I know it's late, but happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope that everyone was able to spend time with their families either virtually or in person. Even though 2020 has sucked, giving thanks is always important! I hope that all that confusion gets better Amber! Take your time! )

I agree with everything you said. I think it also has something to do with the fact that many of us don't experience that type of angst that we so often enjoy and we wouldn't want to. Yet, there is something fascinating about experiencing that sort of heartache and trauma through the eyes of our characters. Don't know either. XD
Lilah having a gang tattoo would be the best. I can see the scene now where some of the prophecy members are like, what's that one mean? And Lilah has to tell them that it came from her time in a gang. XD Cue the surprised pikachu meme from almost everyone. I think that her family coming and finding her would probably be a good reason for her to leave.
I also don't think it would be completely unrealistic for the gang themselves to sit her down once they find out her background. I don't think they would kick her out due to her being helpful in many ways like you said. It would also be uncharacteristic for a gang that preaches familial ties to cut someone out just because they can't completely stomach the violence. However, I could foresee them helping her come to terms with some of her issues. Someone might talk to her and be like, "Hey, you're totally welcome to stay. Your influence has been great for getting us what we need, but are you sure this is what you want? You have a place here, if you want it, just think about it. What is it that you want out of your life?"
Because even though she wants to belong and the gang can give her that, she also doesn't want to live the life that the gang lives. For some, like Al and the twins, the gang is probably the best thing to ever happen to them. Even though the murder and steal and lie, the gang is their home. We know, though the characters don't at this point, that Lilah's home exists in the form a ragtag team trying to save the world from sure destruction. That's her belonging. I think the gang would help her realize that it's ok to outgrow people and circumstances, to learn from what you have and be able to move on.
Even if Lilah still has a strong sense of abandonment afterwards. XD Also, I love the idea of the gang keeping the cat around for no other reason then that Lilah loved it so we should love it right? I mean it's a part of the family now. Whiskers being their mascot or something kills me. XD
Also Also, I could see it happening. I mean Al's mom was a courtesan and the twins never knew their father; they could literally be anyone's blood relative. Most of the gang probably has ties with random people.

{ @shootforthestars Happy late Thanksgiving to you as well <3 I'm still kind of burnt out creatively, for whatever reason, but I want to RP, so I'd really like to get my response up tonight (or really early tomorrow, depending on how long it takes to finish). Sorry for the wait, Shoot.
I think that sums it up pretty well, however, I will still choose not to think about the implications of how into angst I am. I'm aware that I wouldn't want to deal with al that, but... it's just so good to write it. Whatever. We're all chill with it, so *shrug*
Lilah probably has quite a few tatts since they're used for a lot of things in mage culture (she took Lah̀ˈt͡tiu, so that alone gives her 12), so I could definitely picture a scene where the prophecy crew is hanging out and talking about different traditions (I find this interesting because, as we've discussed, Shifters would probably be very against piercings and tattoos, so for that to be used to honor and show connections with gods would be weird to them) and Lilah is explaining all of them, and they all have some normal mage reason for existing... until she gets to that one, and she's just awkwardly like "oh, yeah, that's from when I joined a gang haha" and everyone else is like "you WHAT?". Storytime ensues.
Yeah, I definitely agree with you. Given the gang's essential "dogma" being built around chosen family and belonging, they would probably be pretty open to anyone who needed it. For Lilah, I think it would actually be her not wanting to abandon them, rather than feeling like they're doing it to her (she knows what that's like and doesn't want to do it to anyone else). I like that idea and think it makes sense, and given how I've modified Lilah's backstory a little, I think her time there would actually help her realize a.) not everyone will see her as a burden/use her, and b.) she does have worth, which might make her current personality a little more reasonable. I feel like she wasn't nearly as jaded and closed-of as she should be, but I suppose everyone copes differently. The gang is so soft (i say, as they murder core-maker employees), I love them ;-; Therapy with ˈR͡wioz͡ʻ r̀e, sign me up please but can you picture the gang realizing their true purpose is helping kids like themselves find love and safety and learn their purpose in life i'm crying they stop the cycle, Shoot
If we went that route and had her family find her later, it could simply be she left once she learned how to stand on her own (both without her blood family and the gang), and they amicably parted ways. She'd have probably been reluctant, but with the gang's blessing and them helping her realize she really isn't happy where she is, I could see it working out like that.
Whiskers the Gang Kitty xD I never knew how much I needed a mage gang in my life. Yes, they absolutely should. A tiny headcanon I have is that mage pets are slightly magical themselves from constant, prolonged exposure to Anima. It manifests in very tiny ways, but they're a bit odder than normal animals. I also love the idea that this super tough gang has a cat they're all super cuddly with and they just spoil it and it has it's own little leather jacket with the gang's symbol and it's just all around very sweet.
Lilah actually has a full-mage aunt (her mum's half-sister) that could have had kids that were unfortunately orphaned, since she died young. I love random relations, and I'm sure the gang is full of them, not that anything has to come of it. I just think gang members occasionally coming across their unknown relatives is fun. Maybe I have a slight obsession with making family trees. Or is it categorizing in general? Your guess is as good as mine.
Okay, it is officially Star-shuts-up-and-finishes-an-actual-RP-post o'clock. Hope to have it up soon (which for me is 1-5 business hours) : )

Yes, I was always of the persuasion that Shifters would be very anti tattoos or piercings so Lilah having plenty would defiantly be weird for Clari to see. When V was apart of the gang, I was gonna have her call him “pushpin” cause of his many piercings, but alas. It wasn’t to be. XD A talk about different traditions ending in a story time of how Lilah got involved with a gang is what I need in my life. A gang full of raging psychopaths and murderers that just happen to be soft therapists for lost kids is so perfect. Why are we like this? They are literally killing people as we speak and I can’t see them in any other light but soft boys and girls. Softies who just want to help victimized kids not go down the same path as themselves. AHHHHI like that headcannon. I mean it makes sense given that magic corrupts within the Infernals as well. Since Anima is so potent, a bleeding affect by those who wield it to their pets is actually incredibly logical. A cat with a leather jacket is the purest thing and I’m crying now. T-T Sorry that this doesn’t have much substance. I’m on a study break for a Biochem final. XD Anyways, I got to get back to the grind. )

{ @shootforthestars Obligatory non-ominous comment : ) Again, sorry for the wait. As per usual, I'm not terribly pleased with how this turned out, but I am at the point where good enough is good enough. I am still uninspired, but fighting the good fight. Don't ask what Harley is talking about ever, I don't even know, I was just hitting him with a stick to make him produce thoughts to fill this post with.
I think part of my problem is that even in action scenes I over-describe, so tryna get away from that, starting next post because I'm lazy. Also, I know I let too much happen in one post, I think I was afraid my original ending wouldn't have had enough to make a response to, but I will be working to correct this issue in the future. So, part of why this took so long is because I had a lot more written that I cut out because this post is already ridiculously long (that and I was researching names, but I finally gave up and used a generator so I wouldn't get to dwell on it), ergo I think I still made this too open-ended. If that's case, let me know and I can condense down the other stuff I have so you actually have something to respond to.
Pushpin! XD I love that so much. I dig nicknames in general, but that one really gets me. I love the idea of all the prophecy crew adopting silly nicknames for each other ("fluffers" or something for one of the werewolves, pls). I also imagined the scene where they talk about all that stuff happening at night around a campfire or something. idk why
Now I'm thinking about someone getting "interrogated" pretty brutally by some of the members, and they still just can't take anything seriously because they keep looking at this clearly spoiled, smug cat sitting on a massive throne of pillows, with always-full bowls, and a lovingly-hand-stitched quilt that says "Whiskers <3" in some cutesy font. And whenever someone comes by to "check on" the prisoner, they just stop to coo at their cat for a minute and then immediately switch back into "we have ways of making you talk" mode when finished.
BioChem You have my condolences. This is NOT a pro-chemistry RP. The rest of science can stay, but that thing... it scares me.
I tried to leave it open towards the end. Whether we want the gang to be victorious or end up losing out on the cores, completely up in the air still. I just really wanted an explosion, but I tried to write it so we could have some more fighting as well, because I'm still craving it even if it doesn't seem that way. Btw, I'm calling this side plot "The Outsiders, But Make It Magic" because I think I'm very clever and funny. In fact, I watched scenes from the Outsiders to prepare for this specific scene. I had to read the book in 8th grade, and we watched the movie. It is different than I remember, but still an experience. }

Hey everyone! Brief update time: I probably won’t be able to get on until at least Monday or Wednesday at the latest to write a reply. Finals started today (Biochem is over so praise the Lord), but I have two more. One closes on Friday and the other closes on Wednesday so it’s up to me when I take them. Anyways, I’m looking forward to finals being over so that I can sit and think about our babies a little more. Hope everyone has been rocking finals so far!! Love y’all!)

Ok, I have to type this out before I forget.
I had a dream about the RP last night and it was the weirdest thing.
So, apparently in the dream, the world has gone to pot and many of the gangs have taken to resource guarding. From what I gathered from my dream, crops all over the world have died and or gone missing. But our gang for some reason had bags and bags of baby carrots and corn and everything else. Plus seed packets that they were selling for an extremely high price. So Al and Maddox are walking through the woods, loaded to the teeth with seeds and baby carrots to sell at a near by town, when Devlands gang ambushes them. The exchange went a little like this:
Al: What the **** you doing here? Didn’t we settle this last time?
Devland: Oh we did. Yet, I need baby carrots and since y’all have baby carrots then I guess we’re gonna have to tussle.
Maddox: *has plastics baggies of baby carrots and who knows what saran wrapped all over his body* Well you can’t have them. They’re for the CHILDREN.
(I don’t know what he was talking about because it was very clearly discussed that they were going to sell baby carrots and corn at exorbitant prices)
Devland: I just need one!
A battle ensues in which Al and Maddox get pretty wasted, but Al sees Devland taking a baby carrot and a pen. She rushes over there as he slides out this hidden compartment and puts a piece of the baby carrot in it. Al manages to grapple the pen away from him and makes a run for it. Not sure what happened to Mads but I’m pretty sure he was ok. She runs all the way back to our gang and before she collapses, she screams, “The baby carrots!”
And that was the end. Pretty weird. I don’t dream about RP’s ever so this was a first y’all.)

{ @shootforthestars I love how this RP is on our minds so much it's relevant even subconsciously xD Also, that's honestly amazing, Shoot, and something that I feel like would happen. Everyone in the gang selling crops and seeds at ridiculously high prices while Maddox inconspicuously passes some of their stock out to hungry children came to my mind almost instantly (since I described Madds as trying to be Robin-Hood-esque anyways). For some reason when you said Devland had a hidden compartment, I immediately thought of him as an AI like WALL-E xD
I also had a dream about this RP, but it was in Heavenly territory when Cloudhelm was falling. Y'all, have you ever fallen thousands of feet? That is terrifying, but it happened way too slowly in my dream. I don't remember a lot of details, but shout out to Wolf!Clarisse for saving my butt.

Starchaser I love that even though I have known Madds for 0.45 seconds in this RP that my dream reflected him accurately. XD Al was sooo angry and petty in my dream and he was just like, "It's for the children bruh." OHHH that would be so interesting! Having the floating cities (or just Cloudhelm) fall due to the instability of magic and the magic waves would be horrifying and incredibility fun as well. As I was reading your in depth analysis, I kept thinking about that scene from Age of Ultron where the city falls. After going back and watching the scene, they broke it apart to minimize the impact damage which could work. It would still have devastating consequences, but it not near as much as the whole city falling. Also, I'm sure Lux could be used to slow the fall as well and even Wind and Void elementals might be able to help keep the damage down. Defiantly something that would be fun to explore. I'm working on a reply now! I am finally free from school until mid January so I will bust my hump to finish this reply tonight. )

{ @shootforthestars I just really love our gang. Your dream was 10/10 solid Madds characterization, definitely xD
I have been very much looking forward to the idea. I like destroying giant cities I had two main ideas for how it could happen: a breach in the magic shield near the city causing Lux to temporarily malfunction, or the cult purposely infiltrating and sabotaging the tranches that hold the city up. I was leaning towards the first option because the destruction of Sanctum is already a result of a coordinated attack, but have the potential to be interesting. The first option could have the added potential of Heavenlys losing their ability to fly and such temporarily, meaning it would be a lot harder to evacuate the city and save everyone. Or we could say just their technology was affected, maybe by waves of magic or whatever like you were saying. As devastating as it is, I like the idea of this being one of those events in which prophecy crew realizes they have to forego heroism at certain points to ensure the entire world will survive, though I'm sure the Sanctum attack will have brought that into light a bit already.
Oh, those are really interesting ideas that I hadn't thought much on before. I think a lot of Heavenlys working together could help slow the city's fall, but I don't know if they'd have enough time to get help from the other species. I'm sure the other Families would come in to help with damage control and cleanup as soon as they realized what happened though. As far as I can tell, the city would hit the ground in a bit under a minute. Granted, a lot of all that figuring was done in a caffeine-induced, sleep-deprived state. Still, even bumping the city's height up to around 25,000 ft, it wouldn't take that long to fall. However, you mentioning the city being broken apart in Avengers makes me consider the possibility of them having safeguards like that in place to keep damages and injuries to a minimum. After all, tranches have to be charged and probably worked on a points in time, so they probably have alternate ways of keeping the city afloat during those times. I think it's more fun with the destruction though, but we could definitely use methods of minimizing the damage at least.
Also, Caspian has been unveiled, if you're interested. I am disappointed in the description and how long it took, but I'm happy to have something up finally. I'm also working on all of my other character's forms and a revamped Lilah description. I'm on a bit of a kick tonight.
Congrats on being free from school btw! Hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable break }

Starchaser The first idea is actually really nice. I like the idea of the Lux literally malfunctioning and causing mass panic from all that rely on it. Honestly, if I suddenly couldn't fly, I think I would probably break down.
Don't worry about the action scenes. I can't write them to save my life so I hope that you aren't cringing the whole time. XD Plus, I like reading the long replies. Anyways, it's almost 3 AM and I'm tired so Imma go to bed now. XD Forgive any horrible typos in the reply below.)
Altalune "Al" Abernathy “And When I breathed, my breath was lightning." - Black Elk
♤ ⤐ ϟ The Bat Wielding Manic ϟ ⬷ ♤
Bat now on her uninjured shoulder, Altalune turned her head to see Harley grinning. The sight gave rise to her own though the blood and guts on her face from the latest sacrifice made her grin much more sadistic, "Well, you know me. I always did like a good quickie."
From behind her tinted sunglasses, baby blue's narrowed with unseen pleasure. You would have fit right in with us, Altalune Abernathy. As the blood dripped down her bat and onto the ground behind her, she knew he was right. There was no doubt in her mind that if she had stumbled upon Devland's gang first that she would have thrived in that environment. Years of killing had only made her slight inclination towards sadism stronger, but if she had been in a group of sadists to begin with... Anaeida, she would have been worse than Devland. Well, maybe not that bad, but Altalune would have been something straight from Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s.
Al, though slightly offput by her thoughts, didn't let herself be hindered by them. The wrapping held around her shoulder and she bulldozed through the rival gang, providing aid and support to Harley as they made their way to the back. It was harder to balance her swings with only one good arm; she was out of breath by the time Maddox was there again. She raised her eyebrow at the damage to his face, but she didn't get a chance to make a jab at his expense before he was asking about Emari.
"She -"
Al cried out in pain when she was dragged down. Burn it all to Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s, Harley! She ground her teeth in pain to keep from lashing out at him. After all, he had just saved her miserable hide from being vaporized by a blast of pure Anima. Still, her shoulder throbbed even with the bandage still bound tight. Her crudely drawn sigils were never going to last long.
"Get yourself killed and I'll go to Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s, find your arse, and personally see to your torment. Go get em' champ." Coughing interrupted her and she held her hand to her mouth only to pull it away to see blood. The ˈR͡wioz͡ʻr̀e groaned. It wasn't uncommon for her to cough up blood during battle, but this early on was simply excessive. She wiped her hand on what was left of her black tank top and stood on slightly shaky legs.
She took a look at Maddox and when they made eye contact, she jerked her head in the direction of the vault, "Come on. let's see if Emari is done."
Despite the ringing in her ears and ache of her shoulder, the familiar surge of excitement and strength returned to her as they neared the opening to the vault. The reddish hue of glowing rune and sigils spread out across the vault was enough to bring a smile to her face. Though the woman couldn't be seen through all the smoke, the glow proved that she had successfully dealt with the protection spells. Now just to find her through the mess...
Bodies moved about in the smoke, screams and the crack of Anima accented their forms. She slowed as she entered the thick fog like substance, pulling a mask equipped with filtering runes out of her jacket pocket. ˈR͡wioz͡ʻr̀e had done this enough by now to come prepared for smoke and fire. Still, despite their lungs and heads being safe from smoke, the lack of visibility was still a very real threat.
Al held out her bat like a flashlight and gingerly made her way through the mine field. She had almost made it to the thickest of the glowing runes when the smoke at her right contorted. Her bat was meeting the stomach of the aggressor before she had identified them, lighting the figure up like a tree in a thunderstorm. A feminine grunt met her ears when she swung a second time and barely connected. The woman grabbed the tip of her bat and pulled hard, throwing Al off balance.
She stumbled forward only to be jerked back as her attacker grabbed a fist full of her hair. Instinctively, Al reached up to grab the woman's hand with her bad arm. She hissed at the movement and even though she knew she was going to regret it, used her arm to create enough momentum to turn and sling the her bat. The attack missed again though she couldn't see five inches ahead to know why. Breathing hard, she swung again only to miss a third time. Her sharp finger nails sung into the woman's hand.
For a moment, nothing happened. Altalune stood still, dazed and confused. The hand above her was very real so why were none of her attacks connecting? No, that's not right. The first one connected. What the actual f-
A boot to her back made her cry out in surprise and loose her grip on the hand. She stumbled again, struggling to remain upright as the attacker released her. Altalune bared her teeth to the smoke from behind the protective mask, "Come here and fight like a Voraxa damned woman, coward!"
The smoke thickened in real time around her and Al's breath started to come harder. She wasn't breathing it in and her eyes weren't burning due to the mask, but it was beginning to have a claustrophobic affect. She turned multiple times in vain to see through the thickening smoke, brain working on overdrive.
How do they know where I am when I can't see past my nose? It doesn't make any sense. It's almost like -
"An illusion," the words came out like her breath had been pulled from her. The smoke and the disembodied hand. Had it all been in her mind? If it was an illusion then it could only be one person. Devland's gang had one such illusionist in their ranks. "You can give it rest, Evelly! It's been nice, but old Al would like to see your disgusting little face!"
As if one command, the smoke cleared to a workable level and a giggle accompanied the approaching figure of the little girl. Evelly smiled her wide, innocent smile, hands behind her back. Blond curls bounced as she tilted her head, "Did you like the show, Al? I've been working on my magic. Devland says that I have a wonderful knack for it."
Altalune frowned down at the girl in barely concealed disgust, "I'm sure Devland tells you a lot of pretty little things, Evelly. Devland isn't the most trustworthy sort. "
Not more than fifteen, Evelly had first appeared by Devland's side almost six years ago. She and the others had been appalled to see a nine year old hanging around some of the most brutal of their kind, but it took only one fight to realize why Devland had recruited her. Orphaned like so many of them and missed by none, Evelly had been desperate for food and shelter. So much so that she had killed an entire family with her illusion Anima. Compelled them straight to their death.
They had burned with smiles on their faces.
Even Al had shivered when she heard of the powerful girl. Devland had seen a kindred spirit in the young and impressionable girl, and now he was creating a monster.
Evelly hummed with narrowed eyes, "Do you know how many times I could have killed you just now? Approximately 37 times and in so many different ways."
"Then why not kill me? I'm sure Devland would have thrown a banquet in your honor for bringing him my head." Screams continued in the background and Al was reminded of the time she had wasted.
The teenager shook her head with a grin, voice so young and sinster, "I don't want to kill you. You make me laugh. I think I like playing with you the most."
Slowly, Al inched around the petite form, bat extended in warning. Bubblegum hair flopped in front of her face as she tossed her head with a laugh. I just need to get by her. Now that I know she's here, it should be easier to resist her magic.
"Well, it's been fun then, but I have to go. Vaults to smash and cores to steal. How about we take a rain check on the play date, hmm? I'm sure you understand, love." In one swift movement, she flicked her wrist and called out a simple concussion spell. The force of the wave wasn't enough to kill the girl, but it knocked her off her feet with a squeak.
Al made a run for the vault opening. She had been closer than she thought which was no doubt the reasoning of her delay. Though Devalnd's group had strong and powerful mages, none could beat her in sheer brute force of evocation. Which the reddish tones of Emari's sigil's shining in her face and the continuing clash of bodies all around her, Al squared up for the job she had come to do.
"Batter up!"
The room flashed with the bright blue of her bat meeting tons of steel and as the force of the crash echoed through her arms and body, Al felt like she might pass out. The vault erupted inward and for a moment, all the fighting stopped and it was quiet.
Head swimming, she stepped inside the vault, quivering from the Anima still around her and coursing through her body like an electrical shock. Hair now erect, she surveyed the room as the dust cleared. The cores shined like diamonds in the smoke, but they weren't the only thing in the room. She looked to her left and groaned out loud, "You have got to be kidding me..."
Reactors and lots of them, all damaged from her spell and the fighting. She swayed on her feet as the reality fo the situation hit her in full force.
We're all going to die.

{ @shootforthestars No worries, I thought it was a great reply! Certainly helped with mine, although I'm admittedly not certain how to wrap things up. So I kind of went with the explosion ending in a cliffhanger, as you do, but we should be able to fit more fighting in there if you like. Or I can save the explosion for later.
Figured I'd test out how Maddox feels, but also sorta combined Harley in with this reply. I really don't know much about how to write Maddox yet, though I have a pretty solid idea of what he should be like, just working on how to properly transcribe it, so this is a little distant-sounding. It's also lackluster like most my scenes, because I am always dreadfully low on muse.
I mainly just wanted to work on the color scheme of this one because I wasn't super happy with it before. I think I like this one a good bit better, though finding images that I like and fit is difficult, and now all of my codings are somewhat dark again. Oh well, I'm a creature of habit. It also looks a bit like Al's, but consider it a compliment.
Also, let me know if I need to edit anything. I didn't want to sideline Al too badly, but explosion. As usual, feel free to take liberties with what my charries are doing and throw in your own action/add to what happened. And like I said, if you'd rather wait, I can do the explosion in a later post. I'm not always the best at pacing, so just let me know }

[[ Honestly, looking up color schemes and finding matching photos is so satisfying...
It really seems like we all have some self-care thing to work on, doesn't it? We should add that to the list of things for which this RP stands (pro-improving-our-self-care?).
Also, would it be ok if I typed up another Alex post? I don't want to get ahead too much, but I would like to write something up now that the quarter is done (thank the exam lords finals were not too hard). ]]

Honestly? I just started watching a show with vampires and while the ones there don't act a lot like Alex, the show's got hella Alexesque aesthetic. So now every time I watch an episode, I feel like writing an Alex post xD ]]

{ mossecho Shoot needs to teach us her ways, I guess. That's a big mood about school, Moss. Honestly, academics are a very love/hate thing with me.
Bring on all the Alex aesthetic. When are we gonna get a real life Alex, btw? You've had almost a year now, Moss. This is getting ridiculous. It's not that hard to create a whole, living person jk i love you, please don't take actual offense }

Well, here I am at 3AM once again. XD My sleep schedule is jacked y'all. I don't have a reply this time though I have read it Starchaser and I love the anticipation that is building. I'm totally down to blow the building and anyone who happened to be inside. I'm all for the dramatic stuff. XD Also, I loved getting to see things from Madds prospective for a bit even if you weren't super happy with it. I enjoyed it, but then again, I enjoy reading everyone's stuff... all the time.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll get a reply up tomorrow after I slept until 3PM tomorrow to offset the late nights. I really need to start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier as well... man I feel like a GrandmaHey mossecho! Good to see you again! I missed interacting with everyone. Take your time with everything though because I know it has been a stressful few weeks for everyone. Go for the new Alex post! Honestly, at this point, I say we just post. XD Get everyone back in the grove of things. I miss our babies. T-T What ways do I need to teach? Color palettes or surviving anxiety? XD I defiantly don't think my eye for color palettes is as developed as y'alls and my destroyed finger nails would suggest that my anxiety about school has been pretty high in recent weeks... but dogs help. I have a fish that I keep alive and that's nice. XD Also, Jesus. Lots of Jesus. XD Anxiety is something that I have struggled with, but not to the extent that my friends do. I have one really close friend that recently had an extreme panic/anxiety attack; it lasted for over 18 hours apparently. She's gotten a lot better in recent weeks due to her quitting her job and taking major steps back from certain obligations. I've only ever had one major event like that and it was in middle school (it was stress/school induced and I ran out of class sobbing). Though I will say that I used to puke before every test in high school because of the intense pressure I put myself under. That has also majorly melted away in college. So I get it. Sorry part 2 for oversharing. XD)

[[ Starchaser : well, rest assured, i will lurk on thy blog [insert creepy face here]
Oh god that is too familiar, I'm sorry Star. It's not oversharing at all, it's perfectly ok for you to talk about it (supportive hugs to you <3). For me I was always complimented for being smart as a kid, so that lead to me viewing my worth as being directly tied to my academics/general life accomplishments and... you can prob guess where that is going... yay. Sorry to hear about your bad therapy experience, that really sucks. Mine have been ok, but I have not been in years. Which really isn't good because I know that something's wrong (well, probably multiple somethings). Oh well. At least I'm trying now...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@shootforthestars : Great to talk to you again! It's not 3am here yet but dear oh dear, it's getting there.
Oh goodness, really sorry to hear about your friend, that sounds awful. Hope she's feeling better. Same for your little high school self, hope that self-induced pressure didn't last too long (supportive hugs to you too <3) (and again, it's not oversharing at all, I'm always willing to listen)
Real life Alex is still a work in progress, but here is a bad sketch of him. why is he wearing a hat? i do not know. why is his hair curly? because it's easier to draw than straight hair (his is straight in the rp). why does he have no feet? they're too hard to draw (you can see my attempts). why is this hidden as a spoiler? to save your eyeballs.
i need a better eraser. and time management. and drawing skills. also, why are his shoulders so broad? alex is a lanky fellow, he doesn't have a doritos torso. also also, this is the back of an econ quiz from 11th grade because it's the only paper I could find on short notice aka I was filing stuff recently and I don't want to draw on anything important and f that quiz, it was toughalso also also, his nose should be rounder but idk how to draw noses so whatever also also also also, arms are awful to draw. i hate elbows. they're dumb also also also also also, his suit isn't too bad but it does not capture Alex's Expensive Tastes™

[[ Starchaser : honestly idk how tall Alex is. I've always just figured that he would tower over most other people (idk about Avani tho). at least over 6ft? idk. I'd base his height off of that of tall people I know, but I'm 5'3 and all my friends are giraffes from my perspective (may they walk into low-hanging branches their entire life, mwahaha).
Honestly same. I have a decent sense of what Alex generally looks like (tall, medium-to-dark brown skin (I have a specific idea of his skin tone but idk how to describe it besides that), black hair, mainly black-and-white outfits, gold cross around the neck), but idk what his face actually looks like. He'd have a round nose but... I can't picture his face to save my life. And for Lu... I honestly forget what Lu looks like. She's supposed to be short and decently fashionable, but I don't know what her face looks like. Honestly I've thought a lot more about what she looks like as a bird than as a human 😅
Yeah, I've heard of it! I don't know much about it, other than there's an extrovert vs introvert thing. Alex is definitely an introvert, but that's no surprise. And Lu's an extrovert, duh.
Sleep-deprived funny things are always even funnier to read when well-rested xD ]][/font

{ mossecho I love that Lilah is then the only person in the entire group under 6 feet and everyone is at least a foot taller than her. I love height differences, I just think they're fun. For Alex to be on the taller side just within the group, I'd say like 6'2 or over. Clarisse is actually the shortest aside from Lilah and she's 6 feet. Caspian is 6'1 (like Veive) and Avani is 6'5.
Maybe I also just find it funny because it so closely mirrors my life experience. Everyone is tall to me too, I have had one friend shorter than me in my entire life and it was by like half an inch. I get the sense that I am also the shortest person of our RP group in real life too (that was worded poorly, but). I don't actually know, but I'm shorter than average for certain, and somehow I just get the vibe. Moss, you were my last hope and yet you had the audacity to be multiple inches taller than me. For shame.
Yeah, I feel like I can pretty well imagine what my characters look like, but describing them accurately is a different story. I can't really put a face to any of them though. Faces to me are always the hardest part, maybe that's because I've read we can't come up with new faces? Lilah probably has the clearest picture in my head, but I still can't really put it to terms, so her description seems to change a lot.
Welp, I went through a phase of being very into personality theories so I know a lot about it xD There's a lot of free online tests, I just try to take them as my characters would. I kinda feel like Alex is an ISTJ or INTJ? Avani and Clari strike me as extraverts. I was thinking ExFx for Avani and ESTP for Clarisse? Maybe? Lilah is INFJ, I feel fairly certain, at least that's how I imagined her. Caspian is ESFP or ESTP. }

[[ Starchaser : They are all giants and then Lilah's the smol friend
Mwahaha, I too am a giant. especially when compared to my mom and grandma... my mom hit 5'0 and stopped growing, and my grandma never even made it that far side note though... when I was a senior in high school I thought I was 5'2. when I went to the doctor, they measured my height. turns out I was (and still am, obviously) 5'3 and a quarter. That unexpected inch and a quarter made me weirdly proud xD then I got the immense pleasure of correcting my friends whenever they made fun of my height, mwahaha. even though they did (and still do) tower over me
Honestly I am so bad at remembering faces, it's embarrassing. Alex's appearance is based on a bunch off a bunch of my family members (also named after a few of them), but for Lu I have no clear inspiration. Her last name is from a Polish youtuber, but I don't imagine they'd look very similar.
I have no idea if I'd categorize Alex as ISTJ or INTJ. He'd certainly like to be more sensitive than intuitive, but I'm not sure he is. I don't know about the other main ones. Although honestly I don't have enough experience with them to judge anyhow xD

{ mossecho I am living for that, tbh.
Ya calling me short, Moss? Come say it to my face. Your kneecaps are done fo. Anyways, I relate to your mom, I'm pretty sure I didn't grow any after I started high school.
Big mood. I'm bad at remembering physical details in general, for the most part. That's really cool about Alex! I wish Lilah had some kind of interesting creation process, but she just kinda spontaneously came into existence. Most of my characters do. Well, there's a long, convoluted story to her name that makes it somewhat personal, but that's it.
So maybe Alex is an INTJ that tries to be more like an ISTJ then? He seems like he might be slightly N to me, but I am a bit rusty at this stuff. }

Starchaser Which boy do I care about the least...? This is foreboding... I don't know if I can answer this question. I haven't been with them long enough to form a huge emotional attachment yet. I don't want to see either of them perish, but if you must choose, choose with you heart. *nods solemnly* Oh goodness, I love how we are now all comparing heights. XD I don't know how tall Amber is, but just by deduction alone, it seems that I, Shoot, am the tall friend of the group. Heck yeah! Considering I have a friend who is well into the 7 foot range, this is an accomplishment that I must savor. And Star, I just wanted you to know that I took the Meyer's test just to see how accurate your Clarisse pick was (I was super curious) and gosh darn it Star. You nailed it. I took it as she would based on her character so far and up popped the ESTP-A classification. You have impressed me. mossecho ALEX IS BEAUTIFUL! I love his hat! You did such a good job on him!

{ @shootforthestars Oh, don't worry, I wouldn't kill one of them yet. I've gotta make sure people actually care about them first, so it will be painful (: Maybe I wont end up killing either of them... but maybe I will.
I definitely imagined you and Amber on the taller side. Maybe it was just because of your characters' heights, but I think I recall Amber describing Lys (who is 5'6) as having a small stature (though I think part of it was from her build rather than just height) and I was like "hmm, potential tall person alert." Also, one of your friends is over 7 feet? o.o That is towering, wow. You must know though, as tall friend of this group, you're now responsible for for being a human shield from all the elements, be it wind, rain, sun, etc.
I like to fancy myself as being pretty good at reading people, but even if that's not the case, if there's one thing I know well it's MBTI. }

Starchaser Wow, this was a lot more emotional than I thought. I went ahead with the explosion and the aftermath of what followed. I will support you if you decide to kill one off though I'm happy to hear that no one will die... yet. XD I went ahead and set it up for anything to happen to give you plenty of room to play with. I also figured that no matter what happened or what spell they casted, not many would have survived such a big explosion so lots of dead bodies and angst in this post.
But seriously, this is totally me right now:
Altalune "Al" Abernathy “And When I breathed, my breath was lightning." - Black Elk
♤ ⤐ ϟ The Bat Wielding Manic ϟ ⬷ ♤
Al already knew that they had to get out of there. The moment she had entered the vault, she knew that it had been a mistake to blast through. Her magic was drained and she was injured badly. Some of the cores were in tip top condition while others were soaked in the liquid that leaked out of the machines. As the last of her Anima crackled around her, she knew that the liquid was incendiary in nature. It could light within a few seconds, minutes, hours. They were staring at a ticking time bomb.
She coughed wetly and nodded to Maddox, "Yeah, no arguing with that." Her gang wasn't reckless to the point of blowing themselves up. Madds hand steadied her thoughts and she turned to start the process of getting the Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s out of there when she heard the grating voice of Devland himself.
Her teeth were bared in an attempt at intimidation, "Spare me the act, Devland. I don't want the last thing I see or hear to be your face and voice. At least try to be less vomit inducing." She held up the same finger as earlier as he blipped away with the same grating smile. He was rarely phased by such impish jabs, but she was barely trying around the pain and the growing panic.
As the others began to grab the cores on the fly, she made to grab Maddox. Al wanted the cores, but she also desperately wanted to see the next morning. Nothing except her family was worth her life. Not even the biggest stash of cores they had seen in years. The money and magic that could have come from the cores could have sustained them for months, a full year maybe. Yet, it wasn't worth it. Al's years on the street told it was better to live to see another day.
"Come on, we just need - Harley!" Her gasp was shocked. "What are you doing, you dolt? Leave the cores! We need to go!"
Despite herself, Al yelped in surprise when the small explosion made the ceiling shudder and crack apart. She cradled her bat over her head, the last of her magic summoning a meager protection spell over her head. She grunted when she was yanked forward by her family, but didn't resist. If anything she went willingly to the exit, glad that he had finally decided to leave and run like Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s.
However, when he stopped and stated that his brother was nowhere, Al cursed something foul and violent, "That idiot! He's going to get himself and everyone else killed! I'll flay him alive and rip off his -" She grunted again as he pushed her yet once more, highly irritated this time. "Stop that! I'm going and you should too! Harley can get himself out of his own mess! You're going to get yourself killed and I'm not going to Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s for you both!"
But when the world shuddered a second time and the wave of heat threatened to over take her, she grabbed Maddox and sprinted to the exit. Al fought back the tears, sensing that their time was nearly up.
It was cruel that she saw the light of the outside before the explosion sent her flying. She hit the ground was a sickening crack next to Maddox and screamed for the sheer pain before there was nothing at all.
---
The creek of the door meant one thing to the little girl: her mother was home. Strawberry blond hair bounced as she sprang from her hiding spot, eyes alight with joy.
"Mother! You're home! How are you -" The little girl stopped herself. There was a man.
The door clicked shut as the tall and slender woman turned around with a soft, but warning smile. The man payed her no mind as her mother busied herself about the small apartment and said, "Altalune, why don't you go to the back room for a few minutes? Mommy needs to talk to this gentleman."
The little girl swallowed, shoulders scrunching in and stomach protesting, "But I haven't seen you in days -"
"Altalune."
The tone was enough to make her flinch back. She bit her lip to keep from crying, "Yes, mother. But... just a few minutes, right?"
Her mother sighed and bent down in front of the girl, eyes exhausted. She caressed the little girl's cheek, "Yes, baby. Go be a good girl in the back room, and I'll see you in a few minutes."
---
The incessant ringing was the first thing she noticed. Al moaned into the darkness, tear streaked cheeks warm with the liquid.
Is this Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s?
No, she was in too much pain. There was too much heat. She wasn't drowning; she was burning, from the inside out. No... from the outside in. The heat and pain were the second and third thing with the rancid smell of burning flesh the fourth.
In a few minutes... Had she been talking to her mother? But her mother was dead. So I am in Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s... man the priests got it wrong.
Al struggled to open her eyes and was met with a collage of colors and no solid shapes. She took a breath and turned her head to the left. The blob of red and black spoke to her of times forgotten so she lingered on the shape. Slowly, the form of a man emerged. A man...? What is a man doing here in Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s?
Get yourself killed and I'll go to Ech͡nˈio̯tsic͡s, find your arse, and personally see to your torment.
Al stared, confused by the vivid memory. The man looked like the one in her memory, but for some reason, she knew it wasn't him. What was his named again? She coughed, red dotting the ground beside her. That couldn't be good, Maddox would be kill her to know she was throwing up blood again.
"Maddox..." The name escaped her chapped lips like water from a dam. The form she was looking at was Maddox. It all came flooding back at once: the raid, the cores, Devland, Maddox and Harley being caught in the explosion with her. She reached out for him with a grimace and a grunt of pain. "Maddox get up... Maddox..."
Pulling herself closer to him amidst the rubble and debris and baked body parts took too long and involved too much pain in her shoulder. But soon she was over him and coughing, tears welling up in her eyes at the sight of him, "Maddox, come on... get up. We... we hav - Harley. Let's find Harley, Madds."
Yes, baby... I'll see you in a few minutes.
Al let the tears run down her cheek as she started to shake the mage that had become her family, "Madds, get up. Please."

{ @shootforthestars Okay, obviously I'm still working on my reply but SHOOT! You're not supposed to make me feel emotions like that! I had to take breaks reading that response like the really dramatic scenes in books. You are going to end me.
Me, right now:
Seriously, us and our affinity for getting attached to problematic characters. This is how you know we write.
Also, I'm gonna try to keep my responses shorter since I feel this scene should be a faster-paced one, but no promises, especially since I inevitably have to include a dream sequence now. }

[[ Starchaser : tiny wittle one...
Honestly Alex is just based off of various family members (in terms of appearance, not personality, they're all lunatics) (but I love them) (and they probably think I'm crazy so eh, we're even) because I was visiting them for Christmas. It was just easier to base it off of them because they were close by xD Lu's development is closer to Lilah's. More of a spontaneous, gotta-think-up-someone sort of thing. Although her name had little to no meaning behind it, I just liked the name Lucrecia. I wanted her family name to be Slavic to match Clarisse's surname and Zembrowska sounds nice so... yeah. Alex's first name and one of his surnames is from a relative, but I chose the other one purely because it sounded good with the rest of his name. and for both of them I was too lazy to find a good middle name, heheh
Oh goodness, we have so much in common with these characters xD
I guess? I don't know, I know nothing about MBTI, so you're definitely the better person to make that call than me. (: ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ Alexander kept his hand aloft, but the moments barely bothered to sloth by. Everything slowed down. Logically, he knew that time was passing normally. It was his perception that had sped up, shifting into overdrive. Instead of time passing slower, Alex was rushing through it. He was living between seconds.
He glanced around the bar, searching for a watch. Alex needed some form of measurement. Someone must have one an event such as this. Alex spotted a silver- and gold-inlaid number on a Shifter's wrist. The vampire instinctively wrinkled his nose as he refocused on the werewolf, on her wrist. The second hand was caught between the twentieth and the twenty-first mark, slowly turning away from the delicate "4" notch. With barely a quarter of a second passed, Alex refocused away from the Shifter's wrist and to exactly what was happening.
Before he could dedicate a meaningful thought to why his perception instinctually shifted, Alex knew why. His skin prickled, a wash of electricity-like shock running across it. The vampire grimaced, the feeling entirely foreign. Alex experienced his reaction in a drawn-out series, the electricity passing over his skin before sinking through the rest of his body. Skin, muscle, organs, tissue, bone. It reached his dead heart, rocketing through his arteries before returning through his veins. For a moment, his heart seemed to beat. An impossibility, a mere illusion of feeling. But a feeling nonetheless.
Funny. Alex knew how a heart worked from a theoretical standpoint. Electrical pulses, in and out, expansion, contraction. Rush blood through the body, pull it back again. He knew what hearts sounded like. You know what they look like, when they work. When they stop. The vampire grimaced. Not a pleasant image, that. Best not bring it up again. Still, he had never felt his own heart beat. Vampires only retained them as some bizarre leftover from evolution. They were as useful as the plica semilunaris. Something proto-vampires needed only before they found a better alternative. Regardless, feeling his heart beat, even just once, was... something. Beautiful, I suppose, he mused. In a strange, rhythmic way. A small fleck of permanent music, if Alex wanted to be poetic.
Poetry is not your priority right now. His heart had moved just slightly. Alex should really not be wasting so much time on that. After checking the Shifter's wristwatch (a fifth of a second had passed), he turned to Lilah. Nothing seemed to amiss with her. A gentle, dying curl of steam wafted off of her tea, how ordinary. Still, Alex was not too foolish to miss the hairs rising on her arm. Slowly, so slowly, the Mage's eyes tracked the rest of the room.
Time slowed even more, yet nothing smelled amiss. There was no burning, no sudden flares of magic. Nothing to create a literal shock. Alex did not notice any unexpected, likely-shock-induced muscle contractions nearby, so the issue must be largely centered on him and Lilah. Always so focused on yourself, Alexander. It makes you anosmatic. The vampire kept his hand in the air, not wanting the exceedingly rude human and his companion (Lysandra, no?) to notice any movement, no matter how blurred. Still, he scanned the room visually. Hearing was not much use, not when everything was distorted by the slowness. Still, nothing. Nothing seemed amiss.
How could you notice nothing? You are becoming human, Alexander. The vampire checked the watch one last time. Only a tenth of a second had passed. Alex tightened his jaw. He returned himself to his original positioning, eyes focused on Lysandra as if he had never looked elsewhere. Head untilted, spine straight, everything in perfect alignment. The smallest of polite smiles. Yet time did not resume normally. Instead, Alex was stuck on the past few moments.
Rushing. So many things to remember. The alcohol dancing across every exhalation, the floral perfume with metallic undertones, the saltiness of laughing tears. Roars, laughter, subtle flirting, flirting as subtle as a human walking. The names, all the names. Crispen, Lysandra. Maiele, Corym, Geralt. As Alex flicked through the names, time sped up. Another tenth of a second passed. Then a ninth, then a seventh. Andrzej, Qubing, Adedoyin. Alex (-ander Rojas Lopez), Lilah Lancaster. So many names, so many of them unattached. Strange, how no one used their last names. Oh, you idiot. "Lancaster," the human had said. "Lancaster."
Had Lilah told him her name before? Had she told him if it was significant? Maybe and no. Alex tried to slow everything down, tried to rush through time, but he could not. He had less than a tenth of a second left. Anxiety pulled at his dead heart. Dread pooled in his stomach. The human said Lilah's last name with a certain... inflection. Not of reverence, not of innate respect, but some form of recognition. That was important. In such a foreign world, recognition was beyond important. So why had Lilah hidden her name?
Alex forced himself to stay still. His second was up.
[[ kept it short, just wanted to give plenty of room for Amber (and it's late and i'm lazy, but let's all forget about that) and not cut off my last post. also, well... there's really not much to react to here, I'm really sorry about that. It ended up being a quick interest piece, not really an RP post. I hope y'all don't mind too much. <3
also i did not read this over so... idk if it's comprehensible, lol also i didn't double-check the math to make sure that the fractions of a second line up correctly, but i thiiink they do...?
also, decided to bring in the fact that Alex doesn't know that Lilah's a Lancaster or that that's significant. Amber : hope you don't mind I added a bit about how Crispen said Lilah's last name (I can change it if you'd like! (: ) Starchaser , I left it open so you can decide whether or not it's dealt with right now. I hope you don't mind me bringing it in 🙃 (also, I assumed a few things about how Lilah's body reacted to the charge in the air, hope you don't mind) (also I described it more as a shock than just a general feeling in the air for Alex, but... idk. he's hypersensitive, that's my excuse) ]]
