudeness, even internally (also, given what I've decided about mage/vampire relations, he 100% was polite but committed enough infractions to be bothersome on purpose). The fracture in an already new, tentative, unlikely friendship (unlikely more so because of they ordinarily never would have met rather than them not having chemistry). The fact that Lilah is going to be so confused by why Alex starts acting differently. I am shooketh.
EDIT: The fact that he reverted back to calling her a human, I am screaming this is so sad but the angst is so so sweet
And we always love Lu <3 }

{ mossecho @shootforthestars Amber A whole year since we met and started roleplaying together on the original RP, yep! I can't believe how long this has been going on. It's a hassle to a keep an RP going for a few weeks, so I really appreciate that you've all stuck around, especially given how long it's taken us to get to this point, but I digress.
Anyways, not to be super mushy, but I'm really glad I met all of you! I came back to the forums (a little over a year ago now) cause I was feeling nostalgic and lonely in real life, and the old RP was one of the first I joined, which turned out to be a lot more important than I figured. I honestly think this is one of the best things that happened to me this year, if not the absolute best. I'm sure 2020 hasn't been great for anyone, but for me this RP has made it a lot more bearable. It's a simple thing really, but just having people to chat with and indulge in worldbuilding with has been really nice. I genuinely didn't expect much to come of venturing back on here, but I'm super happy I did. I consider you all friends and I'm really thankful we get to talk/roleplay/hang out <3 }

Aw, I'm so touched! I have had so much fun with this RP so far and even my friends IRL have heard about the depth world building and thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree that this RP is one of those things that have made 2020 somewhat worth it in the long run. While I was in quarantine, it was super nice to be able to RP with people who were so happy to world build and indulge in the simple things. Thanks for a year! Here's to another one. )

Starchaser Obligatory non threatening statement without a lonely period. This one is short to keep the pace, but I appreciate the bit of character description. XD It really helps so I'm not describing them in the blandest way possible.
OK, I think I'm the fruit loop dingus bustafooligan becasue I literally never connected colors to the different aspects of Anima? Like how did I miss that? It's right there and now my color schemes are all kinds of jacked up. I'm so sorry!! XD I even made Al with blue eyes cause it matched her magic of blue lightning. I'm soooo dumb y'all. XD So yeah.... Al's stuff is blue because Shoot never realized that there were specific colors for different parts of Anima. I tried to fix that with Asibelle, but hey, I guess I'll roll with it for Al.
Collapsed lungs are NOT fun; I had a friend who almost died from one if I'm remembering the event correctly. She's fine now but yeah, it can be deadly so I hope poor Har-Har is gonna be ok. XD He sounds like an absolute doll of a boy and I'm falling in love with him. He's a literal cat! )
Altalune "Al" Abernathy “And When I breathed, my breath was lightning." - Black Elk
♤ ⤐ ϟ The Bat Wielding Manic ϟ ⬷ ♤
The room was closing around Altalune as her family carried her through the wide doors into their makeshift home. It was nothing more than a large, makeshift warehouse that the gang had converted into a cosy home, but for those that had grown up on the streets, it was more than they had ever had. She winced as her feet bumped against the lip of the entryway, noting distantly that the top's of her boot's were going to rubbed raw. Hayden had resorted to dragging her body as the adrenaline ebbed out her small form.
She was placed beside the injured which in her state were too many to count. A moment later, Harley's bloodied form was sitting next to her and Al's vision narrowed to a pinpoint. She barely noticed when Madds came to check on her and then his brother, too focused on the back wall and simply staying conscious.
To her right, Zak cried out and the mild mannered Asibelle squeaked out an apology, "I'm sorry, but I'm almost done. Just give me one more moment -" Zak yelled out a curse. "I'm done! I'm done. Go join the treated, ok? Slowly, Zak! Please..."
The man grumbled but did as the healer mage said and wobbled over to the group that had been treated. She approached Al next, brows furrowed with worry and big brown eyes going wide at the blood soaked shirt. She kneeled next to Al and got busy with taking off her makeshift bandages. Al grunted as the pain returned full force. Even though her runes had been sloppily applies to her ripped shirt, they had done more for her than she had first thought. The woman leaned her head back and whimpered through the pain.
Asibelle swore lightly as she peeled off her jacket and saw the swelling, "Oh Al... what did you do?"
For some reason, AL found that supremely funny and chuckled for a good minute before saying in a gravely voice, "What didn't I do? At this point, I don't know why it's jacked. I think I fell on it?"
"Falling doesn't do damage like this. You must have been hit by a spell on the way down too. I don't know if I can fix this immediately. We might have to take you to a hospital-"
"No!" Al's vision returned as panic set in. "No, the authorities will track this to the explosion and then the whole gang will be in danger. I can't do that to them. Do your best. Don't take me to the hospital."
The woman looked concern enough to insist when the conversation of the two brother's beside them became louder and more serious. They both looked to their left.
Even though she had been there and seen the damage, seeing the light drain from's Harley's eyes before he closed them hit her harder than it should have. For a moment, Al forgot her pain and swiveled to see Harley's slumped form. If I die and you lot get all sappy about it, I swear I'll haunt your dreams for the rest of your days.
A viscous snarl rose from her throat as she reached her good arm up to grip the back of his hair. She pulled down on his black hair harder than she intended and got within half an inch from his face, "Wake the **** up! We didn't go back for your worthless arse just for you to die here! Wake up!"
"Al!" Asibelle yanked her back with a stunned and horrifed gasp. "Stop it! He's not dead! He's just unconscious! You're going to hurt him!
"With his injuries, if he falls asleep right now, he may not wake back up! Wake up, you fruit loop dingus! You don't get to be the cool one here, Harley! If anyone is dying, it's me!" There were no tears this time, only harsh commands. She hadn't come this far with them only to have Harley die right nest to her in their home.
Asibelle started to cry and hyperventilate at the scene, "Al, please. You're injuries - his injuries! Stop it... I have to f-fix your shoulder..."
But another snarl from Al directed towards Maddox and Hyden made her hiccup, "You both know he can't sleep now! Wake up, Harley!"
