Fatid grumbled again, but looked around. He didn't need much, as he hunted and slept wherever. He eventually just settled on a watermelon. He liked watermelon. As he picked one out, he overheard some people talking about the war. One monster even mentioned that the enemy was a Warmaster too. "Ugh, I hate when people talk about that old tale. Everyone knows there's only nine Warmasters." The fabled Tenth One was just a tale to tell kids to keep them from going to war. "Or at least it's said."

Cally looked over as he said this. She then shrugged, “I was told that story when I was little too. I always just thought that maybe the tenth was covered up after wards, wiped from history and everything... but you’re probably right. It’s probably just a silly tale to act as propaganda.” She then looked to the watermelon before finishing filling up her little basket, “oh, good choice.” She said with a smile.

Fatid hummed. "Most like to think that none of them exist, but I've actually seen one." He looked proud. Well, as proud as an ugly, warped monster could look. "It was ages ago, when I was wandering around Vlad's property. I ran into Necromancer for a time before staff ran me off the property." Just the presence alone was quite something. "What about you? Surely you've been exposed to at least Epic tier if you've completed training."

Cally listened with interest as she finishing picking up the food she needed, “wow. That must have been quite the honor.” She said. She then nodded, “Yeah. Quite a few actually.” She said, “just because I’m not the strongest doesn’t mean I don’t have experience.” She said while taking his watermelon to pay for it.

Fatid snorted. "Well, you must be the one that captures. You don't have killer in your eye. Not that I see." He doubted she'd killed much at all. He grumbled thanks as she paid for the watermelon. "You don't really seem like you'd be a hunter. You just look like a human with a petty gun. You should consider something else, unless you have a strict family or something?"

“Yeah. I capture and the others kill.” Cally explained, “I’ve always hated the thought of killing innocent monsters... my old friends on the other hand...” she then gave the water melon back to Fatid and began to carry the rest of the food, “well my family are all very skilled hunters. I just got the short end of the stick I guess.”

Fatid grunted. "I doubt they'd do anything if real hunters showed up." He then just ate his watermelon, rind and all. "Gregorz does most of the killing though, and Korg collects most of the live stuff. So, I guess hunters like you are possible." He shrugged his large shoulders. "Everything's up to you though."

Cally huffed, “I guess I have some job searching to do. I have all the training for hunting, but I guess that could go out the door. Maybe I’ll do what you suggested earlier and just become a merchant or something. I don’t know.” She said. After a pause, the brunette looked up at Fatid, “so, I’m assuming you don’t have a mate yet, right?”

Fatid stared at Cally. "You seem like someone who has higher standards." He knew she was just asking out of curiosity though. "No, I don't. I'm one of the ugliest things in the Multiverse. Even humans are better looking..." He glanced at her as he led her to where the smith was. "Why?"

Cally giggled a little at the joke, but it quickly faded into a frown. “Hey. Don’t say that about yourself!” She scolded, “or humans. Especially because I am one!” She then sighed and smiled, “I don’t know, I was just curious. It seems we’re both pretty new to the romance game then. Just two misfit species.”

Fatid stared at her, snorting "Maybe we'll find each other mates." Not that they'd be traveling together much longer though. "Too many rely on looks. And the ones with looks AND power get all the females, and even the males!" He grumbled "I could protect a mate..." Eventually they reached the smith and his store.

“Hey, looks are almost just as attractive as a good personality. And if someone you’re interested in can’t see past what’s on the outside. Drop them.” Cally advised. She then laughed, “I’m sure you could protect a mate mr ‘I could kill you on a single smack’.” She teased, “be honest you were just flaunting your power then weren’t you?” She teased.

Fatid huffed. "Fine, yes." He then grunted. "It's all I have to do mostly. I participate in tournaments, but my teammate always walk off with "partners" and I have to go find other methods of entertainment." He snorted at that. He then glanced at Cally. "... maybe you could watch me participate. At least I'd have someone who's actually participating for me mainly."

Cally raised an eyebrow as he spoke. He face then lit up as he suggested she came to watch him, “I’d love to go. I used to see tournaments when I was younger. I’ve forgotten most of it though. It would also be cool to see you use your powers to your full extent.” She said while looking him over, “you do look like you pack quite the punch.”

Fatid hummed. "Pack and take a punch. I serve better as a tank rather than an attacker." He could do some damage, but his hulking form could take hits, and bullets, better than most monsters aside from other tanks. "There aren't any tournaments here, but we can head to Crystalline. There's always some going on. You might find some work there too if you're really considering not becoming a real hunter."

Cally nodded, “ah, I see.” She then looked to Fatid with a pleading smile, “well I’d love to come, but you’ll have be my big, strong escort.” She said, throwing the strong part in to try convincing him, “though I think you were already going to do that weren’t you?”

Fatid grumbled. "I guess we could travel together." He then looked upon getting to the smith. "Do you just need a weapon or something? Armor maybe?" It would be hard to find bullets, as very few monsters used them.

“Mainly just a weapon. Armor would be nice too, but it might be a little impractical depending on what it is.” Cally explained. She then turned and spoke with the person there.

Fatid shrugged. "At least something to protect your torso. Humans have very fragile, well, everything." He grunted. "Besides a gun, what were you taught to use mainly?" The monster there, a Firesque, listened as Cally also spoke. "Leather armor might be a suitable start. Lightweight, more mobility but still some sort of defense. At least something to protect your vitals like Fatid said." (Firesque example x3)

“I’ve been trained to use all sort of fire arms with different special affects. But I can also use some old school weapons like swords, Spears, bows and arrows, and more.” She explained, “and alright. I’ll take the armor. Now that you mention it I would actually like to keep my guts from spilling out of me.” She joked.

The elvish creature tilted his head. "Hmm, we can get you fitted for the armor and you can look at the swords I've got, in exchange for some Black Cherry Roots. Real expensive, a merchant apparently arrived with some this morning, but I'm sure your new friend can intimidate them a little into just handing some over..." Fatid shrugged, saying "Alright."

Cally smiled to Fatid in thanks. She then looked back to the other monster saying, “we’ll be sure to get them for you... or at least we’ll try.” She said.

The Firesque nodded, and pointed them to where the merchant was. Fatid shrugged and led Cally off. "At least you don't have to spend money, but Black Cherry Roots are also fair payment." Black cherries were rare and used by a lot of the higher-ups, who had money. And you could grow a LOT with the roots. "So, what's your family like?"

Cally walked happily along side Fatid. The two looking like polar opposites. “Well, they’re very caring and accepting, but they are tough. And of course, they aren’t the fondest of monsters. I’m different in that sense I guess.. what about you? What was your family like?”

Fatid nodded slowly. He then grunted. "... I don't remember my family. I just remember that I was a Sheluke, so I must've had some as parents. I sort of remember my mother though. Not what she looked like, but how she was. She was the best, taught me to fight and always cared for me." He looked down, frowning slightly.

Cally frowned a little, putting a gentle hand on his arm in comfort, “I’m sorry to hear that. I bet she was a great mom... well, if you stick around I can be your family. We’re both kind of on our own, so we can be something along the lines of family friends.”

Fatid tilted his head, nose twitching. "... Okay." That was a first, someone wanting genuinely to be his friend. It made him smile a little. "But... aren't you ever going back to your family? At least to visit or something, right?" He assumed she was just traveling somewhere for fun, and would eventually go back.

“I came here to find new opportunities and create a new life for myself. Back home I was about to become a full on hunter, but I couldn’t handle it.. so I left. I probably shouldn’t go back any time soon..” Cally said. She then smiled up at him, “see, I knew you were nice. Otherwise you wouldn’t have agreed.”

Fatid hummed. "I'm just used to everyone avoiding me or picking fights." He then huffed. "I'm sorry about leaving your family. Maybe you will go back at some point. Well, you have to. Did you actually tell them you were leaving? Or did you just up and leave?"

Cally shrugged, “I told them. They allowed me to come. Gave me some more money than I already had from my past job, and sent me on my way. I think they new all along I wouldn’t follow through with being a hunter, so I think they’d already accepted defeat.” She then sighed, “if you weren’t a monster I think they’d like you.”
