Fall was setting in and as the terrain inside Reaper borders changed from ravenous mountain terrain to a forest filled with beautiful, tall, oak trees that were in the middle of their leaves changing from green to yellows and reds and oranges. Many leaves already filled the ground, a loud crunching sound following any footsteps in the forest.
What kind of freaking whack bs prophecy is saying that I'm supposed to save the world?
The thought had echoed through Christina's head ever since the message came to her city. She had her arms crossed over her chest as she walked through the forest, trying to soften her footsteps from the loud crunching of the dead leaves. She was wearing a light purple sweatshirt, black jean shorts, and black sneakers. She carried a loose backpack on her shoulders that had some food, water and other survival essentials her family through in because who knew what you might need on a quest. Christina glanced around every so often, she knew that nearing the central border meant that she could run into other species who were already on high alert for intruders, or she could end up worse and run into some Hunters. A loud crack could be heard near by, possibly coming from a stick breaking, which only lead Christina to freeze and wonder what caused the snap. She slowly set down her backpack and shifted into her reaper form, slowly turning her head around to search for any forms of danger. She almost jumped as she spotted a small white figure burst out of the leaves, then letting out a long sigh when she realized it was just a rabbit. THWACK Christina froze and glanced to her left, seeing an arrow with a bright blue tip wedged into the tree she was standing next to. She muttered a few curse words and slowly turned around, summoning shadows near her to morph into a scythe-like weapon. Three hunters came into her view, one notching another arrow into his bow, one holding a sparkling blue metallic sword and the other had a smaller pistol, probably with Cobalt bullets inside. Christina let out a long sigh, Well, let's get this over with.

Okay, so, I've been thinking. Zephyr travels a lot, even between the territories despite any animosity and danger. He's rarely in Shapeshifter lands, so I feel like he would have no idea about the prophecy. So what if he helps Christina, and she tells him about it, and he can be all, "wait, whaaat?" xD
//YES!!!! She just like spots his crystal and is like brooooo same XD

Zephyr had lost track of which territory he was in. His last three days had been spent as various feline species as he traveled in a northwest direction. He hadn't taken human form except when necessary, and he had avoided all other monsters. The last time he had been around others, it had been to sneak into a Werewolf's party almost a week ago. Nobody had noticed he wasn't a Werewolf, for most had already been well into their cups. Zephyr had soon joined them, and the result had been one crazy night.
The next morning hadn't been nearly as fun, however, and it had sparked the desire to avoid others for a while.
He was currently wearing the form of a leopard, laying stretched out on a large oak branch and enjoying the feel of the warm autumn sun on his brown spotted fur. His head was resting on his paws, his eyes half-lidded as he watched a red leaf flutter in the breeze. It twitched and tugged against where it was still stuck to the tree, fluttered more frantically, and finally came loose to drift downward.
Zephyr pounced.
Between one heartbeat and the next, he went from being stretched out, lax and lazy, on the branch, to suddenly up on his hind legs, his fore paws shooting upward to clap around the leaf. His tail lashed, keeping him balanced as he sank back onto his haunches and slowly released his hold on the leaf. It drifted down again, until he slapped it down on the branch with one paw. He lifted his paw a moment later to see the leaf, slightly mangled but still in one piece. He batted it away, then sat with twitching tail as it finally finished its descent to the ground.
Zephyr was about to stretch out again, ready to wait for the next leaf to fall, when a sudden crack echoed through the forest behind him. He turned, ears pricked, and sought the source with all his powerful senses. He saw nothing, smelled nothing, until…
A small rabbit darted out of the underbrush a few feet from his tree. Zephyr instinctively crouched, eyes locked on that rabbit as he got ready to pounce. But another, louder crack sounded once more from the direction the rabbit had come, and as it did, the wind shifted.
Zephyr sat bolt upright again, a low growl rumbling in his chest as he recognized the scent carried to him on the breeze: Hunters. He probably would have bolted, headed further into the wilderness like that rabbit, if he hadn't picked up on the other scent: Reaper.
Well, at least he now knew which territory he was in. Which meant those Hunters were hunting Reapers, so the odds of them being equipped to handle another monster species was slim. Especially when that monster was a Shapeshifter, whose own territory was clear across the continent. And that meant they weren't as big of a threat to him, and that they posed just enough of a challenge that rather than running away, Zephyr leaped nimbly from his tree and ran toward them instead.
It was well past time for a bit of fun.

Christina stood frozen in her spot near the tree, holding a shadow scythe in her hands. She was a bit outnumbered this time, but the Hunters stood still as well, seeming like they were waiting on her to make the first move. She squinted her eyes slightly at the three, thinking it was a bit strange. Only a few other times had she run into Hunters, and those that were specifically after reapers typically relied on the element of surprise. She burst towards the Hunters, speed on her side as she used one hand to send shadows to attack the Hunter holding the pistol, that's probably something I need to keep an eye on. She then grabbed hold of her scythe with both hands and struck it at the other two. One of the Hunters managed to jump out of the way, the other was cut up and thrown against a nearby tree. The other Hunter started screaming as shadows started to engulf him and climb their way up his legs. He shot a couple bright blue bullets at the crawling darkness and it quickly retreated back towards where Christina was. He then turned towards Christina, sending more bullets in her direction. Christina glared at him, okay it's cool, you got this. She slashed at them a couple more times with her scythe, managing to deflect a couple of the bullets being shot at her in the process, but she screamed as one of them grazed her arm. She attacked them again, trying to knock at least one or two out of the game to even the playing field a bit, when one of the bullets she deflected managed to hit another Hunter in the leg and he screamed. Christina glanced and smirked a bit, realizing this was her chance. Her gray eyes started to glow white and she stared at the Hunter closest to her. Let's see, alright we've got loneliness, rejection, death, okay well, don't we all. Ah! Here's something I can use. Her eyes stopped glowing and she dropped the scythe and watched as it absorbed into the shadows and created a ten foot tall viper that was hissing and headed right towards the three Hunters. Just as Christina was about to relax, she froze, watching the Hunters pull out these blue-tinted glasses and quickly put them on. They focuses on Christina behind her illusion and sent cobalt bullets and arrows her directions. "What the absolute-", She cut herself off, throwing up a shield of shadows in an attempt to save herself.

[[ Okay, here is my character. I'm very rusty with rp and everything, so feel free to ask me to adjust anything. May edit this later (probably not, it's just a possibility), idk. Also I put "the vampire equivalent of 20" just since I didn't know if these vampires live for forever or have regular lifespans. ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez - Male - the vampire equivalent of 20
Alex tries his best to conform to vampire stereotypes: all black clothes, expensive tastes, and over-dramatic moping. He strives to cultivate an intimidating image. This is mainly executed through wearing either black three-piece suits or lounge clothes (again, all black) that cost far more than what they are worth. Whatever his outfit, it is complete with long sleeves and pants. A vampire must keep the sun away. Alex also keeps a simple gold necklace with a cross around his neck, the chain tucked beneath his shirt. Occasionally the necklace will peek over the top, but the cross rarely becomes visible.
Unfortunately, his persistent fear of embarrassment taints his persona. Alex is a deeply self-conscious person. His self-consciousness can be helpful (it perfected his posture and skincare routine), but it is also harmful. Alex struggles to initiate conversation among strangers. He can be charming for short bursts, but prolonged interaction drains him. Besides, that charisma only works when he is only around one person. Multiple people create a more complex social scenario. The more people there are, the more unpredictable variables, the less Alex can control. His self-consciousness prevents him from even slightly exposing himself to embarrassment. He does not want to say the wrong thing, so he does not say anything.
Alex is not an expressive person. Why should he be? As far as he is concerned, being vulnerable would only embarrass him. When he questions his identity as a Latino, he does not mention it. If Alex is frightened by something, he does not mention it. Basically if something bothers Alex, he will not mention it.
Returning to his appearance, Alex is a rather lanky person. His skin is not as pale as the average vampire, sure, but it holds a distinct cold undertone beneath the regular brown. His hair is black and well-combed. His features are a bit sharp with a pointy nose and angular brows. Still, Alex is close to plain. Not particularly remarkable or memorable, save his red eyes. Among his fellow vampires they are normal, but any outsider would find them… unusual. Disturbing, perhaps, or even disarming. Reminders of Alex’s diet tend to be unusual for non-vampires. When he is around other species, Alex wears sunglasses. He does not want to be too different. That would be embarrassing.
While Alex certainly has some things to improve about himself, he is a distinctly principled person. If he commits to something, then he will do it. If he promises something, he will follow through. Alex is a very honest man. While he does not talk much, he will answer almost all questions honestly and fully. He prefers blunt truths over white lies, a preference that can get him in trouble. Nevertheless, Alex is very reliable. If you need to confide in someone, if you need help, go to Alex.
Alex can shift into a bat but not for long. His bat form resembles a large canyon bat. Alex rarely shifts. He was the only vampire in his coven who could, so out of politeness he rarely shifted. He grew up wanting to conform, so his refusal to shift became a symptom of that. Besides, the canyon bat is a fluffy creature. That doesn’t match a stereotypical vampire.
Alex’s crystal is pitch black. There are drops of scarlet beneath the surface, vaguely resembling blood splatter.

Okay, quick question: when they encounter Hunters, do the monsters kill them, or,like, subdue them and report them to someone?
//Preferably kill them or force them to run away since they're trying to kill the monsters!

The sounds of gunfire and battle reached him as he wove through the forest, no more than a silent shadow. Then he heard a scream, then another, followed by shouting and terrified shrieks. A few seconds later, he saw darkness wreathing between the trees ahead.
At the sight, Zephyr changed direction slightly. He angled off to one side and ran up the trunk of a slanting tree. Once among the branches, he jumped from tree to tree until he was at the edge of the clearing where the fight was taking place. Spotting the three Hunters was easy. Two were bleeding, and they all had weird glasses on as they closed in on their target. Zephyr avoided looking directly at the Reaper, as she was in her scary form and it was way too grotesque and bloody for his stomach to handle. The one glimpse he had gotten was enough to make bile rise in his throat, and he couldn't look away fadt enough.
Focusing on the Hunters as they opened fire on the Reaper, Zephyr crouched low, aimed, and jumped.
Mid-leap, he shifted from a two hundred pound leopard into a five hundred pound African lion. His fur was a dark golden-brown, his mane dark russet, and his eyes amber-gold. He landed directly behind the Hunters and immediately pounced again with a roar. He landed on the back of the first one, his jaws closing around the man's skull with finality before he could even find the breath to scream.
The other two Hunters leapt away with shouts of surprise and dismay and anger. The one with the gun pointed it at Zephyr's head, but he was already in motion. He launched himself at the man, shifting again in mid-jump so when he struck the man, he was a sharp-beaked peregrine falcon with brown speckled feathers and piercing gold eyes. He crashed into the man's face with a shriek, talons slashing and wings beating, before spinning away and flying high, leaving the man bloody and blind.
The third Hunter, realizing what he was up against and that he was now outnumbered, grabbed his surviving friend and started running, dragging the blind man behind him. Zephyr watched this as he circled high above the clearing, and only after the Hunters were gone did he fly down to settle on a tree branch by the Reaper. He still refused to look at her, but he clacked his beak and ruffled his feathers in an attempt to ask if she was alright.

Christina had a look of utter confusion on her face from the moment she saw a lion pounce on one of the Hunters, then it grew once she realized a it was a shapeshifter. Isn't their territory on the other side of Fylaria? She watched as he chased off the Hunters for her, looking away as he took down one of the Hunters and then blinding another. She may be a reaper, but Christina didn't have an iron stomach. She heard the commotion end and watched as the bird landed in a nearby tree. She turned towards the animal, wondering why it was facing away from her and acting all weird. A sharp pain ran through her arm and she glanced down at it, noticing blood from where the cobalt bullet had grazed her and also her grotesque arm. Oh yeah I still look gross. They probably don't want to look at me like this, I mean who does? The utter randomness of the shapeshifter saving her from certain death caused her to forget she currently was in reaper form, she quickly shifted back to human form, wearing her outfit from earlier and quickly pulled up her sleeve as not to get blood all over her sweatshirt. The viper illusion disappeared into thin air and all the shadows around them quickly calmed down and returned to normal. She took a few steps towards the falcon, a strange look still across her face. Who is this shifter? And why are they on the other side of the continent? "Hey, um, thanks for saving me." She mumbled before walking over to her backpack that she had thrown down earlier and hoping that someone had thrown in bandages for her. She unzipped the top of it with her good arm and searched around, finding some bandages and gauze and she quickly threw her bag aside. While Christina attempted to wrap her arm up, a couple things rolled out of her bag including some snacks, a rain poncho and her crystal.

Zephyr glanced at the Reaper, brief, darting glances as he waited for her to change forms. At her thanks, he looked at her once more. He was grateful to see she looked human again, though he noticed she was bleeding from a cut on her arm. He avoided looking at it as he let out a shriek, spread his wings, and flew toward her.
When there was still space between them, he shifted once more, this time into his human form. He landed lightly on his feet, wearing jeans, a grey t-shirt with the words "I woke up like this," and his bomber jacket. He tucked his hands in his pockets as he watched her search through her bag. "You're welcome," he said. "You looked like you needed it."

Christina finished wrapping her arm up as she watch the shapeshifter change back to human as well. She gave him a quick glance up and down, wondering why he was still acting a bit weird even though she was back to being human, but she brushed it off since this guy saved her life. She stood back up and brushed some of the dead leaves off of her shorts. She glanced around for her bag and froze a bit when she saw a girl walking towards her holding out her crystal. Where were all these guys coming from? Usually no one is out here at the borders? Why here? Why now? She stared at the girl with suspicion for a moment, she look very close to human to her liking, but Christina figured that if she was a Hunter, she would have planted a cobalt bullet in her chest by now. She took a few steps closer and carefully took her crystal out of the girl's hand. Looking around for where she had thrown her bag off to, a sparkle caught Christina's eye and she noticed a crystal, similar in shape to her own around the girl's neck. She relaxed a bit more, figuring that she must be the wizard chosen by the prophecy, or maybe something from an entirely far away land since they did have a shapeshifter in there presence for some reason. "Looks like we have a bit in common." She stated, glancing to the crystal around the girl's neck and then to her own. She rolled up her sweatshirt a bit so you could start to see some of the faded burn marks on her arm and the bloody banage easier and she held her arm out to the wizard girl and shrugged. Maybe an angel then if she can do healing stuff? "Yeah, sure, give it a shot."

Alex trekked through the forest, completely unsure as to where he was going. He had a horrible sense of direction, never sure of which way was north or where he was going. He knew it was away from vampire territory, but not much more than that. His coven had practically pushed him out, demanding he go find the other people in the prophecy. Alex had originally planned to go to the Gather, but he had missed it. Or was he just not there yet?
Alex had absolutely no idea. Instead, he just ran through the forest. Thank goodness for autumn, the sun set much earlier. That was a relief; sunlight is such a pain. His blood crystal helped, of course, but there was nothing that could truly protect him from prolonged sunlight. Alex ran from one spot of shade to another, thankful for his enhanced speed. He had to end up somewhere eventually. Whether it be the Gather or another city or town within another nation, Alex would be happy to be around someone. Strange, he normally wanted to avoid strangers at all cost. Now, however... it would be nice to have company. Or food. Depends.
Admittedly, Alex had never met a human. He had smelled traces of them, yes, but he had never seen one. His cousin had. Shee was another coven member (Alex's coven used family terms to refer to each other) who had a penchant for wandering off. One day she decided to take a walk right after sunset and did not return. They found her pinned against a tree, a stake driven through her heart. There were strangely alluring scents surrounding her. Alex could only suppose they were human.
The vampire settled beneath a tree, peeking up between the treetops. The sun was a fair bit past noon, although not as far as Alex would have liked. Oh well, he could deal with it. He pushed away a bunch of fallen leaves with his boot then settled between two large roots. He surveyed the area, trying to recognize anything. The trees were familiar, but that was not saying much. Alex knew nothing about trees. He lifted his nose a bit, smelling the air. Mostly there was just the standard smells: trees, flowers, a squirrel and its nuts. However, he could definitely smell someone in the distance. No, someones, many people. There was someone who tasted like magic, another like death. There were two big cats and a falcon in quick succession, so either there was a zoo or a shapeshifter. And, of course, there was that alluring scent again. And blood. Sweet, lovely blood.
Alex ran.

Zephyr was surprised by the appearance of the second girl — a wizard, he guessed, based on her cloak — but he was even more startled by the sight of the crystal they each had. They looked very much like the one he had had his whole life. He had no idea where it came from, and there had been times when he had considered throwing it away or selling it. Something had always made him keep it, though, and even now he could feel its weight in his inside jacket pocket.
He started to comment on the crystals, but when the Reaper exposed more of her wound for the Wizard to heal, he abruptly spun on his heel and walked into the brush. He didn't stop walking until the sounds of the two girls faded behind him, and then he stopped beside a wide tree trunk, one arm braced against it, and bent over to empty the contents of his stomach.
Once his stomach was empty, Zephyr turned away and leaned back against the tree, his eyes closed as he steadied his breathing and did his best to banish the memory of killing and maiming those Hunters. In the heat of the moment, when he gave himself over to his inner animal, he didn't think about what he was doing, the harm he was causing. It wasn't until after he took his human form again that he remembered, that his body reacted. Gods, he hated it when his human body betrayed him like this.
After a few minutes, Zephyr opened his eyes and pushed off the tree with a low groan. He made his way slowly back to the clearing, hoping the girls were done with the healing. He didn't think he could deal with anymore blood today.

"Yeah, apparently to fulfill some prophecy." She answered, undoing the bandage and waiting for the girl to perform some spell. Christina had only met wizards once before when she and some of her family went to go trade in one of their cities and she didn't really remember any of them being able to heal other people, that was more like angel magic, or so she had heard. Maybe she's got more power to her? I've got some tricks up my own sleeve, she thought, still a but curious. She watched the wizard, astonished as not only did her cut heal itself, but the old burns on her arm faded as well. She did indeed have a weird tingly sensation running through her arm, but she didn't really notice. She stared at her arm for a couple more moments, still in a bit of shock and then slowly rolled her sleeve down. She gave a slow not to the wizard. "Thanks." She managed to blurt out. Christina could hear the sound of someone throwing up nearby and assumed it was the shapeshifter guy, since she didn't exactly see where he went. She put all of her things back into her backpack and slung it around her shoulders and walked a bit in the direction of the vomiting noises. "Uh, hey are you good? Also, what're you doing all the way out here?" She asked him.

"Nope, it's just kinda weird." Christina stated sort of matter-of-factly. She had never seen a shapeshifter before and thought they were quote interesting, being able to morph into something extravagant like a tiger or unicorn, quite the opposite of herself, unless you were fond of scaring people. Her interest peaked when she heard what the wizard girl said, that could be possible, this could be the shifter who was chosen, he definitely over shot his distance on trying to go to the Gather, someone get this guy a map. Christina took a couple steps towards the shapeshifter and glanced at the wizard. It would make a lot of sense as to why he was far away from home and apparently "didn't" have a reason for being all the way out here. Christina reached around to unzip her bag and pulled her violet crystal out of it. She held it in her hand and glanced at the wizard before looking back at the guy. I really hope he is like us and doesn't think is weird, then again a prophecy about chosen ones is a bit weird in general. "I'm guessing you have one too?" She asked, her crystal sparkling a bit in the light.

Christina watched the interactions between the too, very confused as to why the shifter didn't know about the prophecy or the significance of his crystal or that he was supposed to help save the world. She made a curious face and scratched the side of her head, not exactly sure how to how to respond to his question, so she asked the question that they were both thinking. "You haven't seen any recent news?" She questioned, tapping her fingers against her opposite upper arm as they were crossed. She blinked a few times and turned her head a bit, thinking she could hear something off in the distance, running perhaps? I really hope it's not more Hunters, three is enough for one day. Also, what were those glasses that they pulled out? Is it letting them see through my illusions? That's just great. The faraway noise resembled the faint sound of crunching leaves. Christina gave a confused look for a second then turned back to the other two who she was standing near.
