... as evident by the fact that you got lost while on patrol. This happens quite often. You are beginning to think that your fellow warriors are leaving you behind on purpose. A smarter warrior might be able to find the patrol with a keen nose and sharp observation, but you are no such warrior.
You suppose you could go back to camp, but that wouldn't earn you any favors with the deputy. You've been trying to find your patrol with no luck, it doesn't help that you've been... distracted.
As of now, you are all alone.
What should you do?

It's okay, haha. I definitely understand how it can be confusing.
It's less like a roleplay and more like you tell the character what to do. This is supposed to be like a text adventure where you enter commands like "look at object" and "take item" etc. So yours might be "Go hunting" or "find the border" or something like that. I hope that clears things up!

Yeah, this guy is Flamestep, you don't like him. You don't have the courage to tell him that, though. Flamestep, on the other hand, has no difficulty saying how much he doesn't like you.
"What are you doing? Goofing off?" He snorts disapprovingly. You try to deny this, but he won't listen. "If it were up to me, I would have left you here. Cricketwing thinks your sorry pelt is still needed at camp, so I have to bring you back. Let's go, I don't want to babysit for you any longer than I have to."
You try to think of something very clever and witty to say that would put Flamestep in his place, but you can't think of anything. So you just silently follow him back to camp

No, you say! Foxtail was a great mentor who taught you a lot!
"Then shape up." Cricketwing turns to Flamestep. "And you -- Don't think I'm so stupid I haven't caught wise to your antics. It's no coincidence that Swiftleap only has trouble with patrols when you're with them. If you want to be a nursery den bully, I'll be happy to send you back there. Both of you, get it together!"

Cricketwing leaves but you know that you're not out of the woods yet. Flamestep whips around to face you and you tense up.

You know he's only doing this because he got in trouble with the deputy as well. You want to say to yourself that he isn't worth your breath, but in reality you're just too scared to say anything. Flamestep frightens you more than you'd like to admit, so you stay quiet.
"You're a burden that everyone else is forced to drag around. Too stupid to be a medicine cat and too weak to be a warrior of any use. Those that can actually pull their weight deserve a place in the clan and those who can't are better off getting picked off by hawks as kits."
You try hard to distance your mind from this current moment, but his words dig under your pelt and you can't help but cry.
"You want to be useful for once? Do something that will actually help the clan instead of hinder it? Here's something you can do--"

Those are very good suggestions that would no doubt prove your usefulness to the clan. But you're worried if you go out into the territory, you'll just get in trouble with Cricketwing once more. She might think you got lost again and send someone after you then you'll get another scolding and you don't think your emotional state is strong enough to handle a third all in one day.

Silverleaf tasks you with sorting through the herbs that he collected earlier that day. That's easy. You've done this enough times that you can recognize most of the herbs without even sniffing them.
As of now, Silverleaf doesn't have an apprentice, so sometimes he asks you to help him with chores. Silverleaf is kind of like you in that he doesn't have a lot of friends in the clan. But he's a whole lot smarter than you, which makes it kind of intimidating to hang out with him. Still, he's an okay guy. He's also one of the few cats in the clan that can tolerate your presence for longer than ten minutes; beggars can't be choosers!
As you sort through the herbs, you tell him about your day and how you got scolded a bunch. You're not positive he's listening because all he says is "Hmm" and "Yeah?"
That's fine. It's enough for you to just have something to do.
"If you don't like being a warrior, then just be my apprentice," Silverleaf says. "I'd only yell at you half as much as Flamestep does."
You tell him that you don't think you'd be able to handle the life of a medicine cat. You don't like seeing cats in pain and maybe it'd be nice to find a mate someday.
"Fair enough," Silverleaf says flatly.
Neither of you say anything for a little while.

"The life of a warrior doesn't suit you, the life of a medicine cat doesn't suit you... do you even like being in the clan at all?"

You do it anyway because there are hardly any apprentices in the clan right now. Only two. So you warriors have to put in a little more work than usual. Next season, however, the clan should be overflowing with brand new apprentices! How exciting!

That she-cat? Uh, let's see her name is... oh! Leopardheart! You're pretty sure she's from Riverclan. You remember there was some controversy about her when she was made a warrior. She wasn't even four seasons old, which is typically when most apprentices are assessed and made into warriors. She looks like a strong warrior, though, so maybe it turned out alright for her.
Those are probably the only cats you know by name from other clans, aside from leaders and deputies. It'd be embarrassing to walk up to a cat whose name you don't even know.
You could try and strike up a conversation with one of them or wait for Foxtail.

Oof, big update this time, folks. With the addition of a poll! Readers can still insert unique commands in the replies, though, so don't worry.
This one took a lot out of me (you can definitely see a decline in quality in the panels as i got tired haha) so there's going to be a short break again! i don't wanna risk injuring my wrist, then we'd be in for a long break.
again, I hope everyone that's been following along has been enjoying the story thus far! even if swiftleap might not be a lovable protagonist lmao
