June laughed. "Pretty much." She answered. Katty rearranged her fingers again, messing up the rhythm for a moment or two.

"Hmm. Well, you know what I think?" Kaden asked. But of course he was going to tell them anyway. He grinned and said dramatically, "I think we should form a band!"
It honestly took him a minute to remember that he already had a band. So the family fun game idea wasn't quite the same as it would be in a normal, non-famous-with-a-surprise-secret-daughter-you-only-meet-five-years-later-while-touring-with-your-rock/pop-band family. "...That came out more egotistical than I meant."

June smirked a bit, giving him a side-eye. "I would say been there and done that, but to be honest, I guess quitting when you started bigger gigs means I wasn't really in it." She answered sarcastically. "And our deaf drummer wouldn't be nearly as hard-core as all the other rock bands." The blonde pointed out, kissing the top of Katty's head.

"Sure she would! Just get the girl some sunglasses and we're good to go," he joked. He leaned over so he could kiss Katty's head too. Maybe he could get her riles up and annoyed if he did it enough. She was absolutely adorable when she was exasperated with him. Hopefully he still thought so in ten years. The idea of a teenaged Katty rolling her eyes at her "totally lame" dad almost made him laugh aloud. "You stepped down right when it was getting big, June," he agreed. "Who knows? You could be totally famous and living on your own personal island by now!"

Katty stuck her tongue out when Kaden copied June, mostly to tease them. "I'll be in Kaden's band, mommy." She informed her mother. It was weird that mommy said she'd been in a band before. Katty was skeptical, because, by now, she would've seen mommy play on a stage. So mommy must've joke-lying, the way adults do sometimes.

(Ha ha! Joke-lying! I LOVE Katty's interpretation of adult activities.)
Kaden laughed. "Aw, you want to be in my band?" He teased her back and kissed her head again. "That makes me happy. Now we just have to convince Mommy! This case calls for puppy dog eyes!" He raised his eyebrows and leaned down close to Katty. "You do know how to do the puppy dog eyes, right?"

) Katty has the perfect puppy dog eyes. Big doe eyes, with a small tear, and a slight pout. "Please, mommy?" "Teaching my daughter to guilt-trip me?" June questioned, rolling her eyes. "I've dealt with that face for five years! It's ot gonna work on me..."

"But what if you're hit with a double whammy?" Kaden asked. He put on his best puppy dog eyes too, to aid and assist his daughter. It was hard not to start laughing, but he managed. He had been polishing this look since he was six.

June smirked, holding her heart a faking faint. "Ugh! Now, I'm powerless." She answered, setting down the guitar before falling back onto the floor.

Kaden laughed. "Maybe we better make sure she is okay," he told Katty. "Juuuune. Are you still breathing? You can't be in our band if you're not breathing!" He shook her shoulder. "Come on! We have to be a band or all of our offspring's hopes and dreams will die!"

Katty tried nudging June's shoulder, but since her mother had gone completely limp, she just kept getting pushed around. "Nope. Not breathing. Sorry Kaden, but Katty is going to live with her godmother now that I'm dead, because you keep referring to her as offspring."

"Noo! Not my baby!" Kaden cried, laughing. He grabbed Katty and held her tight. But he let her go again so she could have some idea of what they were saying. "Who is this godmother? I challenge her to a duel! Winner keeps the offspring!"

"Why are you gonna fight Annie?" Katty asked immediately. Annie was nice!
"Annie, of course." June answered, following Katty's response. "You think I'd let my mom anywhere near her?" She joked.

Kaden shrugged. "I don't know what secret friends you might have hidden away. Everybody would be ecstatic to have Katty come live with them."

"Well, too bad for them, no one else can have her." June replied, scooping Katty up to squeeze her.
(And Sorry for short post. I'm not having the most carefree day.)

(Well well well, look who it is! Haha. Hey! Don't worry about it! I assumed you were just taking a break, that's all, no big deal! Are you having a bad day?)
Kaden laughed. "I agree, not while we're around. Let's not share her, how about?" he jokingly suggested. His tone changed to a more business-like one. "But! In other matters: what shall we do today?"
|

|

Nope. Just busy. Or really, I can't sit still so I'm doing things that don't necessarily have to be done today... Rambling, sorry. Yeah. Internet was down for awhile, and the only time I had access to wifi was at work.)
"Hmm. What should we do?" June echoed the question.
Since both adults were looking to Katty, she assumed reign of this issue. Honestly, were adults able to do anything by themselves? "We could go to the park?" She asked after thinking a moment.

(Well, at least you kept busy! I prefer being busy, usually. At least at work, I suppose.)
Kaden chuckled at the look on his daughter's face. "The park sounds like fun. This will be your first California park! Exciting! Should we make a day of it?" he asked, talking to June now as much as Katty. "Bring some frisbees and soccer balls, a picnic lunch? I could invite Neal--" Neal was a friend of Kaden's, another singer, "--and his family. He's got two boys about Katty's age."

Katty scrunched her nose. Kids were... Okay. But adults were more tolerable when it came to communication. As it sat, she wasn't very sociable, although her personality itself seemed to be. There just seemed to be a big gap when it came to her and kids trying to talk to one another.
"Hmmm. That'd be cool." June answered. "Do you have any outdoor stuff? Or do we need to glue a fake mustache on you before sneaking into Walmart?"

The preposterous mental picture of June glueing a cheap, fake mustache to his lip made him laugh. "I don't know if I have anything..." he said doubtfully. "Neal might, though. I can ask. Unless Katty dearest would rather just play by her lonesome?"

Katty nodded, after being given the choice. There was a certain amount of embarrassment she was just recently feeling when it came to being around kids her age. Not being able to talk with them seemed to be snowballing into a bigger problem. She didn't always understand what was going on, couldn't disagree with what she did get, and couldn't always answer back in the first place.
"Aw, Katty. I think you should play with them." June objected. She'd noticed, and it was part of her push to get Katty into a Deaf school. At least then, she wouldn't hit a brick wall everywhere she looked.

"I think Mommy's right," Kaden signed. "We'll teach them a few signs first, and then maybe all of us can play a game together. You might even make a new friend," he prodded, trying to sound encouraging. The fact that he hadn't spent much time considering exactly how difficult interaction with other children must be for her upset him. Of course he had thought about it some, and it was part of the reason he supported the idea of trying to find a Deaf school for her to attend. But he had also always just sort of assumed that kids were kids, and they tended to get along just fine in spite of a lot of difference that might be offputting for some adults. But Katty wore her strain on her face, and it came on a lot faster when she was in a room--or a park--with people who made her work to keep up and communicate with them. But the child needed friends here, and this was a place to start. Besides, maybe June would even hit it off with Neal's wife...if Kaden could only remember their name before they got there.

Katty, again, made a face. "Mommy, I don't want to." She announced, though knowing that she'd already lost. Adults were always against her!
"I know." June answered, pulling Katty back into her lap. "It's tough isn't it? You'll make friends though, it just takes time." Oh how she wished Katty would've had a friend from back when she was in diapers. Her and Kaden literally had been friends their entire lives, both starting off in a new-born mommy circle before ending up in the same daycare. Their moms had never been anything more than acquaintances, but the longest they'd been apart was when Kaden had left to start his trek to stardom. While June had always been anti-social -much to Kaden's dismay, she'd also never really been lonely. Katty, on the other hand, would probably be just as social, if she'd really get the chance, but right now it seemed to displease her that they were even going to be near new people. So June was really stuck. Katty was going to hate either decision. "We're gonna go. And it's gonna be so much fun. You'll see."

"Lots of new things are fun," Kaden agreed, but even he knew it was a weak addition. "And these are Daddy's friends, so we already know that they're nice and that we need to be nice too. Let me call Neal real quick," he told June. "Katty, would you like some breakfast?"

Katty shook her head. "Mommy already made me eat leaves."
June rolled her eyes. "She means a spinach omelet." The mom corrected. "Heaven forbid she eat anything that isn't full of sugar... Kaden is gonna call his friend, while you and I make him breakfast, since he slept forever." She informed her daughter.

The statement took Kaden by surprise. His forehead wrinkled and he let out a confused noise somewhere between a grunt and a laugh, naturally looking to June for explanation.
He laughed when she cleared it up for him. "Oh! A spinach omelet. That sounds yummy!" But he couldn't quite say it with a straight face; he was still laughing about the "Mommy made me eat leaves" comment. "Hey! I did not sleep forever. Just for...a long time." He kissed both his girls on the cheek and got up to give Neal a call. "I'll be back."

(It, Cherry, this is what I think: you are no less a delightful person in general or to to with than ever, but maybe I am. I think the only real hurdle we had was whether or not Kaden and June would actually make it work, and they've decided they will. So I don't want you to think I don't enjoy this plot or these little peeps, but my replies keep getting less and less interesting, and I'd rather quit while we're ahead, if that's a discussion you're willing to have. )

Well, I guess it might be time. I think the old forums closing, for whatever reason, really messed up both my 'flow' and yours. If you don't want to continue the plot, I guess I understand. Would you be interested in doing another plot together? Either way, I do get it. It's alright.)
