Alex chirped, this time a few frequencies lower than normal. Bats' echolocation was barely audible for vampires (and even then only if they concentrated), so he figured it would be a easier for Lilah to hear. He tried to rearrange himself in the bag, not wanting to create a huge mess. That would not be very kind, would it? He was beginning to feel much warmer, his wingtips regaining some lost feeling and his wings stopping their previously restless quaking. Alex turned to look at the sky. The stars seemed so beautiful, so peaceful. It reminded him of in the grasslands, during the Solstice Festival. Every year during the winter solstice, every vampire coven went to the grasslands to celebrate the night. They would sing the old songs and retell ancient legends, all in complete darkness. It was peaceful, calm. Not unlike this nighttime flight.
Alex rolled back over, placing his chin on a (relative to him) massive scale. He did not know how long it would take for them to arrive at the Gather, but he was happy up here. It was a beautiful night. He hoped they would all be like this, but that is doubtful.

Zephyr did not notice the cold, and despite the pace he flew at, his breaths never faltered. In this form, flying was as natural as breathing. The extra weight on his back didn't even slow him down much. The biggest difference between flying with passengers vs without was the slight adjustments to his flight every once in a while. Anytime one of the girls moved or shifted, Zephyr had to readjust to accommodate it. It wasn't much of a bother, though. He just let his instincts take over, no thought required.
Instead, his thoughts drifted. He was curious about what awaited them once they arrived at the Gather. He was eager for the adventure to begin, and he was already dreading having to wait for everyone to arrive. While it was true five of them were already gathered, that still left three more unaccounted for. If they were lucky, they would already be at the Gather. If they weren't... who knew how long it would take for the others to arrive? Zephyr wasn't sure he had the patience to wait around for more than a day or so.

//lol nah you good, I feel like I should have added in more info on the world AND YES MOSS XD
Once Christina finally calmed down she let out a sigh of relief, so, this is what it's like to have the freedom of flight, I sure wish I had this. She didn't mind the cold, the mountains she lived in where much colder during the winter and she quite enjoyed it, most compared reapers to rats, they loved cold, dark places. She closed her eyes a bit and held out her arms slowly, feeling the breeze against herself, imagining it was herself flying, and having a bit of a moment. The Christina realized what she was doing probably looked stupid and she put her arms against herself again and opened her eyes, watching the city grow closer. Looking down, she admired Zephyr's shining scales, his dragon form was beautiful.

Okay, so I've been doing a bit of research on flying (cause I'm a knowledge geek that way), to try and get a rough estimate of how fast Zephyr can fly as a dragon. By my best guess, 300 miles an hour would be his very fastest, but that's only without riders. With them, accounting for drag and the fact that they wouldn't be able to stay on if he was flying super fast, I'd say he's currently clocking about 100-200mp/h. So, still pretty darn fast.
Regardless, if Fylaria is as large as Asia, it would take 3 or 4 hours to fly to the Gather — IF we're being realistic. But since this is a fantasy world, "realistic" isn't really necessary, yeah? ;)

....
"Ah..." Veive stands atop one of the taller buildings in the small city, hands on narrow hips while a mild pout bows his coral lips. "Ah. Hm." The full moon- which is truly magnificent, but not quite enough to hold his attention- limns his figure in silver as he stares down at the city below, watching the people carry on with their night as if any uniqueness they had would be visible from this height. It isn't. His eyesight isn't quite up to par- but at least he can get a better view of the majority of the city from here. Not that it particularly helps...but being on the ground wouldn't really help either. He hums a bit more, playing with the chain of one of his earrings while he attempts to go through his earlier conversations with Kirce.
Meet...at the Gather. But where? How? Is there an exclusive club to flash his crystal in? No one told him- or had they? Kirce was pouting while he spoke and it likely distracted Veive from any useful information he might have shared- "Wait." He holds up a hand as if to cut off that train of thought. "Wait there is...I'm sure there's something...we're supposed to do?" He frowns down at the city once more. The Gather is 'small' by normal standards, but it's still a lot of ground to cover to find seven specific people. They could've at least drawn him pictures- or sent it or something. Right?
Veive pats around his coat until he can locate his phone and checks through all of his messages. Nothing new- besides the 'bring out yer dead' Gif from one of Monty Python's movies that Kirce has recently sent him. Kirce always assumes he'd die as soon as he leaves his sight so this isn't unusual. Veive sends him an answering gif of, 'how about not yet' and then nearly drops his phone when a thought almost literally strikes him. "Oh!" He fumbles for it and returns it to his pocket only to withdraw his crystal. The color's a bit faded without natural light, so he holds it up to the moon and squints. Then tilts his head. If this were a movie...wouldn't the crystal be glowing to let him know whether or not the other crystal-holders were here? Like a game of Hot n' Cold! Or something...that'd certainly be convenient.
Alas, nothing. "Well, it was worth a shot..." The lack of response only piques his interest further. What purpose could the crystals serve other than being identifiers? And where did they come from- it couldn't have come out of his mother, right? Ah, that's a disturbing thought. "Onward!" Veive stomps his boot and nearly slips off the rain-slick roof, but he manages to clear the sky of clouds again, at least. He kind of wants to set the tone, a bit. Make it a truly beautiful night when he meets his future allies and friends. That'd make a good first impression, right? Ah, well. He has to find them first!
Time to make some calls, then. Veive withdraws his phone- carefully this time, he can't break another- and scrolls through his vast list of contacts as he steps off the roof. A crack of thunder heralds his displacement from the roof to the sidewalk below, and he apologetically bows to a few startled pedestrians before raising his phone to his ear. "Annyeong Raes~ Would you mind doing me a favor?"
"Byun!? How did you get this number?!"

Zephyr felt it when Lilah almost slid off his back. He checked his flight, shifting so he remained under her, and turned his head so he could see his passengers. He did not see Alex at first, but then he noticed the protective way Lilah was holding her satchel. He spotted Alex's little bat's head a heartbeat later. Lilah and Christina looked content, which was good, but he also noticed how Lilah was wrapped in her cloak. At first he didn't understand why. Then he remembered: she wasn't a dragon.
Zephyr had a core of fire within his dragon self, an internal flame that kept him warm at all times. Even in his human form, Zephyr ran at a temperature that was higher than most other monsters. The only monster who may have run hotter was the demon. He could not control that heat in his human form, but in this one he could.
A low rumble went through him, and then his scales began to grow warm. Not enough to be alarming, but it should do wonders for warming his passengers. And when he let out a snort, smoke curled from his nostrils and blew away on the wind.

Below the Angel, Zephyr had quickly gotten ahead. It was no surprise to her, he had transformed into a dragon after all. Even if she was one of the swiftest fliers out there, she couldn't keep up with such a creature. For a moment she considered getting behind him and using the wind as means to help herself. She stayed where she was at. She wasn't tired yet and could move her position when she got to that point. For the time being she was more useful to watch them all from above. As they continued their flight, Avani let her mind wander. She wondered what exactly would be waiting for them at the Gather. She had never been there herself and didn't know what to expect. Would there be people there to greet them? Would they have supplies and rooms to use? Or maybe there would be a whole lot of nothing except for them? Avani slightly frowned. I should've packed better. There was nothing she could do about it now. She would just have to hope there would be towns nearby to collect some supplies if they needed them.
Avani shifted her gaze below again. Perhaps one of the others would know what to expect. She wanted to ask them questions and find out how much they knew. Of course that would be impossible during flight. She could only imagine what it would be like for them. Angels spent much of their time in the air. They had developed various ways to keep their bodies safe from the effects of flight. As far as she knew, the others weren't so lucky. Besides any helpful information she could use, Avani wanted to get to know her companions better. Not only was it due to spending most of the day in silence, but it seemed important that they started building trust within the group. If they couldn't work together, then what would that mean for the fate of Fylaria or even the prophecy? Avani sighed. She would have to worry about that if things didn't go well. It was too early to tell whether or not things would be good between them.
Instead of focusing on the potential negatives, Avani instead thought of the adventure of it all. She'd never strayed farm from home before. Now she was heading to a place that as far as she knew was neutral territory. Before she rarely had gotten a possiblity to interact with people other than Angels. Now she would get the chance to learn about the other people of Fylaria from them instead of biased tales from the elders or literature that was outdated. It would also be a perfect opportunity to make new friends. Sure she had a few friends, but gaining seven new ones was exciting for the young woman.

//i vote yes and same to you moss;; also for the crystals I was thinking they make a either a map or a portal, what do you guys think?
Christina felt a weird sensation and then a sudden burst of warmth, which she thought was rather strange. She looked around in the sky, wondering where Avani was, maybe she beat us there? I'm honestly not sure how fast we're going right now. Christina laid back against the scales, the initial shock starting to wear off as she started to grow bored. The light from the stars created faint shadows of the two on Zephyr's back and she started to flicker her fingers a bit and play with them, giving her some mild entertainment. I hope we get there soon, I'm getting hungry. On her last trip to the Gather, she came with a lot of her cousins and they went out to eat at a very fancy restaurant for some family member's birthday. Christina remembered having this molten chocolate lava cake, it had vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge drizzled over, she could almost taste it melting in her mouth, so sweet. She started to drool a bit just thinking about it, then quickly snapped herself out of her thoughts as she saw the city lights getting brighter.

[[ Also, I like the ideas of the crystals being a key or something along those lines. Or something to amplify their powers? Idk. ]]
Alex chittered in alarm went he felt movement next to him. He turned, horrified to see Lilah slipping. Immediately he scrambled out of the satchel, his little wings and back claws clattering to grasp onto Zephyr's scales. He was able to dig a tiny bit in, pulling himself out. He could feel his form expanding, an unfurling into his natural form. Once Lilah had levered herself out again, Alex allowed himself to shrink back down. He hoped his almost-shapeshift did not throw Zephyr off much, and he was glad for the warming scales beneath his tiny fur body. Pressing himself against the massive scales, Alex crawled back beneath Lilah's cloak. Oodly enough, he was not concerned about what they would think about it. That felt amazing.
He desperately wanted to shift back, but that was probably not a wise idea. Alex hated his lack of control over the situation; he wanted to be in control, to be able to dictate where they went. He trusted Zephyr, oddly enough, but somehow he could not stand not having solid ground beneath his feet to, well, stand. Strange, Alex had never realized how much he needed to control a situation.
Bat-Alex rolled over and stared up at the sky. He wished he could identify constellations, but he had never bothered to learn them. His little sister loved constellations, omens, all of that. Strange how he was chosen to go on this prophecy and not her. Alex's mouth opened wide, tiny little fangs glinting against the starlight. Well, even if he could not identify any of the stars, he could still appreciate them. They were beautiful.

When the city within the Gather appeared across the horizon, Zephyr let out a roar, the sound a heads-up and the dragon equivalent of a "Woo hoo!" His wings beat harder at the air, their imminent arrival giving him a burst of energy and speed. It only lasted a few minutes, thanks to his passengers, but he managed to cover half of the remaining distance with it.
As he began slowing down, Zephyr also began a slow descent. Had he been on his own, he would have just dove right for the ground. But such a maneuver would have sent his passengers flying off his back. So, slow it went, until finally he reached the ground. His wings swept back in a powerful backdraft, and then his back feet, followed by his front feet, touched down with gentle booms.
Zephyr tucked his wings in tight to his sides and lowered himself onto his belly. He positioned one front leg to give them a makeshift step ladder, and angled his head so he could supervise their descent from his back.

Christina attempted to hold on, but to her surprise, the descent was rather calm and Zephyr made it feel effortless. Once they reached the ground, she let out a sigh of relief, flying is nice, but I think I'll stick to walking for now. She tried her best to climb down his leg, hoping she didn't step on anything important. About halfway down she lost her footing a bit and made an attempt to jump down from where she was and landed on her butt. She stood up slowly, seeming fine as she turned her back towards the dragon and looked to the city. The tall buildings, the rustling of people, food carts on the corners selling snacks or t-shirts, she took it all in for the first time in a long one. Man I didn't realize how much I missed this place, and how much it reminds me off home. The shimmering stars reflected beautifully against the glass of the skyscrapers and lit up Christina's eyes. Then the thought came to her, how were they supposed to find the others in the big place? Well, if five out of eight of us have randomly been able to run in to each other so far, who's to say that won't keep happening?

Alex slid a bit around as Zephyr landed, his tiny claws digging into the massive scales so he would not slide off. Even slight shifts seemed to throw his tiny body around, an experience Alex would prefer to avoid later on. Once Zephyr had landed, Alex let out a tiny, shaky breath. It rattled his wings a bit, the tremor causing them to flap haphazardly. As useful as being a bat could be, his small size was frustrating. Vulnerable. Vampires were not vulnerable. At least they were not supposed to be.
Stretching his wings out through the tremors, Alex clamored up into a half-seating position. He leaned down onto his wings and launched off his feet, jumping into the air and wildly flapping his wings to take flight. He was oddly excited to fly to the ground, suddenly excited by being a bit. Admittedly Alex had little experience flying; the motion felt natural but unpracticed. He wobbled on the launch and wobbled more in the air, the slightest of breezes ruining his intended path. The air would lift one wing, lower the other, and Alex would be blown off course. After about a minute of embarrassing struggles, Alex gave up, wrapped himself in his wings, and tumbled to the ground. Mid-tumble he changed back, and solid feet landed on the ground.
"Are we heading anywhere in particular?" he asked back to the group. He just wanted to run to the city, but obviously it would be rude to completely abandon the others. He had no idea if any of them knew the city or had any connections there. Quite frankly, Alex had absolutely no idea what they were going to do. He wanted to ask if anyone had any specific idea of "the plan," but that would probably come across as rude, uninformed, any matter of embarrassing things.

Hours had passed maybe. Avani couldn't be sure, she wasn't exactly keeping track of time during their flight. The trip had been rather uneventful. Almost too uneventful for her liking. There was little to offer in terms of scenery and they hadn't come across anyone else much to her disappointment. Then there was the lack of conversation between the people already there. Of course they could only say so much in flight, the wind would've been too loud to really exchange more than a few words. As the trip continued, something over the horizon caught Avani's eyes. In the distance there was light. A bunch of lights illuminating a city that lied ahead. Zephyr, who was already ahead of her, let out a might roar. He gave a few strong beats of his wings and got further ahead towards the Gather. The Angel wasn't too concerned with catching up. She was currently mesmerized by the city ahead.
Soon enough the Shapeshifter had safely landed below and everyone began to get off. Avani managed to catch up with the group before continuing her flight ahead to get a better look at the city. It was nothing like she had seen before. Towering skyscrapers appeared to almost touch the clouds above. Bright lights casted their glow on every street and building around, illuminating the way for its residents. Then there was the people. There were so many people. Even at night the streets were busy with countless faces traveling through the Gather. Avani had never expieremced anything like it before. Angels had grand, towering buildings of their and their towns were always well-lit due ti their magic. Unlike the moder-looking skyscrapers, they were ancient and ornate works of stone well-weathered and used. There were also far less people. Angels tended to live in settlements with only a couple hundred people within each one. It made for a close-knit community where everyone knew everyone. In the Gather, it seemed impossible to have that kind of relationship with people. Lastly, everything looked cramped. Despite the city being rather large and sprawling, everything was almost packed together. Due to the large wingspan of the Angels, everything was spread out far enough to avoid accidents. The lack of space would be something else to get used to.
As the shock of the sheer difference began to wear off, Avani flared her wings out in excitment, a gentle woomp following the motion. The Gather was so new, so different from her home. There would be new things to discover and she could learn about the lives of others. It was all so exciting. Avani's attention was finally pulled away from the city as Alex spoke up. Right, where were they suposed to go? They had arrived at the Gather, but she was clueless when it came to knowing where to go. The Angel turned to face the others.
"I have no clue, unfortunately. Does anyone know or do we have to ask around? I mean someone must know something." She paused for a moment and scratched her chin. They needed a plan. "We need a plan. We need to figure out where we need to go and what we need to do before we head in. Does anyone have any ideas?" There was silence for a moment before Lilah spoke up. Avani turned her attention to the wizard and smiled. She nodded along as the girl proposed an idea.
"That's a good start. Splitting up isn't a bad idea, as you said we'll cover more ground that way. Maybe we should go in two groups. Three of us try and find something one way and the other two go another. I mean I'm sure we don't want to split off entierly, right?"

//go right ahead!
"Yeah I'm down to split up, who's going with who," Christina replied trying to take the leadership off of herself, "Maybe the other three will find us? I mean, we managed to get this far and somehow find more than half of each other, so maybe they'll just find us?" She offered, trying to see what the rest of the group thought. It was a bit strange that they all coincidentally found each other in the middle of the woods. Christina also wasn't sure where they would go to meet up or didn't know who they could pull over and ask directions, and she wanted to find a way to get them to explore more and possibly stop for food.

[[ Also joined in with the worldbuilding, hope you don't mind! ]]
"It's fine," Alex commented to Lilah. "I really don't mind. Even if you did drop me, I could have flown back. I'm just happy you did not fall." Alex rolled his shoulders back again, only then recognizing that he probably should have responded to her comments about the night sky. But tht would certainly be too awkward, wouldn't it, to suddenly add something on like that? Probably, best to not say anything. But then would he just be being rude? Stop it Alex, the vampire scolded himself. It's fine.
Alex stared at the city, trying to orient himself with the area. He had always come to the Gather through the Old District. It was completely out of view from here, so surely they must be on the opposite side of the city. The Old District was aptly (and boringly) named for its architecture. It retained an ancient building style, which Alex could only best describe as a medieval fantasy architecture. It was full of curved woods, gas lamps, all manner of outdated thing. Of course, the gas lamps were fake and most buildings were equipped with modern luxuries like WiFi and flushable toilets. It, like the Spire, was largely a tourist trap. It was also where vampires tended to hang out. The general drama of the Old District was fantastic. It also housed Alex's coven's vacation home, which in turn housed the luxury car collection.
As Zephyr spoke, Alex kept his gaze trained on the city. It was beautiful, how could anyone look away from it? "Maybe some could go to the Town Hall, some could search the city?"
