Eylul walked up the steps of a large building that stood in the centre of the capital's noble district. It had tall pillars and stood just a floor or two taller than the surrounding buildings. Walking through the shadows of the entrance doorway, which was slightly ajar as the guards opened and closed it repeatedly to let people in. Inside were large courtyards, gardens, and bathhouses towards the back, a frequent social spot for wealthier Meviahns. Eylul wore a simple white dress with long sleeves and intricate lace patterns that would only be noticed up close. She stepped out into the front courtyard area where a few other people were already sitting around small tables and playing cards or talking idly. Hawkeyes258 maybe a starter for Calix?)

Bulent closed the gate and caught up to her down the narrow soil path. He knelt down next to her, glad he was wearing his plainest clothes for this. "When you said gardening I was thinking it would be a lot of digging up and replanting, like the queen likes to have done with half the gardens every year, but I guess I don't know much about gardening. These are the weeds right?" He looked at some small fern-like stalks of green that stuck up from the soil in between and around the rows of plants. πππππ’ Adelaide smiled gently and shook her head slightly. "That's mostly done with the flower garden, the big one that's closer to the palace. These two are for produce, which the queen does have a say in what grows here but the staff typically makes most of the decisions. It's really hard to get rid of certain vegetable and fruit plants, even if you think you've removed them there's still a few sneaky seeds that get leftover and grow the next season." She informs Bulent, not moving closer to him as he gestures to the weeds. Adelaide nods and kneels down, gripping the base of the plant and giving a rather strong yank, soil falling from around the roots once it's pulled up. "Yes, the ones with razor-blade-like leaves are the ones we want to get rid of." She tosses it into one of the baskets she'd brought out, reaching to grab the handle after and placing it beside him. "You can deposit them in here and we can deal with them once they've all been picked."

Bulent followed her example and found another one, reaching for the base and pulling it up with the roots. He tossed it over her shoulder into the basket before she moved it between them. "All the dates and apricots looked like they could be harvested soon for summer." Bulent mentioned, seeing them grow a few rows away. "When I was younger the queen was obsessed with dried apricots, and she'd get grumpy during the winter when she couldn't have any." He moved to pull out more weeds. "Do you like gardening?" He asked Adelaide.

With the mention of the dates and apricots, Adelaide turns her head towards the trees and spots the brightly colored apricots between the sea of green leaves, the dates weren't as easy to see from a distance. The memory of the grumpy queen put a sort of smile on her face and she looked to Bulent again. "I remember that, I would avoid the halls as much as I could when she would get into one of those moods. It also didn't help keep the other servants spirits high either." She said with a chuckle, dumping a handful of weeds into the basket before standing and starting to inspect some of the other plants, wiping the dirt off on her apron. "I don't mind it. I like the sunshine and being outside, but it puts a strain on my back if I'm hunched over for so long, and sometimes I can't get the dirt out from under my nails for days, but I guess those are just minor things." Her gaze sweeps over to him after she's picked a ripe tomato off of its vine, gently brushing it clean with her apron then offering it to Bulent to hold and feel. "What about you? How are you liking gardening so far?"

"If there are any worth harvesting maybe I'll bring some to her." Bulent said. "Anytime I see the servants start to hide is usually when I find some excuse to leave for the barracks too." He chuckled. He walked down one of the rows and pulled out all the weeds, leaning down to uproot them quickly until he'd done half a row in just a minute or two. He walked back towards her, checking he didn't miss any. He also glanced over his shoulder once or twice in case any adviser or other royal family member saw him there. Bulent took the tomato and looked it over. "It's something to keep active and busy with, made better by good company," he commented.

"I believe there might be, we could go check together after this." She watched as he looked over the tomato before holding the second and empty basket out for him to place it in. Adelaide smiled at him and tilted her head slightly. "Well, I think you're rather fine company, Bulent. I hope you feel the same about me." It wasn't often that she would say his first name aloud, but it slipped out every once in a while when she was feeling confident. With that she went back over to the tomato plants, peering into them and picking anymore ripe ones off the plant, blue eyes flickering over to the prince every once in a while. "You're doing a good job cleaning up, thank you for your help."

Bulent took a moment to notice her holding the basket out and dropped the tomato into it. "Yes, that's what I meant." Bulent nodded to her. "We've both lived in the palace our whole lives but we still don't know much about each other." He said. He watched her go to harvest some of the ripe fruits while he kept focused on pulling more weeds, mostly because he wasn't able to tell exactly if a fruit was good enough to harvest yet, but he stuck close to her. "Not a problem." he smiled to her as he passed, uprooting another row of weeds.

Adelaide returned the smile as he passed her, feeling her cheeks start to heat up but blames it on the warmer temperature. "I don't usually have the time to sit around and talk, and you've always been so busy running around and never really being here." She pointed out, noticing there weren't anymore ripe tomatoes and moved on to check on the carrots, pulling a few out and placing them in the basket as well. "I'm not sure the queen would appreciate you spending so much time getting to know me, thought." But it's something I wouldn't mind. Adelaide thought, but didn't dare say out-loud.

"Yeah about that I probably should get to the barracks later this afternoon. Two of the mares are expecting foals from the largest sire, and then we have a few yearlings who need to be trained not to be afraid on boats." Bulent said, clearly able to go on more about it but thought the military stuff might bore her, and wasn't sure how much of what the generals told him he was allowed to retell, so he went silent for a moment or two. He noticed Adelaide go quiet to and tried to think of something to say as he walked up to her and put a handful of weeds into a basket. "What do you usually do when you get spare time?" he asked.

His approaching footsteps cause her to look up, sitting up on her knees a bit more as he deposited more plant debris into the other basket. She wipes her hands for a moment as she thinks, glancing up to him again and smiling. "I like to read, so I'll spend most of my time tucked away in the library." Adelaide tells him before standing up, just now realizing that she only came to about his shoulders. "You really like spending your time with the horses, right? I've noticed you always sneaking off to the barracks, or training them." It's not that she wasn't interested in military, but Adelaide knew so little about it that she didn't often engage in conversations about it and it's not like the other servants talked about it either. "Why do you keep the horses on the boats? What's the purpose of that?" Adelaide asked, sounding genuinely curious.

"I didn't know servants were allowed in the library. Then again I've only been in there maybe four times at most. Sometimes I sneak off there but most of the time it's not a secret when I go to the barracks." Bulent said. "We don't keep the horses on the boats, but if horses need to be transported to other islands or the mainland it's best to get them used to boats. Horses are better used around the ports we control on the mainland than on the island, but we have to get them there first," he explained, looking over the fruits in the trees next to her.

That's when Adelaide flushes and she almost looks nervous before giving a small chuckle and shaking her head. "Not usually, but I haven't gotten caught yet." She admitted, trusting that he wouldn't say or do anything about it, not that she thought he would. "I haven't been able to go there recently, we've all been a little busy lately." She told him, now listening as he explained what they do with the horses on the boat and nodding along. "How do you train them to get used to the boats? Will you go to the ports later today?"

Rafaela left her house later on and walked to the beach to meet with a few other soldiers stationed around a guard tower overlooking the sea. She had changed into her casual clothes and wanted to talk to the commander there to know what her future post would be like, and she also hung around after the events of that morning because their were more soldiers there.

Bulent raised a brow at her nervous chuckle. "So you have been risking getting into trouble for it, you must really like to read." He laughed. "We blindfold them then lead them up onto the ship. When they get used to the rocking motion of the boat we'll try to remove the blindfold and if they get spooked we guide them off and try again later and give them some treats. Once they are used to being on a boat, we train them to be okay with getting on one without being blindfolded by enticing them on with the treats. Most aren't very scared of boats to begin with though." He stopped when he felt like he'd been talking on for too long. "Likely we'll be at the small dock on the North-Eastern side, it's quiet there."

His laugh only makes Adelaide blush even more and she glances away for a moment, giving off another nervous chuckle but physically relaxes. Bulent didn't sound mad about it, in all honesty she figures he hardly even cares about it. "I guess I do." She said simply, then looks to him again as he begins to explain. Her brows raise inquisitively, not even noticing that he had been talking too much, but caught on to when he wrapped it up quickly. "That sounds like a good chance to get some reading done." It was her attempt at teasing him, picking up the basket full of carrots and tomatoes before beginning to walk over to the trees, remembering him looking over to them earlier. "Are you good at climbing trees?"

Bulent looked at her for a moment just before she turned away trying to catch her expression, then he quickly went back to focusing on the gardening. "That I get some reading done while training horses, or you get to run off to the library while I'm gone?" he asked her. "I've never been allowed to climb trees, so I don't know." Bulent walked up to the trees with her and looked at the branches, trying to plan how he would climb them. "I'll give it a try."

Adelaide glanced back to him, showing off a rare, cheeky little grin in response to his question. When he told her he was never allowed to climb trees, her eyes widened a little in surprise. "I guess that makes sense." She chewed on her lower lip, standing beside him now as she observed the apricot tree. "First you want to kind of grab hold of the lowest branch and then you could either use the trunk of the tree to help yourself get up, or pull yourself up. You mostly want to stay towards the base of the branches, and typically stick to the stronger ones that will bear your weight instead of snapping underneath it." Adelaide really hopes he won't end up falling and hurting himself, it would be difficult to explain that one.

"I mean all that seems pretty obvious, just never had to actually do it." Bulent chuckled as he grabbed the strongest lowest branch he could reach. Trying to use the trunk to push himself up the branch swayed and he paused for a minute. "You know these trees are just small orchard ones I'm not sure how well they'd hold my weight..." he looked over his shoulder back at her but kept climbing a bit. "You're looking for the apricots at the top right?"

"They can still hold a lot of weight, but then again I'm not sure how heavy you are." She smiles and stands back, watching him but almost looks away when their eyes meet. "Oh, uh, yeah. Those are always the hardest to get." Adelaide stammered through her words. While that part was true, she wasn't about to tell him about the fruit picker they use. She wanted to see how he'd fare with this, honestly curious about how well he'd do. "If you can reach any just toss them down, I'll catch them."

Bulent stayed close to the trunk and climbed his way up slowly, ducking his head as he slipped his way between the branches. He stopped every time the tree swayed but he was finally far enough up to reach the top. "So what kind of things do you like to read while you're in the library?" He asked, trying to gently toss apricots down through the tree branches.
