Ma'ait carried Mysha over to the lake where the water looked deep before helping her down. The woman settled by the edge, looking down into the water. It took a bit, but she eventually saw a little splash nearby. She then perched in a crouch, though most of the weight held by her legs was shifted to the left side, her arm resting on the very edge for now, just waiting for one of the fish to just swim a little too close.
Ma'ait looked around, smelling the air for any larger prey. Nose twitching, she flicked her tail as she scented something. Smelled like multiple, so she told Shard "You are welcome to join me if you wish."

Drake settled down nearby, poised over the water in a similar manner to Mysha, waiting silently for something to come towards him.
Shard looked over as Ma’ait spoke and he nodded. “I’m in.” He replied happily. He detached the saddle bags attached to him with a paw then he walked with her in the direction of the scents.

Drake would obviously have a better stance to catch fish, meaning he'd likely stay dry besides his arm. Mysha however, wasn't so fortunate. Just as a fish lazily swam by, her arm slid out from under her, pulling back a bit before shooting forward. As she swiped into the water, some of her top half slid into the water. It was quick though, as she immediately scooted herself out, looking rather comical. Ignoring that she was now wet, she looked down at the fish in her hand. Her grip was so tight that her fingers actually punctured past the scales.
Ma'ait began walking off, following where the smell of prey led them. Eventually, she saw some wild horses in the distance, manes messy and hides dirty. She began creeping up the side of the herd, whispering "Go to the other side, so wherever they flee they don't have a good escape."

Drake looked over as he heard splashes and such and he chortled softly to himself. He watched as the girl started squeezing her catch and his eyes widened. “Hey don’t pop it with your grip!” He said.
Shard nodded. “Understood.” He replied softly, starting to move in the direction she indicated, moving with next to no sound from his walking or anything.

Mysha blinked before looking down. Oops. She only had one hand to do her catching with, so she subconsciously had used more strength than necessary. Putting it down, Drake got to see the first time she actually cracked a smile. She didn't say anything though, simply turning away to sit by the edge again for another catch.
Ma'ait waited until Shard was in position, golden eyes studying the horses. She paused when she saw a foal drinking from its mother. Hm. She would leave that one mare alone then. Sighing, she waited a moment more before springing forward, charging the herd, which got spooked and immediately turned and ran the other way.

Drake smiled as well when he saw Mysha smile herself and he too then turned back to the water. After a moment, he took his own hand, readied it, then struck it downwards into the water and then brought it back up, a fish in his hand.
Shard watched the herd, having the same thought as the mother horse and her foal, and got ready when Ma’ait spring out into the clearing. As the horses ran at him, he struck and killed only enough of the horses that they needed to eat to survive for a while.

Mysha saw Drake move for a second before looking back to her own area, watching as fish scrambled her way. She tried again, but had done something different. Actually launching herself into the water, she disappeared under in a large splash. After a few more moments, she resurfaced, two fish in hand. However, there was some flesh missing from the tail from one, which would be found in her jaws. She must've tried to catch one in her mouth. Her arm bracing on the edge, she used her good lake to dig into the side of the leg and heave herself up.
Ma'ait also managed to kill a few horses. As the survivors scrambled away, she then paused as she heard something. An owl hoot. Or what seemed to be one. Listening again, she stepped back from her catches and hissed "Up in the air, now!" Not giving details, she spread her wings and took flight, immediately going up rather than forward.
Mysha paused when she heard the noise two blinking slowly before looking around. Hesitating, she simply took a breath and slipped back into the water, disappearing. Hopefully they'd move on soon, as she only had about... ten minutes? Maybe twelve? Before long, you could hear movement in the trees, footsteps. And then there were people, clad in armor that looked to be both a mix of bone, fur and horns. They were looking around, one of them pausing his hooting upon seeing Drake. "Hello there, sir. Didn't think there was anyone staying here." He looked around "Any chance you've seen anyone else?"

Drake smiled and watched as Mysha dove back into the water, rolling his eyes bemusedly. She was such a funny person! Hearing hooting and other sounds, Drake turned and watched as some kind of soldiers walked up. "Well hello. Sorry if I surprised you, I was just doing some horse riding when suddenly a dragon spooked my horse. I managed to disconnect my saddle bags before my horse tossed me off. Hopefully she'll return soon." He lied expertly, indicating the saddle bags beside him. "And no, I haven't seen anyone else nearby. Is everything alright?" He asked.
Shard heard the hooting but had thought nothing of it, right until Ma'ait shot up into the air. He growled softly, sensing danger was looming, and he lifted off after her, catching up in what looked like a blur of black smoke. He flew after her, staying beside her. "What's going on?" he asked softly.

Ma'ait looked down once they were both at a safe height. Shaking her head, she said "That is one of the calls of her people. They must've caught up." Fast travelers, and even faster trackers. "Most dragons on the ground have almost no chance of getting away."
The man who looked to be leading the group hummed. "No, we're looking for one of our people. She got lost, you see, and we've been out looking since yesterday." He looked around again. However, one of the other men, a skull covering his face, walked up and sniffed Drake, snorting in his face before moving past him. He looked among the supplies, looking annoyed that he found nothing. However, he paused by the fish, noticing the one missing some flesh. "Had fish. No fish breath." The lead man tilted his head. "Something try to steal your food?" His eyes were a little narrowed now though.

Shard snarled softly. "Well today is the day they learn not to mess with Drake." He said, smiling a little. If worse came to worse, Shard could always show his true power. This might get interesting.
"The dragon that attacked, duh." Drake said immediately, no hesitation. "There might've been more than one, if I'm being honest. "I left those go in case the dragon or dragons came back. And I just caught this one." He said, nodding to the fish just beside him. "Could you please leave now? Your presence is disturbing the fish." He said, turning back to the lake.

Hm. The man narrowed his eyes further. "In such a hurry for us to leave? Though I suppose you don't want to stay while those dragons are around. He then flicked a hand to the man wearing the facial bones. The skinnier of the two walked to the water's edge. The water wasn't too clear though, so he couldn't see anything. Glancing around, he took a deep inhale, just smelling. Then, he sat down. The lead man chuckled, saying "When Ghio sits, so do we. Maybe we'll get to know each other, hm? You can tell me about where got that overshirt of yours. Did you kill the dragon yourself?"
Ma'ait hesitated. "We still must be careful. These people have been studying how to kill dragons for as long as they showed up. Never underestimate them." She looked around, saying "We can wait until, if at all, something happens. Showing up will surely get your human in trouble, though we may need to step in either way. Mysha is probably hiding in the lake, and she can't hold her breath forever. Sooner or later, she will have to surface, and that alone will get your human in trouble." Only because she had a hunch Drake would not just let those animals snatch her up. Neither would Ma'ait.

"Actually, I didn't. Very few dragons shed their skins, but I guess I was just at the right place at the right time. Found these scales one day during the colder months, when some dragons are hibernating or at least less active." He replied. "And, if I might say, you probably don't want to stick around for more than a minute. Unless you all want to die." He said, looking over at the group, his irises suddenly changing red, then both his entire eyes turning completely black.
"Even if they study dragons and know how to kill our kind... They can't kill you if your enemy can't touch you!" Shard said, eyes glowing a mysterious black-red color. Black flames started burning all over him, and he soon dove downwards, turning into a mass of black flames and other stuff as he plummeted down to the ground.

The man chuckled. "Mmm, I don't think anyone wants to die, sir." He whistled, sounding like some sort of bird, and the skull-face turned to look at him. "Come, Ghio. This man here means business!" The skinny man immediately came back to the group. The leader leaned in, studying Drake. "You're not the only one with powers, but we really aren't looking to fight." Then, he moved back and turned around. "But know this. You will be sorry for shielding a traitor. Our chief does not like defectors, and they must be returned to the dirt." Waving a hand, he motioned for the others to follow, not jumping one bit at the sight of the two dragons approaching. At least the men were smart enough to know when to back down, especially with an opponent they knew nothing about.
Ma'ait landed neatly and immediately went to the water, turning and slapping the surface with her tail. Soon, Mysha surface, taking huge breaths of air. Ma'ait helped her out, and she crawled out onto the grass, rolling onto her back and just taking air in again.

“You’re not going anywhere!” Drake replied, reaching over grabbing two dragon-tooth blades from his saddle bags. He ran towards the group, vanishing it a flash of black flame and appeared again in front of the men, striking upwards and clocking one of the men in the face, then was gone again. By this time, the blur of black flames reached the ground right behind the men and spread out and around them, creating a pitch-black semisphere around the group. It was pure black inside, no sight at all. Loud, angry growls sounded from all around the men, and then Drake’s voice rang out all around them as well. “Any group that decided to attack dragons or those who side with them shall surely PERISH.” His voice rang out, and suddenly a flurry of strikes began hitting each member of the group, followed by burning flames.

Most of the men were burned away by the flames, screaming and yelling. However, slull-face, or Ghio, had other plans. Dodging the swipes, his eyes crinkled in amusement before cracks began appearing in his face beneath the mask, light poking through. The human form seemed to dissolve, and a bright white bird with a little skull mask took his spot, smokey light dripping off his wings as he flew. He punctured the sphere, immediately flying off rather than do anything stupid. He screeched softly as he left, Mysha and Ma'ait watching him go. Mysha looked back at the sphere though, just staring as she listened to the others perish, smelling their burning flesh. Out of all the people to live though, it had to be that weasel.

After the other soldiers were certainly burned away, the semisphere started swirling and then after a few moments vanished, leaving Drake and Shard in its place. Drake patted out some black flames on his clothes before walking back towards the two females. “Are you Alright?” He asked as he knelt down next to her. His eyes had gone back to normal now and he seemed to be okay. Though after a couple seconds both of the males’ bellies let out the largest growls ever. They were apparently now extra hungry from what just happened.

Mysha studied Drake, simply nodding. "You're hungry," she stated simply, judging by the growls their stomachs made. She looked back towards their catches, deciding Drake could have his pick of them besides the one she bit. She seemed more interested in just resting for a few minutes, as her lungs still needed a bit of relaxing.
Ma'ait looked over at Shard, asking "You want to go back and collect those horses?" They were likely still sitting there nearby, so it would be an easy trip to go and pluck them up and bring them back.

Larkes smiled a little and answered his questions every time. Upon his question about his own name, Larkes looked down a bit. “It’s Larkes.” He replied. “What about you?” "Aldnoa. Drake laughed a little as he settled down next to Mysha. "Yes, more than you know." He said, rubbing his belly a little. He looked at the fish and grabbed two of them, not the one she bit though. He quickly prepared the fish and ate it, smiling happily.
Shard nodded a few times. "Yes, let's. I need something soon." he replied, spreading his wings again and preparing to take off again.

Mysha simply cleaned her fish before eating it as it was, not at all caring. Any food was food. After finishing, she yawned. As she liked at the fish bones, she mumbled something. "... thank you." She would surely have been snatched if Drake hadn't stepped in. With her injuries, and stripped of her powers, she was a sitting duck until she could get her strength back. "They would've taken me back home if you hadn't decided to help me out."

Drake nodded a couple times as he finished off his own food. "I wouldn't let anything happen to you, Mysha. You and Ma'ait have a special bond, and I wouldn't let anything happen to a dragon or someone who sides with them." he replied, practically repeating his soliloquy earlier that day.

(Oof, didn't reply to the dragons x3)
Ma'ait had taken off with Shard, back to where the horses had been killed. Touching down, she noticed that some of them were missing. Those rats must've taken a few. She could go without a good meal though, letting Shard have the majority due to needing it more.
Mysha hummed in acknowledgement. "You're different than home. We usually kill strangers." That's where some the bones in their armor came from. Sighing, she looked around, asking as she did "So, those powers of yours. Did you learn them? Or were you born with them?"

Shard landed neatly beside Ma'ait, looking over their now smaller catch pile. "Hmph. Those bastards stole some." He growled, but soon dropped the subject. He pulled off a couple of the horses, knowing that they'd be more than enough, and leaving some for his companion.
"I only kill when necessary. Like before." Drake said with a shrug. At her question of his powers, he huffed amusedly. "Well, neither, to be honest. That's actually Shard's ability, and when we found each other and got to know one another, he gave me his power as well." he said. He pulled up his shirt a bit, revealing a black pattern all over the side of his stomach that looked like it was made of dragon scales bound to his skin. "But his power is quite complicated and can only be activated under certain conditions."

Ma'ait pulled what was left toward herself, questioning "Should we head back, or just eat here?" It would probably be best to head back, just to be sure their friends were not messed with again. It was likely that the humans that didn't approach them had fled, but one never knew. So, she looked over at Shard to see what he would want to do.
Mysha listened curiously. So, his dragon had lended him the power. Scratching her chin, she said "Home works like that, somewhat. We're apparently born with powers, but we only have them unlocked at five or so. An organ of our choice is branded, but we really didn't know what we were doing at the time. Chief just sets wooden models of organs out in front of kids, and whichever one they seem the most interested in is the one the magic binds to. The more important the organ, the stronger the power would be when used." She smiled slightly. "Mine was a kidney." Then, Mysha frowned again. "If we disobey severely enough though, the organ is removed. Our fault if it is one we can't live without. Then, it is burned. Locking the power away again, and the person is either dead or kept from getting another brand." She turned a bit lifted up the back of her own damp shirt a bit to show a stitched wound, right over where the left kidney was located.

Shard grunted, understanding the point Ma’ait was trying to make. He grabbed the horses in his claws and flashed out his wings. “Yes, lets head back. Don’t want anything to happen to them.” He said and he clapped hisbwings.
Drake grunted softly as she exposed her wound. “Yikes, that’s rough.” He said, shivering a little bit. He didn’t cringe easily but this kind of thing made him queasy.

(Just saw the new HTTYD movie :'3)
Ma'ait followed after Shard, taking flight and gliding back to the lake. Upon getting there, she set the horses down before actually landing, folding her wings as she looked over at the two humans.
Mysha shrugged. "I apparently did wrong in valuing the life of someone who did not deserve death." Speaking of, she looked as their dragons returned. "I want to go back one day, but just to get a new brand." She looked at herself, and cracked another half smile. "But given my current condition, I don't think I'd be successful in taking one."

Shard flew back to the humans beside Ma’ait and when they landed, he immediately started eating, unable to stave off his exceedingly high hunger.
Drake nodded slowly as he listened to Mysha’s desire for her future. “you know, if you don’t want yo get another Brand there’s other ways you can learn and use magic.”

Ma'ait warbled in what sounded like laughter as Shard immediately started eating. She dug into her own food, sighing in content as she ate.
Mysha shook her head. "Perhaps, but it would not be the same. And, I want to rub it in all of their faces when I do. The branding is done in that cave I was telling you about, and it is sacred law not to draw blood in that area." She snorted. "The hard part would be leaving though."
