. s u m m i t c l a n . . i n t r o d u c t i o n . Cold. It's in our bones, our blood - it fuels us as we hunt, burns through our muscles to keep us alive. Nothing has ever been as cold as the peak of Mount Windsor, where we make our home. We thrive here, in the tight air. Our thick pelts provide us warmth, and the callouses on our paw pads keep us safe on the slippery mountainsides. We are Summitclan - we are the warriors of the frozen peaks, and we will not let anything destroy us.
Not even our own territory.
. r u l e s .
i. Literacy. This is at least a semi-literate Clan. Please, do your best to type at least five lines per cat, per post. And try to keep grammar and spelling mistakes to a minimum. We understand mistakes every once in a while, and low muse does happen. But too many mistakes and one-liners are not accepted.
ii. Prefixes. Due to the nature and location of this clan, some names that would be common in the book territories won't be allowed here - for instance, this clan knows nothing about fire, so anything related to fire, such as 'blaze', 'burn', etc. will not be accepted. Also - I'm very strict about what cats would or wouldn't know about. Names that I or others have to look up to know the meaning of aren't acceptable. I'm sorry if this offends you, but frankly some names are just too wild for even me.
iii. LGBT+. This RP is LGBT+ friendly, which means we accept cats from this community. If you can’t accept that, this is not the RP for you.
iv. Activity. Please, try to be on at least two times a week. I worked hard on this clan, and it would be upsetting for people to join and then never come back. After a week of no activity, you will receive a warning. After two weeks, your cats will be temporarily deleted to save space. If you know you’ll be gone for a long period time, please let us know so we can place you on excused absence.
v. Harassment. This will not be tolerated at all. In character, issues with others are fine. But keep any OOC drama out of the RP. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
vi. Spam. Please, don’t spam this thread. If you’re calling someone back to your RP, that’s alright, but please don’t do so repeatedly. Bumping is also not preferred, a little inactivity for a few hours is no big deal. The only exception is if you are a mod and the thread is no longer on the first page of Fan Clans.
vi. b; No kit-____ing please. Just. Don't do it.
vii. Forum Rules. Forum rules are our rules. Follow them, and follow our rules as well.
viii. Realism. We would prefer for this clan to be as realistic as possible. No cats with pink or red eyes unless they are albino, and no purple pelts or wings. And please, no unheard of patterns or color mixes for your coats.
ix. Joining. Please join with at least one cat of both male and female genders. Feel free to make more than two, but no more than you can handle, please. We'd hate for a cat to be made and then never RP’ed. Please also join on the correct page. thank you. Be sure to look over prefixes. ALSO - please hpin with at least two cats of other ranks if you’d like to join with an apprentice (such as warrior, elder, loner/rogue).
x. Plots. Please don't start any major (i.e., entire-clan affecting) plots without asking myself or a mod. Smaller plots between a few characters are welcome though, and I would love to hear any ideas you might have, though I can't guarantee they'll all be put into effect. ^.^
. j o i n i n g .
I'm glad to see you're interested in Summitclan! THIS is the link to the joining page, but I will post some information for joining below so you don't go into it unaware! c:
Males in #011e41. Females in #75abe9. Nonbinary in #b4c7dd.
If your cat is open to friendships, relationships, family, previous mentors/apprentices, etc. please list what specifically they are open to, so that people can fill in those blanks for you!
Since I trust that you're truly reading everything, please put "The cold is in our bones." under a spoiler somewhere in your joining post, just as a bit of proof! EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that, for mobile users, putting the code in a spoiler is not possible. Therefore - if you are a mobile user, feel free to message the code to me! As long as I see it in some way, you will be accepted for sure!
Currently, we are not accepting any more than one queen, and only a few kits who lost their mother. Please do not join as as either of these without asking me, or at all if they have been filled up.

. h i s t o r y .
Our story begins not on the mountain's peak, but at its base. A small group of cats, only about ten to their number, were traveling to who know's where. They were starving and weak, just desperate enough to start eating the carrion food they found left behind by predators. Their guide and leader, Summit, was the most desperate of them all. He felt the weight of these cats' lives on his shoulders, so much so that some believe he was truly carrying their spirits for them.
Then, one night, a cat came to him in his dreams. Stars littered her pelt, and her eyes glowed with the light of a thousand moons. She called him Summitstar, a born warrior destined to lead his clan to greatness. But Summit didn't believe her - he was leading these cats to their deaths. How was he supposed to be a good leader when he couldn't even keep them safe from the cold air around them? The starry cat hushed him, and told him about a trail up the mountainside, more dangerous than anything they had faced so far. But, she whispered to him, if you can make it, you will find your home. Summitclan will thrive in the freezing winds of the mountain's peak, but only if you can get them there.
Summit thought long and hard, and a few days later, he decided to follow her advice. True to her word, their ragtag group of cats came upon a hollow in the mountainside only a moon and a half later, just below the peak of the mountain so many of them had fallen to. They settled there, and for many generations now they have survived whatever comes their way. Summit became Summitstar, the first leader of Summitclan, and chose his sister Juniper as his deputy. Their brother Hare took the mantle of medicine cat. Together, the three siblings passed their knowledge and skills down so that now they fall on you.
Can you handle the cold? Or will your warm blood fall to the freezing winds, like so many before?
. a b o u t s u m m i t c l a n .
Summitclan, as stated previously, is a clan that settled on the peak of Mount Windsor, a large mountain in the northern part of what we would call Canada. They make their home in a hollow cavern, just below the summit of the mountain, and get around through tunnels underground and dangerous trails on the mountainside.
The cats of Summitclan are large, bulky, and long-furred, otherwise they wouldn't survive. The most common bloodline is that of the Norwegian Forest Cat, though many other breeds have been introduced into the gene pool since our beginning. Our cats typically have either dark or very light fur, from grays and blacks to whites and creams, and usually only tabby patterns. Tortoiseshells and calicos are almost unheard of, and cats with brown bases are pretty uncommon. Our paw pads are very rough and resistant to the harsh rocks of the mountainside. The most common eye colors are amber and blue, though green has been seen from time to time. Our cats are very loyal to their clan, and to their religion - almost no one lacks a belief in Starclan. Traditionally, Summitclan is not the most accepting of loners and rogues, but they have been known to allow such cats in when the time arises.
Season ;;
[ ] - New Leaf [ ] - Green Leaf [ x ] - Leaf-Fall [ ] - Leafbare
Prey ;; - Rabbits - Voles - Small birds - Mice - Fish - Bats
Predators ;; - Wolves (rare) - Snow leopards/mountain lions (rare) - Bears (rare) - Birds of prey (uncommon) - Wild Dogs (common)
Dangerous Animals (not prey or predator) ;; - Caribou - Mountain goat (can be taken down with a large enough party, but rare)
. t e r r i t o r y .
Summitclan's territory is very simple - it covers the uppermost peak of Mount Windsor, though in some areas it does dip down to small valleys. It also takes up almost the entirety of the inside of the mountain, connected by tunnels for easy access.
Juniper Hollow - a large cavern about three tunnels down from the camp, where the first deputy, Junipershade, began the training of the first apprentices. It is full of ledges and holes, so it provides the perfect opportunity to learn both climbing and fighting skills. Bitter Trail - a large portion of the trail around the mountain, where most prey can be found. It was named for the bitter cold of the winds, as this trail passes through two separate peaks, and draws in the cold air much more than any other area. Broken Ice - a lake, usually covered in small patches of ice, about a quarter-day's walks down the trails. It lies in a small valley, and is full of fish that the cats like to catch. Don't stay in the water too long, though, or you might freeze through. Glittering Pass - the tunnel that leads to the Ice Pool, and one of the only tunnels that is full of gems and minerals. It connects directly to the medicine den at the camp. Ice Pool - at the end of the Glittering Pass is a large cavern, though not as large as the camp. In the middle of it is a waterfall that trails from an opening at the top of the cave and pools into a large pond, which is full of sapphires and other blue-ish gems. It gets its name from the icy look of the gems when the moonlight hits them.
More will be added as we discover them!
. c a m p .
The clan's camp is in a large cavern in the mountainside, connected by tunnels and widespread. Each 'den' is a small hollow in the walls of the cavern, with the leader's den being at the back of a large ledge, from which the leader makes announcements. At the forefront of the cavern, beside the exit to the mountainside, are the warriors' den and the apprentices' den. Towards the back of the cavern are the nursery and the elders' den. The medicine cat's den is opposite the leader's, and connects directly to the Glittering Pass through a tunnel in the back. The fresh-kill is usually piled into a small dip in the ground, in the middle of camp.

N e w B l o o d - - active
The clan recently suffered a massive loss - due to the warming temperatures, the snow melted much quicker than usual and flooded their cave. They lost many cats in the flooding, and their numbers are dwindling even further thanks to sickness and lack of prey. They might not survive this winter.
But then, a group of loners and rogues finds their way into the territory. Tundrastar is faced with a choice - allow them in, which the clan hasn't done for many years now, or send them away and risk the extinction of his clan based on simple 'tradition'. Without a deputy, and a medicine cat with no apprentice, he must think very hard about what he will do with these so-called 'invaders'. Meanwhile, his clan is splitting down the middle. Half of them think that the loners and rogues should be welcomed, to swell the clan's ranks again. The other half thinks that the loners and rogues should be driven out, because they'll be eating prey that's already hard to come by.
What will Tundrastar do? Will he let these strangers in, to keep his clan alive and growing, or will he send them on their way, and risk facing the new dangers with ever-dwindling numbers?

A big thanks to -` gumi ´- .✫ 🐾 for allowing my to take this layout and edit it, and also for the original planning of this clan with me way back in the day. xD And also a big thanks to you for always keeping me on my toes with ideas and helping me make sure mine actually make sense!

I mean - this might sound arrogant but I did put a lot of work into this clan, so of course I'm going to credit myself. Please don't steal anything from this clan, as I will report you if I find you doing so.

Okay, so ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁 & Sand didn't exactly help with the making of this plot for this clan specifically, but honestly without their constant help and idea-pitching, none of what I come up with would come to fruition, so a very big shoutout to them!

t u n d r a s t a raccompanied by: anyone [ tag ] Tundrastar sat quietly on the Great Ledge, his eyes cast out over the camp of his clan in soft despair.
Twenty cats. They had lost twenty cats in the flood that followed the snow melt - and many more were getting sick as the days passed. Little prey, more floodwaters, and a lack of herbs meant only bad things for his clan, and Tundrastar was worried. How was he going to help his clan, when he himself had recently lost a life to the sickness spreading through their lungs. Starclan above, he only had five lives left. He'd lost three alone in the flooding.
Come on, Tundrastar. You're fine. Just go interect with your clan and act like everything's okay. If they see you losing it, they'll lose it too. Shaking out his fur, the massive tom leapt from ledge to ledge, making his way down to the cavern floor in no time. He passed the young Hailpaw and Northwind, who were sitting together quietly, and nodded his head in greeting.
Just keep pretending. Just keep hoping. Just keep praying.

n o r t h w i n daccompanied by: hailpaw & anyone[ tag ] Northwind was not commonly one to sit around and mope. She preferred to get over her grief in more productive ways. But with the death of so much prey due to the flooding, and the lack of anywhere to go that was safe, she was stuck sitting at the edge of the camp's cave, stretched out with her head on her paws. The young apprentice, Hailpaw, sat with her, chattering on about something - Northwind had stopped paying attention some time ago.
"Northwind - do you think that we'll survive the floods?" The apprentice's small voice drove Northwind from her thoughts, and she looked down at the young white tabby. Their eyes were wide, full of fear. How could Northwind ignore that?
"Of course, little one. Tundrastar is brave, and strong - Mountainstar would not have chosen him as his successor if Tundrastar were anything but. I believe that we will make it through this. It might take some time, but we will be alright." The apprentice didn't look entirely convinced, but it was enough to get them to sit back, and to calm their breathing. It seemed they didn't noticed how shallow it had gotten.
"I hope you're right, Northwind."

N e w t s p e c kaccompanied by: tundrastar [ ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » ] Newtspeck wasn't thinking of all his worries at the point in time, at least, not yet. He was focused on placing a stack of herbs he had collected into a crack in the wall. He had collected them earlier in the morning, as he hadn't been able to sleep much. Now, he was sniffing at the damaged parts, tossing old, and replacing with the new. Once the store was clean, the gray ticked tabby tom headed out of his den, tail carelessly sweeping over the pebbles that had fallen loose from the floor and roof. He sniffed at the dimly lit cavern his den opened out to, blinking slightly as the tom noticed the leader.
Tundrastar looked tense and worrisome to the medicine cat. He twitched his ears and slowly started over to the leader, blinking softly. He flicked his tail, hoping that the leader noticed his approach. "Nice seeing you up, Tundrastar." He started before slowly sitting down beside the leader, tail sweeping over the stone floor to lay on his paws before him. "I can sense you have some... Worries on your mind." Newtspeck meowed, twitching his whiskers.
The medicine cat was indeed smaller than the leader of Summitclan. Unusually smaller. He was also less muscular- some would've thought it was the reason he was appointed medicine cat. But his connection with Starclan was also apparent moons before his apprentice ceremony. It seemed as if Tundrastar came to Newtspeck with everything as far as worries with the clan went.
Speaking up once more, Newtspeck turned his head to glance at Tundrastar. "Well, tell me what you're worrying about now? Are you worried we're still suffering from the flood?" He asked curiously. He hadn't lost any family, as far as he knew. He did, however, recall that many had. Cascadefall had lost her mate and kits. Frecklekit and Cariboukit had lost their parents. He did feel pity for them, but he knew what it was like to loose someone he loved.
Ears flattening at the reminder of Rockpaw's demise, Newtspeck had a low growl form in his throat, but he let Tundrastar speak now. He was going to hold his tongue. Everyone loses someone they love eventually. All cats die, we should just get over it. He thought bitterly, yellow eyes narrowing in annoyance.

Tundrastar couldn't help it - he let out a small purr at Newtspeck's observant nature. Of course the medicine cat would know something was bothering Tundrastar. He'd been so intelligent, even as a kit, that Tundrastar had known long before Newtspeck's apprentice ceremony what path he would follow. It also helped that the medicine cat at the time had been looking for an apprentice for moons, at that point.
"Nothing gets past you, does it my friend? Even as a kit you could tell when something was bothering me. Yes, I'm worried about the flooding. We've lost so many friends already - and now we're losing even more to sickness. Just a few days ago you had to help keep me from losing more of my lives. What are we to do Newtspeck?"
Tundrastar's eyes were filled with pain at this point. He could remember the cries for help as his subjects drowned in that water. Their screams haunted his sleep - every night he woke up to a new cat standing at the entrance to his den, stars dripping from their pelts like the water that had stolen them from him.
"I don't know how Mountainstar did it - losing cats and moving on. I see them when I sleep, Newtspeck. Even - even young Fogpaw visits me. He was the last son of my predecessor, and your apprentice. And I couldn't save him, Newtspeck. I couldn't get to him in time. His death is on my paws. All of their deaths are. I wasn't fast enough."
His voice broke - evidence that he was fighting back the ache in his throat, tears building up behind his eyes. He wasn't lying, when he blamed himself. Tundrastar had tried to swim out to those that he'd lost. He'd tried to get to them, to pull them from the water since he was the strongest swimmer. But he hadn't made it. Each cat that had drowned, had drowned because he'd been too slow.
Too slow. Too slow. Too slow. It cycled through his thoughts like a mantra, reminding him day in and day out how completely unfit he was to be a leader - and now he didn't even have a deputy. He kits with no parents, apprentices with no mentors, and a medicine cat with no one to train. How could he save his clan now?

(Hello! Glad to be here. A question before I start: I see the last few roleplay posts have always included a picture and a very specific format. Is that the format required for roleplay posts? If so I cannot use that format on a mobile device)
