She watched as Zephyr stood near them, a marvelous looking dragon, his scales still shining brightly in the pale light, it was very intriguing to watch. Christina paused mid bite as she saw someone come out of the brush and reveal themselves to be the chosen one of the angels. We must be connected or something to keep meeting up like this. Maybe it's the crystals? She did a small fist bump into the air as she listened to her go on. WE FINALLY GOT SOMEONE WHO TALKS. Christina was honestly glad they didn't have to go off of her horrible attempt t break the silence. She took the last bite of her candy bar and then shoving the wrapper into her pocket. "I'm Christina." She answered, not saying which species she was, not exactly sure what this angel's opinions of reapers were. Sure they were very nice people, but demons tended to be the only ones she'd met that didn't get instantly fearful when she explained what she was. Christina did like Angels very much though, whenever she went to some of their cities to trade, they always had the best gummy candies.

As the Angel came closer, Zephyr slowly lowered himself so he was once more standing on all four feet. Even before the girl spoke, he wasn't worried. There wasn't much that could take on a dragon — not even Hunters. Only iridium could pierce his scales, and at this size, while it would certainly hurt like hell, even that wouldn't kill him unless it hit his head or heart.
At the sight of the Angel's crystal, Zephyr looked skyward, wondering if there was some giant puppet master pulling their strings here. How was it possible that five out of eight of the chosen ones would all end up on the same path to the Gather? It just should not have been possible. Maybe, maybe Christina would have run into Lilah and/or this Angel — Avani — on her way, since the three territories — Reaper, Wizard, Angel — butted up against each other. But his territory and Alex's did not. Was it just dumb luck that led the two of them to Reaper territory to run into these girls? Or something more?
When Avani introduced herself and asked after their names, Zephyr, for obvious reasons, did not respond. He could have shifted back to a human, but taking a form this big took more effort than smaller creatures. Doing it twice in a row would greatly limit the total time he had to hold it. So he just stretched out flat on his belly and left it to someone else to introduce him.

[[ Yay! Someone who talks! ]]
The angel's quick and enthusiastic response was not exactly what Alex had expected. He had imagined a standoffish scenario not unlike the occasional interactions between different covens back home. Avani's excitement was surprisingly relaxing for Alex. It let him release some tension from his shoulders and a genuine smile blossom on his face. Lilah certainly seemed less tense, a feeling that was echoed throughout the group's general atmosphere. Alex let down a bit more of his guard, turning to see Zephyr sprawled (for lack of a better word) on the grass. He looked oddly adorable that way.
Dragons had never ventured into vampire territory. If they did there was no record of it, and vampires were incredibly meticulous about their records, documents, and all manner of related thing. Seeing one, or just the general shape of one, was meant to bring bad luck. Quite frankly most unusual things meant bad luck for vampire communities, given that their culture was rooted in tradition, repetition, and generally knowing everything about everything and everyone. And disliking werewolves, of course. Nevertheless, Alex took a few steps towards Zephyr, considering whether or not he should become a bat that moment or wait until the conversation progressed a bit further.

(Haha yeah and talking is something she does a lot of. Also even despite my heavy bias, they're literally some if the best movies ever made.)
One by one everyone, but the dragon, spoke up to introduce themseles. There was Alex, the first one to greet Avani. Christina was the second one to speak up then there was Lilah, the wizard, and finally Zephyr who was currently in the form of a red dragon, so he couldn't say much. Avani nodded and took a quick glance over her companions. It seemed they lacked the werewolf, demon, and elemental. Hopefully they'll make it to the gather when we do. Avani didn't know what to expect if everyone didn't make it to the Gather or show up for the supposed prophecy. Would it prove false? Would it fail because they were missing a few people or could it succeed despite that? Her blue-gray gaze flickered back over to Lilah as she explained their current situation. She slowly smiled along as the wizard spoke. So they were going to try and make it to the Gather tonight. That was good, especially because the angel wasn't tired yet. A day of mostly sitting around did that to people. Besides getting the oppertunity to stretch her wings, it would also give them a chance to hopefully meet up with the remaining three.
"Ah, well it's a good thing I can fly then." She flared out her wings briefly as she spoke, still smiling. "Anyway, the fact that most of us have met up is admittedly unusual, especially considering shifter and vampire territory is on the otherside." She paused and glanced at Alex. He did seem to be a vampire, but she hadn't been around enough to truly distinguish their energy. She turned to the black-clad travler.
"You are a vampire, right? That is if you don't mind me asking of course." Avani didn't want to be rude. She knew some people preferred to keep their race a secret or at least not reveal themselves to strangers. Although the crystals tied them together for a common goal, they were still strangers. Strangers who appeared to be not nearly as chatty as her.

"Yes, of course," Alex said calmly. He pivoted on his heels so he would face Avani, hoping his eyes would serve as confirmation. They glowed a bit brighter than normal since he had recently fed, but the difference was not noticeable to many outsiders. Fellow vampires would be able to see it, but someone who had never seen a vampire's eyes before could probably not detect the almost imperceptible difference in their illumination.
Although it had not been said (or if it was, Alex did not catch it), Avani was clearly the angel of their little prophecy. Her wings were not exactly subtle, but Alex supposed that his eye's were not either. Or his general appearance, for that matter. Vampires were known for being rich, dark, and relatively tall. Alex had no idea what other species thought or knew about vampires, but he thought the red eyes were a dead giveaway.

"Guess we better get going," Christina mumbled, walking closer towards the dragon. She took a slowly deep breath, it's fine, cool, you're good, even if you fall of then this angel can probably save you. When it came to riding any time of animals, Christina had gone horseback riding once and she still thought it was a bit strange, but I guess non-flyers can't be choosers. She walked up to one of his legs and squinted a bit, trying to strategize the best way to get up on Zephyr. She started hastily climbing up his leg, trying to get up onto his back. Christina, now out of breath from difficult climbing, she managed to get herself up onto his back and situate herself into a sitting position and let out a sigh of relief. I really feel like I looked like an idiot doing that but how else was I supposed to get up here?

So she was right. Alex confirmed her suspicions of his origin. The angel simplely nodded before turning towards Christina. She made a good point about leaving. The quicker they started their journey to the Gather, the quicker they could figure out what to do next.
"I believe that is a good idea. Maybe we'll run into the others on our way there or even catch their arrival," she said hopefully. Avani paused and watched as Christina climbed on Zephyr's back. It wasn't graceful in the slightest, but the short girl managed it. Avani offered a smile of encouragement to the Reaper before glancing back at the others. As she eyed them all for a moment, a thought came to the Angel's mind.
"Does anyone actually know exactly what the prophecy entails? I can say I certainly don't. I've, personally, grown up hearing about this great prophecy and the chosen saviours and whatnot, but I've never actually found out what it says. In fact, I'm not even sure if the people around me knew its details." No one had really explain anything to Avani growing up. They would either dodge any of her questions or answer around it. She never got a straight reply. Eventually she had stopped asking so often, though nothing really changed. Perhaps one of the others knew something she didn't.

Veive was in the werewolves' capital when news of the prophecy first began to spread, called on by an Elemental with the rare ability to glimpse the future. Kirce hadn't known all of the minute details, but he had seen something that he believed involved his friend in some way, and refused to stop contacting him until he relented. Not that this was in any way necessary- Veive loves visiting family and friends, and it wasn't such a hardship to travel between territories. He simply put up a front of indecision so that Kirce would keep calling him. His insistence was cute.
And so it followed that Veive learned of the prophecy, and his apparent place in it, a full week before the Ancients released it to the public. He finds it amusing that it's some kind of national call to arms- and was thus already prepared to fulfill it by the time it became widespread knowledge. Or at least, he thought so. There wasn't much detail involving what, exactly, he's meant to do. Fight? Drop his crystal into a volcano? Broker peace between Fylaria and humans? It didn't help that Kirce was constantly giving him dour looks, as if he expected this to be the last time they saw each other. Veive tried cheering him up and even offered to take him along, but Kirce would only mutter that he'd slow them down- Being half Wizard had made him fairly weak in nearly all regards barring the occasional ability to see into the future or past. Which Veive believes to still be a useful gift, but apparently it isn't one to be used on his...grand quest.
The days passed in a whirlwind of activity; he received concerned and congratulatory calls from friends, family, and relative strangers alike, as well as gifts and offers of aid on whatever he might need. He already had a home in the Gather and a method of transportation by the appointed time, though he declined the latter in favor of going on foot. Veive intended to fully seize the opportunity to interact with his favored element in relative safety- in regard to others, at least.
Pale golden morning sunlight was only just beginning to filter through the trees by the time he and Kirce had reached the city's outer reaches, Veive pausing at the edge of the road to smile back at his companion. Kirce only tipped his ebony Wizard's hat to shield sensitive eyes. "You'd better not die, or something-" He opens his mouth to say more but changes his mind at the last second, pressing his lips into a thin line.
"I promise I won't die- Or something." Veive turns fully to tip Kirce's hat back to see his face and bends slightly so that he can look the shorter man in the eyes. "I'll come back safely and stay in touch no matter what, 'kay?" His only response is a dubious grunt.
Veive steps back and presses his index and middle finger to his lips before sweeping to a shallow bow and touching them over his heart, following that by bringing them to his right eye and spreading them in his signature 'V' with a wink. "Scout's honor!"
Kirce looks mildly disgusted. "You're an embarrassment- and you were kicked out of the Scouts."
"I may have lost my badges, but I haven't lost my honor!" Veive grins unrepentantly as the darker elemental avoids his gaze with a derisive snort. He keeps his arms crossed when he's pulled into a hug and his gaze on the distant treeline when this is followed by a quick buss to the cheek. "I'll miss you, but please don't miss me! I'll be back before you know it~" Kirce scowls harder.
"I'm not sure why I was selected out of...everyone, but I'll do my best!" There's no question that he won't allow his home and family to be threatened- though there's a minute twinge at the thought of putting his life on hold for this- but Veive hurriedly pushes the feeling aside and strives to think positively. 'Positive!' With this in mind, he leaves the solemn elemental in the shade of a sign directing them out of the city and begins to hum to the melody of the breeze rustling the leaves overhead. 'Positive!' He thinks as he lifts a hand to the sky, thinning the clouds so that he can feel the sun's warmth through his glove. Veive's thoughts skip along with the stray petals he's directed onto the breeze; wondering about those he'd be working with, what exactly they'd have to do, and how they would accomplish it. He sincerely has no doubt that they'd succeed. His only concern is how long it might take- and whether he'll be able to make new friends. He hopes so. He's always loved to meet and learn about the other races; he intends to be a doctor who can treat everyone and has done his best to study them all closely. This is a great opportunity!
"Positive~!" The word emerges in a soft, lyrical tone as he spins in place to walk backwards, measuring the distance he's already covered with the wind at his heels. "The only way out is forward~"

Alex shook his head and shrugged. He knew practically nothing about the prophecy, save for there would be a representative from each nation, they needed to stop humans and all had a crystal of some sort. The vampires had a version of the prophecy for around seventy years, although it was incredibly vague. In eight against a danger that will not abate / Defend, don't wait, against those who subjugate. Alex's grandmother thought it was a ridiculous prophecy, full of bad rhyme and no proper rhythm. Besides, it made no mention of crystals or humans. Who knew if it even related to this disaster? Vampire prophecies were not hard to misinterpret. Thank goodness this prophecy did not come from a vampire prophet.
Alex began to walk towards Zephyr, still unsure of whether or not he should shift into a bat. It still felt incredibly rude to change around others. It was so taboo, so... wrong? Alex could not identify why, it just felt wrong. The vampire pursed his lips and jumped up onto the dragon's back. It felt weird, jumping so high into the air, but it was not entirely unusual. Vampire children did it all the time. Alex stopped sometime around the age of ten, but the movement itself still felt natural. Just doing it in public was weird. Made him feel unnatural, more of an other. Alex landed somewhat awkwardly on Zephyr's curved back, although it was not much more than a slight readjustment of his balance as he stood up. He turned to look back down to Avani and Lilah.

Zephyr rested his head on his clawed talons and watched the interactions between everyone, his eyes almost glowing in the gathering darkness. With every passing minute, his tail twitched, first only a little, but it quickly became more pronounced until his tail was almost lashing back and forth like a cat's. He was hardly aware he was doing it; it was the dragon equivalent of fidgeting fingers or tapping feet, and a sign of his growing restlessness. To distract himself from his boredom, he made silent commentary to everyone.
Well, good to know I'm not the only one who thinks this gathering is weird.
Yes, darlings, I'm pretty. But can you admire me from my back instead?
Aye, it is a good thing. Carrying two will be work enough without adding you.
Yeah, yeah, we've already established that Alex and I are more than a little off course here.
Ugh, yes, he's a Vampire. Can we please go now?
As if she had heard that last one, Christina suggested they leave and started moving toward him. Zephyr's head shot up, and the rest of him almost followed. At the last second, he remembered that they needed to climb on, and that would be almost impossible if he was standing up. So he remained on his belly, and stretched one leg out slightly in a makeshift ramp or step stool. It still wasn't easy for the smaller girl, but she managed.
Zephyr shifted slightly, adjusting to her weight on his back, then watched at Alex came over and jumped up too. He had to admit he was impressed the Vampire managed it in one bound, though he hoped Alex remembered to shift before takeoff.
Now just for Lilah. Zephyr made a sound, low in his throat, that was a cross between a growl and a hiss. His tail lashed, and he shifted his weight again, each motion a silent demand: Let's go.

//oof sorry I went to see a movie and same, you guys rock!!!
Christina watched as the other two climbed onto Zephyr's scaly back with much more ease and grace than she did. Why can't I do that? She glanced around the dragon, they didn't really have a direct way to hold on to the dragon and she gave a concerned look, how were they supposed to not fall off? "Well, I'm ready when you are," she said mostly towards Zephyr, but also towards the rest of the group, ready to get to the Gather. Christina glanced back at Alex, wondering he hadn't shifted yet, as she was actually very interested in seeing that. Vampires being able to shift into bats made a lot of sense, but she had never seen that before.

[[ Cool, what movie? And I'll watch it later, but not yet. I live in one of the later time zones so I still have a few hours to go.]]
"Me too, just give me a moment," Alex seconded. He did not know what it was like for a shapeshifter to change, no idea if it was painful or peaceful. For Alex it felt oddly natural, a sharp contrast to its taboo place in vampire society. It was almost like leaning over a bit too far and then falling, only you landed with a different shape. Alex did not understand how it worked, how he managed to change back wearing the same clothes, how a total reforming of his bones did not hurt, how his brain managed to maintain itself when its physical nature was completely different. Yet, somehow, it worked.
Alex sat down on Zephyr's back, his knees pulled up to his chest. He rested his hands on his knees, tipped forward, and shrunk. A lot. Canyon bats were famously tiny, their wingspan about as long as a hand is wide. Alex was essentially twice as big with a staggering two-hand-long wingspan. Absolutely huge. Very intimidating. Vampires were supposed to be fearsome and intimidating, but Alex-the-bat was adorable.
Once he had completely shifted, Alex fluttered to sit roughly between Lilah and Christina. He would be able to hold onto the scales with his tiny claws, and if he fell off he could just fly behind. He honestly had no idea how quickly he could fly in this form. Surely it would be slower than his running, but he might still be able to fly quickly. Maybe? Who was to say, Alex had certainly never tested it before.

As soon as Alex's weight disappeared from his back, Zephyr glanced over his shoulder to see Alex the bat positioning himself between the girls. Zephyr gave a grunt of acknowledgment and turned away, giving his head a shake. Then he stretched his wings wide, crouched low, and jumped into the air.
As his body went up, his wings slapped down in a powerful thrust, propelling him higher. Zephyr was careful to make his ascent as smooth as possible — his passengers didn't have seatbelts after all, and the spikes along his back weren't big enough to make very good grips. But his wings beat the air strongly, carrying them all higher and higher.
Zephyr leveled out a couple hundred feet above the treeline and angled himself toward the center of the continent — toward the Gather. He could have flown higher, but his lung capacity was greater than the others' in this form. If he went much higher the air would start thinning and make it harder for them to breath. So this was a good height. Besides, there was some wicked thermals here, giving him a boost of speed as he flew, fast and sure, for their destination.

(I was making dinner and doing stuff with my family. I'm able to reply now, though.)
Avani glanced towards Zephyr as he gestered to the sky. The Angel gave a quick nod before crouching down. She placed her wings on the ground beside her, preparing for flight. In a powerful burst, she jumped up and launched herself in the air. In her first few airborne moments, she fought aganist gravity, her ashen wings managing to cut through the air. Flying off the ground was always diffcult. Trees, large rocks, or even hills were usually ideal places for an Angel to take off from. Even the strongest Angel had diffculty taking off from the ground. She didn't have that luxury, though didn't have to worry too much about it. She was now gliding through the air, flying gracefully through the darkened sky.
The Angel rarely did many night flights. There were unseen dangers that could lurk around in the skies and if she weren't careful, one wrong landing could be made her last. The sound of the others joining her in the sky snapped Avani from her thoughts. Zephyr was hard to miss with the huge slap of his wings aganist the air. With a subtle flick of her wings, she shifted towards the side to make room for the shifter, though it seemed he wouldn't be going any higher. With a small nod Avani began the journey towards the Gather.

Alex shivered under the heavy wind. He had no idea what Christina and Lilah were experiencing, but his tiny body hated the cold. Normally vampires could not feel the cold, but transforming into a warm-blooded creature created quite the shock. A freezing shock. Another interesting thing was that his hearing remained fantastic, but his eyesight was horrible. Or perhaps it was just normal? Alex did not know.
He heard Lilah speaking but had a bit of trouble understanding her. The shift had scrambled his brain and language was a bit difficult to comprehend. He repeated the sounds over and over in his head until they turned into syllables, then morphemes, then words. Finally understanding her offer, Alex bobbed his head up and down. Yes, yes, warmth, thank you. He would have to thank her later.
Alex scrambled into the satchel, his little wingtips clattering against Zephyr's scales. He turned around so his tiny head poked out the satchel, turned upwards at Lilah. He bumped the side of the satchel, scooting it a bit closer to Lilah. Alex's head rotated, looking up at her. If he could, he would smile but, well, he had no idea what that would look like. Could his cheeks even make an expression like that? Probably not.

Christina screamed a bit out of terror once Zephyr leaped from the ground and started flying up to a higher altitude. She desperately tried to grasp onto his scales, shaking and grasping his back for dear life. I hate this. I hate this. I HATE THIS. Her eyes were closed and she grit her teeth, only finally settling down when they stopped climbing up into the air. She slowly opened up one eye, noticing that the other two did not seem to be freaking out nearly as much as she was and she quickly tried to compose herself. Sitting up slowly, Christina took in a labored breathing, realizing how high up they really were. She tried to ignore it and turned her head up to the sky, a smile falling across her face. The stars glittered across the night sky, shining brighter than ever before, she was stunned. She relaxed a bit more, okay this isn't as bad as earlier, now it's kind of nice. She placed her hands behind her and leaned back against them, looking up at the sky. Christina sat back up and angled herself so she could see downwards, she was shocked too see how small the trees looked from up here. Glittering in the distance, she could see the bright lights of the Gather far from them, but riding atop a dragon? They would be there in no time.
