"Watch your step! The last thing we need is another injured apprentice."
You hear your mentor calling over his shoulder as he leads you up the crumbling path. Up hear the cold pierces through your fur as the wind flattens you to the wall. You were always good at navigating the cliffs near camp, but this was different. This was a challenge that could kill.
Still you couldn't turn away. You had made a commitment- you had told your mentor you were ready for this test. If you turned away now, you'd be branded as a coward. Shaking your head, you saw your breath escape your mouth. It was cold up hear, this close to the summit. The kind of cold that would kill a cat slowly if they stayed up here long.
"We're here."
Your mentor's voice drew your attention away from the ice crystals sticking to your fur. In front of you- a small path and a large cliff face. You could see small cracks and crevice- tiny footholds that could be used. But the wall was impossibly high- surely your mentor didn't expect you to climb all of it? The determination in his eyes said that, yes he did in fact expect you to climb all of it.
But this is what it meant to be a SummitClan cat. To face off with nature's brutality and spit in it's face with your bravery. There was no challenge to hard, no task impossible. The blood of heroes flowed through your veins, and as you hooked your paw in the first foothold you knew it was your time to prove it.

SummitClan occupies the middle and upper parts of Hæsta, the tallest of three visible mountains in the region. While they do have limited access to the foot of the mountain, that land is split up between RiftClan and GrottoClan and often subject to territorial disputes. Because of this, their territory is filled with variety, from pine forest to barren fields of ice, snow, and rock. While they have access to the summit and upper mountain, most cats tend to avoid it and apprentices who have yet to pass their climbing test are forbidden from traveling above the treeline. Below are a few important landmarks:
The Frozen River and Silver Falls -- close to the summit of the mountain, the stone opens up in the mouth of a mighty river. The Frozen River- as coined by SummitClan, starts out only a few tail- lengths across, but gradually grows wider and wider as it joins with meltwater further down the mountainside. When it meets the border with RiftClan it stretches a good 10 cat lengths, and cascades downwards in a large waterfall, forming a deep pool on the RiftClan side. Along the banks of the river, life thrives. Whether it just be shrubs or massive pines twisting up towards the sky, there always seems to be something green nearby, and the river is the main source of both herbs and prey for the cats of SummitClan.
The Living Stones -- located in the upper half of the mountain, just above the treeline, a small field of rocks, pebbles, and boulders creates a moorland of stone. During most of the day these rocks are in direct sunlight, soaking up warmth and light. However, this area stays hot even at night due to small earthen vents that release steam and warm air from inside the mountain. Because of this, when cats first stumbled across this feature, they believe the rock itself was breathing, and thought it was a cursed and dangerous place. However, they soon learned that it was the best place for relaxing in the sunshine and hunting small rodents like mice and voles.
The Cliff’s Edge -- the only path to the summit leads cats along what has been dubbed ‘The Cliff’s Edge’ a mile stretch of thin paths next to staggering drops, only the most surefooted cats feel comfortable journeying here. The closer to the summit one gets, the more snow covered and icy the paths get, making them even more slippery and dangerous. While most cats of SummitClan ironically avoid traveling to the summit, the cliffs are the best spot to catch large birds of prey like hawks and eagles. The pathways are forbidden for any apprentices who have not passed their climbing test.
The Upper Mountain -- on most days, the cats of SummitClan stay below the treeline and away from the Upper Mountain. Consisting of mainly stone, ice, and snow, the closer cats draw to the summit the more dangerous the landscape becomes. Sharp cut aways are matched with icy slides, and sharp and jagged stones seem to sit everywhere, cutting up pads and awaiting the unlucky cats who tumble off higher paths. However, the Upper Mountain does have its benefits. For starters, they provide the cats with snow and other resources that can only be found above the treeline. Mosses and lichens are more common up here- a vital resource for both bedding and the SummitClan burial process. And most important, the cats of SummitClan are the only ones who know the paths to navigate the Upper Mountain, making it a safe point for retreat if they were ever driven out of their home again.
The Lower Forest and Treeline -- The majority of the lower and middle mountain consists of pine forest. While broken up by rocky clearings, small meadows, and even smaller creeks, the prey found in these forests is fairly consistent. Rodents- whether it be mice, shrews, voles and more; as well as lagomorphs, and songbirds are the most common. However, larger predators like wolves, bears, foxes, and lynxes are also more common below the treeline.
The Ash Forest & Burning Stones -- A part of the Lower Forest, the Ash Forest is the remnants of a clearing of pines that burnt up in a wildfire many moons ago. While new growth is starting to rebuild, the landscape is still coated in ash and debris. Close to the center of this burnt up forest, are a pair of large stone slabs that appear to tilt up towards the summit of the mountain. When a cat of SummitClan passes away, their body is placed onto these burning stones and set on fire so that their soul can join the ancestors among the Haze.
SummitClan makes their camp in the northern part of their territory, just beneath the treeline. Stuck in between the Silver Falls and the Ash Forest, a large ravine cuts through the mountain side, keeping the harsh mountain winds at bay while still allowing afternoon sun to drift in. While dens are made on either side of the ravine, whether they be dug into the land or formed from twisting tree roots, a small stream cuts through the center of the ravine. Because of this, cats have instant access to fresh water, but if there are heavy periods of rainfall, the steam swells and risks flooding camp. Over the top of the ravine, a large pine tree sits suspended on rocks and it's own roots. Tall Pine, as it is known by the clan, is where the leader makes clan announcements and ceremonies, and the fresh kill pile is located just below it.
leader's den located in the shadow's of Tall Pine, the leader's den is nestled into the roots of the tree itself. While the den itself is built more into the side of the ravine and not in the twisting roots suspended above it, the entrance to the den sits right next to the mangle of roots that forms a makeshift bring up to the base of the tree. The interior walls of the den are a mix of dirt, roots, and woven plants, creating a cozy environment, sheltered from the noise and bustle of the camp below. The space itself isn't the largest, and it's max capacity is around 5 adult cats, or 10 apprentices.
medicine cat's den the medicine cat's den, is located on the other side of the ravine from the leader's den, and is much closer to the stream and bottom. Dug into the mud, the den itself lets in little light, and roots crawl down from the roof, creating makeshift barriers and nooks to hide herbs in. Fresh moss is also kept inside the den, gathered from the side of the stream, and lazy apprentices often come straight to the den when looking for fresh bedding. The den itself is large enough to house 7 adult cats or 14 apprentices.
warrior's den on the far side of the ravine, the warrior's den is made out of a pile of fallen rocks and plants. What once must have been a boulder that tumbled into the ravine, the crumbled stones and broken rocks pile together, leaving large spaces in between. While outer holes are stuffed with moss and other plants, the den itself uses the large connected gaps as spaces for beds. The den contains 4 large chambers each with enough space to hold around 10 full grown cats.
apprentice den Next to the warrior's den, the apprentices settle in a large cluster of twisting roots. Like the warriors', the holes in the walls of their den are stuffed with moss and plants to keep out rain and snow. However, unlike the warrior's den there is only one main chamber. In whole the apprentice den can hold around 7 adult cats or 14 apprentices.
elder's den low to the ground and on the opposite side of the stream from the medicine cat's den, the elder's den is dug into the earth. There are significantly less roots then in the other dug out dens, and the entrance to the space is slanted upwards in an attempt to try to keep it as dry as possible. Moss bedding is laid out neat and orderly, and the apprentices are expected to switch it out every week. The elder's den can hold around 7 adult cats or 14 apprentices at one time. nursery located next to the warrior's den, the nursery is made out of a clump of ferns and roots. The interior of the den is completely covered in moss, even the stone wall it shared with the warrior's den. Feather's from large birds of prey are also woven into the bedding to make it extra soft for kittens. The nursery can hold around 8 adult cats or 16 apprentices

In the beginning there was one one clan. The cats of RiftClan lived, hunted, and fought together all reaching towards the same goal of survival. However this changed when a young warrior named Grottomist lead a rebellion to oust her leader. The reason behind her rebellion varies from clan to clan, with SummitClan and GrottoClan believing that the leader was corrupt and incompetent while RiftClan says that Grottomist was vile and only wanted the power for herself. However, her attack was unsuccessful and the RiftClan leader and his loyalists drove the rebels up into the mountains, hoping they would starve and suffer among the peaks. While Grottomist lead her most loyal followers into the tunnels under the mountains in hopes to lay low and eventually strike again, taking back the valley that they had been exiled from, those not close to them chose to stay in the mountains ashamed and not willing to risk their lives for a cause that had already cost them their home. Grottomist however, never got the chance to reclaim her home, instead she died of an infection deep in the tunnels of the mountains. She was buried there and her followers settled near her grave, eventually becoming the third clan, GrottoClan.
- clan traditions -
Whenever a new litter of kits is born in SummitClan, the parents of said kits have a week to formally introduce their children to the clan. During the announcement of kits, parents announce the names selected for said kittens, and they are presented in front of the clan. Clan members who choose to (usually kin, or close friends of the parents) bring the kits small gift, whether it be shiny pebbles or a feather from a large bird.
When it comes time for an apprentice to become a warrior, there are a few requirements they must first accomplish. Like every other clan they have to complete hunting and fighting assessments. However, unlike the other clans SummitClan also requires apprentices to pass a climbing assessment. The test can be given any time during training, and only upon conclusion will a cat be permitted to hunt and travel in dangerous location on the upper mountain. Apprentices of every clan are also required to visit the summit of the mountain at least once. While they are not allowed to travel into the Haze and visit with the Eternal Lights, they leave their muddy pawprint on a long cliff's edge alongside apprentices from the past.
For long periods of time (around 2 moons), the clans are exposed to midnight sun and polar night. Because of this, celebrations are held on the last days before constant dark or light. The celebrations, known as the Last Sunset/Sunrise, feature days of friendly competition between clan members. Apprentices and warriors square off in mock fights, hunting challenges, and more. In the evening, the clan gathers together for a long feast and the elders tell stories of heroes of the past.
When lights flood the night sky, the cats of the clans see omens. The Northern Lights, though a rare sight, are believed to be direct messages from the clan's ancestors. The more cool colors such as greens, blues, and purples there are, the better the sign. However, the cats see warm colors such as yellows, reds, and pinks, with a bad connotation and if the Lights seem to be compromised of these, danger and destruction seemed eminent. Because the Northern Lights can be seen as a good omen when they appear, most ceremonies (warrior, apprentice, retirement, etc) are held during the night.
The cats of all three clan have two different versions of cats who have died. Normal cats only deal with the basic version of these cats, known simply as the ancestors. They are cats of the past who watch over the clans, and certain cats. However, when medicine cats wander into the Haze at the top of the mountain, they can interact with two types of ancestors. Eternal Lights, are good spirits who manifest in the smoke and fog to spread omens and messages designed to help and guide the clans. Erring Lights are bad or evil spirits who exist to cause chaos and destroy the clans. While their bodies are wrapped in the smoke of the Haze, medicine cats and leaders have mentioned seeing soft glowing lights in the center of their chests.
The cats of SummitClan have a very unique burial process in comparison to the other clans. Because of the Ash Forest in their territory they are able to set the bodies of fallen warriors on fire. The smoke released during the burn is seen as a cats soul traveling up to join the Haze and the rest of the ancestors.

- rules - I. Literacy. For this rp we aren't going to stress line or word counts. Inspiration comes when it comes, and we understand that sometimes you are low on muse and can't write much. However, we do ask that you avoid posting"one-liners" and that you try to use correct spelling and grammar in all your posts. Naturally, a few slip ups here and there aren't the end of the world, just make sure what you're posting in clear, and feel free to go back and edit posts if you notice major mistakes. What matters is that you are advancing the plot or conversation with whatever you write, not writing a giant paragraph that contributes nothing. Please avoid using "text talk" and abbreviations in your posts unless you are talking OOC. If you are talking out of character, please make sure to indicate it in someway, whether it be brackets, parenthesis, or a different method.
II. Activity. In terms of activity we ask that you post at least three times a week, four if you have an important role. These should not simply be chat posts, and if you are actively communicating but neglecting an rp post we will ask you to try and respond rather than chat. If you are missing without notice for over a week, one of the leaders will send you a notification prompting you to return. If you do not respond to that prompt within a week you will be removed from the rp. If you want to leave the rp, please send us a message and we can discuss what to do with your characters. If you are going on a trip or can't meet the full activity limit for a long period of time, please reach out to one of the leaders and we will put you on hiatus until you can return.
III. Relationships. We ask that you keep all romance in this rp pg. LGBT+ characters will be allowed and any hate and intolerance out of rp will not be tolerated. When joining with characters that are related to another person’s in some way, please make sure to ask them if it is okay first. This is especially important when it comes to mates as no one wants their characters to be thrown into a relationship without being asked first.
IV. Rp Basics. When rping please follow all Forum Regulations and Rules. Please do not power-play or god-mod either.
V. Realism. We ask that you keep all characters realistic. This includes physical appearance things, such as not making cats with purple fur or rainbow eyes, but also to personalities as well. Every cat should have flaws, and the joining form is designed to help you think of some.
VI. Joining. When joining with new characters we have a few guidelines we ask you to follow. First please limit yourself to 2 important roles per clan. These roles include deputies, prophecy kits, medicine cats (and apprentices), and other plot important characters. If you are unsure if a role is important, feel free to ask. This does not apply to advancement in a characters rank, like if a warrior becomes the new deputy. We also ask that when joining when an apprentice or kit that you make a warrior as well to try and make sure there are plenty of mentors and that the clan isn't overrun by kits. Finally please try to keep genders relatively even within the clan.
- clan attributes -
SummitClan cats are known for quite a few traits. Having to survive in the harsh climate of the upper mountains, the majority of cats have very long and dense fur. Their pelts come in a large variety of colors, however, browns, greys, and whites are more common. While there seems to be no real distinguished trend when it comes to tabbies or solid color pelts, more complex colorations like tortoiseshells are rare. SummitClan members also tend to be larger than their RiftClan and GrottoClan counterparts, with massive paws and tough pads for walking on the cold rock.
Cats of SummitClan value honor and cooperation above all else. While originally banished alongside [cat]'s rebels, instead of chasing after revenge, they chose to stay and make their home on the upper half of the mountain- facing off with bitter temperatures and large predators. Because of the danger of their territory, the don't believe that every cats needs to be able to survive on their own. In fact, most of the cats would scoff at the majority of RiftClan traditions. Apprentices aren't allowed to leave camp without a warrior guide, and even warriors are suggested to take a partner with them anytime they wander the territory.
Much like their territory, SummitClan is always changing. With new leadership comes new rules, whether it be about traveling alone, new hunting restrictions, and more. However, variety and change is part of what makes SummitClan so durable to their dangerous territory. They are adaptable, always preparing for the next danger, and never stop improving, whether it be living conditions, hunting skills, or battle strategies.
Because of their origin, SummitClan has a reputation for being cowardly and frivolous among the other clans. However, the cats place a strong value on honor and logic, believing that running away from a battle is equivalent to loosing it. The only acceptable reasoning for retreat is if it puts to many other cats besides oneself at risk of death or serious injury.
SummitClan cats believe that because they are the clan located closest to The Haze that they have the strongest connection to their ancestors and the Eternal Lights. Many of their burial traditions reflect this belief.
When it comes to strangers such as rogue and loners, SummitClan is a bit out of their depth. They rarely ever see travelers in the mountain peaks, and if they did they would be rather suspicious of said cat. However, because of their lack of experience with outsiders, they also wouldn't be openly hostile as they have not yet had a rogue try to actively harm the clan.
- plot - "As treaties break and cliffsides shake, Then all shall know despair. Snow of fire, the mountain’s ire Will reign in poison air.
When mournful cries ring through the skies And all is drenched in cold, There will come those whom Fate has chose; Heroes with blood of Gold.
At nights long end, their light shall rend The misty depths of pain- To bring back life, to end all strife, And raise us once again" Moons ago, the medicine cats of SummitClan, RiftClan, and GrottoClan all received a vague prophecy warning of an upcoming danger and the cats who were destined to save the clans. Cats, not yet born, but told to come from "blood of Gold", or blood of the clan leaders as many speculate. Thus the prophecy kits were believed to be the children of a clan leader. However, this is where the story blurs. Each medicine cat saw a vision of their own clan leader during the prophecy, and no one knows which clan the prophecy kits will be born into. For a long time, the clans sat in anticipation waiting for another sign, or for kits to be born, or for anything to happen. Their answer- a murder.
Ashbird, the SummitClan deputy and mate to the leader, was found dead on the lower mountain border all three clans shared. The motive was clear- to stop possible kits from being born in SummitClan, but the murderer was a mystery. In reaction- Screechlight of SummitClan declared war on both RiftClan and GrottoClan, pledging not to forge a peace treaty until the killer of Ashbird came forward.
When the prophecy kits are born (littersizes around 3 from each clan, kin/children of leaders), they are welcomed into a world of violence and war, and are told from the moment they open their eyes that they are destined for greatness.
The rp will begin just before the murder of Ashbird to establish prewar relations between clans and cats. After the murder we will have a significant timeskip to a few moons in the future after all the kits from the prophecy have been born.
Minor Plots:
- SummitClan's medicine cat is reaching the end of their lifespan, and without a surviving apprentice left to take over after their death the clan has begun to panic. Many believe that maybe a prophecy kit is destined to become the new medicine cat, or that maybe a warrior with a knack for herbs should begin a new chapter of their life and become an apprentice again- this time learning to heal.
- After the recent warrior ceremony of (up to 3 cats), the northern lights were spotted over the night sky. However, instead of showing the greens and blues of a good omen- the majority of color was yellow, red, and pink, signifying danger and harm to the clan. Many believe that one of the new warriors wasn't meant to advance, or that one was evil or harbored a black heart.
- When traveling on the Cliff's Edge a younger warrior slipped and tumbled off the side, falling to their tragic death. However, siblings and close friends of the cat begin to suspect that there was more to their death than mere accident. Their attention lies especially on the cat who was with the warrior that day, and who's story seems to be as vague and mysterious as possible.
- [Begins after timeskip.] After the death of Ashbird, SummitClan and Screechlight were subject to immediate pressure over having prophecy kits. Many believed that the murder of their deputy also meant the loss of any chance of the cats of the prophecy being born in SummitClan. However, Screechlight quickly took a new mate, a relationship formed with the intention of solely having kits- not developing real love or affection. However, the prophecy cats of SummitClan do not come from the leader himself- instead they are born from a sibling of Screechlight (from a younger litter). Screechlight's litter grows up believing that they are indeed the cats of prophecy, when the real ones are treated like any other cat until they receive a vision from the Eternal Lights as apprentices. The Clan must then decide who to believe- the cat's they always thought of as special, or the clanmates they believed were just like them.
claimable cats :: summitclan medicine cat (swiftfrost, Stealthfire ), warriors of the ceremony (sunhawk (Blaze ♡ ), lightningmask (Starchaser ), family & friends of deceased cat, cat who was with deceased cat when they fell, screechlight's new mate (maplestorm, Stealthfire ) , screechlight's sibling (Morningstripe, Aphelyon) & sibling's mate (Poppynose, Blaze ♡ ), screechlight's kits (Shiverkit (ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » ), Pikakit (kiwi cheesecake ), & Shinekit (Aphelyon )), prophecy kits (All claimed).

Screechlight | 43 moons | malesummitclan leadercharismatic & unambitious & cowardlysmall dark grey tabby with wide amber eyesscreechlight was the only kit in his litter, and the first litter of hawklight, the old summitclan leader. because of this, he lived a fairly privileged and sheltered life. while he was average at best in hunting, fighting, and most warrior duties he always had a lazy charm around him. he was given his warrior name, screechsong, early, after defending the border from a RiftClan attack alongside his mentor and fellow apprentices. just like he was an average apprentice, he remained an average warrior, though he received his first apprentice younger than most. when the old deputy retired, his mother was quick to name him her new deputy, a surprise to no one. however, from the moment he was given power it was obvious that screechlight was a much better follower than he was a leader. he relied on many of his close friends and older warriors to come up with plans and schedules. he was, however, good at fixing interclan issues, and his easy charm seemed to keep most of his critics at bay. when his mother lost her last life, screechlight named his close friend, ashbird, as his deputy and the two grew closer as they worked side by side, eventually falling in love and becoming mates. it's obvious to most that it is ashbird, not screechlight who keeps the clan functioning. | old mate was ashbird, current mate is maplestorm, father to shiverkit, shinekit, and pikakit, bisexual | lazy penguin

He's the sort of cat who is always a background character in the Clan going-ons; a good warrior, but not one whose name will go down in history. | open for relationships, especially siblings. In fact, he grew up so often being compared to his brother, never quite being able to live up to what precious Screechsong was doing, that he developed some self-esteem and anxiety issues at a young age. Once they were apprentices, it seemed that he and his sister, Shadepaw, were all but forgotten about by Hawklight. Despite this, Morningstripe and Shadepaw managed to develop a decent relationship with their brother, who offered a little of the reassurance that their mother never did. Of course, it was devastating when Shadepaw was killed by a fox near the end of her apprenticeship, and this is one reason why Morningstripe is so willing to show his affection to those he cares about- almost too much so, many would say. He always had a crush on Poppynose when they were apprentices, and was overjoyed when she finally expressed interest in him as well. Born into SummitClan, Patchpelt has always questioned the existence of the Ancestors and the Haze. She used to believe in them in a younger age, but it slowly dwindled after the death of her little brother, Graypaw. She hasn't seen any signs from her brother and didn't even attend his body being burnt due to her anger towards the Ancestors for letting someone so young die. There are times she may speak out about their traditions, but she isn't afraid to let them know her distaste to their religious beliefs. Now, as a warrior, she's finally starting to learn when she should keep her thoughts to herself. Now, with the war going on, she's a little more open about her dislike for Screechlight again. Screechlight summitclan camp | early morning | starter Screechlight sat in the shadows of the Tall Pine waiting for something terrible to happen. Ashbird assured him that nothing would happen- that the sky last night was just a coincidence. That old nonsense about them being a bad omen doesn't even make sense, she'd said.
And yes, that made sense. Surely lights in the sky were just that- lights like stars. Somehow that explanation wasn't enough to stop his pelt from shaking. He was glad he could blame his shivers on the cold- he wasn't sure if he was ready for the rest of the clan's judgement just yet.
Though he would never challenge his mate's word, he knew deep down inside that the lights were a bad omen. Something terrible was going to happen. Something terrible is going to happen, and I'm not going to do anything to try and prevent it, he admitted.
"The clan will be waking up shortly" he whispered under his breath. "Maybe they'll be more reasonable than my brain."

sunhawk / tags & summitclan camp The ginger tom was settled in his new nest in the warrior den. The nest was in one of the compartments and was placed along on the outside circle, which wasn't surprising. Sunhawk knew that newest warriors tended to sleep on the outside of the group nests. He shifted in his nest, blinking in the dim of the den. He swished his tail and glanced around the sleeping cats. Sunhawk pushed himself to his paws and slipped through the sleeping cats into the ravine. His amber gaze flickered across the tall walls of camp and headed down towards the small stream. He came to stop and couched down to gently lap at the water.
He couldn't help but be excited for coming day, ignoring the pit in his stomach. He hoped Ashbird assigned him to a border patrol... something that involved traveling. He wanted to roam the territory as a new warrior; it was a childish desire that he couldn't help. It didn't help that he wanted to leave camp... since last night, his pelt felt like there was eyes on him all the day.
mooncherry / tags & summitclan camp A yawn escaped from Mooncherry's jaws. The muted calico was lying along the stream. She was content listening to the gentle trickle of the water. She had left the warrior den sometime soon after dawn patrol had left, she muttered words to the cats leaving; wishing them well.
Her amber eyes followed Sunhawk as the new warrior came down to the water. She felt a twinge of pity for him, to go through all of that training just for the lights to be warm. She flickered her tail in greeting to the tom and flashed him a small smile. Nevertheless it had to be an exciting time for him, becoming a new warrior. Mooncherry could remember the thrill and happiness that she felt as she received her name.

Rainsong
SummitClan camp
Rainsong padded out of the warrior den, supressing a yawn. She hadn't slept well and as much as she hated to admit it, she blamed it on the three new warriors. Sharing a den with them made her uneasy after last night. A part of her felt ashamed. She never had a problem with them when they all were apprentices. Some lights in the sky shouldn't change that but they did. Why had Screechlight gone through with the warrior ceremony?
The young warrior walked towards the stream and stopped for a second when she spotted Sunhawk. Rainsong narrowed her eyes. The newly named warrior didn't look concerned at all. Did he not realize what the lights meant? Or how the clan would see him and the others now? Or maybe he did but didn't let it affect him.
Rainsong quickly shook her head and sat down by the stream. She didn't want to discourage the new warriors. And seeing how Mooncherry showed no hostility towards Sunhawk she decided not to show her doubts for now. "Good morning," she meowed with a nod to Mooncherry. Then she glanced at Sunhawk and greeted him too. "Ready for your first day as a warrior?"
WolfpawSummitClan camp
Wolfpaw sat outside the apprentice den and glanced around camp, trying to spot his mentor. He needed some distraction after the strange warrior ceremony last night. Did the lights in the sky really mean that something bad would happen? He wondered how it would affect the clan. And most of all, he felt bad for the new warriors. Why did the lights appear during their ceremony? Wolfpaw thought that it had nothing to do with the three cats. He knew that they had earned their new names. How could anyone think otherwise? No, their ancestors hadn't warned them about those cats. It had to be something else.

Crumblepaw summitclan camp | early morning | Pineclaw Crumblepaw was never the type of cat to enjoy waking up in the morning. It was too cold out of the apprentice den- his bed to warm to leave. But he knew that he'd hear nothing but teasing from his brother if he skipped out on training for the day. Speaking of which, where is Wolfpaw? he wondered aloud. He has a moment of panic when he realized his brother wasn't in his nest, but when he scrambled to his paws, he could see the light pouring in from the mouth of the den. His brother had probably already left. With a small yawn, he left his nest behind, trying to play off his initially panic as him simply waking up. It was not that convincing. He spotted Wolfpaw in camp, and knew that he was aggitated. Did I do something? he wondered, the ceremony from last night still a blur in his tired mind. He considered finding his mentor instead, but he figured he couldn't ignore his brother forever. "Wolfpaw," he called, walking up to the grey cat. "What's wrong?"
mentors and apprentices should be up, not sure how much they'll change so feel free to give suggestions!

Wolfpaw
Wolfpaw was still watching his clanmates when he heard Crumblepaw. "Just missing Sunhawk and the others," he meowed once Crumblepaw had reached him. "It was fun training with them, wasn't it?" It didn't sound convincing but even if it did Wolfpaw knew that his brother wouldn't believe him. And he didn't want to keep secrets from him. Also, he had left the apprentice den without waiting for Crumblepaw, something he rarely did. It wouldn't be fair to not share his thoughts.
So he sighed and said "Well, it's last night's ceremony. I wonder what those lights meant. It's just a coincidence that they appeared when those three got their new names, right?" He glanced at Sunhawk by the stream and then back at Crumblepaw. "It's not fair that some are doubting them. They trained just as hard as anyone."

Crumblepaw summitclan camp | early morning | Pineclaw Crumblepaw had to blink hard when Wolfpaw mentions the Lights after the ceremony. He'd completely forgotten about the scary sky lights and bad omens.
"It was fun training with them," he acknowledged. "But I dunno if we can just chalk it up to coincidence." Maybe that wasn't the most reassuring thing to say, but bad omens shouldn't be overlooked, right?
"I know everyone's assuming that they're bad cats or whatever, but what if the omen meant to tell us that something bad is going to happen to them." He gave his chest a few embarrassed licks, it was hard for him to be open with his thoughts most day, but he knew Wolfpaw wouldn't judge him- at least not aloud. "I dunno, maybe we should be trying to protect them, not turn against them."

For a moment, Wolfpaw just stared at Crumblepaw. His brother had brought up a possibility he had not considered so far. Until now he had only thought about what the lights could mean for the clan itself. That something was going to happen to all of them and that their ancestors had chosen a less than ideal time to warn them. But maybe they had a reason after all. What if Crumblepaw was right?
"I hadn't thought of that," he admited. And he definitely liked Crumblepaw's interpretation better. Not that he wanted anything bad to happen to his former denmates but it was better than them being seen as dangerous to the clan. Wolfpaw allowed himself to smile at Crumblepaw's suggestion. "Yeah, I guess we should. They have enough cats judging them, so looking out for them wouldn't be a bad idea."
Wolfpaw flicked his tail, gesturing towards the stream where Crumblepaw's mentor Mooncherry was. "Well, let's train extra hard for them. I wonder what Mooncherry and Boulderpath are going to make us practice today."

Crumblepaw summitclan camp | early morning | Pineclaw "Yeah..." Crumblepaw replied, unsure if his brother was teasing him, or being serious. That was the problem with Wolfpaw- you could never be sure whether to take his word at face value, or if he was just making a joke. And identifying sarcasm had never been Crumblepaw's forte.
Nevertheless, he felt his mood brighten at the mention of training. He hoped they would practice battle moves today. The world was confusing- but fighting, fighting made sense to Crumblepaw. "I dunno." He replied, attempting to appear nonchalant, though the little bounces he was doing with his feet immediately betrayed him. "I hope we get to practice with one of the older apprentices though."
Rootpaw was 3 moons older than the brothers, and even Bumblepaw was a moon ahead of them. It always felt like more of a challenge to face off against them, then Wolfpaw or even Mooncherry. Plus, they had learned some fun tricks that his mentor couldn't teach him.
"Knowing our luck, we'll probably get stuck on another boring hunting patrol."

Wolfpaw
SummitClan camp
Wolfpaw purred at Crumblepaw's obvious excitement at the prospect of battle practice. "Yeah, same battle practice would be great." No one could deny that Crumblepaw had the potential to become a formidable warrior, despite how slow and dense he could be. Not that anyone could get away with saying the latter about him. Wolfpaw had made sure his clanmates knew that no one but him could make any remarks about Crumblepaw's intelligence. Practicing with the older apprentices did sound like fun. The stronger and more experienced the opponent the more he could learn. Not that he didn't enjoy practising with his brother, he had a lot of fun competing with him. But the older apprentices knew more battle moves.
At the mention of hunting Wolfpaw rolled his eyes with a good-natured smile. "Oh yes, that boring, awful prey just doesn't know how to fight back," he teased. He didn't mind hunting but some of the prey wasn't easy. Not being able to scent it made it much harder but it made a successful hunt so much more rewarding for him. As for eating the prey, Wolfpaw never had the best appetite. He ate because it was necessary and didn't really get why his clanmates enjoyed their freshkill so much.
"Well, let's hope our mentors give us something challenging. We are going to be the best warriors, after all."

i added some thoughts to my starters cx i love mooncherry so much xD
sunhawk & mooncherry / rainsong [ Pineclaw ] & summitclan camp Focused up lapping the cool water, Sunhawk didn't notice the other warrior's descend down to the stream. He jumped slightly. His fur fluffing along his shoulders before relaxing. Its just Rainsong, he thought, recognizing his old denmate immediately. She had just become a warrior last moon... under better lights then he did. He couldn't help but slightly put-off by that. He did everything right while the other feline got held behind disrespect.
The ginger tom cracked a small smile, "Yes," he meowed with a soft purr and bright eyes. Sunhawk needed to remember to stay positive... it seemed like Rainsong and Mooncherry weren't going to treat him differently, he could do this. He tried not to remember the blank or haunted faces from the ceremony. "I hope Ashbird assigns the patrols soon," Sunhawk mused. He took a small step back from the stream to settle on his haunches.
"He is going to knock them dead," Mooncherry smirked with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. In a sense, she found the whole situation hilarious, nor did she put too much weight into omens. She watched the newest warriors grow up and train; she didn't see the need for social distance that she noticed some of their clanmates had started doing. Also didn't help that she once watched Sunhawk slide down a hill into a thorn bush, the baby warrior was harmless in her eyes.
Sunhawk shot her a bewildered look at her choice of words. He wasn't going to be doing any knocking or death, thank you very much. He just wanted to go on a patrol and make his clan proud.

Skyrunner / Camp / Open
A black and white cat pushed himself out of one of the Warrior dens. His pale eyes swept across the clearing before making his way down to the stream in the center of the camp. Once he got to the water, he arched his back into a stretch and yawned widely. Skyrunner didn't feel rested like usual ever since the warrior ceremony that ended with shock and disbelief. He remembered the lights above their heads revealing yellow and pink colors instead of the normal blues. SummitClan believed the warmer colors was a bad omen and everyone is questioning what it meant for the newly named warriors in their clan. He shook his head to clear his thoughts before leaning down and taking a drink from the cold water.
Mosspaw / Camp / Open
Mosspaw shifted her paws uneasily near the apprentice den. Never in her life, which was a short period of time, she'd think a warrior ceremony would be deemed something bad. At least that's what they believed due to the Northern Lights showing the warm colors in the night sky. She felt concerned that she might have the same sign at her ceremony, but kept telling herself that's a few moons away. She will just have to work hard and not make any mistakes.
