He's literally me when I first started swimming, looks more like a dead fish then a real swimmer. But we both grew. Just took me like 8 years and him a couple weeks.

Noragami is great, but I have to ask: How is the manga "toned down"? If anything, the manga amps up everything. Especially with what's happening in the most recent chapters... I wouldn't call that "toned down." There were points in the manga that I felt like crying at, but the anime never did it for me. Aragoto spoilers Though one thing the anime did better than the manga was Suzuha's and Yukine's friendship. Manga skims over it, anime extends it and makes Suzuha's death way sadder. |

I told my friend about it yesterday and she's further ahead then me. I'm on episode 13 and she's on episode 19. It's funny because I usually finish the anime we both watch before her.

Nah, nah. That wasn't the sort of tone down I meant. ^^ I was referring more to the disconnect between a movie or show - which has full-color visuals, dramatic voice acting, and emotion. Whereas the manga requires your imagination. So that's what I meant. I'm sure the anime handles things slightly differently from the manga, so I'm not sure what they might have developed more or not have.
