I'm on episode 43. I typically only watch 2-3 episodes a day if I have the time.
FMAB is currently the only thing I'm watching as I've become too engrossed to start any other shows, so I'm getting thru it more quickly than I normally would.

Just watched the Dr Stone special and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't wait for the next season!!!! Another super good anime to add to your lists! Ed and Senku (the Dr Stone MC) have similar vibes lol

Ooo sure! Here is the synopsis: "After five years of harboring unspoken feelings, high-schooler Taiju Ooki is finally ready to confess his love to Yuzuriha Ogawa. Just when Taiju begins his confession however, a blinding green light strikes the Earth and petrifies mankind around the worldโturning every single human into stone.
Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to find the modern world completely nonexistent, as nature has flourished in the years humanity stood still. Among a stone world of statues, Taiju encounters one other living human: his science-loving friend Senku, who has been active for a few months. Taiju learns that Senku has developed a grand schemeโto launch the complete revival of civilization with science. Taiju's brawn and Senkuu's brains combine to forge a formidable partnership, and they soon uncover a method to revive those petrified.
However, Senku's master plan is threatened when his ideologies are challenged by those who awaken. All the while, the reason for mankind's petrification remains unknown."
The way it's written makes you think Taiju is the MC, but he doesn't actually play a huge part in the whole thing lmao Senku is the main focus of the series. The way characters are written is really fun, and their interactions really carry the series! I personally think the comedy is great, and I've actually learned a lot of random chemistry and stuff from it lol The main focus of the series is slowly building the blocks of some large project they need to further technology in the 'stone world'.
The animation is super pretty! Though, the female characters have that weird look where their eyes look just too far apart. Not super terrible, just a bit noticeable haha I wouldn't say there is a lot of fan service as the focus of the series is the science. It isn't fantasy, but I still think y'all would enjoy it :]
Of course it's not for everyone tho akldjfalkdjfklj I wouldn't be insulted if it doesn't sound interesting to anyone here XD

Dr Stone was great. Honestly I kinda preferred the earlier arcs to some of the later ones but I think Ryuusui is deffy one of my favorite characters throughout. Have you read the manga?

Finished FMAB today and now I don't know what to do with my life :,) Super satisfying ending. Loved the conclusion. Loved every bit of it. Ed's confession to Winry was adorable. Both brothers grew up to be fine af. Roy Must-ache. Him, Ed, and Winry ended up being my favorite characters, with an honorable mention to Lady Armstrong, Izumi, and Al <3 This anime is officially one of my top favorite shows of all time and I thank you so much for persuading me to watch it! <333 I'm sure I'll think of more to add later, but since I'm apparently unable to articulate my feelings clearly atm I'll just leave it at that for now alsdkfjsl While I don't think it's for me, Dr. Stone does sound interesting! What a unique premise! How do they come up with this stuff? I swear, anime has some of the wildest stories and characters. It's so different than western animation. Btw, has anyone here heard of Deadman's Wonderland? I recently had it recommended to me. |

I'm glad you enjoyed FMAB! It's totally one of my favorite anime and it's always nice to see new people experience it!
I did watch Deadmans Wonderland! I think it has a strong start, but personally found the latter half of the season weaker. I think it depends on your taste :0

What if a show is animated in Japan but not Japanese-made? A lot of companies outsource their animation to Korea and Japan, but does that count??

I've decided to give Golden Kamuy, Arslan Senki (2015), and Mob Psycho 100 a shot. I watched the first episode of each today.
I think I'm gonna alternate between Golden Kamuy and Arslan Senki as my main and offset them with Mob Psycho 100. I like to have something silly and lighthearted to balance out the more serious/dramatic animes I'm watching - heaven knows I could've used a breather now and then after certain FMAB episodes lol

A lot of people consider 'anime' a style, but I think it technically needs to be produced in Japan :0 Outsourced material probably doesn't count either, but I'm not sure XD
And YEAH, this thread has lasted a pretty long time! Helps that a good handful of people here watch anime :]
I really liked Golden Kamuy and MP100! It's been a while since I've watched Arslan and it wasn't super memorable for me but I do remember enjoying it. I'm interested to see which out of the three you like the most!

With Shaft doing the new RWBY thing it's technically street legal as an anime now. The first few seasons of the Roosterteeth RWBY were top notch. I remember following them since it came out but after Monty Oum passed I kinda dropped off. RIP a legend.

Ah, gotcha. Going by that definition I've only watched 3 "street legal" animes, then.
I already forgot about Deadman's Wonderland oops
I'll still give it a watch at some point because it was recommended to me by someone who really likes it. Then I can at least say I tried it.
So, initial thoughts on the three I'm watching!
Golden Kamuy. I really like the art style of this one! The animation and background art is lovely. I think it's great that it has an indigenous protagonist, and an Ainu, at that. Japan tends to gloss over the darker parts of their history so it's a pleasant surprise to see some acknowledgement of that in anime. Hoping it stays respectful. I'm not really that familiar with the historical era featured, so I'm excited to learn more. yes I'm the person who watches or reads historical fiction and then looks up details to see how accurate it is
Arslan Senki is?? Adorable?? Again, love the art style, the animation and backgrounds are super pretty. The prince is very cute and I want to protect him. I'm very interested to see where this one goes.
MP100 is wild, man. It's so over the top. The whole premise is just ridiculous. I don't know what I was expecting going in, but it wasn't this, but I'm here for it. I actually like how different the art is! It has so much character and stylization, and the colors just pop! I can see now why it might not be for everyone, but personally I find it a breath of fresh air when so many animes have the same generic "pretty" style. It kinda gives me western vibes while still feeling extremely anime lol.
