sylveeon I can accept if you're alright with Juniper being a warrior and maybe a part-time med cat like Brightheart ended up being..because we do have both our med cat and an apprentice already picked out. SmugGull Yea that'd be cool.
FOR THE RIVAL GROUP: We can add some cats to that too and later I'll add a section, but let's wait a few in game days before doing stuff with them because we're going a little slow on progress and I'd like for us to get the cats named and have their celebration and some bonding time before we send out any kind of problems. So I'm also going to close this to any further new players for a bit just so we can get situated. Oh, would you guys rather I match the apprentices to mentors, or would you like says in it? So far my two things are Oliver with Spirit since he's so protective and patient with her, and that the older kittypets will have their warrior names but will be kinda training as well so they can get better at stuff too.
Oh no sparkly I'm glad you're feeling better!! Look, Shorty is just here to cause general mischief and probably play matchmaker as he sees fit. Rn Jasmine is at enamored level, and tbh they're all talk and too shy to ever come out and say anything. Or maybe they'll have a panicked confession somewhere down the line because both are tropes I love with big/buff characters? They'll still respect Mimi either way and cherish the friendship. And oh! Emiko!! The lil sweetie! This is how I see Bumble btw.Shorty with Cobweb, Shadow, mostlyHolding back a snicker at his work, Shorty listened to the remaining cats around him. One seemed very concerned about fitting in. "As a whole we've only been together for one night, wouldn't say we know each other too well aside from Jasmine, Emiko, Berry and Winchester I think. Well and I know Pearl since she's my sister." As if he summoned her, Shorty watched said patchy cat strut in with Win himself, both carrying some prey. There was a glimmer in her eyes that he recognized and made a note to tease her on in private. "Jasmine? They're a huge cat who likes to play around, but I can tell that they already care about every cat here. Really something else compared to any cat I've met on the street." Pearl with WinchesterPearl had finally stopped stealing glances at Winchester as they pushed past the ferns into camp. What caught her attention instead was the sudden rise in number of young cats in their new home. She wondered where they'd come from for a moment before she began to wonder about something else. The she-cat put her mouse down and looked to Winchester once more. "Hey, what do you do to store freshkill anyway?" Mystic with SootWhile he squeezed through the fence, Mystic wondered how he'd feel if Soot did go back once they found the clan. He barely knew him, but already the darker cat was feeling like a safe place. Maybe this is just what happened when you run off and almost get yourself into trouble, first nice cat instantly feels like a friend, the young cat mused. He sat on the opposite side of the fence, hoping Soot wasn't having too much trouble getting through. Berry with FloraWhen the pregnant cat spoke Berry immediately stopped in her tracks. "Right, sorry I'm Berry. I really didn't mean to bump into you, kinda hard getting out of trees with something in your mouth," she said as she gestured to the robin a bit away. She looked at the tortoiseshell again, poor thing looked rightfully wary. Her thoughts ran quick through her mind as she tried to find a polite way to ask her questions. "Do you have anyone to help you, um, with your kits?" Badger with Tawny & MimiBadger had been following behind the queens, immensely proud of what they'd accomplished, when he saw Tawny trip. He helped her nose the moss back together and gently nudged her chin up with his muzzle. "Harder to move with so much going on inside," he meowed in what he hoped was a supportive manner. Jasmine with EmikoEmiko was right! With just a few more steps Jasmine could see their dream come to life. As they got closer, the fluffy cat slowed so they could look on at the massive moss encased rock in awe. The sun was aligned with a skylight in a way that made the area light up from the dazzling reflection of the creek. Jasmine curled their tail up and looked to Emiko with a smile. Somehow the already enchanting cat was even affected with more radiance from the light show going on. The whole thing took Jasmine's breath away. The mottled cat placed their paw on the moss, reenacting their dream as they wiped a space clear. It was a little more than enough for Jasmine to place their nose to the stone, and so they did while beckoning for Emiko to follow suit. There was so much warmth radiating from the rock that Jasmine soon found their eyes sliding shut as they fell asleep still standing. The next time Jasmine opened their green eyes they were met with a forest made of stars. A group of cats covered in the same dust stood to greet them and Emiko. One Jasmine recognized as the cat that had been trying to communicate with them, and now that it was more than a vague outline Jasmine realized it was their great-great-great grandmother. "Juniperclaw," they managed to rasp. ((Oh yea, I did change the image for the moonstone to something a little closer to what Lycaonia typed up, looks much better than the first image if anyone saw that. Image links are in green to draw attention on the first page under the "Who tells your story" section. These are ofc still placeholders until I can find it in me to draw up something to actually fit our texts.))

(I'm 100% down for Oliver being Spirit's mentor, tbh. And I was thinking that maybe Tawny should have her kits soon after the Clan officially forms so that there's a reason for Smog to show up and get beaten up by the Clan? LOL.)
"We just put it in a pile," Winchester explained, turning to look at Pearl. "It never goes off because it gets eaten so fast. We get a few spoiled pieces every now and then, but hopefully, with more mouths to feed, that problem will completely disappear," He continued.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I guess so," Tawny admitted. She gathered up the rest of her moss, and continued on towards camp. She could tell that she was very close to having her kits, and was honestly a little nervous. She'd witnessed several litters being born, and knew very well that it was painful. And what if something went wrong? There was too much that could happen!
(That's so cute and honestly that's how I picture Bumble too! I'm excited to see how she copes with being a Clan apprentice. Also as for the mentors and apprentices I don't mind either way. I'll put together a few characters for the rival group and keep them on hand for whenever we're all ready!)
BUMBLE AND COBWEB WITH THE CLAN Bumble's heart suddenly clenched; she would have to leave her housefolk behind to join SnakeClan. Her life in the city, with her friends who lived in the nests nearby, and her lovely housefolk with their sweet kit...all gone. "I...I hope so," she mewed, her voice hollowed by a sudden burst of sadness, "I'll miss them so much, and all my friends too." She glanced over at Cobweb, her best friend, who was stood across the camp talking to Shadow and Xena and looking so much happier than she'd ever seen him before. This is where he belongs, a voice in the back of her mind told her, but is it where you belong? She wanted to stay. She wanted a life of adventure, just like what Shadow had told her about living outside the confines of the city. "We can go and visit our housefolk together, when we're warriors," she decided, "and all the other housecats in the city will be so jealous of us because we'll be so big and strong and such good fighters and hunters!" She lashed her tail and dropped into a crouch, waggling her haunches before springing for the tip of a fern frond. She snagged her claws in it and dragged it down to the ground, sinking her teeth into it before realising that that probably wasn't a good idea because it tasted absolutely awful. She immediately spat, gagging and sticking out her tongue. "That's nasty, even that bird tasted way better than that!"
Cobweb took a seat as he listened to Shorty's description of Jasmine, the leader of SnakeClan whom he had yet to meet. "They sound like they'll be a great leader," he observed, rather awe-struck by how much respect the short tom already seemed to have for this cat, "were they like...in a Clan before or something? How were they chosen to be leader?" He was really interested in how the Clan actually worked: what made a cat qualified to be the leader, and how did the hierarchy function in daily life? He was also curious to meet this Emiko, who was supposed to be the Clan's future medicine cat, and was keen to find out more about being a medicine cat in comparison to being a warrior.
SOOT WITH MYSTIC Soot was overcome with relief as he got his head and shoulders through no problem, but that triumph was short-lived when he suddenly was unable to squeeze through any further. He cursed, realising that it was in fact his belly preventing him from fitting through the hole, and he dug his claws into the grass to yank himself forward. "Kittypet, don't you dare laugh," he warned his young companion, although there was no real bite in his voice. He sucked his breath in and heaved, pulling with his shoulders and gritting his teeth as the wood scraped along his skin. With one last tug he freed himself and almost collapsed into the grass, wheezing heavily. "Maybe I've been eating too well these past few days," he huffed, getting to his paws and shaking out his fur. It seemed as though he'd gotten quite a few splinters, considering he could see little droplets of blood gathering underneath his pelt, but that wasn't about to stop him. He passed Mystic where the young tom had sat down to wait for him and didn't look back until he'd already entered the treeline. "Come on then, slowpoke," he called over his shoulder, "the forest'll wither away by the time we get to the Clan if we don't get a move on!"
FLORA WITH BERRY The tortoiseshell queen tilted her head inquisitively, her gaze flickering to the carcass of the robin on the floor. Why had this cat been hunting birds in the tree anyway? What sort of strange hunting techniques had she been practicing out here? She decided not to even bother asking, because she'd sooner be caught dead than up in a tree - she had never been fond of heights. "I'm Flora," she introduced herself, more out of the obligation to be respectful to this friendly stranger than the wish to drop her guard. When Berry asked about her kits she was more than a little caught off guard; did she need somebody to help her with her kits? She knew that her mother had gone through her birthing alone. "No," she began, "I'm alone." She ran through a short list of possible motives behind Berry's sudden question; did this cat have a group that she wanted to take her back to? Did she want to steal her kits? No, Berry's friendliness seemed genuine, so that wouldn't be it. "Why do you ask?" she decided to inquire, still a little tense.
Juniper was strolling around the outside of camp, a bit too far away to notice what was happening. She had zoned off as she had done quite often, laying down and staring at a small centipede crawling near her paws. After a couple minutes she mumbled, "Might as well go do something productive rather than chasing butterflies all day.". The black she-cat jumped up and began to stray farther away, looking around and attempting to find prey. The scent of a plump mouse made all of her senses alert. She immediately dropped into hunting position, stalking the rodent. Juniper leaped, barely catching the mouse. The triumphant she-cat then picked up her prey, walking back towards what she hoped was the right direction to camp.
((I can bring in a bad guy later as well, if needs be. I'll chuck in Needlestrike, though maybe as only Needle ^^ Hope the whole Ashflower thing is alright cloudheart)) Emiko With JasmineEmiko lagged behind slightly, watching Jasmine approach the stone. Her chest swelled with pride and excitement, giddy with the feelings running through her. See Jasmine beckoning her, Emiko moved forward and lay beside her, touching her nose to the soothingly warm surface of the stone and letting her eyelids drift together. Blinking them open once more, the spotted she-cat stood in awe of her surroundings, pressing herself closer to Jasmine as one of them spoke to her Leader. Another cat approached Emiko directly, a warm smile on their starlit features. "Greetings to you, my successor," The she-cat mewed, "I am the one who sent you your vision. My name is Ashflower and I was the last Medicine Cat of GleamClan." Trembling slightly, fear and excitement flooding her body, Emiko took just a slight step away from Jasmine, bowing her head in respect to Ashflower. "I am honoured," She meowed softly in return, keeping one ear on Jasmine as they spoke to the first cat. Shadow and Oliver in Camp"We don't know much," Shadow rumbled, stretching out, "But they did say they had been given a vision from a place called 'StarClan'." The massive tom huffed as he began to groom his tattered coat. "Not sure I much believe in StarClan myself, apparently it's full of the Warrior Ancestors of the Clan that lived here before, apparently including Jasmine's own Ancestors who lived in the Clan. It's a nice thought though, so I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. In any case, Jasmine's the one who gathered everyone together, so it only makes sense that they be Leader after all the hard work." Quirking a smile at Cobweb, he continued, "Apparently once they're confirmed as Leader, Jasmine'll choose a cat to be their Deputy and the Deputy will take over as Leader when Jasmine dies." ~~~ Oliver blinked, glancing over at Shrike. He ducked his head, but glanced back over to Bumble and Spirit. A small smile turned up the corners of his muzzle as he shook his head. "No," He replied in his quiet voice, "You're right. I'm... Just being overprotective. Spirit's strong, much more than she thinks." Huffing out a pleased breath at the happy younglings, he bent down to take another bite of the bird. Swallowing, he returned it back to Shrike and cleared his throat. "Thanks," He muttered, trying to speak up a little, "For saying something... And sharing the bird." Oliver shook his head, before a familiar voice made his ears perk up and he turned to stare at the entrance to Camp. Mimi With Tawny and BadgerMimi eyed Tawny, worried about the slightly panicky way her expression was headed. Resolving to take her aside when they got back, she brushed her tail against the younger Queen's shoulder and tried to pretend she hadn't seen anything. "Not going to be inside for much longer," She laughed, glancing at the ever-increasing familiarity of their surroundings, "And I'll be glad for it. One was much easier to carry about than three, I tell you. Still, it's all worth it in the end." Her face was soft and open as she thought back to when Oliver was newly-born. How he snuggled against her side. Even back then he had been a quiet little thing and his soft mews had broken her heart and remade it into something warmer and full of love for the sweet little boy who looked so much like his father.
((Ok I'll do my best to match up mentors and apps when the time comes, and I'll be bringing in cats for Ghost's group too most def. Cannot wait for those kits to be born and for Shadow to absolutely lose it. And then ofc for Smog to get what he deserves. Lycaonia, yea the Ashflower thing is fine. I had nothing for the past medicine cat and it's a great way to solidify the choice for Emiko being the med cat.)) Pearl with Winchester"That makes sense," Pearl said while scanning the camp's ground. "Any idea what spot would be good to start a pile then?" She realized she was relying a lot on Winchester today, even for simple things. But it was good to do things as a team when you were building a clan, right? Badger back in camp businessListening to the reminiscing queen brought Badger to his brief time with his own kits. A fondness glazed his golden eyes at the thought of the delicate fluffballs that filled his heart with joy. Of course the streets were just too dangerous for two cats to raise a family on, since the group they'd been in split not long before the kits' birth, and his mate had found a family of Twolegs to take her and the kits in. It seemed they had a much better chance without the scarred tom around, and so that was the last he'd seen before leaving for the forest where he could be alone. This is just as nice though, he thought with a sniff. The tom made his way to the nursery, intent on making sure the queens had what they needed before he let the rest of the moss be divvied out.
Berry with FloraBerry's eyes flashed between sympathy and glee before she bounced on her paws. "My friends and I have started up a group, a clan really, we've been taking in cats that want to join. We have two other cats who are having kits soon. We'll be helping make sure they're all taken care of, we could help you too. We even have this amazing cat who knows how to use plants to make sure we're all healthy, she's fixed me up a lot actually.." the small cat stopped a moment to breathe and give Flora a moment to take in the whirlwind of information. "You wouldn't be stuck there, you could leave whenever you wanted. I can show you the camp if you'd like," she offered. Shorty with JuniperFeeling that things were being handled and that the "adults" were mostly all back, Shorty felt it was time to take a solo look around. He wasn't feeling checking all the way to any potential borders, but he'd like to get a better idea of the nearby area. Of course he shot one final look at his sister, checking on how badly she was embarrassing herself, the tom slipped between some rocks in a different part of camp. Short legs carried the tome a ways while he thought about the life Pearl and him had gotten themselves into. Personally he was sure he'd like this better. Running from regular-sized cats and dogs on the street wasn't an easy life, and he wasn't as fond of fighting for territory as his personality would let on. His sister on the other paw, she was used to a cozy bed and being safe from all kinds of weather and danger. She didn't like storms, how would she fair when the first one rolled around? And even with his near-constant presence in her life she was pretty sheltered to the ways of the world. He didn't get too far before running into a skinny black and white cat holding a mouse. "Oh, sorry about that," he meowed in a near monotone, reeling back from his thoughts as he shook his head. The cat looked a little familiar, was she in camp with them last night? Mystic with SootThe younger cat held his tongue as Soot squeezed through the fence, the half-hearted threat and then Soot's own comment being enough to pause his quip for the moment. He shuffled his paws quick to keep up with the bigger cat into the forest. His eyes went wide just from seeing how big everything was. His ears wouldn't stop moving, picking up noise from every inch of the area it seemed. It was somewhat overwhelming, and the little cat swallowed a lump in his throat before looking up at Soot. "You sure you haven't escaped from a Twoleg den too? You looked a little plump back there," he teased while trying to push back the nervous feeling. Jasmine with Emiko in StarClan!Juniperclaw's starry eyes sparkled, and Jasmine felt like it was with pride more than just how they looked here. "You've done so well," she said, nuzzling the living cat before smiling at Emiko. "Ashflower has been excited, watching you and knowing that you'll be the cat to care for the clan in her stead. Now we can begin." The large cat turned back to her descendant and placed her nose on their forehead. "With this life I give you confidence, remember that you and the cats you chose are greater than what any of you know." As she spoke, Jasmine felt a need to laugh. Their very fear that almost stopped them from reaching the stone was the first life they were receiving. The sharp pain they felt cut the laugh off, not being something the cat expected. Their green eyes were wide when it was over and they looked at Juniperclaw. "Sorry, I never made it far enough to know how it felt," they apologized with a dip of their head. After nuzzling Jasmine once more, she stepped back to allow another cat up. It went this way until there was just one more life left. Jasmine's sides were heaving but they knew if they were to serve SnakeClan well they needed to be able to withstand the full ceremony. The last cat to stand before them brought a cry, "Birch!" For the first time, Jasmine moved to collide with the cat here to cause them agonizing pain. "I didn't think I'd see you again," they cried. The cat, just as large as Jasmine but a little less fluffy, wrapped a leg around their shoulder in a hug. "I told you, you'll always have your ancestors watching over you in the stars." He nudged Jasmine so they'd stand back up. "You'll still see me when you need to, but for now it's time to finish this and begin GleamClan in its reborn glory," he told them. Jasmine crouched a little. "It's SnakeClan now," they mumbled, suddenly unsure if the dead cats would approve. To their surprise, Ashflower spoke up, "You received my message then." At this, Jasmine held their head high and beamed a smile. It was then that Birch placed his nose to his kit's forehead and gave them their final life. The feeling was at firs the worst of them all, followed by a warmth similar to the one they'd felt when they were a kit snuggled against their mother. Birch stepped back as Juniperclaw stood. "You have now received nine new lives, use them to lead and defend SnakeClan well and with pride. You'll have many trials ahead, but with your clanmates behind you you'll be able to overcome anything. I now hail you by your new name, Jasminestar!" The mottled cat felt their chest swell as the small group of cats chanted their new name. As Birch nudged them again they slipped out of StarClan and found themselves back at the stone.
Shrike purred in amusement, looking over to where his little sister had settled her in between two conversations and was eavesdropping shamelessly on them both. "I know the feeling. I don't think I left Xena out of my sight for a moon after leaving the Twolegplace." His hackles prickled at the memory of their hurried flight into the forest - Xena had been away from her housefolk for less than a quarter-moon and Shrike had been in no shape to fight. Ghost and her cats hadn't pursued them into the trees - but he still saw them, sometimes, at the edges. He hadn't seen Ghost herself, though - not since that night. He licked his shoulder nervously as the memory made it twinge with half-remembered pain. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Oliver look towards the camp entrance and swiveled around to follow his gaze. ~~
Xena giggled as Bumble attacked the fern and spat it out in disgust, but before she could join in on that conversation Shadow mentioned 'deputy' and immediately had her full attention. "What's a deputy do?" she asked him, peering up at him with wide green eyes. "Are they like everyone else until they become leader or do they have to do special things?"
((Poor Oliver has no idea how to act around others XD He's such an emotionally reserved momma's boy.))
Emiko With Jasmine
Emiko startled, trying to dart forward as Jasmine cried out in pain. Ashflower held her back, speaking soothingly to the cat. "Easy," The star-dappled she-cat whispered, the feeling of her pelt strange on Emiko's, "It's a part of receiving the nine lives of a Leader. All cats on this path go through it." Nodding, Emiko stood back and watch in proud, fearful silence as her friend went through the repeated painful blessings. She cheered with the others as Jasmine received her new name. 'Jasminestar is going to take some getting used to,' She mused as she watched Jasmine fade from StarClan. She turned to Ashflower, expecting the Medicine Cat to send her on her way, but found her smiling warmly.
"Emiko of SnakeClan," Ashflower meowed, standing taller, "You do not have the full knowledge a Medicine Cat should have, but your Clan will need the security of one. It is tradition for a Medicine Cat to be named by their mentor rather than their Leader and I would be honoured if you would allow me to name you." Emiko blinked, stepping back momentarily, before her ears shot up and she grinned. "The honour would be mine," She replied, bowing her head. She felt Ashflower approach, pressing her muzzle to Emiko's forehead. It wasn't the giving of a life as it had been for Jasmine, just affection for the rebirth of Ashflower's beloved Clan.
"Your mother called you Lily once," The once-grey cat mewed quietly, shocking Emiko, "I think it is time to honour a mother's wish in this, rather than a twoleg's." Standing back, the starry she-cat raised her head as more cats surrounded them. "I, Ashflower, Medicine Cat of GleamClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look upon this she-cat," Ashflower was almost purring the words, beaming across at her, "Emiko. Do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to give honest Counsel to your Leader when asked, to heal and protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do," Emiko mewed, voice shaking as she stood before them. Ashflower nodded reassuringly, making Emiko straighten as she spoke, "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your true name as a Medicine Cat. Emiko, from this moment you will be known as Lilyfern. StarClan honours your Courage and Devotion, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of SnakeClan." The cats around her cheered and Ashflower pressed her muzzle to Emiko - Now lilyfern's - cheek. "I will be watching over you, my successor," She meowed, pulling back as Lilyfern's eyes drifted shut, "Call on me if you need my guidance." Blinking awake, Emiko pushed herself to her paws, scrambling back in surprise. She turned to look at Jasmine. At Jasminestar. A grin broke over her features as she laughed in delight and disbelief, throwing herself towards her friend and burying her muzzle in Jasminestar's neck.
Shadow and Oliver in Camp
Shadow huffed, glaring teasingly at Xena. "You ask a lot of questions," He grumped, reaching out to scrub a paw over the she-cat's head. He heaved a fake sigh, flopping to the ground. "Eagle!" He called to the tom, "Come answer these, will you? You've actually been in a Clan before. I only know what Jasmine and the others have told us."
Oliver saw Shrike turn nervous from the corner of his eye. Cursing himself for his reserved nature, he frantically wondered what to do. He heard that much-loved voice grow nearer and, half-panicked on the inside, he reverted to doing what he would do when his mother needed comfort. Whirling around, he reached out and rubbed his cheek against Shrike's, a stuttering purr joining the brief contact, before the young tom dashed away, flushing hotly with embarrassment as he barrelled over to where his mother was just entering Camp.
Mimi With Tawny and Badger
Emerging into Camp, Mimi took a deep breath, pleased at the scents of so many cats. She was about to follow Badger to the new nursery, when a red shape skidded to a halt nearby, before throwing itself forward to twine around her, half-hiding from the group he just came from. Mimi chuckled, leaning down to nuzzle Oliver. "Well, I missed you too," She purred as he glanced up at her, green eyes slightly panicked as they kept darting back the way he came. Mimi raise her head, grinning over at the small group around her fern bundle.
(Awwwwww! Oliver is such a nervous dork, I love him. Shrike is...getting there, lmao. Slowly.) Xena's dismay was immediately overshadowed by the words you've actually been in a clan before and she spun around to peer in the direction Shadow had called. "He has?" she asked excitedly. "Really? What was it called? What happened to it?" Her ears flattened. "Should I not have asked that?" she asked anxiously, peering back at Shadow. She didn't want to hurt this Eagle person, especially if they were going to tell her all about clan life. ~~ Shrike froze at the unexpected contact, any possible response freezing about halfway down his throat. Instinct took over as Oliver fled the scene (Shrike didn't blame him) and he bounded over to Xena, getting halfway there before remembering the bird and darting back to snatch it up. Xena stared at him as he approached. "What's wrong with you?"
(Squee!!! SnakeClan is taking shape at long last!!!)
"Let's start a pile... here," Winchester mewed, padding over to a patch of sandy ground near a fern bush. It was as good a spot as any, and they could always move it if they had to. The sandy ground would absorb any extra moisture from the prey, too, and preserve it for longer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eagle smiled softly, padding over to the group. "It's okay," He mewed reassuringly to Xena. "I was in a Clan as a kit. It was called FernClan," He mewed, reminiscing. "But... the camp was destroyed in a forest fire. We were forced to disband." He paused for a moment, before continuing. "So! You had questions?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tawny continued through the camp and towards the nursery, her nesting instincts taking over. Once she was in the nursery, she split the moss that she had into half, placing one half just outside to be used later. She immediately began to craft her own moss into a nest for herself, entirely focused on the task - she needed her kits to be safe.
FLORA WITH BERRY Flora listened carefully to the ginger she-cat, ears pricked with interest but her body language still betraying her wariness. "Others carrying kits?" she repeated. She paused for a moment, thinking. "Well, it would be nice to be with other expecting mothers, it's...hard, carrying kits alone," the tortoiseshell admitted, her shoulders drooping a little. What this Berry was describing sounded far too good to be true even if she did want to believe it, and she wanted to so much. She bit her tongue, thoughts and anxieties and possibilities flashing through her head at the speed of sound. "Alright," she decided finally with a heavy sigh, "I'll come with you to this...group - to see what it's like," she agreed. "but only as long as I have your word that I'll be able to leave if that's what I decide." Perhaps this would be a good thing, she tried to reason with herself, I'll have a place to give birth to my kits, and cats to help me take care of them for a little while until they're bigger, and if I don't feel comfortable there then I can leave at any time like Berry said. Maybe they'll all be as friendly as Berry. She hoped they would, because she thought she could grow to like Berry. "Where is your 'camp'?"
SOOT WITH MYSTIC Soot raised a large paw and cuffed Mystic over the ears, shooting a half-hearted glare at the young tom. "Is that any way to talk to your elders?" he scolded lightly with a roll of his eyes. "To answer your question, kittypet, I've been having quite a lot of good luck stealing from my ever so generous neighbours; they never catch me and they can never prove it was me, so they usually end up fighting among themselves. Half of them probably don't even know I live so close," he chuckled, shaking his head, "but that's a good thing." Now there was a possibility that he wouldn't have to live like that any longer, if he decided the Clan was for him. He'd never have to worry about Scar or River or Angus ever again. Sounds like heaven. "Thought about becoming a kittypet when I was young and stupid, reasoned it'd be a lot easier than living on the streets behind a dumpster. Visited a twoleg nest, wanted them to notice me and feed me, maybe take a liking to me. They took my sister Rose instead and left, and I never saw her again. Never wanted the kittypet life since," he grunted, casting a quick glance over his shoulder at Mystic. He felt bad for the poor kit, even if he would never say it to his companion out loud. "We shouldn't be too far away, kittypet," he murmured, "if you get hungry just give us a shout, 'kay?"
BUMBLE WITH THE CLAN "Yeah, plants taste yucky," Bumble decided, still trying to scrape the taste of the fern from her tongue with her paw pad. She began to lick at her fur, hoping to rid herself of the awful flavour. "Woah!" she spun round to face Xena and Eagle, eyes wide with awe, "I want to be a deputy one day! That sounds so cool! Maybe I could be leader too!" She gave an excited bounce, her tail waving with excitement. She looked at Spirit again, beckoning for the white she-cat to step out of the grass and come and join the rest of them. "We're learning about deputies and leaders, Spirit! Would you ever wanna be a deputy or a leader?"
BUMBLE WITH SPIRIT AND THE CLAN The little tabby purred loudly as her new-found friend joined her, and she beamed up at the ever-so-slightly larger she-cat. As Eagle spoke again Bumble gazed at him with round eyes, doing her best to absorb every single word that left his mouth. Learning about Clans and leaders and deputies and warriors was so much fun! She wanted to learn as much as she could, so that she'd be able to be a really good apprentice! I'll be the smartest, the fastest, the strongest, and the bravest one day! she told herself with firm decisiveness, puffing out her chest. "What's StarClan, mister Eagle?" she asked, tilting her head curiously.
Xena blinked. She remembered Shadow saying something about StarClan - "They're the uh - the dead cats, right?" she tried. "Um, Shadow had a word for it...ant...ants...something!" She kneaded the ground in frustration.
Shrike watched in amusement. He couldn't remember what Shadow had said either, but he wasn't going to tell Xena that.
"Oh, it's no problem." Juniper nodded curtly. This tom seemed a bit familiar, so she decided he was probably from the rogue group. She felt as if she would be rude if to walk away without another word, so the molly dropped the prey she caught about a rabbit-hop from her paws. "Want that mouse? I'm not hungry and I wasn't sure if somebody at camp would of wanted it." The black and white speckled she-cat said as she curled her fluffy tail around her paws.
(( I'm pretty sure half the time I take replying is just scrolling my blog for memes, but here's Oliver)) Jasminestar with Lilyfern :D :D :D As the spotted cat threw herself at Jasminestar, the fluffy cat wrapped a foreleg around her and laughed loudly. They placed their head on the medicine cat's. "What was it Ashflower called you, Lilyfern now? That's such a wonderful name!" They were ecstatic. StarClan had indeed approved of the two of them, and now they could carry on the former clan's glory while helping others. SnakeClan. Their body swelled with pride so much they thought they'd explode. Body tingling from excitement, Jasminestar let go of Lilyfern and hopped in a dancing manner. It was official and finally they were sanctioned to make their new friends warriors and lead them under the guidance of their ancestors. "Race ya back to camp?" Mystic with SootFeeling the paw brush his ears, Mystic snorted. Eyeing the tom, he guessed he wasn't even middle-aged yet. But of course Mystic wasn't even an adolescent and was primed in his snark, so he continued to tease anyway. "Sure you can catch anything on your own, old tom?" With every step he took with Soot, he became more sure that he'd miss the tom if the parted ways. He supposed that was life, but still. Pearl with WinchesterSetting her mouse down in the sand patch, Pearl looked at Winchester and purred. "Seems like a good idea." Movement from across camp caught her attention, and her head swerved to find out what it was. She'd moved in time to see Oliver wrapped around his mom. The white and patched cat giggled. She liked this group of cats she and Shorty had joined. Figuring there wasn't much else to do for the moment, Pearl turned back to Winchester one last time. "Well, thanks for helping me hunt today," she said with a dip of her head. After that she followed the other two cats carrying moss in hopes of putting herself to more use. Badger with the clanAfter a small startle of Ollie's appearance, Badger gave Mimi a warm smile around the fern he was gently carrying and followed Tawny to the nursery. He put the moss down and watched the tortoiseshell for a moment before slipping back out to the main camp. The large tom snipped a few bracken fronds and reentered the nursery. He placed some of them next to Tawny's growing nest before starting on Mimi's while she was busy. Shorty with Juniper[/i] Taken somewhat aback, Shorty stammered. "Um, wh-why don't you bring it back with you?" This cat is with us isn't she? I guess I could be wrong, he thought as he looked from the mouse to the cat. Blinking he realized that either way he didn't know this cat and should be nice and introduce himself, especially if she had been in the group last night. "I'm Shorty by the way, for now at least." Berry with FloraWhiskers twitching, Berry pointed her tail to her left. "Not too far that way," she said before moving to get in front of her robin. "And don't worry, Jasmine would never hold a cat hostage. They don't believe in stuff like that." The tiny cat started slow steps back south until she was sure Flora was following, but her pace never got to where it'd be too fast for a pregnant cat to keep up with easily.
SOOT WITH MYSTIC The grey tom snorted, throwing his head back with a laugh. He liked Mystic, the kittypet had a lot of spunk and even without his claws, Soot was beginning to think it wouldn't be so difficult for him in the forest. "Trust me, kittypet," he hummed, "I've caught more mice than you've had meals." Soot didn't pride himself on his hunting - in fact, he was rather mediocre, but he got by. "Y'know, my pa once caught a hawk," he mewed, grinning at Mystic, "taught me how you take 'em down and everything, but I've never had the chance to try. Maybe I'll use you as bait to try my luck." He chuckled, rolling back his shoulders so he could relax a little; he'd been far too tense for far too long.
FLORA WITH BERRY Flora followed Berry cautiously, keeping a few strides behind the ginger she-cat. If this turned out to be the worst decision she'd ever made, she doubted she'd be able to outrun Berry, but she hoped she wouldn't have to try. She decided to talk to her new companion - couldn't hurt to learn more about where they were going, right? "Where do you all live?" she asked, trying to envision what their 'camp' would look like in her head, but she just couldn't figure out how so many cats would live together in the forest.
((That is hilarious and also very, very true XD Poor Oli and his aversion to Feelings))
Lilyfern With Jasminestar
The newly named Lilyfern laughed brightly at her now-official Leader. Jasminestar's kit-like hopping dance made her want to bounce along. Instead, the spotted Medicine Cat crouched down, grinning playfully. "Bet I'll beat you!" She chirped, knowing full well it was highly unlikely - Jasminestar was in much better shape than the skinny Bengal - But not really caring about semantics. Instead, she giggled and took off without waiting, grinning back over her shoulder as she headed back downstream.
Shadow, Oliver and Mimi With The Clan
Oliver huffed, turning his head away embarrassed, not meeting his mother's eyes. The cream Queen chuckled, setting her bundle down. "Why don't you take this to the Nursery while I go introduce myself," She said, giving him a way out. The young tom shot her a grateful look, before grabbing the bundle and dashing over, bounding past Pearl. He nodded to the slightly older she-cat and slipped into the newly dug out space. He padded over to Badger, setting down the moss his mother entrusted him with. "Need help?" He murmured, tilting his head towards the nests.
Watching her son bound away, Mimi shook her head in amusement and turned towards the bigger group. "Well now," She purred, expression warm and voice gentle as she padded up to them, "What's all this then. Seems like we've got some new cats around these parts." She smiled at Shrike, Xena, Cobweb and Bumble in turn. "I'm Mimi," She introduced herself, fluffy tail waving in a friendly greeting, "You all have met my son, Oliver, I believe."
"Aye, they've met him," Shadow chuckled from where he was lazing around, keeping an eye on the three youngest cats as a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. Mimi eyed him, causing the massive tom to clear his throat and turn away. Mimi sighed fondly, shaking her head.
((Sparkly yea that's what we're doing. this is the fun clan and everyone gets to go and hang out with the dead cats like the good series did. i think they'll take the older cats to the stone tomorrow-in game? also everyone, i know my posting is already erratic but i might be switching to a new job that's 3rd shift starting monday so i'm not yet sure how i'll be adjusting everything else in life. just a heads up)) Mystic with SootMystic's gray-tipped ears swiveled forward as his chest puffed out. "I'd like to see a hawk try to grab me," he meowed with bravado. As his tail unfurled he wondered if he would be able to fight off a hawk, or any other predator, should he need to. A heavy mixed scent of cat was starting to fill the young cat's nose as he thought of another question. "You ever know any declawed street cats?" Berry with Flora"Oh there was this kinda big clearing we found behind some ferns down this way. Nice tree with a creek flowing next to it. Me and Badger dug out a spot in this little dip for the nursery, I hope you like it when you see it," Berry rambled. They were extremely close now, enough that Berry was actually grabbing a fern and pulling it out of Flora's way. Her eyes shimmered as she sat back to allow the queen entry. Pearl & Badger with Tawny & OliverTurning his head, Badger let out a quiet purr. "Actually yeah. Either of you ever make nests from moss and bracken?" Yellow eyes wide, Pearl shook her head. She'd only nested in her Twolegs' extra fur when they put them in baskets. Not that they seemed to like it too much, but it was so soft and felt so safe. She wondered how different moss was from that. Jasminestar with Lilyfern"Cheater!" Jasminestar roared with laughter, twisting so their body was facing the right direction. With longer legs they caught up with ease. The fluffy cat did hold back a bit for a while though, weaving around some trees and hopping through foliage. Playing set them back a bit, but as Jasminestar dashed a few steps past Lilyfern in the creek they decided the fun was worth it.
(Good luck!)
Shrike dipped his head in Mimi's direction, still a little flustered. The remains of the bird he'd shared with Oliver lay forgotten at his feet. "Er, yes," he said. "He seems...nice," he ventured. Conversation had never been his strong suit. Either he talked too much, talked to little, or talked about the wrong thing.
Xena had no such reservations. "Hello, Mimi!" she chirped, waving her tail. "I'm Xena - Shrike's my brother," she added, pointing her tail at the tall, awkward idiot she shared a father with. "Shadow brought us here earlier - he brought Bumble and Cobweb too," she added, indicating each cat as she mentioned them.
SOOT WITH MYSTIC The large tom thought for a moment, genuinely wondering if he'd ever met any such cats; he had met an awful lot of cats on the street, but he could never recall all of them. "Truth be told, kittypet, I don't remember. I probably have done, now that I think about it, but nobody springs to mind. Met plenty of declawed kittypets though, but they'll never have to worry about hunting and fighting off dangerous animals unless they found themselves in the wrong alleyway," he explained to Mystic, glancing sideways at the young tabby. He bristled slightly at the sudden invasion of so many scents mingling in the air at once. "We must be close," he voiced his observation out loud, feeling his muscles tense beneath his coarse grey fur. I wonder how they'll take to the two of us, he wondered, if they're hostile, I'll be the only one able to fight, and I can count the fights I've actually been in on two paws. "Oh, and you'd absolutely be hawk food," he retorted teasingly, "but don't worry, I doubt we'll see any hawks any time soon."
BUMBLE AND COBWEB WITH THE CLAN "Hiya, miss Mimi! I'm Bumble!" Bumble chirped, perking up immediately at the she-cat's introduction. She looked friendly, and they had a similar coat colour! Granted, Mimi was much paler in shade and without the thick black tabby stripes, but it made Bumble happy to know that she looked like she could be a part of the Clan even though she came from her housefolks' nest. "Yeah, we met Oliver, he's really nice! I think Shrike makes him nervous, though," she admitted, tilting her head to the side.
Cobweb dipped his head to the cream-coloured queen, his pelt pricking with nervousness. He was more than a little out of his depth meeting all these new cats, as he never really interacted with anybody back in the city with the exceptions of Bumble - of course - and a couple of the cats who lived nearby who didn't terrify him, like Molly who lived a couple of streets away from his box in an old abandoned twoleg nest with her sister. "Hullo," he murmured, finally lifting his head to make brief eye contact with Mimi, "it's nice to meet you, my name is Cobweb."
FLORA WITH BERRY IN THE CAMP Flora took a quick step back as Berry moved to lift the fern, eyeing the gap beneath the foliage with blatant suspicion. "Are you sure it's safe?" she asked the ginger she-cat hesitantly, although she was already steeling herself to duck underneath the frond and just get it out of the way. She gulped, taking a deep breath, and slipped beneath the ferns, her swollen stomach brushing the ground beneath her as she did so. She gasped, both in surprise and terror at the sight of so many cats gathered in the clearing - she had picked up many scents on her way in, but they had been so mixed together that she had been unable to discern just how many there were. Regardless, she had not been expecting a group of this size. A large black tom with shredded ears and a heavily scarred pelt lounged in the grass by a group of young cats, one of whom had a bright blue collar on that she could see from all the way across the clearing. A black-and-white tom spoke with a smaller tabby she-cat on their other side, and the pair were by a dip in the ground with what looked to be a pile of moss nearby. On closer inspection, Flora noticed that the she-cat was pregnant and looked incredibly close to birthing, and immediately she sighed with relief; Berry had not been lying after all.
"I do not!" Shrike yelped. "Do I?" he muttered, dipping his head to whisper to Xena.
"Maybe a bit," Xena admitted. "Or maybe he's just like that?" She didn't think Shrike was intimidating, but then she'd seen Shrike jump out of his fur at the sight of his own shadow, so maybe that had something to do with it.
