SOOT WITH MYSTIC Soot frowned, bunching his hindquarters and leaping for the top of the fence. He clawed his way up relatively easily having done it so often - darn twolegs and their hole-fillers - and balanced himself beside Mystic. "Kittypet," he began lowly, his voice dark with concern, "did they get your claws?" He peered at the young tom's paws, and although his hind claws were still unsheathed, his forepaws remained soft. Soot's suspicions had been pretty much confirmed even before the kit opened his mouth, because he had seen the way he'd tried so hard to grip the fence but had failed, but now he was certain that the twolegs had butchered this poor kitten. He snarled, hackles raising, "Those twolegs, they think they can just do that to any cat they get their grubby mits on," he spat, "it's filthy." He took a breath to calm himself and looked back at Mystic. "Let's go, kittypet, I'll get you out of this place." He sprang from the fence, landing on the yellowish grass on the other side, and waited for his companion to join him. How could Mystic defend himself at all in a place like this with no claws? His best chance was the Clan - they would be able to accommodate him, surely?
BUMBLE AND COBWEB WITH THE CLAN Bumble leaped up, fur on end, but quickly steeled herself and attempted to smooth down her ruffled fur. "I'd like to see you try and eat me!" she crowed, eyes gleaming. She looked briefly at each new face and trotted a little closer, the bell on her collar tinkling, raising her head so she could keep eye contact. "I'm Bumble, but mister Shadow says I'm going to be Bumblepaw!" she mewed brightly, "It's nice to meet you all! Are you all warriors? I thought you'd all have cooler names, like Clawfang or Bloodtooth." She cocked her head to one side and twitched her whiskers, pausing for a moment before perking up again. "Mister Shadow sir," she turned around to peer owlishly up at the large tom, "how many more cats did you say there were?"
Cobweb greeted the strange cats with a hesitant mew and a dip of his head. "H-Hello," he mewed, "thank you for having us." He took a moment to put each of the names that Shadow had given them to a face, and was quickly able to work out who was Shorty, who was Eagle and who was Oliver. Shorty was unusually small for a cat, Cobweb noted with surprise - Bumble is almost his height! Oliver was the bright ginger tom, and Eagle was the light brown cat with scars all over his pelt. The pale tom felt rather self-conscious of his own, scar-free pelt; he looked like a kittypet, and he supposed the SnakeClan cats wouldn't believe him if he told them he wasn't, even if he didn't have a collar like Bumble's.
FLORA The fact that Flora could smell other cats was not comforting in the slightest. She had built her newest nest beneath the tangled roots of this old tree stump in the hopes that she wouldn't have to run away from the next lot of cat scents she encountered. The tortoiseshell queen pushed herself to her paws and peeked out from her hiding place, glancing around with wide and wary eyes. She slipped out into the open and paused for a moment to listen. She could not hear anything, which meant that these strange cats were not close enough to her for her to be too worried, but she was more than a little startled by the sudden presence of foreign scents on the wind. She would have to move, she decided, she could not stay here where she might be found; how could she give birth to her kits knowing that there were strangers nearby whose intentions she was unclear of - what if they were as bad as the cats in the city? What if they tried to take her kits when they were born? Or kill them? She cast one final glance back at the place she had thought would be her home with an exhausted sigh, and continued on her way.

((I should think about updating the relationship section soon, was gonna wait until I worked a couple of cats up but I think with a nice confirmed crush it can be time. Oh is the Oli/Shrike gonna be mutual or should I keep it one-sided for now? SPARKLY WELCOME BACK YOU'VE BEEN MISSED!!!))
Shorty with so many catsAt Shadow's introduction of the group, Shorty looked over his pelt and then the older tom's. "Who's he calling mangy?" the stubby tom muttered while watching the interactions continue. He took high interest in how quiet Oliver looked panicked and quickly turned to groom himself. He was about to make a quip when a rumbling caught his attention. The vertically challenged tabby slid up to Shrike with a grin. "Sounds like you could use a fresh bite, why don't you take one of Shadow's birds and go settle next to that fox over there? He hasn't eaten today either," he suggested quietly, pointing with the half of his tail that was still attached. "Jas went off with Emiko, something about dreams or visions. Said they'd be back by Sunhigh maybe," he said louder in response to Shadow's question.
Jasmine with EmikoThe pressure against their fur worked to calm the fluffy cat. They smiled and nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, with you and Eagle I should be just fi-" Jasmine halted with a paw in the air. "Huh, guess I know who my deputy will be after all. Em, I think this is meant to be." Feeling like a dog was lifted from their shoulders, the mottled cat set back on track for the billionth time. The difference now was that they were humming gleefully. Badger with Mimi & TawnySeeing what the queen had devised, Badger set his moss down. "Say now there's an idea," he mrrowed. The bulky tom inspected the contraption before getting his own fern leaf to copy it. "Tawny, look it's marvelous!" Mystic with SootHis secret revealed, not that he thought he'd be able to keep it long out here, Mystic bowed his head in shame. What was a cat with their claws? Thankful that the trip down was easier, he settled next to Soot. Not wanting to keep the silence hanging over them, he cleared his throat and looked up at the tom. "So you gonna go back to your alley after we find the clan?" Berry with FloraTail lashing at the latest bird to get away, Berry sighed. Well, one is better than none, she thought with a forlorn glance to the one stiff robin at the beginning of the branch. Another sigh and she picked up her catch and started back down the tree. With the bird in her mouth it was a little difficult to see. Though she tried to keep her footing, Berry felt herself stumble the last few lengths down. A yowl sent the dead bird flying, and the small cat thumped against something furry. Looking up from her place on the ground, the ginger was shocked to see what she hit was a plump tortoiseshell. She immediately jumped to her paws and began examining the unfortunate cat. "Ohmygosh I'm so sorry are you okay? Oh Emi's gonna kill me when she finds out I knocked into a pregnant cat!" Pearl with WinchesterEven though her only catch of the day was a mouse, Pearl couldn't help but feel proud. Sure another squirrel got away, but she was sure once she figured out how to climb trees those would be less of an issue. I'll bet I can learn to catch anything with Winchester's help, she thought as she glanced at the ginger and brown tom, carrying his own prey as they neared camp. The patched cat couldn't help a low purr coming from her.

(I love Shorty so much. Keep Oli/Shrike one-sided for now, but there is a distinctly non-zero chance that it will become mutual later. Shrike just needs to settle down a bit before he's gonna notice Oliver.)
"Er - " Shrike hesitated. Xena butted her head against his shoulder. "Go eat!" she hissed. "You mouse-brain! I knew you hadn't eaten yet!"
Bowing to the will of his younger sister, Shrike picked up one of the birds that Shadow had brought back and padded over to the ginger tom, dropping it down between them. "Care to share?" he offered. "Shorty said you hadn't eaten yet either."

SOOT WITH MYSTIC "I'm not sure, kittypet," he replied truthfully, "I've never known anything other than the streets, but it's not a nice life by any means. I'll have a look at this Clan and make a decision when I get you there." The large grey tom paused a moment to sniff the air. "Just this last fence to go now, kittypet, but don't worry - there'll be no climbing involved," Soot reassured his young companion. He bounded across the stretch of grass between them and the final hurdle before they reached the edge of the twolegplace. He glanced back up at Mystic, already pushing what he knew to be a loose piece of wood out of its position. There was enough space for a small cat to slip through easily, and a large one like himself to get splinters trying. He held the wood up with a paw, motioning for Mystic to squeeze through the gap.
FLORA WITH BERRY Flora whirled on her would-be aggressor, tearing herself from underneath the weight of the strange cat and spinning on her hind-quarters, teeth bared and claws out. Her flank ached from where the stranger had fallen into her, and she would have been lying if she said she wasn't worried about her kits. Her legs trembled from the shock and every hair on her pelt stood on end as she stared down the newcomer - a small ginger cat. A quick assessment of the stranger's scent told Flora that this cat was a she-cat, and the tortoiseshell queen deflated just a little with relief; she'd had many unpleasant encounters with toms ever since she had escaped her twolegs after they'd forced her to mate with a cat she didn't know. "Who are you?" she asked, her tone clipped with wariness.

((Oh my gosh, Jasmine has a crush on Mimi! That is adorable! Not sure if Mimi's gonna reciprocate yet, she's not really feeling romantic-y to me at the moment, but who knows ^^ I'd say anything she feels would come after the kits are born and she has a chance to settle into the Clan.))
Shadow and Oliver With a Smorgasbord of Cats
A glint of amusement lurked in Shadow's gaze as he watched his future Clanmates. "That's fine then," He rumbled in response to Shorty, "Jasmine'll probably be happy to see the Clan expanding anyway." Shadow swept his tail around, brushing it against Cobweb's back. "You look a little lost," he chuckled, lowering his voice, "Calm yourself, we've cats from all over here. I'll introduce you to Emiko when she gets back, you'll like her. She's not a fighter, but I don't think any one of us would dare argue with her anyway."
He smiled warmly at Cobweb, before raising his voice to reply to Bumble. "We haven't gotten our Warrior names yet, little explorer," He purred, fondness in his tone, "And there are about thirteen of us last I counted. Since Jasmine and Emiko are away and Me, Oliver, Shorty and Eagle are here, then we're missing... Berry, Winchester, Pearl, Badger, Spirit and our two Queens - Mimi and Tawny. Spirit is about your age, so hopefully you'll get along well with her."
~~~
Oliver felt the urge to glare and hiss at Shorty, but quickly suppressed it as Shrike approached him. He sat still, fighting the urge to duck his head and avert his eyes. The fluffy red tom glanced at the bird and dredged up a smile. "Thank you," He rasped quietly, quickly debating with himself over whether to accept the offer. Deciding it would be rude not to, he opened his mouth to reply when his stomach made itself known. Oliver's ears folded back in embarrassment and he felt the heat he had been suppressing worm it's way up his neck. "I... would like to share," He murmured, pulling himself together and nudging the bird towards Shrike, "You first..."
Emiko With Jasmine
Emiko just smiled and followed Jasmine. She let the other cat's humming wash over her, along with the scent that had become so familiar to her. It felt like forever since she had met the group of cats that had basically saved her. She might have had a knowledge of herbs, but Emiko had trouble even catching mice, never mind anything bigger. Jasmine had taken her in, given her a home and a future with SnakeClan, and for that Emiko would always adore her. Part of her wished she felt things like other cats did, for she had a feeling that she'd love Jasmine in a different way than she did right now, but mostly Emiko was just so happy to have a family again, even if they weren't related by blood. Glancing at the sky, Emiko grinned. "We must be almost there!" She chirped, bouncing on her toes and nudging Jasmine in excitement.
(Oooh maybe the threat of a rogue/street cat group while the Clan is still developing might be a good idea! I'll throw in a cat or two for that if the rest of you guys think that'd be cool too.)
COBWEB AND BUMBLE WITH SHADOW AND THE CLAN Cobweb blinked at Shadow, trying to calm himself down a little. "Is Emiko your medicine cat?" he asked with a tilt of his head, "I'd like to ask her about herbs." It had been a shame he'd had to leave his little collection of herbs behind in the city, but he supposed there would be a lot more growing in the forest that he could find and examine. He paused for a moment, debating on whether or not to confide in Shadow, and then spoke again. "It's just," he began hesitantly, "these cats all seem like they'd make good warriors. And you all know each other, I only really know Bumble and that's not because of anything I did. I'm not good at making friends," he admitted. The pale tom lowered his gaze, eyes noticeably downcast. "I want to stay here - I don't want to go back to the street. I'm just worried I won't really fit in."
Bumble cocked her head inquisitively. "So we'll all get our cool names soon?" she asked, blinking owlishly up at the large tom. She gave an excited little bounce and ducked between Shadow's legs, wriggling out to the other side where she pounced for his tail, pinning the tip with sheathed paws. "I can be a warrior too! I can't wait to get my cool name!" she declared proudly, her haunches wagging from side to side where she held Shadow's tail beneath her kit-soft forepaws. The little tabby halted at the mention of another cat her own age and immediately released Shadow's tail. "Oh! I could make a friend!" She practically beamed, eyes glowing with excitement.
Xena's ears swiveled towards Cobweb as she heard him speaking. "Don't say that!" she meowed encouragingly, glancing away from Shrike . "Bumble seems like a really nice cat. I bet she'll make a ton of friends, and then they'll be your friends too!" She blinked up at Shadow. "Right?" ~~ Shrike blinked, not sure how to take Oliver's body language, but the offer seemed sincere enough so he bent down to take a bite. The taste of fresh-kill flooded his mouth and he purred appreciatively as he swallowed. He pushed the bird towards Oliver, silently indicating for the other tom to eat his share.
Cobweb glanced gratefully at Xena, his tail raising a little bit. "T-Thank you," he mumbled almost shyly, unused to the encouragement. Xena seemed nice, even if Shrike was a little standoff-ish to him. Shorty had appeared to be rather friendly too, and there was always Bumble. "I really hope so, I like it here already," he admitted with a soft, rusty purr.
Eagle was carefully watching the new cats from the edge of the group, attempting to figure out how they'd slot in. They definitely had some shy cats already in the Clan - Spirit especially. Hopefully, with time, everybody would grow used to Clan life, and learn to be warriors and apprentices.
(OPEN)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spirit was watching from a clump of ferns at the edge of the camp. She was still incredibly shy - she loved the forest, and she loved the Clan. The young she-cat wanted to learn how to hunt, fight, and pull her own weight, but she was unsure of how to do it with her lame leg. Your limp, scarred, ugly leg, she hissed to herself in her head. Ugh.
(OPEN)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tawny padded over to Mimi and Badger, carrying her own clump of moss. She dropped the moss in a pile at her forepaws, bending down to examine what the two older cats had discovered. "It'll make building nests a whole lot easier!" She purred, before excitedly biting off a fern leaf to create her own. She was already impressed - cats could achieve a whole lot more together!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Winchester glanced towards Pearl, padding alongside the younger she-cat. Well - that hadn't ended up quite as badly as he'd been expecting. At least he'd managed to teach Pearl a couple of essential hunting skills. In time, she'd learn how to hunt properly, instead of tripping over her own paws. For now, maybe he should keep teaching her.

BUMBLE WITH SPIRIT Bumble spotted a small flash of movement - brilliant white - at the very edge of the 'camp'. She tilted her head inquisitively, already moving her paws in its direction. She approached the spot where she had seen it hesitantly as though she was unsure of what lurked beyond the grass; she was surprised to come face to face with a white she-cat of a similar size to her, crouched in the ferns. "Oh, hello!" she mewed brightly, pricking her ears, "Are you part of the Clan too? My name is Bumble, I'm from the city! What's your name?"

Bumble purred, bouncing on her paws. "Nice to meet you, Spirit! Are you gonna be an apprentice too?" she asked brightly. She peered around the she-cat, and her eyes landed on Spirit's hind leg which appeared to be badly injured. "What happened to your leg?" she questioned rather tactlessly, eyes rounding with curiosity. The old cat who lived nextdoor-but-one had had a similar injury, with a twisted paw that he had never been able to use, so Bumble was by no means alarmed or repelled by this discovery.

Mouth slightly agape, Bumble stared at Spirit's leg for a few more seconds before looking back up at the white she-cat. "Y'know, all warriors should have cool scars, right?" she beamed, tail waving from side to side. She perked up immediately as Spirit stated that she thought she too would be made an apprentice, and kneaded the ground eagerly with her front claws. "We could be apprentices together!" she mewed excitedly, "It'll be so much fun!"

Shadow and Oliver With Many Cats
"Right," Shadow rumbled in reply to Xena, smiling down at Cobweb, "And yes, Emiko is our Medicine Cat. Not sure how she does it, to be honest, but I'm grateful she does." Shadow hesitated, before gently pressing his shoulder to the younger tom's, unused to showing much physical affection. "And don't worry so much," He tried to reassure him, "You'll find your place here. We're lucky to have you."
Oliver ducked down, taking a bite of the bird. He closed his eyes in appreciation. He had been hunting for his mother and himself for a while now, but birds were a bit out of his range of abilities just yet, so they had mostly been living off mice and the occasional rat. 'Birds are much better than rats,' He thought, nudging it back towards Shrike and shyly turning his head away. His ears stood up as he saw Bumble near the Camp border, talking to something. He leaned over and saw Spirit, frowning as the young she-cat seemed very nervous. "Maybe I should go over there," He whispered to himself, shifting his paws nervously.
Mimi With Tawny and Badger
Mimi purred proudly, glad her idea had helped the cats that had been so kind to her. "Let's get his lot back to Camp then," She said, hoisting her fern 'bag' into the air, "We'll probably have to come back for more, but this should get a good few nests set up."

Bumble was the first cat that she'd met in a long time who didn't seem immediately repulsed by her crippled leg. Maybe Clan life wouldn't be so bad... "I heard that we're all gonna get new names," She added excitedly. "It's gonna be so cool! Do you think that we'll get to choose our own?"

She almost immediately tripped over a stick, not being able to see where she was going. She grimaced slightly, but got back up, starting to gather up the moss that she'd dropped. "And of course I trip over my own paws..." She muttered in annoyance.

BUMBLE AND COBWEB WITH THE CLAN Bumble twitched her whiskers cheerfully. "I don't know, I hope so! Mister Shadow says I'd be called Bumblepaw, but that's just an apprentice name, right? So I'll get a cool warrior name one day! And you could be Spiritpaw!" she chirruped, shifting her weight giddily from one paw to the other. "If I could choose my name, I don't know what I'd choose, though," she admitted thoughtfully, wondering for a moment what might sound cool
Cobweb purred sheepishly and returned Shadow's small nudge with a strengthened shyness under the praise of his potential new Clanmates. "Thank you," he murmured, voice thickened with gratitude, "I'd be honoured to become a part of SnakeClan." He glanced around at the cats around them before turning back to Shadow. "Your leader - Jasmine - what are they like?" he asked with a tilt of his head, shifting his dark paws in the grass.

"That sounds cool! Lightpaw and Bumblepaw!" Bumble giggled, running an excited little circle on the spot. The small tabby paused, a momentary frown ghosting her face, "What's a kittypet?" she asked with an inquisitive tilt of her head. She had heard the term used by some of the cats who lived on the street, and by a couple of the SnakeClan cats since she'd arrived, but only ever in passing and without context.

"But you know these cats better than I do, so..." he trailed off awkwardly, suddenly feeling like he was speaking way too much.

Bumble blinked in slight confusion. "Twolegs? You mean housefolk? I've heard some cats call my housefolk twolegs," she babbled, "so I suppose I'm a kittypet too, right? I have this collar that my housefolk gave to me." She raised a paw and batted at the bell on her collar, purring as it rang out with that familiar jingle she was so used to hearing. "My housefolk are nice, they don't have dogs or anything, like some other cats' housefolk in the city!" she informed Spirit, waving her tail happily.
