Berrystorm limped into camp with a squirrel hanging from his jaws and most of his left foreleg matted with half-congealed blood from a notable gash on his upper shoulder. The wound was not deep or severe, and had already mostly stopped bleeding; it was mostly just some torn skin and fur, but enough to look quite ugly and sting quite a lot. This the white tom was not shy about expressing, groaning as he hopped gingerly over to the fresh-kill pile to deposit his catch. Able to take some weight off his leg now that he had dropped his burden, he lifted his paw and rolled his shoulder slightly to test it, letting out a hiss of pain as the torn and raw skin stretched. He glanced uncertainly down the ravine towards the medicine den, then back at his injured shoulder, judging whether it was worth bothering Swiftfrost with. He chanced a lick at the bloody fur and let out another sharp hiss. Relenting with a sigh, limped over to the den and poked his head inside. "Swiftfrost?"

Skyrunner / Camp / Ashbird lazy penguin, Rootpaw Stealthfire, and Bumblepaw ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ »"The chance I'll allow you to lead me through the clan are very slim." Skyrunner had overheard the conversation between Ashbird and the two apprentices. The mottled tom didn't believe it was a good idea to let apprentices, no matter how old or experienced, should lead anything until they actually received their warrior names. SummitClan relief on groups of cats to get through the territory due to the dangerous terrain they lived in and he wasn't going to let anyone get hurt by mouse brain mistake. "I'm sure Ashbird has a plan already, hm?" He asked to his fellow clan mate before waving his tail to gesture Bumblepaw to stand beside him.

Swiftfrost / Berrystorm Aphelyon : Medicine Cat Den Swiftfrost's dark ears perked at the sound of hissing and groaning far before he heard his name inevitably called. Thank the Eternal Lights, the old tom's senses had remained in prime condition into his late moons All he ever needed to worry about was aching joints, curable by his own herbs, and young warriors, curable by stern wisdom. "Yes, come in, let's see how bad it is," he rasped, clearing his throat. He blinked blue eyes at the light coming in through the entrance of the den. A bright white pelt blinded his pale gaze. "Berrystorm, your fur makes all that blood look quite serious. It's a wonder you could walk to my den. What happened?"

Important Timeskip Announcement!!! Alright so me and the other moderators have been trying to figure out a time for Ashbird's death and the timeskip that follows and we've come up with 2 possible dates.
Monday, April 13th
Or
Friday, April 17th We had originally planned it to happen on Monday, but I wanted to make sure everyone had time to finish up meaningful interactions and such. It's not too important if you can't be active the day/night of the timeskip, but rather that you think you have enough time to be active before the skip. I'm going to post a poll on this thread with the 2 dates, and the other leaders might do so as well. If they do, please only vote in one of the polls as we'll just add the votes together.
That being said the timeskip is going to be for 3 moons, which isn't a big deal for most cats, but does effect apprentices a bit. Rootpaw would be 14 moons old and thus a newly made warrior unless she was held back a moon (which could be reasonable since her mentor died), Coldpaw would be 13 moons which I have as my "age apprentices become warriors" so he could be a warrior or he could be very close to becoming a warrior. Bumblepaw would have a moon of training left, and then the others would still have a few months. If you wanted to age down an apprentice because of this, just let me know. Since age hasn't played much a role in the rp it wouldn't be a big deal.
We still need to work out ages of the prophecy kits and assumed prophecy kits, though I think the assumed prophecy kits would be very recently born considering the plot.
For everyone else, the war would have been going on for 3 moons so still fairly recent. Feel free to think about how it would change your cat's outlook on the clan/clans and don't be afraid to fly ideas past me or another mod if you have a unique idea!

[ Hmm. I feel like going to the 17th would be better, especially since Grotto & Rift opened later than Summit did. ]

Maplestorm noticed another warrior approaching from behind her and swiped her half eaten lemming to the side, hoping no one imposing would take it as an invitation to share. It was only Cavegrowl, who flung a small squirrel to its addings. He wasn't moving like himself, and whether or not it was an injury or her imagination, it would be worth a reaction. Looking for entertainment of any sort, Maplestorm purred, "Is that a bit of a limp, Cavegrowl? Did that mite give you a hard time?" Her dark muzzle curled in a dim smile, taking a large bite of lemming to hide her smirk and waiting for the tom's retaliation. Cavegrowl Camp || Maplestorm "No!" Cavegrowl hissed in retaliation towards Maplestorm. The female must of caught notice of the tom stiff walk and decide to take a jab at him. Curling up his lip at her in a warning to back off, Cavegrowl was not in the mood to deal with the fiery shecat. "It would take a lot more that a squirrel to give me a hard time", he meowed trying to act as normal as possible. Clentching his jaw the tom put more weight on his sprained paw, trying to prove that he was just fine. However the grey warrior was unable to hold his position and decided to drop back on his haunches to take some weight off his wounded front paw.

What happened?" Berrystorm instinctively bent his head to lick his chest with embarrassment at Swiftfrost's comment, but the motion caused him to wince slightly. "It looks worse than it is, probably," he replied, slightly laying his ears back sheepishly instead. "It's just a scrape... I skidded on my shoulder... falling out of a tree...." He muttered the last bit a bit quieter, averting his gaze as he limped over to let the medicine cat take a look. He hadn't thought about the fact that his pale fur no doubt made the blood that much more visible- obviously, he hadn't been able to actually look at himself- and he thought with both amusement and concern about what his other Clanmates must have thought as he passed through camp. No one had made any comment, as he had gone rather quickly, but even so he hoped he hadn't worried anyone.

Trotting along behind his sister, Sunhawk didn't spare a glance back behind them. Like mentioned before, he did not enjoy the piercing gaze of their clanmates. His amber gaze flickered around the tall peaks above them. He wondered if his sister meant to lead him up into the Upper Mountain or down into the forest. Either location should have good hunting during this season. Yet it seemed like Lightningmask wanted to hunt in the forest today.
He waited until they were safe distance from camp and peeking eyes. "I don't know why you would say something like that," he teased back with gleaming eyes, "Plenty of cats love me." Not that was necessarily true anymore with the dark northern lights, Sunhawk would have to work on earning their respect back. He let out a low chuckle as his gaze flickered around the territory. The birds were chirping. It made the ginger tom's mouth water. "I feel like we are going to have a good hunt," he mused absently before his gaze flickered back to Lightningmask.

Ashbird Ashbird didn't miss her apprentice's eye roll, and let out a soft sigh. She supposed she would have been slightly offended too- being forced to train with someone younger. But the deputy knew that her apprentice was a skilled fighter, and while she hoped Rootpaw would still learn something about battle- the session was more designed around building up her leadership and cooperation skills.
She was glad Bumblepaw seemed excited. He was nice- though a tad of a kiss-up if you asked her- and he was technically her nephew. In a weird round about way. She was about to reply, when she was interrupted by Skyrunner. Word must have traveled quick.
"Oh lighten up," she replied with a smile. "We can't just feed our young cats orders and then expect them to be able to think for themselves as warriors." While she liked Skyrunner enough as a cat- he certainly seemed to be a buzzkill when it came to training. Maybe her more relaxed methods were why Rootpaw still had her wild side- but the last thing she wanted was to ruin the fun of becoming a SummitClan warrior. "If they lead us to a cliff- we can stop them before they walk off."
"I was planning on heading to the banks of the Frozen River, though," she spoke up, straightening her spine. "The ground is softer there, so Rootpaw and Bumblepaw are less likely to be hurt if they get slammed to the ground."

Screechlight Screechlight let out a sigh as his medicine cat walk away. Well that couldn't have gone worse, he thought to himself. Shaking his head, he looked around for a quick distraction- anything to keep his mind off the bad omen.
The ancestors must have heard his prayers because right in the center of camp was a grumpy Cavegrowl and an amused Maplestorm. He listened in for a bit, trying to keep a smile off his face. It seemed Maplestorm knew exactly what to say to rile up the tom.
"Well if something bigger and scarier then that squirrel did make you hurt your paw, you might want to get it checked out," he called, emerging from the shadows under Tall Pine. He waved his tail in greetings to the two warriors. "The last thing we need are injured warriors."

Crumblepaw summitclan camp | early morning | Blaze ♡ "Works for me!" Crumblepaw replied, bouncing on his paws. He was more thrilled by the idea of climbing practice than tracking, however. He and Wolfpaw were often paired together for training, and well- practicing tracking wasn't really something they could both do. Because of this, it was hard to argue that Crumblepaw didn't need the practice.
"I'm ready to go, was there anything you needed to get out of the way?" he asked his mentor. Sometimes she would speak to other warriors, or eat a quick meal before they left and Crumblepaw would have to sit in the middle of camp feeling awkward and weird. But he couldn't really blame Mooncherry for that- so instead he just hoped she was a ready to get out into the forest as he was.

Blizzardtuft summitclan camp | early morning | @stitchlover20 , Starchaser
Blizzardtuft felt her nose wrinkle as the younger warrior teased her. "I mean, I felt like I lasted a while. My heart was beating so fast when I left I felt like I was going to die," she felt the fur on the back of her spine rise at the just memory. Sure she might have only spent a couple minutes there by herself- but those five minutes had felt like hours back then.
She was going to continue when her apprentice spoke up. Oooo, Mosspaw getting a temper- am I allowed to like it? she thought to herself as her pelt heated.
"Of course we'll actually be hunting and learning, Mosspaw," she replied, trying to keep her voice even and as 'mentor-like' as she could muster. "And if we have a good hunt- we can reward ourselves with an afternoon lounge. Sunshine is important!" She nodded as Stormchaser took the lead and headed out of camp and into SummitClan territory.

Bearheart xx Starchaser Bearheart had gone out early to hunt that day, padding his way among the upper territory surrounding the Silver Falls. He had already caught one squirrel, and decided to head back towards camp. He had definitely not fallen asleep on a big rock. Nope. Been hunting the whole time. Don't tell Ashbird.
Squirrel in jaws, Bearheart padded his way back into camp, depositing his small catch onto the fresh-kill pile with a warm smile. Being in camp wasn't so bad. Oh- maybe Coldpaw was awake? Training would be nice! Maybe they could go out and practice hunting? Ooh, climbing would be fun today too. The weather was perfect for it.
Hopefully Ashbird hadn't assigned him to any patrols. Although he was sure he would hear about it if he didn't show up to one. Maybe Screechlight could soften the blow for him. He liked to think they were friends.
Breaking his way into the apprentice's den, Bearheart surveyed the den for his apprentice. "Ah, Coldpaw!" he bellowed, hopping his way over to the tom's nest. "Wake up! We gotta go training today, kid!"

Timeskip Announcement Part 2
So it looks like the timeskip will occur Friday, April 17th rather than today. That gives everyone the rest of the week to finish up important interactions or anything they wanted to get out of the way before the war begins. I'm not going to assign new patrols, until after the timeskip because I want people to have time to do whatever the wanted/envisioned, but feel free to complete ones from last week if you didn't finish them, and have no other ideas for that character!
Because of this extra time, I'm prewriting the timeskip post and that leads itself to having a few unique spots. For example I know that two warriors (and maybe an apprentice, if it makes sense) are the first ones to find ashbird's body. I also know that one of the first battle patrols to attack RiftClan territory is quickly overwhelmed and pushed back. Any number of cats could be a part of this patrol- and retreat is believed to be a serious loss and offense against the clan itself. If you had any ideas for events that would happen in the timeskip to your cats/characters, let me know and I can find a way to weave it into the post as flavor text.
So yeah, I'll keep you guys updated if anything changes- but feel free to ask me any questions or concerns you had!

[ I know Sun & Lightning is a mini-plot. Does the part of the clan blame them in a way for Ashbird dying? or does the clan still have doubts about one of them being secretly evil? Or does bad omen stuff gets overshadowed by ashbird death and everyone is kinda like "we will deal with it later, gotta find the murderer"... ]

|
Post by lazy penguin on Apr 13, 2020 10:44:34 GMT -5
uh in short- yes. i do think some cats would negatively correlate the sign at their ceremony to ashbird's death and thus partially blame them for it. i also think others might see the murder and the sign as separate omens, and thus might still think one or both of them are evil. alternatively- i was debating have sun and lightning being the two who found ashbird's body as some of their clanmates might even suspect them of killing her because of the omen, but i wanted to fly that by you and star fist. ))

[ my questions were a bit rambly xD so it would depend on a cat's per. I like the idea that some believe omens are connected while others are different. oh! that would be neat if they found ashbird.

Cavegrowl Camp || Maplestorm Stealthfire Screechlight lazy penguin The toms fiery amber gaze went from glaring at Maplestorm to glaring at Screechlight. Cavegrowls pride would not allow him to back down from this little fiasco, and his fluffy tail lashed back and forth. "I said I am fine", he growl through clenched teeth. He knew better than to start something with Screechlight, and for once the leader managed to say something leader like. "Why cant you just mind your own business", Cavegrowl hiss under his breath the Maplestorm as he start to try and make an exit. All the tom wanted now was some peace and quiet away from nosy shecats.

No no, you're fine! Because I don't want to dawdle in one clan the events about her death and the discovery of her body will be described in the timeskip post which is essentially a 'what has happened to get us to where we currently are' post. If you had questions about like the scene of the crime or state of the body or any of that detective type things, feel free to ask them and I'll either weave them into the post or just tell you outright. As for the reaction of the clan, we can always reflect back on it in rp posts, and some cats who were closer to her, still might be grieving. It has only been 3 months. Hopefully that makes sense?)

Mosspaw / Leaving Camp / Blizzardtuft lazy penguin and Stormchaser Starchaser
Mosspaw felt her fur spike a little on her back by Stormchaser's response and frowned as she slowly followed behind the two warriors. "Don't you mean to make goggly eyes at each other?" She muttered under her breath as Blizzardtuft confirmed they'll be doing some training as well as relaxing right afterwards. Her paws seem to have been filled with stones as she dragged them after them, making sure not to fall too far behind. The excitement to train had been blown away right away once Stormchaser joined them and she wished she could be in camp with other apprentices than be with them. The whole time might be filled with them teasing each other and it made her feel sick to even imagine it. I don't know what's the big deal about love, she thought crossly. I won't ever fall in love! I'm going to dedicate my life making sure all my clan mates are safe, not just one.

Blizzardtuft summitclan territory | early morning | @stitchlover20 , Starchaser
Blizzardtuft's whisker's twitched at her apprentice's annoyance. Sure maybe she had been giving Stormchaser a tad more attention, but it was only natural to be light-hearted around friends.
Still, Mosspaw was her responsibility, and if that meant dialing her enthusiasm back, she would do it. She kept her mouth shut as they started on the trail, trying to think of fun training exercises she could run with her apprentices once they reached the Stones.
"Say Mosspaw," she started, letting her voice carry down the narrow path. "We can start practicing now- tell me what you can scent."
