(I was lazy and lurking, but I do like the idea of genetics plus skill determining how powerful someone could be. But anyway I enjoyed talking out this with you all as well. It's always fun to share ideas and get some input about it from other people.
Also I really like the idea of a defective group of monsters working with the Hunters. It would explain why the city was attacked the way it was and why many seem to be heading for the Town Hall. But as mentioned I have no idea what Bee has planned and don't want to overstep with any ideas.
I think I'll get something up today to connect the two groups. It won't be now, but probably tonight if I go through with it. I just don't want to get too far ahead before Bee can do anything.)

Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
The city was on fire, literally and figuratively. Burning buildings crumbled under the weight of ash and fallen beams. Those living in the apartments were out on the street, escaping from one hell and stepping into another. Clarisse heard the bullets and the screams before she saw them and when she rounded a corner at breakneck speed, she barely slowed to ram into the Hunters that were killing her people. She ripped into Hunters that crossed her path, emboldened by the presence of a companion. The shifter had taken off to defend others, but Clari was still able to see glimpses of wild animals in the fold of people.
They tore though the crowds in an effort to clear out as many Hunters as they could before they made it to Town Hall. The werewolf finished off those that the shifter brought down, the male doing the same when she bounced from hunter to hunter. By the time Town Hall towered in front of her and the crowds were thick with Hunter bodies, moving and stilled, Clarisse's fur was covered in warm, crimson liquid. She lost her new found companion soon after coming to the square.
She sprang through the crowd, swift as a roaring river and strong as an oak. There were so many bullets everywhere, but some of the hunters lost their nerve when they saw their fellows snapped in half with one crack of her jaws. Clarisse slowly made her way to the center, the shifters scent stronger there. Raven black hair and ocean blue eyes stared at the male that came to her side. The werewolf's nose quivered at the scent of the crystal she clutched in her hands. The sight distracted her enough that she yipped at the pinprick of a sword.
Not silver, thankfully. She turned quickly and flung the hunter like a ragdoll with one mighty swipe of her paw. Clari backed up into the other two, providing a shield for them and eyes on the thinning crowd. The Hunters were being beaten back, but the girl seemed exhausted. If she was a fellow member of the prophecy then the shifter needed cover in order to help her.
There were others in the crowd like the male had said. The scents of their crystals were like fine wine to her nose and she noticed that they were all moving towards them at the center. Good. I'm almost out of gas here.
She felt her window to shift in the near future closing rapidly. It had been almost three days since she had been in her human form, not that she cared much as she had gone longer, but if she collapsed in this form there was almost nothing she could do about it until she woke up days later. Being defenseless that long - especially when she had a prophecy to worry about - was simply not an option at the moment. Oh well.
Clarisse looked back at the male and female behind her, worry in her eyes. You got this? Hope you do. She sprang away to burn the last of her energy on the remaining Hunters in the clearing, extreme exhaustion turning her legs to lead. There was a hunter to her right in an alley, a female with beady eyes and murder on her scent. She sneered at the werewolf even when Clarisse drew her lips back in a snarl, gore dripping from the fur on her jaw. Her legs looked like they had been crushed beneath the rubble of a fallen building, but it didn't stop her from laughing.
"You look pitiful... sometimes I forget that monster's can bleed too..." Clarisse's eyes narrowed on her words, confused. She continued towards the Hunter, the smell of her blood inciting the more feral part of her. The Hunter female leaned back against the pile of rubble she was pinned too. "My family was killed by your kind. A whole pack of you monsters... Oh well... I guess this is a fitting end."
She was going to kill her, put an end to her suffering when the words struck home. It was then as the light started to fade from the female's eyes that Clarisse choose to stand down. Maybe it was the wrong course of action, but she fought through the exhaustion to shift. The fur melted away more slowly than usual into smooth and scarred skin, nails and teeth receding into a form much like the dying females. The sack around her fell to the ground since the strap was much too big for her. The female watched with a mixture of disgust and awe. Labored breathing accented Clari's heady voice, "Our land was peaceful before you disturbed it. Why do your people do this? It doesn't have to be this way."
A trickle of blood ran down her chin. She closed her eyes slightly, "Ju... just keep telling yourself that wer... One day, when you've lost every- everything... you'll understand why..."
The female breathed her last before she could finish. Clarisse stood there in the side alley for what seemed like lifetime, watching her become pale and cold. Compelled by something against her nature, she reached forward and closed her eyes completely. My family was killed by your kind... when you've lost everything... The werewolf forced her eyes shut, a sudden chill assaulting her bare skin.
It only took her a few moments for her to dress and leave the alley way, eyes haunted and crystal heavy in her bag.
This was.....unexpected of Xaoc to do. Helping wasn't exactly something he did. Just....wasn't a fan of it. But here he was, flying through the streets, ramming into hunters and just stabbing them where he could with his horns. Was it effective? Probably not. Was it dangerous? Probably. Would it probably lead to some unknown event altering his life forever? Nope, that's the stuff of dreams. But he kept going, not worrying about a thing. The only thing he knew for sure he was going to do was go to the Town Hall and.....and...... Wait a second! Xaoc stopped suddenly, wings beating slowly to hold him in place. What was his end goal here? Go to a building filled to the brim with panicked creatures? That didn't sound very smart. What was there to stop them from treating it like fish in a barrel? Now,Xaoc was always up for a little tussle but when it was a full out battle he didn't want to get caught in the middle of it. He placed his boney hand on his side and felt his pouch of seeds, hoping to get some comfort from it. While it didn't give him the satisfaction he wanted,it was still reassuring to know it was still there. (I would've written more but I'm a bit tired

Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Bare feet were simply not conducive to the environment in the city. With all the soot and blood and debris from the fallen buildings, not to mention scattered bullet casings, Clarisse thanked her lucky stars that her feet were covered in callouses. Years of wondering the farms or the forests after rainstorms without shoes on her feet suited her well as she picked her way through the dwindling war zone.
It was almost over now, the part of the city she occupied completely devoid of Hunters. The shorts she had packed did little to cover the bloodstains from her earlier war path though the ripped tank top wasn’t much better. Clarisse could tell that her mouth and neck were covered in the sticky crimson liquid by the way it had hardened and the awful stench... she dreaded looking at herself in the mirror. She just needed to make it over to Town Hall before anymore Hunters popped out of the woodwork and tried to kill her in her weakened state.
She might still be able to take them, but with the way her eyes were dropping and aching of her limbs she feared for her safety. The butter blonde of her hair, though muted for the blood, caught in the glare of the sun when she finally emerged from the alley way. Clarisse stuck her head out to check if the course was clear, only to curse softly and withdraw when a flying demon shot right past her. If she had been a wolf, she would have growled and bared her teeth, but the now humanoid creature simply pulled back her lips and panted.
She has been this close to being impaled by his horns.
So the female once again poked her head out and, seeing that he had taken care of the Hunters that were in the area, Clarisse stepped out in her full grotesque glory, “Watch it! I could have been a shish kebab if I hadn’t payed closer - Watch out!”
Clarisse lunged forward to intercept a Hunter. He swung at her but she ducked quickly and reached for his shirt, hand gripping the male and the other poised to strike. He tried to swing his gun up and towards her head, but her fist had already connected with the skin of his jaw. The male’s head bounced from the force of the punch, but didn’t go down. Clarisse clocked him again and when his eyes rolled back and his body went limp, she let him go. The male fell to ground, completely unconscious.
The werewolf swore and shook her fist. The skin had split with the force of the second attack. I’m not used to fighting like this anymore. I need to sit down before I faint. She always fought with her pack and as a wolf, but the feeling of skin on skin brought back memories. Clark looked over at the demon with a half grin. Her nose twitched slightly and she shook her head in disbelief. Found you.
“Sorry about that. I thought they were cleared out from this area...” She trailer off, out of breath and utterly exhausted. “Where you headed stranger?”
Town Hall probably. To meet with the others of course.

Xaoc looked back when he heard someone asking him something. Answering it had both it's pros and cons. Pros being he would then be able to throw off this werewolf by saying he was going somewhere else, cons being they could end up in the same place. Actually that's just one of each....I'll figure more out later. He decided inwardly. "Town hall." He rumbled. "You?" Everything he said was short and curt, best not to waste time in situations like this.
Taking it all in,things weren't as bad as he had first thought. Yes,everyone was dying and he wasn't going to lie and say he didn't find amusement in seeing the life drain from their eyes. But this happened so often you couldn't measure things the same way. "Wherever it is,run fast, run hard, don't get caught."

Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Clarisse's light brown eyes took in the taller demon. He was thin though it seemed most demons were or at the least so the ones she had met in the past. Her hair flopped slightly as she turned her head to the side, taking him in with keen awareness. Lips quirked at his statement, the female looked away towards the center of the town.
"Well, 'where ever it is' just so happens to be your destination: Town Hall. I'm meeting some folks there. Can't say that I appreciate this sudden change of events though. I'm quite tired." The half smile turned into a full blown smile when she chuckled. "And barely presentable anymore."
Though she figured that the others would be in the same position as her and besides, it wasn't like she cared what they thought about her state of affairs anyway. Clarisse just didn't want to scare some poor little sap when she waltzed into Town Hall covered in blood and gore. Oh well.
She turned her back to the demon in order to start the final part of their journey, desperate to get there before she passed out from exhaustion. Her feet cried out in pain as she walked over rubble, but without a pair of shoes (she had lost them days ago) there was nothing that could be done. She had planned to buy a pair once she made it to the Gather, but she had left her wallet somewhere too. Probably at her mother's house. No doubt she would be getting a call to the phone that had been abandoned with her pack. What a nightmare.
Clarisse waved over her shoulder at the demon, "Come on then. The faster we get there the better."

Inhale......
And exhale.....
That's all he did. He didn't say anything, didn't throw anything, and most certainly didn't hit anything. He was good at that. Sure, you can say you're good at calming people down or,keeping your head down..... But what it really was was the ability not to give someone a black eye. 'Don't punch something you can't handle.' That was his motto. Cliche? Maybe, but it had meaning. A person wouldn't go kick a whale because they thought they could beat it in a fight. That whale could just roll over and crush you like a fly.
Inhale.....
And exhale....
His opened the small sack and dumped out a couple of the seeds into his palm. The only difference between you and I is that you know what you're going to grow into. Me? Well that's about as predictable as the colour of a new flower's bloom. How he longed for the comfort of knowing where he would end up. How he wished he could plan exactly how and where things would happen. Xaoc often wished he could switch places with the seeds, maybe he could.....
Inhale.....
And exhale....
He sighed and put the seeds back into the pouch, tying it back to his side. "I'm a comin' I'm a comin'." He spat as he flew after her.

(So I was going to post this like three nights ago, but now works too. Also I was waiting a little longer for Bee to see if they would post. Also, also a bit of writer's block for this didn't help, but it's here now and I hope it's good enough to use.)
Hunters continued to head into the Town Hall as though they had some goal in mind. The angel watched them for a moment, curious and concerned at what they were doing. She knew there were still people in there who needed help, however she also knew going in would end in her death. Closing her eyes for a moment, Avani sighed and continued to follow the group around the side of the building. None of the attackers approched. Either they didn't notice the four of them or had other plans in mind. As the front of the building came into view, the angel noticed a few things. There were Hunters everywhere. Many were fighting with people nearby, but there were just as many if not more dead on the ground. Grass and concrete were blood-stained while the scent of death seemed to float on the breeze. Next thing she noticed was a few people up ahead. Two were beside each other while a third almost seemed to be flying towards them. She noticed a final person on the ground being dragged by their ankel. She glanced between everyone, and quickly realized they weren't Hunters at all. They also looked like they needed help.
"There are people ahead. Let's join them!" The angel declared. The others nodded in agreement and began to head towards them. Unfortunately, their presence wasn't hidden from the other Hunters in the area. The wizard deflected bullets with a spell while the elemental shot streaks of water towards their attackers. With their guns more or less ineffective, a few Hunters were ordered to take them down with different weapons. The small group prepared for another battle. The wizard with his spells, the elemental with her water, Christina with her illusions, and Avani with her sword. It wasn't much, but it would hopefully be enough to push back the next wave of Hunters. As they neared the other group of Fylaria people, everyone squared up with a hunter or two. Avani turned behind her and faced a man with a sword. Obviously made of iron. She narrowed her eyes at him, then raised her own blade ready for a fight.
The Hunter dashed at her, ready to strike. Avani stepped forward and slammed her glowing falchion aganist his own weapon. The two began their fight, swords clashing one aganist the other. For a few minutes, there seemed to be a stalemate between the two. The man stepped back and watched her for a moment. Avani made no move to strike back. In her moment of watching him, the Hunter lurched forward and pushed his sword towards her to stab her. She awkwardly deflected the blade towards her left. The man stumbled forward slightly before regaining his balance. Glaring at the angel, he pulled back the weapons slicing at her side. Avani gritted her teeth in pain. The wound both burned and stung. It was pain like she had never felt before, even with her shoulder wound. Gritting her teeth, the angel stepped back a few paces. Thinking he had theupper hand, the man smirked. He leapt forward once more, ready to deal a killing blow. Eyes lightly hardening, Avani moved the falchion to her right hand and summoned her back her shield. By the end of it, she would need at least a day to rest. The Hunter's blade harmlessly bounced off her shield, which gave her the oppertunity to strike him. Her shield smashed aganist his jaw before she shoved it in his face at full force. With the help of her wings to propel her forward, she managed to knock him out.
Avani glanced at the others who seemed to have mor for less equal success with their opponates. They were all mostly okay it seemed, though it was diffcult to tell. She had quickly become distracted by her fresh wound. She had little time to check her side injury. More Hunters would probably come, but for the time being it was best to group up with whoever was left in the area. As they continued their approch, there was something oddly familair about the lot. The angel narrowed her eyes. Then it hit her. They all came to the Town Hall! She thought excitedly as they neared the other group. Christina, the secretary, and the elemental woman along with herself. She offered a smile and an awkward, but friendly wave. Now that she had both her falchion and shield summoned, there was no point in dismissing either. "Glad to see you're all okay," Avani began with a smile. She glanced them over for a moment and found that most of them seemed to have one sort of injury or another. If she was strong enough, she could help them later. But now wasn't the time. In fact it seemed there was still someone who needed help. Whoever it was she saw get tripped earlier.
(Despite lacking some muse or whatever you want to call it, I'm glad I was able to knock out four good-sized paragraphs. Or I think they're good-sized at least. It's diffcult to tell on the phone.)

The flying stake goes completely unnoticed by Alex. Normally that sort of thing would be at least mildly obvious, but somehow the sheer panic of the situation cut off Alex's awareness. His focus was on getting somewhere safe, getting out of there, just running. Fleeing. That sounded cowardly, probably because it was, but that was the honest truth. In all of his rush, Alex did not notice the weapon flying at his heart. A stake could hurt a vampire, yes, very few things could. But a stake to the heart, that was deadly. Plain and simple. There was no coming back from that. Naturally, Alex's instincts did not remain aware of that rather important fact. They just made him freeze. Then run.
Of course, the sudden telekinetic push was unexpected. Alarming. Horrifying. All those stress-related adjectives. Alex tumbled to the ground, a broken bit of rubble slamming into his lower back. The impact forces Alex's breath out, and stupidly he inhales. Stupidly he stubbles onto his feet, stupidly he looks at the trail of blood from where Vieve used to be. He follows the path roughly with his eyes, suddenly aware of the harsh reality of battle. Strange, it somehow hadn't registered to him before that he was in the middle of a battle. It seemed like a dream, a fogged haze, and now it was clear. He needed to get out of there. They needed to get out of there.
Alex staggered after the bloody trail in the rubble, occasionally bursting forward in a blur before reverting back to a normal pace. His breathing stopped again, but his ears started ringing. Battle cries echoed from a distance, screams and yells and shouts all originated from far away... everything just seemed so far. So removed from him. Yet there Alex was, making his way through an unrecognizable plaza of ash and broken stone. The vampire maneuvered around the less-occasional-than-he-would-like body, whether moving or silent, and the far-less-occasional-than-he-would-like fight between a Hunter and a monster. It all seemed so slow to him, the fighting. So sluggish.
His tunnel hearing locked onto a spitting voice. It moved like vicious velvet, a gentle caress that suddenly morphed into claws digging into skin. Alex moved quicker, still stumbling over two left feet, until he was only a few paces away from a looming figure and a hurt Vieve. There ended the blood trail, and Alex found himself frozen again. Entirely unsure of what to do. Please just move Vieve, he begged, please just be okay.
[[ Ahhh that took forever to write and I can't even reread it again ugh ]]

Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
One eyebrow quirked up at his snappish tone, Clarisse tried her best not to be offended by the obvious lack of want to travel with her. She tugged down the blood soaked hem of her tank top to keep from snapping back at him. It wouldn’t do for her to make a bad first impression with someone who was obviously apart of the prophecy. He should be glad that she actually wanted to be nice today. “Good. Because it seems like they could use our help over there right about now.” The werewolf female turned her back to him and turned up the pace. The battlefield that been mostly cleared expect for one stubborn Hunter which seemed to be dragging a male by his ankle. Since there were already monsters there to help, Clarisse focused her attention on the shifter and his female companion from earlier. “Let’s get over there! That shifter and I met up earlier. Besides I think the female might be injured.”
Clarisse had very little knowledge of field medicine and she didn’t particularly have anything on her at the moment. Yet, she knew how to dress wounds with ripped shirts and stop bleeding. There had never been any need for her to learn that kind of thing; her alpha, Henry, always knew what to do when a pack mate had been injuried. She slowed down when she got in range of the others. Hopefully they would be receptive.
She winced at a rock digging into her heel before glancing over her shoulder, “I’m Clarisse by the way.”

[[ A while ago in some post that I have since lost track of, I mentioned a Kea dictatorship and some sort of vampire mind-control thing. Basically as a vampire bites someone, there is some sort of sedation that causes the person to go limp or at least resist the vampire less. I thought that for some vampires, this sedation could manifest into some sort of thrall or control over the bitten person. In extreme cases, the bite would be entirely unnecessary and the vampire would simply have a sort of influence over those around them. Essentially this trait tended to appear with very arrogant and determined vampires, as the ability to get anyone to do what they wanted tended to corrupt them. Consequently, they tended to vie for power.
[[ Vampires tend to live only with their covens. Each coven has its own unique set of traditions and celebrations. They often include very old rituals, just since vampires can live for very long time and prefer sticking to ancient traditions and whatnot. Some covens prefer to live with others (so vampire cities are really just a bunch of covens forming one large overall coven. So a city vampire could identify with their coven (like a family), but they still share a general cultural identity with nearby covens. In these communities, various vampires form very close bonds. Thus, it is a lot easier to control people within that population.
[[ Thus this lead to a few authoritarian states that began to control larger and larger swathes of territory until one city, Kea, essentially ruled everyone. A few of the top government figures had the sort of mass-control thing or whatever, so they were constantly fighting for power and influence. So different covens backed different leaders (or rather fell under their control), and yay now there is a lot of fighting. It spread to the towns near the border and vampires ended up fighting with nearly species as well. Eventually one vampire won control and there was a dictatorship and...
[[ At this point I don't really know. Somehow that government (named the Kea Regime or Kea Dictatorship for the city in which it started) fell, vampires decided to stop living in large, close-knit communities, and meanwhile the vampires who could control or enthrall others disappeared. It probably led to something like a series of witch hunts, but I am not really sure. Either way, they're all gone now, and vampires tend not to live in large communities of more than just a few covens. There is a nationwide government, but most regions and territories establish their own laws and the national government doesn't interfere with these. Really the national government is just a way for vampires to communicate with other nations; they do not hold a lot of power in the country itself. National representatives are very respected, mostly since they are very old and vampires respect that. There have been occasional times were a region was starting to turn back to the old days of authoritarianism, but typically nearby regions interfere before it can get too bad.
[[ It's not super well developed, but that's what I'm thinking so far. ]]

[[ And I really like that idea! I'm still on the fence about compulsion, but I think I prefer having someone who is just so charismatic and naturally manipulative that they don't need that extra power. Maybe that's just me, idk, but yeah. Anyways, I think the dynamic between vampires and humans would be really interesting (just since the latter is basically prey). It would be really interesting to see both sides manipulating each other. Any other species that could have possibly had past ideologies or history that resemble the Kea Dictatorship's? Just wondering how to incorporate other species. Maybe the as-of-yet unnamed Vampire Leader could have teamed up with another monster w/ a similar ideology with the agreement that they could help each other overthrow their respective governments? Of course both would probably want to stab the other in the back later on, but whatevs for now. ]]

[[ Maybe someone who can compel others but not as well as past vampires could? So maybe they can only compel a few or need to infect someone with their venom first. I'd love to keep a naturally charismatic and manipulative character, but they could certainly have a "backup" per se. ]]
[[ I like that! That sounds really cool, it would be really interesting. ]]
[[ Sorry for my hella short responses, I'm just too tired and too unoriginal xD ]]
