Skyrunner / Camp / StarterThe black and white tom slid out of the warrior's den and into the open, watching his clan mates carefully as they go about their day. It seemed a bit odd for things to be this calm at the moment ever since Ashbird was murdered and the war between the other two clans. Skyrunner felt anger towards GrottoClan and RiftClan for not owning up to their mistake and bringing forward whoever did the horrible deed. His claws scrapped the ground lightly, envisioning himself sinking his claws into their pelts until they told them who killed the deputy. He respected Screechlight's decisions about attacking their patrols and even going after the Crystal Pool. It was a shame they lost and brought back battle wounds instead of victory. His pale yellow eyes scanned the camp to see if Bumblepaw was awake to do some training. Not spotting the tom, he decided to grab something to eat before the day moves forward. He walked to the prey and sniffed at a few of them, picking up a mouse and sitting alone to eat it. Patchpelt / Camp / StarterPatchpelt gave a big stretch near the center of camp where the stream split the ground in half. She felt happy to be out of the stuffy den and had hoped today would be eventful. Or at least in the matter of hunting or a border patrol instead of another attack on their neighboring clans. It bothered her how much Screechlight believed the other clans would dare kill their deputy. There didn't seem to be a reason to do something such as that unless they wanted a war. GrottoClan always were closed off and in their cave systems while RiftClan kept to their forest. She wondered if there was someone no one knew about who did this. A stranger who came across the three clans and wanted to kill just to see what could happen. Patchpelt shook her head before sitting down and watching her reflection in the water shimmer. She hoped the war didn't end with a clan ending up dead. Mosspaw / Camp / Starter
A small bundle of brown and white pushed itself out of the apprentice, almost falling face first into the ground. Mosspaw huffed to herself as she got back onto her paws and shook out her thick pelt. Her fur had grown longer these past three moons and it drove her crazy how hard it was to keep up with it. No matter how many times she groomed it, dirt or something else would get caught in it. She doubled check to make sure she was presentable before hurrying to the fresh kill pile and snatching something to eat. The clan had been tense the past few moons from the war and it felt as though nothing will be normal again. Many restless nights stacked upon one another for the apprentice and training started to become difficult to concentrate without almost falling asleep. She felt bad for Blizzardtuft, hoping her mentor wouldn't punish her for being lousy at her duties. She took a bite out of the prey and watched the clan quietly around her.

Blizzardtuft Blizzardtuft felt her jaw drop open at her sister's reveal. It wasn't shocking that her sister would refuse to attack a single warrior- but the fact that the RiftClan warrior also let her go was enough to cause her brain to short-circuit. Ever since the war declaration, RiftClan seemed just as eager as SummitClan to leap into battle with random cats. It made the border a very dangerous place to go- especially alone.
"Well, I'm just glad you're safe," she meowed, sweeping her tail over her paws. "I don't know what I'd do if you got seriously hurt."
The sound of pawsteps pricked her ears, and as she looked around she spotted Stormchaser a few tail-lengths away. Did he hear Whitewhisp's confession? She wondered in panic. The last thing her sister needed was to be ratted out for trying to protect herself. Stormchaser wouldn't tell Screechlight, right?
Steadying her voice she called out, "Stormchaser, how are you doing this morning?"

Screechlight "Yes, of course I'll talk to him about it," Screechlight responded. He wasn't sure how likely the clan medicine cat coming to check on his mate yet again when he had so many battle wounds to deal with was, but he would at least talk to the older cat.
Lying down next to Maplestorm, he looked over the sleeping forms of his kits. They were so small, so fragile. They were perfect little warriors-to-be, and he couldn't help but smile when he saw them. I wish Ashbird were here, the dark part of his mind thought. She'd laugh and make fun of the dumb face I make when I see them.
But Ashbird wasn't there, not anymore. She would never be there again. Turning back to the conversation at hand, Screechlight caught the last sentence Maplestorm spoke. "Well let's hope they don't have to save us for many more moons," he purred, eyes gazing at their tiny forms with concern. "Right now they should be more focused on sleep than any upcoming disaster."

Rainsong Camp Starter
Rainsong sat near the stream, wondering if she would be assigned to another border patrol. At first she had been opposed to attacking any patrols of the other clans for, in her opinion, no good reason but lately she had gotten used to it. Not that she saw any point in it. Screechlight was a fool for declaring war on the other clans. Even if Ashbird's killer came forward, there was no way this would end the war. Rainsong doubted that Thunderlight and Glowlight would be willing to forgive Screechlight for dragging their clans into this mess so easily, especially RiftClan would probably continue attacking SummitClan patrols. She had made some snide remarks about Screechlight's idiocy lately, sometimes she just couldn't help herself. One time she even went so far as to say that it was a miracle that his kits were going to save SummitClan one day and that they'd better not inherited their father's intelligence. Still, she tried to do so only around cats who seemed to share her opinion on him. There was no point in starting an argument with her clanmates, the clan had enough problems already.

Appearances made sense to Rootpaw, it was interesting to her how much sense Coldpaw seemed to be making. Maybe she was too hasty in discounting him when she was an apprentice. In truth, she hadn't much talked to him before, though he was the closest to her in age. She had always striven to be closer to Lightningmask and Sunhawk when they were still in the den, but the last four moons had mainly been spent on her own. Rootpaw missed having accomplices in her mischief, and realised with sadness that her days of acting out may well be over soon. Rootpaw nodded approvingly at Coldpaw's opinion of her naming. At least they were on some accord about Screechlight's head being less than centred around his own clan's happenings.
"If I were still the age of an apprentice, I'd probably suggest we take matters into our own paws and launch a border patrol ourselves right now. But I'd hate for anything to hold me back even more. If I can have my ceremony delayed through no fault of my own, I'm sure it would be delayed another full season if I were to actually be at fault for somehting." She shook her head with a smile. It was a funny thought, and already her eviler side was justifying the risk. It seemed the leader cared nothing for her already, would he really care to punish her if she acted bold?
Maplestorm wasn't content with Screechlight's promise of speaking with the medicine cat. She wished she could take things into her own paws, but she had so, so much else to be doing. Screechlight's war was a silly affair, and nothing of her concern. She oversaw the wellbeing of their clan's future, this war was merely the actions of a tom who didn't know what else to do with his grief. He would let it be soon enough. She believed that once his kits grew older, and he could truly see how important they were to be, all memory of Ashbird and the squabble her death provoked would become irrelevant to the leader.
Maplestorm tried to ignore the faraway look that she imagined came over Screechlight's face, she knew he thought of Ashbird more than was good for him. That wasn't her concern either. She had her eyes on the future, it was finally her turn to have an important life within the clan. Her ears flicked in slight annoyance, but she forced a smile. "Of course. Many moons yet for them to grow into what they're meant to become. For now they can dream of their destinies instead." It baffled the queen that her "mate" could be so inconsequential toward their litter's fates. The idea of their lives being normal was silly. From their very birth, they would need to be raised in accordance with their significance.
Her face changed, she would need a different approach if she wanted to ensure a relationship with Screechlight outside of their kits' lives. As soon as they were six moons, she could all but fade into the past. She nuzzled him in a surprise show of affection, desiring to show comfort to the strung-out and stressed leader. "The ancestors know these kits will heal our clan. But first they can heal you as well. You have new lives to love you, Screechlight." she mewed softly, and rasped a tongue over his cheek.

Whitewhisp Camp || Blizzardtuft lazy penguin Stormchaser Starchaser Whitewhisp jumped startled by Stormchasers sudden appearance, fur fluffing up in a dishelved manner. "Oh hi Stormchaser.. I didn't see you there", she mewed quickly before giving her pelt a few licks to help it lie flat once again. The white warrior cast a worried glance to her sister, had the tom heard her confession? Now though was not time to question things. She needed to make things seem as normal as possible. "Excuse my jumpy behaviour, this war we are in has definitely taken its toll. A hunt actually sounds nice. Wanna get out of here before Screechlight has a chance to stop us?" She questioned putting on a light smile and looking to and from her sister and Stormchaser. It would be nice to get out of camp and hunt for prey, not other warriors for a change.

Screechlight Screechlight could tell that Maplestorm truly believed that their kits were destined for greatness- almost the whole clan did at this point. But he knew what it was like to grow up under immense pressure the last thing he wanted was his kits feeling unwelcome or underwhelming to the clan.
Still, if knowing their destinies could help them deal with it better, maybe Maplestorm had a point.
He flinched under her touch, physical affection was a rarity in their relationship, and even now it felt like a silent betrayal. He wasn't dumb. He knew that Maplestorm wanted to stay by his side long after their kits became warriors. But it wasn't fair for her to be padding after a tom like him with his head stuck in the past. "I suppose you're right," he muttered under his breath- but he wasn't so sure. The only thing that can ease your heart is the death of that fox-hearted murderer, his mother's voice hissed in his head. No family can heal that scar.

Blizzardtuft Blizzardtuft twitched her whiskers as Whitewhisp and Stormchaser made plans. "I dunno," she meowed hesitantly, "I don't want to leave Mosspaw behind."
Her sister was lucky- she didn't have an apprentice to worry about. Sure Mosspaw was literally the nicest apprentice Blizzardtuft could imagine, but she was a responsibility too. She couldn't just sneak out on hunting patrols with her friends and leave the younger cat behind.
"Maybe I can take her with us?" she suggested. "Or you two can go without me, it'll probably be safer too. Two warriors are harder to spot than three, you know."

Berrystorm's incident with the tree a few moons ago had left him with an intimidating-looking scar on his left shoulder, where the skin had healed but no fur had grown back. No doubt it made him look a little tougher, but he wasn't sure he was fond of it. No doubt it would be joined by a fine collection of other scars as the war went on, he thought a bit sourly as he sat just outside the warriors' den grooming his snow-white pelt. He wasn't a vain cat by any stretch, and it wasn't fear of losing good looks that gave him distaste. He just always thought of himself as being a more cuddly sort and wasn't eager to end up as one of those ragged, torn-eared elders bitter from battles they could no longer fight.
It was with a defeated sigh he finally gave up on his fur and the tiny bits of leaves and moss still tangled in its wispy strands. It seemed like everything stuck to it like he was a ball of cobwebs and he could waste all day just trying to pull out every bit of dry grass that stuck to his belly. At the very least, he had gotten all the tangles out.... and the blood and scabs left over from his last border skirmish the other day.
Getting to his paws with a huff, he trotted over towards the apprentices' den to see what Rootpaw was up to for the day. She was technically his apprentice now, and had been for about two moons, but he still felt awkward trying to tell the young she-cat what to do. She was plenty old enough to make her own decisions- ready to be a warrior, even- and there wasn't a lot he could teach her... especially since her former mentor had been Ashbird. He wasn't sure why Screechlight had thought he could do anything to follow up a cat like that. Even so, it still seemed proper to at least check up on the apprentice and try to point her in a direction if she seemed like she didn't have anything to do. Even if there wasn't a lot left that he could specifically teach her, he could try to be available if she needed anything.
Poking his head into the den, he caught the last few words of their conversation, though without context they meant nothing to him. He did notice the mischievous smirk on Rootpaw's face, however, but didn't acknowledge it other than to raise his eyebrows. "Good morning, you two. Do Screechlight or Bearheart have you doing anything yet today?" He wasn't sure where he was going with this.
(ooh Blaze ♡ I was just glancing back at the allegiances and if I adjusted Berrystorm's age up a few moons maybe he and Quietstorm could be littermates? Their personalities and appearances are just similar enough, plus that could be a reason they share a suffix lol)

Maplestorm leant back once more, pleased at his relenting admission of her point. I know I'm right, she thought smugly. She wouldn't dare voice her opinion about his blood feud, not yet while the pain so clearly affected him still. If this war began to look badly for their clan however, Maplestorm could not promise herself to stay quiet if it would affect the chance her kits had at greatness. "Just know that we're here for you, no matter what's going on out there. Don't forget about us during this war," she soothed lightly. Her orange tufted tail flicked over the three helpless bundles against her. They were all she had ever wanted, even before they began to run around. "Have you decided what your next plan will be? Will you continue to attack their patrols, or will you send out another battle patrol of our own?" Maplestorm usually kept their conversations light and unproblematic, but her curiosity for the leader's mind's workings sometimes got the better of her. Rootpaw's temptations for action were thwarted with the appearance of Berrystorm, the white tom who was attached to her by Screechlight for these past moons. She felt sorry for him, it was an unfair position to be placed in, especially given Rootpaw's already difficult demeanor toward even Ashbird. Most of her rebellious moons being behind her, Rootpaw had seen little use in tormenting Berrystorm as she had the former deputy for the beginning of her training. All the same, she wished he would throw her into something exciting, something risky, then perhaps she would stand a chance at gaining her warrior status and they could both go their separate ways. "Hello, Berrystorm," she meowed, dipping her head curtly. "Screechlight surely doesn't even remember our names, and we've yet to see Bearheart around. We're free and clear for the day, as with all days." She gave a playful glance to Coldpaw, hoping to keep him around for the surprisingly decent company he had provided.

•》Whitewhisp《• Camp || Blizzardtuft lazy penguin Stormchaser Starchaser Whitewhisps ears flattened at the though of her sister being excluded just simply because she had an apprentice. The white warrior desperately missed spending time with her sister, their days as apprentices training alongside each other were long gone. "You know you and your apprentice are always welcome to hunt with me, but I understand you wanting to put Mosspaws safety first." She ended her sentance by giving her sister and friendly shoulder touch with her tail. Though things had been rough lately, Whitewhisp knew that there was only so much her sister could do to shelter her apprentice from their harsh reality. In her mind the more experience gained the more capable one could be, but seeing as Mosspaw wasn't her apprentice this was not her decision to make. Stepping over to Stormchasers side to join him in hunting she waited for Blizzardtuft to make a decision.

Blizzardtuft Blizzardtuft let out a breath, trying to think. "I think I'll just ask her," she replied, choosing the simplest answer. "She's old enough to be making her own calls after all." It was true. Mosspaw was 9 moons now- only four moons from becoming a warrior. While she was still the youngest apprentice, she wasn't the same bright-eyed cat she was at the beginning of her training. "If you don't mind waiting a few moments?"
Dismissing herself with the flick of her tail, she dipped her head into the apprentice den. When she didn't spot her apprentice there, she did a quick spin around camp. She let out a chuckle when she spotted the young cat next to the fresh-kill pile. How did I miss her?
"Mosspaw!" she called, walking up to her. Dropping her voice into a low hush she continued. "Stormchaser and Whitewhisp were going to go out hunting, did you want us to join them?" She wasn't sure if her apprentice would understand the tension behind leaving camp before patrols were organized, but she hoped Mosspaw at least knew to keep the patrol secret if she chose not to go.

with Lightningmask [ Starchaser ] outside of warrior's den A flash of fur caught the corner of his eye and Sunhawk tensed for a brief moment before realizing it was just his sister. He wasn't sure how much more he could take of this; all of the wary and judgmental stares. The young tom was optimistic moons ago. He truly did believe things would get better but now, the future seemed bleak. "Morning," Sunhawk muttered. His amber gaze flickering towards his sister's lying form, she looked as tired as he felt. He brushed his tail over her back in comfort.

Screechlight Screechlight sighed. What were his plans for the war? "I've been thinking," he started, his mother's voice scolding him in the back of his head for such a weak opening. "I want to try to take the Crystal Pools again." He knew that it went poorly last time- even 'poorly' was an understatement, but the pools were a crucial part to the reason behind the war. Ashbird's body had been found there- and if he could have cats freely investigate there, maybe some clue would turn up. "There might be something of interest there- and it'll show those RiftClan cats that they can't just push us around!" he meowed, his voice full of false bravado. He didn't really want a major fight- in fact if Thunderlight wasn't attacking SummitClan cats whenever he saw them, he would simply send Bearheart and a few warriors there without taking the territory.
Hypocritical sure, after all he was the one who declared war. But how could I not? he wondered. How could I not stand up for someone I cared about?
"I also thought about sending a few patrols out into the territory to find tunnels," he added, trying to physically shake his thoughts out of his head. "Then we could fill the exits with rocks or something- try to keep GrottoClan from launching any stealth attacks. They've been too quiet lately."

Bluestrike - Summitclan camp Bluestrike opened his eyes, before shutting them with a slight hiss at the bright sunlight. He hadn't slept well during the night, as his mind was racing with thoughts of the lights. Realizing he had to get up, he opened his eyes again and rose to his feet. He made his way out of the den, yawning as he did so. He sat down in a patch of sunlight, twisting his neck to lick his shoulder, beginning to groom himself. Batpelt - Summitclan camp Batpelt padded towards the fresh-kill pile, yawning as he did so. He nosed through the pile before picking out a bird, and walked a few feet away before setting the bird down. He stretched his claws before lying down himself, taking a bite out of his meal

COLDPAW || SUMMITCLAN CAMP || EARLY MORNING || ROOTPAW (Stealthfire ), BERRYSTORM (Aphelyon )
Coldpaw looked curiously over at the older apprentice, catching the mischievous glint in her eyes. He couldn't help but inwardly smile, remembering all the trouble Rootpaw had stirred up when she was younger. It was anyone's guess as to how Ashbird handled the unruly apprentice, though she was undoubtedly the best match. The past few moons had dampened everyone's spirits, but clearly Rootpaw hadn't lost her bold demeanor. Coldpaw had looked up to her skill early in his apprenticeship, though he was often surprised at how reckless she could be. He supposed he shouldn't indulge such an appealing, but dangerous fantasy. "I don't know," he began uncertainly. "If anything were to go wrong we could be in a lot of trouble. Or get hurt if we get in over our heads. Or worse, killed. RiftClan has been... thorough as of late."
Ears flicking as Berrystorm approached, Coldpaw turned his gaze towards the older tom. "No, sir," he said, before amending, "Not as far as we know, anyways."
Berrystorm flicked his ear in awkwardness at being called 'sir.' It seemed rather formal, he thought, and he wasn't used to it. Regardless, he twitched his whiskers at the idea that Screechlight didn't know the names of the two apprentices. "Oh, don't say that. You're not forgotten about, no doubt they just know you don't need babysitting anymore." He shrugged. "Just came to check up on you. If you've got nothing to do-" he paused, glancing over his shoulder at the camp. It looked like the fresh-kill pile was getting low. That would be a good thing to catch up on; the necessity of hunting patrols sometimes got lost in the fervor of planning battle, but the Clan needed to eat. And, it should keep them out of trouble, especially if they stayed away from the border. Still feeling the scabs uncomfortable under his pelt, Berrystorm wasn't particularly eager to try to provoke the other Clans again yet, no matter what Screechlight's opinion was. "-we could hunt," he finished, turning back to the apprentices. "Should be an easy day of it."
(obviously, this plan can still go as wrong as y'all want :P sorry it's a little short though)
